BEX ALERT - UN-OPCW investigators ‘confident’ Damascus is to blame for April sarin attack

The new UN-sponsored report by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), conducted by the Joint Investigation Mission (JIM), supported the initial findings which blamed Syria’s Air Force for deploying sarin in the Syrian town, according to media reports.

JIM said it “is confident that the Syrian Arab Republic is responsible for the release of sarin at Khan Shaykhun,” AP and AFP reported citing key findings and conclusions they have "seen." The report’s authors also allegedly asserted that the “sarin was delivered via an aerial bomb that was dropped by an airplane.”

Russia's Permanent Mission to the UN voiced concern that cherry-picked details of the findings, which are yet to be made public, were already circulating in the media.

SYRIA-IRAQ WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 26, 2017: US-BACKED FORCES WON OIL RACE ON EASTERN BANK OF EUPHRATES

On October 26, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued their successful operation on the eastern bank of the Euphrates and entered the oil fields of al-Tanak and Galban, according to pro-Kurdish sources. Earlier, the US-backed force reportedly established control over the oil fields of Azraq and Jarnof, Saban, Northern Omar, Maleh and Mqaat.

Thus, the SDF de-facto won the race for the oil and gas infrastructure located in the area with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Pro-opposition sources reported that ISIS just handed over the al-Tanak oil field to the SDF within the framework of the previously reached agreement. No more details were provided. Most likely these reports are linked to the alleged SDF-ISIS deal reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on October 22. According to this report, ISIS was set to surrender the entire area including Hajin village to the US-backed force.

Tillerson: Assad family reign coming to end, only issue is how to bring it about

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the “reign of the Assad family” in Syria is coming to an end, and the “only issue is how that can be brought about.”

Tillerson's comments were made following a meeting with UN envoy Staffan de Mistura in Geneva.

“The United States wants a whole and unified Syria with no role for Bashar al-Assad in the government,” Tillerson said, as quoted by Reuters. “The reign of the Assad family is coming to an end. The only issue is how that should that be brought about.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the US Government has dropped the pretext about being in Syria to fight ISIS and is back to "We gotta get Assad out."

Israel Now Threatening Military Escalation with Neighboring Syria

As 21WIRE reported earlier this week, Israel’s violation of Lebanese airspace (supposedly to bomb a Hezbollah convoy driving from Syria to Lebanon) prompted the Syrian Arab Army to launch a SA-5 (S-200) ground to air missile, towards the Israeli jets flying over Lebanon, which then prompted the Israeli Air Force to retaliate by flying over the occupied Golan Heights and target a Syria Army ground position.

The total number of Israeli attacks against Syria since 2011 could number as high as 20, however, as veteran Middle East correspondent Elijah J. Magnier points out, this exchange marked an important new shift in Israel’s rules of engagement against Syria and Hezbollah in Syrian and Lebanese territory.

Israel’s response has been rather bellicose to say the least, as the US-backed rogue state continues to thwart the “rules-based international community” through its systematic violation of international law under the elastic guise of ‘defending itself.’

SYRIA WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 25, 2017: US-BACKED FORCES SEIZE MORE OIL FIELDS IN DEIR EZZOR PROVINCE

Late on October 24, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) of attacking its units on the eastern ban of the Euphrates, near Deir Ezzor city.

The incident allegedly took place at Jubaylah.

According to the SDF Press Office, ISIS forces attacked the SDF at the Jafra train station at the same time, but lost 9 fighters and were forced to retreat.

The US-backed force allegedly “repelled” both the attacks and lost no ground in the area. No photos or videos confirming the clashes were provided.

Meanwhile, pro-government sources reported no clashes with the SDF.

Steve Bannon Launches His Big Foreign Policy Crusade

Just another neocon in Israels pocket!

Stephen K. Bannon joined other Republican grandees such as Sen. Tom Cotton at a packed event in Washington on Monday.

Bannon, who has sometimes been cited as “Trump’s dove,” has emerged as one of the harshest critics of Iran in Trumpworld, collaborating extensively with former UN ambassador John Bolton, as I’ve reported. Bolton thinks the current move on the JCPOA is essentially for show: the deal is unsalvageable. His plan, backed by extreme hardliners like Frank Gaffney, calls for discussing military options with Israel against Iran and backing Kurdish national aspirations, which is a nonstarter for Iran, Turkey and the Shia-dominated government in Iraq; Bolton was spotted entering the White House on Monday.

Are Our Mideast Wars Forever?

As their U.S. allies watched, the Kurdish peshmerga fighters were run out of Kirkuk and all the territory they had captured fighting ISIS alongside the Americans. The Iraqi army that ran them out was trained and armed by the United States.

The U.S. had warned the Kurds against holding the referendum on independence on Sept. 25, which carried with 92 percent. Iran and Turkey had warned against an independent Kurdistan that could be a magnet for Kurdish minorities in their own countries.

But the Iraqi Kurds went ahead. Now they have lost Kirkuk and its oil, and their dream of independence is all but dead.

