Harvard law professor says 'slimy' Jared Kushner is the 'beating heart' of the 'corrupt and deeply evil' Trump administration

A Harvard law professor has slammed Jared Kushner for being the 'beating heart' of the 'deeply evil' Trump administration.

Constitutional law professor, Laurence Tribe, made the comments on Saturday.

Tribe was responding to Newsweek columnist, Seth Abramson, who had called President Donald Trump's son-in-law 'the greatest domestic danger to America'.

'I’m with @sethabramson here. Smarmy, slimy, smiling Jared Kushner of 666 Fifth Avenue is the beating heart of this unprecedentedly corrupt and deeply evil administration,' Tribe tweeted.

'He’ll eventually be exposed as an insatiably greedy Benedict Arnold,' he added, implying that Kushner would betray the United States.

Trump: The Warlord of Economic Savagery

Donald Trump’s decidedly neo-conservative administration is waging economic warfare through the combined imposition of tariffs and economic sanctions against nations on six continents. Trump’s policies, which fuse bull-headedness with oafishness, have wreaked havoc on the stock market, pension funds, employment, and overall economic stability on a scale not seen since the Great Depression of the last century.

Misled on the Wall, Trump Must Hold Firm Against the Wars

President Donald Trump’s first veto will now likely be of the resolution seeking to block his use of emergency powers to build a border wall. Whatever the merits, that’s better politics—and more “America First”—than vetoing Congress’s attempt to stop U.S. support for the Yemen war.

Trump promised during the 2016 campaign to guard America’s borders rather than police the world. The reason he finds himself in the position of fighting for a national emergency declaration is that he listened to lawmakers, including some influential members of his own party, whose priorities ran in the opposite direction.

Late last year when Trump began his ill-fated wall showdown and called for winding down two wars—one that had gone on too long, the other that was never authorized by Congress or our business to fight in the first place—it appeared he had belatedly learned this lesson.

Trump Budget Would Slash Domestic Spending, Boost Military Spending

On Monday, President Trump will officially propose his new budget plan, which calls for major cuts in domestic spending across the board, but which also seeks a large further increase in military spending, above and beyond the increases already planned.

Exact figures aren’t clear at this point, but what is clear is that the general direction of this budget is going to face major opposition within the House of Representatives, not just from the Democratic leadership, but from some Republicans as well.

It’s not just the heavily military-centric priorities that will fuel the opposition, though clearly that is part of it. The budget proposal also ditches the Republicans’ goal of a 10-year time-frame for a balanced budget.

John Bolton Is the Real Foreign Policy President of the US. He’s Playing Trump Like a Fiddle

Curt Mills reports on Bolton’s extensive and expanding influence in the Trump administration:

But in the meantime, in return for his occasional, minor humilation, Bolton enjoys wide-ranging authority to craft the national security policy of the United States, behind the scenes. He’s the contra Mattis; instead of resigning in moral protest, Bolton wears the mask of obsequiousness, while subtly nudging a reluctant president toward a more tough-minded line.

We have seen how Bolton has been able to delay and even partially undo one of the president’s initial decisions in Syria (all the while emphasizing that the president’s decision was being faithfully carried out), and his fingerprints are all over the demise of the INF Treaty. Now we are starting to see the same thing happen with North Korea policy.

Trump & The Gordian Knot, Year Two

About a year ago I advanced the theory that US President Trump understood that the only way to "Make American Great Again" was to disentangle it from the imperial mission that had it stuck in perpetual wars. I concluded that his statements implied that he believed that

1) the post 9/11 military interventions did nothing for American security;

2) foreign interventions impoverish the country;

3) the alliance system is neither useful nor a good deal for the country;

4) Russia is not the once and future enemy.

FLORES – Will Trump Veto? U.S Congress Drafts Bill Banning Recognition Of Russia’s Crimea

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the United States has, after a long time in committee, approved a bill banning the US government from recognizing Crimea as a Russian region.

The decision was made unanimously on March 7th, according to the website of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The text of the “Law on the non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea” was submitted to Congress on January 16th and was only now sent to the House of Representatives for consideration. If the bill is supported by both houses of Congress, it will be sent to president Trump for final ratification or veto.

