Obama’s Imperial Mideast Policy Has Unraveled

Not only had the U.S. approved the same Kurdish offensive, but it had provided arms, money, and air support plus military advice in the form of some 250 US Special Operations forces embedded among members of the Kurdish militia known as the YPG.Although the Turks claimed to be targeting ISIS (also known as Islamic State, IS, ISIL, and Daesh), it was plain from the outset that the real aim was to counter an offensive that had carried Kurdish forces some 20 miles west of the Euphrates River and put them in a position to control nearly the entire Syrian-Turkish border.

Indeed, the Syrian Democratic Forces, a multi-ethnic militia anchored by the YPG, was a real success story, just about the only one Washington has had in the course of its disastrous five-year Syrian intervention.

The Little-Known Secret to Destroying ISIS Propaganda

ISIS and Al Qaeda terrorist attacks on Westerners is evil.

And as a white American from a Judeo-Christian background, I am repulsed by the fact that ISIS is targeting Christians in Syria and Iraq with brutal murder … including crucifixion. [And these crimes are invariably not reported by the Western media.]

But most victims of ISIS, Al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorism are themselves Muslim.

‘Beholden to AIPAC’ — progressive senators

Senators Warren, Murphy, Brown sign letter seeking to limit Obama’s actions...

The news that many progressive US senators as well as vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine signed on to an Israel lobby letter designed to limit President Obama’s actions against the Israeli occupation, now nearly 50 years old, has been widely reported, but the plain facts need to be stated.

Yesterday the Israel lobby group AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, flexed its muscle against President Obama and on the side of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu by posting a letter signed by 88 senators warning President Obama not to back any international measures that would pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories.

Did the Pentagon Bomb Syrian Army to Kill Ceasefire Deal?

The US has officially taken responsibility for the incident which it called a “mistake”...

A rift between the Pentagon and the White House turned into open rebellion on Saturday when two US F-16s and two A-10 warplanes bombed Syrian Arab Army (SAA) positions at Deir al-Zor killing at least 62 Syrian regulars and wounding 100 others.

Many analysts now wonder whether the attacks are an indication that the neocon-strewn DOD is actively engaged in sabotaging President Obama’s Syria policy, a claim that implies that the Pentagon is led by anti-democratic rebels who reject the Constitutional authority of the civilian leadership. Saturday’s bloodletting strongly suggests that a mutiny is brewing at the War Department.

The press service of Poroshenko stressed that "the resumption of (Turkey’s - TASS) dialogue with Russia will not affect the position of Turkey."

30 Israeli, Foreign Intelligence Officers Killed in Russia's Caliber Missile Attack in Aleppo

"The Russian warships fired three Caliber missiles at the foreign officers' coordination operations room in Dar Ezza region in the Western part of Aleppo near Sam'an mountain, killing 30 Israeli and western officers," the Arabic-language service of the Russian Sputnik news agency quoted battlefield source in Aleppo as saying on Wednesday.

The operations room was located in the Western part of Aleppo province in the middle of sky-high Sam'an mountain and old caves. The region is deep into a chain of mountains.

Several US, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari and British officers were also killed along with the Israeli officers. The foreign officers who were killed in the Aleppo operations room were directing the terrorists' attacks in Aleppo and Idlib.

FBI grilled over handling of Clinton investigation

However, the key Clinton aide, Bryan Pagliano, did not show up for the hearing, pleading Fifth Amendment protections against self-incrimination.

NATO ‘Welcomes’ Turkish Invasion of SyriaSecretary-General: Staying Out of Syria Not an Option

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu today, and issued a statement “welcoming” Turkey’s recent invasion of Syria, saying that Turkey is a “strong and highly valued” member of NATO and it was important that they are increasing anti-ISIS efforts.

Stoltenberg conceded that Syria was “a very complex and very difficult situation,” but insisted that the alliance did not have the option of remaining out of the Syrian Civil War, saying that the alliance must fight against ISIS inside Syria.

Turkey’s invasion has seen them fight ISIS, at least some of the time, but the invasion has also set its sights on the US-backed Kurdish YPG. Several NATO nations, particularly France have previously expressed disquiet about Turkey’s invasion, despite Stoltenberg’s apparently unreserved endorsement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has Stoltenberg gone absolutely barking dog mad, to have made this statement?!?

Is Stoltenberg for more serial genocide of the Kurds by the Turkish military inside Syria?!?

