Saudi-led coalition bombs Yemen airport to prevent Iranian plane from landing

Jets of a Saudi Arabian-led coalition bombed Sanaa airport on Tuesday to prevent an Iranian plane from landing in the war-torn country, Yemeni officials and Iranian state media reported.

A runway, a civilian aircraft and part of a terminal building at Sanaa international airport were destroyed after being struck by missiles.

The attack forced two Iranian planes that had flown into Yemen over neighboring Oman to turn back, according to a Yemeni official.

"The planes were carrying medical aid and entered Yemeni airspace this morning," the official told Middle East Eye via Skype.

Fighting escalates across Yemen, air strikes on capital Sanaa

There were at least five air strikes on military positions and an area near the presidential palace compound in the Houthi-held capital Sanaa at dawn on Sunday, while warships pounded an area near the port of the southern city of Aden, residents said.

"The explosions were so big they shook the house, waking us and our kids up. Life has really become unbearable in this city," a Sanaa resident who gave his name as Jamal told Reuters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Shame on Reuters (who have banned me from commenting on their site) for continuing to spin that the conflict in Yemen is somehow Iran's fault. Back in 2012, the US intervened and kicked out President Salah, installing a US puppet ruler Hadi. The people of Yemen tried to kick Hadi out and bring back Salah and that is why the US, using Saudi Arabia as a proxy, is bombing Yemen, to punish them for daring to think Yemen should be run for the benefit of the Yemenite people.

And, while the blood is still wet in Yemen, it looks like the US, using Egypt as a proxy, is about to attack Libya for trying to kick out the US puppet ruler imposed on them following the US invasion and murder of Gaddafi.

Mexico Police – Trained to Kill

This is an outrage!

Sixteen people killed in cold blood by the Mexican Federal Police; unarmed people of an auto-defense movement – in January 2015; just discovered by a team of investigative journalists.

Mexicans well remember the mass killing of 43 Ayotzinapa students of last September, unarmed students of a college that caters to the rural poor, who were protesting the government’s education reform which would make school unaffordable for the poor. Their killing was provoked by the police in connivance with drug cartels.

They train armies and police in their 'client' states to assure oppression whenever there is a chance that people may claim their civil rights. This is what empire does.

Galeano Died — Revolution Goes On!

In Latin America, Eduardo Galeano was revered as a giant of letters, as a symbol of rebellion, of revolution, and of the fight for justice.

“Utopia is on the horizon,” Galeano once wrote. “I move two steps closer; it moves two steps further away. I walk another ten steps and the horizon runs ten steps further away. As much as I may walk, I’ll never reach it. So what’s the point of utopia? The point is this: to keep walking.”

Galeano told me that he was in love with two ladies, both splendid, both fragile, both tremendously desirable. One was called Utopia, the other, Reality.

Both are dangerous to the masters of the world, to Empire, because one gathers dreams, including dreams for a better world, while the other one bravely tells the truth.

Al-Qaeda's Air Force: United States And Saudi Arabia

By Brandon Turbeville

It was evident early on that the US bombing of alleged ISIS targets inside Syria was, in reality, an attempt to support the terrorist organization backed by NATO and the US as opposed to an attempt to defeat it. While such a suggestion has been repeatedly labeled as a “conspiracy theory” by the mainstream media and other gatekeepers in the “independent” media, the fruits of America’s labor in terms of the bombing campaign cannot be ignored. Likewise, neither can the world ignore the results of Saudi Arabia’s bombing of Yemen.

The truth is that the United States, NATO, and the GCC/Arab League are bombing in couched support of ISIS, increasing its gains and hold on power with every sortie fired. With this fact recognized, the NATO/GCC network of national governments can now officially be labeled as the Air Force of Al-Qaeda...

Houthi Weapon Bonanza - a Gift From USA

"Information Clearing House" - "MEE" - As the Saudi bombing campaign against Houthi targets in Yemen continues, notwithstanding a temporary pause, the corporate media narrative about the conflict in Yemen is organised decisively around the idea that it is a proxy war between Iran on one side and the Saudis and United States on the other.

