Saudis rooting for Clinton to win White House: Oil analyst

“It is no secret that the Saudis and other [Persian] Gulf Sunni powers are rooting for Mrs. Clinton,” Bob McNally, president of Washington-based consulting firm Rapidan Group, told CNBC from Vienna on Thursday.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) holds its semiannual meeting Thursday in Vienna, but is unlikely to announce any strategy changes.

McNally said that there is “a lot of concern and anxiety” about what a Donald Trump presidency would mean for the oil market.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, has questioned the protective nature of the US relationship with Saudi Arabia.

He has suggested that the United States should consider ditching Riyadh because Washington is increasingly getting less dependent on overseas oil.

The Death of Bill Kristol

Perhaps the greatest accomplishment reached by Donald Trump since he announced his presidential run is his killing off of the idea that Bill Kristol is some kind of significant political commentator and political operative.

Kristol's anti-Trump initiative has fallen flat on its face. Kristol has been at the center of anti-Trump letters signed by top Washington insiders. He has been influential in cover magazines denouncing Trump. He has launched a stream of non-stop anti-Trump rhetoric. And he has even visited the motherland for support and shekels. None of this has caused the Trump train to even slow. Remarkably, Kristol has not even been able to stop the politicians he formerly controlled, Sarah Palin and Dan Quayle, from becoming Trump supporters.

New Hampshire Passes Civil Forfeiture Reforms

Today, the New Hampshire House of Representatives and Senate passed SB 522, which includes several reforms to the state’s forfeiture laws.

“Civil forfeiture is one of the most serious assaults on due process and private property rights in America today,” said Institute for Justice Attorney Rob Peccola. “The legislature’s vote today means New Hampshire is closer to ensuring only convicted criminals—and not the innocent—lose their property to forfeiture.”

CONTROVERSIAL FREE SPEECH ZONES FINALLY BEING BANNED FROM COLLEGE CAMPUSES

Amid long-running debate in Iowa about the Constitutionality of “free speech zones” on college campuses, the governor of Arizona recently signed new bills that will effectively turn campuses, themselves, into zones of free speech in that state. Both Arizona bills were signed into law by Gov. Doug Ducey on May 16. House Bill 2548 targets free speech infringement in public squares. HB 2615 eliminates free speech zones altogether — and orders those areas to be converted into memorials or monuments.

Great Idea: Invite EVERY Politician & Candidate To USS Liberty Memorial Event Wednesday, June 8th

This coming Wednesday is the 49th anniversary of the tragic and brutal assault on the USS Liberty by Israel. On June 8, 1967 Israeli attacked the USS LIBERTY and murdered 32 Americans, and wounded 171 more. On June 8, 2016 the USS Liberty Veterans Association will be holding a Memorial Service at Arlington National Cemetery at noon commemorating the attack. The president of this group, Ernest A. Gallo, sent a letter to Obama last January asking him to invite Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to this event. Obama never bothered to reply, but I think this event holds a lot of potential. We should invite all politicians and candidates including Donald Trump, Clinton and Sanders. Invite your congressman and senators too! I realize it's short notice but Arlington is easily accessible and attending this event wouldn't take up too much of these people's time.

California Assembly Passes “Right to Try” Act Rejecting Some FDA Restrictions on Terminally-Ill

By Mike Maharrey

Yesterday, the California Assembly overwhelmingly passed a bill that would set the foundation to nullify in practice some Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules that deny access to experimental treatments by terminally ill patients.

A massive bipartisan coalition of 29 Assembly members introduced Assembly Bill 1668 (AB1668) on Jan. 15. The legislation would give terminally ill patients access to medicines not yet given final approval for use by the FDA.

On Tuesday, the Assembly passed AB1668 by a 77-2 margin...

Statecraft: A Timeline of CIA Atrocities

The following timeline describes just a few of the hundreds of atrocities and crimes committed by the CIA. (1) CIA operations follow the same recurring script. First, American business interests abroad are threatened by a popular or democratically elected leader. The people support their leader because he intends to conduct land reform, strengthen unions, redistribute wealth, nationalize foreign-owned industry, and regulate business to protect workers, consumers and the environment. So, on behalf of American business, and often with their help, the CIA mobilizes the opposition.

