Will War Derail Trump's Reelection?

Yesterday, U.S. F-15s, in five attacks, hit munitions depots and a command center of the Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia in Syria and Iraq, a retaliatory raid for a rocket attack on a U.S. training camp that killed an American contractor and wounded four U.S. soldiers.

“For those who ask about the response,” warns a Kataib Hezbollah spokesman, “it will be the size of our faith.” One has to expect Iran and its militia in Iraq to respond in kind.

The Madness of the Military Mindset

I find in existence a new and heretofore unknown and dangerous concept that the members of the armed forces owe their primary allegiance and loyalty to those who temporarily exercise the authority of the executive branch of the Government, rather than to the country and its Constitution they are sworn to defend. No proposition could be more dangerous. ~ General Douglas MacArthur

Did Pompeo Go Off Reservation in Iraq Attack?

I have to wonder who Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is actually loyal to. Because, the U.S. strike of Kata’ib Hizbullah forces near the Al Qaim border crossing with Syria in Iraq is a dangerous escalation there.

And it’s completely at odds with Trump’s goals of wanting us out of the Middle East. The Al Qaim border crossing is a particular red line for Israel and their allies in the U.S. State and Defense Departments.

National Security Council condemns US air strikes as violation of Iraqi sovereignty

The National Security Council held an emergency meeting in Baghdad to discuss the US air strikes against Iraqi forces belonging to Popular Mobilization Units on the Iraqi-Syrian border and the repercussions of this attack.

Following the meeting, the Council said in a statement: “The Iraqi Government condemns this act and considers it a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. This is a serious violation of the rules of engagement of the Coalition forces, including the US forces, in carrying out operations without the approval of the Iraqi Government.”

It added: “This operation targeted Iraqi forces holding a significant front on the border [with Syria] against Daesh terrorists. This endangers the security and sovereignty of Iraq and threatens the security of all.”

US Uses False Flag Op to Legitimize Bombing Iraq, Syria

On Friday, 27 December, one or more rockets were fired at an Iraqi base in Kirkuk, which hosts “Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) coalition forces,” reportedly killing one “U.S. citizen [contractor] and [which reportedly] injured four U.S. service members and two members of the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF).” Though not even ISIS claimed responsibility, the US declared the Iraqi Hezb Allah group and Iran’s Quds Forces — because of “linkage” –culpable.”

The US has continuously said blatantly earlier that it doesn’t want any Iraqi forces near the borders with Syria, in a clear signal to allow ISIS to resurface in that vital Tehran – Baghdad – Damascus Highway.

Sanctioning The Butterflies

This picture shows an Iranian child with the rare EB skin disease. Often known as butterfly children because their skin is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly, EB patients are some of the victims of US sanctions on Iran.

The Trump administration has so far sanctioned approximately 1,000 individuals and entities as part of its campaign against Iran, CNBC on Monday quoted what it called another senior State Department official as saying.

“What we are doing is denying the regime the revenue that it needs to run an expansionist foreign policy, and by that policy, Iran has less money to spend today than it did almost three years ago when we came into office,” the official reportedly said.

Washington claims the sanctions target the government, but ordinary Iranians are the ones who suffer the most.

Iran denies involvement in attack on U.S. forces in Iraq

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Monday denied involvement in recent deadly attack on the U.S. forces in Iraq, Press TV reported.

The Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiee said that "we strongly deny any role in attacks on the U.S. forces" in Iraq.

"This unsubstantiated U.S. claim cannot justify the bombing and killing of people in violation of international regulations," Rabiee was quoted as saying.

AZIZABAD, Afghanistan – Once the Americans left, the survivors started digging.

There were too many dead and not enough shovels, so a local politician brought in heavy machinery from a nearby construction site. He dug graves deep enough to fit mothers with children, or children with children. Iraq says strikes a 'sinful violation' of sovereignty

Why I Don’t Criticize Russia, China, Or Other Unabsorbed Governments

By Caitlin Johnstone

Depending on whose political echo chamber I happen to be arguing with on a given day, one common criticism I run into a fair bit which many of my readers have surely also encountered is that I put all my energy into criticizing the foreign policy of the United States and its allies.

“You’re not anti-war, you’re only anti-AMERICAN wars!” they say, as though they’re delivering some kind of devastating slam-dunk point. “If you’re so antiwar, why don’t you criticize Assad’s war in Syria? If you’re such an anti-imperialist, show me where you’ve ever once criticized Russian imperialism, or Chinese imperialism?”

72 Killed Resisting Gun Confiscation in Boston

Boston – National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.

Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.

2019: A disastrous year for Trump’s foreign policy

Twenty-nineteen could best be described as a year when Donald Trump’s foreign policy unraveled on so many fronts. It became ever more erratic, one-sided and personalized, changing with the US president’s mood swings. The crisis, as many would call it, has been a long time in the making, and the implications will surely cast a long shadow over the new decade.

Trump, a self-proclaimed deal maker, is floundering as much internationally as he is domestically. The US, on his watch, arguably has less leverage with its allies than it has had at any time in modern history. Trump’s foreign policies—from the Middle East and North Korea to Venezuela— have largely failed

"With these attacks, America has shown its firm support for terrorism and its disregard for the independence and sovereignty of countries and it must accept responsibility for the consequences of its illegal act," he said.

In a statement on Monday, Iraq's popular Hashd al-Sha'abi said the death toll from the US airstrikes had risen to 25, vowing to avenge the “aggression of evil American ravens.”

In a short statement, Kata’ib Hezbollah described the attacks as “disregard and humiliation for the sovereignty and honor of the Iraqi nation”.

The attacks targeted “our sons which were defending our country’s western borders,” the statement said, calling on the country’s security forces to “prepare for a new page” of “honor and dignity” in dislodging US forces from the country.

Iraq’s Asaib Ahl al-Haq group, which is part of the PMU, also issued a statement calling for all of the country’s political factions to respond to Washington’s “cowardly attack”.

“Today, ending US military presence in Iraq is essential by all means necessary before it lasts any longer,” the statement read.

The air raids were welcomed by Israel’s foreign minister, Yisrael Katz, who described the event as a “turning point in the regional response to Iran and its proxies”.

US Middle East Forever Wars

On Sunday, US warplanes terror-bombed sites in Iraq and Syria. It followed a rocket attack, killing a US private military contractor on a base where Pentagon troops are based near Kirkuk, Iraq, wounding US military personnel.

Iran had nothing to do with what happened. The US blamed Iraqi militants falsely linked to Iran.

In mid-December, Pompeo falsely blamed Iran for earlier rocket attacks on Pentagon bases in Iraq, threatening retaliation if US personnel and allies are killed or injured.

No evidence links Iran to hostile regional actions — US, NATO, Israeli, Saudi, UAE specialties, along with terrorist proxies they support.

After U.S. Strike On Iraqi Forces Its Troops Will (Again) Have To Leave

Within Syria @WithinSyriaBlog - 17:43 UTC · Dec 29, 2019
Trump just made the mistake of his presidency.

That may be true or may be not true. Here is what happened.

On Friday a volley of some 30 107mm Katyusha rockets hit the K1 base which houses Iraqi and U.S. troops near Kirkuk, Iraq. One U.S. mercenary/contractor died, two Iraqi and four U.S. soldiers were wounded. Instead of finding the real culprits - ISIS remnants, disgruntled locals, Kurds who want to regain control over Kirkuk - the U.S. decided that Kata'ib Hizbullah was the group guilty of the attack.

The strikes were in total disregard of Iraqi sovereignty and against forces under direct command of the Iraqi state:The strikes were designed to kill those who still fight ISIS in its most virulent hide outs:

No American alive today can believe that the men who wrote the Declaration of Independence, who acted upon it to separate the Colonies from and to conduct a long and sanguinary war against Great Britain, and who upon the strength of the Declaration then enacted constitutions for their States and the United States ever imagined that the powers to behave in the fashion of George III—powers that he had used to bring about “a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object [that] evince[d] a design to reduce [Americans] under absolute Despotism”; and powers the very use of which justified the invocation and exercise of “the[ people’s] right, * * * their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security”—were among the “just powers” that “Governments * * * instituted among Men, deriv[e] * * * from the consent of the governed”.

Syria: Trump Administration Builds Military Base in Oil Field

The United States is building a large military base within the al-Omar oil field, in the province of Deir Ezzor, in Syria, local media reported.

“The U.S. is equipping the base to serve as the command headquarters for the international coalition’s operations,” the Syria Now portal reported.

Besides fortifying the field with logistic and military reinforcements, the U.S. Army is building airstrips for its helicopters, which will be used to monitor oil wells from the air.

According to Syrian analysts, Washington is working to find a mechanism that makes it easier to extract as much Syrian oil as quickly as possible.???????

To do so, the U.S. is moving electrical equipment to put the electricity network into operation at the oil fields, which would allow it to begin to exploit them.

