The Battle in the South of Syria is Coming to an End: Israel Bowed To Russia’s Will

After only two weeks since the beginning of the military operation, jihadists and militants in most of eastern rural Daraa in south Syria have either surrendered or were overwhelmed, the over 70 villages they occupied were liberated by the Syrian Army. Meanwhile, Israel has reduced its requests or conditions pronounced in the last two weeks: from launching threats against the approach of the Syrian Army towards the South, to menaces if Damascus pushes forces beyond the 1974 demarcation line and the disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel. This clearly means all players (the US, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia) have dropped the jihadists and militants they were training and are turning their back on them: they are now on their own.

The US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) group Shabab al-Sunna is handing over its weapons to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the town of Bosra al-Sham in the province of Daraa.

According to released photos and videos, the group has handed over two battle tanks, two BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles and a 37 mm automatic air defense gun M1939, a 160mm mortar cannon and at least 6 US-made TOW anti-tank missile launchers.

Besides this, the SAA has recovered a notable number of mortars, ammunition and light weapons.

According to pro-government sources, the FSA’s Shabab al-Sunna will continue handing over weapons in the upcoming days. Most of its members have chosen to settle their legal status and to join the SAA to combat ISIS and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in southern Syria.

Lindsey Graham Inside Turkish Occupied North Syria: US Pullout Would Be "Terrible"

A certain outspoken pro regime change interventionist and neocon hawk from South Carolina must have heard that the war in Syria is winding down.

No doubt he spit out his coffee mid-gulp when reading a recent Washington Post headline declaring, "The world learns to live with Assad in Syria" set just above an image of the Syrian president with the bold-faced type, Here To Stay.

So what was Senator Lindsey Graham to do?

Naturally, he popped up in Northern Syria early this week, where he made a surprise visit to Manbij (near government-held Aleppo) to declare before cameras that a premature US troop withdrawal would be "terrible".

27 settlements in in the southern Syrian provinces of al-Quneitra, al-Suwayda and Daraa have returned to the government control over the past week, a spokesman for the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria said on July 3.

He added that “special attention” is paid to efforts to create conditions to accommodate refugees returning from territories still controlled by militants as well as from other Syrian regions and neighboring countries.

Units of the Russian Military Police have recently been spotted in Busra al-Sham and Musayrifa.

In late June, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Tiger Forces and their allies launched a fully-fledged military operation to liberate southern Syria and to re-establish control of this part of the border with Jordan.

British Air Force Lost Special Forces Plane on Covert Syria Mission

In a separate incident, the Sunday Times reported that a £44 million transport aircraft has been seriously damaged in an accident in the Syrian desert. The damage was caused after a heavy landing during a covert mission. The aircraft, a C-130J Hercules, was used by the British SAS (Special Forces) in special missions in Iraq and Syria.

There have been various scuffles between the coalition forces and the pro-Assad Shi'ite militias which control the border area.

On June 21, several Maghawir al-Thowra combatants and coalition "consultants" fell under fire from from outside the zone. The firing came from an area not known to be under ISIS control, according to the British Ministry of Defense.

The forces withdrew in order to defuse the situation, but one position persisted in firing upon them, said the Ministry statement.

It said the retaliatory strike was "wholly proportionate," but refused to disclose the identity of the forces attacked.

Is the US-Kurdish Alliance Over? New Agreement Between Kurds and Assad Could Spell End for U.S. Role in Syria

For over a year, much of northeastern Syria has found itself under de facto occupation by the United States and its military proxy, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The occupied territory, accounting for nearly a third of Syria’s total landmass and including large portions of the al-Hasakah, al-Raqqa and Deir Ez-Zor regions, has largely been overseen by the SDF, an umbrella group of militias dominated by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which allied with the U.S. early in the conflict.

While the SDF has seemingly had complete control of the occupied territory — which boasts most of Syria’s oil, gas, freshwater and agricultural resources — it seems that increased local resistance to the SDF’s control of the region, as well as the U.S.’ failure to protect its allies elsewhere in Syria, has now pushed the YPG to reconsider its alliance with the United States and instead consider allying with the Syrian government, led by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Secret US 2006 Gov’t Document Reveals Plan To Destabilize Syria By Using Extremists, Muslim Brotherhood, Elections

By Brandon Turbeville

As the Syrian government makes massive gains across the country, many are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the Western destabilization and attempt to destroy the secular government of Syria by the United States and the West. However, it must be remembered that the goal to impose hegemony across the world by the Anglo-financier system is not some fly-by-night venture that cropped up in 2011 to be easily abandoned in 2018. Indeed, the plan to destroy Syria has spanned nearly four decades, only moving into high gear in 2011 under the Obama administration.

While the destabilization initiative did begin in earnest under Obama’s watch, the truth is that previous administration were also heavily involved in the planning of Syria’s destruction.