Is he for Turkey nipping off bits of Syrian sovereign territory, permanently?!?

Because just as certainly as as God made little green apples, these will definitely be the outcomes of this Turkish invasion of Syria.

The layers of complexity in this war just got expanded, exponentially, with Turkey going into Syria now.

Turkish Troops Trade Fire With Syrian Kurds Along Border

Turkish forces and the Syrian Kurdish YPG have exchanged fire across the border between Turkey and Syria today, according to military officials. There were as yet no details about the casualties, but the fighting does point to Turkey’s operations inside Syria, since their invasion two weeks ago, moving into a new anti-Kurdish phase.

Both sides accuse the other of firing first, and look officials in Afrin, the Kurdish-held town, denied that they returned any fire at all, insisting it was simply another round of “Turkish aggression” that threatened to ignite a war against them.

Turkey made much of invading Syria not just to fight ISIS, but to expel the Kurds from west of the Euphrates River. US Defense Secretary Ash Carter today reiterated that the Kurdish YPG had totally withdrawn from Manbij. Turkish officials have repeatedly said that the Kurds have not withdrawn from the area.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More Turkish serial genocide against the Kurds, I see; and of course, the US government is doing absolutely nothing about it!!

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – SEPTEMBER 9, 2016: IRANIAN FIGHTERS ARRIVE ALEPPO CITY

September 8, 2016 saw heavy action for the Islamic State in eastern Qalamoun, Damascus. Faylaq al-Rahman, the Alabdo Martyr brigade and the Islamic State exchanged fire near the capital on Thursday. The Islamic State was reported to have lost a 23 mm gun to a TOW missile strike from Faylaq al-Rahman during combat.

The so-called ‘Free Syrian Army’ captured Qunra, Mirzah and Tel Ali from the Islamic State. Aided by Turkish airstrikes, the rebel factions wrested control of the Turkish border region from Daesh’s grasp.

Turkey reinforced its border forces by deploying 43 Armored Personnel Carriers with 180 fresh troops to Gaziantep. In Islahiye, north of Afrin, a Turkish army convoy deployed a number of T-155 F?rt?na self-propelled howitzers.

Turkey May Go Deeper in Syria, Citing Kurdish Forces

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli today suggested that the Turkish military, which invaded northern Syria two weeks ago, is preparing to go deeper into Syrian territory in the near future, suggesting that Turkey may ultimately want a deeper slice of Syria than just the 90 km border stretch.

While this would include some ISIS territory deeper into the country, Canikli’s comments centered heavily on the Kurdish YPG, and continued Turkish annoyance that they have forces west of the Euphrates River, and have not totally withdrawn.

Turkey made a big point, during their initial invasion, of saying that a major factor was the Kurdish expansion across the river, which Turkey had long insisted was a “red line.” The main Kurdish territory on the west side of the river is in and around Manbij.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This "slicing off" pieces of Syria by Turkey is bound to complicate the Syrian civil war intensely.

And what happens to the Kurds, who have been strong allies and resourceful fighters for the US?!? Unfortunately, I am afraid that they will be thrown under the proverbial bus by the US, and their dreams for an independent Kurdistan will be dashed yet one more time.

Pentagon And CIA at War in Syria

What a mess! In the crazy Syrian war, US-backed and armed groups are fighting other US-backed rebel groups. How can this be?

It is so because the Obama White House had stirred up war in Syria but then lost control of the process. When the US has a strong president, he can usually keep the military and intelligence agencies on a tight leash.
But the Obama administration has had a weak secretary of defense and a bunch of lady strategists who are the worst military commanders since Louis XV, who put his mistress, Madame de Pompadour, in charge of French military forces during the Seven Year’s War.

As a result, the two arms of offensive US strategic power, the Pentagon and CIA, went separate ways in Syria. Growing competition between the US military and militarized CIA broke into the open in Syria.

Fed up with the astounding incompetence of the White House, the US military launched and supported its own rebel groups in Syria, while CIA did the same.

The Tide is Turning: The Official Story Is Now The Conspiracy Theory — Paul Craig Roberts

The question is: who are the real conspiracy kooks, the majority who disbelieve the official lies or the minority who believe the official lies?