A Man Died After Police Slammed His Head Into His Own Car Because They Thought He'd Stolen it

After a California cop caught up to the driver of a vehicle he believed to be stolen, he slammed the driver’s head into the car and put him in a sleeper hold. The driver died.

But the man behind the wheel, David Glen Ward, was actually the victim of a carjacking — not the perpetrator — and had reported his Honda Civic stolen to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office just days earlier, on Nov. 24. The 52-year-old had somehow recovered the vehicle, according to the Washington Post, but didn’t tell police the car was back in his possession. Ward was then driving the car home around 6 a.m. on Nov. 27 when police spotted the Honda Civic and began pursuing the vehicle, without realizing the driver was Ward.

War Criminal Trump an International Thief, Supporter of Terrorism

Trump escalated aggressive war on Syria — in its 9th year with no prospect for resolution any time soon because US hardliners reject peace and stability in the war-torn country and others Washington preemptively attacked.

Begun against Damascus by the Obama/Biden/Hillary regime, it’s all about wanting Syria transformed into a US vassal state, using ISIS and other jihadists as Pentagon/CIA foot soldiers — supported by Pentagon-led terror-bombing, responsible for massacring tens of thousands of civilians.

Israel’s longtime goal is unchallenged Middle East dominance partnered with Washington.

“We will apply disproportionate force at the heart of the enemy’s weak spot (civilians) and cause great damage and destruction.”

AFTER HAFTAR SEIZES TURKISH VESSEL, ERDOGAN DEEPENS MILITARY ROLE IN LIBYA, ANGERING RUSSIA

SOURCE: ZERO HEDGE
As we predicted the Libyan war 2.0 has spilled into the Mediterranean and now standings on the brink of becoming a major renewed international proxy conflict bringing in regional powers, especially Turkey, Egypt, and potentially Russia.

The pro-Haftar Libyan National Army (LNA), based in the war-torn country's east, announced late Saturday it seized a Turkish vessel and briefly detained several Turkish crew members while the freighter was searched for weapons. "A vessel under the flag of Grenada, with a team of Turkish citizens on board, was detained," the LNA press service said. It was seized “because it entered Libya’s territorial waters without prior permission,” the LNA spokesman added.

MI5 GIVEN THE GO-AHEAD TO ALLOW INFORMANTS TO COMMIT CRIMES

HUMAN rights campaigners today vowed to appeal against a “knife-edge” divided tribunal ruling which allowed MI5 to continue authorising informants to commit serious criminal offences.

Privacy International, Reprieve, the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) and the Pat Finucane Centre took legal action against the government over a policy the groups claim “purports to permit agents to participate in crime” potentially including murder, kidnap and torture.

The campaign groups said the policy effectively “immunises criminal conduct from prosecution” and asked the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) to declare the policy unlawful and grant an injunction to restrain further conduct.

But the tribunal today ruled the policy lawful by a 3-2 majority.

Reprieve director Maya Foa said: “The IPT’s knife-edge judgment, with unprecedented published dissenting opinions, shows just how dubious the government’s secret policy is.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight: UK intelligence agents are now formally authorized to commit torture, if they deem it necessary to extract life-saving information, and there will be no lawful repercussions for having done this.

I have to wonder just how far they are going to have to "grandfather" this protection in for people in intelligence work, who have already been accused of this kind of behaviour.

But the big, ugly question here is timing; why now?!?

What sort of "horrible, hideous international incident" is the British and/or US going to throw at us this time, to distract us from what is going and for when is this being planned?!?

I would politely suggest, that the timing of this ruling is anything but accidental.

This Texan Fighting with the Ukraine Rebels Thinks the West Will Force a Big Confrontation in April

First, I do not think Putin and Russia will abandon the Republics. It would be cowardly, unprincipled and futile to do so, and these are adjectives that simply do not apply to Putin or to Russia.

And Putin has also said, and I quote, "I learned on the streets of Leningrad as a kid, if a fight is inevitable, it is better to hit first." I am quite certain that Vladimir Putin will stand by his words, by his promises and his principles, and the Russian People will back him 100%.

Putin has promised that if Russia is attacked, he will destroy the places the attacks come from, and also the places where the orders for the attacks come from. And Vladimir Putin don't lie.

If you allow your corrupt and bloodthirsty rulers to attack us, understand that we will hit back, hard, where you live, and understand that you will have it coming.

Otherwise, your masters will proceed with this diabolical scheme and the whole world may well come crashing down around your heads.

The US-NATO-Israel Sponsored Al Qaeda Insurgency in Syria. Who Was Behind the 2011 “Protest Movement”?

