State Dept Warns of 'Serious Escalation' if Russia Sent S-300 to Syria

The US State Department said that if Russia sent its S-300 air defence systems to Syria, it would lead to a "serious escalation."

The United States hopes Russia did not deploy S-300 air defense systems in Syria because that would lead to a serious escalation of the situation, US Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert said during a press briefing on Tuesday.

"I cannot confirm that that is accurate. I hope that they did not, that would be a serious escalation and concern," Nauert said when asked about the administration's reaction to reports Russia sent S-300 systems to Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Department of State Spokesperson Nauert, a word please: can you possibly manage to not be quite so behind the reality curve here?!? As of today, 2 October, Russia has made that statement that it has delivered the S-300 system to Syria.

Russia completes delivery of S-300 system to Syria

Forgive me my dear, but in the worlds of my maternal grandmother, "The horse is already out of the barn."

And if I can find this today, by reading the English-language version of Sputnik, why do you feign ignorance at the reality that this is already a done deal?!?

So, Spokesperson Nauert, now what?!? Is the US or Israel going to attack Syria over the Russian delivery of the S-300?!?

Are we going to see a "false flag" happen against American base inside of Syria, to be blamed on Syria, Russia, or Iran?!? Only time will tell.

Or will saner heads prevail?!? So far, sanity, in both domestic and foreign policies, has not had a really comfortable relationship with this administration.

US Threatens To Destroy Russian Nuclear-Capable Missile System If Necessary

U.S. Ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison on Tuesday warned that the U.S. could be forced to "take out" missiles Russia is developing that violate a Cold War-era treaty. If completed, the 9M729 Russian missile system could give it the capability to launch a missile strike on Europe with little or no notice, the Associated Press reported.

"It is time now for Russia to come to the table and stop the violations," Hutchison told reporters in Brussels, where US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis would later meet his NATO counterparts. She added that if the system became operational, the U.S. "would then be looking at the capability to take out a missile that could hit any of our countries in Europe and hit America."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Does she not understand that the targeting of such a Russia weapon, whether or not is has been enabled, is an act of war?!?!

Video: Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates Further as Netanyahu Comes with New Accusations Against Tehran

On September 27, during a speech to the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Iran has a secret “atomic warehouse” near Tehran, which has contained as much as whopping 300 tons of “nuclear-related material.”

Netanyahu also stated that Hezbollah has established three precision missile sites near the Beirut airport.

“In Lebanon, Iran is directing Hezbollah to build secret sites to convert inaccurate projectiles into precision-guided missiles, missiles that can target deep inside Israel within an accuracy of 10 meters,” he stated.

Following the statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) released photos showing alleged Hezbollah sites in Beirut that the IDF said are being used to hide underground precision missile production facilities. The IDF claimed that these sites are currently being constructed with Iranian assistance.

According to the Israeli version, Hezbollah began working on these surface-to-surface missile facilities last year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation; Netanyahu will say and/or do anything to get President Trump to sign off on the US military attacking Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran.

These statements, made 27 September, feel as though they are a prelude to some kind of a false flag, probably coming soon, to be blamed upon one of the one of the above "usual suspects" (most likely, Iran), and we'll be off and running on a war for Israel, but with the primarily costs in blood and money, to be exacted from US troops.

One Click Closer to Nuclear Annihilation

There are a number of things exaggerated or incorrect in Trump’s description of Iran as well as in the conclusions he draws. The Middle East and other adjacent Muslim countries are in chaos because the United States has destabilized the region starting with the empowering of the Islamist Mujaheddin in the war against Soviet Afghanistan in the 1980s. It then invaded Afghanistan in 2001 followed by Iraq in 2003, enabling the rise of ISIS and giving local al-Qaeda affiliates a new lease on life, before turning on Damascus with the Syria Accountability Act later in the same year and then destroying the Libyan government under Barack Obama. These were, not coincidentally, policies promoted by Israel that received, as a result, bipartisan support in Congress.

‘I felt unable to move an inch, I fell on the ground,’ says sister of 12-year old Palestinian killed in deadliest day in Gaza in weeks

Friday marked one of the deadliest days at the fence that divides the Gaza Strip from Israel since protests began in Gaza last March, as Israeli forced killed seven including two children.

Four of the seven were shot dead east of Gaza City in circumstances where it appears the demonstrators posed no threat to Israeli soldiers. “Amateur videos showed them kneeling down and kissing the ground on the Israeli side as gunfire could be heard,” the AP reported.

The youngest casualties on Friday were Mohammed al-Houm, 14, and Nasser Mosabeh, 12.

The Israeli military estimated around 20,000 Palestinians protested on Friday at multiple sites along the fence. At least 509 were injured, three in serious condition, according to Gaza’s ministry of health. Additionally four paramedics, four journalists and 90 children were shot with live ammunition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

(Warning: potent graphics) Please scroll all the way down to view all the images, and let that figure sink in about how many children were shot with live ammo last Friday.

What country on God's earth, has the collective mindset which allows for the shooting of even one child, let alone 90 kids, and considers it to be perfectly normal, and justifiable?!?

Only Israel's government believes that it can do so with impunity against Palestinian children, and that there will never be a price to be paid for these actions.

But there is a Biblical injunction to which Tel Aviv needs to pay attention, and particularly at this moment in their history, even through they don't believe in that offshoot of Judaism which became Christianity: "That which you sow, you will also reap."

Scores Killed in Heavy Fighting Around Yemen’s Hodeidah Port

Saudi-backed forces are reporting heavy fighting in and around the vital aid port of Hodeidah, in northwestern Yemen. Reports suggest that over 60 were killed in the course of the day’s clashes, with 54 of them Shi’ite Houthis.

Fighting initially focused on some of the rare farms around the province, and some military positions leading into the port city itself. The port is the source of food aid for about 70% of Yemen, and the lone port under the control of the Houthi movement.

Yemen imports the vast, vast majority of its food, so a protracted battle for the last Houthi port could cut off millions in Houthi territory from any food aid at all, leading to mass starvation. The Saudi-backed forces have promised to eventually open “humanitarian routes” out of the city.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Eventually" when it comes to the Saudi foreign policy, which is engineered to starve the Houthis into submission, as they will through the control of its main port in Hodeidah, will be when pigs make the discovery that they are aerodynamic!!

And we have the following development, datelined yesterday: Hodeidah cholera cases triple after Saudi/UAE offensive.

Afghanistan Will Not Allow ‘Foreign Mercenaries': Ghani

President Ghani says Afghan forces have enough potential and have managed to save the country from “collapse”.

In reaction to the possibility of privatizing the Afghan war, President Ashraf Ghani said he will not allow “foreign mercenaries” to operate in Afghanistan.

Addressing the 3rd Mayors National Conference, the president said the Afghan government forces have enough potential and have managed to save the country from “collapse”.

“You should know that the work which is done by Afghans cannot be done by any foreign mercenary and foreign mercenaries will never be allowed in this soil,” Ghani said.

Ghani’s remarks come days after Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater security company, in an interview with TOLOnews, insisted the Afghan war will end “a few months” using his plan to send in few thousand contracted mentors to Afghanistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope and pray that President Trump will not take Prince up on his proposal; that would simply inflame the feelings of the Afghani people to the point where many more US and UN military will wind up getting shot at, maimed, and/or killed.

Saudi Arabia Admits ‘Mistakes’ in Targeting in Yemen: Investigators ask how many times Saudis can accidentally bomb same civilian targets

Addressing the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on Monday with respect to the massive civilian death toll in the Saudi invasion of Yemen, Saudi officials made rare admissions of fault, saying that they had made “mistakes” in targeting and were working hard to rectify the problem.

Saudi officials were clearly trying to use this to get a pass on the ten thousand-plus killed civilians, insisting that the internal investigations note the “mistakes,” and that perpetrators will be “held to account,” despite little evidence that this ever happened.

The UN committee didn’t appear to be sold on this idea either, with members noting the war has been going on since 2015 with no sign of prosecutions for civilian deaths. Panel chairwoman Renate Winter noted that an awfully large number of these “mistakes” had hit the same civilian targets, with several schools and hospitals hit myriad times. She asked how many times the Saudis could possibly keep making that same mistake.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Saudis will keep on making the "same mistake", because the B.O.Y. (the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Crown Prince Bin Salman) and his BFF in the Middle East, Amerika's Merchant of Death in Chief, President Trump, want to see as many kids, schools, and hospitals blown up as humanly possible, because they don't want future Yemenis growing up with a memory that Yemen, at one point, had both an independent history, and national trajectory other, than through Saudi control.

And we have a companion piece, again from antiwar.com, with the following headline: US Air Force keeps refueling Saudi warplanes in Yemen

Netanyahu: Hezbollah ‘brazenly lying’ to world about weapons sites

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy, of “brazenly lying” to the international community over the secret weapons facilities in and around Beirut, which the Israeli premier disclosed on the world stage at the United Nations General Assembly last week.

Netanyahu said in a statement Monday that Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil took 73 foreign envoys on a “fraudulent propaganda tour” of the alleged missile sites, where he failed to show them the underground facilities where Hezbollah is reportedly storing precision-guided missiles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Accusing Hezbollah of "blatantly lying"?!?!?

Mr. Prime Minister, coming from you, the irony in this charge would be utterly delicious, were it not more serious than is a heart attack, in terms of attempting to "groom' the UN in order to "justify" yet another Israeli military incursion into Lebanon.

"HILLARY SAID SO": IRAN QUOTES WIKILEAKS AT U.N. TO PROVE SAUDIS ARE STATE SPONSORS OF TERROR

Those rare moments that WikiLeaks gets invoked at the United Nations are always fun, especially when part of a tense feud between Middle East rivals and involving Hillary Clinton.

Iranian Ambassador to the UN Gholamali Khoshroo gave a fiery speech during the final days of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York wherein he responded to specific charges of Saudi Arabia that Iran sponsors terrorism and is waging proxy wars on Riyadh throughout the Middle East, saying that global terrorism actually originates with the Saudis.