Number of Syrians fleeing Daraa reaches 270,000

At least 270,000 people have fled Syria’s southwestern city of Daraa to border areas near Jordan due to fierce attacks by Syrian regime forces, the UN said Monday, Anadolu reports.

Of the total, 135,000 were children, Hitam Malkawi, the spokesperson for the UN in Jordan, told Anadolu Agency.

The current number is far above expectations, Malkawi added.

The spokesperson said they are waiting for the right time to distribute aid in accordance with the UN’s working principles.

On June 12, the Syrian regime, supported by Iranian militias and a Russian air force, launched a military operation into opposition held areas in southern Syria.

US Must Withdraw from Syria: Damascus

Damascus said that the United must withdraw its forces from Syria, stressing its military presence in the Arab state no longer makes any sense amid the successes of the Syrian government’s forces on the ground.

In remarks published by Sputnik, Syrian parliament secretary Khaled Aboud said: “The United States can no longer keep its forces in Syria since it gains no benefits from it.”

According to the official, the US forces were deployed to Syria amid the expectations of the possible partition of the country.

“Now, however, we have left this page far behind, and there is no longer any need [for the United States] to keep these forces in the region,” Aboud told Sputnik.

According to the Syrian state media, at least 10 villages – Tisiyah, Maaraba, al-Samaqiyat, Smad, Samj, Abu Khatula, Elemtaih, al-Taebah, al-Nada and Jamrin – almost signed the reconciliation agreement and militants started preparing for surrender.

Militants in the town of Bosra al-Sham already started surrendering weapons. At the same time, the so-called moderate opposition in the town of Tafas and have pledged allegiance to the ISIS-linked Khalid al-Walid Army.

Syrian rebels lose string of southwest towns

A string of Syrian rebel-held towns and villages accepted government rule on Saturday as insurgent lines collapsed in parts of the southwest under an intense bombardment that the United Nations says has forced 160,000 people to flee.

The southwest was an early hotbed of the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad and defeat there would leave rebels with just one remaining stronghold — the area around Idlib province bordering Turkey in the northwest.

Rebels met Russian negotiators on Saturday to seek peace terms for Deraa province, where most of their southwest territory is located, but said these failed. Moscow is Assad’s strongest ally and its air power since 2015 has been crucial to his recapture of vast swathes of Syria.

IDF reinforcements seen as a message to Assad: Don’t enter demilitarized zone

Israel’s deployment of reinforcements to the Golan Heights is a message to Syrian dictator Bashar Assad as his forces draw closer to the Israeli border, an Israeli analyst said Sunday.

“Now that your army is coming south, don’t send them into the demilitarized zone established in the 1974 [ceasefire] agreement. Israel will see this as a serious violation,” was how Hadashot television news’s defense analyst Roni Daniel couched Israel’s apparent message.

Israel’s army sent tanks and artillery cannons to the Syrian border on Sunday morning amid a renewed offensive by Assad’s forces and the Russian military against the remaining rebel holdouts in Syria’s southwest.

Israel Deploys Armored Vehicles and Artillery to Syrian Golan

The Israeli army has deployed several armored and artillery forces on Sunday, into the Israeli-occupied Syrian territory of the Golan Heights.

According to Ma’an News Agency, an army spokesperson said that the deployment of Israeli forces comes in the wake of an assessment of the position of the “Northern Military Command”, in the light of developments on the Syrian side of the border, deciding it is necessary to strengthen the Golan Heights armored forces and artillery.

The spokesperson added that the Israeli army considers it very important to maintain the disengagement agreement between Israel and Syria that has been in effect since 1974, and stressed that they will continue to abide by the principle of non-intervention in the conflict happening in Syria.

UK Warplanes Bomb Pro-Gov't Forces in Syria After Attack by 'Unidentified Force'

The Royal Air Force strike on Syrian troops is the first of its kind since April, when the US, UK and France launched missile strikes against multiple targets in the Arab republic after an alleged chemical attack in Douma.

A Ministry of Defense spokesman confirmed that the RAF attack had taken place, and said that a group of anti-Damascus Maghawir al-Thowra opposition militia and coalition "advisers" were attacked by an "unidentified force" outside the al-Tanf base on June 21, prompting the RAF response.

"As an act of collective self-defense, RAF Typhoons dropped a single Paveway IV on the position, which successfully removed the threat to our coalition partners," the spokesman said. "There was no need to inform Parliament of this action…only in the event that civilian casualties have resulted from a RAF strike would the [defense secretary] inform parliament of events," he added.

Kremlin doubts veracity of CNN report on Trump’s plans for Syria

The topic of Syria will be fully discussed at the July 16 summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump in Helsinki, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Friday.

On Thursday, CNN reported that Trump had hoped to clinch a deal with Putin in Helsinki that would allow for prompt pullout of US troops from Syria.

