Trump Has a Huge Fundraising Lead Over Democrats Heading into 2020

In the last three months of 2018, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign raised over $21 million, giving the President a huge head start over his Democratic challengers.

According to disclosures on candidate’s fundraising, this brings Trump’s reelection total at this point to more than $129 million – which is a record amount for a sitting President at this point in the presidential election.

This puts the many Democratic candidates who have declared they are running for president far behind Trump.

NUKES OF HAZARD Donald Trump could move nuclear missiles to Europe for first time in 30 years this weekend as US accuses Vladimir Putin of breaking Cold War pact

DONALD Trump could move nuclear missiles to Europe for the first time in 30 years this weekend after Washington accused Russia of breaking a Cold War pact.

The US has threatened to pull out of the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which bans long-range nukes and their deployment in Europe, after accusing Vladimir Putin of breaking the 1987 agreement.

Trump says NATO allies fully support US suspending obligations under INF

US President Donald Trump has confirmed Washington’s withdrawal from the INF Treaty with Russia, a centerpiece of nuclear arms control since the Cold War. He also said that NATO allies fully support his decision.

“Tomorrow, the United States will suspend its obligations under the INF Treaty and begin the process of withdrawing from the INF Treaty, which will be completed in six months,” Trump said in a written statement.

He accused Russia of non-compliance, and said the US would return to the agreement only if Moscow destroys what Washington considers to be “violating missiles, launchers, and associated equipment.”

Trump praises US intelligence a day after telling them to ‘go back to school’ over Iran nukes

US President Donald Trump has reversed course on his spymasters’ threat assessment, insisting his initial negative reaction – in which he dismissed their reports as “wrong” and “naïve” – was based on (what else?) fake news.
Trump accused the press of “mischaracterizing” the agency chiefs’ Senate testimony earlier this week, in which they explained how much America should be concerned with ISIS, Iran, North Korea and others. The president initially lashed out at their assessment, criticizing their failure to recognize Tehran as a major threat to the US. After meeting his top spies in person, though, he insisted they all agree “very much” – a total 180 from Wednesday morning.

Trump Hints at Declaring a National Emergency in New York Times Interview

In a new interview with the New York Times, President Trump dropped his biggest hint yet that he’s preparing to declare a national emergency.

Trump sat down with the New York Times and sounded off about his frustration with ongoing congressional negotiations over border security. So far, Democrats have indicated they are not interested in providing any funding for an actual border wall. Pelosi insured as much during a recent press conference. A Lawless Government (Paul Craig Roberts)

Washington is blocking Trump’s order to withdraw US troops, because Israel wants the US to renew the attack on Syria and to carry it into Iran. Israel and its American vassals must think that Russia is going to stand down and permit the destabilization of the Islamic world to proceed into the Russian Federation. Once upon a time the media and the foreign policy community would have publicly examined these issues. Now the media reads out the script handed to them.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at the meeting that the level of potential conflict in the world has reached a dangerous point.

"The situation in the sphere of international security has not stabilized and even continued to deteriorate. The level of conflict potential has reached a very dangerous point", Ryabkov said.

Harbinger of a New Age

Against the outcries and warnings of the mandarins of the establishment, the President is withdrawing all US troops from Afghanistan. America’s longest war ends in a in a deal that was offered years ago but was rejected by the same dead-enders in the Pentagon who are pouting mightily at the moment.

Meanwhile Trump continues to hurl regular fusillades at deadbeat NATO, and, most important of all, he continues the process begun at Singapore – pulling the rug out from under a longtime bastion of the military-industrial complex. His meetings with Kim Jong un are a dire threat to the incredibly lucrative cornucopia of cash, careers, and elite prestige that comes out of that long-frozen conflict to this day.

Trump delivers astonishing insult to his 'naive' top intelligence chiefs as he tells them to 'go back to SCHOOL' after they contradicted him on Iran, North Korea and ISIS

President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested his intelligence chiefs should 'go back to school' and lectured their 'naive' assessments on Iran after they sharply contradicted his foreign policy claims, particularly on North Korea and ISIS.