The Iranian ambassador supported his case by appealing to a specific WikiLeaks email: “Everybody knows that Saudi Arabia supports terrorism in a very blatant and widespread manner,” he said. In a shock statement before his UN audience, he added, “in the framework of WikiLeaks in 2009, Hillary Clinton is said to have stated that Saudi Arabia is the greatest donor to terrorist groups around the world.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Iranian UN Ambassador Khoshroo can definitely be characterized as a gentleman with "male attributes" which click, rather loudly, on his way up to the podium at the UN!!!

Unfortunately, his statement about Saudi Arabia is horrifically valid, and the US is now aiding and abetting Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

Russian Mig-31 spotted with a mystery weapon that could be a nightmare for the US military

Planespotters found a Russian Mig-31 Foxhound taking off with a never-before-seen mystery weapon that could likely have an anti-satellite role, meaning it's a nightmare for the US military.

The Foxhound is a 1980s Soviet fighter that remains one of the fastest and highest flying jets ever built. It's ability to push Mach 3 near the edge of space with large weapons payloads makes it an ideal platform for firing anti-satellite missiles, which Russia appears to have tested in September.

One Click Closer to Annihilation

The nuclear war doomsday clock maintained on the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists website has advanced to two minutes before midnight, the closest point to possible atomic apocalypse since the end of the Cold War. In 1995 the clock was at fourteen minutes to midnight, but the opportunity to set it back even further was lost as the United States and its European allies took advantage of a weakened Russia to advance NATO into Eastern Europe, setting the stage for a new cold war, which is now underway.

It is difficult to imagine how the United States might avoid a new war in the Middle East given the recent statements that have come out of Washington, and, given that the Russians are also active in the region, a rapid and massive escalation of something that starts out as a minor incident should not be ruled out.

U.S. would destroy banned Russian warheads if necessary: NATO envoy

Russia must halt its covert development of a banned cruise missile system or the United States will seek to destroy it before it becomes operational, Washington’s envoy to NATO said on Tuesday.

The United States believes Russia is developing a ground-launched system in breach of a Cold War treaty that could allow Russia to launch a nuclear strike on Europe at short notice, but Moscow has consistently denied any such violation.

U.S. ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison said Washington remained committed to a diplomat solution but was prepared to consider a military strike if Russian development of the medium-range system continued.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I was hoping that the Secretary of the interior was just mouthing off about a naval blockade of Russia, but with this announcement it seems there is an official US government policy of belligerence towards Russia!

US military constructing new base in western Iraq near Syria border: Kurdish official

The US military is reportedly building a new base in Iraq’s western province of Anbar as part of attempts to perpetuate its occupation of the conflict-ridden Arab country indefinitely, regardless of all opposition from religious figures and people from all walks of life.

Khalil Serfan, an official from the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces, told the Arabic service of Russia’s Sputnik news agency that the base is being constructed in the vicinity of al-Qa'im town, located nearly 400 kilometers northwest of the capital Baghdad.

Serfan noted that the construction of such a military site in such a strategically important region is in line with US bids to assert its military presence there.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This site is not about ratcheting down tensions in the Middle East; this is about inflaming them tot he maximum.

US Navy Aircraft Carrier Deployments Fall as Financial Concerns Loom

US Navy aircraft carrier deployment rates around the world are at their lowest point in 25 years, USNI News recently reported, as the service copes with maintenance costs that have accrued over the 17-year War on Terror.

Just 15 percent of the Navy's carriers have been operationally deployed at a given point in 2018, USNI News calculated in a recent analysis. In the last 15 months, fewer carriers have been underway than at any point since 1992, according to the report.

What's more, "for 22 days this summer, the Navy did not have a full carrier strike group deployed anywhere in the world available for national tasking," the Navy has confirmed. The USS Abraham certified an air wing during that period, while the USS Vinson spent time at the Rim of the Pacific Exercises, which USNI counted as being unavailable for national tasking.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cover story for the fact that the carriers are in poor shape.

Chinese warship in 'unsafe' encounter with US destroyer, amid rising US-China tensions

A US Navy ship had an "unsafe" interaction with a Chinese warship Sunday while the US vessel was conducting a freedom of navigation operation near the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea, causing the US ship to maneuver "to prevent a collision," according to US defense officials.

"A (People's Republic of China) Luyang destroyer approached USS Decatur in an unsafe and unprofessional maneuver in the vicinity of Gaven Reef in the South China Sea," Capt. Charles Brown, a spokesman for US Pacific Fleet, told CNN in a statement confirming the incident.

Brown said the Chinese warship "conducted a series of increasingly aggressive maneuvers accompanied by warnings for the Decatur to depart the area."

"Without Us, Who Knows What’s Going to Happen": Trump Warns King Salman to Buy More Weapons

US President Donald Trump called on Riyadh to increase its military spending, with an eye on more weapons sale to the "rich" kingdom.
Speaking at a campaign rally in West Virginia on Saturday, the US president stressed that he had complained that Washington was not getting what it should from Saudi Arabia during a phone conversation with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Middle East News.

Trump said he had told King Salman that Riyadh has "trillions of dollars" and could pay its military bills.

"I love Saudi Arabia. They are great, King Salman, I spoke with him this morning. I said, king, you have got trillions of dollars. Without us, who knows what’s going to happen. .... With us they are totally safe. But we don’t get what we should be getting," he stated.

Trump further threatened to end what he claimed to be subsidies for the Saudi military.

US Military's Most Expensive Jet Crashes in S. Carolina

The F-35 is the US military's most expensive fighter jet, notes Foreign Policy, and the aircraft just had one of the best and worst weeks in its controversial history. The good part came on Thursday, when the Marines conducted the first-ever airstrike with its version of the jet—a successful hit against a Taliban target in Afghanistan, reports CNN. The bad part came Friday morning, when another of the Marines' F-35 jets crashed during a training mission in South Carolina, causing the pilot to safely eject. The $100 million-plus stealth jet is a total loss, and the cause is under investigation, but as the Washington Post reports, this is the first "full-blown crash" of an F-35 in the program's 17-year history.

US could use Navy for ‘blockade’ to hamper Russian energy exports – Interior Secretary

This "person"is insane IMHO!

US could use its Navy to prevent Russia’s potential energy supplies to the Middle East, Internal Secretary Ryan Zinke said, Washington Examiner reports. The blockade would actually mean an “act of war,” Russian Senator fired back.
Zinke alleged that Russia’s engagement in Syria – notably, where it is operating at the invitation of the legitimate government – is a pretext to explore new energy markets.

Washington’s Sanctions Machine

Washington’s latest foray into the world of sanctions, directed against China, is astonishing even when considering the low bar that has been set by previous presidents going back to Bill Clinton. Beijing has already been pushing back over US sanctions imposed last week on its government-run Equipment Development Department of the Chinese Central Military Commission and its director Li Shangfu for “engaging in significant transactions” with a Russian weapons manufacturer that is on a list of US sanctioned companies. The transactions included purchases of Russian Su-35 combat aircraft as well as equipment related to the advanced S-400 surface-to-air missile system. The sanctions include a ban on the director entering the United States and blocks all of his property or bank accounts within the US as well as freezing all local assets of the Equipment Development Department.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These sanctions are, unfortunately, going to boomerang right back at the Trump administration. The EU is already preparing another mechanism for trade with Iran which completely bypasses the US dollar, and Russia and China are working out a similar system.

The ultimate outcome will most likely be a crash of the US economy, because the dollar is not the currency of choice for other countries, causing it ot be devalued.

So what is Trump going to do, go to war with any nation on earth which will not be bullied and intimidated though these tactics?!?

Unfortunately, looking at his well-documented capability to go completely off the rails entirely, with no long-term logic in sight, in both his foreign and domestic policies, the short answer may well be "Yes!"

Yemen doctors despair as babies starve in 'orphaned province'

At Nasr Hospital's emergency room in the Yemeni city of Daleh, a little boy struggles to breathe. He is too tired, or too hungry, to cry.

Born with a degenerative neurological disease, his muscles have atrophied to nothing, his tiny joints visible through his pale skin, his stomach distended.

The child's body cannot retain even water, so nurses have resorted to putting him in diapers.

And doctors say there is nothing they can do.

The boy is one of an estimated five million Yemeni children who may not see their next birthday in a war the UN children's fund has described as a "living hell" for minors.

The UN has warned that international aid agencies are losing the fight against famine in Yemen, where 3.5 million people may soon be added to the eight million Yemenis already facing starvation -- more than half of them children.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The collective punishment of a people, through assassinations, the introduction of possibly weaponized diseases, destruction of water infrastructure or malnutrition, because Yemen's ports are blockaded, are all war crimes, which the Saudis, backed by their country's Leader, one of President Trump's BFF in the Middle East, the Butcher of Yemen (sometimes also known as Prince Bin Salman).

Americans, please wake up, and quickly; your country is enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

It is time to peacefully, logically call out this government for what it is; the leading global merchant of death, one of whose main spokespersons, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, lied through his teeth to Congress about the ultimate usage of US missiles by the Saudi military, to save the sales deal.Mike Pompeo lied to Congress about Yemen, to protect arms sales

I don't know how upset you are about living in a country which supports war crimes, around the world, with utter impunity... because it can; as a Christian Pacifist Activist, who never advocates violence, I am deeply concerned about the moral price of these actions over time, because there will be a reckoning, brought about by the US government's imperial hubris which characterises these war crimes as "necessary for the greater good."

The "greater good"?!? For whom, please?!? It is not for the good of We the People; it is for the profits of Those the Monied, and the banks and corporations which, essentially, in America, bankroll presidential campaigns, and drive both foreign and domestic policy.

