China denies meddling in US mid-term elections

Beijing doesn’t interfere in other nations’ internal affairs, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, rebuffing President Donald Trump’s earlier tweet accusing China of meddling in US elections.

The spokesperson, Geng Shuang, voiced China’s position while talking to reporters on Wednesday.

A day earlier, Trump wrote on Twitter that China is “actively trying to impact and change” the election “by attacking our farmers, ranchers and industrial workers because of their loyalty to me.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Trump is losing it. He has fallen into the same bad habit of blaming others for the failings of our own government. He had a chance to fix our election system so it could not be tampered with and he dropped the ball!

Trump official wants students prosecuted for Israel protests

The Trump administration’s top civil rights enforcer at the US Department of Education wanted students who did nothing but hold a noisy protest in support of Palestinian rights to be criminally prosecuted.

Kenneth Marcus was captured on camera during a September 2016 meeting with an undercover reporter working on Al Jazeera’s explosive documentary about the US Israel lobby.

The documentary has never been broadcast due to censorship by Qatar, which funds Al Jazeera, following pressure from pro-Israel organizations.

The above video obtained by The Electronic Intifada is the latest excerpt to leak from the documentary. It shows Marcus speaking to the undercover reporter.

At the time, Marcus was director of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, an Israel lobby group unaffiliated with Brandeis University. The Brandeis Center specializes in lawfare – the use of legal proceedings to harass and silence Israel’s critics.

He Blew It!

The 9/11 attacks were mass-killing crimes. The perpetrators were master criminals. And they are still at large. Which brings me to Donald Trump.

Donald Trump was elected President on the promise that he would drain the swamp and dismantle the Deep State. And many conservatives and Christians thoroughly believe that Trump is actually doing what he promised. But is he? I think not.

Donald Trump had one chance to prove that he was serious about draining the swamp and dismantling the Deep State. One chance. That one chance was his first two years in office. And he blew it.

Donald Trump Torches Jeff Sessions: 'I Don't Have An Attorney General'

President Donald Trump has issued a new line of attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions, telling The Hill, “I don’t have an attorney general.”

Questioned by reporters later on Wednesday, Trump wouldn’t say if he was considering firing Sessions.

EXCLUSIVE: Trump says exposing ‘corrupt’ FBI probe could be ‘crowning achievement’ of presidency

President Trump in an exclusive interview with Hill.TV said Tuesday he ordered the release of classified documents in the Russia collusion case to show the public the FBI probe started as a “hoax” and that exposing it could become one of the “crowning achievements” of his presidency.

“What we’ve done is a great service to the country, really,” Trump said in a 45-minute, wide-ranging interview in the Oval Office.

“I hope to be able to call this, along with tax cuts and regulation and all the things I’ve done ... in its own way this might be the most important thing because this was corrupt,” he said.

Trump also said he regretted not firing former FBI Director James Comey immediately instead of waiting until May 2017, confirming an account his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, gave Hill.TV earlier in the day that Trump was dismayed in 2016 by the way Comey handled the Hillary Clinton email case and began discussing firing him well before he became president.

The War for the President’s Mind

The Woodward book is supposed to be a blow against the Trump administration for supposedly depicting an administration in “chaos,” but it actually manages to show the foreign policy aspect of Trump’s White House in its best light, albeit unintentionally. Woodward, being the swamp-creature that he is, uncritically cites administration officials who denounce Trump’s Singapore peace initiative with North Korea as prima facie evidence that the man is unhinged. This is the conventional wisdom inside the Washington Beltway: out in the real world, however, Trump’s view is evidence of his sanity. While the political class is worried that declaring the Korean war over and done with will pull the plug on the US military occupation of South Korea – a possibility Woodward conjures as a kind of Armageddon — normal Americans are hoping to see the troops come home after nearly 70 years!

Camp David created Oslo, which killed the Palestinian struggle

After Camp David and Oslo, the Palestinians are left with a political elite that no longer stands for their struggle.
***
This was a deal made by unequal adversaries, with one exploiting the weakness of the other in order to impose its demands.

