‘UK bombed Syria to protect Iraq’: Cameron changes his story in UN letter

Britain’s ambassador to the United Nations has claimed that Britain’s killing of Islamic State militants in Syria was legal because the drone strikes that caused the fatalities were launched to defend Iraq.

The government’s justification for the killings contrasts sharply with Prime Minister David Cameron’s earlier rhetoric, which claimed the strikes against Islamic State (formerly ISIS/ISIL) were a justified means of defending Britain’s national security.

Syria: The (Russian Air) Cavalry Is Coming

In light of the catastrophic outcome of the "western" war on Libya the Russian government declared to oppose any further such "regime change" in the Middle East. But the U.S. continues to train, arm and finance insurgents against the Syrian Arab Republic and, under the disguise of fighting the Islamic State, prepares to take down the Syrian government. Eliminating the Syrian government would likely create a radical jihadist state in Damascus and lead to massacres and mass refugee movements.

But Russia means what it says and will now use its military capabilities to confront the U.S. plans:

Israel keeps making, not taking, more refugees

Long before Syrian refugees found their way to Europe, the war-torn country’s neighbours have been hosting a staggering number of displaced persons – with one notable exception.

Syria has five neighbours: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Israel (with the latter occupying the Golan Heights since 1967). According to recent figures, Turkey currently hosts 1.8 million Syrian refugees, Lebanon a further 1.17 million, Jordan around 630,000, and Iraq some 250,000.

Israel, however, with a GDP per capita almost double that of Turkey and five times as much as Jordan, has not accepted a single one.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lavrov: US knows ISIS positions, refuses to bomb

Russia has information that the US know the specific location points of the "Islamic State" (extremist organization banned in Russia), but did not give an order to strike on the positions "of the IS," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

In the program "Sunday times" on "Channel 1" Lavrov said that the US government "was not originally very careful in creating a coalition, or conspired towards goals that were not the declared ones."

According to the foreign minister, the coalition was created spontaneously, "within just a few days it was announced that it includes a number of countries and then begun strikes."

Lavrov said that the analysis of aviation operations in countries included in the coalition, "creates a strange impression," - as if in addition to fighting "the IS" "there is something else which is a concern of the coalition."

Webmaster's Commentary:

The goal is to get rid of Assad. ISIS is the US-manufactured excuse.

Western Media Hype ‘Russian Aggression’ in Syria

From Washington to the western media, everyone has been talking about reports of potential Russian ‘intervention’ in Syria. On the one hand, the proliferation of this meme is a case study in the western propaganda system, as one report is then repeated ad nauseam from thousands of sources, then built upon by subsequent reports, thereby manufacturing the irrefutable truth from the perspective of media pundits and western mouthpieces. On the other hand, the new reports also raise some interesting questions about the motives of both the US and Russia, as well as the other interested parties to the conflict in Syria.

In examining this new chapter of the ongoing war in Syria, two critical and interrelated points seem to rise above all others in importance: Why is the western media hyping this narrative of Russian intervention? And why is direct Russian involvement, limited though it may be, seen as such a threat by the US?

US Drones Attack Syria’s Military

snip: Obama’s stepped up bombing complicit with Britain, France, Canada, Australia and Israel heads thing closer to full-scale naked aggression - to destroy Syrian sovereignty, eliminate an Israeli rival, and isolate Iran ahead of perhaps inventing a pretext to attack the Islamic Republic.

War plans were made years ago, updated as needed. The Iran nuclear deal did nothing to change longstanding US hostility toward Tehran.

Regime change remains official US policy - wanting Iranian sovereign independence destroyed like what’s ongoing in Syria. Maybe Washington has an Islamic State invasion in mind, perhaps aided by US air power.

America targets all independent government worldwide for regime change - wanting subservient US-controlled vassal states replacing them, a nightmarish scenario for endless conflicts, mass slaughter and destruction and possible nuclear war threatening everyone, everywhere if launched.

Peter Dale Scott Explains the Secret Cheney Operation on 9/11

A Podcast on the Little-Known “Continuity of Government” Effort Underlying National Emergencies

9/11 was a seminal day in US history, but, as noted author and historian Peter Dale Scott tells WhoWhatWhy, the true significance of what happened goes far beyond what meets the eye. In this podcast, Scott focuses in particular on the implementation of a secret “Continuity of Government” plan that had been decades in the making. Consequently, he argues, there has been “a permanent change to the United States” that permeates the lives of all Americans. The result, according to Scott, has been the suspension of Constitutional rights and the transformation of America in ways that we are still living with today.