Almost nine years since the beginning of the war on Syria in March 2011, so-called “progressives” have supported the so-called “opposition”, which is largely made up of Al Qaeda affiliated mercenaries. A US-NATO led war of aggression is portrayed as a “civil war”.

President Bashar Al Assad is casually described as a dictator who is killing his own people. The millions of deaths resulting from US-NATO led wars are not an object of concern.

The anti-war movement died in the wake of the Iraq war (April 2003). Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and counterterrorism prevail.

The war on Syria started more than nine years ago in Daraa on the 17th of March 2011.

The following article first published in May 2011 examines the inception of the jihadist terrorist insurgency.

It recounts the events of March 17-18, 2011 in Daraa, a small border town with Jordan.

The Afghanistan Fiasco and the Decline and Fall of the American Military

A devastating investigative report was published in the Washington Post on December 9th. Dubbed the “Afghanistan Papers” in a nod to the Vietnam War’s famous “Pentagon Papers,” the report relied on thousands of documents to similarly expose how the US government at the presidential level across three administrations, acting in collaboration with the military brass and civilian bureaucracy, deliberately and systematically lied repeatedly to the public and media about the situation in Afghanistan.

The story should have been featured all across the US as Afghanistan continues to kill Americans and much larger numbers of Afghans while also draining billions of dollars from the United States Treasury, but the mainstream media was largely unresponsive, preferring to cover the impeachment saga.

The CIA and Mossad created and funded ISIS, which they used to invade Syria, and then, when the jig was up and they had to pretend to be on the right side, they bombed a few Syrian cities back into the stone age, not to destroy ISIS, which fled well in advance with ample warning from their friends, but to make sure the Syrians had nothing left. Implausible Denials: The Crime at Jabal al Tharda. US-led Air Raid on Behalf of ISIS-Daesh Against Syrian Forces/By Prof. Tim Anderson Global Research, December 17, 2017

On 17 September 2016 a carefully planned US-led air raid on Jabal al Tharda (Mount Tharda), overlooking Deir Ezzor airport, slaughtered over 100 Syrian soldiers and delivered control of the mountain to DAESH / ISIS. After that surprise attack, the terrorist group held the mountain for almost a year, but did not manage to take the airport or the entire city. US-led forces admitted the attack but claimed it was all a ‘mistake’. However uncontested facts, eye witness accounts and critical circumstances show that was a lie. This article sets out the evidence of this crime, in context of Washington’s historical use of mercenaries for covert actions, linked to the doctrine of ‘plausible deniability’.

US war crimes in Iraq in general are a well-substantiated fact. Navy SEALs say they saw some “shocking” things, which other SEALs kill children with sniper rifles, spraying civilian neighborhoods with machine gun fire, etc.

Seeing such things was par for the course, in Iraq, but talking about it was another thing entirely. Several platoon members took the matter of war crimes by their platoon chief to troop commanders. They were immediately rebuked.

Not only did the commander tell them not to report the crimes to him, he warned them that talking about the war crimes at all would jeopardize their careers. War crimes are meant to be seen, but not heard about.

Three days later, Samer's lawyer was informed his client had been transferred to a hospital the previous day - in critical condition, unconscious, and on artificial respiration. He was also suffering from kidney failure and had 11 broken ribs, the lawyer said.

The Israeli Security Agency (ISA), known as Shin Bet, accused Samer of leading the group that carried out the bombing and was given legal permission to employ "extraordinary measures" in its interrogation, Israeli media reported. Amnesty International said the move "effectively sanctioned the use of methods amounting to torture".

By banning criticism of Israel, Donald Trump is officially complicit in the 9-11 murder of more than 3000 Americans.

Nationals backbencher joins Assange's father in fight to save Wikileaks founder

It’s heartening to see that two Australian Federal politicians are prepared to lead and show courage, principle and ethics regarding the barbaric and illegal torture and incarceration of Australian citizen Julian Assange. Assange is guilty of one thing, and that thing is “ publishing the crimes of various governments “ . The Americans of course, object to having their criminal behaviour exposed and are going to all lengths to punish Assange and lock him up in barbaric solitary confinement for the rest of his life. And here you were thinking the USA is the standard bearer and bastion of free speech and freedom in general for the world to follow . Believing that the USA is the epitome and home and perfect example of freedom in all it’s fundamental forms is being gullible in a most childish fashion.

Trump Wants Criticism of Israel Equated with Anti-Semitism

Anti-Zionism and anti-Israel are unrelated to hostility and bias toward Jews.

Israel is a nation-state, Judaism a religion. Some of Israel’s fiercest critics are Jews, clearly not self-hating ones.