"I have no idea what the CNN report is based on, or if there is anything factual behind this report. We know nothing about it and it makes you wonder," Peskov said, elucidating that he can’t understand where the TV network got their information from.

Trump privately floats plan to make a deal with Putin on Syria

President Donald Trump once again raised the idea of pulling the US out of Syria this week -- this time privately during a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan at the White House, according to two diplomatic sources familiar with the sit-down.

The two leaders discussed Syria at length. One source told CNN that Trump believes he can strike a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a so-called exclusion zone in southwest Syria that will allow the US to "get out ASAP."

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the withdrawal of some equipment and troops from Syria. He said that 13 warplanes, 14 helicopters, and 1,140 Russian soldiers have left Syria in the past few days.

Russia Today (RT) reported, today, that at a ceremony in honour of Russian military university graduates, Putin said that, “during its fight against terrorists in Syria, the Russian army clearly demonstrated its increased fighting capabilities and high level of coordination among its units”.

Addressing the freshman graduates, Putin added, “Today you and your colleagues should take full advantage of this experience in combat training.”

The Russian president pointed out that the new sophisticated weapons the Russian army will soon receive will multiply its military capabilities, adding that the intercontinental Avangard hypersonic missiles will be used by the Russian forces in the near future then to be followed a year later by the Sarmat missiles.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Tiger Forces and their allies have continued their successful operation against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the province of Daraa. They have liberated the town of al-Hirak, the villages of Rakham, al-Surah and Alma as well as the 49 Air Defense Brigade and some nearby points.

Additionally, government forces liberated Sad Ibta, Tell Hamad and the 271st Brigade north of the city of Daraa.

A humanitarian corridor allowing civilians to withdraw from the combat area was also opened near the town of Da’il.

All signals show that the SAA is set to continue its military operation in southern Syria in a full force.

On June 28, the SAA and its allies repelled an ISIS attack on their positions southwest of the border town of al-Bukamal. According to the SAA General Command, many ISIS fighters died and a vehicle was destroyed in the clashes.

1,000 Surrender to Syrian Army in Southern Amnesty Offer

Syrian state media is reporting that an estimated 1,000 wanted men in southern Syria’s Daraa Province surrendered to the army on Wednesday. This included members of rebel groups, as well as draft dodgers and others.

This was part of an attempted reconciliation effort. The Syrian government promised amnesty, saying they’d clear the records of everyone who reached out to the army for a surrender instead of waiting to be captured.

US, UK Financing 54 Militia Groups in Syria Despite Trump Vow to ‘Get Out’

Despite US President Donald Trump vowing “I want to get out” of Syria to “bring our troops back home” a few months ago, a new report indicates the US military and a cohort of allies including Israel, Britain, France, Jordan and “some Persian Gulf states” are still supporting some 54 militia groups in Syria.

The US, Russia and United Nations all designate al-Nusra Front, also known as al-Qaeda in Syria, a terrorist organization. But for some reason, the terror group's fighters appear "to be deeply entrenched alongside these US-backed militias in key, strategic towns and villages scattered throughout" the southern part of Syria, The American Conservative reported Sunday.

Tens of Civilians, Militants Killed, Wounded in Several Blasts in Northern Syria

Tens of civilians and Ankara-backed forces were killed or wounded after three heavy explosions hit the bases of Turkey-backed militants in the town of Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo on Wednesday.
Two bomb-laden motorcycles went off at a base of the al-Shamiyeh Front near Qawa square in Afrin.

In the meantime, heavy infighting was reported between al-Shamiyeh Front and Liwa al-Mo'atasem in a large area from Qawa square to the industrial zone and al-Hall Bazaar.

Another blast hit Deir Sam Hospital. The hospital had halted operation after it came under threat and was forced to shut down by the Turkish troops.

The Turkey-backed militants have gone on alert immediately after the blasts.

Preliminary reports said that at least 30 militants and civilians have been killed or wounded in the explosions.

Local sources said on Sunday that the Ankara forces started closing off all the streets across the town of Jandaris in Northeastern Aleppo.

Syrian Army Discovers Saudi, Israeli Equipment in Terrorists' Positions in Dara'a Province

The Syrian Army troops continued cleansing operations in the newly-freed regions in Eastern Dara'a and found a field hospital and a large arms depot with equipment supplied by Israel, Saudi Arabia and certain western countries.
The army men carried out mop-up operations in newly-freed Maliha al-Atash region and along a road to Busra al-Harir, discovering a large field hospital that used to be run by the terrorists.

The army soldiers found a large volume of Israeli and Saudi medicines in the field hospital.

In the meantime, the army's engineering units discovered a large volume of western-made ammunition and arms in a depot of terrorists in the town of Maliha al-Atash.