Martin Armstrong Warns The Rise Of Nationalism Throughout Europe Is Inevitable

This is what happens when politicians think they are smarter than the great unwashed whom they rule over.

They lack common sense on every possible level. The rise of third parties is a reality and our computer has been spot on with this forecast for 2016. It accomplished this forecast by simply doing what government does not seem capable of doing — correlating political trends with economic trends.

So what’s going on should be of no surprise. There are many separatist movements building throughout Europe all because government has become corrupt.

There are separatist movements in Hawaii, Texas, and Vermont in the USA for starters. This is ALL predictable. All you have to do is let the data speak for itself — no water or hot air needs to be added.

Venezuela Drifts Into New Territory: Hunger, Blackouts and Government Shutdown

The courts? Closed most days. The bureau to start a business? Same thing. The public defender’s office? That’s been converted into a food bank for government employees.

Step by step, Venezuela has been shutting down.

This country has long been accustomed to painful shortages, even of basic foods. But Venezuela keeps drifting further into uncharted territory.

In recent weeks, the government has taken what may be one of the most desperate measures ever by a country to save electricity: A shutdown of many of its offices for all but two half-days each week.

But that is only the start of the country’s woes. Electricity and water are being rationed, and huge areas of the country have spent months with little of either.

Many people cannot make international calls from their phones because of a dispute between the government and phone companies over currency regulations and rates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I cannot see how this can ultimately end well, or that Maduro will be able to remain in power that much longer.

But I do hope that the government which replaces that of Maduro will be able to meet the needs of the suffering Venezuelan people, and as quickly as humanly possible.

Still thinking of going to France this weekend? Half the country's petrol stations have run dry, riots break out in Paris and human traffickers are waging war in Calais

As thousands prepare to make trips across the Channel for the bank holiday weekend, British motorists were advised to cancel trips to France today as fuel pumps ran dry and violent industrial action against employment reform spread across the country.

Up to half of the country's 12,000-odd petrol stations are now empty, as riot police were sent in to try and lift blockades of fuel refineries.

By this afternoon, all but one of the blockades manned by union activists had been cleared away, a government spokesman said, adding that the situation is 'improving everywhere, all over the country'.

It came as French Prime Minister Manuel Valls warned that 'this country is dying from its inability to reform'.

Meanwhile, a mass brawl involving people smugglers at the 'Jungle' refugee camp in Calais left 40 injured, including a young female aid worker, yesterday.

Europe Revolts Against Russian Sanctions

From ministerial offices to barricades on the streets, Europe is in open revolt against anti-Russian sanctions which have cost workers and businesses millions of jobs and earnings. Granted, the contentious issues are wider than anti-Russian sanctions. However, the latter are entwined with growing popular discontent across the EU.

Germany’s vice chancellor Sigmar Gabriel is among the latest high-profile politicians to have come out against the sanctions stand-off between the European Union and Russia.

At stake is not just a crisis in the economy, of which the anti-Russian sanctions are symptomatic. It is further manifesting in a political crisis that is challenging the very legitimacy of EU governments and the bloc’s institutional existence. The issue is not so much about merely trying to normalize EU-Russian relations. But rather more about preserving the EU from an existential public backlash against anti-democratic and discredited authorities.

French nuclear workers vote to join strike against labour laws

Staff at France’s 19 nuclear plants have voted to go on strike on Thursday amid escalating protests against labour reforms.

Workers at the Nogent-sur-Seine plant near Paris have already started a 24-hour stoppage.

The action is not thought likely to provoke power cuts, due to legal limits on strike action in the nuclear industry and power imports from abroad.

The latest action comes as the CGT union hardens its opposition to new labour laws.

“It is no longer enough for us go out on the streets, they don’t listen to us anymore. Now we will start with heavier arms, a little more substantial, and we all fight and tell the government that this is enough,” said CGT official Jean-Claude Colin.

