U.S. to Beef Up Military Presence in Eastern Europe

U.S. officials say the Pentagon will be deploying an armored brigade combat team to Eastern Europe next February as part of the ongoing effort to rotate troops in and out of the region to reassure allies worried about threats from an increasingly aggressive Russia.

The officials said the Army will announce Wednesday that it will be sending a full set of equipment with the brigade to Europe. Earlier plans had called for the Pentagon to rotate troops into Europe, where they would have used a set of training equipment pre-positioned there.

Russia's Deadly S-500 Air-Defense System: Ready for War at 660,000 Feet

The new weapon—which will form the upper tier of Russia’s layered integrated air defense system—is expected to be able to engage targets at altitudes of about 125 miles—or 660,000 feet. That means that S-500 will be able to engage targets such as incoming ballistic missiles in space at ranges as great as 400 miles. The first regiment of S-500 will be deployed to protect Moscow and central Russia.

THE U.S. NAVY NOW HAS AN UNMANNED DRONE WARSHIP. COULD IT BE HACKED AT SEA?

The U.S. Navy and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) are now testing a new unmanned drone warship. The first Navy drone ship is a 132-foot ACTUV (Antisubmarine warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel) known as Sea Hunter, which cost around $120 million to build. The military says more can now be produced for $20 million or so each. But some are concerned that with no humans at the controls, these “robot ships” could be hacked, pwned remotely, and used by America's enemies to attack the United States.

NATO Secretary General Insists Buildup 'Defensive'

Russia’s Defense Ministry has announced its intention to create three new military divisions for its westernmost territory in response to NATO’s announcement last week of another 4,000 ground troops to be deployed along the Russian border.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg insists that NATO’s deployments were a response to Russia’s “use of force against Ukraine in 2014,” which both happened two years ago and has been in a state of ceasefire for well over a year.

Mattis versus Trump

Trump was invited last week by the The National Interest to give his first speech on foreign policy.

To everyone’s surprise – but probably not that of the organisaters - «the Donald» did not have anything to say about his position on various subjects, aimed at satisfying one lobby or another, but instead delivered an analysis of US policy and describing its total overhaul.

He delivered a criticism of neo-conservative ideology, which has held power since the coup d’etat of September 11th 2001.

He continued with an indirect attack on the «military-industrial complex», blaming the general excess of weapons in the world. There was no mistake – for the first time since the assassination of John Kennedy, a presidential candidate was denouncing the omnipotence of the arms manufacturers, who have eaten up almost all of US industry.

Trump said the settlement construction must “keep going” and “keep moving forward,” because Palestinians fired “thousands of missiles” at Israel.

Trillion Dollar F-35s Can Barely Get off the Ground

During a recent flight test at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, the F-35 proved little in the way of combat and deployment capabilities. Iraq’s political chaos makes Canada’s war there trickier

Canadian troops are training Kurdish forces for a planned assault on Mosul, a city controlled by the Daesh militants since 2014. But as Time magazine has reported, the much-delayed assault is hampered by tensions between the Kurdish peshmerga and the Baghdad-controlled Iraqi army.

Again the dispute centres on territory: Should areas won back from Daesh go to semi-autonomous Kurdistan? Or should they go to Iraq proper?

This poses a problem for Canada. Like the U.S., Ottawa supports the concept of a unified Iraq.

But in practice, it finds itself training Kurdish soldiers who don’t view themselves as Iraqi and who might well end up fighting Iraqis.

Seymour Hersh Says Hillary Approved Sending Libya’s Sarin to Syrian Rebels

The great investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, in two previous articles in the London Review of Books («Whose Sarin?» and «The Red Line and the Rat Line») has reported that the Obama Administration falsely blamed the government of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad for the sarin gas attack that Obama was trying to use as an excuse to invade Syria; and Hersh pointed to a report from British intelligence saying that the sarin that was used didn’t come from Assad’s stockpiles. Hersh also said that a secret agreement in 2012 was reached between the Obama Administration and the leaders of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, to set up a sarin gas attack and blame it on Assad so that the US could invade and overthrow Assad. «By the terms of the agreement, funding came from Turkey, as well as Saudi Arabia and Qatar; the CIA, with the support of MI6, was responsible for getting arms from Gaddafi’s arsenals into Syria».