Calling Jewish state critics anti-Semitic is a long-ago discredited canard.

The same goes for criticizing Zionism, tyranny by another name. The ideology is extremist, undemocratic, hateful, ruthless, racist, destructive, and hostile to peace, equity and justice.

It’s contemptuous of fundamental legal, moral and ethical principles, Jews unacceptably considered a chosen people superior to others.

House Dems Impeach Trump

As expected, the Dems impeached Trump for winning an election he was supposed to lose, for wanting improved relations with Russia, and other issues unrelated to phony charges against him.

His real high crimes of war and against humanity were ignored. The same goes for betraying the public trust by serving monied interests exclusively at the expense of ordinary people.

Why? Because the vast majority in Congress share guilt, so Dems invented phony politicized reasons to charge him.

Napalm: The Signature Weapon of the American Empire

Wanting to further increase their ability to destroy large areas, and with particular regard to the wooden cities of Japan (66), the US Chemical Warfare Service assembled a team of chemists at Harvard to design an incendiary weapon that would be optimal for this goal.

As the team progressed in its development, the military built replicas of German and Japanese civilian homes – complete with furnishings, with the most attention devoted to bedrooms and attics – so that the new weapon, dubbed “napalm” (a portmanteau of chemicals napthenate and palmitate) could be tested.

In all of these replica structures, which were built, burnt, and rebuilt multiple times, only civilian homes were constructed – never military, industrial, or commercial buildings (stated multiple times, e.g. 37).

Photos Show Greek Fighter Jet 'Locked On' To Turkish Warships Near Cyprus

Via Al-Masdar News,

A Greek fighter jet allegedly obtained 'missile lock' on a Turkish frigate that was traveling off the coast of Cyprus on December 8, 2019, the Aviationist reported.

Citing photos from the Twitter profile of journalist Yannis Nikitas, the Aviationist reported that a Greek Mirage 2000 jet targeted the Turkish frigate with Exocet anti-ship missiles during a show of force over the weekend.

Here is some further clarification, from Wikipedia: The Cyprus dispute

The article goes on to state: "It entered its current phase in the aftermath of the 1974 Turkish military invasion and occupation of the northern third of Cyprus. Only Turkey recognizes the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, while there is broad recognition that the ongoing military presence constitutes occupation of territories that belong to the Republic of Cyprus. According to the European Court of Human Rights, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus should be considered a puppet state under effective Turkish control.[3][4]"

How to Commit War Crimes—and Get Away With It

U.S. President Donald Trump sacked his Navy secretary on Twitter. The main reason is that the Navy secretary did not follow Trump’s advice regarding Navy Special Warfare Operator Edward Gallagher. Trump wanted Gallagher to retain his position as a Navy Seal. Gallagher was accused of stabbing to death a wounded fighter of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) in 2017; he was also accused of other incidents of murder (of a schoolgirl and an elderly man), and then of obstruction of justice. In July 2019, a military court acquitted Gallagher of most of the charges but found him guilty of posing with the body of the fighter who had been stabbed to death.

Pearl Harbor Revisited: Dispelling Surprise Attack Mythology

“I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”

Around one hour after Roosevelt’s December 8 address before a joint congressional session, the body declared war on Japan with one dissenting vote, signed into law by FDR the same day.

All wars are unjustifiably justified based on Big Lies and deception, WW II no exception. Roosevelt wanted involvement in Europe’s war. He wanted legislation requiring US neutrality reversed.

After the Japanese code was broken, intercepted cables confirmed an attack was coming. The US tracked its fleet from the Kurile Islands to its North Pacific refueling point en route to Pearl Harbor on or about December 7.

After the success of this first attack, LeMay was determined to continue, stating his intention to have Tokyo entirely “burned down – wiped right off the map”, and proceeded to carry out his homicidal determination with repeated fire-bombings covering an increasingly greater area of Japan.

General Curtis LeMay: “If we’d lost the war, we’d all have been prosecuted as war criminals”

LeMay said, “If we’d lost the war, we’d all have been prosecuted as war criminals.” And I think he’s right. He, and I’d say I, were behaving as war criminals. LeMay recognized that what he was doing would be thought immoral if his side had lost. But what makes it immoral if you lose and not immoral if you win?

“There are no innocent civilians. It is their government and you are fighting a people, you are not trying to fight an armed force anymore. So it doesn’t bother me so much to be killing the so-called innocent bystanders.”