In a few days it will be the 15th anniversary of 9/11, and this November 13 will be the 53rd anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas. TURKEY CALLS FOR “BUFFER ZONE” IN SYRIA AS MILITARY SEIZES TERRITORY CALLED FOR BY BROOKINGS, MSM

With this invasion, Turkey has solidified its willingness to risk outright war with Syria and perhaps even Russia in order to fulfill the goals of NATO and Anglo-American powers who have sought to destroy Syria from the beginning.

Part of this strategy is the creation of “buffer zones” and “safe zones” in the north, precisely the concepts that were re-floated and discussed by the United States and U.K. only days before the invasion. Note that the invasion and operations are centering around Jarablus, the eastern border of the famed Jarablus corridor which, bordered by Afrin and Azaz in the West, make up the last fully functioning terrorist supply routes coming in from Turkey.

Erdogan proposes no-fly zone in northern Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday he had proposed, to the US and Russia, the setting up of a no-fly zone in northern Syria, after Ankara-backed fighters pushed the Islamic State (IS) group from the border area.

"We are working for this region to be declared no-fly zone," Erdogan said at the G20 meeting in China, referring to the land extending from Jarabulus to Azaz in northern Syria seized from IS militants.

"This is my proposal to Mr Putin and Mr Obama. This can be done with coalition forces," he added in televised comments.

Turkey launched an operation inside Syria on 24 August, sending tanks and special forces in to back opposition fighters.

On Sunday, IS were expelled from their last positions along the Turkish-Syrian border depriving the group of a key transit point for recruits and supplies.

Turkey Calls For “Buffer Zone” In Syria As Military Seizes Territory Called For By Brookings, MSM

By Brandon Turbeville

The Next Escalation: Turkey’s Invasion of Syria

The Syrian conflict has been an object study in murkiness and orchestrated dissimilitude. Its prolongation signals, not so much clarity as readjustment for the next intervention, the next interference. The big powers continue to soil themselves; smaller powers hope for some look-in in a potential redrawing of the Syrian map.

Turkey’s operation was bound to overcook the new found value between Ankara and Moscow. The Jarablus operation could hardly have had the imprimatur of Moscow. There was more than a touch of irritation registered in such channels as Kommersant, which tends to take its draught from semi-official, if not official sources. “The operation in Syria, not coordinated with Moscow, threatens to complicate the process of normalization of bilateral cooperation” agreed between Turkey and Russia in St. Petersburg on August 9.[4]

Syrian Kurds to Fight to Death to Stop Turkey 'invading Their Land'

The Syrian Kurdish leadership vows to defend their de facto state in north east Syria to the end, but is fearful of a growing understanding between the Syrian and Turkish governments in opposition to Kurdish separatism at a time when US support for the Kurds is faltering.

In an exclusive interview with The Independent, a senior Syrian Kurdish official says that the Kurds will fight to the death to stop Turkey “invading the region” and speaks of possible reconciliation between Damascus and Ankara on the Kurdish question.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Kurds have every good reason to believe that the US government will throw the Kurds under the proverbial bus, if it suits their geopolitical agenda.

Neoconservatives are wedded to war, death and destruction. It is the foundation of their policy and it dominates the culture that they have created.

If Hillary Rodham Clinton becomes US President, she will be the first neoconservative to actually occupy that office.

Israel and its supporters were inseparable from the neoconservative movement from the beginning.

Many neocons were already Zionist or pro-Zionist, and their support for aggressive militarism was largely indistinguishable from Israel’s own strategic plans.

To the extent that the neocon movement could sell Israel’s views as solidly American, it could bend the resources of the most powerful military on earth for Israel’s own ends.

Blood-Stained Politics: Wider War on Syria Will Cause Geopolitical Chaos, Numerous Innocent Deaths

Experience tells us that by widening the war, the United States and its client states are not going to rescue the Syrian people from the bloodletting when they are doing precisely the opposite. Widening US intervention would only make things worse:

- Whoever chooses to bomb Syria in a wider war is confusing cause and effect. The war started because the United States and its client states highjacked grassroots peaceful protests, then engineered, recruited, trained and deployed terrorists into Syria. They are the first aggressors and gave ISIL and Al-Qaeda legitimacy. Chemical attacks by ISIL and Al-Qaeda affiliates are only designed to encourage outside powers to intervene and save these proxies from a complete failure. In turn, this provides the regime changers with legitimacy to intervene on a “humanitarian” basis. So bombing Syria amounts to doing these terrorist groups a favour and will not eradicate extremism, much less save civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not know who wrote this op-ed for the English language version of Fars News; but I certainly would like to meet them, and congratulate them for their observations.