USA Today responded like Pavlov’s dog this week to a leak by Pentagon officials that it was sending the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt to the waters off Yemen, supposedly to intercept Iranian vessels carrying weapons to the Houthis. It turned out that the warship was being sent primarily to symbolise US support for the Saudis, and the Pentagon made no mention of Iranian arms when it announced the move. But the story of the US navy intercepting Iranian arms was irresistible, because it fit so neatly into the larger theme of Iran arming and training the Houthis as its proxy military force in Yemen.

Apr 24 09:25

Why Is Yemen Our War?

The Saudis have hit airfields, armor and arms depots, and caused a humanitarian catastrophe. Nearly 1,000 dead, 3,500 wounded and tens of thousands homeless. The poorest nation in the Arab world is near collapse. Dependent upon imported food, Yemen faces malnutrition and starvation.

And the United States has been an accomplice in the Saudi bombing of Yemen.

Why? Why is Yemen’s civil war America’s war?

What did the Houthis ever do to us?

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is really quite simple, Pat. back in 2012, the US "intervened" in Yemen to kick out the legitimate government of Yemen that wanted to rule Yemen for the benefit of Yemen and installed a US puppet that ruled Yemen for the benefit of American corporations. This is something the US has attempted against the governments of more than fifty other nations since the end of WW2, succeeding about half the time. The successes include Cuba in 1952, Iran in 1953, Chile in 1973, and Egypt in 2013. Obama bragged about the Yemen success in 2012! But the old model is starting to fall apart. The US plan of covert overthrow only works when the people of a nation follow the new Junta as they followed the previous leaders. But that has started to break down. The people of Cuba kicked out their US puppet in 1959. Iran kicked out their US puppet, the Shah, in 1979. The people of Eastern Ukraine responded to the US backed coup in Kiev by simply breaking off and trying to go their own way.

so now in Yemen, their people are tired of the US puppet Hadi and want their own President Saleh back. The American Empire, alarmed at how the pesky conquered provinces are refusing to stay conquered, is going to make an example of Yemen, one of the poorest nations in the Middle East, that you accept and love your US puppet rules or bad things will happen to you such as starvation blockades and the bombing of civilians and civilian infrastructure.

That clear it up for you?

He lamented that planes and ships are not allowed into Yemen's ports and airports, and said, "Unfortunately, the Saudi government has prevented the dispatch of aid to Yemen."

Iran has already sent five consignments of humanitarian aid to Yemen, including a total of 69 tons of relief, medical, treatment, and consumer items.

Saudi Arabia’s Disastrous War in Yemen

In what has been three decades of ill-advised wars in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen may be the most ill-advised of them all. “Operation Decisive Storm,” the ironic name for Saudi Arabia’s aerial campaign in Yemen, has led to nothing decisive in Yemen beyond ensuring that the country remains a failed state and fertile ground for organizations like al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). Long before the commencement of “Operation Decisive Storm,” Yemen, the poorest country in the Middle East, was grappling with a host of problems ranging from severe water shortages, food insecurity, and a moribund economy, to a long running multi-front insurgency. Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen has exacerbated all of these problems and could well be the coup de grace for a unified and relatively stable Yemen.

Time to Wake up to some Realities on the Iran Deal

Too many cooks spoil the broth, and that appears to be precisely what the Senate had in mind.

Saudi Arabia Orders Its National Guard To Enter Yemen War

Over the better part of the past month, the only entities actively involved in the proxy war in Yemen against the local Houthi rebel force have been air force units, mostly under Saudi command as part of Operation "Decisive Storm." Which probably explains why there has been little if any progress to note in pushing back said rebellion which, armed heavily thanks to the US government, has successfully managed to push the current president into an indefinite exile.

That changed hours ago, when Saudi Arabia's King Salman ordered the Saudi Arabian National Guard, widely regarded as the kingdom's best equipped military ground force, to take part in Riyadh's campaign against Iran-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen.

