Amazon paid just £15m in tax on European revenues of £19.5bn

Amazon paid just €16.5m (£15m) in tax on European revenues of €21.6bn (£19.5bn) reported through Luxembourg in 2016.

The figures, published in Amazon’s latest annual accounts for its European online retail business, are likely to reignite the debate about US tech companies using complex crossborder arrangements to minimise the tax they pay across the continent.

Separately, Amazon UK Services – the company’s warehouse and logistics operation that employs almost two-thirds of its 24,000 UK staff – more than halved its declared UK corporation tax bill from £15.8m to £7.4m year-on-year in 2016.

The cut came despite turnover at the UK business, which handles the packing and delivery of parcels and functions such as customer service, rising from £946m to £1.46bn.

Death Spiral: 6.5 Million People Choose To Pay Tax Rather Than Buy Obamacare

For those who still aren't convinced that Obamacare is trapped in an inescapable death spiral that will inevitably end in nothing short of an epic collapse of the federal and state health insurance exchanges, perhaps you should consider the following facts from the National Review and Mark Farrah and Associates.

Farmer Heartbroken After Cop ‘Feared for His Life’ and Killed His Prize Goat

Portland, OR — Matt Minnick is a small farmer in Portland who is now very upset after a Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputy shot and killed his top breeding goat Sunday morning.

Because of the new construction by Minnick’s property, some damage was caused to a portion of his fence that his $1,200 prized New Zealand goat named Volt managed to escape through.

Volt was not some pit bull or rabid German Shepard — he was a goat.

As a friendly reminder, when children go to petting zoos, they are surrounded by these animals. There are thousands of petting zoos throughout the country at which children interact with goats on a daily basis. Amazingly enough, none of these children ‘fear for their lives’ and kill any of these goats

The IRS Scandal, Day 1552: The IRS's Email Retention Policies Still Do Not Ensure That Emails Are Retained And Produced When Requested

IRS policies do not comply with certain Federal requirements that agencies must ensure that all records are retrievable and usable for as long as needed. For example, IRS e-mail retention policies are not adequate because e-mails are not automatically archived for all IRS employees. Instead, the IRS’s current policy instructs employees to take manual actions to archive e-mails by saving them permanently on computer hard drives or network shared drives.

This policy has resulted in lost records when computer hard drives are destroyed or damaged. In addition, a recently instituted executive e-mail retention policy, which should have resulted in the archiving of e-mails from specific executives, was not implemented effectively because some executives did not turn on the automatic archiving feature.

Duterte’s ‘golden age’ of infrastructure hits the peso

Gee! Wonder who is manipulating the Peso. The NWO Boys don't like this guy.

While the peso’s dip is raising eyebrows in a region where the Thai baht and the Malaysian ringgit are flirting with multi-year highs, it’s come mainly because the Philippines, one of the world’s fastest growing economies, has been enjoying a construction boom.

Besides private construction, companies like Teravera are confident of more contracts coming from the government’s drive to upgrade its dilapidated roads, railways, ports and airports, which have been a drag on the economy.

Surprised? Massive Weed Shortage in Nevada Orchestrated by Big Alcohol

This is bizarre.

Las Vegas, NV Ever since recreational cannabis was legalized for retail sale a few weeks ago, dispensaries have had difficulty maintaining their stock and say they will run out if the broken supply chain is not fixed.

We didn't know the demand would be this intense, Al Fasano, co-founder of Las Vegas ReLeaf, told the Los Angeles Times. All of a sudden you have like a thousand people at the door! We have to tell people we are limited in our products.

TFTP spoke to a dispensary owner in Nevada who explained that there is plenty of cannabis to go around. However, thanks to the alcohol distributors who are distributing the cannabis the dispensaries have no product.