At this point in time, it appears likely that the bill will pass both houses, given the political climate. The question remains as to whether Trump will veto the bill or not. Also at his disposal is the line-item veto – parts of the bill can be struck out by Trump, and then ratified.

A senior White House official said president Donald Trump was prepared to “walk away” from a “bad” trade deal with China, stressing that there is “work left to be done” in the negotiations before an agreement can be finalised.

Gabbard's Pro-INF Bill Has 'No Chance' Due to Military-Industrial Complex Lobby

In a last-ditch effort to keep the US from exiting the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), Democratic Party presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard introduced a draft bill to Congress which would prevent the authorization of government funds for the testing, procurement or deployment of any missile prohibited under the treaty.

Congress released the full text of Gabbard's bill, dubbed the INF Treaty Compliance Act of 2019, this week, with the proposed legislation originally introduced by the Hawaii congresswoman in mid-February for deliberation by the House Armed Services Committee.

Gabbard had earlier described Trump's decision to pull out of the 1987 treaty as a "reckless" move which could exacerbate "a new Cold War" with Russia. The bill has now been cosponsored by six Democratic lawmakers, including Ilhan Omar, James McGovern, Mark Pocan, Barbara Lee, Raul M. Grijalva, Eleanor Holmes Norton and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

VENEZUELA’S MINISTER SAYS MAJOR POWER OUTAGE LIKELY CAUSED BY ‘CYBERATTACK’, POINTS FINGER AT US

A cyber-attack is likely the reason for the major blackout that left most of Venezuela in darkness, a Maduro government official said, hinting that the US may be involved in the offensive.

As Venezuela is still reeling from a nationwide blackout, Nicolas Maduro’s government says the emergency was the result of an external influence. The major power outage was likely prompted by a cyber-attack against the Guri hydroelectric plant which produces 80% of the country’s electricity, Jorge Rodriguez, Venezuela’s communication and information minister said on Friday, according to local media.

The official went on to hint that US Senator and fierce anti-Maduro campaigner Marco Rubio may be linked to the offensive. Rodriguez found it suspicious that shortly after the failure Rubio shared specific information on Twitter about the emergency that even local authorities were not aware of at that time.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Was this coordinated by someone in the US, most probably?!?

As someone who has lived with an American government which invests most of its its time in regime change, economic and physical warfare, and outright resource theft, I would not put it past the US to have contracted to have this done.

Nadler leading Cold War-style 'inquisition' against Trump, House Judiciary panel's ranking Republican says

The top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee unloaded on the panel's chairman, Jerry Nadler, in a fiery letter on Thursday, accusing the New York Democrat of conducting an unconstitutional "inquisition" into President Trump and his associates "reminiscent of Eastern regimes during the Cold War."

Nadler, who would oversee any impeachment proceedings against President Trump, this week announced dozens of document requests -- including to the National Rifle Association (NRA), WikiLeaks and key figures in the Trump Organization -- in a barrage that Nadler called the opening salvo in new and wide-ranging investigations into the White House.

Georgia Republican Rep. Doug Collins, the ranking member on the committee, charged that Nadler's investigation runs "afoul of nearly 150 years of Supreme Court precedent and over 200 years of oversight conducted by this committee."

Thus, what was supposed to be a morale-boosting quickie regime-change operation to cheer up the rank and file on the road to Tehran – the overthrow of Nicolas Maduro’s sanctions-starved socialist state in Venezuela, the oil-rich fly in the ointment of “our own backyard” – has become just another entry on a long list of ignominious failures. Guantanamo sees new construction a decade after prison ordered shut

Love it or hate it, the potency of the Trump Administration is on the wane, soon to be stuck in the mire of the Swamp it has deepened instead of drained, while the economy falls into one hell of a recession -- so claims former Regan-era Cabinet member and Congressman David Stockman.

In his new book Peak Trump, Stockman notes how the wide divergence between Trump the campaigner and Trump the president appears to be proving to be his undoing.