Albuquerque, New Mexico Will NOT Be Adding Fluoride To Water Supply

By Derrick Broze

Albuquerque, New Mexico will continue to maintain a fluoride-free water supply after the local water authority voted to remove funding for water fluoridation for the fiscal year 2017.

On Wednesday May 18, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority voted to remove proposed funding for water fluoridation from the utility’s 2017 budget. The Water Utility Authority had originally recommended spending $250,000 to add extra fluoride into the water supply to help the county reach federally recommended levels of fluoride. Bernalillo County’s supply is at 0.3 parts per million while the federal government recommends .7 parts per million.

Only weeks ago Hart Stebbins, a Bernalillo County commissioner, introduced a measure that would have required the water authority to add fluoride to the water supply to a level of 0.7 parts per million. However, on May 18, the board opted not to vote on the measure, effectively ending the bid for water fluoridation...

After announcing a global call to arms against the “corrupt global banking cartel,” the hacker collective, known as Anonymous, in conjunction with Ghost Squad Hackers, have taken over 30 central banks offline, including striking many targets at the heart of the Western imperialist empire...

Gun self-defense is a Natural Right

The confusion that exists in today’s mercurial society is a direct result of not understanding the nature of individual human rights. All valid authority is based upon willing consent. The cornerstone of human being personhood is the inalienable right of self-defense. This indisputable principle is under attack on all fronts by the “Politically Correct” authoritarians who see the individual as an inconvenient impediment to their bizarre vision of a social order based upon compelled obedience to a global agenda of destructive myths and false promises of a utopian world.

Paul Craig Roberts: "Americans Are A Conquered People"

The optimism that I see is that the public’s support of outsiders is an indication that the insouciant public is waking up. But Americans will have to do more than wake up, as they cannot rescue themselves via the voting booth. In my opinion, the American people will remain serfs until they wake up to Revolution.

New York Bill Would Allow Customers to Opt Out of Smart Meters; Undermine Federal Program

By Mike Maharrey

A bill working its way through the New York legislature would allow customers to opt out of installing “smart meter” technology on their homes and businesses. Passage of this bill would allow New Yorkers to protect their own privacy, and it would take a step towards block a federal program in effect.

Asm. Michael DenDekker (D – East Elmhurst), along with a bipartisan coalition of four cosponsors, introduced Assembly Bill 4364 (A4354) in January. The legislation would allow New Yorkers to opt out of any utility company smart meter program with no penalty...

NYT: Protesters And Prosecutor Should Be Friends

Gurley, an unarmed black man, was shot in a Brooklyn public housing staircase and left to bleed to death in the arms of a friend. While Gurley’s killer, rookie Peter Liang, was indicted and eventually fired from the department, he managed to avoid jail time, thanks in large part to Thompson. The Times, which somehow didn’t mention the Gurley family as it pedantically refuted the anger of a “vocal band of critics,” defended Thompson:

IT IS FAIR AND RIGHT TO QUESTION HOW MR. THOMPSON, AND PROSECUTORS EVERYWHERE, MAKE THEIR DECISIONS. BUT HIS OVERALL RECORD AND REFORM EFFORTS SHOW A FAR GREATER AWARENESS OF THE JUSTICE SYSTEM’S PROBLEMS THAN MANY IN HIS POSITION. PEOPLE WHO WANT A MORE JUST SYSTEM SHOULD SEE HIM AS AN ALLY.

Hammering For Peace

Last winter, at the Voices home/office in Chicago, we welcomed two friends who were in town for a Mennonite church gathering focused on the symbol of beating swords into plowshares. Their project embraces a vision from the biblical “Book of Isaiah” which longs for the day when “they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they study war anymore.” Our friends quite literally enact this vision. They use saws to cut guns and rifles in half and then hammer on the broken weapons, turning them into useful tools for gardening and light construction.

Monsanto’s Cotton Rejected Again: Burkina Faso Brings Back Indigenous Varieties

By Christina Sarich

Monsanto has been trying to take over Africa’s cotton for decades with their patented, genetically modified (GM) seed. Standing Up To Multinational Big-Ag: Nepal, Monsanto, and USAID

By Tony Cartalucci

Throughout history, controlling India was the key to controlling Nepal. British control over the landlocked nation was an extension of its control over India itself. Today, imperialism is far from a distant memory. It did not go “extinct,” rather, it merely “evolved.” Today, imperialism looks like national and international “aid programs” which are used as fronts and vectors for corporate special interests...

