Gay orgies and 'murder' scandals engulf Vatican

The Vatican has been embroiled in two separate, highly embarrassing, scandals.

In one, a north Italian priest has been removed from office after allegations emerged that he had been surfing the internet to find gay lovers and had been involved in gay orgies.

The other, which has generated – if possible – even more lurid press coverage in Italy, alleges a priest in the south of the country is under investigation on suspicion of murdering one of his parishioners.

Father Gratien Alabi, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, is under investigation for murder following the discovery of female bones under the flagstones of an ancient mountain chapel.

JON STEWART EXPLAINS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EASTER AND PASSOVER

Stewart urged his fellow Jews to “take it up a notch” when it comes to youth marketing. After all, it’s not like the story of Passover is totally uncool. “Moses parting the Red Sea? How have we not turned that into an amusement park?” he wondered.

Most critically, Passover could really use a make-believe character to rival the Easter Bunny. To that end, Stewart proposed “Passover Pete, the guitar-playing, pizza-eating lion.”

The Nineveh Plains Protection Unit: US Christians fund emerging private war on Iraq jihadists

After fighting with rebels in Libya and embracing the revolt in Syria, Matthew VanDyke has rolled up in northern Iraq, but the celebrity American revolutionary-cum-filmmaker has traded his fatigues for a three-piece suit.

VanDyke, who rose to fame as a foreign fighter backing Libyan rebels against Moamer Kadhafi, has just finished leading his new military contracting firm through its first assignment — training Christian volunteers to take on jihadists.

Funded by Christian groups from abroad, mainly from the United States, the Nineveh Plains Protection Unit (NPU) aims to bring a local Christian militia to bear against the Islamic State group that has seized swathes of Iraq and Syria.

VanDyke is one of the best-known — and least camera-shy — figures in an expanding and complex constellation of foreign fighters, organisations and donors getting involved in a private war against the jihadists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a Christian, I am very tired of seeing these battles in the Middle East characterised as a latter-day crusade.

Oh, I am quite certain that there are those in the military, in DC, and the various alphabet soup "security agencies" in this country who LOVE to see these "Christian Soldiers" get lots of press, to inflame the masses in this country to want to enlist and just tear up any Muslim in the region with their bare hands.

I would not bet against some covert US government agencies actually funding these activities.

There is only one minor problem, however: these movements in the Middle East are economic and political in nature, not religious.

Religion is just the window-dressing here, applied sort of like a smokescreen, to keep people from recognizing what is really going on.

It is about who is in control of the vast riches of the region of the Middle East and Africa, and in what currency these assets will be sold.

In this country, and around the world, people are waking up to this reality.

I am sure that these Christian mercenaries are well-intentioned. However, the harder thing to do is to ask those in control and power in this country why the US keeps propping up tin-pot dictators in places like Yemen and Bahrain, and keep getting surprised when a desperate civilian population has had enough, and - literally throw the bums out?!?

GOP pops poison pill

There is a poison pill inside the Republican Party and if its presidential hopefuls keep swallowing it, they are going to choke off their chances for the White House.

The religious right has managed to convince some potential candidates that it is extremely powerful. It has convinced the more gullible ones that they must grovel, kowtow and genuflect before it.

This is nonsense. As I have written before, the religious right has not gotten the nominee it has wanted since Ronald Reagan. It is a paper tiger.

And by taking the poison pill that the religious right offers, the potential candidates risk alienating the rest of the nation.

A Comprehensive Updated List of Every Celebrity Linked to Scientology

That Hollywood is overrun with adherents to the religion of Xenu is generally taken for granted as fact. Everyone knows about Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Beck; casual followers of Scientology or celebrity gossip may also know Kirstie Alley, Giovanni Ribisi, Juliette Lewis, and recent apostate Leah Remini. But who else? Below, you’ll find a list of every known celebrity who claims membership with the church, as well as lists of those who have dabbled in a few courses but never enlisted and of those who were once members but have since renounced their affiliation. Our definition of celebrity is relatively broad: you’ll find actors, mostly, but also a handful of musicians, screenwriters, directors, businesspeople.