More troubling for America is the new reality revealed by the rout of the peshmerga. Iraq, which George W. Bush and the neocons were going to fashion into a pro-Western democracy and American ally, appears to be as close to Iran as it is to the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The American people have grown infinitely more war-weary and more war-sceptical than at any other time I have observed them, since the Vietnam War era.

I seriously doubt that they will support more wars, when our existing ones in places like Iraq; Niger; Somalia; Afghanistan; Syria; and Yemen are going so generally horribly badly.

That Iran should become politically dominant in Baghdad, Beiruit, or Damascus, is one of the unintended consequences of a number of poorly thought out and ill conceived war scenarios, dating back to the Bush era, which did not account for for the potential hazards of getting involved militarily in the region the first place. And despite all the cheerleading from Israel's Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman regarding regime change in Tehran, such a move would most likely box the US government into another no-win situation, as is the current US/NATO occupation of Afghanistan.

The primary charactarization of US foreign policy over the last 16 years has to be that of magical thinking, which had absolutely zero basis in reality, but the horrific costs, in American blood and money, have been all too real.

In looking at the corporate US-presstitute demonization I am seeing of both Russia and Iran, it looks as though President Trump is ultimately looking to wage wars against both these countries; I just hope he understands that our military cannot fight both at the same time, although that is what will happen if he attacks Iran, because Russia's mllitary and civilian leadership have long pledged to defend it if it is attacked militarily.

I would like to politely point out that as a result of assisting Syria against its jihadis, Russia has earned the envy of the world in terms of its weaponry, and how well it has functioned in real-world combat conditions; the US has the Lockheed-Martin F-35 to offer, which is still incapable of working as advertised, no matter how many billions of dollars the DOD has thrown at it.

The Occupied, Unhinged Surveilled State of Amerika, at this moment the 21st century, has become a true rogue nation, and one that no nation in its collective right mind could possibly trust to keep its word; look at what President Trump has just done with the P5+1 agreement, as an example. The only way it seems to get its way, is through hubristic bellicosity, lies, and war, rather than hard-won, moral negotiations.

I would like to hope that the White House, Congress, State Department and Pentagon have the capability to think through their next moves in the in the Middle East through very thoroughly, and carefully; The next moves here, if not done with extreme care and caution, could well spark a Third World.

US Airstrike Kills 14 Civilians in Eastern Syria

US warplanes attacked the Qusur District of Syria’s city of Deir Ezzor, a government-held area in the nation’s far east, killing at least 14 civilians and wounding 32 others, according to reports.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 22 civilians had been killed in the attack. The US has not commented on the incident yet, but spokesman Col. Dillon promised to “check the reports.”

He said there would be “no reason” for the US to attack the city, as neither the US nor its Kurdish allies are operating in the area. That, of course, is not exactly a denial, and it’s unclear if we’ll hear about it again soon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not know what the Vegas odds are of the US and Russian engaging in direct military conflict in Syria; but my guess is, we are right on the keening edge of this happening, if the US keeps attacking this sovererign nation, against which the US government has not declared war, and which has not invited this country to assist them in getting rid of their jihadist rebels.

US MERCENARIES, IRAQI HIGHWAYS AND THE MYSTERY OF THE NEVER-ENDING ISIS HORDES

Maps of the conflict stretching over the last several years show clear corridors used to reinforce IS positions, leading primarily from Turkey’s southern border and to a lesser extent, from Jordan’s borders.

However, another possible vector may be desert highways in Iraq’s western Anbar province where US military contractors are allegedly to “provide security” as well as build gas stations and rest areas. These highways contributed to the current conflict and still serve as a hotbed for state–sponsored terrorism. Whether these US-controlled and -improved highways pose a significant threat for a reorganized effort by the US and its regional allies to divide and destroy Iraq and Syria seems all but inevitable.

The Islamic State’s de facto invasion of Syria and Iraq was a more massive and dramatic replay of an earlier surge of foreign militants into the region, following the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.

Press review: Iraq, Russia to deepen ties and Syrian opposition, Damascus eye direct talks

Moscow will host a meeting of the Russian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission on Tuesday. The parties are expected to discuss the energy projects in Kirkuk whose implementation came into question after the province was put under the control of the central government in Baghdad, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes. For one, Russia’s Rosneft oil company had reached an agreement with Erbil on several projects, including the construction of a gas pipeline in the autonomous region, according to media reports. The Russian energy giant, Gazprom, was likewise eying joint energy projects with Erbil. Now Russia will have to conduct negotiations on these deals with Baghdad rather than Erbil.

US-Kurds Agreement with ISIL Disclosed by Media Outlet

The US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reached an agreement with the ISIL based on which the latter will hand over regions in Eastern Deir Ezzur to the former, a Syrian media outlet disclosed on Tuesday. The Arabic-language al-Watan daily quoted well-informed sources that the SDF and the US have endorsed an agreement which will allow the SDF to take control of ISIL-held region in Eastern Deir Ezzur after ISIL's withdrawal. The daily said that the US coalition's heliborne operations had been spotted in energy fields when ISIL was in control of Eastern Deir Ezzur, adding that the coalition was looking for its share from the region's crude plundered by the ISIL.