“Killing Japanese didn’t bother me very much at that time… I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal…. Every soldier thinks something of the moral aspects of what he is doing. But all war is immoral and if you let that bother you, you’re not a good soldier. ”

ISRAELI GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND GLOBAL ARMS EXPORTS IN 2020

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR
The Israeli government is aiming to increase the volume of Israel’s defence exports, reported Globes, which has revealed the main points of the plan for the first time.

The project, being overseen by the Defence Ministry’s International Defence Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) led by Brigadier General (Res.) Yair Kulas, will begin to be rolled out in early 2020.

According to Globes, the plan is based on “focused seminars for senior commanders in foreign armies”, Israeli military “assistance for promoting sales of Israeli weapons”, and “subsidising small and medium-sized defence companies seeking to sell arms around the world”.

Speaking this week, Kulas said that SIBAT favours a major expansion of agreements between countries, resulting in significant deals for the large defence companies, especially Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.

Trump Must Understand a War With Iran Would Be Hell

Sixteen years ago, the George W. Bush administration manipulated intelligence to scare the public into backing an aggressive war against Iraq.

Now the Trump administration appears to be following the same well-worn path. The president has fixated on Iran, tearing up the nuclear accord with Tehran and declaring economic war on it—as well as anyone dealing with Iran. He is pushing America toward war even as he insists that he wants peace. How stupid does he believe we are?

Thousands of dead Americans, tens of thousands of wounded and maimed U.S. personnel, hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, and millions of Iraqis displaced. There was the sectarian conflict, destruction of the historic Christian community, the creation of Al Qaeda in Iraq—which morphed into the far deadlier Islamic State—and the enhanced influence of Iran. The prime question was how could so many supposedly smart people be so stupid?

"British" Bankers Supplied Germany to Extend WWI

By Henry Makow Ph.D.
(From Dec. 1, 2007)
On Oct 12, 1915, Edith Cavell, 50, a British nurse and head of a teaching hospital in Belgium, was shot by a German firing squad. Her death inflamed anti-German feeling in the US and caused enlistment in England to double.

She had helped some British POW's escape. Normally her crime was punished by three months imprisonment. Why was she killed?

According to Eustace Mullins, Edith Cavell had stumbled upon some damaging information. On April 15, 1915, The Nursing Mirror in London published her letter revealing that the Allied "Belgian Relief Commission" (charged with feeding Belgium) was, in fact, channeling thousands of tons of supplies to Germany.

WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT GINA HASPEL REALLY KNEW ABOUT THE CIA’S TORTURE PROGRAM

“I was not even read into the interrogation program until it had been up and running for a year,” Haspell told the Committee. But Haspel’s claims raised more than a few eyebrows. For one, the CIA began its torture program in the summer of 2002. By late 2002, Haspel was overseeing waterboarding at a black site detention center in Thailand, one of a number of countries exposed in a 2005 Washington Post report as territories being used for torture by the US to dodge judicial oversight.

Later reporting would reveal that Haspel also played a role in the CIA’s destruction of 92 tapes related to the CIA’s torture program. As such, the idea that the 34-year CIA vet wasn’t fully versed in—if not directly involved in—the program has long strained credulity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There were a number of people beside myself, who were singularly disappointed when Haspel was nominated, and confirmed, as head of the CIA.

Back in World War II, there was a German interrogator who was incredibly gifted at what he did; the guy was one Hanns Scharff Bio: Hanns Scharff

Between the two World Wars,, he learned to speak a very excellent English, and was assigned to British and American prisoners of war.

But there was one thing he absolutely never did, and that was torture, or attempt to cause any kind of physical or mental anguish; instead, he made the men he questioned think that he already knew everything there was to know about their operation, and would frequently take them out on day passes for cultural events. And this was the way he got good intelligence from his sessions with the men he was questioning.

After the war, he was so respected by the Americans military, that they invited him to military universities to teach his techniques.

In the confirmation of Haspel as Director of the CIA, it appears that Congress was more comfortable with someone whose concepts of human rights was just to the right of those of Attila the Hun, rather than with a figure like Scharff, if we even had someone like him under consideration at the time.

Additionally, Congress and the military needed someone who could "keep a lid" on earlier, potentially explosive torture/war crimes about which the American public still does not know a lot, but which they knew Haspel understood how to do brilliantly.

History will not judge this country kindly, for its Congressional representatives having made this choice.

First, torture does not get actionable information; it gets the torturers to stop torturing because the tortured has "confessed" to some action about which a narrative can be "spun".

Secondly, torturing shows that we only observe our alleged love of human rights only in their breach; not their observation.

And thirdly, when we torture, we give some third world dictator the absolute carte blanche to start torturing American citizens or military personnel.