The president's response to his chiefs testimony before the Senate a day earlier was an unprecedented Twitter dressing down of America's top intelligence officials, where he called them 'extremely passive and naive,' said they were flat out 'wrong' on Iran, and suggested 'Intelligence should go back to school!.'

He railed against FBI directory Christopher Wray, CIA director Gina Haspel, and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, who painted a different picture of America's relationship with its foreign partners when they testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.

Neocon hawk John Bolton is a warmonger left over from the George W Bush administration who has returned to the centre of power in Washington DC. Furthermore, Bolton is so rabidly anti-Palestinian and in favour of Israeli war crimes and apartheid that he is considered to be hard-line by many people, even in Washington’s pro-Israel establishment.

The imperialist arrogance of President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor is by no means limited to the Middle East. Most recently, he was photographed with a notepad which “accidentally” revealed a plan to send “5,000 [US] troops to Columbia” to aid the coup attempt in Venezuela.

Roger Stone warns Trump's presidency is in peril

Roger Stone is known for hyperbole, but his latest graphic warning should worry Donald Trump.

The political trickster said Tuesday, a day he pleaded not guilty to seven charges laid by special counsel Robert Mueller, that Trump's presidency is in mortal peril because the Russia investigation amounts to a "speeding bullet heading for his head."

Stone's comment, to "Breitbart News Daily" on Sirius XM radio, added to soaring anticipation, fueled by a remark by acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker on Monday, that the probe could soon end with Mueller's final report.
And it raised the question of whether Trump's repeated claim of "no collusion" fired off in scores of tweets and comments to the press, is a sufficiently broad defense to the existential threat that Stone perceives from Mueller's work.

McConnell Mulls Introducing Amendment to Stop US Pullout from Syria, Afghanistan

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday he plans to introduce legislation to prevent what he called a "precipitous" withdrawal of US forces from Syria and Afghanistan before terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and the Daesh are defeated there.

"My amendment would acknowledge the plain fact that al Qaeda*, ISIS[Daesh]**, and their affiliates in Syria and Afghanistan continue to pose a serious threat to our nation", McConnell said in remarks on the Senate floor.

McConnell said his amendment, which he plan to introduce to a wide-ranging Senate bill on the Middle East, would "recognize the danger of a precipitous withdrawal from either conflict, and highlight the need for diplomatic engagement and political solutions to the underlying conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan".

He stressed that his amendment would ensure the continued commitment of US forces until "vile terrorists" suffer an enduring defeat in both countries.

Huawei A Victim of American Subterfuge

The US Justice Department, in laying criminal charges against the Chinese telecoms giant, is no more than an instrument of American foreign policy

The American war on Huawei proceeds apace. Disguising the state-sponsored attack against China’s leading telecoms company and 5G provider as criminal charges may convince those who already harbour anti-China biases, but will not blind others who are clear-sighted about America’s tactics and intentions. Once again, the US Justice Department is no more than an instrument of American foreign policy, with its sanctions against Iran and trade war against China.

The charges are so obviously politically motivated that an extradition request for Huawei chief financial officer Sabrina Meng Wanzhou – detained in Vancouver – should be thrown out of the Canadian court as soon as possible. As former Canadian ambassador to China John McCallum had said, she had “a strong case”. For stating the obvious, he has been sacked because his bosses in Ottawa, as usual, must follow American imperium like a vassal state.

Huawei charges are US attempt to smear Chinese companies, Beijing says

The United States has yet to present evidence, but will it be as convincing as its allegations of “weapons of mass destruction” cited to justify its criminal war against Iraq, a conflict that, incidentally, made possible Iran’s expansion across the Middle East and so necessitated its rollback, including the use of sanctions related in the Huawei case?