Social Engineering 101: How to Make a Refugee Crisis

Starting in 2007, the US was already in the process of engineering the overthrow and destruction of all prevailing political orders across the Middle East and North African (MENA) region.

Why did they eagerly take in nearly 2 million refugees and now that they are intentionally expelling them from Turkey, has NATO’s war plans changed again?

It would be in Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh’s 2007 New Yorker article, “The Redirection: Is the Administration’s new policy benefiting our enemies in the war on terrorism?” that it was explicitly stated (emphasis added):

Obama warns Russia against helping arm Syrian government

President Barack Obama warned Russia on Friday against doubling down on its support for Syrian President Bashar Assad, casting a recent buildup of Russian military equipment and personnel in Syria as an effort to prop up the embattled leader.

"The strategy they're pursuing right now of doubling down on Assad is a mistake," Obama said during a town hall with US military personnel.

Obama said the number of 10,000 terrorists earlier this week was a “floor” of what he expected in the future. "We even dipped into the terrorist population of Somalia , plenty more turds we can take into our country so it can be a third world shithole eventually, God willing, of course."

Excluding Syrian army from fighting ISIS is absurd – Lavrov

The Syrian army could be a crucial force in fight against Islamic State, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, reiterating that Russia will support the Syrian government in the fight against the extremist group.

“To exclude Syrian army from fighting Islamic State [formerly ISIS/ISIL] is absurd… Syrian armed forces will be the most effective military force on the ground,” Lavrov said in an interview to Russia’s Channel One TV.

Lavrov added that when there was a question of destroying chemical weapons a year ago, Assad was considered a “legitimate” president of Syria and his actions were welcomed in UN Security Council resolutions.

“A year passed and he [Assad] stopped being legitimate, because the threat is now not chemical weapons or substance but a terror menace,” Lavrov said, describing that as an “ideologized” approach.

Politics, Not Weapons Needed to Defeat ISIL & Solve Syrian Crisis - Corbyn

A political solution involving the West, Russia, Iran and other Middle Eastern powers is needed to defeat ISIL and overcome the crisis in Syria, as an expansion of air strikes will only result in more civilian casualties, British MP Jeremy Corbyn has said.

Corbyn, who is expected to be unveiled as the new leader of Britain's Labour party, called for an international political conference to discuss the issues surrounding Syria and help bring about a resolution to the crisis.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is one of the most sensible things I have heard coming out of any politician's mouth on these issues in a long time.

Unfortunately, regarding the United States Government, just because a policy or action is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government can do, is absolutely no guarantee that they won't do it.

And looking at the debacles which have been Iraq; Libya; Somalia; Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan, there are two things which are painfully clear about the current administration; it is pathologically incapable of thinking a scenario through to its logical conclusion, or learning from it's mistakes.

That makes for a very dangerous partner and/or enemy in world affairs.

"Psychopaths Are Running The World" Former US Marine Blows Whistle On Syrian False Flag, Exposes Real Agenda

“We have tortured and killed and maimed and raped around this planet; who in their right mind would consider the United States or the West in general to be in any position to punish anybody?” the veteran begins angrily, going on to outline the evidence for Syria being a false flag attack (Note: leaked emails showing how Assad was framed by the USA are detailed in this cached Daily Mail report from January 2013, which was published online briefly before being removed).

He rightly points out that the USA dropped more bombs in Vietnam than during the whole of WW2 combined, that it regularly arms terrorists (but the mainstream press refer to them as ‘freedom fighters’ when it suits them) and the former marine also points out how the so-called ‘War on Terror’ is nothing more than a well-planned strategy to be in a “perpetual state of war to destabilize the region for the Greater Israel plan.”

Obama Warns Russia: Backing Syria Against ISIS ‘Doomed to Failure’

President Obama today rejected Russia calls for increased military cooperation against ISIS, insisting America’s tactics in the war would not change, and declaring that Russia’s strategy of backing the Syrian government against ISIS is “doomed to failure.”

Russia has been providing military aid to Syria for decades, and insists its aid during the Syrian Civil War is unchanged, but warned that the US should coordinate with them to avoid “unintended incidents” of conflict in their mutual war against ISIS.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to President Obama: just how much of a "success", sir, has the US military had against Isis?!?