What they have offered here is a completely, stunningly logical, lucid assessment of the present situation in Syria, and what can be done to keep things from getting worse.

Unfortunately, if internal White House and DNC polls indicate that Donald Trump will win the Presidency in November, we can look for a major, military escalation of one - if not many - of the simmering hot spots all over the globe, and Syria might well be one of them.

This may well be the DNC's parting "gift" to Trump: one or several major wars before he even takes the oath of office in January.

More Turkish tanks cross into northern Syria: Report

Turkish tanks have crossed into northern Syria from Kilis province in a new phase of operation against Kurdish-led forces.

Around 20 tanks, five armored personnel carriers, trucks and other armored vehicles on Saturday crossed the border near the Turkish village of Cobanbey, which lies across from the Syrian village of Ra’i, Turkish media reported.

The area is some 55 kilometers southwest of Jarablus, where last week Turkish-backed Syrian militants launched “Operation Euphrates Shield”, Turkey's first major incursion into Syria since the start of the foreign-backed militancy in the Arab country more than five years ago.

The reports also said that Turkish howitzers pounded alleged Daesh positions in the area as the fresh armored contingent advanced.

As the French escalate bombing of Raqqa in Syria in the wake of the Nice terrorist psyops, Turkey could be facing an acute state of emergency.

Amid Turkey Invasion, Syrian Kurds Fear US Betrayal

A population of some 30 million people spanning a large territory, that the Kurds haven’t had a meaningful period of autonomy in many centuries reflects historical imperial realities, but that they’ve not been able to secure such autonomy recently is seen by many Kurds as the result of systematic mistreatment not just by regional powers, but by the international community as well.

The expectation among many is that they are little more than an alliance of convenience for anyone in the region, and after a couple of years of substantial US support allowing them to grow a large, nominally autonomous territory in northeast Syria, last week’s invasion of northern Syria by Turkey is looking an awful lot like business as usual.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given the US government's proclivity for throwing supporting elements under the proverbial bus as it becomes "necessary", the Kurdish people have every reason to fear for the worst here.

‘De-Confliction, Unity’: US In Balancing Act As Turkish, Kurdish Forces Clash In Syria

USA balancing act as Turkish & Kurdish allies face off in Syria.

Sep 01 15:08

RUSSIA, SYRIA, AND TURKEY HAVE AGREED ON JOINT OPERATIONS IN SYRIA

If Russia wanted to, it could deploy three armored divisions to Syria within 72 hours and thereby permanently solve the problem of Islamist rebels. The US could do the same in its pursuit of removing Bashar al-Assad from power. Therefore, the two powers’ involvement in Syria and the fighting has been done mostly by proxies, while each of the two great powers tries to cheat the other. This balance was disturbed by the Turkish military intervention in Northern Syria. The intervention could have ruined the rules established between the US and Russia. However, things were clarified and there was an unexpected chance to rapidly conclude hostilities in Syria.

Turkey Invades Syria, America Spins The Bottle

So within the space of a few days, the United States has, first, commanded the government of Syria to keep its air force away from part of its own sovereign territory, Hasakah, occupied by American soldiers and their Kurdish “partners”; it then, with applause from other NATO countries, provided air support for a Turkish invasion of Syria and seizure of the Syrian town of Jarablus from those “partners.” These are unambiguous acts of war, and Orwellian acts of doublethink aggression.

Turkey’s Coup: Winners & Losers

As the dust begins to settle from the failed Turkish coup, we can start to identify some winners and losers, although predicting things in the Middle East these days is a tricky business. What is clear is that several alignments have shifted, and those shifts could have an impact on the two regional running sores: the civil wars in Syria and Yemen.

Turkey Won’t Accept Any Ceasefire With Syrian Kurds

Turkey’s EU Affairs Minister Omer Celik today ruled out any situation in which the government agreed to a truce with the Syrian Kurdish YPG, insisting that Turkey is a “sovereign state” and that it was impossible for them to enter into any agreement with a terrorist organization, which it considers the YPG.

Kurdish officials claimed a deal had been reached with Turkey yesterday, and that a ceasefire was in place in northern Syria. Turkey denied the deal at the time, while Syrian rebels allied with Turkey claimed it was a coincidental pause, and that attacks on the Kurds would resume soon.