Rather than fight to dismantle the institutions he railed against as a candidate -- most notably the Deep State and the Federal Reserve -- Trump has embraced them.

Now, when this latest asset bubble bursts (and Stockman believes the markets saw their peak back in Fall 2018), Trump will 'own' that. Having chosen to tie his administration's success to the rising price of the S&P 500 since taking office, he won't be able to foist the blame of a market crash on his predecessors.

Trump Looks To Nationalize 5G

Trump apparently wants to control 5G in a ‘state-run’ socialist twist to American capitalism - and now there are indications that it could become part of the 2020 election campaign.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign team renewed its controversial pitch on nationalizing the country’s 5G network. In other words, the government would have control of 5G airwaves and lease access to private wireless providers.

Kayleigh McEnany, a Trump 2020 campaign spokeswoman, told Politico that a wholesale 5G market would drive down costs and provide access to millions of Americans who are currently underserved.

“This is in line with President Trump’s agenda to benefit all Americans, regardless of geography," McEnany said. Trump's 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, has been also pushing for a plan that would involve a nationwide 5G network.

US Media REVEALS Bolton's Hand in Running Trump's Foreign Policy

According to recent revelations, because of efforts by the US national security adviser, the grave decision to pull-out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty was made without consulting with any departments or agencies.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton has gained major influence on the decision-making process in regards to foreign policy, sometimes deciding what President Donald Trump needs and doesn't need to hear, The Washington Post reported, citing "over a dozen current and former administration officials", who preferred to stay anonymous.

Hold Trump Accountable for Real Crimes, Not Fake Ones

Aside from breaching virtually all positive promises made, like all other dirty politicians, Trump remains unaccountable for high crimes of war and against humanity in multiple countries.

He’s responsible for waging war by other means on Iran and Venezuela, seeking to unlawfully topple their legitimate governments.

He’s at war with unwanted aliens of the wrong race, ethnicity, and/or religion, as well as Muslims from the wrong countries.

His regime secretly indicted Julian Assange for the “crime” of truth-telling. The White House considers publishing or leaking vital information everyone has a right to know a threat to national security.

When governments call truth-telling independent journalists and whistleblowers acting responsibly national security threats, totalitarian rule replaces free and open societies, tyranny replaces freedom.

Trump's 'ultimate deal' faces ultimate failure

Despite their best efforts, Trump's 'peace envoys' have failed to secure support for their deeply flawed plan.

At a private gathering at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London on February 28, David Makovsky and Dennis Ross - two men with a deep understanding of the decades-long peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis - spoke frankly and at length about US President Donald Trump's "ultimate deal".

Makovsky is an author and journalist who covered the often anguished twists and turns of the journey to reach the Oslo accords of 1993 and 1995. Ross was appointed President Bill Clinton's Middle East envoy in the first Clinton administration and in that capacity helped to broker the Interim Agreement on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, commonly referred to as Oslo II in 1995.

Both men are seen by critics - justifiably or not - as being sympathetic towards Israel>>>

Trump: 'I Agree 100%' with Keeping Some American Troops in Syria

US President Donald Trump indicated that he now agrees "100 percent" with keeping some American troops in Syria, according to a letter obtained by NBC News on Tuesday.

The letter, sent to Trump by a bipartisan group of senators and representatives came about two months after Trump abruptly announced the withdrawal of some 2,000 troops from Syria, declaring that the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL or ISIS) had been defeated.

In a paragraph that Trump marked, the group also wrote, "like you, we seek to ensure that all the gains made in Syria are not lost".

Trump Slams Media Censorship: “I Would Rather Have Fake News Like CNN… Everyone One Of Us Is Like A Newspaper”

As mainstream media and social platforms continue to lock-down and censor content that doesn’t follow the progressive socialist agenda, President Donald Trump weighs in with his view.

And, as you may expect, he doesn’t like censorship. But he’s not just talking about the censoring and de-platforming of conservative or independents, he’s warning the Left that should such activities continue, it could well be they who may be censored next.