As reported at theguardian.com last month:

This Saturday marks one full year since the US military began its still-undeclared war against Islamic State that the government officials openly acknowledge will last indefinitely. What do we have to show for it? So far, billions of dollars have been spent, thousands of bombs have been dropped, hundreds of civilians have been killed and Isis is no weaker than it was last August, when the airstrikes began. But don’t take it from me – that’s the conclusion of the US intelligence community itself. As the Associated Press reported a few days ago, the consensus view of the US intelligence agencies is that Isis is just as powerful as it was a year ago, and they can replace fighters faster than they are getting killed. Like it does for every stagnant and endless war, this inconvenient fact will likely will only lead others to call for more killing, rather than an introspection on why continuing to bomb the same region for decades does not actually work. Perhaps we’re not firing missiles at a high enough rate, they’ll say, perhaps we need a full-scale ground invasion, or perhaps we need to kill more civilians to really damage the enemy (yes, this is an actual argument war mongers have been making). Speaking of civilian deaths, they’ve barely gotten mention in the media over the past twelve months, likely because the US military has, somewhat incredibly, only admitted to two civilians casualties in an entire year of airstrikes spanning multiple countries. A new report by journalists and researchers in the region argues that the real number is probably around 500 civilians. Good luck getting the US military to come close to acknowledging that, though. Despite credible reports about civilian casualties almost immediately after the war started, it took the US nearly six months to admit there were any at all. And it’s tougher than ever for members of the media to travel into these war zones, and even when they head over with military officials, they are tightly restricted. Advertisement For now, there are already plans to launch more drone strikes in Libya, increased air power in Syria and who knows what is in store for Iraq. What the next year will bring as US presidential candidates vie for who can be “tougher” against Isis is anyone’s guess. The war-hungry contingent is aided by an increasingly hysterical media which will gladly blare Isis’ terrorism message to maximum effect, while never asking if US actions are actually the thing causing so many terrorists to supposedly target the US. The New York Times front-page headline on Tuesday is a perfect example of the skeptical-free reporting that will keep the public rearing to go for more military action: “Isis or Al Qaeda? American Officials Split Over Top Terror Threat.” Still, not a single attack involving Isis inside the United States has occurred, but that hasn’t stopped government officials from proposing multiple new laws that would invade our privacy and erode our constitutional rights.

So what can be logically deduced from this catastrophic "epic fail" of American foreign and military policy, with billions spent for absolutely no positive result?!?

That ISIS itself is supported by the US government, and used as "the stick" with which to prod Americans into more grudging support of more ground wars of conquest in the Middle East and beyond? Wars that are not about freedom, democracy, and the "American way of life", but ultimately for private profit?!?

Because otherwise, the only thing that comes to mind, from a standpoint of military and governmental "planning' of this whole debacle, is the brilliant one-liner from the comedian Ron White: "You can't fix stupid!!"

EU Moves Toward Beefing Up Naval Mission Over Mediterranean Migrants

European Union member states are moving toward expanding the naval mission to intercept smuggler ships carrying migrants from Libya to Europe, officials said on Friday.
At a meeting of European affairs ministers this coming Monday in Luxembourg, the bloc will say the conditions now are in place for the EU operation to be expanded to a new, more operational phase.

European officials said on Friday that there was broad agreement among member states to begin boarding so-called noncompliant vessels in international waters. But there is less agreement about taking the additional step of entering Libyan territorial waters to confront smugglers close to shore.

Still, European officials have said no U.N. resolution is needed to forcibly board vessels in international waters. The operations, officials have said, would be undertaken to rescue migrants and ensure they aren’t trying to cross the Mediterranean in vessels that could easily capsize.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What on earth does that statement actually mean, "...to rescue migrants"?!?

Does that, in most practical terms, mean "repatriating" migrants to their country of origin, where they will most certainly die from the wars the US and Europe have created, in order for the US and Europe to expropriate resources to which they have absolutely no moral right?!?

In fact, would the European officials making these decisions be more comfortable with these migrants shooting, stabbing to death, or poisoning their children, and then committing suicide, so that Europe "wouldn't have to bother" with these war-generated waves of migration?!?

One has to wonder, reading between the lines here.

Israel adds voice to concerns over Russia's role in Syria

Israel has joined a growing chorus of concern over a reported Russian military buildup in Syria in support of the beleaguered regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is funny to see the US hoisted on its own propaganda petard. The US and its gang members have justified the intense bombing of Syria by saying they are trying to kill ISIS and Al Qaeda, yet they keep missing ISIS and Al Qaeda and hitting critical Syrian infrastructure (triggering the refugee crisis), because the US' real target is and has been Assad! ISIS and Al Qaeda are just the manufactured excuse to make war on a nation that has not done anything to deserve it.