A field source, meanwhile, pointed to the large volume of arms and ammunitions in the depot, and said it was the terrorists' main warehouse for storing military equipment in the towns of Busra al-Harir, al-Harak, Naheta and other regions in Eastern Dara'a.

Syrian government forces have cleared over 5,200km2 of the Deir Ezzor desert of ISIS cells, the Syrian General Command said on June 27.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies launched a military operation in the area on June 20. The rapid progress in the desert can be explained by the lack of resistance from the ISIS cells, which had mostly withdrawn towards the Homs desert.

The SAA and the Tiger Forces liberated the villages of Mulayha al-Sharqiyah, Mulayha al-Gharbiyah, Nahitah and Samma al-Hneidat in the eastern part of Daraa province from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) and its allies and entered the village of al-Hirak.

According to reports, 450 members of the Free Syrian Army also surrendered to the SAA amid the government advance.

Meanwhile, the ISIS-affiliated Khalid ibn al-Walid Army and units of the US-backed FSA reached a ceasefire agreement in southern Syria, according to a report by the news outlet Nedaa Syria.

The battle for southern Syria is one of the most complicated battles undertaken by the Syrian army and its allies during the seven years of war imposed on the Levant. The beginning of the battle and the decision of Damascus to initiate it, disregarding Israel’s opposition, was largely and exclusively covered in previous articles. This battle is not expected to end soon and for this reason, it was decided by the parties concerned to divide it into two steps, and to postpone the complicated second part bordering Israel pending more “storming talks” between the two superpowers, according to well-informed sources in Daraa.

The first step of the southern battle was agreed between Russia and the US and it generated no opposition from Washington. It is related to Suweida’ province and east and north-east rural Daraa with the aim of reopening the borders with Jordan.

In Busra al-Harir, government troops captured at least 5 battle tanks – one T-72AV, one T-72 and three T-55M, which had been abandoned by retreating militants.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) carried out limited counter-attacks but failed to stop the government advance.

Meanwhile, pro-government sources said that the SAA is developing a new advance in an attempt to capture the siols and the Gharaz prison southeast of the city of Daraa. The goal of the advance is to outflank the militant-held part of Daraa and to cut off it from the village of Elnaymah, which is the main militant stronghold east of the provincial capital.

Israel to ‘Prolong Bloodshed' in Syria as Media Pushes ‘Sensational' Iran Claims

With two Israeli missile having struck targets near a Syrian airport on Tuesday, Rick Sterling, an investigative journalist and member of the Syria Solidarity Movement, told Sputnik that the likelihood of Israel backing down from its attacks are pretty slim.

As Sputnik previously reported, the Israeli Air Force was attempting a late night attack on an Iranian cargo plane that was unloading at Damascus International Airport. Footage has since emerged allegedly showing the aftermath of the Israeli strike.

The incident follows multiple strikes by Israel in recent months in what it calls "retaliatory" measures against Iran's presence in Syria, which it sees as a threat to its safety. Iran has had a foothold in Syria since the conflict first began in 2011.

The apparent ceasefire collapse also occurred as airstrikes reportedly struck Damascus International Airport on Tuesday. DARA’A LATEST: Syrian Arab Army Mercilessly Cuts US-Backed Terrorists

The Syrian Army has been on a rampage in southern Syria against terrorist forces, showing no mercy and liberating huge swathes of territory from the clutches of US-backed jihadists.

The Syrian Army launched its operations against terrorist forces a week ago in the southern Syrian province of Dara’a in a bid to clear a huge chunk of the Syrian-Jordanian border.

The Syrian Army thus far has liberated over 400 square kilometers from terrorist forces, mostly concentrated on the rocky plateau of the Al-Lajat region of eastern Dara’a province. After liberating this region and the villages within it, the elite Tiger Forces of the Syrian Army yesterday began a night assault on Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra positions in the key town of Busra al-Harir.

The liberation of Busra al-Harir now means that the Tiger Forces can now concentrate their attacks on the town of Al-Hirak, one of the most important towns in the eastern Dara’a countryside.

With the first skirmishes of the Syrian southwestern offensive starting to grow into outright fighting, reports out of the area say that over 50,000 civilians have fled their homes in just the past week. This is overwhelmingly from the areas in the de-escalation zone expected to be major targets in the fighting.

Journalists in the area say that at least 27 civilians were killed. The displaced are scattering in all directions, some going deeper into rebel territory along the border, others heading north out of the likely contested areas.

The de-escalation zone in Daraa was, for quite some time, totally calm, and a lot of the people living in this area were much safer than people in most of the rest of war-torn Syria. That zone is rapidly collapsing, however.

45,000 have fled fighting in southwest Syria, figure could double - UN

At least 45,000 people have fled fighting in Syria's southwestern Deraa province, heading towards the border with Jordan, the United Nations said Tuesday.

Jens Laerke, spokesman of the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said that civilians including children had been killed and injured and a hospital had been put out of operation by an air strike.

