Tories plan to cut tax for millionaires further - while average families are £1,100 worse off

George Osborne’s tax giveaway for millionaires has saved them an astonishing £85,000 each – while the average family has been left £1,100 a year worse off.

The out-of-touch Chancellor’s decision to slash the top rate of tax from 50p to 45p since 2013 means high-rollers on seven-figure salaries have seen their take-home pay swell.

But Labour analysis of figures from the HMRC shows changes in a series of areas since 2010 mean the average household in Britain is now almost £100 worse off every month.

A Minute with Federal Counsel in Meyer v. U.S. Bank. Bankruptcy/Foreclosure Appeal

Friday, April 3, 2015

A KingCast/Mortgage Movies Minute with Federal Counsel in Meyer v. U.S. Bank.

U.S. Bank et al. got smacked in the Bankruptcy Court and now appeals. Plaintiff/Appellee Attorney Richard Jones asks "If I provide documents to this Court which contained material misrepresentations, would this Court let me off the hook?"

Judge Martinez:
"At what point does the Magistrate have an affirmative duty to investigate the veracity of these documents that are put before it?"

Richard Jones, Esq.:"Under the Deed of Trust Act strict compliance is required. Substantial compliance is insufficient. The problem Judge Overstreet was facing is NWTS did not even have procedure to investigate. That is material and goes to the Public Impact -- they were flying blind" (as admitted by Jeff Stenman -- see Ha Dao Jeff Stenman videos at Affordable Video Depo).

More Unofficial Capital Controls: PFIC Rules

By Nick Giambruno, Senior Editor
Casey Research

It ranks at the very top of potential tax nightmares, especially if you invest internationally.

This nightmare could become a reality if you happen to invest in what the IRS deems a Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC), which are taxed at exorbitant rates and have highly complex reporting rules. Most foreign mutual funds are PFICs, as are certain foreign stocks.

It’s not illegal to invest in a PFIC, but practically speaking, the costs of doing it are so incredibly onerous that it’s prohibitively expensive in the vast majority of cases.

PFIC rules amount to unofficial restrictions on investing in certain foreign assets and are yet another indicator of the disturbing trend of creeping capital controls in the US...

IRS chief to GOP: You can't abolish us

The IRS commissioner on Tuesday brushed aside GOP proposals to abolish his agency, insisting the U.S. would have to have a tax collector one way or another.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The arrogance is staggering. First off, the Constitution bans non-apportioned direct taxation on the people, and that provision has never been repealed. Awareness that the 16th Amendment was not actually ratified is starting to gain traction among a population now aware that the government lies about everything! When this nation was founded, taxes were collected from businesses, tariffs, and import duties, which did not require a massive bureaucracy prying into the lives of every citizen.

Yes, the IRS can be abolished (along with the personal income tax).

IRS plan to require tax forms for wins of $600

Casino operators in South Mississippi are coming out against an IRS proposal that would require players to file tax forms any time they win $600 or more on slot machines, keno or bingo.

Israel to resume tax revenue transfers to the Palestinian Authority

After months of freezing tax revenue transfers as punishment for the Palestinian Authority's application to the Rome Statute, Israel announced on Friday that it will release the money to the interim government in Ramallah.

The announcement was made in a press release by the Prime Minister's Office just before sundown Friday.

This past January, Israel froze the transfer of some NIS 500 million in tax collections to the Palestinian Authority.

The move came as a protest of the formal application for membership of the International Criminal Court that was filed on Friday on behalf of the “State of Palestine.”

Bizarre Federal Ultimatum Could Land Innocent Woman Behind Bars

Doreen Hendrickson is a mild-mannered and demure mother of two. She seems more like someone you would see at a church picnic rather than in a jail house.

Thanks to the dirty tricks and heavy hands of the authoritarian federal government, she may be incarcerated very soon. Denied her basic rights in the court of law, Doreen Hendrickson was convicted of contempt of court on July 25, 2014.

Her tale is certainly unusual.

Doreen Hendrickson, along with her husband Pete, are libertarian activists who file tax returns in an unconventional way and encourage others to do the same. Because of this, Doreen was charged by the federal government with defying two court orders.