So along comes Russia, saying, "We will help you get ISIS and Al Qaeda" and the US is in a panic, because they very well cannot tell Russia to butt out when the public perception is that they are on the "good guys" side against those eeeeeeevil ISIS and Al Qaeda. If Russia does a good job of cleaning out ISIS and Al Qaeda (and they can), the US loses its cover for a war against Assad.

One more point nobody in the corporate media seems to have picked up on. Syria's government WANTS the Russians to be in Syria. The same cannot be said for the US, Israel, or any of the other plunderers of the Middle East.

"Be Our Guest": Russia Warns Washington Of "Unintended Incidents" In Syria

Reports of Iranian involvement come on the heels of rampant speculation about the scope of Russia’s military buildup near Latakia where US “intelligence” and a series of unnamed “Lebanese sources” claim Moscow is essentially preparing for a full-on push to rout any and all domestic opposition to the Assad regime. The question, of course, is what happens when foreign opposition to the Assad regime isn’t willing to accept the restoration of the strongman’s rule.

Predictably, there’s been no shortage of back-and-forth banter between John Kerry and Sergei Lavrov over the past several days. Here's how Lavrov characterizes the exchange:

“Kerry was also pushing the very strange idea that supporting Bashar Assad in his anti-terror fight only strengthens the positions of ISIS, because the sponsors of ISIS would pump even more arms and money into it,” Lavrov said.

US official: 'IS making and using chemical weapons in Iraq and Syria'

It is unlikely that militants found the chemical agent in Iraq, the official said, because the US military would have likely discovered it during the military campaign it waged in the country for about a decade.

The official said that militants were unlikely to have seized the chemical agent from the Syrian regime before the regime was forced to hand over its stockpile under the threat of US air strikes in 2013.

The most likely theory, the official said, was that it was being made using knowledge that is widely available, and pointed out that the mustard agent is not a complex chemical to produce.

US Warns Of "Unprecedented" Russian Military Buildup In Syria: "It's Starting To Look Like Crimea"

On Wednesday, we brought you an in-depth look at the latest from Syria where Russia is apparently in a mad dash to send reinforcements to Assad and his depleted army at Latakia (or at least that’s the narrative being pushed rather hard by Western media).

Meanwhile, France and Britain have apparently decided that the best way to stem the flow of refugees to Western Europe is to bomb the country from which the refugees are fleeing, which means that in relatively short order, the skies above Syria will be filled with French, British, American, Turkish, and Russian jets, a situation which quite clearly has the potential to cause an “accident.”

With the war drums now beating loudly, the media is keen on documenting anything that even sounds like it might be incremental which, in combination with the fact that situation on the ground truly is rather fluid, means we get more color on the situation with each passing hour. Case in point, from Reuters:

Global Leaders Using Refugee Plight to Push Military Escalation

Speaking in the Australian capital of Canberra on Wednesday, Abbott coupled an announcement that the country will admit an additional 12,000 people fleeing conflict in the Middle East with the declaration that the nation will extend its military actions beyond Iraq by joining in the bombing campaign in eastern Syria this week. The move comes despite questions over the Abbott administration’s legal footing for the air strikes.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister David Cameron is also calling for a “hard military force” to remove President Bashar al Assad in Syria. “Assad has to go, [ISIS] has to go and some of that will require not just spending money, not just aid, not just diplomacy, but it will on occasion require hard military force,” he declared Wednesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In the minds of these men, collectively, the "final solution" to the Syrian "problem" is more bombings, to create more dead Syrians and fewer refugees.

This approach is so cynically immoral, that I do not know where to start.

And there is an issue here that none of these men want to look at, and that is the Russian presence in Syria, with military advisers on the ground, and which the Russians have not kept secret.

Are all of these men, including President Obama, willing to risk war with Russia to effect regime change in Syria?!?

One would hope that some sanity would prevail; however, at least in American geopolitics, sanity has not had an ongoing relationship with US foreign policy in quite some time now.

And unfortunately, just because some action would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing for the US government to do us utterly no guarantee that that will not do it.

And that is what keeps me up nights; contemplating the war-centric nature of American foreign policy, and wondering what kind of completely boneheaded move this Administration will stumble into next, in attempting to save a completely failed foreign policy in Syria.

FLASHBACK - So You Think Military Intervention is a Good Idea?

Well, if you really feel that strongly about it..