New Indiana law takes us pre-civil rights era

Despite objections from Indiana's business leaders, GOP Gov. Mike Pence signed a new law in Indiana will allow public businesses to discriminate based on their personal convictions.

Holocaust Denial Laws: Evidence Inadmissable, Defense Forbidden

In the speech, Stolz discusses her experiences as a defence lawyer for so-called Holocaust deniers in Germany, and describes the Orwellian system of state-enforced repression there which denies defendants (and their lawyers!) the right to explain themselves under threat of additional charges for the “repeat offence” of expressing a forbidden idea, even in their own defence in a court of law. Stolz further relates how the subject of the Holocaust itself has never been clearly or adequately defined by the German courts through the normal channel of judicial findings-of-fact in precedent decisions. Instead, the courts have relied on the arbitrary doctrine that the facts of the Holocaust are “self-evident” and thus in no need of proof, despite the obvious objection that the arguments of the “deniers” themselves clearly demonstrate that those facts are indeed contestable and thus cannot be “self-evident” by definition.

5 Reasons Why Scientology Keeps Winning

Thanks to HBO's continual insistence on killing it in any given genre, the documentary Going Clear shocked the world last weekend with the revelation that an alien-worshiping religious group founded by a tax-evading sci-fi writer wasn't so great after all. Yes, Scientology sure is America's scary uncle, right down to the fact that it refuses to leave no matter how many court orders get sent.

So how is it that a group almost universally accepted as a grifting cult could still be able to operate legally? The reasons are more diabolically genius than you think, even if you watched the documentary -- because while the Church of Scientology is just regular ol' crazy when it comes to most things, it is crazy like a fox when it comes to legal matters.

Operation Clambake - Exposing Scientology since 1996

People should be free to believe whatever they want, including Scientology. What I have against the Church of Scientology (CoS) is its deceitfulness, its lack of compassion for its members (especially the hard-working staff), its aggressive hard sell, its arrogance, its attack on free speech, its litigiousness, its harassment of its critics, its lack of concern for families, its gross neglect and abuse of children, etc.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One of my encounters with Scientology took place at the very same time I got black-listed from Hollywood over the Vince Foster murder and in the very same building, which also housed CNN's Hollywood division. The owner of the computer animation company I was doing a project for at the time was deep into Scientology and the literature was all over the office. As it turned out, there was another company in the building named something-Interactive (I do not recall the exact name) which billed itself as a web design firm, but which was totally staffed with uniform-wearing Scientologists, one of whom (trying to recruit me) told me that it was actually the church's cyber-warfare center engaged in sabotaging websites critical of Scientology (such as Operation Clambake) and if that failed, planting evidence on those websites to get them shut down and if possibler, their owners arrested. They had even hacked into the FBI's computers to acquire damaging information to use on their enemies.

How Scientology controls John Travolta and Tom Cruise, according to ‘Going Clear’

HBO hired 160 lawyers when the network decided to air “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” the two-hour documentary based on Lawrence Wright’s book. This makes sense when you watch the film, directed by Alex Gibney, which aired Sunday night. Ex-Church of Scientology members and officials reveal secrets of the organization, and tell horror stories of psychological and physical abuse during their time in the controversial religion — and after they escaped. (For the record, the church unleashed a series of attack ads against the film and says that it’s “bigoted propaganda” and ” built on falsehoods invented by admitted liars.”)

Webmaster's Commentary:

One interesting story is how the Church of Scientology intentionally wrecked Tom Cruise's marriage to Nicole Kidman, who was seen as a threat to their control over Cruise, then created a "replacement" girlfriend to lure him back to the church.