As Reuters notes, "military operations in the campaign have so far been carried out by the Royal Saudi Air Force and the Royal Saudi Land Forces, which answer to the Defense Ministry. The national guard is a separate military structure run by its own ministry."

Pakistan faces dilemma as Saudi bills come due

When the Saudi appeal first came, it seemed that the dispatch of Pakistani soldiers to the Gulf was imminent: "Any threat to the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia will be met with a firm response," read a communique from Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

But soon thereafter, Pakistan's foreign ministry issued a denial that any of the country's military was engaged in Yemen, though the Pakistani flag continued to fly alongside that of Arab nations at the Saudi-based headquarters of Yemen operations.

This "now-you-see-it, now-you-don't" game ended only when Pakistan's Parliament voted against the dispatch of troops. Still, the episode shed light on the murky world of Pakistani-Saudi relations, a link which looks destined to shape the security map of the Middle East for years to come.

Israeli Fighter Jets Join Saudi Arabia in War on Yemen

Israel’s fighter jets have taken part in the Thursday Saudi-led airstrikes on Yemen, sources in Sanaa disclosed on Friday.

“This is for the first time that the Zionists are conducting a joint operation in coalition with Arabs,” Secretary General of Yemen’s Al-Haq Political Party Hassan Zayd wrote on his facebook page.

He noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had issued direct orders for the Israeli air force to send fighter jets to the Saudi-led air raid on Yemen.

Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against Yemen and killed, at least, 25 civilians early Thursday, one day after the US-backed Yemeni president fled the country.

46 Civilians Killed as Saudi Warplanes Attack Yemen Capital

At least 46 people are dead tonight and several hundred others wounded after Saudi warplanes launched attacks on the outskirts of a missile depot in the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa.

No military casualties were reported in the strikes, which set off a string of explosions around residential neighborhoods in Sanaa. Many of the casualties were from explosions blowing out windows in people’s homes.

Saudi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Ahmed Asseri went on to say that today’s strikes were part of a “new phase” of war against the Houthis, one which he insisted would include “protection of civilians.” So far, the phase seems not to be off to a great start.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have two words for Saudi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Ahmed Asseri, and those are: WAR CRIMES!!!

And, sir, would someone from the Saudi military please inform me about how one wins what is essentially a ground war from the air?!?

The short answer is, you can't!

The indiscriminate killing of civilians here appears to be quite deliberate, from the Saudi military perspective, and with heavy US military enabling.

The only ways here to restore peace and sanity to Yemen is a negotiated settlement, coupled with some VERY brave Sunni and Shiite clerics having a conversation about cooperating with each other, and becoming examples of what it means to treat the other with tolerance and compassion.

WHO IS SAUDI ARABIA REALLY TARGETING IN ITS PRICE WAR?

Saudi Arabia is not trying to crush U.S. shale plays. Its oil-price war is with the investment banks and the stupid money they directed to fund the plays. It is also with the zero-interest rate economic conditions that made this possible.

Market share is an important part of the motive but Saudi Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali al-Naimi recently emphasized that “The challenge is to restore the supply-demand balance and reach price stability.” Saudi Arabia’s need for market share and long-term demand is best met with a growing global economy and lower oil prices.

The quip was astounding because Iran is not bombing Yemen or engaged in “overt warfare” there, though it has given some support to one side. The culprit on the overt warfare front is Saudi Arabia.

Red Crescent: Tens of Yemeni Children Killed by Saudi Poison Gas

"We will display a video on the death of tens of children who died after inhaling poisonous gases," an official of Yemen's Red Crescent Society, Abdollah Maboud Al-Shokri, told FNA on Sunday.

He noted that the bomb explosions in the Saudi airstrikes not only destroy a large number of homes, but also create a thick cloud of poisonous and fatal gases.

Yemeni officials had already warned that the bombs that the Saudi regime has used in Sana'a were different from those used in other parts of Yemen.