Shoigu: 3114 training camps, explosives manufacturing workshops for terrorists destroyed

Russian Defense Minister Gen. Addressing the meeting of defense ministers of the ASEAN member states, Shoigu added that the Russian Aerospace, since its participation in the war against terrorism two years ago, destroyed 948 training camps, 666 factories and workshops for manufacturing explosives which belong to the terrorist organizations in Syria. The Russian Senior officer stressed that security and stability were restored to 998 cities and villages due to the military operations carried out by the Syrian Arab Army in cooperation with the allies and backed by the Air Force after eliminating the terrorists’ gatherings at those areas.

Syrian troops seize militant arms depot containing latest weapons made in NATO countries

Weapons manufactured in NATO member states make up the bulk of the terrorists’ arsenal. In particular, a UK-made 155 mm howitzer, manufactured in 2011, was discovered in the arms depot in Mayadin. "We have seized the latest weapons made in the US, Belgium and the UK, that are also used by NATO states," General al-Hassan stressed. The city of Mayadin is located 40 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital of Deir ez-Zor, on a key highway connecting Aleppo and the Abu Kamal city on Iraq’s border. Until recently, Mayadin was the most important terrorist stronghold in eastern Syria, considered to be "the IS capital."

"Some 998 towns and settlements have been liberated, and the liberated territory reaches 503,223 square kilometers. Many militants have been killed. The process of restoring peaceful life in the country has started," Shoigu said. About 2,500 settlements across Syria have signed reconciliation deals thanks to the focused efforts of the Russian center for reconciliation of warring parties. Since 2015, 1.126 mln people have returned home, including 660,000 this year.

CNN Caught Creating Fake News Again: Adding Words To Syrian Witness’ Statement To Fit Western Narrative

The CNN reporter predictably attributes the horrors facing the civilians as a result of the eastern part of Aleppo “being under siege by the Syrian military,” not the fact that terrorists had seized east Aleppo and were fighting to the death to keep it. Still he quotes an older man who paints a less than typical CNN-style portrayal of the “rebels.” The man says, “I wanted to leave with my kids fifteen days ago but the rebels shot at me and said ‘Hey you bastard! Do you want to join the regime?’”

The only thing surprising about the man’s statement was that it was actually aired on CNN.

However, the most interesting aspect of the report is what was attributed to the young boy whom CNN quotes as saying, “We were afraid that we would starve to death. We were also scared because heavy bombs were falling.”

US NOW ADMITS SYRIAN "REBELS" HAVE USED CHEMICAL WEAPONS

rom the first moment chemical weapons were used on the Syrian battlefield, the American public was led to believe that only one side could possibly be responsible. The constant refrain in the echo chamber of US government officials and the mainstream media was that only the Assad government possessed chemical stockpiles and the technological capability of deploying such heinous weapons, therefore blame for each and every chemical attack from Ghouta to Khan Sheikhoun was laid at the feet of Assad and the Syrian military.

And yet last Wednesday, for the first time, the US State Department casually dropped an important admission into its official Syria travel warning for American citizens: that the core rebel group currently operating in northwest Syria not only possesses but has used chemical weapons - to the point that the State Department considers it a major enough threat to publicly warn citizens about.

On Returning From Syria: More Convinced Than Ever Western Media Narrative Is Bullshit

In early October, 2017, I had the pleasure of visiting Syria on a mission to get a sense of the toll of the war, the mindset of the people, and the general situation on the ground. The goal was to see the country in person, get a sense of what life is like in Syria today, talk to the Syrian people and hear their side of things; i.e. their opinions on the government and the “rebels/terrorists,” their living conditions, Syria before the war versus Syria now, and whatever else they wanted to share. We wanted to see the areas formerly under control of the terrorists and talk to the residents there. We also wanted to visit the areas firmly under government control and speak to the residents living in these areas as well.

Israel attacks on Golan sign of collusion with terrorists, Syria tells UN

Syria has criticized the UN Security Council for its inaction towards Israel’s fresh acts of aggression against its territory in the Golan Heights, denouncing the attacks as an example of Tel Aviv’s collaboration with terrorist groups.

In two letters sent to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the president of the UN Security Council on Saturday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s recent attacks as Tel Aviv’s “desperate attempt” to support terrorist groups in the area.

The letters warned about the serious repercussions of Israel’s repeated acts of aggression which they said constituted a flagrant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and the rule of international law, and expressed shock over the Security Council’s failure to condemn such Israeli attacks.

US-Backed Syrian Kurds Transfer Key Gas Field To Russians After Secret Talks

The gas field, which had the largest capacity of any in Syria prior to the conflict, is capable of producing 450 million cubic feet (13 million cubic meters) of natural gas per day. It is named for the American company which first discovered gas reserves and built a processing plant at the location, however, ConocoPhillips turned the facility over to the state-run Syrian Gas Company in 2005 and has no current association with it.

Beirut-based al-Masdar News broke the story based on Syrian military sources:

Syrian forces recover Israeli, NATO-made arms from Daesh hideouts

Syrian military forces have discovered a large cache of Israeli-made weapons in the strategic city of Mayadin in Dayr al-Zawr province, days after retaking the eastern city from Daesh terrorists.