Palestine takes US to International Court of Justice over Jerusalem embassy move

The Palestinian authority has asked the International Court of Justice to compel the US to shut down its embassy in Jerusalem, because it violates the Vienna convention, which says an embassy must be located in a host country.
The Palestinian government submitted its application to launch proceedings against the US on Friday. The 14-page complaint, released by the UN's principal judicial body, alleges that the US, as a party of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, has flouted its obligation by setting up an embassy outside the territory of the host state, Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, even though both Israel and the US are members of the UN, from which the ICJ was created, the decision on this move will only have a symbolic effect for Palestinians rather than something tangible, as the deal has already been done.

NOW BIGGEST DONOR IN ALL OF US POLITICS,SHELDON ADELSON BRINGS AN ISRAEL FIRST AGENDA TO WASHINGTON

According to publicly available campaign finance data, Sheldon Adelson – the conservative, Zionist, casino billionaire –is now the biggest spender on federal elections in all of American politics. Adelson, who was the top donor to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and the Republican Party in 2016, has cemented his role as the top political donor in the country after giving $55 million in recent months to Republicans in an effort to help the party keep its majority in both houses of Congress.

Adelson’s willingness to help the GOP stay in power is likely born out of his desire to protect the massive investment he placed in the party last election cycle. In 2016, the Republican mega-donor gave heavily to the Trump campaign and Republicans, donating $35 million to the former and $55 million to the top two Republican Super PACs — the Congressional Leadership Fund and the Senate Leadership Fund — during that election cycle.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This post, taken together with the story I just posted about the potential rising for a war against Iran, does not augur well for peace in the Middle East, with Adelson advocating war against any Middle Eastern regime which Israel does't particularly like, and a complete genocide of the Palestinian people.

IRAN WARNS SAUDIS OF "RED LINES" AND THREATENS US BASES "WILL NOT BE SAFE"

Iran has issued a number of threats on Friday following official charges made by leaders in Tehran that Saudi Arabia and the UAE funded a terrorist attack on a military parade in a southwest district last Saturday which killed 25 people, including members of the elite Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

Iranian military officials declared "red lines" against the two Gulf countries, threatening war, while in a separate statement a senior cleric said US regional bases will not be safe if "America does anything wrong".

"If America does anything wrong, their bases around Iran would not remain secure,"Ayatollah Mohammadali Movahedi Kermani was quoted as saying by Mizan news agency while leading Friday prayers in Tehran.

And simultaneously the Fars news agency quoted Brigadier General Hossein Salami, deputy head of the IRGC, as saying in reference to the Saudis and Emirates: “If you cross our red lines, we will surely cross yours. You know the storm the Iranian nation can create.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear Ayatollah Kermani and IRGC General Salami: a word, please, respectfully.

Intelligent people understand that Israel, the Emirates, the Saudis, and some forces in the US government, would stop at nothing to try to "regime change" Tehran, including supporting/funding/orchestrating a mass terror attack against the IRGC.

You need to understand that intelligent people in the US do not want a war against Iran, and as a Christian pacifist activist, I detest war as a means of resolving geopolitical differences.

But please also understand: the people of the Unhinged, Surveilled, State of Amerika have utterly no control over their government whatsoever.

Elections in this country are a very brilliantly staged, Kabuki-like display of the illusion that the American people in this country are actually in control of its future, when they are not.

Unfortunately, the cold, hard, bleak reality is that by the time candidates are presented by both Democrats and Republicans as their Presidential contenders, they have all been vetted by that dark triumverate, the American Deep State; major corporations; and the military industrial complex, to assure that the wars they want to see happen, will happen.

Also, unfortunately, Iran has been on both Israel's and the US's "regime change" list ever since it's 1979 revolution.

And so, this fall, we have "the perfect storm" situation signaling an attack against Iran, in that we have a sitting President, President Trump, whose BFFs in the Middle East are the Butcher of Palestine (a.k.a. Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu, and Saudi Arabia's Butcher of Yemen (a.k.a. Prince Mohammed bin Salman).

The timing of such an attack may well happen just before the mid-term elections happen here in the US. President Trump has issued his "drop dead date edict", that no country will be allowed to purchase Iranian oil after Sunday, 4 November, or suffer dire economic consequences

Tuesday, 6 November is the date of the US's midterms. I would suspect that such an attack against Iran might well be planned right around those dates, in order to make President Trump look "butch" to the voting electorate.

Unfortunately, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do, is no guarantee that it won't do it.

US Evacuating Consulate In Iraq, Citing Threats From Iran

On Friday the State Department announced it is evacuating all non-essential personnel from the US consulate in Basra, Iraq.

The drastic move comes after a month of heavy anti-Iran and anti-Iraqi government protests that have gripped the southern city, which has led to sectarian rioting and the burning of Shia militia buildings, as well as the torching of the Iranian consulate early this month. During the first week of September the US embassy in Baghdad's green zone also came under attack by mortar fire, which US officials and military analysts blamed on Iran-backed militias.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cited threats from Iran as the reason for ordering the Basra consulate evacuation, and in a separate statement a senior US official confirmed to CNN that the "ordered departure" was due to "security threats from Iran."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, things are starting to escalate here against Iran, big-time.

Removing consular staff because of "threats" is most generally going to be one the steps before outright war against the accused country, whether or not that accused country is actually the culprit.

US Intel Officials Publicly Contradict Netanyahu's UN Speech On "New" Iran Atomic Facility

Netanyahu's Thursday UN General Assembly speech predictably included the familiar props and visuals condemning Iran over what the Israeli prime minister says is a continuing nuclear program it is hiding from the world's view.

Like pretty much all prior Netanyahu speeches focusing on Iran, he held up a physical "evidence" to illustrate his points as he spoke — this time it was a "proof" that Iran has yet another secret warehouse holding nuclear-related material in the form of an aerial photograph of the Iranian capital marked with a red arrow pointing to a large building.

Though this was perhaps a step up from the cartoon bomb performance at the UNGA in 2012, the act is now a fixture and entirely predictable after many others spanning years, barely eliciting much media excitement compared to six years ago.

But unlike the last number of similar speeches, US intelligence officials have told Reuters that the claims are not true.

Is Trump Eyeing A Coup In Venezuela?

The Trump administration and some others in the U.S. government have sent some not-so-subtle hints lately that they are open to a military invasion of Venezuela to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

“It’s a regime that frankly could be toppled very quickly by the military, if the military decides to do that,” President Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

The words seem to offer some encouragement for a coup, which may not come as a surprise because the New York Times published an investigation in early September that found that the Trump administration met secretly with Venezuelan military officers over the last year to discuss an overthrow of Maduro.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is typical US Federal Government hubris; regime change, sometimes leading to brutal civil wars (think Afghanistan; Libya; Iraq;and Yemen); have the next leader infinitely more US-centric in his or her leanings than was their predecessor, and insure that the resources of that country are only sold in US dollars.

Erik Prince Thinks He Can Turn Around The War In Afghanistan With 6 Months And 3,600 Men

The former founder and CEO of Blackwater says he needs just six months and roughly 3,600 men to make the Afghan War look far different from the shitshow it is now.

In an interview with Afghanistan’s TOLO News, Erik Prince once again pitched his idea to privatize the nearly-17-year-old conflict, offering up a force of “contracted veteran mentors” from the United States and NATO countries to serve alongside Afghan security forces.

“Well, I would say six months after the program is fully ramped up, you have a very different situation on the ground, I will commit to that,” Prince said, outlining a plan to provide 36 contractors for each unit of Afghan security forces, who would serve for two to four years at a time.

Yes, you read that right: Erik Prince says he can turn the war around in six months while suggesting his contractors could be there for at least four years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have two words with which to describe this scenario; utterly delusional!!

Russia outraged at NATO’s near daily ‘erroneous’ strikes in AfghanistanMore:http://tass.com/politics/1023318?_ga=2.146888500.281115422.1537849482-363929275.1477368173

Moscow is outraged at NATO’s "errant" attacks in Afghanistan, which have become almost a daily reality, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"We are outraged at the fact that NATO’s ‘errant’ attacks in the country have become almost a daily reality, while no one has been held responsible," the statement reads.

"We believe that the current situation is a result of gross miscalculations the US made in Afghanistan and the White House’s reliance on the use of military force to resolve the situation in the country. We call on Washington to reconsider its short-sighted policy and opt for diplomatic measures aimed at launching an inter-Afghan dialogue," the Russian Foreign Ministry said, adding that Moscow called "for bringing those responsible for crimes against civilians to justice."

Webmaster's Commentary:

And where, please, is American outrage that so many innocents are assassinated daily by US/NATO troops?!?

Because the corporate Presstitutes, Warmongers never show us the images of the dead, twisted bodies of children who have been murdered, or maimed for life, because that is what the Diktat from the White House is: don't show those non-combatants what this war is like.

Well if they don't, my friends, as a Christian Pacifist Activist, I am duty-bound to show you the realities of this war, and witness to the hideous destruction of this country, courtesy of the US and NATO... And warning; these are atrociously graphic.

Af

Images: Afghani children dead and dying from disease and starvation

IF these images nearly caused you to lose your lunch, congratulations; you may yet be at least a little human.

But it is high time that we peacefully and politely called our (alleged) Congressional Representatives, and told them that 17 years of this horrific military misadventure is quite enough.

Apparently, post-Vietnam, our military has never quite absorbed the reality that you cannot fight what is essentially a ground war from the air.

We have to peacefully and logically protest, to get our thoughts known, and call our and NATO'S military....home.

Pentagon admits war on Isis has killed more than 1,100 civilians in Syria and Iraq

The US-led coalition fighting against Isis in Syria and Iraq admitted to killing at least 1,114 civilians in air and artillery strikes in the four-year span of the war.

Inherent Resolve, the codename for the US-dominated coalition combating the jihadi group, said it had launched a total of 30,008 strikes on suspected Isis targets between August 2014 and August 2018, and that each allegation of civilian casualties has been investigated.

It is a significant number but far less than the more than 6,000 people assessed to have been killed by independent monitors.