We’re standing up to social media censorship… that’s the new thing… I would rather have fake news like CNN… I would rather have fake news.. it’s true… than to have anybody including liberals, socialists…. than have anybody stopped and censored…

Every one of us is like a newspaper… you have Twitter, Facebook, whatever you have… you can’t have censorship… you can’t pick one person and say ‘well, we don’t like what he’s been saying, he’s out’

Because you know what? It could turn around and it could be them next.

Trump to terminate India trade benefits, demands ‘equitable & reasonable’ access to its markets

US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to end preferential trade treatment for India, accusing New Delhi of failing to convince Washington it will provide “equitable and reasonable” access to its markets.

“I am providing notice of my intent to terminate the designation of India as a beneficiary developing country under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program,” Trump said in a letter to Congress on Monday.

I am taking this step because, after intensive engagement between the United States and the Government of India, I have determined that India has not assured the United States that it will provide equitable and reasonable access to the markets of India.

Exporting American's gun problem? The proposed rule that has monitors up in arms

The Trump administration is on the cusp of changing small-arms export regulations that opponents say could flood conflict zones like the Middle East with the same retail guns used in mass shootings in the US.

The rules, which could be finalised this month, would allow sniper rifles, semi-automatic firearms and AK-47-style assault rifles to be sold commercially without requiring US companies to register with the State Department.

The State Department is required under the Arms Export Control Act to inform Congress of any arms sales worth $1m or more, a process which led lawmakers to block $1.2m in handgun and ammunition sales to Turkish security forces after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's bodyguards beat up protesters in Washington DC in 2017.

'It's a political hoax!' Trump blasts House Democrats for launching 'abuse of power' probe with document requests targeting 81 people and groups including Don Jr., Eric, Jared, Roger Stone, Michael Cohen and Hope Hicks

President Donald Trump blasted House Democrats on Monday after they announced the launch of a new 'abuse of power' investigation with 81 separate document requests to people and organizations inside the president's orbit.

The targets include his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner, disgraced former lawyer Michael Cohen and former adviser Roger Stone, who is awaiting trial.

'It’s a political hoax,' Trump said as he hosted an event for college football players at the White House.

'I cooperate all the time with everybody,' he insisted, suggesting that the White House won't gratuitously dodge the requests from Capitol Hill.

Monday's letters are requests. Recipients aren't yet obligated to provide anything to Congress, but the powerful Judiciary Committee has subpoena power to back up any demands that might come later.

'Road map to impeachment': Dems cast wide net in bid to take down Trump

Congressional Democrats demanded Monday that the president let them interview the translators who were there for his unorthodox meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as Democrats expanded their election-season attempt to paint Mr. Trump as a criminal.

Chairmen of the House Oversight, Foreign Affairs and intelligence committees said that in addition to the translators, they want to talk with anyone who was briefed — orally or in writing — about Trump-Putin meetings, and they also demanded to see all documents stemming from the talks.

Their demands came just hours after Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler issued document requests to 81 people or entities in the Trump orbit, on everything from hirings and firings to pardons and presidential emoluments to negotiations with Russia before, during and after the election.

Congress silent as Trump extends national emergency – because it’s to sanction Russia

US President Donald Trump has informed Congress that he will extend the 2014 national emergency over Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, even as lawmakers look set to oppose his emergency declaration to protect the US border.

On Monday, Trump extended by one year the emergency declared by his predecessor Barack Obama in March 2014 with Executive Order 13660. It was set to expire on March 6. In the letter sent to Congress, Trump cited threats to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty and territorial integrity and “actions and policies of the Government of the Russian Federation, including its purported annexation of Crimea and its use of force in Ukraine” as continuing to present “an unusual and extraordinary threat” to US national security and foreign policy.

Trump first suggested North Korea wasn’t responsible for Otto Warmbier’s death. Now he’s walking it back.

President Donald Trump can be shamed into (kind of) walking back comments that reflect kindly on known tyrants — all it takes is resounding criticism that overshadows any of his related accomplishments.

After receiving widespread negative coverage of comments he made earlier this week appearing to absolve North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in the death of Otto Warmbier, a US student who died after being imprisoned in North Korea for over a year, Trump said Friday he was “misinterpreted.”

