December 2018 NICS Background Checks make Second Highest on Record

Oregon Anti-Gunners Launch Attack; 20 Rounds a Month in One Bill!

Under provisions of SB 501, receipt of a firearm without a valid permit could land someone in jail for up to 364 days, and impose a fine of up to $6,250. Failure to secure a firearm with a cable or trigger lock, or in a locked box, could result in 30 days behind bars and a $1,250 fine. -- But the most alarming tenet of the bill is a restriction on the amount of ammunition someone can purchase in any 30-day period. SB 501 would limit someone to getting 20 rounds a month. Critics say this ammunition limit is nonsense, as it would effectively preclude practice for competitors, and would be a burden on hunters, especially those who hunt waterfowl or upland birds.

Shooting survivor and U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) says the Democrats refused his request to testify against the gun control currently being pushed in the House.

Steve Scalise says Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) asked Democrats to let Scalise give testimony before the House Judiciary Committee and they told him no.

Fox News reports that Scalise decided to make public the testimony he would have given, testimony that explains why universal background checks will not reduce gun violence or make Americans safer.

Crime News Favors Armed Citizens: Defense Of Life, Liberty, And Property Are Basic Human Rights

The exercise of Second Amendment rights in defense of self or others is not a rare or extraordinary event, but a daily occurrence in the lives of ordinary Americans doing ordinary things. However, most don’t use it in defense of the government. But there could come a time when it is necessary. And that’s what makes it a basic human right. No one should ever be enslaved to the point that they have to die or be stolen from. We’ve already seen what can happen when Nazi’s take over and a nation succumbs to complete socialist rule. Not to mention how brutally bad the democide is when communism takes a hold. -- Democide (when governments kill the people they rule over): the largest killer of humans in history other than natural causes. Ignore all of the evidence, the facts, and the truth to your own detriment. History has a bad habit of repeating itself.

December 2018 NICS Background Checks make Second Highest on Record

The National Instant Background Checks System (NICS) checks for December of 2018 were 2,543,385. They were just a little less (42,753) than NICS checks for December of 2017. That makes them the fourth highest December on record and puts the total for 2018 as the second highest year of NICS checks on record with 26,181,936. The top year was 2016, with 27,438,673. -- Two things conspired to bring about the “Trump Slump”. The first is that President Trump is not Hillary Clinton. Gun owners are not as concerned about being able to purchase the gun and ammunition they want. There is also less fear of emotionally driven politics will be used to deny them the guns they wish to have. -- The second part is many NICS checks are for other purposes. Once we take out the background checks done for permits and permit renewals, The numbers drop. The numbers of permit and permit recheck numbers for December of 2018 were 737,926 and 285,273, respectively.

A good guy with a gun has saved many lives in Florida – something the media rarely report

Thankfully, a heroic citizen with a permit to legally carry a concealed handgun was able to save countless lives in Florida Saturday when he shot a gunman who opened fire on a back-to-school event attended by over 150 students at a park in Titusville, Florida.

The media rarely give national news coverage to incidents like this, but responsible gun owners have stepped forward in this way many times before to save lives. In fact, concealed handgun permit holders have prevented dozens of mass public shootings just in recent years, while receiving only brief mentions in local news coverage.

Fortunately, only the attacker was injured in Titusville. The gun permit holder shot him in the head to keep the attacker from shooting any children and adults in the park. Neither the permit holder nor the attacker have been identified so far by police. The attacker suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized.

“The SUV driver ultimately came to a stop, we believe with the intervention of some good Samaritans, and was taken into custody by responding troopers,” Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said. . . .

House Democrats to introduce gun bill on anniversary of Gabrielle Giffords shooting

On the eighth anniversary of the day when then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head and nearly assassinated, U.S. House Democrats are set to introduce legislation to expand background checks to nearly every gun sale.

Giffords, D-Ariz., who served in Congress from 2007 to 2012, is expected to join House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at an event in Washington that signals political and social shifts on gun control after years of high-profile mass shootings with no significant political action to stop them.

"Our Democratic Majority will press relentlessly for bipartisan progress to end the epidemic of gun violence on our streets, in our schools and in our places of worship," Pelosi said in a statement. "Enough is enough.”

New York is Truly Becoming the Empire State, Democrat Gun Banners Rape NY Rights

Congress to Take Up Gun Control This Week

On January 8th, 2019, two bills were introduced in Congress to impose so-called “universal” background checks. South Dakota becomes latest state to allow concealed handguns without permit

South Dakota has become the latest state to remove permit requirements for gun owners to carry and conceal their weapons.

The state’s new Republican governor, Kristi Noem, signed SB 47 into law Thursday. The legislation permits residents to legally carry a firearm concealed on their person so long as they are allowed to possess one.

The bill passed the state Senate by a 23-11 vote and the state House by a vote of 47-23, reports said. In a tweet, Noem said the new law reflects the vision of the Founding Fathers and protects Second Amendment gun rights.