Here's your rifle..

Here's your parachute..

We ran out of the desert camo, but here is a bright day-glo orange jumpsuit left over from Gitmo..

Watch your head climbing into that transport plane..

And we'll call whoever it is you are telling us needs to be invaded this week and tell them you are on your way to kick their butts all by yourself.

But given the very long history of the United States government and the corporate media lying and tricking us into wars, you will forgive We The People if we sit this one out and keep our children safe at home.

And just in case you are one of those poor government or media people who are not as well educated in history as the average American citizen, here is a comprehensive but by no means complete list of just how many times We The People have been made total fools of by the US Government and the corporate media.

Exclusive: 50 Spies Say ISIS Intelligence Was Cooked

More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military's Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda’s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.

The complaints spurred the Pentagon’s inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.

“The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command,” one defense official said.

Globalists Who Created Refugee Crisis Now Exploiting It

The politicians and establishment figures in the United States and European Union demanding that the West accept millions of Middle Eastern refugees are the same globalists that created the tragic situation in the first place by destroying the countries their victims are fleeing from. Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond all offer plenty of evidence showing that to be the case. The horrific consequences of the globalist establishment's machinations, though — the genocide of Middle Eastern Christians, the emergence of savage terror groups such as the Islamic State (ISIS), the tsunami of refugees right now cascading into Europe, and more — are only just beginning.

US claims that Russia is ’destabilizing Syria."

The US is behind this proxy war of head-chopping fascist nutjobs, and they have the gall to say that Russia is interfering or destabilizing. What’s gettting them riled up is that they are being called on their game: They are being called to account, and someone is actually standing up to their efforts at regime change. It has nothing to do with ISIS, it has nothing to do with ’revolution.’ It’s just another coup.

1yr, 6,700 airstrikes & $4bn after Obama vowed to ‘destroy’ ISIS, jihadists still on offensive

The US and its allies have carried out 6700 airstrikes at an expense of nearly $4 billion in the year since President Barack Obama ordered a campaign against Islamic State. Yet the terror group shows no sign of defeat and has even expanded its reach.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That is because the US created ISIS as a pretext to bomb Syria and take it away from the Syrian people, triggering the refugee crisis.

US reportedly plans to revamp Syrian rebel training program after early failure

The Pentagon is overhauling its plan to train and equip a fighting force of moderate Syrian rebels against ISIS after many of the program's first 54 graduates were attacked and a number of its fighters captured in late July, according to a published report.

The New York Times, citing four Defense Department and Obama administration officials briefed on the issue, reported late Sunday that the Pentagon is now considering several changes aimed at improving the program's effectiveness. Those proposals include enlarging the size of the groups sent into Syria, dropping them in places where they have local support, and improving the intelligence the fighters are given.

The $500 million train-and-equip initiative, run by U.S. Special Forces in Turkey, was announced by President Obama in June of last year. However, the program didn't actually begin until May of this year.

New Zealand has no mandate to follow Australia into Syria, says Prime Minister John Key

Prime Minister John Key says New Zealand will not take part if other countries send troops into Syria and it would take a Security Council resolution for New Zealand to consider any involvement.

Mr Key met with Australia's Prime Minister Tony Abbott yesterday and discussed the response to Syria, including refugee intakes and Australia's decision to undertake air strikes on Islamic State targets within a week.

Mr Key said Australia could make its own calls on the issue, but he did not believe there was a mandate to get involved in Syria.

Mr Key said while New Zealand was in Iraq to train Iraqi soldiers, that was with the consent of the Iraq Government.

"We don't think we have a mandate in Syria, but we can understand Australia doing what they're doing."

A Security Council resolution would provide a mandate, although so far Russia has blocked attempts to secure strong action on Syria.

How Neocons Destabilized Europe

It will not be easy to rid the world of the grave dangers created by neocon policies.

The neocon prescription of endless “regime change” is spreading chaos across the Middle East and now into Europe, yet the neocons still control the mainstream U.S. narrative and thus have diagnosed the problem as not enough “regime change.”

The refugee chaos that is now pushing deep into Europe – dramatized by gut-wrenching photos of Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi whose body washed up on a beach in Turkey – started with the cavalier ambitions of American neocons and their liberal-interventionist sidekicks who planned to remake the Middle East and other parts of the world through “regime change.”

? Has Russia Been Right All Along About the ‘Arab Spring’?