“We continue to employ thorough and deliberate targeting and strike processes to minimise the impact of our operations on civilian populations and infrastructure,” said a press release issued by the Pentagon. “This process includes thorough review and vetting of each target package prior to a strike, and another review after that strike.”

Confusion swirls over Isis's role in Iran terror attack

Hey, those numbers are something President Trump should be happy about; when it comes to being the "Assassination Nation" to the world, the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika is absolutely NUMBER ONE!!

Suicide Rate Rises Among Young US Veterans - Study

Suicides by young veterans, aged 18 to 34, dramatically increased from 2015 to 2016, new data released by the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) shows.

The VA's National Suicide Data Report shows that of every 100,000 veterans in that age group, 45 committed suicide in 2016, which is an increase from 40.4 of 100,000 in 2015.

In 2016, that means roughly 0.045 percent of troops in that age group took their own lives.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sun Tzu indicated in "The Art of War", that people had to believe they were on the right side of history; unfortunately, with the most current study of history, that has not been proven the case with the Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika. In fact, the outcomes to these wars such as Iraq, Afghanistan, were initiated under absolutely false pretenses, and our military sees what it is up against, when they have been "in country" for a while.

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are economic, the man was entirely correct. And when these soldiers see how they are being used in the "great race" for international resources, sometimes they snap; it is a normal reaction when you understand that these wars are not about peace, justice, and protecting "The American Way of Life", as we are so frequently told, and the introduction of a democratic, elected government to the nation we have invaded; it is about having a Western-centric government in place, and resources only sold for the US dollar.

Trade War Heightens Military Tensions Between US & China

The trade war is ratcheting up military tensions between the United States and China. So far, this war is being paid for by the American consumer in the form of higher costs and lost jobs, but it could eventually lead to a military conflict.

Military tensions have risen in the beginning stages of the trade war when on Tuesday, China refused to allow U.S. warship entry to Hong Kong next month. The Trump administration levied unprecedented penalties last week on a Chinese military procurement agency and its director for allegedly purchasing Russian combat aircraft, claiming a violation of U.S. sanctions. Not to mention the tensions already heightened thanks to the tariffs and ongoing trade war threatening to break the wallets of American citizens.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These are the kind of actions one expects from an empire in decline; and the economic and social convulsions in this country are getting stronger by the day.

War, which one could define as a government's "misdirection" of public anger over domestic problems which have gone unheeded for far too long, like America's infrastructure, education, and affordable housing, and placing it on "The Other", this time a very smart, forward-thinking China.

It is a way of letting the show go on just a little bit longer for the monied, and all wars are banker's wars; but the problem is, ultimately, the Western economic system is engineered to collapse under its own economic weight; the graveyards are bigger, and everything that was plundered in war, will have to be rebuilt.

It is a cycle which continues to plague the Western world, and they haven't been able to think their way out of it.

Trump Deviates from the Israel-first Agenda at the UN

Trump deviated from the script during his UN address.

He declared the solution to the “Israeli Palestinian conflict” is the establishment of two separate states, something the Likudniks not only in Israel but the United States certainly will not consider, let alone tolerate. It is plainly and painfully obvious what the Likudniks want—the expulsion of every last Palestinian, a process that should be called ethnic cleansing but never is by the corporate media.

There isn’t an “Israeli Palestinian conflict” that requires a peace deal brokered by Jared Kushner, a personal friend of Bibi Netanyahu. The conflict was long ago manufactured by the Israelis for the explicit purpose of either forcing Palestinians to emigrate or stay behind and risk snipers murdering their children.

The effort to establish a purely racist and religious state—where only Jews are allowed to live as citizens—was nudged along by Israel’s “National Home” law passed in the Knesset in July.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Boy, that is one impressive "To Do" list for the American military.

And NO, New York Times, Israel's Basic Law (which treats the Palestinians as absolutely non-existent, 2nd class citizens), can NOT serve as Israel's Constitution; a Constitution needs to voted upon by members of Parliament, or in this case, the Knesset, in order to become the rule of law.

I am willing to bet that right after the mid-terms,
I would suspect that Israel will "fake President Trump out" with a false flag, and fool him into making a move against Russia, Iran, or Syria, perhaps all of them on Syrian soil.

IF and when that happens, watch for all hell to break loose.

And no matter which party will be in control of Congress in these mid-terms, I fully expect to see the reinstitution of the draft in this country; after all, the wealthy and monied ALWAYS manage to keep their families from being hit by conscription.

Via arms and trade, Russia plots long-term Syrian future

The same day that Russian diplomats struck a deal with Turkey over a demilitarized zone in Syria’s last rebel-run region, dozens of Russian businessmen were flying home from Damascus, contracts in hand for trade with a postwar Syria.

Whatever happens to the rebels in Idlib province, Russia is determined to keep Syria solidly anchored in its sphere of influence over the long term — both as a foothold in the Middle East and as a warning to the U.S. and its allies against future interference.

“Russia wants … a new Mideast security order,” said Emile Hokayem, Middle East security expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

While Russia is blamed for widespread death and destruction as it supports Syrian President Bashar Assad, its forces have proven decisive in the international struggle against the Islamic State group, giving Moscow a credibility that Western powers lack. “Their intervention yielded much better returns than anyone expected,” Hokayem said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President has been utterly irrelevant in the community of nations regarding Syria since the day the statement was made that the US was going to stay in Syria past the time when ISIS had been defeated.

HOUSE RESOLUTION DIRECTS TRUMP TO END U.S. SUPPORT FOR YEMEN WAR

IN CONGRESS, FRUSTRATION with the U.S. role in Yemen is nearing a breaking point. Sen. Bob Menendez — the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee — is holding up a $2 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates over concerns that the two countries routinely bomb civilian targets. Meanwhile, in the House, U.S. assistance to the Saudi- and UAE-led coalition is about to face another major hurdle.

On Wednesday, California Democrat Ro Khanna introduced a resolution invoking the 1973 War Powers Act, declaring that Congress never authorized U.S. support for the coalition in Yemen and directing President Donald Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from “hostilities” against the Houthis, the Iranian-backed rebel group at war with Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The resolution would not affect U.S. forces who are on the ground in Yemen fighting Al Qaeda.

The US Isn’t Just Backing the Yemen War – It’s Helping Trap Those Forced To Flee

By now, the images are infamous: stunned, bloodied Yemeni children arriving at the hospital after their summer camp bus was bombed by Saudi aircraft. The United States is deeply implicated in that August 9 attack, which killed 54 people – most of them children

Fragments from the bomb bear the labels of U.S. weapons manufacturers. The indefensible nature of the bombing – there were no combatants anywhere in sight – has garnered headlines and even attention on Capitol Hill, opening a new conversation about US involvement in the years-long siege of Yemen by a coalition headed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am disgusted with my government, many members of which allegedly identify as Christians, but who SO love, LOVE, LOVE the concept of infants getting torn apart, killed and maimed for life with US-made weapons, and making sure that the profits of their warmonger campaign contributors are protected. And folks, this is what this war looks like on ground for Yemeni kids: (warning: graphic images)

Yemeni children, killed and maimed for life from US-enabled Saudi bombings

Images: Yemeni children starving to death from malnutrition, due to US-enabled Saudi port blockades

Yemeni children sick and dying by (possibly weaponized) cholera.

And there is another article to which I would like you to pay attention, again from antiwar.com, as follows:

In Yemen and beyond, US arms manufacturers are abetting crimes against humanity

The US government has been complicit in aiding and abetting Saudi war crimes in Yemen, which means that WE, as citizens of this country, are also complicit, until we collectively, and peacefully, have a dialogue with our alleged representatives in Congress, and demand that this country stop aiding and abetting these war crimes in Yemen. And if your Congressional Representative is up for re-election this year, tell them that failure on their part to do this, is an election loser for them, and you are looking forward to their progress in making this happen, before the mid-terms.

And one last article on the issue, and let your Congressional representative understand that this exists:

Bi-Partisan House Bill Aims to Stop US Military Involvement in the Yemen War.

Please tell your Representative, calmly and peacefully, that you fully expect them to support this bill.

Ahwaz Attacks: Is Saudi Arabia Taking The War Inside Iran?

Less than a month after Iran’s consulate in Basra was attacked, a group of terrorists claiming to be members of the Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz attacked a military parade in the capital of Iran’s Khuzestan province, killing 25 people and wounding many more. When the Basra consulate incident took place , some commentators in Iran speculated that the attackers also wanted to target Khorramshahr and Abadan. Now it seems that they were not too wrong.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am thinking here that Saudi Arabia would like to destabilize Iran from the inside, and unfortunately, by not taking care of its people in its outlying areas, the Iranian government is making people "ripe for acquisition" to join a jihad against the current government.

I think that the "trigger" for any attack against Iran, either by Saudi Arabia, the US and/or Israel, may well be President Trump's "drop dead date", 4 November, past which he has decreed that the world can no longer buy Iranian oil, or be economically sanctioned.

There is a companion piece I would like to share here, again from antiwar.com: EU Foreign Policy Chief wants Iran Clearing House Open before November.

Folks, the first of October is next Monday, and I would thoroughly encourage and urge EU Leader, Federica Mogherini, to get such a mechanism in place as quickly as possible, and no later than mid-October.

Saudi-Backed Yemen ‘President’ Dismisses Peace Talks as Doomed to Fail

Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, the Saudi-backed “president” of Yemen, spoke at the UN General Assembly today, dismissing the idea of any further attempts at peace talks with the Houthi movement as “doomed to fail.”

Hadi was installed as the Yemeni President in a US and UN-backed move after the Arab Spring. He was nominally “elected” in a vote in which he was the only allowed candidate. He was given a two-year term, starting in 2012. That has long since expired, though he maintains he is the legitimate president, and the Saudis maintain reinstalling him is the purpose of their war in Yemen.