"Our Founding Fathers believed so firmly in our right to bear arms that they enshrined it into the Constitution," the governor tweeted. "This constitutional carry legislation will further protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding South Dakotans."

The Fraternal Order of Police argued that there has never been a study that showed having armed police in schools makes the school more dangerous. They argued the opposite. Their arguments fall on deaf ears when it comes to the school board. -- Baltimore is the only school district in Maryland that prevents law enforcement officers from carrying their sidearms.

Science, Fantasy, and Superstition – Gun Control Fails the Evidence Test

Things don’t turn out the way we imagined or the way we wanted. We make good-sounding excuses for bad ideas. Unfortunately, some of these ideas were bad from the start. We were sold a lie because it benefitted some politicians and their special interests. Life is more complex than a politician’s promise. -- There is one thing, however, that we do know for sure. When the government and the criminals are the only ones with have guns, then the elites have all the power. That frightens me. -- Maybe I’m overly trusting. My neighbors may not be perfect, but I’d rather trust my neighbors to own a gun responsibly than trust a lawmaker who exempts himself from our laws. Liberty is dangerous, but it is the safest solution we have.

The Real Resistance: Washington State Sheriffs Refuse To Enforce Unconstitutional Gun Laws

Washington state recently introduced bills for some of the strictest gun laws in the country but they have some very important opponents: the sheriffs.

Long thought to be the last line of defense between authoritarianism and freedom, sheriffs are in a unique position. As elected officials, basically nobody has authority over them – not the judges, not the Feds – no one except the people who may or may not choose to re-elect them.

What are those new gun laws in Washington?
In November, Washington voters passed a ballot initiative, I-1639. To purchase a semi-automatic rifle, buyers must be over 21, undergo an enhanced background check, must have completed a safety course, and need to wait 9 days to take possession of their weapon. And that’s not all. A gun owner who doesn’t store his or her weapon “properly” can be prosecuted.

New York State Strikes Again With SAFE Act 2.0 Restricting Gun Rights Like Never Before

Conservative Supreme Court majority to hear biggest gun rights case since 2010, Review New York Gun Law

A newly solidified conservative majority on the Supreme Court agreed Tuesday to take up a Second Amendment case for the first time since 2010.

At issue is a challenge to a provision of a New York City gun law that regulates where a licensed handgun owners can take their firearm. The law blocks licensed individuals from removing a handgun from the address listed on the license except to travel to nearby authorized small arms range/shooting clubs.

It is the first substantive gun rights cases the court has heard since Justice Antonin Scalia’s landmark opinion in 2008 holding that the Constitution protects an individual’s right to keep a gun at home and a follow up case in 2010. Since those opinions came down, the Court has declined to take up several other follow up cases to the frustration of supporters of guns rights.

Red Flag Gun Laws – Public Safety or Abuse of the Innocent?

There is a bias in politician's press releases and in the slanted news. Stories about violence get politicians in front of TV cameras. The good guy with a gun that stopped a crime from happening isn’t even considered news. The scales are tipped; tragedy becomes front page news while the triumph of a life saved is hardly mentioned.

Virginia’s Democratic Governor’s Anti-Gun Package Is Straight-Up Confiscation

Elections have consequences and all elections matter, especially at the state and local level. For nearly ten years, the Virginia Republican Party has yet to win another statewide race; the 2009 gubernatorial election was the last time they won. In 2017, Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam beat Ed Gillespie, and they virtually wiped out the GOP in the state. The GOP maintains two-seat majorities in both the House of Delegates and the state Senate. It’s not pretty, given that Republicans use to control over 60 seats. That sizable majority was the reason why former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, another Democrat, couldn’t push a far left agenda. He even signed into law a deal on the state’s concealed carry reciprocity laws, which were about to be shredded by state Attorney General Mark Herring, who is considering running for governor in 2021; Virginia bars consecutive terms for governors.

Demonized : In Politics It Seems Only Firearm Suicides Are Bad

Blaming guns (and gun owners) may be convenient for those with an agenda, but the awful truth is 4.5 times as many people hang or poison themselves every year as end their lives with a bullet. -- Why will nobody talk about those tragic losses of life? Or is suicide only bad when a gun is used?

ATF Bump Stock Rule Demonstrates the Dangers Inherent in Administrative Actions

If Trump and the DOJ-ATF are allowed to get away with this subterfuge, then it is but a small step from a total ban on “bump stocks” to a total ban on all semiautomatic firearms, since rate of fire—utilized as the salient and subjective basis for elimination of firearms in the hands of civilians—will now provide the “ammunition” antigun zealots can and will latch onto in their unyielding zeal to continue to weaken the Second Amendment. And it is Trump, now, not Schumer or Pelosi, who has given them a vehicle they can and will use to destroy at once the citizen’s best means of self-defense and destroy, as well, the one truly capable defense in the citizen’s possession, to prevent or at least deter the onset of tyranny.