? Nation contributing editor Stephen F. Cohen and John Batchelor continue their weekly discussions of the new US-Russian cold war. Heading this installment is the Obama administration’s vehement opposition to Moscow’s suggestion that it might deploy Russian air power to Syria against ISIS forces. Cohen argues that this is due to a number of irrational positions in Washington: the new American cold-war reflex of seeing every Russian proposal in a negative light; the Obama administration’s determination to fight a two-fight war in Syria—against ISIS and against Syrian President Assad, whom Moscow supports; and an unwillingness to consider Russian President Putin’s longstanding argument that the US policy of regime change in the Middle East invariably worsens conditions there, as already evidenced by events in Iraq, Egypt, and Libya.

INCALCULABLE FOLLY: Warmongers Exploiting Migrant Crisis Will Confront Russia

In what can only be described as deception Western leaders have sought to blame Syria’s Assad for the current Migrant Crisis facing Europe, while forgetting to mention that their actions destroyed the lives of the thousands of fleeing people in the first place.

As far as world leaders go, only Russia’s President Putin has pointed out this fact. Putin also made it clear that Russia is supporting the Assad government militarily, in an entirely legal fashion we might add, to wipe out the invading terrorist armies trained by the West in Jordan.

What this essentially means is that new attempts to exploit the crisis, to push for further Western military intervention, will end up crashing head first into Russia.

Why ‘that’ photo mattered this time: Our children could be on that beach, too

The photos of a 3-year-old lying on the beach of Bodrum in southwest Turkey have gone around the world. Time for Obama to admit he has failed in Syria

The human tragedies of the refugee crisis are beyond anything one could bear. The photographs of drowned Syrian children whose bodies washed up on Libyan coasts and Aylan Kurdi, a 3-year-old boy found dead on a Turkish beach, shocked the world last week, as if no one knew how many people had to flee Syria to neighboring countries since the conflict started and who left those children to this fate.

U.S. President Barack Obama publicly praised German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her leadership in dealing with the so-called chaotic migration crisis but forgot to mention his policy on Syria has been a failure and that he paved the way for such a crisis.

Obama’s muddy policy on Syria blamed for refugee crisis

The White House acknowledged Tuesday that the U.S., along with other nations across the Middle East and Europe, must do more to alleviate the worsening Syrian refugee crisis — but that admission highlights how the administration often has seemed several steps behind as Syria sunk into chaos, a fact Republican critics, fellow Democrats and international leaders have pointed to in recent days and weeks.

Obama administration officials said the State Department has begun a review of what steps the U.S. can take to aid in the crisis, which has seen more than 4 million Syrians flee their war-torn country after years of bloodshed.

Um, no, Aylan’s family were Kurdish refugees from Kobani who had to flee that city when it was besieged, not by Assad, but by Assad’s enemy: ISIS.

Craig Murray: I Can Reveal the Legal Advice on Drone Strikes, and How the Establishment Works

David Bethlehem had developed, in his work for Israel, an extremist doctrine of the right of States to use pre-emptive self-defence – a doctrine which would not be accepted by the vast majority of public international lawyers. He clinched his appointment by Blair as the FCO chief legal adviser by presenting a memorandum to the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee in 2004 outlining this doctrine, and thus de facto defending the attack on Iraq and the Bush/Blair doctrine.

A key sentence of David Bethlehem’s memorandum is this

“It must be right that states are able to act in self-defence in circumstances where there is evidence of further imminent attacks by terrorist groups, even if there is no specific evidence of where such an attack will take place or of the precise nature of the attack.”

There is a fundamental flaw in this argument. How can you be certain that an attack in “imminent”, if you are not certain where or what it is? Even if we can wildly imagine a scenario where the government know of an “imminent” attack, but not where or what it is, how could killing someone in Syria stop the attack in the UK? If a team were active, armed and in course of operation in the UK – which is needed for “imminent” – how would killing an individual in Syria prevent them from going through with it? It simply does not add up as a practical scenario.