How the US took more than a decade to build its case against Huawei

The indictment alleged Huawei’s long-running scheme to deceive the US and numerous global banks about its business in Iran

The United States has been investigating Huawei Technologies for possible violations of trade sanctions since at least 2007, when FBI agents questioned its founder in New York about the Chinese telecommunication equipment manufacturer’s business activities in Iran.

The founder, whose name was redacted in the indictment filed on Monday in the US, was identified in the documents as “Individual-1”. He said at the time that Huawei was compliant with US export laws and did not deal directly with any Iranian company, according to the 13-count indictment unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

Shenzhen-based Huawei was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, who built a small vendor of telephone switches into the world’s largest telecoms equipment maker and second-biggest smartphone supplier that is forecast to earn US$125 billion in revenue this year.

Conservative pundits lash out at US president after he ends shutdown while failing to secure funding for border wall.

US President Donald Trump has drawn rebuke from his supporters and Republican pundits on the hard right after dropping - at least for now - his demand for Congress to fund a wall on the US-Mexico border.

The Republican leader wanted the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives to approve $5.7bn for the wall in return for signing off a bill funding federal agencies.

Trump's refusal to approve the bill unless the Democrats yielded to his demands, resulted in the longest government shutdown in US history, at 35 days-long.

Despite initial promises to stand his ground, Trump finally signed a bill late on Friday that ensured the government would be funded until February 15.

The shutdown had resulted in around 800,000 federal workers going without paycheques.

The US secretary of state has called on countries to "pick a side" on Venezuela, urging them to back opposition leader Juan Guaido and calling for free and fair elections as soon as possible in a speech at the UN Security Council.

"Now, it is time for every other nation to pick a side. No more delays, no more games. Either you stand with the forces of freedom, or you're in league with [Nicolas] Maduro and his mayhem," Mike Pompeo told the 15-member UNSC on Saturday.
Russia unsuccessfully tried to stop the meeting requested by the United States. Moscow has accused Washington of plotting a coup attempt, placing Venezuela at the heart of a growing geopolitical duel.

"Venezuela does not represent a threat to peace and security," Russia's UN ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, told the Security Council.

Trump Lost The Shutdown

It’s official — he caved. Excerpt:

President Trump on Friday announced a deal with congressional leaders to temporarily reopen the government while talks continue on his demand for border wall money, handing Democrats a major victory in the protracted standoff.

The pact, announced by Trump from the Rose Garden at the White House, would reopen shuttered government departments for three weeks while leaving the issue of $5.7 billion for a U.S.-Mexico border wall to further talks.

He’s saying he might shut the government down again in three weeks if he doesn’t get money for a wall. Don’t you believe it. Here’s why he caved today, and why he won’t do anything three weeks from now:

Russia Urges US to Drop Plans to Deploy Missile Defense Systems in Space

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement on Friday calling on the United States to drop its latest missile defense system plans, which involves deploying interceptor systems into space. They warn the effort will fuel an arms race.

The statement warned that the plans give the impression that the US is trying to revive the scrapped Star Wars program from the 1980s. It also appears to be evidence the US plans to use space for military purposes in the near future.

Trump unveiled the new space-based missile defense a week ago, playing up the idea of making space a “warfighting domain,” and wanting a system that could intercept any missile anywhere on the planet at any time.

North Korea's leader orders preparations for second Trump meeting

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered preparations for a second summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he'll "wait with patience and in good faith" to work toward a common goal, the North's state media reported Thursday.

Despite Kim's determination for another meeting with Trump, the two remain at odds over fundamental issues. Experts say a major sticking point is what denuclearization steps Kim should take to move forward stalled nuclear negotiations and what rewards Trump should provide to push Kim to take those measures.

The Korean Central News Agency said Kim received a letter from Trump from a North Korean envoy who met the U.S. president in Washington last week. After meeting Kim Yong Chol, Trump said he and Kim Jong Un will probably meet around the end of February but did not say exactly when and where the summit would take place.