Dem senators warn Obamacare rule 'particularly harmful and disruptive'

Six Democratic senators and one independent have asked the Department of Health and Human Services to a delay a new rule that would likely force small businesses to pay more for employee health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. The senators warn that if the administration goes ahead with the change it would be "particularly harmful and disruptive" to small businesses.

Starting in 2016, the Obamacare change will require businesses that employ between 51-100 people to purchase insurance in what the government defines as the "small group market," rather than the market for large group plans. The senators warn that the change will inflate health care costs for those businesses.

George Osborne’s Budget will threaten workers' retirement funds with 55% stealth tax

Analysts say proposals in Chancellor George Osborne’s Budget will hit not just the rich, but also those on more modest incomes.

Mr Osborne claimed a move to lower the “lifetime allowance” – the maximum that can be saved into a pension pot before a 55 per cent penal tax kicks in – from £1.25million to £1million, would affect “fewer than four per cent” of people. But experts argue that the allowance has now almost halved from £1.8million since 2010 and the tax will hit older savers who have built up their pension pots over many years.

Greg Kingston, of Suffolk Life, part of Legal & General, said: “Even a 21-year-old on the forthcoming higher minimum wage of £6.70 per hour who works a 35-hour week and puts 20 per cent of their earnings into a pension, by the time they are 67, could easily have reached this limit.”

Stephen King: Maine governor should 'man up and apologize'

Stephen King says Maine Gov. Paul LePage should "man up and apologize" after the governor claimed the author has moved away and doesn't pay income taxes in Maine.

LePage used his radio address this week to make his case for eliminating Maine's income tax. He said states without an income tax, such as Florida, have lured away Maine residents, including King.

King spends winters in Florida but told the Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1Bb7e3i ) on Friday that he and his wife paid about $1.4 million in Maine state taxes in 2013 and figured it was about the same for 2014.

King says his foundation also gives $3 to $5 million grants annually, mostly in Maine.

That’s not likely to happen here, but it’s what the U.K. is shooting for as Britain plans to push forward a new system in which very few, if any, of the isles’ 30 million or so income-tax payers would have to file a complex annual return. In its budget plan recently submitted to Parliament, the nation’s ruling Conservative Party is looking to essentially eliminate tax returns within the next half-decade.

EU calls for tracking computers in all vehicles to monitor, regulate travel

The controlling surveillance state is deepening, prying further into people's lives like a chisel carving its way through skin and bone. Governments have become opportunistic control freaks, centralizing their micromanagement powers whenever possible. Now the European Union is rolling out plans to monitor travel on all European roads, tracking drivers' mileages and time traveled per vehicle. This controlling scheme is not for surveillance alone; it's essentially a plan to tax every driver for the for the distance they travel on European roads.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of course, people in Europe (and the US) are already taxed for the miles they drive with taxes on gasoline and tires. The more you drive the more you pay in those existing taxes. Adding another mileage tax (along with more surveillance) means people will be less likely to go shopping, or go to a restaurant, or theater, or sporting event, or tourist destination, meaning more of those businesses will be shut down. In the long term, adding more taxes will mean less tax revenue overall.

‘Idle Car’ Bill in NY Pays Citizens to Record, Snitch on Drivers

(Truthstream Media.com) Environmental offenses are carrying increasingly heavy prices, as the 21st Century tends towards tightly controlled urban living.

Cities like New York are now closely monitoring the impact of human activity and assessing new fines and fees for excess. Take a new bill to regulate “idle cars,” an issue that NY Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal says “is a real environmental problem and a real public health problem” that contributes to pollution death, but is little enforced.

Rosenthal’s bill would increase fines for idling to up to $1500 for a first offense and $2000 for a second offense, while offering a cut of the money to resident snitches who record video of the offending vehicles and turn in their idling neighbors.

The Punishment for Ignoring Obamacare Penalty Might Surprise You

Now that April 15th is on the horizon, many taxpayers are bracing themselves for the inevitable penalty that will hit them if they don’t sign up for Obamacare. It’s estimated that at least 3 million households may have to pony up 1% of their income, or $95 per adult, if they don’t have insurance; a number which is poised to expand to 2.5% for the 2016 tax year.

However, for all its bluster and intimidating language, the Affordable Care Act might not have any teeth. Recently, a tax expert writing for Forbes noticed that Obamacare, while far-reaching and burdensome in terms of what it demands from the American people, offers little to no repercussion for anyone who would be tempted to avoid it.