Geopolitical Ramifications of US-Saudi Armed Interventionism in Yemen

The Houthi rebellion in Yemen that was already in existence more than five years ago had recently turned into a full-blown conflict that escalated into an international crisis in the first week of April of 2015 when Houthi rebels in Yemen deposed President Abed Rabou Mansur Hadi, throwing him out of the helm of Yemeni government. Hadi fled to Saudi Arabia while the Houthis effectively captured the capital Sana’a. Thereafter, Saudi Arabia, has initiated massive aerial bombings against the de facto Houthi government in Sana’a and in various strategic areas of Yemen that are now being occupied by the Houthi militia.

Debunking the "The Saudis did 9-11" nonsense!

Remember that Saudi Arabia was being framed for 9-11 right from the start. One of the accused hijackers, a Saudi Pilot named Saeed Al-Ghamdi, was still alive after 9-11 and sued the US Government for defaming him.

And finally, here is some common sense that totally undermines the attempt to frame Saudi Arabia for 9-11. If Saudi Arabia really wanted to hurt the United States, they don't need to fly airplanes into skyscrapers to do it. All they have to do is ask for their money back, all at once. The resulting damage to the US financial system would make 9-11 look like a minor inconvenience in comparison.

And it would be perfectly legal for Saudi Arabia to ask for their money back.

Western media did their best to hide Putin’s stratospheric popularity in their assigned propaganda task of demonizing Russia and Putin over the Ukrainian Western coup , replacing the Iran nuclear weapons threat hoax with the new Russian Bear threat one.

The biggest threat to our national security comes from treasonous cliques within our own ranks and their recent marriage over that last decade into the international corporate crime syndicates.

We are not really biased here at VT. It is just a simple observation to us… it is Putin and Lavrov all the way. No one can touch them and they own this piece of history, something that the spinmeisters cannot lay a glove on.

TIME Magazine Invaded by Kremlin Troll Army

Western media campaign to demonize Putin has failed to convince its target audience. The Western public are not buying the hysterical political agenda.
The iconic current affairs TIME magazine follows this week’s news that Russian President Vladimir Putin came top of the TIME 100 readers’ poll.

Western publics have now alternative media sources, ranging from foreign-based professional news services to a plethora of Western-based internet sites. The alternative scope is often critical of Western government policies and capable of ably exposing ulterior, hidden political agenda. In other words, the alternative news sources are often doing the proper job of journalism that is neglected by Western mainstream media who seem to be preoccupied with advancing the political objectives of their governments – no matter how unethical those objectives are.

UN Security Council Slammed for 'Endorsing Siege and Mass Starvation' of Yemenis

The United Nations Security Council on Tuesday passed a resolution, drafted largely by the gulf countries leading the war on Yemen, imposing an arms embargo on Houthis but not the Saudi Arabia-led military coalition pummeling and blockading the impoverished country.

Israel Lobby Conference: How big is the Lobby ? VIDEO

American politicians and media have fallen captive to the Zionist network. This is a lethal ailment that afflicts the US.

C-Span refused to cover the conference? Speak of “Silencing voices of TRUTH” or any exposure of even the most legitimate and reasonable discourse about Israel — Apparently, “The invisible dictatorship (to borrow a phrase) J.I.D., which controls America certainly saw to it!”

Whether it is not already too late to do much about it, we shall see.

Let us get it out on as many Websites as possible, Twitter and Facebook it, as well. We should not underestimate the power of the internet.

Saudi military almost entirely staffed by mercenaries

The Saudi military is almost entirely staffed by mercenaries. The Saudi jets bombing an air defenseless Yemen are piloted by Pakistanis. Its mid and low level officers are mainly from Jordan and most
ominously for its ability to actually launch a ground invasion, its rank and file soldiers are almost entirely from Yemen.

How the GOP Became the Israel Party

Bill Kristol and John McCain have replaced Robert Novak and Pat Buchanan in Republican foreign policy influence.