The weapons included several types of heavy, medium and light firearms that beside Israel, came from some European countries as well as members of the NATO military alliance, Syria's state news agency SANA reported Thursday, citing a field commander.

The commander said they had also found mortars, artillery equipment, large quantities of anti-armor munitions and a NATO- made 155mm cannon with a range of up to 40km (about 25 miles).

This was not the first time that the Syrian government forces made such discoveries from terrorist hideouts across the country.

CHEMICAL WEAPONS USE IN SYRIA AND DECLINE OF INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

When it comes to the two verifiable uses of sarin or sarin-like substances in Syria, namely the 2013 Ghouta attack and the 2017 Khan Sheykhoun attack, nearly all the available evidence points to them being used by the rebels. An MIT study of the Ghouta attack that examined the ballistics of the rockets used to deliver chemical agents concluded that they came from areas at the time held by the rebels. When it comes to Khan Sheykhoun, even the photos and videos made available by the rebels put into doubt the claim the munitions were delivered by Syrian aircraft, as there is no evidence of air-delivered munitions and moreover the symptoms displayed by the victims and the behavior of the first responders suggests exposure to a toxic industrial chemical rather than a highly lethal agent like Sarin.

More than 1,800 civilians killed overall in defeat of ISIS at Raqqa, say monitors

US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces have announced the capture of Raqqa from so called Islamic State (ISIS) fighters — and while Coalition officials say small pockets of resistance remain, it is now possible to assess the significant civilian toll of the four month battle.

Some 200,000 civilians by some estimates were in the city when operations to dislodge ISIS began on June 6th. Though the SDF and Coalition appeared at times to give conflicting instructions to civilians, most were able to flee – including several thousand during the last week of fighting, following an agreement that also saw the surrender and evacuation of around 275 ISIS fighters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

TRUMP HAS KILLED MORE CIVILIANS WITH ILLEGAL DRONE STRIKES IN 9 MONTHS THAN OBAMA DID IN 8 YEARS

While the mainstream media focuses on anything but the current state of U.S. intervention in the Middle East, the Trump Administration is breaking records by accumulating a horrific number of civilian deaths.

Former President Obama earned the nickname of “Drone King” when he dramatically escalated the use of drone strikes, while also downplaying the number of innocent civilians who became “collateral damage.” In the two years that his administration devoted to publicly spending millions of taxpayer dollars to fight the Islamic State group, the estimated civilian death toll ranged from 2,300 to 3,400, according to Airwars, an organization tracking deaths in the war against ISIS.

President Trump has been in office for just 9 months, and he has already surpassed Obama’s murderous record with estimated numbers as high as 4,500 civilian deaths.

Webmaster's Commentary:

According to reports in Sham FM radio, which is affiliated with the Syrian regime, and the Lebanese news site Elnashra, no one was hurt in the IDF attack.

The rocket, which is believed to be "spillover" from the fighting raging across the border, landed in an open area in the northern Golan Heights. No one was hurt and no damage was reported.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 19, 2017: U.S. BLAMES ASSAD FOR ‘HINDERING’ ITS ANTI-ISIS EFFORTS

On October 18, the Republican Guard’s Gen Issam Zahreddine was killed in an IED explosion during the operation against ISIS in Saqr Island northeast of Deir Ezzor city. Zahreddine was one of the most prominent Syrian generals and a hero of the battle for Deir Ezzor. He had been leading government troops defending the city from ISIS terrorists over the past years. Under his command, local government troops kept control over the military airbase and a part of the urban area until the unblocking force reached the city and broke the ISIS siege in September 2017.

On the same day, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee accused the Syrian-Iranian-Russian alliance of hindering efforts of the US-led coalition against ISIS during the battle for Raqqa city.

U.S. Pushes For Quick UN Vote On Syrian Gas-Attack Inspections, Defying Russia

U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said on October 18 that she was circulating a resolution that would extend by another year the work of the Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM), and she called for a vote on the extension before a scheduled October 26 report by the group on who is responsible for an April 4 sarin-gas attack on Khan Sheikhun that killed nearly 90 people.

Haley said that "there's overwhelming support" on the council for her proposed extension of the JIM's inspection mandate, which expires in mid-November, but she expects Russia to object to any rushed vote.

Russian Ambassador Mikhail Ulyanov, who heads the country's delegation to the UN General Assembly's disarmament committee, said last week that Russia wanted to wait to see the report on the Khan Sheikhun attack before deciding whether to extend the inspectors' mandate.

How Netanyahu Pulls Trump’s Strings

Over the summer, Trump listened to advice about a possible major overhaul of U.S. foreign policy that would have checked Israeli/Saudi regional ambitions, opened diplomatic doors to Iran, and addressed the Korean crisis by brokering negotiations between the North and the South over some form of loose confederation.

There was even the possibility of a Nixon-goes-to-China moment with tough-guy Trump meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the two countries restoring diplomatic ties, a process that could have given U.S. companies a better chance to compete in the Iranian market.