Foxconn's corporate welfare deal will cost Wisconsin taxpayers more than 3 billion dollars

The recent trumpist trumpeting about the plans of Chinese manufacturer Foxconn to open a manufacturing facility in Wisconsin omitted a few key details -- like the fact that Foxconn is being given a sweetheart tax-break that's topped up with 15 years' worth of guarantees of up to $200m/year in cash subsidies at taxpayer expense -- a record-setting taxpayer subsidy that exceeds the previous Wisconsin record-holder by a factor of fifty.

A Quick and Simple Plan For Politicians to UNFUCK AMERICA

I was recently asked by a person in the UK government to list the steps I would like to see the US government take in order to actually Make America Great Again.

It took eight years of frustration, court battles and waiting. It took the complete change of a presidential administration. And it took the persistent fighting of a top-level team of lawyers.

The US Empire, the CIA, and the NGOs

The CIA recruited the Muslim Brotherhood to fight a proxy war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, which led to the withdrawal of the Soviets from the Hindu Kush. Since then, the CIA used the mercenaries to fight more proxy wars in the Balkans, Chechnya, and Azerbaijan. Due to the wars of aggression against Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen the US and its vassal states created sectarian violence that led to civil wars. Right now, the CIA and the Muslim Brotherhood are present in the form of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

Marijuana Industry Projected To Create More Jobs Than Manufacturing By 2020

Jobs. That is what the marijuana industry hopes will keep the Trump administration from cracking down on cannabis companies.

A new report from New Frontier Data projects that by 2020 the legal cannabis market will create more than a quarter of a million jobs. This is more than the expected jobs from manufacturing, utilities or even government jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Jul 19 22:04

The Cannabis Industry Apocalypse

Here is the plan.Sessions plans to seize the assets of the big Cannabis companies and use it to bust more people.

Another important clue to their plans comes from a recent DOJ announcement that the DOJ will no longer be donating part of the proceeds that it receives from civil asset forfeitures to a variety of non-profit groups but will instead be keeping all the proceeds for itself to be used for increased staffing and greater enforcement.

In order to address the lack of budget necessary to start large scale enforcement, the Christie Plan lays out the following actions:

Issue Subpoenas to the twenty-nine states that have legalized cannabis, in any form, and demand their entire set of licensing records, for growers, dispensers, doctors, and users.
Use conventional DOJ budgets to hire new DOJ staff to fight the states that refuse to turn over their licensing records. The DOJ will sue each state, in order or revenue, for compliance.

Trump pivots from Obamacare repeal to ordering Republicans to 'let it fail'

The president spoke as a new plan to simply repeal the 2010 law with no replacement was in effect strangled at birth by a deeply divided party. This followed the withdrawal of legislation, blindsiding the president, on Monday night.

Venting his frustration, Trump said: “Let Obamacare fail and it will be a lot easier. And I think we’re probably in that position where we’ll let Obamacare fail. We’re not going to own it. I’m not going to own it. I can tell you the Republicans are not going to own it. We’ll let Obamacare fail and then the Democrats are going to come to us.”

2 more GOP senators oppose health bill, killing it for now

The latest GOP effort to repeal and replace "Obamacare" was fatally wounded in the Senate Monday night when two more Republican senators announced their opposition to legislation strongly backed by President Donald Trump.

The announcements from Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas left the Republican Party's long-promised efforts to get rid of President Barack Obama's health care legislation reeling. Next steps, if any, were not immediately clear.

Lee and Moran both said they could not support Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's legislation in its current form. They joined GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Rand Paul of Kentucky, both of whom announced their opposition right after McConnell released the bill last Thursday.

Seattle has done one thing effectively: drive out earners. Anyone making over $250,000 within city limits of Seattle is now subject to a new income tax, but the new law is likely to face a court battle over its unconstitutionality.

The cheers from the socialists as this blatant constitutional violation was on full display was possibly the most horrific part of the entire debacle. People are actually cheering and happy that the government is stealing money from those they don’t even know. It’s like humanity has never existed.