Hadi’s attempts to cling to power, and to violently crush the Shi’ite Houthis led to his initial expulsion from the country, and the Saudi-led war intends to put him back. Hadi insists that there is no point in talks with the “gangster-like” Houthis, and continues to refer back to UN Security Council resolutions from years ago calling for the Houthis to surrender all territory to Hadi.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, you heard it from the horse's mouth here; Al-Hadi is determined that the Saudis bring more death, starvation, disease, maiming, and pain to Yemen to "avenge" his alleged "presidency" of Yemen.

Israeli cabinet orders army to continue acting against ‘Iran’s entrenchment’ in SyriaMore:http://tass.com/world/1023002?_ga=2.158470585.281115422.1537849482-363929275.1477368173

Netanyahu’s security cabinet ordered the Israeli Defense Forces to continue to act against Iran’s military build-up in Syria without stopping coordination on Syria with the Russian military, the cabinet said in a statement released by the Israeli government press service.

"The cabinet instructs the IDF to continue to act against Iran’s military entrenchment efforts in Syria while continuing security coordination with Russia," the security cabinet said in a statement. The ministers share the pain of the Russian people over the death of the Russian plane’s [Il -20 - TASS] crew as a result of the actions of the Syrian army, the document says.

In order to safeguard the military forces of the two states from sudden clashes on Syrian territory, in the fall of 2015 Israel and Russia established a de-confliction mechanism, with a special coordination center created at Israel’s headquarters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The two things the Israeli military are being ordered to do, prevent Iranian military activity in Syria, while maintaining coordination with Russia, are mutually exclusive; at some juncture, the Israel military will wind up hitting either a Russian, Syrian, or Iranian aircraft, at which point, all bets will be off.

Report: Yemen Civilian Deaths Skyrocketing Since June

Escalations of the Saudi-led war in Yemen, including the attack on the Yemeni port city of al-Hodeidah, has seen the already huge civilian death toll of the war skyrocket, up 164% just since June.

According to the International Rescue Committee, the month of August was by far the worst of the year, with a single nine-day period leaving nearly 500 civilians killed. They noted that on- third of Saudi airstrikes have hit non-military targets.

It is unsurprising that August would be such a particularly deadly month, with a Saudi airstrike early in the month hitting a school bus full of children, killing 51 of them. Saudi officials long maintained that the attack was “legitimate,” but there was never any question the victims were civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ah, but you see, Saudi Arabia's B.O.Y. ( the Butcher of Yemen, Prince Bin Salman), and his BFF, aka the American Merchant of Death in Chief and (unfortunately it's President as well), LOVES those huge figures, and wishes there could be even more assassinations of women, infants, and the medically fragile elderly.

They are just angry and aggravated that the taking of Hodeidah has been so slow, because they want to capture it in tact, and not in pieces.

S-300s in, Patriots out: US to withdraw missiles from 3 Middle East countries – report

The Pentagon will remove four batteries of PAC-3 Patriot missiles from three Middle-Eastern countries, according to the Wall Street Journal. The report said the missiles are needed elsewhere to counter China and Russia.
The US newspaper said Jordan and Bahrain will lose one battery of US long-range anti-aircraft missiles next month, while Kuwait will part with two. The systems are not meant to be replaced, so the withdrawal would permanently reduce the defensive capabilities of the three nations. The systems are already offline and are being prepared to be moved, a military source told the WSJ.

The report would not disclose where the Patriot missiles would be redeployed, but said it was part of the Pentagon’s strategy of changing focus from the Middle East towards China and Russia, which were named as the main threats to US global interests in the Trump administration’s defense strategy review.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the Federal Government of the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika, has declared that Russia and China are going to be the next "problem children" in the global community of countries?!?

God help us; do they really intend to go to war in Syria against Russia? The following statement was just announced three days ago: Trump to keep troops Syria until Iran leaves

After the mid-terms, were I a betting woman, I would possibly bet that there may well be a reinstitution of the Draft in this country.

Crumbling dominance: US aircraft carriers in worst shape in decades - report

The US Navy’s aircraft carriers, a key tool in projection of military power, apparently spend most of their time in the dock for maintenance, not on deployment. They are in their worst shape in decades, a new report has found.
Analysis of deployment data for the past 50 years show that the US Navy currently has fewer carriers than ever, the United States Naval Institute (USNI) reported Wednesday. Only 15 percent of them were committed to operational deployments this year, compared to a 28 percent average for the rest of the era of the War on Terror. For 22 days this summer the Navy did not have a single aircraft carrier group underway anywhere in the world – the longest such gap in the entire 50 years studied.

AS MEDICAL MARIJUANA BECOMES MORE ACCEPTED, VETERANS URGE THE VA TO PRESCRIBE IT

Though medical marijuana is legal in most states, the Department of Veterans Affairs will neither recommend nor prescribe it because of a longstanding federal law.

Julio Ochoa reports that veterans are pushing Congress and the VA to change federal policies on medical marijuana.
Charles Claybaker spent five tours in Afghanistan, kicking in doors and taking out terrorists. But an aircraft crash in 2010 left the Army Ranger with a crushed leg, hip and spine and a traumatic brain injury.

Army doctors loaded him up with a dozen prescriptions to numb the pain and keep his PTSD in check.

But Claybaker said the pills transformed him from a highly-trained fighter into a zombie for at least two hours a day.

"I'm talking mouth open, staring into space," Claybaker said.

Claybaker decided he would rather live in constant pain. He took himself off opioids and suffered for eight months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That our Vets cannot get this from the VA is an absolute outrage; but unfortunately, the drug companies do not want to give up their profits from many times harmful and symptom-causing medications the VA doctors are prescribing now.

An Ever Increasing Number of Military Ships Arrives to the Eastern Mediterranean

The last couple weeks in the Eastern Mediterranean could remind a casual observer of some sort of a military parade, with members of the US-led coalition bringing an ever increasing number of military assets to the region.

The number of warships flying various flags being dispatched as a show of force to the Eastern Mediterranean has been increasing on a daily basis. The warships of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2, including HNLMS De Ruyter of the Royal Netherlands Navy, Greece’s Elli,HMCS Ville de Québec of the Royal Canadian Navy, and four American Tomahawk-wielding destroyers – USS Carney, USS Ross, USS Winston S. Churchill and USS Bulkeley. Even the flagship of the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet USS Mount Whitney made an appearance in the region together with at least three of the multi-purpose Los Angeles class nuclear submarines, one of which was the USS Newport News, which was previously stationed in Gibraltar.

As I said in a previous column, Donald Trump’s appointments of John Bolton as National Security Advisor, Gina Haspel as CIA Director, Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State and Nikki Haley as the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. are the formation of a full-fledged War Cabinet.

The signs are ubiquitous that Trump plans to take America to war against Iran and Syria in much the same way that G.W. Bush took us to war against Iraq and Afghanistan. All it will take is another false flag attack that can be blamed on Iran.

Russia’s Su-57 jet gets hypersonic missile that can shoot down enemy aircraft ‘300km away’

A hypersonic anti-aircraft missile with a range of over 300km will be part of the arsenal of the Su-57, Russia’s most-advanced multipurpose fighter jet. The weapon is meant to take out high-value targets with impunity.

The Su-57 is Russia’s first 5th-generation aircraft, designed to be a formidable threat to major air powers such as the US. It is normally expected to carry weapons in its internal bays, to reduce radar cross-section and avoid compromising its stealth capabilities. But larger missiles may be carried externally at a hardpoint, and one of those will be the R-37M, a missile with a greater range than anything the US aircraft would have at their disposal.

Naked Emperors Don't Get Much Respect

What happens when most of your military infrastructure is suddenly obsolete?

The emperor was the last to realize he was naked. This is not unusual, emperors are the last to find out anything. Who has the fortitude to tell them the truth, especially an upsetting truth? And so it is with the US’s empire, the existence of which most of its citizens, media organs, and officials are unaware or won’t acknowledge. The truth is, the American empire, acknowledged or not, is over. It will be years before that’s accepted by the governing class. They’ll never officially inform their subjects, who are stuck with the tab for its immensely wasteful spending.

Priorities of the Time: Peace

For as long as anyone can remember violence and conflict have been part of daily life: humanity appears incapable of living peacefully together. There are the brutal cries of war, the vile acts of terror, homicides, rapes and assaults of all kinds. People everywhere long for an end to such conflicts, and are crying out for peace and understanding, to live in a just world free from fear.

Creating a world at peace not only demands putting an end to all forms of armed brutality, it also entails building peace within communities, in the workplace, educational institutions and the home, in the natural environment and, most importantly, it requires the inculcation of harmony within all of us. Each of these areas of living are interconnected, the prevailing condition in each affecting the stability and atmosphere of the other.

Iran video threatens missile strikes on UAE, Saudi Arabia

An Iranian media outlet close to the hard-line Revolutionary Guard published a video Tuesday threatening missile attacks on the capitals of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, further raising tensions after a weekend militant attack on an Iranian military parade.

The video, in a tweet by the semi-official Fars news agency that was later deleted, comes as Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed Riyadh and Abu Dhabi for the attack in the city of Ahvaz on Saturday, which killed at least 24 people and wounded over 60.

The threat amplifies the unease felt across the Persian Gulf, as Iran’s economy reels in the wake of America’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and Saudi and Emirati forces are bogged down in their war against Iran-aligned rebels in Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This hit-piece reeks of an Israeli intelligence job, seeking to get more empathy by characterising itself (as it so frequently does) as "the victim" here, when the victims were Iranian soldiers of the Revolutionary Guards.

The fact that the statement from Khameni was excerpted from a far earlier speech, rather than being a statement on current events, is also another hit on its credibility and authenticity.

Look for a US/Israeli "false flag" to hit in some neighboring country, as the "justification" for the US and Israel to start pounding Iran militarily in the not too distant future.

US Vows to “Overthrow” Iran as Terrorists Target Iranians

The failure of the US and British governments to now wholly condemn the recent Ahvaz attack as an act of terrorism carried out by what is undeniably a terrorist organization, alone raises suspicions. However, US policy papers have revealed a long-term open conspiracy to back armed militancy in Iran, just as the US, UK, and their allies have been exposed currently doing in nearby Syria as well as Libya in 2011.