White House Economic Report Calls for Cutting Corporate Taxes

On Thursday, the White House released its “2015 Economic Report of the President,” presenting it as an argument for “middle-class economics.”

The document seeks to justify Obama’s scheme, spelled out in his most recent budget proposal, to slash corporate taxes by up to ten percentage points. The report attempts to obscure the fact that such a windfall for the corporate-financial elite will dramatically increase social inequality, claiming instead that it will “increase productivity, output and living standards.”

The document falsifies both present economic reality and the development of the US economy in the post-World War II period in order to argue for further pro-corporate “reforms.”

White House Overhypes Obamacare Enrollment, Again

Yesterday evening, not long after the official (but not actual) end of Obamacare’s open enrollment period, the White House Twitter feed posted some breaking news: “About 11.4 million Americans are signed up for private health coverage,” the tweet said, posting the information with the hashtag #ACAWorks.

It is in some ways remarkable that the White House can provide this information so quickly. Not because the information should be hard to collect, but because other similar information often eludes the administration.

As Bloomberg News health care reporter Alex Wayne noted on Twitter earlier today during a Q&A session with Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Matthews Burwell, the administration "still can’t tell us how many people were enrolled in Obamacare at the end of 2014."

The Breaking HSBC Scandal Reveals UK Govt Is Chief Henchman Of The Mafia Banking System

An international collaboration of media outlets have leaked HSBC files which prove the Bank has actively sought to undermine domestic tax laws by hiding more than $100bn in Swiss bank accounts – but what is truly remarkable, it the complicity of the UK government in helping the 1% avoid paying their dues.

Sicilian mafia families have a position in their criminal organisation called the ‘consigliere’. A consigliere is an adviser or counselor to the boss, with the additional responsibility of representing the boss in important meetings both within the boss’s crime family and with other crime families. The consigliere is a close, trusted friend and confidant.

The relationship between the UK government, the HMRC and the banking sector appears to be one of consigliere – with the former providing advice and representation services for the latter, against the interests of the public.

Cameron 'up to his neck' in HSBC tax row after revelations a string of Tory donors held Swiss bank accounts

David Cameron was accused of being 'up to his neck' in the Swiss bank account row today, after revelations that a string of Tory donors hoarded money in the country.

Former Conservative Party Treasurer Stanley Fink and German-born car manufacturing heir Georg von Opel, who has donated six-figure sums to the Tories, are among a host of individuals who legally held accounts in Switzerland with HSBC's private bank, according to a leaked tax disc.

In a fiery Commons debate, the Prime Minister insisted 'no-one had done more' than the current government to crack down on tax avoidance.

‘Politicians can't be trusted to clean up HSBC’: Govt revenue chiefs grilled over tax evasion scandal

Top UK tax officials were probed by MPs on Wednesday over the recent tax evasion scandal that has engulfed British banking giant HSBC. Labour MP Austin Mitchel said Britain’s tax avoidance industry has eclipsed its tax collection industry.

Amid global controversy over HSBC's alleged involvement in industrial scale tax evasion, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) was questioned by Britain’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

On Sunday, it emerged HSBC's Swiss private banking arm had aided royalty, criminals, terrorists, and drug dealers in dodging taxes.

A colossal cache of files leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) shed light on the banking giant's clandestine practices between 2005 and 2007. During this period, HSBC's Swiss private banking arm controlled roughly $100 billion in assets.

Files disclosing the bank’s suspect actions were leaked to HMRC in 2010.

Obama slams Staples, corporations for Obamacare-tied cuts: ‘Shame on them’

President Obama didn’t take kindly to Staples executives who slashed worker hours due to what they said was the need to curtail expense related to Obamacare, saying such corporations can “well afford” to pay.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, we CAN'T! American businesses were already hovering at the edge of collapse before ACA and the higher costs will and are driving many of them over that edge into bankruptcy and closure. Add the the fact that the Obamacare-compliant health insurance isn't worth the paper it is on which means Americans who have been forced to buy those policies are being driven into bankruptcy by the unpaid portions of their medical bills!