Bettina Luescher, spokeswoman of the U.N.'s World Food Programme (WFP), told the ssame briefing: "We expect the number of displaced people could nearly double as violence escalates."

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Tiger Forces and their allies have reportedly established full control of the district of Lajat in the province of Daraa. According to pro-government sources, militants in the area have mostly surrendered to government troops.

Additionally, the SAA and its allies liberated the village of Mleha al-‘Atsh and captured the center of Busr al-Harir.

If all these reports are confirmed, government forces have liberated about 400km2 since the start of clashes in northeastern Daraa last week.

On June 25, the Russian Defense Ministry released a statement saying that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) had carried out a large attack on government positions in the province. The attack was repelled and 70 militants were killed.

This attack likely was an attempt to sabotage the SAA progress in Lajat.

On June 26, Israel reportedly carried out a new missile strike on Syria targeting the Damascus International Airport.

Are al-Qaeda Affiliates Fighting Alongside U.S. Rebels in Syria’s South?

At first glance, all appears calm in this southern Syrian city where protests first broke out seven years ago. Residents mill around shops in preparation for the evening Iftar meal when they break their daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

But the tension is nonetheless palpable in this now government-controlled city. A few weeks ago, Russian-brokered reconciliation talks in southern Syria fell apart when Western-backed militants rejected a negotiated peace.

Whether there will now be a full-on battle for the south or not, visits last week to Syria’s three southern governorates, Daraa, Quneitra, and Suweida, reveal a startling possibility: al-Qaeda’s Syrian franchise—the Nusra Front—appears to be deeply entrenched alongside these U.S.-backed militants in key, strategic towns and villages scattered throughout the south.

‘We don’t need the West’: Assad to ban foreign money from Syria reconstruction

Syria will not allow Western investors to step into the rebuilding of war-damaged country as they only come to “take” from foreign economies, Syria’s Bashar Assad told Russian media, adding he will seek friendly aid instead.

The US and its Western allies have been actively engaged in the seven-year long war in Syria, including the illegal stationing of troops in the country and backing anti-government militants such as Free Syrian Army (FSA) and “moderate” Islamist groups. The war has dealt billions in damage to the country, but President Assad is determined to rebuild without a single penny from the “dishonest” West.

“They [the West] won’t be part of reconstruction in Syria, because very simply we won’t allow them to be part of it… we don’t need the West. The West is not honest at all, they don’t give, they only take,” the Syrian leader told Russian NTV channel on Sunday.

US using chemical weapons as pretext for intervention in Syria: President Assad

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad says the United States is using the issue of chemical weapons as a pretext to carry out an attack against the Syrian army.

Assad said in an interview with Russian television channel NTV on Sunday that such allegations were being used as an excuse for an intervention.

"The story with chemical weapons is a pretext for a direct military intervention and attacks on the Syrian army," the president said, adding, "We fully eliminated chemical weapons. We haven’t had them in Syria since 2013."

The Syrian government surrendered its stockpile of chemical weapons in 2014 to a joint mission led by the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which oversaw the destruction of the weaponry.

Fresh Clashes Reported between Two US-Backed Militant Groups in Northeastern Syria

The US-backed Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) exchanged fire with the Washington-backed Raqqa Liwa al-Thowar Arab militant group on Sunday.
The SDF militias embarked on laying siege on most bases of Raqqa Liwa al-Thowar in Raqqa city.

After the SDF started capturing a number of Liwa al-Thowar militants, the Arab militant group called on Raqqa residents to assist them to confront the SDF.

In the meantime, Liwa al-Thowar in a later statement took the US-led coalition responsible, and called for immediate reaction by the US forces.

The statement further said that the US plan for arming the Kurdish units was not aimed at driving ISIL from Raqqa but to replace the ISIL with the Kurds, stressing that there is no difference between ISIL and Kurdish militias.

On Monday, a bomb, planted by unknown assailants in the vehicle of the SDF Military Police, went off in Tal Abyadh street in Raqqa city, killing at least five SDF militias.

Turkish Army, Allied Militants in Panic over Kurds' Attacks in Northern Syria

The Turkish Army troops and allied militants are reportedly in panic over the Kurdish militias' imminent heavy offensives in Afrin region in Northwestern Aleppo as tensions between the Kurds and Ankara forces are rising, local sources said on Sunday.
The sources said that the Ankara forces have started closing off all the streets across the town of Jandaris in Northeastern Aleppo.

The sources pointed to anguish felt by the Turkish soldiers and their allied militants over the Kurdish militias' surprise attack, adding that the Ankara forces prefer not to wear military uniforms to avoid becoming the target of Kurdish attacks.

The sources further said that the Kurdish militias launched eight heavy offensives against Turkish troops and their allied militants in the region in the past week.

In the meantime, local sources in Rajou in Afrin reported that the Ankara forces have plundered three power generators and telecommunication masts.

