EU changes rules to extend Russian sanctions without unanimity among its 28 members

Although officials didn’t spell it out explicitly, the formulation aims to reverse the burden of proof for extending the sanctions, which include bans on the sales of arms or sophisticated equipment for the oil and gas industry, along with measures that effectively stop Russia and its largest banks from using western capital markets.

US Combat Forces, FBI and CIA in Ukraine: Vice President Biden Congratulates Poroshenko for Violating Minsk Peace Agreement

Obama continues using Kiev junta proxies to wage war on Donbass. He’s gone all-out to sabotage multiple peace efforts spearheaded by Russia.

He didn’t wage war to quit. He’s supplying Kiev with heavy weapons, munitions and other US aid.

US combat forces are in Ukraine working directly with its military. CIA and FBI operatives infest Kiev.

On March 18, Joe Biden called Poroshenko. He congratulated him for violating Minsk.

US Taxpayers To Fund Ukraine Bailout With Bond Guarantee

CCC-rated Ukraine is preparing to issue more debt, debt with a Aa+/AAA rating because it will come with the explicit guarantee of the United States of America. In other words, after raiding Greek pensions with the IMF's blessing, the Kiev puppet government is now going after the "full faith and credit" of the US... backed by its taxpayers. In yet other words, the latest Ukraine "bailout" is courtesy of you, dear US taxpaying reader.

NATO, Russian Officials Clash Over Situation in Europe

Top officials from NATO and Russia clashed sharply in public Friday over who is to blame for the dramatically worsened state of East-West relations.

“The big difference is that we are a defensive alliance,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told a member of Russia’s parliament. “You send troops into other countries.”

The Russian, Konstantin Kosachev, flatly denied Russia is using its regular troops in Ukraine. He said the U.S.-led alliance talks a lot these days about the need to respect international law and a country’s borders and sovereignty, but that it had bombed a sovereign nation, the former Yugoslavia, in 1999.

Meet the Pilot Who SHOT DOWN Malaysian Boeing MH-17 – Vladislav Voloshin: “Plane Was in the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time”

This man came to the editorial office of “Komsomolskaya Pravda” by himself. We checked his papers – he is not an actor and not a fake person. We can not yet reveal his personal information – he still has relatives in Ukraine and is afraid of revenge and blackmail. Judging by what Alexander (let’s name him that) told us, the fear is substantiated. We provide a transcript of our conversation virtually uncut:

America’s Dead-End in the Middle East

When empires weaken, they don’t merely withdraw. Rather, they leave behind a trail of broken promises and confusion.

When columnist Thomas L. Friedman suggests the U.S. should arm ISIS – thus joining the Saudi-Israeli regional war on Iran and the Shiites – it seems time to question the sanity of U.S. opinion- and policy-makers. But that is where the muddled U.S. post-9/11 strategy has led, explains Daniel Lazare.

Cuba – Between a Rock and a Hard Place

On 17 December 2014, President Obama declared that 55 years of embargo didn’t work in bringing ‘freedom’ to Cuba. He proposed reestablishing diplomatic relations with the southern neighbor. An emotion of joy shook the world, especially Latin America. Raul Castro received wires and calls of congratulations. Cubans cheered “we won, we won!” – The US Congress right wing was not quite ready for this initiative and, indeed, there was no concrete mention of how and when the ‘blockade’ would be lifted.

Two days after Obama’s bold initiative, on 19 December 2015, he went to the Washington Press Club to tell a horde of puppet journalists, conservative politicians and onlookers that soft measures, like reestablishing diplomatic relations with Havana might be more successful in bringing the desired regime change to Cuba than more years of isolation. He couldn’t have been more direct and more honest about his intention. The Cuban Government and whoever else listened didn’t miss the point.

The Iron Law of Oligarchy Returns

The death of Danny Schechter, “the News Dissector,” at age 72 from cancer marks a sad moment for independent journalism. Schechter’s was a strong voice against the empty platitudes and blatant hypocrisies that have come to define modern American media and politics, as he explained in an article last year.

The word “Oligarchy” has finally come home. For years, it was a term only used in connection with those big bad and sleazy Mafioso-type businessmen in Russia. Russia had Oligarchs; we didn’t. That became a big difference between the official narrative of what separated our “land of the free and the home of the brave” from “them” in the post-Soviet period.

In the state Duma proposed to give bloggers the status of the media

Google Translate: The bill requires the addition of a list of media the term "blogger". This refers to the owner of the site and / or site pages on the Internet that host a public information and access to which during the day is more than three thousand users.

So, blogger is granted the status of the media in the organization of the dissemination of information on the Internet as well as have the rights and responsibilities of the journalist.

Without the adoption of this law bloggers equated to journalists, to be compared to them at a disadvantage, as it does not have the status and completeness of the journalist's right provided by law, the author notes the explanatory note to the bill.

The U.S. Has No Defense Against A Russian Nuclear Attack. Really.