At the same time a passenger flight has arrived, presumably bringing people who will move into the modular housing which has been erected at the airfield and can now hold in excess of 1,000 people. In Major Escalation, Washington Demands Greece Blocks Its Airspace For Russian Flights To Syria

Moments ago, following ever louder hints - if still unconfirmed by the Kremlin - that Russian forces are either en route to Syria or already there (Russian soldier's VK post stating troops are in Syria, intercepted communication from a Russian An-124 military cargo plane en route to Latakia, Russian Roll-on/roll-off ship allegedly carrying military equipment to Syria), the US made a dramatic diplomatic escalation ahead of what is now assured to be the second major showdown between the US and Russia in Syria, over a Qatari gas pipeline no less, when according to Reuters, it asked Greece to deny Russia the use of its airspace for supply flights to Syria, a Greek official said on Monday, after Washington told Moscow it was deeply concerned by reports of a Russian military build up in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US is in a real corner of their own making. They send weapons and supplies to Al Qaeda and ISIS in Syria, then use the presence of Al Qaeda and ISIS as an excuse to bomb Syria, claiming they are targeting the eeeeeevil Al Qaeda and ISIS. So Russia ways, "We'll help" meaning Russia will help the Syrian government go after Al Qaeda and ISIS. The US cannot admit that Al Qaeda and ISIS are proxy armies working for the US, and since Syria's legitimate government wants Russia's help, the US has to resort to trying to blockade Russia behind Greece, Bulgaria, and so forth. All f this is a violation of international laws regarding freedom of the seas and skies.

The border with Austria: Pole shocking relationship with the coach assaulted by immigrants

“Half an hour ago on the border between Italy and Austria i saw a huge crowd of immigrants. So what, Germany is now a paradise?

I saw an elderly Italian woman in a car that was surrounded by the immigrants. They pulled her by the hair out of the car and wanted to use it to go to Germany. They tried to topple the bus i was in. They threw feces at us, banging on the door for the driver to open it, spat on the glass. My question is- for what purpose? How do they want to assimilate in Germany? For a moment, i felt like in a warzone. I really feel sorry for these people, but if they would reach Poland – I do not think they would receive any understanding from us.

US-Led Western Nations Plan Escalated War on Syria

this is their idea of humanitarianism?!
snip: Full-blown US-led Western war on Assad looms - Libya 2.0. In mid-August, Israeli media reported IDF preparations for possible Golan Heights ground operations in Syrian territory - readied to respond if its military attacks Israel, a likely false flag scheme for anti-Assad aggression if ordered.

Events on the ground and planned show America, Britain, Canada, France, perhaps other Western countries and Israel likely intend using phony war on ISIS and the refugee flood caused by regional conflicts as a pretext for full-scale war on Syria - to topple Assad and replace him and his government with a US-controlled stooge regime, the same old imperial plot.

At Heart of Humanitarian Crisis, Israel Building Wall to Keep Syrian Refugees Out

"Israel is a small country, and we do not have the geographic and demographic depths [to absorb them]," Netanyahu's office declared in an English language statement released Sunday. "We will not allow Israel to be flooded with illegal migrants and terrorists."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel has apparently never heard about how an exodus of people will need refuge! :)

Why Murdoch Pushes for War

Israel Grants Oil Rights in Syria to Murdoch and Rothschild

Israel has granted oil exploration rights inside Syria, in the occupied Golan Heights, to Genie Energy. Major shareholders of Genie Energy – which also has interests in shale gas in the United States and shale oil in Israel – include Rupert Murdoch and Lord Jacob Rothschild. This from a 2010 Genie Energy press release:

Claude Pupkin, CEO of Genie Oil and Gas, commented, “Genie’s success will ultimately depend, in part, on access to the expertise of the oil and gas industry and to the financial markets. Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch are extremely well regarded by and connected to leaders in these sectors. Their guidance and participation will prove invaluable.”

PUTIN NOW ‘ON THE OFFENSIVE’ IN SYRIAN CONFLICT – GERMAN NEWSPAPER

Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized Western foreign policy in the Middle East but is ready to cooperate with the US to establish peace in the region, German newspaper Deutsche Witschafts Nachrichten said on Sunday.

According to the newspaper, Putin’s rhetoric could mean that he is “going on the offensive” in the Syrian conflict by saying that Moscow is ready to help Western countries in the fight against the Islamic State. However, he also claimed that the West was not without its share of the blame for the Syrian conflict.

“In Russia, we have even several years ago said that if our so-called Western partners conduct erroneous policies in regions of the Muslim world, in the Middle East and North Africa, this will lead to large-scale issues,” Putin said on Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"According to the newspaper, Putin’s rhetoric could mean that he is “going on the offensive” in the Syrian conflict by saying that Moscow is ready to help Western countries in the fight against the Islamic State."

How in the world could what Putin said be so misinterpreted, unless Isis has been created, and guided, by US foreign policy as a foil to attempt to get the US public to consent to more boots on the ground in the Middle East?!?