The Masses are Waking up, Nuit Debout Gatherings Spreading in Europe

Today on The Janssen Report: people are increasingly dissatisfied with the corruption and anti-social political decision-making in Europe. Nuit Debout is a new phenomenon that started in Paris on March 31st and is currently spreading to multiple countries (and numerous cities) in Europe. People gathering to discuss different topics on economics, politics and other matters they find of importance.
The corporate mainstream media hardly reports on it and if they do, they cover mostly the negative aspects (such as rioting).
I think it's a very positive sign of the masses waking up to the harsh reality of fascism and economic slavery that we are facing.

MAD ABOUT RIGGED ELECTIONS? MAINSTREAM MEDIA SAYS "YOU" ARE THE PROBLEM

It would be nice if Eichenwald’s hit piece were as much a joke as it comes across, but clearly he’s missed the point — and the vast movement supporting not only Sanders, but electoral justice. Worse, he didn’t stop there:

“Signs are emerging that the Sanders campaign is transmogrifying into the type of movement through which tyrants are born.

“The ugly was on display” at the aforementioned Nevada convention, Eichenwald adds, “where Hillary Clinton won more delegates than Sanders.”

No kidding. That would be precisely the issue that “cult” expressed fury about — Clinton managed to put yet another state under her belt under highly questionable circumstances. In fact, suspect happenings at nearly every primary and caucus so far oddly favor the former secretary of state — and Nevada stood as further testament to why voters are practically up in arms over what appears to be electoral favoritism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Clinton is obsessed with obtaining the power of the oval office, and by any means necessary; she, and the people around her, who understand the perks of power, are hell-bent to obtain it, and by any means necessary.

She and her supporters have the morals of a dead tree-stump, and have had their consciences collectively, and thoroughly, removed.

It is pretty easy to predict the ultimate outcomes of a Clinton presidency; more wars; the return of the draft; more income inequality (as she is owned, body and soul, by Wall Street and the military industrial and pharmaceutical industries); more job offshoring and outsourcing, leaving more Americans without meaningful jobs; and a complete collapse of the American economic system.

And don't get me wrong here; I would LOVE to see a woman as President; just, please, Lord, not THIS woman!!

"OUR WATER, OUR FUTURE": VOTERS IN OREGON DEFEAT NESTLÉ'S ATTEMPT TO PRIVATIZE THEIR WATER

In Hood River County, Oregon, voters recently passed a precedent-setting ballot initiative that will protect the community's water from industrial bottling operations. Organizers say they built a bipartisan campaign, resulting in nearly 70 percent of voters supporting the ban on commercial bottling in the county.

Blue yard signs bearing the words "Yes on 14-55: Our Water, Our Future" dotted lawns throughout Hood River County, Oregon, in the run-up to the primary election held on May 17. Just as many of these signs appeared to share a lawn with a Cruz or Trump yard sign as with a Clinton or Sanders sign.

The issue that brought conservatives and progressives together in this way was clear-cut: keeping Nestlé Waters North America from building a water bottling plant and extracting over 118 million gallons annually from a spring in a small, rural community 45 miles east of Portland.

"WE NEEDED TO ACT. IT WAS OUR MOMENT."

HOUSE REPUBLICANS RIG HEARING TO BLOCK CONSUMERS FROM GOING TO COURT

The ink was barely dry on a proposal by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to restore the rights of banking customers to take their grievances into a court of law instead of a system of forced arbitration, when House Republicans threw together a hearing yesterday to scaremonger over make-believe evils of the proposal. The hearing was convened by the Republican-controlled Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee and not-so-subtly titled “Examining the CFPB’s Proposed Rulemaking on Arbitration: Is it in the Public Interest and for the Protection of Consumers?”

The American Law Litigation Daily called the hearing “seriously lopsided.” ValueWalk called it “skewed.” We’re calling it brazenly rigged.