Turkey’s invasion of northern Syria, though initially targeting the ISIS-held city of Jarabulus, was done primarily to expel Kurdish forces from the west of the Euphrates River. ISIS is expected to be targeted over the course of the fighting as well.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Looks like the Turkish government has decided to indulge in more serial genocide against the Kurds, who the US government, after incredible sacrifice in behalf of the US government and military, appear to have been dropped by that same US government and military like the proverbial hot potato.

This proves, incontrovertibly, to the rest of the world, that the US government cannot be trusted when they call you "their friend", and will stab you in the back for any conceivable gain they may get by so doing.

And, as reported in theintercept.com yesterday:

FIVE YEARS AFTER the start of Syria’s uprising, the Turkish military directly entered the fray last week, sending troops to occupy the northern Syrian town of Jarablus, previously held by the militant group the Islamic State. Turkey’s intervention represents a significant escalation of the conflict, as well as a sign that the country is likely to take a more aggressive approach to foreign policy following July’s failed military coup and subsequent purge. But Turkey’s intervention is also an indication that the U.S. strategy of empowering Kurdish groups to fight the Islamic State in Syria has helped trigger an entirely new conflict, this time between U.S.-backed militias and a NATO ally. Turkey launched its recent incursion both to take territory from the Islamic State and also to halt gains by the Syrian Democratic Forces and People’s Protection Units, Kurdish-led groups backed by the United States. The government in Ankara fears these groups will set up an autonomous Kurdish zone on its border, emboldening separatists within Turkey. While many predicted Turkey’s government would become more inward looking following the failed coup, it seems as though the opposite may be the case. In a statement last week, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the country would be “more active in the Syria issue in the coming six months.” Turkish-aligned rebel factions recently won a major battle to break a Syrian government siege in the northern hub of Aleppo, a region with historical ties to Turkey. With Turkish forces now directly operating on Syrian soil, it seems the conflict is entering a dangerous new phase of regional involvement.

In addition, Hollande is warning Russia not to become a “protagonist” in the war.

Turkish Invasion Of Syria Reveals Vortex Of Interests

By Brandon Turbeville

As Turkey deepens its push into Syrian territory, numerous geopolitical interests are now colliding with one another in what appears to be a war worthy of the reputation the Middle East has for political and geopolitical complexity. Having had its immediate expedition across the Turkey-Syria border condemned by the Syrian government, Turkey is now facing some public criticism from the United States in regards to its military efforts against Kurdish forces east of the Euphrates who are themselves aligned with the United States, partially against ISIS and the Syrian government as well as staunch enemies of the Turkish government.

Pentagon: Fighting Between Turkey, Syrian Kurds ‘Unacceptable’

Turkey’s invasion of northern Syria last week added dramatically to the complexity of America’s involvement in the Syrian War, which already saw a substantial number of different “US-backed” groups that are at one another’s throats grow substantially with the introduction of Turkish military forces in close proximity to the Kurdish YPG.

While Turkey, and their affiliated militias, captured the ISIS city of Jarabulus at the border, it wasn’t long before they were sacking Kurdish villages and engaging in direct fighting with the YPG over territory along the Euphrates River. Turkish officials have made no bones about this being the primary goal of the campaign.

Pentagon officials came into Turkey’s invasion trying to be supportive, launching a few airstrikes to support the incursion and demanding the Kurds cede some territory. Now, however, they’re just insisting the clashes are “unacceptable” and demanding that everyone “stand down immediately.”

A monitoring group said at least 35 civilians and four militants had been killed in the Turkish attacks.

The Turkish military said 25 people, all Kurdish militants, had been killed.

The strikes came on the fifth day of Turkey's military operation to target so-called Islamic State (IS) militants and Kurdish militia inside Syria.

Joe Biden Humiliated In Turkish "Appeasement" As Erdogan Bombs US Allies In Syria

The last time U.S. Vice President Joe Biden flew to Turkey, in January, he had a stern message for President Erdogan: his model of Islamic democracy was setting a bad example by intimidating media and threatening academics. However, his tone was markedly different when he arrived in Ankara on Wednesday, just weeks after a failed coup in Turkey that has strained relations between the two countries, and on the same day that Turkey launched a full-blown incursion into northern Syria "to halt ISIS." With Turkey making very clear, and very open overtures toward Russia, Biden was in full blown diplomatic damage-limitation mode.