At a summit between the US and North Korea earlier this week, Trump was asked by reporters if he had confronted Kim about Warmbier’s death. The president confirmed that he did ask about the young American’s mysterious death in 2017, and said he believed Kim “felt badly,” but claimed to have known nothing about it at the time.

How Pro-Israel Foundations in Washington are Pushing a US War with Iran

Observers of developments in the Middle East have long taken it as a given that the United States and Israel are seeking for an excuse to attack Iran. The recently terminated conference in Warsaw had that objective, which was clearly expressed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but it failed to rally European and Middle Eastern states to support the cause. On the contrary, there was strong sentiment coming from Europe in particular that normalizing relations with Iran within the context of the 2015 multi-party nuclear agreement is the preferred way to go both to avoid a major war and to prevent nuclear weapons proliferation.

Is Trump's 'Deal of the Century' Just the Biggest Bribe in History?

After two years of waiting for Trump’s Deal of the Century, it now appears that what the U.S. president and Jared Kushner have in mind is more like the Bribe of the Century.

As The New York Times reported on Wednesday, the heart of the plan is showering tens of billions on economic aid on the Palestinians, as well as on Egypt, Jordan and possibly even Lebanon.

How many billions we’ll only know after Israel’s elections, when the plan is unveiled, but the Times quotes sources as saying the Palestinians alone will get $25 billion and the others as much as $40 billion.

On the rise of a future Palestinian state, Kushner remained vague. In an interview with Sky News on Wednesday, he declined to relate to that issue directly but implied that things like national borders were a frippery.

This is a little odd considering that his father-in-law and boss is a big fan of borders and walls.

Trump Asks China To "Immediately Remove All Tariffs On Agricultural Products"

While a big reason for today's rally was a fresh bout of trade deal optimism following an overnight Bloomberg report that the US is preparing for a "final trade deal" that President Trump and Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping could sign in weeks, moments ago Trump appeared to pour gasoline on the carefully scripted theater of trade negotiations between Washington and Beijing - scripted because as most strategists realize very well (or at least they should) there is no way that China will ever accept being dictated terms from the US on how to treat its currency or to never again participate in "technological transfer" as Rabobank's Michael Every explained this morning - when he tweeted that he has "asked China to immediately remove all Tariffs on our agricultural products (including beef, pork, etc.) based on the fact that we are moving along nicely with Trade discussions and I did not increase their second traunch of Tariffs to 25% on March 1st."

The chairman of the House Oversight Committee issued a stark warning Friday to White House counsel Pat Cipollone, demanding that the White House turn over documents and comply with interviews related to how the White House handled security clearances of some of the President's closest advisers.

President Trump Exaggerated North Korea's Summit Demands, Officials Say

President Donald Trump said he walked away from his second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un because Kim demanded the U.S. lift all of its sanctions, a claim that North Korea’s delegation called a rare news conference in the middle of the night to deny.

So who’s telling the truth? In this case, it seems that the North Koreans are. And it’s a demand they have been pushing for weeks in lower-level talks.

Trump’s much-anticipated meeting with Kim, held in the Vietnamese capital Wednesday and Thursday, ended abruptly and without the two leaders signing any agreements. Trump spoke with reporters soon after the talks broke down and said the dispute over sanctions was the deal breaker.

“Basically, they wanted the sanctions lifted in their entirety, and we couldn’t do that,” he said. “We had to walk away from that.”

North Korea disputes Trump's account of summit breakdown

North Korea is disputing President Donald Trump's account of why the summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un collapsed.

North Korea's foreign minister said that the North demanded only partial sanctions relief in exchange for shuttering its main nuclear complex, and that the discussions collapsed after the U.S. demanded further disarmament steps.

Ri Yong Ho's comments during an abruptly scheduled news conference in Hanoi on Friday contradicted the explanation by Trump, who hours earlier had told reporters that the North had demanded a full removal of sanctions in exchange for shuttering the Yongbyon nuclear facility.