If ANY of our readers out there are either in the military, or have family and friends who are, that is a very important consideration against any use of torture by the US.

Scharff's life, and what drove him, at the end of the day, to not hurt his prisoners, when the rest of his contemporaries in the Gestapo were cheerily ripping off fingernails of American and British military, slowly, and inflicting as massive an amount of physiological and psychological pain possible, is the point here.

John Noble, the Australian actor, would be a brilliant choice as Scharff, because he has a gift for creating very complex characters, and yet making them truly real.

But I will tell you one thing; whoever makes this film, and whoever stars in it, will have to be, collectively, very brave; because no matter how brilliant the film, it will probably get completely shunned, as was James Cameron's "Avatar", one of the most powerful anti-war movies ever made, when it came up for the Oscar for Best Picture, and the winner that year was "The Hurt Locker."

UK Failure in Iraq and Afghanistan Highlighted by War Crime Claims

The alleged bid by the British government and army to close down investigations into torture and murder in Iraq and Afghanistan appears to be the latest aspect of a widespread desire in in the UK to forget all about these failed wars.

Joining the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 is commonly blamed on Tony Bair, but there is little interest in the desperate situation into which British troops were plunged post-invasion, first in southern Iraq and then, three years later, in Helmand province in Afghanistan.

The gravity of the miscalculations in each case is not in doubt. Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, the British ambassador in Kabul at the time, wrote in his memoirs that the worst mistake made by the Foreign Office in the previous 30 years was the invasion of Iraq, and the second worst was “its enthusiastic endorsement of Britain’s half-baked effort to occupy Helmand in 2006”.

ICC could investigate UK war crimes cover-up in Iraq

Leaked documents accuse the British government and the army of covering up the killing of children and the torture of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a Panorama/Sunday Times investigation.

Saudi Aramco to go Public in December in an Effort to Bring Outside Investors

Gen. David Petraeus, the retired four-star Army general and former head of the CIA, told CNBC on Thursday that Saudi Arabia is “gradually running out of money.”

Petraeus said the Saudi’s need their initial public offering (IPO) of the state-run oil company Aramco, to be successful. In December, the Saudis plan on releasing some shares of Aramco to the public in an effort to attract outside investors.

The IPO is part of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s “Vision 2030,” his effort to diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy and reduce its dependence on oil exports. Petraeus said Saudi Arabia’s budget deficits can be “anywhere from $40 to $60 billion” each year, depending on the price of oil.

When asked about other people’s criticisms of the crown prince, Petraeus said it was in the entire world’s interest to see “Saudi Arabia succeed” and to also see it “moderate” some of its practices.

Webmaster's Commentary:

General Petraeus, a word, please; as long as the Saudi Royal Family runs the kingdom like their own personal fiefdom, and as long as they continue their genocide of Yemen, not to mention assassinating people whose opinions they do not like, Saudi Arabia has no motivation to "moderate" some of its practices.

Constitutional monarchies can, and do work; but unless, and until, this happens here, Saudi Arabia will continue to be a rogue nation, flattering itself into believing that all acts of savagery are acceptible... because it is the Saudi Royal Family doing those acts of savagery.

IF this IPO folds like a really bad souffle, it is possible that the Butcher of Yemen may have to do some real thinking about the money it takes to fund his genocide in Yemen.

Such a bad "financial bounce" from the failure of his IPO may get Saudi and Houthi forces talking about a negotiated settlement to end hostilities, which is what sane people have suggested for years.

Trump Issues Pardons in War Crimes Cases: Pentagon commanders worried moves will undermine military justice

Even with all the wars the US is presently involved in and all the shady activity that goes with that, it’s fairly unusual for the military to get around to charging personnel with war crimes. When they do, however, military commanders try to emphasize the importance, both to show the military doesn’t let everyone get away with everything, and to deter personnel from ignoring the chain of command.

On Friday, however, President Trump knocked out three of those war crimes cases with full pardons. The White House statement said they wanted to give US soldiers the “confidence to fight.”

US Drones Capture Footage Of Pro-Turkish Forces Engaged In Shocking War Crimes

Entirely to be expected, a new report in The Wall Street Journal has found that Turkish-backed Syrian forces currently fighting US-backed Kurdish groups as part of 'Operation Peace Spring' are guilty of war crimes, including summary executions of Kurdish civilians.

"U.S. military officials watched live drone feeds last month that appeared to show Turkish-backed Arab gunmen targeting civilians during their assault on Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syria, attacks the Americans reported to their commanders as possible war crimes, according to current and former U.S. officials familiar with the incidents," reports the WSJ.