Washington Is Using Proxies To Terrorize Syria

The reports from Syria indicate that Washington still intends to provide extensive military support, as well as other types of assistance, to the terrorist groups that yet remain in the southern part of that country, apparently wanting to use them to pursue the same goal the US was after seven years ago: to slow down the process of reaching a political settlement and to overthrow the legitimate government in that Arab country, bringing in a puppet regime of its own.

Pro-Assad troops take over Golan UN post in demilitarized area on Israeli border

Forces loyal to the regime of Syrian strongman Bashar Assad took control of an abandoned UN post in the no-man’s land between the Israeli and Syrian areas of the Golan Heights, Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported on Sunday.

The post, abandoned by United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) troops on the Golan, is meant to be free of both Israeli and Syrian troops, according to the cessation of hostilities agreement between the two countries that followed the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

According to the report, UNDOF has identified ongoing infrastructure work at the site.

On June 23, militants in 11 settlements in southern Syria surrendered to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and declared their readiness to fight ISIS and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra), the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on June 24.

According to pro-government sources, about 900 members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) joined the SAA.

On June 24, the SAA and the Tiger Forces liberated the villages of Hawsh Hammad and Jaddel and entered the village of Busra al-Harir northeast of the city of Daraa. According to pro-militant sources, this advance was supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces.

On June 25, clashes in the area continued.

It is interesting to note that on June 23 the US Embassy in Amman released a statement saying that militants in southern Syria should not count on a US military intervention in the situation in the area when they make decisions influencing their future.

US Won’t Intervene as Syria Strikes Rebels in Southwest

The US has informed the rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA) that they do not intend to intervene militarily in southwestern Syria. The Syrian government has been expected to launch an offensive against rebels in the area soon.

Though the rebel groups are fairly small in this area, they’ve long been backed by the US. US Ambassador Nikki Haley is still railing against the planned offensive, and saying everything that happens will be Russia’s fault.

But they’re also telling the FSA that their plans and decisions should not be based on any expectation of a US military intervention on their behalf. Syrian officials haven’t said when a ground offensive will begin, but have launched airstrikes, backed by Russian warplanes.

The rebels around Daraa aren’t waiting for the fight, however. On Saturday, al-Qaeda’s Nusra Front launched an attack against the Syrian 9th Tank Battalion in the south. Five soldiers were killed and 19 wounded.

Ben Rhodes Admits Obama Armed Jihadists In Syria In Bombshell Interview

In spite of Rhodes trying to dance around the issue, he sheepishly answers in the affirmative when Mehdi Hasan asks the following question about supporting jihadists in Syria:

Did you intervene too much in Syria? Because the CIA spent hundreds of millions of dollars funding and arming anti-Assad rebels, a lot of those arms, as you know, ended up in the hands of jihadist groups, some even in the hands of ISIS.

Your critics would say you exacerbated that proxy war in Syria; you prolonged the conflict in Syria; you ended up bolstering jihadists.

Rhodes initially rambles about his book and "second guessing" Syria policy in avoidance of the question. But Hasan pulls him back with the following: "Oh, come on, but you were coordinating a lot of their arms."

Israel Fires Patriot Missile at Drone in Syria

The Israel Defense Forces reported that they had fired a Patriot missile into Syrian airspace, targeting a drone approaching from Syria.

"We will not allow violation of our aerial sovereignty," the IDF stated.

According to Haaretz newspaper, prior to the launch, residents of the Upper Galilee in northern Israel witnessed an explosion and a smoke trail they had supposedly seen in the sky.

"A Patriot missile was launched at an unmanned aerial vehicle approaching from Syria. The drone turned away from the border as a result without being hit," the IDF said in a press release.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When you compare the cost of a Patriot missile to the cost of the drone (which they did not even hit), you will see this was clearly a loss for Israel.

U.S. Double Standards in the Middle East. Washington Backs Terrorists and Extremists

of the USA.

This statement hasn’t appeared recently. In 2002, the Joint Resolution to authorize U.S. military actions against Iraq cited:

“Iraq continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability posed a threat to the national security of the United States.”

Before carrying out air strikes on Syria, 14 April, 2018, the White House used the same justifications. The American president acted within his legal authority as commander-in-chief “to protect vital national interests – stopping the spread of chemical weapons and preventing a humanitarian catastrophe.” However, if in 2002, the Iraq Resolution was passed by the U.S. Congress as public law No: 107-243, this time President Trump didn’t seek any authorization from other government institutions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The ultimate goal here, by the US government, is quite simple, no matter how much carnage it creates to reach the following goals; control all oil, and other resources in the Middle East, and insure that these resources, are only sold in US dollars.