Benjamin Netanyahu rejects calls for Israel to take in more refugees – and pledges to build 18-mile border fence instead

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed an urgent call from his opposition leader to "not be apathetic" in the face of desperate Syrian refugees.

The leader of the ruling right-wing Likud Party said Israel was "not indifferent" to the fates of families fleeing persecution from its northern neighbour - which it considers an enemy state - but that the country was not big enough to take them.

He has instead announced that a new 18-mile fence will be built along the frontier with Jordan, Reuters has reported.

White House: Russian Military Action Against ISIS in Syria Would be 'Destabilizing'

Today's lesson in how propaganda works: The rumor mill turns a trickle of a story early this week about "thousands" of Russian soldiers deploying to Syria any day -- a wholly unsourced story originating on an Israeli website -- into a torrent of hyperventilating about the "Russian invasion" of Syria.

Today neocon convicted felon Eliot Abrams took to the Council on Foreign Relations website to amplify the Israeli article (again with no sources or evidence) to a whole new and more dramatic article ominously titled "Putin in Syria." Abrams adds "reporting" by Michael Weiss, who has long been on the payroll of viscerally anti-Putin oligarch Michael Khodorkovsky, without revealing the obvious bias in the source. Never mind, all Weiss adds to Abrams' argument is that the Pentagon is "cagey" about discussing Russian involvement in Syria before again referencing the original (unsourced) Israeli article.

The Hidden Forces Behind Syria’sPresident Bashar al-Assad

Just like President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Syria’s President Bashar Hafez al-Assad has been the victim of unrelenting character assassination and false reporting by the Western Mainstream Media (MSM). Many of the MSM outlets throughout the Anglo-American Axis (AAA) have published one false story after another in a concerted effort to turn the entire world against him. And for what?

Why are they so determined to overthrow one of the very few righteous leaders in the Middle East?

Dogs of Western resentment bark as Chinese WWII parade passes

The importance for China of this coming Thursday’s parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII in the Asia-Pacific cannot be overstated enough.

The parade rolling past Tiananmen Square officially celebrates the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This is an extremely serious – and sensitive – business for 1.4 billion Chinese and the Chinese diaspora all across the world.

And once again, the West – displaying trademark cultural/historical insensitivity – has blown it. Beijing is carefully scrutinizing the diplomatic ramifications of shows and no-shows. Symbolically, absences speak volumes.

President Vladimir Putin will be in Beijing, as well as leaders of the four Central Asian ‘stans’ that are part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Sanctioned Terrorism

…we must fight sanctioned terrorism today.

What is left unmentioned and unrecognized in our collective psyche is the kind of terrorism that has been deliberately obfuscated: sanctioned terrorism or terrorism with a license – sanctions.

Shamelessly, even after sanctioned terrorism took the life of one million Iraqis, the UNSC licensed terrorism against Iran – sanctions, without any remorse for the lost lives of 1 million Iraqi victims of sanctioned terrorism and untold numbers or other victims across the globe.

The overall failure to identify and deliberately obfuscate this act of terrorism has enabled this premeditated act of terrorism to continue with impunity. The success of this deception is owed to controlling the narrative with complicity from the media. This has been so effective that even the victims of sanctioned terrorism fail to grasp that they are being subjected to terrorism.

Terrorism is foundation of Israeli regime: Rouhani

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says the Israeli regime has been founded and continues to survive on terrorism.

President Rouhani made the remark at an international conference commemorating the Iranian victims of terrorism in the capital, Tehran, on Monday.

“This regime (Tel Aviv) began its work on the basis of intimidation, terror and occupation, and is continuing [to move on] the same anti-human path today,” Rouhani said.

In his keynote speech, the president also referred to Takfiri groups, including Daesh, Taliban and Boko Haram, as other sources of terrorism in the region.

Blowback on a NATO beach – Pepe Escobar

We’ve had it coming from the beginning.

And when it came, virtually the whole planet reacted with stunned silence. Sometimes it takes just a photograph to put a noxiously complex version of hell in perspective.

We’ve had it coming when the “we’re the new OPEC” Bush administration invaded, occupied and destroyed Iraq – creating the set-up for the establishment of Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

We’ve had it coming when the Petraeus surge bribed Sunnis to half-heartedly fight Al-Qaeda in Iraq – which then took its time to reorganize in the heart of the desert, change its name to Islamic State and plot a comeback.

We’ve had it coming when NATO, enthusiastically “led” by London and Paris, and allied with hardcore Salafi-jihadis, set out to duly “liberate” Libya into a failed state run by militias.