When the unexpectedly detailed P5+1 framework agreement with Iran was announced last Thursday, Illinois Republican Mark Kirk made a bizarre comment. “We all know” said the senator, that this is going to end with “a mushroom cloud somewhere near Tehran”—a result of Israel having to go to war to “clean up the mess” made by American and European negotiators. A few days earlier John McCain had expressed the wish that Israel “go rogue” and attack Iran in order to upend the Iran negotiations.

U.S. Widens Role in Saudi-led Campaign Against Houthi Rebels in Yemen

The U.S. is expanding its role in Saudi Arabia’s campaign in Yemen, vetting military targets and searching vessels for Yemen-bound Iranian arms amid growing concerns about the goals of the Saudi-led mission, according to U.S. and Arab officials.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It has already come out that the targets are not just the Houthis, but Yemen military still loyal to the former Yemen President Saleh, who was ousted by a US intervention in 2012 and replaced by US puppet Hadi, currently hiding in Saudi Arabia.

Poets’ Talk: “Why Is This World So Sad?” And, “The Armor of God”

GC: Why is this world so sad? Do you have a religious answer? A faith-based answer?

CO: Life is suffering, and the ancient story of John the Baptist and Herod belongs to modern history…. Our “Herod” (POTUS) stands militarily above all other nations, and only Russia seems to stop the U.S. from cutting off (bombing) any head(s) our Controllers desire.

They intimidate the Vatican, and instead of “putting on the armor of God,” (St. Paul), the Roman Catholic Church often acquiesces, and by the “sin of omission,” helps hasten the making of a Rich Man & Lazarus world, an inevitable War of Civilizations.

At any rate, how will that “Ole Time Religion” square with this basically unimaginable world towards which we are racing?

He confidently predicts a resounding victory for the Houthis, and major repercussions for the Saudi ruling dynasty and the entire region, which will be in the best interests of the peoples.

Saudi warns Iranian warships not to enter Yemeni waters

A Saudi official warned Iranian warships sent to the Strait of Bab El-Mandeb and the Gulf of Aden not to enter Yemeni waters.

"Iranian ships have the right to be present in international waters, but they won't be allowed to enter Yemeni territorial waters," spokesman of the Saudi-led anti-Houthi coalition forces, Brigadier General Ahmed Asiri told reporters in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Iran deployed two warships including a naval destroyer near Yemen on Wednesday saying the move comes to protect the Islamic Republic's interest in international waters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yemen war, beginning of ominous plot to divide Saudi Arabia: Iran diplomat

A senior Iranian diplomat has warned against the fallout of Saudi Arabia’s illegal military campaign against Yemen, saying it is a conspiracy that aims to disintegrate Saudi Arabia.

“The enemies of the [Middle East] region are unfortunately trying to disintegrate and weaken Saudi Arabia, and the aggression against Yemen and its consequences are the start point of this ominous plot,” Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday.

He called on the United States to stop pursuing dual policies in the Middle East and recommended Saudi Arabia to stop counting on Washington’s help in Yemen.

The Iranian diplomat warned that the continuation of Saudi aggression against Yemen would lead to “inevitable consequences," adding that Saudi Arabia is playing with regional security by attacking Yemen.

The Orwellian Way - War is Peace in Yemen

An autocracy with a deplorable human rights record (Saudi Arabia’s Sharia courts routinely behead criminals and flog victims of gang rape as well as recalcitrant bloggers) and its partners—which includes the US—are endeavoring to reinstall an ineffectual exiled government of questionable legitimacy and ensure security in Yemen by bombing and starving it into submission.

Naval Blockade Creating Food Shortages in Yemen

The poorest nation in the Middle East, Yemen doesn’t produce a lot of its own food. Over 90 percent of the food consumed in the country, including virtually all of its wheat and rice, is imported from abroad, generally by ships.

That’s a big problem as the Saudi war picks up pace, as Saudi and coalition warships patrol the waters around the nation, blockading ports controlled by the Houthis. Since the situation is so dangerous and quickly changing, most ships are just skipping Yemen outright.