Iraqi Hashd al-Sha’abi pledges 'suitable' response to deadly Syria strike

The Iraqi voluntary and pro-government Popular Mobilization Units have pledged to get revenge for a deadly air raid on their fellow fighters in Syria’s eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr earlier this week, blaming the United States or Israel for the attack.

Hezbollah Brigades spokesman Jaafar al-Husseini said it was still too early to say definitively whose forces carried out the late Sunday strike against the border town of al-Hari near the frontier with Iraq but insisted it “could only have been” the Americans or Israelis.

“When it becomes known who was responsible then there will be an appropriate response and the hand of the resistance will strike anywhere,” Husseini said during a memorial ceremony for the fallen fighters at a mosque in Baghdad.

Both the Syrian government and Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units – commonly known by the Arabic name Hashd al-Sha’abi, initially pinned the blame on the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.

Syrian government forces besiege US base in al-Tanf

Syrian government forces have reportedly encircled a US military base at the al-Tanf border crossing with Jordan, after recapturing large parts of the Badiya region from Daesh.

As part of an anti-terror operation that was launched from the Hamimeh region in southern Aleppo and the second and third oil pumping stations in Badiya a few days ago, Syrian forces and allied popular fighters liberated an area that ran 45 kilometers wide and 60 kilometers deep towards the border with Iraq. The area includes the city of Abu Kamal and US base of al-Tanf, sources on the field reported Friday.

The US is believed to be regularly training terrorists at the base.

Washington described the area, which lies at the ultra-strategic intersection of the Syrian, Iraqi, and Jordanian borders, as its “red line.”

The US has unilaterally declared a 55-kilometer red zone around the base, and threatened to target Syrian forces within the area.

Syria - Damascus And Its Allies Prepare To Remove U.S. Forces From Al-Tanf

On June 8 we asked if the then ongoing ISIS attack on Albu Kamal was part of a U.S. plan:

There is sneaking suspicion that the U.S. directed the ongoing ISIS attack on Abu Kamal to gain control over the crossing and to disable road supplies from Iran through Iraq into Syria.

The U.S. must be given no chance to use the ISIS pretext to take Abu Kamal. The Syrian government must rush to support its forces in the border city. It must immediately request that Iraqi forces cross the border from Al-Qaim and support the endangered Syrian troops.

Some reinforcement came in and Albu Kamal was soon back in Syrian government hands. The Syrian army also launched an operation to destroy ISIS positions in southeastern desert.

At least eight people were killed and many others were wounded on Thursday in a series of airstrikes by the US-led international coalition in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province, Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported.

According to SANA, the coalition airstrikes targeted the village of al-Sha'afa and destroyed a number of houses and infrastructure in addition to civilian casualties.

On Monday, The US-led coalition reportedly hit the positions of the Syrian Armed Forces in Al Bukamal area of the eastern Syrian Deir ez-Zor province, killing several Syrian servicemen and injuring others.

Last night, the US-led coalition bombed positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) around the area of At Tanf in eastern Syria, according to pro-government sources. Two soldiers were reportedly killed. Pro-militant and pro-US sources claim that some unidentified force attacked a US patrol and the coalition responded.

If all these claims are confirmed, this development will mark start of another round of escalation over the US-occupied area of At-Tanf.

On June 21, the Syrian military deployed BM-30 Smerch and BM-27 Uragan heavy multiple rocket launchers along with several launchers of OTR-21 Tochka missiles in the province of Daraa.

The Entire Western World Lives In Cognitive Dissonance

Millions of people have been separated from families by death inflicted by Washington, and for almost two decades protests have been almost nonexistent. No public outcry stopped George W. Bush, Obama, and Trump from clear and indisputable illegal acts defined in international law established by the US itself as war crimes against the inhabitants of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. We can add to this an eighth example: The military attacks by the US armed and supported neo-Nazi puppet state of Ukraine against the breakaway Russian provinces.

The massive deaths, destruction of towns, cities, infrastructure, the maiming, physical and mental, the dislocation that has sent millions of refugees fleeing Washington’s wars to overrun Europe, where governments consist of a collection of idiot stooges who supported Washington’s massive war crimes in the Middle East and North Africa, produced no outcry comparable to Trump’s immigration policy.

US-led airstrike ‘kills 8 people’ in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor – state media

At least eight people have been killed in Syria following an airstrike by the US-led coalition in Deir ez-Zor province, according to state-run television.

The airstrike, which targeted the village of al-Shaafa, also destroyed a number of houses, as well as infrastructure, according to SANA.

It comes as the US State Department said it was "deeply troubled by reports of increasing Syrian regime operations" in southwestern Syria on Thursday, after the government moved to regain control of rebel-held areas.

Washington said it would take "firm and appropriate measures" in response to what it believes are government violations of the de-escalation deal it brokered with Russia last year to contain the conflict in the southwestern part of the country.