5 Brainwashing Tricks That Work No Matter How Smart You Are

Everyone is talking about Scientology again, and why not? It's a billion-dollar cult apparently based on convincing actors they have superpowers. But there's no reason to single them out -- look around and you'll see the world is full of people who've either gotten brainwashed into doing something weird (like that co-worker who's way too into yoga) or murderous (like, you know, all those people who keep joining ISIS). You would never do something like that, of course, so what makes those people different?

Why is it so easy for evil/stupid movements to find followers -- including intelligent, well-educated ones? I'm pretty sure the future of civilization hangs on figuring this out, so here's what I've got:

Webmaster's Commentary:

Claire and I did watch (and record) HBO's "Going Clear" documentary last night. I already knew much of it from occasional encounters with them when I worked in Hollywood. If you have not seen "Going Clear", make a point of catching the rebroadcast!

Catholic Cardinal Raymond Burke Says Gays, remarried Catholics, murderers are all the same

When Pope Francis moved U.S. Cardinal Raymond Burke last year out of a senior post in the Vatican to a largely ceremonial role as head of a Rome-based Catholic charity, many viewed it as a way to sideline one of the pontiff’s most outspoken critics on the right.

But the move hasn’t silenced Burke, who served as the St. Louis archbishop from his installation in 2004 until 2008.

The American cardinal told an interviewer that gay couples and divorced and remarried Catholics who were trying to live good and faithful lives were still like “the person who murders someone and yet is kind to other people.”

Ron Paul: How Will the Yemeni Civil War End?

This idea that we can run an Empire with military threats, missiles, and economic sanctions is a fallacy.

The Civil War in Yemen is rapidly expanding. We have been forced to close our embassy and military base located there. It is now clear that Obama’s optimism for fighting terrorism in Yemen was misplaced. It hardly sets a standard for dealing with constant conflict and chaos throughout the Middle East.

So far the various factions that we have supported over the years have been poor choices, as usual.

Hopefully someday our government officials will wake up. The counterinsurgency doctrine that was supposed to be the answer to all our military shortcomings is a total failure.

6 Desperate Ways the Church of Scientology Is Trying to Stop 'Going Clear'

The Church of Scientology has a well-publicized history of going after its critics with everything it has, including its tons and tons of dollars, which reportedly total about $3 billion. Here are six ways Scientology, gloves off, is going after Gibney and everyone involved in "Going Clear."

Others are killing their children for various reasons. None of them are being called a 'semi miracle'. Arguably, the popes have killed far, far more children than any of these small time operators and they often have sex with them first. In a smaller but no less powerful farce of a religion they also eat them, which I presume means they killed them too. I don't know about the sexual end but I think for the latter, the killing of them provides that experience. Am I being facetious? No. Is there documentation for this sort of thing? Most certainly there is. A large amount of people would scoff and say, “That is offensive and outrageous and patently untrue”. These are the sort of people who have NO historical awareness except what is force fed into their heads by the people who do these things.

St. Gennaro's Blood Relic Miraculously Liquefies in the Presence of Pope Francis in Naples

The blood relic of St. Gennaro, patron saint of Naples, today miraculously liquefied in the presence of Pope Francis, the first time the miracle has occurred in the presence of a pontiff since 1848.

20 of the World’s Weirdest Religious Beliefs

Americans in past generations lived in a sea of religion inherited largely from the Middle East by way of Europe, with home grown refinements. Most still do. When Americans venture off the continent, one of the things many find fascinating is the religious beliefs they encounter. Some people worship flying monkeys, or magical big breasted dancers, or Prince Phillip.

From the outside, beliefs like these seem fantastical and unlikely. They played a key role in evoking such ethnocentric ideas as noblesse oblige and manifest destiny and white man’s burden. But if we could see our own culture from an outside vantage point, as if we were travelers, the world might look a little different. Even one of the Bible writers pointed out that self-examination is the first order of business. Why are you looking at the speck in your brother’s eye, he asked (to paraphrase), when you have a plank in your own?