As Iran grieved in the wake of the Ahvaz attack, US politicians hosted MEK terrorists in New York, vowing to overthrow the Iranian government.

Reuters in their article, “Trump lawyer Giuliani says Iran’s government will be overthrown,” would report:

President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani on Saturday said that U.S. sanctions on Iran are leading to economic pain that could lead to a “successful revolution” contrasting with administration comments that government change in Tehran is not U.S. policy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The use of hired assassins by the US government, as a tool of statecraft, is so morally repugnant to me that I do not know where to begin.

Was there ever a time in the history when the American government actually understood the concept of moral, hard-won negotiations, and used them as the way in which to achieve its geopolitical objectives?!?

IF there were times when the US government conducted itself this way, those days are truly long gone.

Rabbis for Human Rights in Solidarity with Bedouin Community, Celebrate Sukkot at Khan al-Ahmar

Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) announced on that they have set up sukkah’s, which are temporary tents constructed for use during the week-long Jewish holiday of Sukkot, in the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem.

RHR decided to set up sukkah’s at the Bedouin village to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, to show solidarity with the residents and as a protest against Israel’s planned demolition of the village.

RHR said, in a statement,

“We will express solidarity with our Bedouin brothers and we will live as they do for a little bit. We will remember that our forefathers lived as free human beings for 40 years in the Sinai Desert.”

“We will sit during Sukkot in the Judean Desert during the seven days of the holiday. We will live a life of confidence in our temporary quarters, together with members of the Jahalin tribe, who have been living in this vulnerable situation for years.”

But there is another dimension to the story that the international media has largely chosen to ignore. And that is that Israel is now carrying out almost daily air attacks on Syria, over 200 in the past 18 months, a country with which it is not at war and which has not attacked it or threatened it in any way. It justifies the attacks by claiming that they are directed against Iran or Hezbollah, not at Syria itself. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that any peace settlement in Syria include the complete removal of Iranians, a demand that has also been repeated by the United States, which is also calling for the end to the Bashar al-Assad government and its replacement by something more “democratic.”

Bolton Slams Russia, Says S-300 Sale in Syria Is ‘Significant Escalation’

Speaking to reporters on Monday, National Security Adviser John Bolton slammed Russia for the announced sale of S-300 air defense systems to the Syrian government, demanding that they “reconsider” and warning that the US would view this as a “significant escalation” of the Syrian war.

Russia announced the move after a recent attack on the Syrian coast by Israel, during which a Russian Il-20 was shot down. Russia says the more advanced S-300s will be safer. Israel had insisted Syria deliberately attacked the Russian plane, while Russia says the Israeli jets were under fire from Syria and “hid” behind the larger Russian plane, getting it caught in the fire.

Bolton dismissed both of those explanations, however, saying that “really the party responsible for the shooting down of the Russian plane is Iran,” even though Iran had no involvement in the incident whatsoever.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a double-Picard face palm upon reading these statements, and one has to wonder; is being able to lie with impunity to the people with whom you are speaking the most significant requirement of America's National Security Advisor?!?

And please, how is Russia's sending in a defensive weapons system so that Syria can protect itself from attack, an "escalation", when the Syrians, with Russian help, have pretty successfully routed the rebels in their country?!? As my late grandmother would have said, "The horse is already out of the barn" here.

All of the above is because US intervention in Syria failed, miserably, and Bashar Al Assad has pretty much taken his country back. That why Bolton is at his hubristic, unhinged worst in these statements, and why the "next US-generated war" in the region will be engineered to change that outcome.

Advisor Bolton knows precisely where he wants this kind of intense anti-Russian demonization to steer the American people, and that most probably is into an horrendous war against Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, for good measure, with Russia, and possibly China lining up with these countries to defend them against the US onslaught.

And unfortunately, just as has happened with Iraq right before the US invasion/occupation, (Saddam, allegedly, had weapons of mass destruction, remember?!?), we are being force-fed a false narrative with which to "ease" the American public into the right mindset to allow for some kind of "false flag" against American interests, to be blamed on Russia, Iran,or Syria, or all of them, as the "justification" to proceed to war against them.

Russian Su-35 Pilot Says He Intercepted US F-22 Raptor Over Syria

The well-known military analysis site Defence-Blog reported on Monday that a Russian Su-35S fighter jet intercepted a U.S. F-22 Raptor combat aircraft over Syria recently. If confirmed it would be hugely significant given the fact that the F-22 is the Pentagon's most advanced stealth fighter.

The report originated through a retired Russian pilot's Instagram account and was subsequently analyzed by Defence Blog; however the Pentagon is denying the accuracy the claim. The Russian pilot reportedly flies an Su-35, considered Russia's top jet fighter, and the pilot posted pictures claiming to show a US F-22 Raptor stealth jet flying above Syria, with the Russian pilot in firing position.

The Su-35 pilot claims to have locked on to the F-22 during the intercept and has posted the photos as proof, but neither Russia nor the US has acknowledged the event.

Saudi Coalition to Open Humanitarian Corridors Out of Yemen’s Hodeidah Port

On Monday, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition attacking Yemen announced that they will open a humanitarian corridor out of the vital aid port of Hodeidah. The corridor is intended to allow aid deliveries to the capital city of Sanaa.

The decision is being done in coordination with the UN. Officials did not say when this corridor would be opened, but it would only allow travel parts of the day through certain routes. Hodeidah is the lone source of food aid for all of northern Yemen, and is estimated to feed about 70% of the entire country.

With Saudi-led forces attacking Hodeidah, and cutting off all supply routes, materially no aid is coming out of the city right now. This had led aid groups to warn that Yemen will run out of food in the next two months, leading to mass starvation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I will believe this only when I see it happen, and not one second before it happens.

US Threatens War Against Iran If ‘American Interests’ Are Targeted

Tensions between the US and Iran have been on the rise in the past several days, with Iran blaming US-backed groups for a Saturday terrorist attack, and Trump aide Rudolph Giuliani vowing an impending US-imposed regime change against Iran the same day.

With talk of Iran doing something in retaliation for the terror attack, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is now leading US comments threatening war against Iran, if the Iranians target any sort of “American interests.”

“We will not let Iran get away with using a proxy force to attack an American interest,” Pompeo insisted, adding when asked about military options that “they’re going to be held accountable.” The S has been threatening to attack Iran for decades now.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sides appear to be lining up for the next world war, as we are seeing the signs and symptoms of some great catastrophe, which would most probably have its start in the Middle East, somewhere.

What I see, in terms of the players, is that Iran will align with India, Syria, China, and Russia; the US will align with Israel, NATO, and Saudi Arabia.

As to when it is going to happen, I cannot tell you; but I would look at the "drop dead date" President Trump has given the rest of the world as the final date by which they can purchase Iranian oil without penalty, as most probably the trigger for something larger scale to happen.

That date, coming swiftly upon us, is Sunday, 4 November, two days before mid-term elections are held in the US.

I hope to heck that I am absolutely, completely, wrong on what I am interpreting by reading texts, and subtexts, of statements by government officials world-wide.

But looking at the unrelenting, on-going corporate presstitute demonization of Russia, Syria, China, and Iran, it is very difficult for me to reach an alternate conclusion that makes any sense at all.

RUSSIA BEEFS UP SYRIA'S AIR DEFENSES - TELLS "HOTHEADS" TO COOL DOWN

The Russian Minister of Defense today announced some of the measures to be taken in Syria in response to last weeks destruction of its electronic warfare plane with 15 airmen on board. Yesterday the Russian MoD held Israel responsible for the incident.

Shortly after the event happened we noted:

On Netanyahu's personal request Russia had stopped the delivery of original Russian S-300 long range air-defense missiles to the Syrian military. These would have been less likely to veer off towards the wrong target. In consequence an Iranian 747 was damaged and 15 Russian soldiers were killed. Netanyahu can forget about any further such 'favors' from Moscow.
Yesterday we added:

The incident will have consequences on several levels. For one - the airspace along the Syrian coast will now be off limits for Israeli flights
...

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Russia has done in Syria, is to literally create a "no-fly zone" over Syria's borders, and whatever military dares come into this closed airspace does so at its pilots' peril.

America Is Quietly Expanding Its War In Tunisia

Last month, a U.S. Africa Command spokesperson confirmed in a Task & Purpose report that Marine Corps Raiders were involved in a fierce battle in 2017 in an unnamed North African country, where they fought beside partner forces against militants of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). AFRICOM acknowledged that two Marines received citations for valor but withheld certain details, such as the location - undisclosed due to “classification considerations, force protection, and diplomatic sensitivities.” The command also said the Marine Special Operations unit was engaged while on a three-day train, advise and assist operation. However, subsequent research and analysis strongly suggest U.S. involvement runs much deeper. In fact, the dramatic events described in the award citations obtained by Task & Purpose align with those that took place in Tunisia, which has been combatting a low-level insurgency in its western borderlands for the past seven years.

Sub builder Electric Boat injects millions into Groton expansion

Submarine builder Electric Boat has announced plans for an $850 million shipyard expansion in Connecticut.

The Day reports the company released plans for expanding its Groton shipyard Thursday as it prepares to build a new class of ballistic missile submarines.

Electric Boat says it plans to construct a new assembly facility and a floating dry dock.

The environmental consulting company helping with the project says the facilities will allow Electric Boat to bring the submarine materials to the site by water and help reduce construction traffic.

STATE DEPARTMENT TEAM LED BY FORMER RAYTHEON LOBBYIST PUSHED MIKE POMPEO TO SUPPORT YEMEN WAR BECAUSE OF ARMS SALES

Mike Pompeo faced internal opposition to U.S. support for the war in Yemen from State Department staff, according to a recent report. The staffers had become concerned by the rising civilian death toll in the war being carried out by Persian Gulf monarchies, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates — not only owing to bombings of densely populated areas, but also a humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the fighting, with up to 8.4 million people at risk of starvation.