Webmaster's Commentary:

If, in fact, these charges are true, is this REALLY "the woman" you want to have in the White House as President?!?

The woman for whom money and power mean....EVERYTHING, and she will do or say ANYTHING to hang on to it if elected, no matter how badly it effected the American people?!?

The woman who has proven that she will do ANYTHING to "regime change" governments not to the US government's liking?!?

Please remember, if she is on the Democratic ticket in November, and steals the election, or gets voted in, she is a warmonger of the highest order, and has never seen a US military intervention she did not like.

Oh yes, and bet on this: the return of the military draft, for both young men and women.

I remember, in those days right after the false flag sarin attack in Syria, how intensely Obama and Kerry were arguing that the US military had no choice but to invade Syria, and regime-change the country.

And the man who became Syria's international saviour, Russia's Vladimir Putin, was, fortunately, able to talk some sense into the American government, and the US government blinked.

The wars which the US has started, and are festering and simmering, globally, like a bad, contagious infection, will continue apace under a second Clinton presidency; that's just the cold hard reality.

OSAMA BIN LADEN VOICE ACTOR REVEALS HE FAKED PROPAGANDA VIDEOS

In an interview with the New York Times, a former ABC News intern reveals that he was responsible for “faking” Osama bin Laden’s accent, which the network used to dub over various bin Laden videos and broadcast to the world.

The 22 year old intern worked on ABC’s program “Nightline”, and as soon as the September 11 attacks occurred he was asked by a producer to voice-over an English translation of bin Laden’s alleged “confession”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The attachment of Osama bin Laden to 9/11 was simply a ruse, and completely as fraudulent as was using this kid's voice to record a an false "confession" from Bin Laden regarding this horrific false flag.

It was all about the US government getting " emotional traction" by steering the narrative in the direction they wanted it to go, to justify the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, and attempting to quash all reasonable arguments against these wars.

Who Authorized Preparations for War with China?

—The Pentagon has concluded that the time has come to prepare for war with China, and in a manner well beyond crafting the sort of contingency plans that are expected for wide a range of possible confrontations. It is a momentous conclusion that will shape the United States’ defense systems, force posture, and overall strategy for dealing with the economically and militarily resurgent China. Thus far, however, the military’s assessment of and preparations for the threat posed by China have not received the high level of review from elected civilian officials that such developments require. Russian Missiles' Global Reach: Does Moscow Need Military Bases Abroad?

Throughout the 20th century, military analysts have considered military bases abroad to be an indicator of a state's power and influence, demonstrating whether or not a country has the right to call itself a great power. Recently, with advances in military technology, Russian politicians and the military have begun questioning this logic.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The same applies to the United States. Why do we need hundreds of military bases in foreign nations to "protect" us when US nuclear missiles can strike anywhere on the globe if we are attacked? And the answer is obvious. Those foreign US bases do not protect the US; they exist to enforce the US' will on those foreign governments!

The First Casualty Is Truth

In the fifth century B.C., Greek dramatist Aeschylus said, “In war, truth is the first casualty.” Quite so. Whenever national leaders decide to go on the warpath for the sake of their own ambition or self-aggrandisement, it’s the citizenry that will pay the bloody price for their aspirations. Since war is rarely desired by the citizenry, it has to be sold to them. Some form of deception, exaggeration, or outright lies must be put forward to con the populace into getting on board with the idea.

War, after all, represents a monumental failure of national leaders to serve the rightful national objectives of a citizenry – peace and prosperity. Of course, in the case of an empire going to war, this represents a monumental failure on steroids – the outcome may well be world war in such a case.

Is Ted Cruz eligible to be president?

Does the U.S. Constitution permit a native-born Canadian to serve as president?

The answer is yes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am certain that Associate Law Professor Anthony J. Gaughan's was handsomely paid for his opinion that a Canadian citizen born in Canada fulfills the Constitutional Requirement of "Natural Born Citizen" to be President. But Associate Law Professor Anthony J. Gaughan is wrong. His entire argument (provided by the Cruz campaign) is that since Ted Cruz's mother was born in Delaware, Ted Cruz himself is a US citizen by birth. There are two problems with this claim. First, Ted's mother surrendered her US citizenship to become Canadian. Canada in 1970 did not recognize dual citizens. So both of Ted's parents were Canadian citizens and ONLY Canadian citizens at the time of his birth.
Not quite.