Those proposed moves had the advantage of reducing international tensions, saving the U.S. government money on future military adventures, and freeing U.S. corporations from the tangle of economic sanctions – exactly the “America First” strategy that Trump had promised his working-class base.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The level of absolute betrayal that I, and much of his base, felt at President Trump's martial rantings at the UN, threatening both North Korea and Iran with war and extinction, is so intense as to be absolutely unconveyable.

So I am hoping that some folks in the White House, Pentagon, State Department and Congress are asking themselves, quite seriously: is the US government actually prepared to go to war with both Iran and Russia, egged on by the Israeli cheerleaded in chief Netanyahu, when it is a dead moral certainty that the costs will be borne only in American blood, and with American money?!?

I would hope that a measured, collective answer to that question is, HELL, NO!!

But then again, I do not know what kind of Svengali hold Netanyahu has over President Trump, in terms of intel or background to which the American public is not privy.

Unfortunately, just because an action on the part of the US government could be the most ham-fistely, pig-headedly stupid thing it could do, is no guarantee that it will not do it.

And do take note; there have been absolutely no missile tests by North Korea over this last week of intense military exercises between South Korea and the US military off the Korean peninsula. Even though North Korea's Ambassador to the UN made the following statement on 16 October "Nuclear War May Break Out at Any Moment, these exercises are due to end tomorrow, and yet North Korea has not carried out its threats.

38north.org, an organisation under the auspices of John Hopins University, which studies North Korean actions by analyzing satellite imagery, has made no mentions of any movements of missiles to their testing site as of yesterday, 18 October, and this is my "canary in the coal mine" resource when it comes to North Korean military activity.

I doubt that this will ever happen in my lifetime, but what this country desperately needs right now, is a Department of Peace, to counter the warmongers in our government, and create options for resolving this country's geopolitical issues through intelligent, moral, hard-won negotiations, rather than through war.

Benjamin Netanyahu: 'Israel will not allow' Iranian bases in Syria

Israel says it "will not allow" Iran to build up a long-term military position on its borders, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu delivered the warning to Russia, which has been Iran's partner in backing Syrian President Bashar Assad, during a meeting in Tel Aviv on Tuesday. The talks occurred as coalition forces are nearly finished liberating the Islamic State's capital of Raqqa as key world powers try to secure long-term strategic gains out of the Syrian civil war.

"Iran is attempting to establish itself militarily in Syria," Netanyahu tweeted Tuesday after a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. "I told [Shoigu]: Iran needs to understand that Israel will not allow this."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel will do anything it can to start an all out war against Syria and Iran, with the US government sleepwalking into such a war before it realizes what has happened, and that is precisely what Netanyahu wants to engineer, with these moves.

Such a war could well see the US military fighting the Russian military in Syria; and if Israel and the US go into Iran, you will most probably see Russia fighting against US forces here as well.

I have felt that we are on the keening edge of either a total financial breakdown, or world war for quite some time; I don't know which will be first, but the current geopolitical and financial situations cannot stand as they are for much longer.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 18, 2017: GOVERNMENT FORCES CROSS EUPHRATES, PUSH TOWARD OMAR OIL FIELDS

The Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by the US-led coalition’s airpower, artillery and special operations forces, established a full control over the city of Raqqah following a series of successful advances in al-Naim and al-Dallah roundabouts, the national hospital, the municipal stadium as well as other points in the city center.

According to pro-SDF sources, up to 40 ISIS members were killed and 37 terrorists surrendered to the SDF in the final day of the operation.
Following the final push in Raqqah, a US Department of State spokesperson announced that the US “will assist and take, essentially, the lead in bringing back the water, electricity and all of that.”

“The United States and our allies have prepared for next steps and will continue to work with partners to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need and support the stabilization efforts in Raqqa and other liberated areas,” Heather Nauert told journalists.

ISRAEL IS HIDING THAT ITS STATE-OF-ART F-35 WARPLANE WAS HIT BY SYRIAN S-200 MISSILE – REPORTS

According to the available information, the Syrian Defense Forces used a S-200 missile against the Israeli warplane. This Soviet-made missile is the most advanced long range anti-aircraft system opearated by the Syrian military. Even in this case, it’s old-fashioned in terms of the modern warfare.

Despite this, the Syrian Defense Ministry said in its statement that government forces responded to the violation of the airspace and “directly hit one of the jets, forcing [Israeli aircraft] to retreat.” This statement contradicts to the Israeli claim that “no hit” was confirmed.

Few hours after the missile incident with Syria, the Israeli media reported that the Israeli Air Force’s F-35 stealth multirole fighter went unserviceable as a result of an alleged bird collision during a training flight.

ISRAELI FIGHTER JETS LAUNCH AIR STRIKE ON SYRIAN AIR DEFENSE BATTERY NEAR DAMASCUS

After years of undermining the regime of Syrian leader Bashar al Assad, an effort that has seen Israel countenance ISIS training camps near its borders and launch recurring missile strikes on Syrian territory and its army bases while threatening to bomb Assad's palace, the simmering conflict between the two nations broke out into the open once again overnight.