Drudge Report: Shutdown Deal Reached; Government to Reopen Temporarily

The Drudge Report flashed a banner headline on Friday afternoon that lawmakers have reached a deal to reopen the government and end the longest shutdown in history, at least “temporarily.”

The Drudge Report went up with three banner headlines announcing the news early Friday afternoon. The first read, “SOURCE: SHUTDOWN AGREEMENT REACHED.” The second said, “ANNOUNCEMENT SET FOR 1 PM.” The third said, “GOVT TO REOPEN ‘TEMPORARILY'”:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The big announcement was originally set for 1 PM, then slid to 1:30 PM, and it is now after 2 PM with the podium still empty. This suggests that someone, probably Petty Pelosi, has shoved a big monkey wrench into this deal at the vast second. Somewhere deep inside the White House, I imagine there is a great deal of shouting going on!

Regime Change and Speakers of the Legislature: Nancy Pelosi vs. Juan Guaido, Self-Proclaimed President of Venezuela

By endorsing a procedure which proclaims Juan Guaido as president of Venezuela, Trump has opened up a Pandora’s box, which could potentially backlash on his own presidency:

Trump’s endorsement of Venezuela’s speaker of the National Assembly Juan Guaido (which repeals the presidential succession procedures under the constitution) is tantamount to stating that Nancy Pelosi could legitimately from one day to the next replace Trump as interim president of the US. A pretty grim prospect for the Donald.

Juan Guaido is to Venezuela what Nancy Pelosi is to the United States. The opposition to president Maduro controls the National Assembly. The opposition to president Trump controls the House of Representatives.

Trump tariff fail? China’s trade surplus with US hits highest level in more than decade

Despite efforts by the Trump administration to pressure Beijing into reducing the US-China trade deficit, the trade surplus with the US still reached $323.32 billion last year – the highest level since 2006.

The trade surplus grew 17 percent from around $275 billion a year ago, China’s General Administration of Customs announced on Monday. The figure is the highest on record since 2006, according to government-affiliated Global Times newspaper.

Exports to the US surged 11.3 percent year-on-year in 2018 to $478.4 billion, while imports from the US to China rose a scanty 0.7 percent over the same period.

White House Drafting National Emergency Proclamation To Include $7B For Border Wall

The White House is drafting plans to declare a national emergency along the southern US border which would provide $7 billion in potential funds for President Trump's long-promised border wall, according to CNN - citing internal documents we hope are more accurate than BuzzFeed's.

Trump has not ruled out using his authority to declare a national emergency and direct the Defense Department to construct a border wall as Congress and the White House fight over a deal to end the government shutdown. But while Trump's advisers remain divided on the issue, the White House has been moving forward with alternative plans that would bypass Congress.

"The massive amount of aliens who unlawfully enter the United States each day is a direct threat to the safety and security of our nation and constitutes a national emergency," a draft of a presidential proclamation reads.

China DEFENDS Russia, Blasts US Cold War Mentality

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying has spoken out against the publication of the new US National Intelligence Strategy, in which China and Russia are referred to as “adversary” countries against the US.

“We have taken note of the wording that [the United States] mentioned in the updated version of the US National Intelligence Strategy, which has just been published in the United States. The United States has issued a series of reports, which present unfounded accusations against Russia and China,” said Hua Chunying, a ministry spokesman in a statement.

Chunying urged the United States to make further efforts to strengthen mutual trust between the two countries and maintain international peace and stability, as well as urging Washington to abandon the Cold War mentality.

Trump Backs Down to Pelosi, Won’t Give State of the Union Until Shutdown Ends

President Trump has given in to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and has agreed to postpone the State of the Union address until the government reopens.

This backing away comes as a surprise from the normally combative president. Up until this point, it appeared that President Trump was going to force Pelosi’s hand, and deliver the State of the Union speech from a different location in Congress or from somewhere outside the Beltway. Infamous Private Paramilitary Firm Blackwater Planning Comeback. First Stop: Syria

The controversial security contractor Blackwater is back in the headlines now that its founder – billionaire and former Navy SEAL Erik Prince – has made the case that the United States should replace its small footprint of 2,000 troops in Syria with mercenaries.