Ted Cruz's father was still married to his previous wife when Ted was born, and under Section 309(c) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act, children born out of wedlock to American citizens in a foreign land do NOT acquire birthright citizenship. Under US law, Ted Cruz was Canadian by birth and ONLY Canadian by birth!

As for the "Natural Born"requirement, the Cruz campaign holds that since the Founding Fathers did not provide a definition of what it meant, therefore we should ignore it. Maybe the Cruz people think that the Founding fathers were worried that someday a GMO human might run for office?

"Natural Born" was defined in the legal references used by the Founding Fathers to write the Constitution. It means "born inside the country." The Cruz campaign says that this should nebver have been added to the requirement for the Presidency, but Cruz doesn't get to re-write the Constitution. ONLY an Amendment can do that.

The fallacy of the Cruz position can be illustrated with a simple thought experiment.

Let us say that back in the 1960s an American woman emigrates to the Soviet Union, marries a Russian, and conceives a child. Then, when the child is 18 or 19, the woman returns to the United States with her child. Under the argument presented by the Cruz campaign, this child, born and raised a Soviet citizen, should be allowed to run for President.

Does that make any sense?

Of course not, which is why that "Natural Born" requirement is in there!

UPDATE: Az-Central is now blocking comments on these stories about Cruz being eligible.

Five of six F-35 fighter jets were unable to take off during testing because of software glitches but the Air Force still plans to declare the aircraft combat-ready this year

Out of the six Air Force F-35 fighter jets, only one was able to successfully take off during a recent exercise that left the other five grounded due to 'immature systems and software'.

The F-35s, which are the world's most sophisticated and most expensive warplanes, were being tested for readiness but only one of the $100 million Lockheed Martin planes was able to boot its software and get itself airborne, according to Flight Global.

May 01 10:57

The F-35’s Software Is So Buggy It Might Ground the Whole Fleet

Last summer, F-35 program officer Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan said the F-35’s logistics system was “the brains and blood of operating this weapons system.”

Despite many fixes, the aircraft’s Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) is so flawed that government auditors believe the computer system may not be deployable. These problems may also delay the Air Force’s declaration of Initial Operational Capability. And now, in a surprising twist, Bogdan is saying ALIS is not really critical after all, insisting the F-35 can fly without it for 30 days.

F-35 supporters enjoy telling people how the plane is a “flying computer,” as if that alone makes it worth the hundreds of billions of dollars spent so far. Lockheed Martin goes one step further, calling it a “supercomputer” in its own promotional materials.

As Obama Preps To Send Troops Into Syria The US Gov’t Is Already Planning Their Next Major Coup

A nonviolent coup to depose a democratically-elected president and install some of the most corrupt politicians — who, not coincidentally happen to be favored by the U.S. political establishment — is currently underway in Brazil. As the public’s attention zeroes on the readying of troops for deployment to Syria, the U.S. government has been able to quietly lend its approval to the crooked and baseless move to oust Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. Indeed, though the controversy over quintupling U.S. ground troops in Syria — despite vows by the Obama administration at least 16 times there would be ‘no boots on the ground’ — constitutes a valid and pertinent debate, it can’t be allowed to obfuscate what’s taking place in Brazil. To understand the importance of the ongoing tumult, you need only look at who matters to both the Brazilian and U.S. political elite — and it clearly isn’t the 54 million people who re-elected Brazil’s first female president just 18 months ago.

The incident was in international airspace according to the Defense Department.

This is the second time a Russian jet has allegedly barrel rolled over a U.S. plane flying over the Baltic, and the incident marks the fourth close encounter between the two countries just this month, as tensions continue to rapidly escalate between the two countries.

The Russian SU-27 approached alongside within 25 feet of the U.S. aircraft, and then flew inverted over the top of the plane to the other side, according to Lt. Col. Michelle L. Baldanza, a U.S. Army spokesperson.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that the Obama administration is hell-bent on provoking war against Russia.

It would be very interesting to see just how far from "international airspace" the US reconnaissance jet had actually strayed.

President Obama’s Race for the “Imperial Legacy”: A World of Chaos and Disintegration

The Obama regime is desperate to overcome the consequences of his political, military and economic failures of the past six years and establish the US as the uncontested global economic and military power.