The Obama Administration is proposing that the United States spend about a billion dollars per week in the fiscal year beginning October 1 to defend Afghanistan, Iraq and other nations against various threats they face. That’s how much money is in the Pentagon’s request for “overseas contingency operations.”

So guess how much money the administration is seeking to defend America’s homeland against an attack from Russia using nuclear-armed ballistic missiles. Russia has about 1,600 missile warheads capable of reaching U.S. territory, and if even a small fraction were launched, they could wipe out our electric grid, our financial networks, and quite possibly the whole U.S. economy.

The answer is that the administration is proposing to spend nothing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is another defense contractor bellying up to the trough for their share of the war profits.

Russia Under Attack — Paul Craig Roberts

While Washington works assiduously to undermine the Minsk agreement that German chancellor Merkel and French president Hollande achieved in order to halt the military conflict in Ukraine, Washington has sent Victoria Nuland to Armenia to organize a “color revolution” or coup there, has sent Richard Miles as ambassador to Kyrgyzstan to do the same there, and has sent Pamela Spratlen as ambassador to Uzbekistan to purchase that government’s allegiance away from Russia. The result would be to break up the Collective Security Treaty Organization and present Russia and China with destabilization where they can least afford it. For details go here: http://russia-insider.com/en/2015/03/18/4656

Thus, Russia faces the renewal of conflict in Ukraine simultaneously with three more Ukraine-type situations along its Asian border.

And this is only the beginning of the pressure that Washington is mounting on Russia.

Intel: Is Kiev About to Break Minsk Accords? New Offensive on Donbass and False Flags to Sabotage Victory Day in Russia

in two or three weeks Kiev is expected to start a massive new offensive on Donbass. False flags, provocations and terrorist acts to sabotage, or make more difficult, the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory (WWII Victory Day) celebration in Russia on May 9th are also possible. Since Nemtsov murder near Kremlin, Russians are on full alert; therefore, I expect it won’t be possible in Moscow and/or the main Russian cities. But Ukraine and Donbass are a different story.

Lavrov on Alleged MH17 Crash Witnesses’ Accounts: Looks Like Hoax

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday questioned Western media reports on the crash of flight MH17 in Ukraine based on alleged eyewitnesses.

"What was published by the Reuters news agency, a reputed and respected media outlet, looks very much like, you know, what is called a hoax. There are some eyewitnesses who contradict each other and say things that sound bizarre to any expert, for example, a zigzagging missile, separating stages, a trail of blue smoke," he said.

At the same time, Lavrov said, Western media ignore officially documented information from eyewitnesses previously obtained by Russian media and investigators, including those indicating the presence of a Ukrainian military jet in the vicinity of the doomed flight.

NATO Fumes as Russia Signs Treaty with South Ossetia

NATO is furious, again, claiming the treaty is in violation of international law. NATO does not recognize South Ossetian independence and insists every treaty they enter is a violation.

South Ossetia was an autonomous oblast in the Georgian Soviet Republic during the Soviet era, and declared independence in 1990 when the Soviet Union collapsed. Georgia has repeatedly, unsuccessfully, tried to conquer them.

The most recent war came in 2008, when Georgian forces attacked both South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers, starting the brief Russo-Georgian War, in which Georgia’s military was virtually wiped out.

Kiev Shifts Goalposts as Merkel Skews Wide

Unfortunately, the prognosis is that if Merkel cannot see the glaring truth of the situation by now... then there is not much hope of the chancellor ever coming to a realistic political position on Ukraine...And, grimly, that means the outlook for further conflict is not good.

Kiev President Petro Poroshenko unveiled a new dimension of international sanctions against Russia this week, while being royally entertained by German leaders in Berlin. Netanyahu’s Victory: Now What President Obama?

Netanyahu's outright rejection of a Palestinian state and his promise to go on building more and more illegal settlements leave Obama without any wriggle room.

“Love him (Netanyahu) or hate him, this is the face of Israel.” That’s how Uriel Heilman concluded an article for the JTA (Jewish Telegraph Agency) on Netanyahu’s election victory after noting that he had shown his true colours by declaring that there would be no Palestinian state while he is in charge. What President Obama now has to decide is whether or not he will allow Netanyahu to remain in charge of American policy for Israel-Palestine.

Netanyahu Unmasks Israel

With the facades gone, Americans must decide if they will embrace this apartheid system or not...

Desperate to win reelection, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stripped off Israel’s mask and exposed the ugliness that has deformed his country over the past several decades. He abandoned the subterfuge of a two-state solution, exposed the crass racism that underlies Israeli politics, and revealed Israel’s blatant control of the U.S. Congress.

For years, U.S. politicians have rejected allegations of Israeli racism and excused mistreatment of the Palestinians as a temporary necessity that would be fixed by a two-state solution. But Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has destroyed those arguments in his panic to keep his job, reports Robert Parry.

Lavrov condemns Reuters report on MH17 crash, calls for 'unbiased, professional' investigation

“[There are] some witnesses, who contradict one another, and express things amusing for any specialist. For instance, some wiggling rocket, separating rocket stages, blue clouds of smoke,” the minister said, adding such information has been provided by alleged eyewitnesses, who managed to see the crash despite being 25 kilometers (15 miles) away from it, in cloudy weather.