The Oslo Accords effectively put an end to the PLO's struggle for the liberation of Palestine and facilitated the occupation by making it less costly for the Israeli state. The establishing of the Palestinian Authority relieved Israel of the burden of providing for the needs of the Palestinian people. It also set up a Palestinian-run security body which took up policing the Palestinians, making it easier for Israel to control them and suppress the popular struggle.

Venezuela to significantly increase oil exports to China

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said additional Chinese investment will help boost oil production and exports.

Venezuela will increase its oil exports to China to one million barrels a day, President Nicolas Maduro has said, following a visit to Beijing.

Already a strong economic partner, China had agreed to invest an additional $5bn in Venezuela, Maduro said on Tuesday, adding that the investment would help it boost production and nearly double its oil exports to China.

"We are taking the first steps into a new economic era," he said, as cited by AP news agency. "We are on track to have a new economy, and the agreements with China will strengthen it."

China won’t weaken currency to help exporters amid US trade war, Premier Li Keqiang says

Comments to World Economic Forum in Tianjin are implicit rejection of Donald Trump’s claim that Beijing has been manipulating its currency

China has no intention of weakening its currency to help exporters and will not engage in any form of “competitive devaluation” of its exchange rate, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Wednesday, a day after the latest tit-for-tat measures in the US trade war.

Li told the World Economic Forum in Tianjin that Beijing had not manipulated the exchange rate of yuan to cope with trade tensions, rejecting speculation that the Chinese government deliberately engineered the 8 per cent depreciation of the yuan seen since March to offset the effects of US tariffs on Chinese imports.

“Some people think China deliberately [devalued the yuan]; this is groundless,” Li said, in an indirect response to US President Donald Trump’s allegations that Beijing is manipulating its currency.

US Firms In China Say Trump Tariffs Will Hurt Them , Not Make Them Move Home

American Chamber of Commerce reports ‘strong negative impact’ on its member companies and says only 6 per cent would consider moving to US

US-China trade war heats up as Beijing hits back at US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs

The new tariffs – of 5 per cent and 10 per cent – will come into effect on September 24, the same day as the US’ new duties, the Chinese Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Tuesday.

Beijing’s retaliation came after US President Donald Trump announced that the US will start to charge 10 per cent tariffs on US$200 billion worth of Chinese products from next Monday, significantly widening the scope of a trade war. These tariffs will then rise to 25 per cent on January 1.

All of these anti-Semitism allegations continue to sideline Palestinian suffering

As the row over what constitutes anti-Semitism rages in Britain, the very real fear that freedom of speech is being threatened has already been realised in America, according to one Jewish campaign group. At the heart of the argument is a decision by the Trump administration to change how the Education Department investigates allegations that Jewish students face discrimination; not surprisingly, the Trump team has backed an approach that is endorsed by pro-Israel groups.

The policy change has already prompted the reinvestigation of an event held seven years ago, involving Holocaust and Nakba survivors, which was deemed to be anti-Semitic because it included criticism of the Israeli government. The reopening of the 2011 case, dismissed under the Obama administration, means that anyone who supports Palestinian human rights is potentially going to be regarded as an anti-Semite, says Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP).

Down the Financial Rabbit Hole With President Trump

Once upon a time, there was a little-known energy company called Enron. In its 16-year life, it went from being dubbed America’s most innovative company by Fortune Magazine to being the poster child of American corporate deceit. Using a classic recipe for book-cooking, Enron ended up in bankruptcy with jail time for those involved. Its shareholders lost $74 billion in the four years leading up to its bankruptcy in 2001.

A decade ago, the flameout of my former employer, Lehman Brothers, the global financial firm, proved far more devastating, contributing as it did to a series of events that ignited a global financial meltdown. Americans lost an estimated $12.8 trillion in the havoc.

Despite the differing scales of those disasters, there was a common thread: both companies used financial tricks to make themselves appear so much healthier than they actually were. They both faked the numbers, thanks to off-the-books or offshore mechanisms and eluded investigations... until they collapsed.

Now, here’s a question for you as we head for the November midterm elections, sure to be seen as a referendum on the president: Could Donald Trump be a one-man version of either Enron or Lehman Brothers, someone who cooked “the books” until, well, he imploded?