At this stage, Obama’s supreme goal is to leave an enduring legacy, where he will have: (1) surrounded and weakened Russia and China; (2) re-converted Latin America into an authoritarian free-trade backyard for US plunder; (3) turned the Middle East and North Africa into a bloody playpen for Arab and Jewish dictators bent on brutalizing whole nations and turning millions into refugees to flood Europe and elsewhere.

Once this ‘legacy’ is established, our ‘Historic Black President’ can boast that he has dragged our ‘great nation’ into more wars for longer periods of time, costing more diverse human lives and creating more desperate refugees than any previous US President, all the while polarizing and impoverishing the great mass of working Americans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With the exception of the P5+1 deal with Iran, everything this man has touched, geopolitically, or economically, has become an absolutely and thoroughly wrecked, epic fail.

This desire to lock in his "legacy" is obviously driving Obama to set up conditions where it is only a matter of time, in the twilight of his presidency, that we will be at war with both Russia and China.

I would like to politely suggest that these wars will be absolutely suicidal for this country, because right now, the American military doesn't have the weaponry, the money, the manufacturing, or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a war with Russia and China.

A narcissist of the highest order, President Obama is pathologically incapable of taking responsibility for anything wrong which has gone on in this country during his watch; that is a dangerous quality in any governmental leader, let alone the person with the honorific title "President of the Free World".

DESI: US special operations forces to Syria to prepare for a ground invasion

US-Russian showdown is looming in the horizon after the arrival of 250 US special operations forces to Hasakeh, Syria, and the number is believed to reach 500 in the coming days.

European Department for Security and Information Secretary General Haissam Bou Said Divulged that US special operations forces dispatched to Rumelan, province of Hasakeh, in Syria were tasked with “preparing for a ground invasion if and when the truce fails.”

Are Neocons Getting Ready to Ally With Hillary Clinton?

AFTER nearly a decade in the political wilderness, the neoconservative movement is back, using the turmoil in Iraq and Ukraine to claim that it is President Obama, not the movement’s interventionist foreign policy that dominated early George W. Bush-era Washington, that bears responsibility for the current round of global crises.

Even as they castigate Mr. Obama, the neocons may be preparing a more brazen feat: aligning themselves with Hillary Rodham Clinton and her nascent presidential campaign, in a bid to return to the driver’s seat of American foreign policy.

The Mass Atrocities We Allow and Pay For

We are now advised that 250 more American troops are being sent to Syria solely to "advise and assist" the Syrian "people." Translated from propaganda, this means that our military forces in Syria will be increased to a total of.... well, who really knows, and not to include in-country CIA and armed American "contract employees," or the raiding air crews from carriers and nearby land bases. Nor can we be certain which side of the several shooting and gassing each other will our advisers and assisters be "helping."

Seems to me we've heard this song before. Korea comes to mind, and especially Viet Nam, from where 60,000 of our ultimate force in excess of half-a-million "advisers and assistants" were sent back home in wooden crates before we retreated to leave that land to its natives and their conquering masters.

AS MORE AMERICAN BOOTS HIT THE GROUND IN SYRIA, U.S. PARSES “BOOTS” AND “GROUND”

After President Obama announced on Monday that he would deploy 250 additional special operations troops to Syria, State Department spokesperson John Kirby tried to deny that Obama had ever promised not to send “boots on the ground” there.

“There was never this ‘no boots on the ground,’” said Kirby. “I don’t know where this keeps coming from.”

The problem for Kirby was that Obama has repeated the promise at least 16 times since 2013:

For instance, on August 30, 2013, Obama said: “We’re not considering any boots-on-the-ground approach.”

On September 10, 2013, he said: “Many of you have asked, won’t this put us on a slippery slope to another war? One man wrote to me that we are ‘still recovering from our involvement in Iraq.’ A veteran put it more bluntly: ‘This nation is sick and tired of war.’ My answer is simple: I will not put American boots on the ground in Syria.”

On September 7, 2014, he said: “In Syria, the boots on the ground have to be Syrian.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The long memory of the net hurls the defy at this, and many other issues.

And we all know, now, when members of the Obama Administration lie; they open their mouths... and words come out of them.