According to Reuters, villagers in eastern Ukraine “saw a missile flying directly overhead just before a Malaysian airliner was shot out of the sky on July 17 last year, providing the most detailed accounts to date that suggest it was fired from territory held by pro-Russian rebels.”

It also underscored the support of the EU for Ukraine, which had urged the member nations to maintain the pressure that the sanctions bring on Russia.

Lavrov: Washington is pushing Kiev to military solution of Donbass conflict

The US is inciting Kiev to end the crisis in eastern Ukraine by force, said the Russian foreign minister citing US support of the recent Ukrainian law on the special self-governing status of Donbass, which Moscow says undermines the Minsk-2 deal.

“If Washington welcomes the action, which undermines the Minsk agreements, then we can only conclude that Washington is inciting Kiev to resolve the issue by military means,” said Lavrov at a media conference in Moscow on Thursday.

His comments were a reference to the telephone conversation between US Vice-President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday, during which Biden welcomed the decision by the Ukrainian parliament to give special status to Donbass.

46% of West Ukrainians Say Maidan Failed to Uproot Corruption, 20% Prepared to Participate in another Uprising

At the start of February, Poroshenko’s approval ratings dropped below 50% for the first time since he took office in June, according to a nationwide poll conducted by the Research & Branding Group, a leading Ukrainian pollster. More alarming for his government, nearly half of respondents in the survey (46%) said the revolution had failed to meet its goals of uprooting corruption. One in five said they were prepared to take part in another uprising to finish the work of the last one. “This is an incredibly huge number,” says Evgeny Kopatko, the director of the polling agency. “It shows that the protest potential is still extremely high. Obama’s Double-Standard on Russia

Ukraine is considered by geostrategists (both Republican and Democratic) to be militarily the most important adjoining nation to Russia, serving as the chief buffer to attacks against Russia from the west. Since 1783, Russia has had its key Black Sea naval base located in Crimea, which used to be part of Russia 1783-1954; the Soviet Union’s Nikita Khrushchev blithely donated Crimea from Russia to Ukraine in 1954, though the residents in Crimea didn’t want that — and no referendum was taken on it. After the Soviet Union broke up in 1992, this naval base continued but instead on a long-term lease from Ukraine.

Even a seasoned cynic sometimes gasps in disbelief. “President Putin misinterprets much of what the U.S. is doing or trying to do,” U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told a press conference in Geneva on March 2. “We are not involved in ‘numerous color revolutions’ as he asserts. Crimea Documentary Reveals How Close Russia Came to Shootout with NATO

Now that UK and US trainers are being dispatched to Ukraine, now that joint military exercises with NATO are being prepared there are in place all the preconditions for yet another ‘false flag’ provocation such as have marked turning points in the Russia-West relationship over the past year. First there was the sniper fire on Maidan that ‘justified’ the coup d’etat. Next came the downing of the Malaysian airline, which was instantly placed at Russia’s door and justified severe sanctions. Should snipers successfully kill NATO soldiers on Ukrainian soil, we may easily expect the next lurch towards war with Russia which may be unstoppable.

With Putin Back, Trail of Mainstream Media Hysteria Remains

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post

Vladmir Putin has been found or, more accurately, Vladmir Putin has reappeared putting an end to all the ridiculous rumors surrounding his nine-day absence from public view. While having canceled only one public meeting and otherwise remaining on schedule, the Western media went into overdrive to convince someone – (whether Russian or American it is not fully clear) – that Putin had been ousted, killed, or otherwise “neutralized.”

Most likely, the Western press was attempting to capitalize on the nine-day absence by Putin in order to sow seeds of destabilization in Russian society and to decrease whatever faith in their governmental system that Russians may have...

EU-US Power Play Behind Regime Change in Russia

With “friends” like European Council President Donald Tusk and top NATO commander Gen. Philip Breedlove, the EU certainly doesn’t need enemies.

Gen. Breedhate has been spewing out his best Dr. Strangelove impersonation, warning that evil Russia is invading Ukraine on an everyday basis. The German political establishment is not amused.

Tusk, while meeting with US President Barack Obama, got Divide and Rule backwards; he insisted, “foreign adversaries” were trying to divide the US and the EU – when it’s actually the US that is trying to divide the EU from Russia. Is it possible for one eccentric professor to neutralize the enormous years-long labors of thousands of highly skilled scientists, engineers, and workers to develop precision "smart weapons" at the cost of tens of billions of dollars? "Easy," as they say in Russia. A St. Petersburg scientist, Dr. of Technical Sciences Valentin Vladimirovich Kashinov, has managed to do just that. Valentin Kashinov made his "contribution" to the defense capability of the US and NATO, practically knocking out the latest, multi-billion dollar military space system, and at the same time raising doubts about the advisability of Washington's development of a national ABM defense.

In the process, Russia is discovering positive attributes about her culture, her people, her land that had long been forgotten or suppressed.