Erdogan Calls Putin as Russia Seethes at Turkey’s Syrian Incursion

Russia furious at Turkish move to set up rebel “safe zone” inside Syria to assist Jihadi rebels there, putting the recently announced “normalisation of relations” between Russia and Turkey in jeopardy.
In the immediate aftermath of the Turkish capture of Jarablus in Syria Turkish President Erdogan telephoned his “friend Putin” on Friday 27th August 2016.

The Kremlin’s account of the conversation is remarkable even by its standards for its terseness

“The two leaders discussed the development of Russia-Turkey trade and political and economic cooperation in keeping with the agreements reached in St Petersburg on August 9. Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged opinions on developments in Syria and pointed out the importance of joint efforts in fighting terrorism. They agreed to continue their dialogue on the issues of the bilateral and international agenda.”
The true subject of the discussion will in fact have been the Turkish capture of Jarablus in northern Syria.

However, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin saved Erdogan’s Presidency, and probably Erdogan’s life, by contacting him hours prior to the pending coup and thus enabled him to plan and prepare so as to overcome the attempt, and crush the operation.

I know Turkey well. I have worked closely with Turkish people for more than 20 years. Five of my books were translated and published there, and in Istanbul, I have appeared on countless television talk shows. And honestly: the more I know Turkey, the less I understand it! It is one of the most complex countries on Earth. Turkey is unpredictable, full of contradictions and shifting alliances. Nothing is really what it appears to be on the surface. And even under the surface, the currents are often merging, separating, and even reversing their course. To write about Turkey, to write fairly and in-depth, requires jogging through a minefield. In the end, you always get it wrong! You make a huge amount of Turkish people unhappy, no matter what you say. It is mainly because there seems to be no simple, objective truth. And various 'camps' disagree with each other, fundamentally and passionately.

Invading sovereign states, ignoring UN

How important can the declarations from the UN be? Will they entail any real action? Pravda.Ru spoke about it to senior officer at the Center for Military-Political Studies at the Moscow State University for Foreign Relations (MGIMO), Doctor of Political Science, Mikhail Alexandrov. "Nothing will follow. It's just a formal statement. In general, Syria's sovereignty is violated by anyone who will take the trouble, except for Russia and Iran that operate in Syria in coordination with the Syrian government. The UN has shown the reaction because Turkey's actions do not fit into the Western strategy. The US, in turn, has reluctantly swallowed the pill, because the Americans are forced to reconcile with Turkey now after the conflict associated with the attempted coup. The Turks, of course, took advantage of the situation - they took advantage of the US support for their own purposes," said the expert...

Biden Met by Snubs as He Seeks to Mollify Turkey’s Angry Erdogan

From the minute he stepped off the plane on Wednesday, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s trip to Turkey seemed ill-fated.

Intended to smooth relations frayed by last month’s botched coup, Biden’s visit instead showcased acrimony with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey sent low-ranking officials -- including Ankara’s deputy mayor -- to greet Biden at the airport. And even before the vice president’s visit ended, the Daily Sabah, a pro-Erdogan newspaper, declared that "Biden wasted a trip, Turkey wasted time."

Biden -- the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Turkey since the coup -- was apologetic and conciliatory during his joint news conference with Erdogan. As the vice president spoke, the Turkish leader sat back in his chair, stone-faced.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Turkish Invasion Of Syria: Who Is Behind It And Why

By Brandon Turbeville

...The Turkish invasion is predicated on the basis of “fighting ISIS,” a wholly unbelievable goal since Turkey itself has been supporting, training, and facilitating ISIS since day one. Not only that, but Turkey is arriving in Syria with terrorists in tow since, as the BBC reported, “Between nine and 12 tanks crossed the frontier, followed by pick-up trucks believed to be carrying hundreds of fighters from Turkish-backed factions of the rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA).” If Turkey was interested in stopping terrorism, why would they lead the charges for more terrorists to enter Syria? Indeed, if stopping terrorism was truly Turkey’s goal, it is capable of sealing the border from its own side without any need for invasion so why the war the party?...

At this time, the military operations seem focused around Jarablus.

According to the BBC, “A dozen Turkish tanks and other vehicles have rolled across the Syrian border after heavy shelling of an area held by so-called Islamic State (IS). Military sources told Turkish media 70 targets in the Jarablus area had been destroyed by artillery and rocket strikes, and 12 by air strikes.”