The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed that Israeli Air Force fighters conducted a missile strike against a Syrian base after a missile was fired at Israeli jets on a routine aerial reconnaissance mission in Lebanese airspace, Russia's news agency Sputnik reports. No people were in injured, and the Israeli jets returned safely, but not before attacking an anti-aircraft battery east of the Syrian capital of Damascus. As usual, The IDF blamed the Syrian government for the incident, however, presenting no proof to support the claim. Damascus has yet to comment on the situation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The IDF most probably cannot present "proof" because there is none.

And remember that the attack happened over Lebanese air space; not Syrian air space.

I hope to heck Russian President Putin is working the phones like crazy, to inform his counterpart, Prime Minister Netanyahu, that events like this will no longer be tolerated by the Syrian or Russian airspace.

Turkey shifts policy on Syria

Turkey’s latest intervention in the Syria conflict appears to reflect a 180-degree shift in its policy of backing Al Qaeda-linked takfiris and a range of largely fundamentalist insurgents, as well as the Saudi-sponsored Syrian opposition with the aim of bringing down President Bashar Assad.

Last weekend, Turkish tanks, armoured vehicles and troops gathered in the western sector of the border between Turkey and Syria and exchanged fire with Al Qaeda’s Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham, a coalition headed by Jabhat Fatah Al Sham (formerly Jabhat Al Nusra).

Ankara is deploying Syrian insurgents belonging to the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA), allegedly, to defeat Jabhat and its allies who refused to sign onto the plan, agreed by Russia, Iran and Turkey, to impose a ceasefire or establish a “de-escalation zone” in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, dominated by Jabhat.

According to the spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Major Konashenkov, in the Majadina region, a total of 70 IDs were eliminated, which were later identified as citizens of Algeria.

The attack was carried out after the reconnaissance drones discovered a large militant stronghold on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River near the town of Majadin. Terrorists had an artillery and tank warehouse, as well as a distribution network of underground tunnels.

SYRIA WAR REPORT – OCTOBER 4, 2017: ISRAEL COMPLAINS ASSAD IS WINNING IN SYRIA

Syrian government forces have liberated the villages of Aksh, Jaberiyah, Wadhihi and Nashimi and divided the ISIS-held pocket in eastern Salamiyah into two separate parts. Now, the army and its allies are able to defeat the remaining ISIS units one by one.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq released a video showing “two Russians” that ISIS had allegedly captured in late September during clashes near the village of al-Shulah located on the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway.

According to the ISIS video, their names are Roman Zabolotniy (born – 1979) and Grigory Surkanov (born – 1978). However, they do not look like Russian soldiers and are much older than the common service members of the Russian military involved in the operation in Syria.
They could be private military contractors or members of some pro-government faction. Most likely, they are civil employees for the Assad government. Therefore, they are not combatants.

The SAA’s stunning triumph in Deir Ezzor has knocked Washington for a loop triggering all manner of erratic behavior including rocket and mortar attacks on SAA troop positions, a US-coordinated stealth attack in Idlib province, and numerous other provocations meant to divert attention from the main strategic objective, the lucrative Euphrates Valley oil fields.

TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE PALESTINIAN WAY

I wish that the US and the Western governments take care of their people in need. Instead of legislating to help Puerto Rico, the Israeli occupied US Congress is trying to be an even more obedient "house slave" for the Zionist masters by imposing more penalties on Hizballah (Lebanon) and Iran and pushing for yet another devastating war (just like they did in Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Libya). Bernard Levy, the Jewish Zionist instigator of the mayhem in Libya was in Northern Iraq building Zionist relationships with the Kurdish region and instigating for dividing Iraq like the Zionists did in Sudan. Other Zionists pour illegally acquired money in illegal Jewish settlements and the largest terrorist organization in the world - the Israeli army. Dividing the world and creating hatred and wars has been a key pillar of global Zionist machinery for decades*. It is the old colonial strategy of divide and conquer. As always many reject divisions while some fall into this trap.

Ex-spy scurries to cast doubt on CSIS-ISIS link

Ray Boisvert, a former assistant director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), has been busy trying to deflect blame from his former employer in the developing scandal involving an alleged CSIS asset who helped three British schoolgirls and others join ISIS.

Boisvert’s impetus is to shield CSIS and the Canadian state when their hand is exposed in duplicitous activity at home and abroad. He has frequently appeared as a pundit on mainstream media programs, and unsurprisingly was trotted out by the usual suspects to comment on revelations that a Syrian national who spied for CSIS was acting as a liaison for ISIS, helping Westerners travel through Turkey to join the militant group in Syria.

Russia Blames ‘Two-Faced’ US for Killing General in Syria—Moscow Will View it As Declaration of War

Lieutenant-General Valery Asapov, of the Russian armed forces, was killed after coming under shelling from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants near Deir ez-Zor, the Russian Defense Ministry has announced.

Immediately after his death, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the “two-faced policy” of the United States was to blame for the death of Russian Lieutenant-General Valery Asapov in Syria, the RIA news agency quoted him as saying.