US GENERAL FINALLY TELLS THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT OUR TROOPS ARE DOING IN IRAQ

Speaking yesterday at the Senate Armed Services Committee, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Joe Dunford confirmed that US troops in Iraq are “fighting and dying” in combat operations, confirming that the October 22 death of a Army sergeant was in combat.

That admission is a big one, as US officials have danced around the question of “combat troops” by presenting the troops being deployed to Iraq, and elsewhere in the region, as “trainers” or “advisers” in official comments.

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R – AK) pushed particularly hard on the matter, saying he believes the attempt to present Iraq as “non-combat” diminishes the sacrifices of the soldiers slain in the country, and that it iss important to “level with the American people.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The current Administration has simply undercut any shred of credibility it might once have had by pathologically lying to the American people about everything, from war to employment numbers; you cannot believe anything that anyone says from the Obama Administration, and they have no one to blame but themselves for this.

Assad's military claims to have seized Israeli arms shipment in S. Syria

Syrian army sources claimed Wednesday that they had ambushed and captured a group of vehicles packed with Israeli weapons in the southern part of the country. The sources did not say specifically that the shipment came from Israel but alleged that the weapons and ammunition were marked with Hebrew writing, indicating their origin. The sources also failed to specify the exact location of the ambush, only saying that the vehicles were travelling in the area of Swaida, the main Druze city in the Jebel Druze area.

China and Russia are boosting their military cooperation to try to contain the US

China and Russia will increase military exercises to strengthen security and defence cooperation amid growing tensions in the disputed South China Sea.

Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu unveiled the plan at a meeting with his visiting Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan on Wednesday, Tass news agency reported.

“We highly appreciate a high level of Russian-Chinese contact both at the state and defence levels,” Shoigu said. “This year we are going to hold more exercises and events than in past years.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russian and Chinese leadership are no fools; they can see what's coming, from a standpoint of US and NATO aggression, and are taking appropriate steps to prevent it, or at least contain it.

As I mentioned in a post the other day, this horrific push toward a new world war, being engineered by by the US government, has two objectives.

First, to distract many Americans from the financial misery in which they have found themselves, courtesy of President Obama's foreign and domestic policies.

Secondly, to attempt to prevent the rise of the Yuan and Ruble against a badly failing US dollar.

Unfortunately, such a war may well fail for the US government.

And I say this because the painful, and unvarnished, truth here is that the US military does not have the weaponry, the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome of a conventional war against Russia and China.

In Russia and China, when weapons are field tested and deployed, they work as described, or even better.

The US weapons procurement system is corrupt from top to bottom, because our Congressional Representatives get contributions, overt and covert, from the weapons manufacturers, to make sure it is their companies which get the weapons contracts.

How this translates, once US weapons are deployed in the field, is that they are generally delivered late, hideously over-budget, chronically flawed, and don't come up at all to the standards of performance they were supposed to meet.

The event was promoted as unrestricted questions for Henry Kissinger because this is likely the last time he will publicly discuss his role in the war...

Warhawk Clinton - She Loves A Man In A Uniform

Many think Hillary Clinton’s willingness to use force overseas — most infamously her 2002 vote for the Authorization to Use Military Force in Iraq — was just politics. As I wrote at Focal Points in January:

IT WAS WIDELY ASSUMED THAT CLINTON EITHER SAW THE WRITING ON THE WALL AND THAT RESISTING WOULD ONLY HURT HER POLITICAL FUTURE OR, MORE PROACTIVELY, THAT IT WOULD GIVE A BOOST TO HER POLITICAL FORTUNES (ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT OSTENSIBLY SHOWED THAT, AS A WOMAN, SHE COULD BE TOUGH ENOUGH FOR HIGHER OFFICE).

US Troops Responsible for Murdering 45 in Hospital Bombing Given Counseling as a “Punishment”

By Claire Bernish

After bombing a Doctors Without Borders (Médicins Sans Frontières, MSF) hospital in Afghanistan — and shooting at terrified victims as they fled the chaos, and then attempting to cover up its role in the tragedy — the Pentagon is refusing to press charges against any of the 16 service members found to be responsible.

Following a six-month Pentagon investigation, those 16 service members were found culpable in the attack in Kunduz, Afghanistan, on October 3, last year that left 42 patients, staff members, and civilians dead...