By prioritizing traditional alliances, control of resources and economic ideology, the U.S. turns a blind eye to other aspects of autocratic behavior that contradict its own avowed values, thereby setting up a vivid display of foreign policy hypocrisy. An example is the issue of democracy and the “Other.” Since the 1960s the United States has been struggling with its racist impulses.

SHIFTING ALLIANCES: TURKEY, RUSSIA AND THE KURDS

It is an irrefutable fact that the United States sponsors the militants, but only for a limited period of time in order to achieve certain policy objectives. For instance: the United States nurtured the Afghan jihadists during the Cold War against the erstwhile Soviet Union from 1979 to 1988, but after the signing of Geneva Accords and the consequent withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the United States withdrew its support to the Afghan jihadists.

NATO Nukes in Romania: Rumor Mill Vs. Reality

By Ulson Gunnar

Unconfirmed reports regarding the US moving nuclear weapons it reportedly maintains at Incirlik Airbase, Turkey to Romania (a NATO member since 2004) made the rounds last week. It is just one of many stories surrounding the apparent fallout between the United States and its stalwart ally and fellow NATO member, Turkey.

Following a failed coup in July, Turkey has accused the US openly of orchestrating the attempted overthrow of the government. Despite this, US forces continue operating from Turkish territory, and according to official reports, American nuclear weapons remain in Turkey.

But what if they were being moved? And if not to Romania as Romanian officials insist, to another NATO member state, what would this mean? And if they are not being moved, who started this rumor and why?...

Russia could use Incirlik airbase ‘if necessary’ – Turkish PM

Ankara wouldn’t mind it if Russia used the Incirlik airbase for its anti-terror missions against Islamic State terrorists in Syria, Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim hinted on Saturday, but acknowledged that no such requests have been made.

12-14yo child behind suicide bombing that killed 51 at Turkey wedding – Erdogan

“It was carried out like an atrocity,” Ibrahim Ozdemir said, referring to Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). “We want to end these massacres. We are in pain, especially the women and children.”

President Erdogan has placed the blame for the attack on IS, which has carried out numerous atrocities across Turkey in recent months. He called the attack a “heinous” bombing.

The attack also comes a month after a failed coup attempt against Erdogan. He has accused the US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen and his supporters of being behind the attempted power grab.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Turkey has been a major supplier to ISIS in Syria. If Erdogan cuts that off, ISIS in Syria is finished, and the US along with it.

Kremlin Presses Turkey for Access to NATO's Incirlik Air Base, Home to US Nukes

ROTFWLMFAO! Sorry! Couldn't help it!

Russian officials have reached out to Ankara to request access to the American-built base as a convenient launch pad for airstrikes in the Syrian theater, but it remains to be seen whether such cooperation will roil NATO’s feathers.

Turkey Aligns With Russia and Iran; Syria Bombed Kurds, Nearly Hit US Commandos

On the fifth anniversary of the US government declaring that Assad must go, the battle for Aleppo rages and major political and military realignments are in the works. Syria bombed Kurdish security forces (Ayaysh), with US commandos nearby. The US scrambled fighter jets, warned Syria, and now patrol that airspace. Russia has increased airstrikes and is using an air base in Iran. Russia is also deploying a combat ship to the Gulf of Aden. There are unconfirmed reports of US nuclear weapons moving from Turkey to Romania.

Failed Coup in Turkey, Escalating War in Ukraine, The Battle For Aleppo, Freedom for Saif al-Gaddafi in Libya

With the provocations in Crimea and treachery in Syria hopefully Russia will get it’s revenge by helping Syria crush this NATO terrorist invasion. Syria is on the offensive seizing back the most of the 1070 apartments and the air force technical college. They made other important gains in Damascus, Latakia, and Deir Ezzor but of course the war continues. In Libya the power of the green resistance continues to grow despite the dirty war being waged on the country by NATO. In Turkey Erdogan is on the rampage purging his opponents. In Crimea the situation is tense but thankfully the people have been spared a wave of terror bombings and assassinations thanks to the quick response of the FSB and the Russian military. Donbass remains under fire it’s plight forgotten by the outside world which continues to ignore the menace of fascism in Ukraine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, these setbacks have caused the power elite in DC to feel cornered and wounded; and there are very few things more dangerous to peace in the world than people feeling cornered and wounded.