What the report fails to mention, however, is the blatantly obvious and relevant recent history that the Islamist militants carrying out such atrocities are the very same militants which were a few short years ago funded, armed and trained by the CIA and Pentagon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This just makes me physically sick.

Can someone, please, identify that moment in time, when I signed on, as a citizen of the United States of America, to be a citizen of a country which either engaged in war crimes, or one which just allowed them to happen, and there were no repercussions against them?!?

I really need some help on this folks, because THIS is my moment... of "selective memory disorder", I absolutely cannot recall having done this, so if anyone wants to clue me in, you're due a profound "thank you."

Do you remember the codswallop we all got force-fed in public school, about how great and noble this country was, and that it was a country which could never, ever be in the morally wrong, at any time, and through any choices its leadership had made?!?

Well, for me, my "Buddha on the Road" came while I was a senior in High School, and the VietNam war was raging; it was great for the military/industrial complex, but pretty lousy for those conscripted to fight this war, and their families.

Many came home in a cheap metal casket; others came home maimed for life; and others may have physically present, but were suffering from any possible number of stress-induced traumas.

Then, those Veterans who DID come home, were not greeted with at least some compassion, but were abused, and humiliated for doing what their country's government directed them to do; it should have been those elements in the US government who perpetuated this immoral war, who should have been rightly reviled, tried, and convicted of their war crimes, and put away at a facility which was NOT a "Club Fed."

I cannot keep from thinking, that had that madness stopped sooner than it was, and the truly guilty were tried and convicted, we would not be in Syria; Afghanistan; Iraq; or Niger today.

But in looking at the current situations in the above-referenced countries, I am reminded of the phrase that "Those who do not learn from history...are doomed to repeat it."

Israel is silencing the last voices trying to stop abuses against Palestinians

Jonathan Cook highlights recent cases of extraordinary human rights abuses by Israeli soldiers, and argues that it is a sign of Israel’s overweening confidence in its own impunity that it is also openly violating the rights of those whose job it is to monitor human rights.>>

Veteran's Day Normalizes War (Satanic Human Sacrifice)

Cabalist (Masonic) central bankers follow a long-term
plan to degrade and enslave humanity. This is what Communism is really about. They finance both sides of every war to make human sacrifices to their God Satan, to make money and extend their tyranny. Illuminati insider Ronald Bernard said
that wars are designed to sacrifice humans. (Starting at 18 min) Are we complicit in satanic human sacrifice by pretending they died in a noble cause?

The Armistice We Need: Time for Vets To Reclaim Veterans’ Day

In the 101 years since the Armistice took effect, on the eleventh minute, of the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month of 1918, the US military has been at war somewhere – even by conservative measures – all but eleven of those years. That pesky number eleven, how it haunts us still. Most Americans may find that statistic shocking, or, in some cases, might simply reject it. And why not? Much of the citizenry learned the nation’s history, taught (at increasingly paltry levels) in public schools. Too often they’re trained to reflexively view the US as a once flawed, but ultimately great – exceptional, even – country. Those pugnacious stats can’t be accurate, many assume, because after all, America isn’t an empire, isn’t a warlike nation. Even in this so-called modern age, such thinking is shockingly pervasive.

War is a Racket by Maj. General, Smedley Darlington Butler

War is a Racket is a book by Maj. General, Smedley Darlington Butler, the most decorated Marine in history, denouncing the military industrial complex. This reenactment video is a compilation of some of his speeches. The two-time Congressional Medal of Honor recipient exposes war profits that benefit the few at the expense of many. Throughout his distinguished career in the Marines, Smedley Darlington Butler demonstrated that true patriotism does not mean blind allegiance to government policies with which one does not agree. To Hell with war.

And the Armies That Remained Suffer’d: Veterans, Moral Injury and Suicide

by Matthew Hoh

In a 2015 New York Times story a Marine Corps infantry unit that was tracked after coming home from war saw suicide rates among its young men 4 times greater than other young male veterans and 14 times that of civilians. This increased risk of suicide for veterans who served during war holds true for all generations of veterans, including the Greatest Generation. A study in 2010 by The Bay Citizen and New America Media, as reported by Aaron Glantz, found the current suicide rate for WWII veterans to be 4 times higher than for their civilian peers, while VA data, released since 2015, show rates for WWII veterans well elevated above their civilian peers. A 2012 VA study found that Vietnam veterans with killing experiences had twice the odds of suicidal ideation than those with lower or no killing experiences, even after adjusting for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse and depression.