Those concerns, however, were overruled after Pompeo discussed the matter with the State Department’s legislative affairs team. The legislative affairs staff, according to the Wall Street Journal, argued that restricting U.S. support would endanger billions of dollars in future weapons sales, including a massive sale of precision-guided munitions between Raytheon, a U.S. weapons manufacturer, and Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Top US Diplomat Sustained Support for Yemen War to Protect $2B in Weapon Sales

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo decided to continue US funding and military support for the Saudi-led coalition devastating Yemen with its blockade of the vital port city of Hodeidah and relentless bombings of civilians and civil infrastructure.

On September 12, Secretary Pompeo certified to Congress that the Saudi-led coalition, which includes the United States and the United Arab Emirates are "undertaking demonstrable actions to reduce the risk of harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure." The statement came within hours of a coalition airstrike on a bus station that left 27 civilians dead.

Yemen’s Hodeida Offensive: Once Avoidable, Now Imminent

The coalition’s strategy seems to be to seal the Houthis into Hodeida and squeeze.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pompeo knew he was signing off on a lie, to protect US weapons sales:

Pompeo Lied to Congress About Yemen To Protect Arms Sales ("Originally appeared on The American Conservative.)

The article goes on to state:

Mike Pompeo’s certification earlier this month that the Saudi coalition was working to reduce harm to civilians in Yemen was an obvious sham. According to a new report in The Wall Street Journal, Pompeo made the decision to lie for the Saudis and Emiratis because he feared it would hurt arms sales:

Mr. Pompeo overruled concerns from most of the State Department specialists involved in the debate who were worried about the rising civilian death toll in Yemen. Those who objected included specialists in the region and in military affairs. He sided with his legislative affairs team after they argued that suspending support could undercut plans to sell more than 120,000 precision-guided missiles to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, according to a classified State Department memo and people familiar with the debate."

Foreign policy in this country is never about protecting "We the People"; it is about protecting the wealth of "Those the Monied", as in defence contractors, who contribute so lavishly, overtly, and covertly, to national campaigns.

And if your national Presstitute Warrespondents has not covered the plight of Yemen, under the B.O.Y.'s watch, the following images will make clear why not: (Warning: very graphic)

Images: Yemeni kids slaughtered and maimed for life by Saudi bombing runs

Images: Yemeni kids starving through the US-enabled Saudi blockades of Yemen's ports

Images: Yemeni kids dying from cholera outbreak

If you nearly lost your breakfast in looking at this, there is still hope that you may be somewhat human. But what we need to do, on a national scale, is very peacefully, and logically, call this government out on what amounts to aiding and abetting war criminals in Saudi Arabia, in their genocide of Yemen.

In the Wikipedia article about him, I find it thoroughly astonishing that this man identifies himself as a Christian, while performing as the "Assistant Merchant of Death in Chief" for his military industrial complex buddies. Perhaps, he sees no conflict whatsoever; I have to wonder how he cannot.

Army Misses Recruiting Goal for First Time Since 2005

For the first time since 2005, the U.S. Army missed its recruiting goal this year, falling short by about 6,500 soldiers, despite pouring an extra $200 million into bonuses and approving some additional waivers for bad conduct or health issues.

Army leaders said they signed up about 70,000 new active duty recruits in the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30 — well short of the 76,500 they needed. The Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps all met their recruiting goals for 2018.

The Army's shortfall, said Maj. Gen. Joe Calloway, was fueled by the strong American economy and increased competition from private sector employers who can pay more. But the failure has triggered an overhaul in Army recruiting, including an increase in recruiters, expanded marketing and a new effort to reach out to young, potential recruits through popular online gaming.

Unlocked and Unloaded: The Top Crises Facing Britain's Crumbling Military Today

The British Ministry of Defence (MOD) may soon be unable to run its nuclear deterrent, Trident, due to massive budget cuts and a lack of sufficient personnel skilled in engineering, according to a report by the country’s parliament. This is however, only the latest in a litany of issues to torment the UK’s military establishment.

Past decisions by the British government to delay maintenance of its Trident nuclear submarines have rendered the program "not fit for purpose," according to a new report by the Public Accounts Committee.

The report's authors also make the argument that Trident could be negatively impacted upon by Brexit, due to the system's reliance on imported materials from other EU countries, as well as possible difficulties in bringing in much-needed skilled engineers from the continent to work across the 13 sites that house the nuclear submarines.

Pompeo: US Preparing a ‘Series of Actions’ Against Venezuela

Citing the US desire to increase pressure “against the Venezuelan leadership folks,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says that in the days to come, the administration will announce a series of actions against Venezuela.

Pompeo declined to offer any specifics, which is probably going to lead to speculation of something major coming, since recent reports of US policy toward Venezuela has been uniformly hostile.

President Trump threatened to attack Venezuela back in August of 2017, and this summer reports are that he’d repeatedly had to be talked out of such attacks. Early this month, the administration was confirmed to be engaging in secret coup talks with Venezuelan rebels.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would think that, with all the wars, present and coming, in which and with which the US military is embroiled, the plan may well be destabilization and regime change in Caracas, courtesy of hired rebels and mercs.

As Afghan Military Deaths Soar, Officials Struggle to Keep Toll Secret

The last official figures on Afghan military deaths came out in 2016. 22 soldiers were killed on an average day, and this was so bad that Afghan and US officials decided that death tolls would subsequently be kept secret

Things have just gotten worse, and 22 deaths would be a comparatively mild day compared to media reports on the death tolls in recent days. In the past week, the average day has seen roughly 57 deaths among Afghan security forces.

The Pentagon’s recent decision to more heavily publicize Taliban body counts, to try to sell the war to the administration, likely comes from the same place as the decision to keep Afghan military deaths secret, as this will just reveal the extent of the conflict’s failure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let's call this one as what it is: a 17-year, unmitigated disaster.

IF US and NATO officials had one brain cell to share on this issue, they would immediately withdraw all Coalition troops as quickly as it would be safe to do this, then negotiate with whatever government was left standing in Kabul for the pipeline, rare earth, and opium poppy rights.

Ah, but of course, they won't, because such actions... would actually be logical.

Army misses 2018 recruiting goal, which hasn't happened since 2005

The Army fell short of its recruiting goal for 2018, missing its mark for the first time since 2005 as it looks to grow its force strength in the face of growing threats from competing world powers such as Russia and China.

The Army has launched a large-scale review of its recruiting practices, senior service officials said Friday. The service will pour millions of dollars into revamping recruiting facilities and bolster its recruiting force after falling about 6,500 recruits short of its goal for fiscal year 2018, which will end Sept. 30. The Army had hoped to enlist 76,500 recruits in 2018, a goal that was lowered from 80,000 in April after more soldiers than expected elected to remain in the service.

LEAKED MEMO SHOWS US OVERLOOKED MASS CIVILIAN DEATHS IN YEMEN TO PRESERVE ARMS SALES

On rare occasion a story is unearthed in the mainstream media which demonstrates in stunning clarity how major foreign policy decisions are really made in Washington, especially when it comes to waging perpetual war in the Middle East often under the official rhetorical guise of “protecting civilians”.

A bombshell Wall Street Journal report details a leaked classified memo which shows Secretary of State Mike Pompeo decided to continue US military involvement in the Saudi war on Yemen in order to preserve a massive $2 billion weapons deal with Riyadh.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These days, the governance in this country, is never about really, honestly taking care of the needs and concerns of We the People; it is about how financially morbidly obese defense corporations can squeeze more money out of wars to which the US government should have never committed our military in the bloody first place.

DOZENS DEAD IN IRAN AFTER GUNMEN ATTACK MILITARY PARADE, SAUDI ARABIA BLAMED

At least 25 people are dead and 53 wounded after an army parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz came under attack by militants on Saturday, according to state media.

Nearly half of the dead are members of the Revolutionary Guards, according to state news agencies, making this one of the worst attacks ever on the elite force.

While the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, there are conflicting reports over who is behind it. A spokesman for Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Ramezan Sharif, said the attackers were funded by Sunni arch rival Saudi Arabia.

"Those who opened fire on civilians and the armed forces have links to the Ahvazi movement," Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif told ISNA.

"They are funded by Saudi Arabia and attempted to cast a shadow over the Iranian armed forces."

Zarif vowed Iran would "respond swiftly and decisively in defence of Iranian lives". -France24

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that the "Usual Suspects" (read: the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia) appear to be hell-bent on starting a war against Iran, and I am deeply concerned that this attack against the Revolutionary Guards being one of the opening salvos, other than economic, in that war.

I would like to strongly caution those who believe it would be such a "good idea" to do this, to remember the degree of Russia's assistance to Bashar Al Assad in Syria, where Russian intervention was successful in turning the tide against the rebels there.

So not believe for one moment, should Iran be attacked, that Russia (and ultimately, China) will fail to come to its aid, as evidenced by the following:

2015: Russia and Iran sign a military cooperation pact

And we need, also, to look at Russia's strengthening of ties to Iran this year, during the following meetings:

Russia and Iran deepen ties to challenge Trump and the United States

July, 2018: Russia and China have Tehran's Back

So, a global war against Iran, featuring the US, NATO, Israel, and Saudi Arabia on the one hand, and China, Russia, and Iran on the other?!?

The kind of devastation such a war would bring to this planet, is both unimaginable, and most probably irrevocable.

The Odd Chabad Connection Between Putin and Trump

Let’s begin here:

Starting in 1999, [Vladimir] Putin enlisted two of his closest confidants, the oligarchs Lev Leviev and Roman Abramovich, who would go on to become Chabad’s biggest patrons worldwide, to create the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia under the leadership of Chabad rabbi Berel Lazar, who would come to be known as “Putin’s rabbi.”