Friedman suggests the U.S. should arm ISIS – thus joining the Saudi-Israeli regional war on Iran and the Shiites – it seems time to question the sanity of U.S. opinion- and policy-makers. But that is where the muddled U.S. post-9/11 strategy has led, explains Daniel Lazare.

To evangelicals, Zionism an increasingly tough sell

While the lobby giant AIPAC wields power in Washington, evangelical Christians have long been the grassroots base of Israel advocacy in the US. But that support is eroding.

According to a National Association of Evangelicals poll, forty percent of US evangelical leaders have changed their thinking about Israel over the past fifteen years.

The most common change? “A greater awareness of the struggles faced by the Palestinian people,” the survey concludes.

The Horrifying Ways Jehovah Witnesses Keep Child Abuse Victims Silent

What my parents didn’t know, was that Jonathan had sexually molested another girl in our congregation. The elders knew this and had kept it a secret. They were following orders from Watchtower leaders, based in the world headquarters in New York, who in 1989 had issued a top-secret instruction to keep known child sex abusers in the congregations a secret. This instruction became Exhibit 1 at my civil trial.

The Saker interviews Gilad Atzmon

It has been already 6 years since I interviewed Gilad for the first time and when a friend recently suggested that it was time for a new conversation, I immediately agreed, as did Gilad who, in spite of his over-booked and hectic lifestyle took the time to reply to my questions. Gilad is, in my opinion, not only the most original and talented jazz musician currently composing and playing (make sure to get his latest CD “The Whistle Blower“), he is also an extremely profound philosopher who has the amazing courage not only to ask the key questions, but to also answer them. His book “The Wandering Who” is, I strongly believe, a must read for anybody wanting to see through the “fog” of modern “Jewish anti-Zionism”. As somebody who has gotten his share of hate mail, I can only begin to imagine the kind of hate-filled poison which Gilad has had to put up with for his courage and even though he will not speak about it, I will say that it takes exceptional courage and moral strength to do what Gilad did and is still doing.

Landmark New York Synagogue attempts to shut down Nakba discussion

On the eve of an important event scheduled to take place this evening featuring representatives from two vital human rights organizations discussing issues critical to achieving a just and sustainable solution to the crisis in Palestine and Israel, the Executive Director of a tony uptown synagogue where the event was contracted to take place, has attempted to cancel the event.

In what can only be perceived as an effort to shut down discussion and silence discourse of the “Ongoing Nakba” within New York’s Jewish community, one day before the program with Palestinian human rights organization, Badil (whose timely recently released Corporate Complicity in Violations of International Law in Palestine [pdf] is a must read), and Israeli human rights organization Zochrot, the Lincoln Square Synagogue (LSS) on Manhattan’s Upper West Side canceled the event with no explanation.

Supreme Court to rule today on religious teaching in schools

The Supreme Court of Canada is set to issue a ruling this morning that could determine how religion is taught in some schools.

The case centres on Loyola High School in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood, a private Catholic school that wants to opt out of Quebec's ethics and religious culture program.

Loyola High School was founded by the Jesuits in 1896 with the mission of teaching with a Catholic perspective.

When the Quebec government introduced its provincewide ethics and religious culture course in 2008, Loyola tried to get an exemption — but failed.

Bad For Business: Church Installs Watering System to Drench Sleeping Homeless People

A Catholic church in San Francisco has made a decision that will undoubtedly be met with heavy backlash. They have installed a “watering system” that sprays water on homeless people who attempt to sleep on its grounds. It’s not just any Catholic church either. It is the cathedral at Geary and Gough, home church of the Archbishop.

San Francisco Saint Mary’s Cathedral Drenches Homeless With Water To Keep Them Away

KCBS has learned that Saint Mary’s Cathedral, the principal church of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, has installed a watering system to keep the homeless from sleeping in the cathedral’s doorways.