Washington DC and Wall Street are still laboring under the delusion that there is still vast amounts of wealth out here in the heartland and all they have to do is figure out how to scam it out of us all. But the well is dry, the barn is empty, the cookie jar has no more to give.

IRS Drops Attack For Six Years – No Evidence of Jurisdiction

As you can see, they dropped the attack based on the information we provided. All we provided was the “IRS” has no evidence to support their argument the constitution and code applied and there was jurisdiction. We never disputed the asserted financial information. The attacks were dropped despite the financial reports provided under threat, duress and coercion. It was thrown out for a lack of evidence proving jurisdiction. That is significant.

This doesn’t mean they always do the right thing, it doesn’t mean if you do the same thing and get the same admissions, then they will also drop their attack. They are criminals. They force people to give them money; they take what they think they are entitled to, and they are very willing to terrorize your friends, family and business associates into compliance to their whims.

The IRS rehired hundreds of employees who had previous records of bad performance at the agency, including 141 former employees who had botched their own tax returns, and others who had used their positions to peek at private tax information, the agency’s inspector general said in a report released Thursday.

Russell George said. Of the employees with prior problems, nearly 20 percent of them had more problems after they got re-hired.

Amnesty bonanza: IRS to give illegal aliens bigger tax refunds than citizens

The Obama administration will make this year's tax season more painful for some American citizens but it will be a bonanza for illegal aliens who not only broke laws sneaking into the country but also worked illegally, at least until President Barack Obama gave them special exemptions from immigration law by executive fiat. According to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) top administrator on Tuesday, illegal aliens will receive refunds that are up to twice the amount citizens will get, a literal monetary bonanza.

The Parasite Economy

Politicians and lawyers pretend that they are important people doing important work. But often they're important because they are parasites. They feed off others, while creating no wealth of their own.

IRS offers extra tax refunds to illegal immigrants granted amnesty by Obama

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen confirmed Tuesday that illegal immigrants granted amnesty from deportation under President Obama’s new policies would be able to get extra refunds from the IRS for money they earned while working illegally, as long as they filed returns during those years.

Illegal immigrants who are granted the amnesty will be given official Social Security numbers, which means they can go back and amend up to three years of previous tax forms to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, potentially claiming billions of dollars in additional payments they were ineligible for before the amnesty.

House votes to repeal, replace Obamacare

The House voted largely along party lines Tuesday to repeal and replace Obamacare, with Republicans vowing to satisfy midterm voters who demanded a new path forward while Democrats taunted their rivals as oblivious to the plight of the uninsured.

Obama Tax Plan: President Goes All In on Confiscation

His tenure has already witnessed a greater accumulation of federal debt than any other time in US history. It is unsustainable based on the nation’s taxing traditions. In recent days, however, Obama has hinted at a new paradigm in federal revenue collection: confiscation.

Last week, the White House floated a proposal to levy a one-time tax on the $2 trillion in foreign earnings American corporations have overseas. The United States imposes the highest corporate income tax rate in the world. It also, unlike every major nation, taxes profits on business activities conducted completely outside the US. In essence, the US tax code follows American citizens and corporations anywhere they travel around the world.

Obama Budget Creates Second Death Tax

Under current law, when you inherit an asset your basis in the asset is the higher of the fair market value at the time of death or the decedent's original basis. Almost always, the fair market value is higher.

Under the Obama proposal, when you inherit an asset your basis will simply be the decedent's original basis.

Example: Dad buys a house for $10,000. He dies and leaves it to you. The fair market value on the date of death is $100,000. You sell it for $120,000. Under current law, you have a capital gain of $20,000 (sales price of $120,000 less step up in basis of $100,000). Under the Obama plan, you have a capital gain of $110,000 (sales price of $120,000 less original basis of $10,000).

The White House has already granted some exemptions and is considering more to avoid a political firestorm.

Senate GOP demands Obama turn over all communications with IRS

Senate Republicans asked President Obama Thursday to turn over all communications he and his aides have had with the IRS since 2010, hoping to find out whether the tax agency shared private taxpayer information with political operatives at the White House.

The request, made in a letter obtained by The Washington Times, is signed by new Finance Chairman Orrin G. Hatch and all 13 other Republicans on the committee, and is addressed specifically to Mr. Obama, saying they want to see if his employees broke the law by acquiring or sharing private information.