Putin is a Chabad Lubavitch puppet

While RT and a lot of alternative news outlets portray Putin as some sort of savior, the reality is that he is just playing his role in the Jewish Babylonian messianic soap new world order. Instead of expelling jewish influence in his country after the fairly recent satanic mass slaughter of up to 80 million of his Russian brothers and sisters by jews after the "Bolshevik" revolution, Putin is calling for harder punishments for anti semitic expressions in Russia. He proposed to members of the European Jewish Congress, that Jews facing a rising tide of anti-Semitism and bigotry farther west should move to Russia, where he said they would be better accepted. Readers of the Jerusalem Post have chosen Putin as their person of the year.

US Worried S-400 May Obtain Sensitive Data on American Fighter Jets – Analyst

Even though it is not clear whether India will receive a waiver with regard to US sanctions against Russia, New Delhi has made it clear that it will go ahead with the S-400 air defense system deal as it is at an "advanced stage."

New Delhi (Sputnik) — A defense analyst has suggested that America's reservations against India acquiring the Russian air defense system is mainly borne out of the fear that if the S-400 is used to test the stealth capabilities of American fighter jets, India would have access to the data of American jets and that data could be leaked to Russia or other adversaries of the US.

Former squadron leader of the Indian Air Force and an independent defense analyst Vijainder K Thakur confirmed that S-400 systems can be used not only to identify radar tracks belonging to America's F-35s, but to also possibly determine the configuration of an F-35.

A Reaper Drone Shot Down Another Drone in First Unmanned Air-to-Air Kill

A U.S. Reaper drone shot down another with a missile, the Air Force revealed yesterday. The incident, which took place last year and involved an unmanned target drone, was the first case of a drone shooting down another another aircraft. The event ism a watershed moment in the history of aerial warfare, as unmanned aircraft begin to muscle in on air-to-air combat—previously the exclusive domain of manned aircraft.

Colonel Julian Cheater, commander of the 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing, revealed the incident in an interview with Military.com. The 432nd “Hunters” Wing is based at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada and is responsible for “unmanned precision attack and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions...in support of overseas contingency operations”.

Pentagon Hypes Taliban Body Counts to Try to Sell White House on Afghan War

The Pentagon’s leadership has long opposed using body counts as war propaganda, particularly in Afghanistan, fearing that it would echo the failed strategy of Vietnam, and alienating people around the world.

But in recent months, efforts to sell President Trump on the Afghan War have changed that, with officials now eager to get gaudy death tolls out to the public to prove that the US and its allies will “remove all who oppose them at every turn,” and are making progress in killing people.

Yet these same officials have long admitted this isn’t an effective way to communicate how the war is going, and that fixation on body counts comes off as terribly morbid. Whether it is something to sell President Trump on the war is another matter.

Washington’s Endless Sanctions Are Finally Backfiring

Sanctions are worse than ineffective: they have potentially far-reaching economic impacts. Limiting Iran’s oil sales pushes up energy prices globally. Penalizing technology sales to Moscow disproportionately affects European firms. Even smaller markets matter. Warned Peter Harrell, an attorney specializing in sanctions: “Trump’s August 9 tariffs on Turkey spurred a dramatic market selloff that not only affected Ankara but also caused the stocks of major European banks with business in Turkey to plunge and raised concerns about contagion to other emerging markets.” Washington’s promiscuous use of economic sanctions has moved the global economy away from the liberal marketplace.

Poland's Wish to Host US Base Shows Country 'Lives in Illusion' - EU MP

Poland's wish to host a US military base shows that the country, possessed by its resentment toward Russia, still "lives in illusion," Jean-Luc Schaffhauser, a member of the European Parliament and of French party National Rally (RN), told Sputnik.

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday in a meeting with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda that the United States was "considering" an establishment of a military base in Poland.

"The Poles live in an illusion, which has several times led them to positions detrimental to their nation… We must tell our Polish friends that this is enough and that Europe is not there to stir up conflicts and settle their past resentments or, even more seriously, their hatred of Russians," Schaffhauser said.

A prominent anti-war activist was dragged out of a meeting attended by the US special envoy to Iran, but not before she stepped onto the stage and took aim at the official’s hawkish anti-Iranian speech.
***
“That is the most ridiculous thing I have seen. The world community wants to keep the Iran nuclear deal,” Benjamin said as she took to the stage with a security guard following closely behind.
***
“Let’s talk about normal countries. Let’s talk about Saudi Arabia. Is that who our allies are? They are the biggest threat to the world community.”
***
With three men now trying to remove her, Benjamin said>>>
“They’re [the sanctions] hurting the Iranian people. You are making a case for war with Iran. How did the war with Iraq turn out? You’re doing exactly the same thing we did in the case of Iraq. We don’t want another war in the Middle East.”
***
As Benjamin was ejected from the room she shouted “So let’s get real. No more war! Peace with Iran!”

After her ejection, Hook, who had remained silent during her comments quipped: “I think she had her coffee this morning.”

US Sends Ships to South China Sea ‘to Create Trouble’ - Chinese Envoy

China’s chief envoy in London accused “some big countries outside the region” of coming “all the way to the South China Sea to create trouble,” where China claims large expanses of sea and atolls.

In response to the what Putin has called a ‘tragic incident’ that caused the death of the crew of the radio reconnaissance aircraft and the IL-20 VKS RF warhead, Rusvesna reports that the Russian military has made a major move.

Effective September 19th, the Russian Federation has announced the closure of a large area of ??the eastern Mediterranean for the movement of military aircraft and ships until the 26th of September.

According to the official version, this step is justified by the beginning of unscheduled maneuvers of the navy and aviation off the coast of Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My question, since what Russia has essentially done, is to declare a "no fly" zone over the Eastern Mediterranean, for Russian naval drills, will the US comply, or attack before the 26th of this month in their own "Freedom of Navigation" drills?!?

Unfortunately, if I were a betting person, I would think the latter, rather than the former outcome, is more possible here.

Idlib: Lull Before the Hurricane. New US Military Doctrine for Intervention in Syria

Without fanfare the US has just reformulated its position to create the conditions for it to launch devastating strikes on Syria no longer just on the pretext of alleged use of chemical weapons but on any ‘humanitarian’ pretext the US sees fit. In an interview with the Washington Post on 6 September, James Jeffrey, the hawkish new Special Envoy for Syria fresh from the neocon incubator of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, did not mince words:

“We’ve started using new language,” Jeffrey said, referring to previous warnings against the use of chemical weapons. Now, he said, the United States will not tolerate “an attack. Period.”

“Any offensive is to us objectionable as a reckless escalation” he said. “You add to that, if you use chemical weapons, or create refugee flows or attack innocent civilians.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The primary question is, with the Russian/Turkish agreement in place on Idlib, how long with the Syrian government wait to regain Idlib from US backed terrorists, and will that be the "justification" for an American/Israeli strike against both Syria and Russia?!?

On the 13th of September, Gabbard told [23:06] comedian and satirist Jimmy Dore:

“Since 2011 both overtly and covertly, the United States has been providing arms, intelligence, and equipment to fighters who are allied with, fighting along side, working with, al Qaeda in this regime change war.

So these very same terrorists who attacked us on 9/11. We’ve been supporting for years, as this ground force to fight in this regime change war that we have been quietly waging now for seven years.”

These statements are strikingly up front, given the fact that these policies began under Democratic Party President Barack Obama.

On the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Gabbard also criticised Trump’s opposition the Syrian government’s plans to retake Idlib, by way of tweet:

US House candidate, HI-2

Webmaster's Commentary:

This woman is one of the most courageous legislators I know of, as she has publicly decried both President Obama's and President Trump's policies toward Syria.

So help me Hannah, if this woman runs for President in 2020 (DNC Chair Tom Lopez, courtesy telephone, please), I will do everything I can to support her nomination. And by 2020, this country is going to desperately want a peace candidate, who understands the finer points of the art of negotiation.

‘Captain Marvel’ Is The Recruiting Tool Of The Air Force’s Dreams

After a minute of explosions, alien spacecraft, and a crash-landing in a Blockbuster — so you know it takes place in the ‘90s — the new trailer for the upcoming Marvel film shows us the real origins of Air Force Col. Carol Danvers. Danvers grows from downtrodden adolescent to determined Air Force cadet, to outstanding fighter pilot, to cosmically-powered warfighter in the span of a few frames.

If this seems familiar, it should. The trailer evokes old Department of Defense recruiting commercials, like a young woman’s transformation from student to Marine in last year’s recruiting spot, “Battle Up.” It’s a common hook in military recruiting ads: You tell a life story, or a coming-of-age tale, in 60 seconds flat. After all, joining the military to transform into the pinnacle of martial perfection, and thus become a national superhero in your own right, isn’t a new lure. Anyone remember that one commercial involving a mameluke-sword-wielding Marine in dress blues vanquishing a demon?

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have seen this kind of recruiting up close and personal. We live not far from the Marine air station, where there are "festivals" where the general public is encouraged to attend, particularly with their families and kids.

I have watched some really bright, kid-centric, and young military officers engaging with kids, describing how various pieces of military hardware work, and I have seen those kids leave starry-eyed, and all aglow with what a military future might hold for them.

The reality that all wars are economic in nature, is never broached, and of course, nor are the real killing capabilities of all those wiz-bang machines they see assembled around them. One also almost never sees a wounded Vet at these events, to drive home the possibility of being killed, or physically maimed during combat.

It's all bright, shiny show of impending death to "the others" with no consequences to yourself, which get pitched at these events. I believe this to be absolutely morally wrong.

And if you have a teenage child who has seen this movie, and comes home talking about wanting to enlist in a branch of the military, please find someone from any organization like Veterans for Peace, and invite them over to talk to your kid.

They've been there; they understand what it is like to be "in country", where the job is to "pacify" the locals, insure a US-centric government stays in place, and where all the natural resources of that country are only sold in US dollars.

This... is what I mean when I say, "All wars are economic in nature."

The newest member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance is Montenegro and the tiny nation is wasting no time getting involved in showing its support for collective defense.