Massive Battle For Southwest Syria Could Trigger US-Israeli Intervention

The long awaited battle for Daraa has begun despite repeated warnings issued to the Syrian government from the US not to extend its military campaign to the country's south, where the conflict first began with fierce anti-Assad protests in 2011 and then quickly spiraled into violence.

Fighting began Tuesday night as the army's elite Tiger forces assaulted an air base in northeast Daraa which had been under jihadist control — namely the US-backed FSA "Southern Front" group and allied Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (formerly Nusrah, al-Qaeda). After liberating the base government forces are now pounding opposition controlled towns with artillery fire which have for years been a hotbed of the al-Qaeda and ISIS terror insurgency.

Syrian Army Steps Up Offensive in Southwest - Reports

Syrian Army activity has increased significantly in the nation’s southwestern region, where rebel-controlled areas border Jordan and the disputed area of Golan Heights.

Syrian Army has started shelling of the town of Kafr Shams Wednesday, a frontline town between government-controlled territory and land occupied by militants, Haaretz reported the same day, citing sources in the opposition.

According to, a layer of militant-controlled territory separates Syrian government from the Golan Heights, a disputed area between Damascus and Israel.

Fighters of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces have liberated the villages of Musaykah and al-Dallafa from militant groups in northeastern Daraa. Thus, they de-facto besieged the militant-held are of al-Lajat and cut off supply lines to it.

According to pro-militant sources, at least 7 government fighters were killed and a vehicle and a battle tank were destroyed in the clashes.

On June 19, units of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) attacked an SAA position in the area of al-Fukharah in northern Latakia. Nine soldiers and officers of the SAA were killed.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other militant groups continue to undermine a de-escalation zones agreement reached by Turkey, Iran and Russia in the Astana format. The further escalation of actions by militants in northern Latakia, southern Idlib and western Aleppo may force the SAA and its allies to implement a military option to put an end to these attacks.

Weapons of Mass Migration

In Goodbye Europe? Hello, Chaos? – Merkel’s Migrant Bomb, Michael Springmann analyzes evidence suggesting that US intelligence may be organizing the mass migration of millions of refugees as a form of asymmetric warfare.

Springmann also quotes anonymous intelligence sources who claim the mass migration into Europe is being coordinated by the US National Intelligence Council (NIC), MI6 (Britain’s secret intelligence service) and Turkish secret services, with financing from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states. He also alleges routine collaboration between CIA case officers and human rights and pro-migrant groups to pay off people smugglers.

I have often wondered how hundreds of thousands of unskilled workers from a broken Syrian economy could come up with the $5,000-10,000 smugglers charge to ferry migrants across the Mediterranean.

On June 19, units of government forces attacked positions of militant groups near the village of Buser al-Harir northeast of the southern Syrian city of Daraa. Sporadic clashes in the area continued on June 20 but no major advance was carried out by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.

Pro-government sources described this development as a trial balloon ahead of possible advance in the area.

If the SAA establishes control of Duweiri al-Harran and Melihit al-Atash, it will encircle a number of militant held villages south of these two points creating a “cauldron”, which would be cut off from the rest of the militant-held area.

Meanwhile, military equipment, including artillery and battle tanks, of the Syrian military continued to enter the province of Daraa.

Is Israel now seeking US recognition of its occupation of Syria’s Golan?

After Donald Trump’s recognition of the illegal Israeli annexation of Jerusalem by moving his country’s embassy to the city, the next prize that some in American and Israeli political echelons want him to hand to Israel seems to be a chunk of Syria. Senator Ted Cruz – the religious extremist who was Trump’s closest opponent in the Republican primaries – pushed forward efforts in the US Congress this month which could lead to formal recognition of the illegally-occupied Syrian Golan Heights as Israeli territory.

The Golan Heights is a region of south-west Syria which has mostly been under illegal Israeli occupation for 51 years. In 1967, at the same time that Israel brutally invaded and occupied the remaining parts of Palestine — the West Bank and Gaza Strip — it also invaded Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula and Syria’s Golan Heights.

A day after a mysterious airstrike close to the Iraq-Syria border reportedly killed over 30 Syrian government soldiers and Iraqi paramilitary forces backed by Iran, a US official has told CNN the attack was carried out by Israel and not by the US coalition.

Syrian state media blamed the strike on the US-led coalition — though in the immediate aftermath any level of confirmation or evidence was hard to come by. The claims prompted the US coalition spokesman to issue a formal denial, calling Syria's accusation "misinformation" as US-backed SDF forces are only operating east of the Euphrates, and not near Abu Kamal, which lies west, according to the statement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that Israel is, once again, playing picador with Al Assad and Putin, in essence, daring them to go after an Israeli strike plane, to "justify" a massive attack against Syrian, Iraqi, and Iranian forces there, as their way of accomplishing regime change in Damascus.

Fortunately, Al Assad and Putin have had the horse-sense not to respond to these attacks.