Trump ordered aide to give Kushner security clearance: NY Times

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered his chief of staff in May to grant his son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner a top-secret security clearance, the New York Times reported on Thursday.

It said senior administration officials were troubled by the decision, which prompted then White House Chief of Staff John Kelly to write an internal memo about how he had been ordered to give Kushner the top-secret clearance.

The White House counsel at the time, Donald McGahn, also wrote an internal memo outlining concerns raised about Kushner and how McGahn had recommended against the decision, it said.

This Supreme Court Justice Is About To Cause All Hell To Break Loose By Retiring

Some liberals wanted Ginsberg to retire back in 2013 after Obama won re-election and the Democrats had control of the Senate.

That would have allowed Obama to install a younger leftist, putting three of the liberal bloc’s four Supreme Court seats safely out of reach for 30 to 40 years.

And there has been some speculation floating around Washington that Thomas may retire this summer.

A Clash Is Coming Over America’s Place in the World

In the past several months, a meaningful debate has finally started to emerge over America’s role in the world. Politicians and analysts — left, right and center — are conceding that longstanding mistakes have brought the United States to an uncertain moment. Provoked by President Trump, they are concluding that the bipartisan consensus forged in the 1990s — in which the United States towered over the world and, at low cost, sought to remake it in America’s image — has failed and cannot be revived.

But the agreement ends there. Foreign policy hands are putting forward something like opposite diagnoses of America’s failure and opposite prescriptions for the future. One camp holds that the United States erred by coddling China and Russia, and urges a new competition against these great power rivals. The other camp, which says the United States has been too belligerent and ambitious around the world, counsels restraint, not another crusade against grand enemies.

The art of no deal: Why can’t Washington reach agreements with...anyone?

The much-anticipated second summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un was cut short this week, with both leaders leaving Vietnam early before an expected signing ceremony. Sometimes you just have to walk away, Trump said.

The negotiations ultimately floundered when it came to the question of lifting US sanctions on North Korea. Kim wanted partial sanctions relief in return for its “realistic proposal”to halt nuclear and missile tests and dismantle a nuclear facility at Yongbyon, but Trump was not prepared to compromise.

Murray Hunter, an associate professor at the University Malaysia Perlis, told RT the result was a “catastrophic failure” given the “high expectations” the White House had put on the meeting. So, what does it really take to reach a deal with the United States?

US on Brink of Recognizing Israeli Sovereignty Over Golan Heights

With Oil, Water and Iran as Targets, US on Brink of Recognizing Israeli Sovereignty Over Golan Heights
Israel is now pushing for the U.S. to recognize its sovereignty over the Golan for fear of losing it completely, even though such recognition could result in an all-out war between Israel and Syria, as well as with Syrian allies such as Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

WASHINGTON — A new bill recently introduced in the Senate, along with its companion bill in the House, would result in the United States government recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over Syria’s Golan Heights, which has been occupied by Israel since 1967. The territory was later annexed in 1981, but the international community — including the United States — has not recognized Israel’s claim to the Syrian territory.

In addition, the bill would also promote the U.S. conducting “joint projects” with Israel in the Golan, including “industrial research and development.” This is sure to result in joint U.S.-Israeli efforts to extract the large oil reserves recently discovered in the Golan Heights>>>

Emboldened by Trump, Netanyahu Takes His Election Bid to Dangerous New Levels

The fact that Netanyahu would bring into his future coalition a group classified as ‘terrorist organization’’ by the FBI speaks volumes about the changing relationship between the US and Israel.
***
It is quite typical for Israeli politicians to carry out confrontational measures against Palestinians shortly before general elections are due. The nature of these measures is determined by the kind of political constituency that Israeli leaders aim to appease.

However, a war on Gaza, at least for now, is too risky an option for Netanyahu as it would take place too close to the April 9 elections date. Moreover, a botched Israeli attack on the Strip on November 11 caused Netanyahu a major embarrassment, forcing him to shelve the Gaza option for now.

That said, if the Israeli Prime Minister’s political standing grows too desperate in the coming weeks, a Gaza war may, once again, be placed on the table.