Asapov, commander of the 5th Army in Russia’s Eastern Military District, one of the four strategic commands in the Russian Armed Forces, is the highest-ranking Russian officer to be killed in the Syrian campaign.

‘Not invaluable, but worthless’: Moscow laughs off UK claims of ‘major’ contribution to ISIS defeat

The Russian Ministry of Defense has issued a scathing rebuke to a claim by UK Defense Secretary Michael Fallon that Britain has made a “major contribution” to “crippling” Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

“As we come closer to the rout of Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL] by the Syrian Army, supported by the Russian Air Force, we are suddenly discovering that all these years, somewhere behind our backs it was Michael Fallon who did more than anyone to help defeat the terrorists,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.

Damascus urges UN to stop US-led coalition ‘war crimes’ & to expel alliance from Syria

The UN Security Council should take “urgent measures” to stop the atrocities and human rights violations committed in Syria by the US-led coalition, the Syrian foreign ministry has said, denouncing the coalition and its unwelcome presence as “illegal.”

Damascus has demanded a halt in the “systematic” US-led airstrikes which the government believes only aids the terrorists while at the same time claiming endless civilian lives and destroying homes and vital infrastructure in Syria, SANA reported.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 29, 2017: ISIS GOES ALL IN TO CUT OFF PALMYRA-DEIR EZZOR HIGHWAY

On September 28, ISIS assault groups, supported by battle tanks and technicals armed with heavy guns, attacked government forces in few points at the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway, the key government supply line to Deir Ezzor city.

ISIS attacks took place at Ash-Shula, Bir-Ghabaghib and Sukhnah as well as at other points along the highway. Using the surprise effect, ISIS entered Ash-Shula and Bir-Ghabaghib cutting off the highway.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed that in total 100 Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers were killed. Amaq added that ISIS members killed a Russian soldier and captured 2 others. These claims were rejected by the Russian Defense Ministry.

A plea to Israel: Don’t start the third Lebanon War

Yet Israel’s leaders don’t sound like they fear the consequences of such a war. They sound like they’re mainly afraid of letting Hezbollah keep its 150,000 missiles, and of letting the cease-fire agreement in Syria go through, which Netanyahu says would bring Iranian weaponry and Iranian-aligned militias near the Israeli Golan Heights. More than being afraid of the prospect of hundreds or thousands of Israeli deaths, they sound afraid of letting Iran establish a “band of control” from its territory through Iraq and Syria and into Lebanon for the transfer of weapons and fighters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, Israel steals the Golan from Syria, and now act indignant that Syria might want it back, especially with all the oil and gas underneath (which Israel is already selling).

ISRAELI MINISTER COMES CLEAN ABOUT TEL AVIV’S ‘ASSAD CAN SORT OF STAY’ NARRATIVE

The new phase of Israel aggression against Syria revolves around the targeting of a comparatively small group of Iranian military advisors who are in the country. In the Israeli lexicon, targeting ‘Iran’ is also a code word for targeting the Lebanese Arab party Hezbollah whose volunteers are cooperating with the government of the Syrian Arab Republic against jihadist terrorists. Thus far, Israel has struck Syrian and Hezbollah targets in Syria, but the Israeli regime has not killed any actual Iranians in Syria.

Now, a prominent minister in the Likud regime, Ze’ev Elkin, has given an interview with the ultra-liberal Russian radio station Echo of Moscow and has said the following,

“I do not think we should interfere in this issue. Usually, our attempts to interfere in our neighbours”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel is struggling to adapt to the end of the Syrian conflict

As the Syrian conflict gradually winds down it is becoming easier to identify the winners and the losers. At a global level the conflict is seen widely as a big win for Russia, and by extension a loss for the United States.

However, despite their significant differences, Russia and the US have established an uneasy accommodation in Syria, as demonstrated by a succession of local ceasefire deals. The same logic applies to Turkey and Iran, two major regional powers which are setting aside their differences to focus on the bigger picture in post-conflict Syria.

However, there is one clear loser in the conflict which is unable to reach an accommodation with its regional foes: Israel. The Zionist state has failed to achieve its core objective, namely to weaken the Syrian state by what it deems to be a sufficient degree.

How to Bring Down the Elephant in the Room

First, a painful, but needed, clarification:

Basement crazies. Neocons. Zionists. Israel Lobbyists. Judaics. Jews. Somewhere along this list we bump into the proverbial “elephant in the room”. For some this bumping will happen earlier in the list, for others a little later down the list, but the list will be more or less the same for everybody. Proper etiquette, atleast in the West, would want to make us run away from this topic. I won’t. Why? Well, for one thing I am constantly accused of not discussing this elephant. Furthermore, I am afraid that the role this elephant is playing is particularly toxic right now. So let me try to deal with this beast, but first I have to begin with some caveats.

The US-led coalition, however, insists that there was no civilians present at the time of the attacks.

'ISRAELI FLAGS WON’T SAVE YOU': ERDOGAN THREATENS IRAQI KURDS WITH FAMINE OVER REFERENDUM

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned that Iraqi Kurds will “not be able to find food” if Ankara decides to halt the flow of trucks and oil into the region, adding that all military and economic sanctions are on the table.