“What is outrageous is that Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal for no good reason,” Fetzer said.

Pence's speech marks a fundamental change in the language that the White House has historically employed to articulate the United States' relationship with Israel," Dan Hummel, a fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, wrote in the Washington Post.

That fundamental change is towards Christian Zionism, an ideology that bases its political support for Israel on the belief that the modern state of Israel is a manifestation of prophecies in the Bible - and that the very fate of the United States is prophetically linked with Israel.

Hummel describes Pence as an "ardent Christian Zionist" who expresses his support for Israel in explicitly prophetic terms>>>>

Conceding Defeat in Iraq: The US Has Only Itself To Blame For Iran’s Growing Influence In The Country

He oversaw the process of foiling the independence referendum which Masoud Barzani held in Iraqi Kurdistan. Over the past few days, a few of the Strzok-Page texts from the curious “gap period” of December, 2016, to May, 2017, have trickled out. That was the time covering the Trump transition and the first several months of his administration (including then-FBI Director James Comey’s signing of the third FISA renewal on Carter Page), when leaks were wildly rampant. And now we understand why they were. We know from the texts that former FBI counterintelligence official Peter Strzok and his paramour Lisa Page, who was then the legal assistant to Andrew “Andy’s office” McCabe, were strategically leaking to the media. (McCabe is alleged to have been doing so as well.) This, quite obviously, was “the media leak strategy” coordinated with the DOJ. Donald Trump won the Republican nomination after making fools of a long roster of wishful-thinking candidates, among whom were senators Mark Rubio and Ted Cruz, and others. None of the dozen or so candidates survived the relentless assault of Donald Trump on their personality and politics

Donald Trump won because he touched a raw nerve among many of the tens of millions of White Americans living mainly in poor, abandoned industrial states in the Midwest and other rural areas around the country.
***
Those voting for Donald Trump truly believed he would make “America Great Again”, rekindling the America they had lost, the America that no longer offered them the jobs and dignity of employment.

In hindsight, Donald Trump did not make “America Great Again” for them. I believe that he sold them a bill of false hope, while doing a lot of good for his friends on Wall Street who had bailed him out of bankruptcy numerous times.

: U.S IS BLUFFING ON IDLIB – U.S WOULD ATTACK EITHER WAY BUT HASN’T BECAUSE IT CAN’T

The writing is on the wall – If Syria and Russia continue to prosecute the operation against US-backed terrorists in Syria, the US and their lackeys will attack Syria, and the US will unleash their Ukro-nazi attack dogs against the Donbass Republics. The implication being that if Syria and Russia desist from the operation to clear Idlib and Syria from the last few remaining abscesses of US-backed terrorism in Syria, the perilous situation will be de-escalated, and US control of Idlib and their terrorists there will become the status quo. Again, for a while. Ostensibly, in return, the big ukrop attack on Donbass Republics will also be shelved, at least for the moment. Or so they seem to be implying.

Of course, as usual the FUKUS powers are lying>>>

Trump Administration Publishes Plans to Tax Protests and Close White House Sidewalk to Protests

In a major reversal of long-standing federal policy, the Trump Administration has issued a new plan to charge demonstrators for the right to use our public parks, sidewalks and streets that are on federal land in the nation’s capital for First Amendment activity. Among other areas, this includes the National Mall, Lafayette Park, the Lincoln Memorial and the sidewalk in front of Trump Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The federal Pay-to-Protest in DC plan includes charging demonstrators for the cost of barricades and fencing erected at discretion of police; salaries of personnel deployed to monitor the protest; trash removal and sanitation charges; permit application fees and costs that the government will assess on “harm to turf.”

Bringing Down a President?

If anyone doubted that the top level of the intelligence agencies in Washington have dedicated themselves to ousting President Donald Trump, the past two weeks should have demonstrated precisely how such a plan of action is being executed. First came the leaked accounts of chaos in the Trump Administration derived from the Bob Woodward book Fear: Trump in the White House.