Prince’s pitch on Fox Business comes after U.S. President Donald Trump’s surprise pullout announcement in December left Washington’s allies – the Syrian Kurdish forces that fought ISIS – fearing for their security in the face of threats from Turkey.

Blackwater, which was renamed, sold and began operating in 2011 as Virginia-based Academi, was mired in controversy after it was banned from Iraq after some of its people opened fire on civilians at a busy traffic circle.

Prince, however, is eyeing a major comeback by offering Trump a way to both safeguard U.S. allies in Syria while pulling out U.S. troops>>>

U.S. Has Its Gunsights on Venezuela

On January 10—Nicolas Maduro was sworn in for his second term as president of Venezuela. “I tell the people,” Maduro said, “this presidential sash is yours. The power of this sash is yours. It does not belong to the oligarchy or to imperialism. It belongs to the sovereign people of Venezuela.”
The gunsights were once firmly on West Asia and North Africa—on Iraq, Libya, Syria and Iran—but now they are focused on Latin America—on Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. These countries face economic sanctions and embargoes, threats of annihilation, covert operations and war. The definition of imperialism is simple: if you don’t do what we tell you to do, we’ll destroy you.

Pressure on Venezuela has been intense. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called for the overthrow of the Bolivarian government, led by Maduro. Sanctions have been ratcheted up. Economic warfare has become normal. Threats of a military invasion are in the air.

Maduro to revise US diplomatic ties after Pence backs protesters

Venezuela's Maduro accuses US of trying to force a coup after Mike Pence sends video message of support to opposition.

Nicolas Maduro says he has ordered a "revision" of Venezuela's diplomatic relations with the United States, accusing Washington of trying to force a coup after US Vice President Mike Pence threw his weight behind attempts to get rid of the South American country's president.

Maduro said on Tuesday he would announce new measures in the next few hours, in comments that came shortly after Pence declared support for protesters and opposition leaders before widespread anti-government demonstrations planned for Wednesday.

"On behalf of President Donald Trump and all the American people, let me express the unwavering support of the United States as you, the people of Venezuela, raise your voices in a call for freedom," Pence said in a taped video message in English with a few Spanish words and phrases mixed in.

"Nicolas Maduro is a dictator with no legitimate claim to power. He has never won the presidency in a free and fair election, and has maintained his grip of power by imprisoning anyone who dares to oppose him."

PLO: Trump Administration Is Israel's Partner in Targeting UNRWA, Palestinian Refugees
PLO Executive Committee member Hanan Ashrawi said the Israeli government's provocative decision targeting Palestinian refugees in Jerusalem, including closing down and appropriating UNRWA institutions is an affront to international law and international humanitarian law as well as the will of the international community as expressed in United Nations resolutions.

“In its campaign against Jerusalem, Palestine refugees and UNRWA, Israel is empowered by the US Administration's illegal and unilateral decisions against Palestinian rights,” she added.

This includes the defunding of UNRWA as well as other positions aimed at preempting final status issues and undermining Palestinian national rights. The Donald Trump administration is thus Israel's partner in this vicious campaign, Ashrawi stressed.

“We call on all governments to assume their responsibilities in confronting this destructive American-Israeli campaign.>>>

US Aims to Use Iraq to Wall off Syria from Iran

Washington is attempting to turn Iraq into a wall between Iran and Syria, a prominent Iraqi security expert opined.

Kazzem al-Haaj was quoted by the Arabic-language al-Ma'aloumeh news website as saying on Tuesday that the US wants to establish bases in specific zones with respect to their geographical and demographical conditions in Iraq, specially regions near the Iraqi Kurdistan region, to drive a wedge between Iran and Syria and Lebanon.

He warned that the measure is aimed at paving the ground for Washington to implement the next stage of its plot and launch a war against the resistance front and Iran.