“[They] will be left in the lurch when we start imposing our sanctions,” Erdogan said in a speech broadcast live on television on Tuesday, as quoted by Reuters.

“It will be over when we close the oil taps, all [their] revenues will vanish, and they will not be able to find food when our trucks stop going to northern Iraq.”

Erdogan also warned that “flying Israeli flags” would not save the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) from regional isolation.

“If the only support for the KRG’s referendum is given by Israel and if the [outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party] PKK starts celebrating [the results] even before the polls close then there can be neither innocence nor legitimacy,” Erdo?an said, as quoted by Hurriyet.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF the response to the referendum was positive (and we still don't know precisely how the vote went, because results have yet to be revealed) I am very concerned about massive further violence as a result in this part of Iraq.

The Kurds have been formidable US allies in terms of stomping on ISIS in Syria; but even if the US has stopped short of endorsing this referendum, where does this referendum put the US position vis a vis Turkey, Iraq, and a (soon) nearly created Kurdish state, rich with oil?!?

And don't the Kurdish people believe that such service to the US should have translated into their having their own country?!?

The US government has placed itself, Iraq, and Turkey, into a very sticky wicket, as our British cousins would say, by supporting the Kurds in fighting ISIS in Syria, but not supporting a potentially soon-coming independent Kurdistan, simultaneously potentially carving bits out of Iraq to create this new nation.

What were those in the bowels of the Occupied, Unhinged, Surveilled States of America thinking?!?!? The bottom line is here, they just weren't.

Apparently, not being able to think a scenario through to its logical conclusiion, has to be a prerequisite for working for the Federal government these days.

After the ISIS Caliphate, Rojava

While the Syrian Arab Army, the Russian aviation and Hezbollah are preparing to finish off Daesh, the Pentagon is planning a new war against Syria, this time with Kurdish troops. Just as the mission of the Caliphate was to create a Sunnistan straddling Iraq and Syria, so the mission of “Rojava” is to create a Kurdistan straddling the two states, as the Pentagon has been publicly stating for the last four years.

According to US grand strategy, as defined by Admiral Cebrowski in 2001, and published in 2004 by his assistant Thomas Barnett, all of the Greater Middle East must be destroyed except for Israël, Jordan and Lebanon.

Consequently, the imminent victory against Daesh will change nothing of the Pentagon’s intentions.

Death of Russian general in Syria is result of US hypocrisy – Moscow

The death of Russian Lieutenant-General Valery Asapov in Syria is the price Russia was forced to pay for hypocritical US policy, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

“The death of the Russian commander is the price paid with blood for the hypocrisy of American policy in Syria," Ryabkov said on Monday.

General Asapov was serving as one of Russia’s military advisers in Syria. On Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry said he was fatally wounded by an exploding shell in a sudden mortar attack by IS terrorists.

The deputy minister said Moscow wants Washington’s statements on fighting terrorism not to be at odds with its actions on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Russian and US militaries maintain “intensive” contacts at different levels, Ryabkov said.

On Sunday, the Russian Ministry of Defense published aerial images which they say show US Army special forces equipment located north of the Syrian town of Deir ez-Zor, where IS militants are deployed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am sensing that, in spite of all the intensive contacts between Russian and US military reps, those in the Bowels of Power in the Occupied, Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika may well find an "excuse" for engaging with the Russians directly in Syria, in order not to appear to be losing yet another military misadventure in the Middle East.

I hope to heck I am absolutely wrong on this; but looking at the messes the US has made of Afghanistan; Somalia; Iraq; and Libya, one can understand why the US government doesn't want the optics of the US attempt at "regime change" in Damascus to appear as another epic fail to the world.

Pentagon Greenlights $700 Million Program To Combat Commercial ISIS Drones

The Pentagon is throwing $700 million at a rapidly progressing program to combat the threat of commercial drone use by the Islamic State, The New York Times reports.

The program has commissioned U.S. defense contractors to begin attempting to find solutions to the drone threat, including using lasers to shoot them out of the sky. The technology is in its infancy and has yet to yield any significant results. ISIS has pioneered the use of relatively cheap commercial drones as airborne improvised explosive devices, for surveillance, and propaganda purposes.

The Pentagon program comes as it increases the number of U.S. troops in Syria to assist training for the Syrian Democratic Forces in the fight against ISIS. The Pentagon reportedly worries that its bases could be vulnerable to ISIS drone attacks, and it sees the broader trend in warfare.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia accuses the US of providing safe passage to Syrian Democratic Forces into Deir ez-Zor through ISIS positions in Syria

The United States Special Forces ensure the unimpeded movement of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) through the positions of the Islamic State, as stated by the Russian Defense Ministry on Facebook.

Aerial images, which were taken from September 8 to 12, 2017 over the positions of ISIS, recorded a large number of American armored Hummer vehicles which are used by the United States Special Forces," stated the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The Russian Ministry of Defense believes that "despite the fact that the United States troops are located in the areas adjacent to ISIS positions, they do not have any signs of combat readiness."