Gov. Brian Sandoval, R-Nev., issued the state of emergency on Friday, which will allow state officials to decide on new rules that could ease the shortage of marijuana, according to Fox 13 Now.

Obamacare Death Spiral: At Least 2 Million Adults Ditch Coverage In 2017 Amid Soaring Premiums

FALSE FLAG: A NEW REPORT IN SWEDEN REVEALS ERDO?AN ORCHESTRATED JULY 15 COUP IN TURKEY

Last year’s failed coup attempt in Turkey is nothing but a false flag orchestrated by Turkey’s autocratic President Recep Tayip Erdo?an and his henchmen to create a pretext for a mass persecution of critics and opponents in a state of perpetual emergency, a new detailed study titled ‘July 15: Erdo?an’s Coup’ by Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF) concluded.
Based on publicly available data, the coup indictments, testimonials in court trials, private interviews, reviews of military expert opinions and other evidence collected by researchers, SCF is fairly confident that this attempt did not even qualify a coup bid in any sense of military mobilization which was unusually limited in numbers, confined in few cities, poorly managed, defied the established practices, tradition, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures in Turkish military.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The aftermath of this "false coup" gave Erdogan the political "cover" he needed to push his hard-line, autocratic regime into full power control mode.

This was an absolute tragedy for freedom, and for the Turkish people.

Washington Has Been At War For 16 Years: Why?

Paul Craig Roberts

For sixteen years the US has been at war in the Middle East and North Africa, running up trillions of dollars in expenses, committing untold war crimes, and sending millions of war refugees to burden Europe, while simultaneously claiming that Washington cannot afford its Social Security and Medicare obligations or to fund a national health service like every civilized country has.

Considering the enormous social needs that cannot be met because of the massive cost of these orchestrated wars, one would think that the American people would be asking questions about the purpose of these wars. What is being achieved at such enormous costs? Domestic needs are neglected so that the military/security complex can grow fat on war profits.

The lack of curiousity on the part of the American people, the media, and Congress about the purpose of these wars, which have been proven to be based entirely on lies, is extraordinary.

Trump’s Chaos is Covering for Stealth Escalation Overseas by

Been trying to tell you folks. Opposition to Trump and the resulting chaos and confusion is being used to set the stage for WW3!

While Washington is fixated on President Trump’s tweets, antics, lies and Russiagate, the administration is ramping up a stealth escalation of our military involvement across the Middle East. As Naomi Klein warns, Trump’s “rolling shock of the chaos and spectacle” distracts from radical actions both at home and abroad. Across the Middle East, the administration drives the United States ever further into wars without end, increasing the dangers of direct military confrontation with Russia and Iran, with little awareness and no mandate from the American people. This is a recipe for calamity.

Trump faces growing Senate resistance on Saudi arms deal

As President Donald Trump aligns with Saudi Arabia amid a fresh dispute among Gulf nations, senators in both parties as soon as Thursday will try to block him from selling more than $500 million in offensive weapons to Riyadh.

The Senate bid to stop the Saudi arms sales — a small portion of what the White House claims will be a $110 billion package — is likely to fail. But the push to tie Trump's hands will probably find more support than a similar brushback pitch directed at President Barack Obama last year, as Democrats are far more united behind the proposal. Not only do Democrats have little reason to give Trump a win on any front, they're also stepping up their outcry over Saudi involvement in Yemen’s worsening civil war.

Study points to another advantage of the 1%: They're great at evading taxes

In his story “The Snows of Kilimanjaro,” Ernest Hemingway wrote a snappy retort to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s line about how “the very rich are different from you and me.” Yes, Hemingway’s character replies, “they have more money.”

Economist Gabriel Zucman of UC Berkeley and two colleagues add a gloss to this exchange in a new paper. The very rich also are vastly better than you and me at evading taxes, they conclude — so much better that global statistics may understate the scale of wealth inequality by as much as 25%.

“Tax evasion is really concentrated at the top of the income distribution,” Zucman told me.