The cathedral, at Geary and Gough, is the home church of the Archbishop. There are four tall side doors, with sheltered alcoves, that attract homeless people at night.

“They actually have signs in there that say, ‘No Trespassing,’” said a homeless man named Robert.

But there are no signs warning the homeless about what happens in these doorways, at various times, all through the night. Water pours from a hole in the ceiling, about 30 feet above, drenching the alcove and anyone in it.

How very Christian of them!

New World Order Spirituality: Blueprint for a Global Religious Authority

For some time now, political and economic decision-making power has devolved away from citizens and the nation-state to global multilateral organisations. As these organisations shape a new global order favouring corporate and financial elites, local populations have a diminished say in economic decisions affecting them – especially when represented by careerist politicians more aligned to the global elite.

Lately there have been signs of a top-down push for the globalisation of religion as well, with calls for global political authority over the world’s spirituality.

Bibi and 47 Senators Strike Dark Discordant Note

Newly-elected Senator Cotton and neocon leader Bill Kristol are now doing the work of AIPAC, and their pro-Israel, anti-Iran funders are standing with a foreign leader on a foreign policy issue against their own president.

It could be Netanyahu again, even if he runs second in the final results. If the Herzog-Livni coalition is successful, they have already announced that they will rotate the office of Prime Minister.

Whatever the final outcome, AIPAC will be standing by, awaiting its marching orders.

Peak Pathetic – Chinese Authorities Claim Control Over the Dalai Lama’s Reincarnation Process

The relative lack of political and internet freedom in China is well known, as is the egregious treatment of the Tibetan people. Despite having controlled Tibet since 1949, and the subsequent intentional migration of ethnic Han Chinese into the region in order to dilute the culture, Chinese authorities remain paranoid and filled with fear. So much so that the government is panicking at recent statements by the Dalai Lama that he may not be reincarnated. This screws up the government’s plan to name the next Dalai Lama and use him as a puppet stooge for the regime. Truly embarrassing.

How Iran and the US intersect in “Syraq”

The self-described “Don’t Do Stupid Stuff” Obama administration, with its rambling foreign policy, is driving the real Masters of the Universe who control the current world system absolutely crazy.

A cliffhanger debate will take place this Wednesday at the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Picture Secretary of State John Kerry, new Pentagon supremo Ashton Carter, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey all testifying in the same room.

The meat of the matter: the House of Cards, sorry, US Congress mulling over what’s the real deal behind the Obama administration’s proposal to use “military force” in Syria, and whether to impose a no-fly zone to protect Syrian “rebels”.

Arkansas Republican Gave Adopted Girls to Rapist Because They Were ‘Possessed By Demons’

The story of Arkansas state Rep. According to KNWA news, a former employee of Justin Harris’ Growing God’s Kingdom — who was also a mother of a student in the school — came forward Wednesday to discuss the bizarre pseudo-religious rituals Harris and his wife Marsha would perform on students as a routine part of daily life at the school.

Removing Israel from American politics

It is writing such as this, which illustrates and illuminates the extent of Zionist infiltration in the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave," which will drive home to the "American" public what has happened to their "dream, which may eventually stir them to action of some sort to bring it to an end... if anything will!

It is certainly past time to push back against an organization that is brazenly promoting the interests of a foreign government at the expense of the American people.

Shutting Down AIPAC

I would like to concentrate on two issues. First is the nature of the special relationship between Israel and the United States and second is the role of the Israel Lobby and most particularly AIPAC in shaping that relationship.

Getting Past the Issue of Being Jewish

In the United States we may be approaching a tipping point in the struggle against Zionist racism and Israeli oppression.

The struggle is against racism, discrimination, oppression, occupation and illegal colonization because they are evils no matter who perpetrates them.

The Israeli case has to be prioritized because Israel and its Zionist allies have bought and bullied our own government and political parties in a corrupting manner.