Then a New York Times op-ed entitled “I am part of the resistance inside the Trump administration” written by one Anonymous who claimed to be a senior official in the White House, exploded on the scene, describing how top officials were deliberately sabotaging Trump’s policies to protect the country.

Fear: Trump in the White House by [Woodward, Bob]

Finally, another another op-ed “Why so many former intelligence officers are speaking out” by former CIA Acting Director John McLaughlin appeared, providing a rationale for intelligence officers to speak up against the White House.

Even Trump-adoring cohost Harris Faulkner criticized him. “It becomes about the numbers and not about the people,” she chided. But she also took a dig at Puerto Rico, saying the U.S. territory had “quite frankly an infrastructure that didn’t support them even before the storm.” She also cast doubt on the death toll, claiming, “There’s forensic that needs to be done."

Yet Faulkner also criticized Trump for even going there. “So at this point, I don’t understand politically why anybody would wade into that, whether it’s the president or anybody else," she said. "Let’s let the science figure that out and in the mean time, let’s lead with our hearts.”

Yellow Journalism of Yellow-Bellied Bob Woodward & the NYT

It takes no time at all. You listen to Bob Woodward’s halting speech. You read his lumpen prose, and you get right away what undergirds his Trump-phobic tome, “Fear: Trump in the White House.”

Naively, the president had expected to fulfill his revolutionary campaign promises to the American voters, an assumption that threw Woodward and the D.C. elites for a loop.

If past is prologue, voters don’t—and should not—get their way. After all, the views of Trump voters on American power are polar opposites of those held by the permanent state.

What does “Boobus Americanus” know? Nothing!

Woodward and the New York Times’ anonymous anti-Trump whistleblower consider the president to be stark raving bonkers for not grasping that Rome on the Potomac moves to its own beat. It does not respond to voters, except to mollify them with “bread and circuses.”

Kushner: Trump’s measures against Palestinians won’t hurt peace

Punitive measures taken against the Palestinians by the Trump Administration, including the cutting of UN aid and the closure of the Palestinian consulate in Washington, has not hampered peace efforts, the US president’s senior advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner has said.

Speaking to the New York Times on the 25 anniversary of the Oslo Accords, Kushner argued that the US had taken brave stances against Palestinian demands.

“There were too many false realities that were created — that people worship — that I think needed to be changed,” he said. “All we’re doing is dealing with things as we see them and not being scared out of doing the right thing. I think, as a result, you have a much higher chance of actually achieving a real peace.”

Trump Casts Doubt On Trade Talk Breakthrough

‘If we meet, we meet?’: Trump casts doubt on trade talks breakthrough with China says ‘we are under no pressure to make a deal’

Hopes that the United States and China could soon break their trade impasse took a fresh hit on Thursday after US President Donald Trump said his administration was under no pressure to make a deal.

Appearing to respond to a Wall Street Journal article from Wednesday that suggested newly proposed high-level talks were in part the result of rising pressure on him to bring about a resolution to the trade war, Trump tweeted that the newspaper “has it wrong.”

“We are under no pressure to make a deal with China, they are under pressure to make a deal with us,” he said. “Our markets are surging, theirs are collapsing. We will soon be taking in Billions in Tariffs & making products at home.”

US Government Spends A Record $433 Billion In One Month As Deficit Explodes

Two days ago we previewed the the US budget deficit for the first 11 months of fiscal 2018, which according to CBO data, hit $895 billion, up $222 billion or 39% from the same period last year. Additionally, we noted that according to CBO calculations, the US would hit a $1 trillion deficit in calendar 2019, one year sooner than the previous forecast of 2020.

Today, the US Treasury released the detailed budget deficit breakdown for the month of September and the first 11 months of the year, and the numbers are scary.

According to the latest Monthly Treasury Statement, in August, the US collected only $219BN in tax receipts - consisting of $106BN in individual income tax, $93BN in social security and payroll tax, a negative $3BN in corporate tax and $24BN in other taxes and duties- a drop of 3.2% from the $226BN collected last August..

Revolution in the USA

***
It appears that in addition to all those chemical Novichok agents, WADA urine samples, hackers, sanctions and other geopolitical perversions, the USA has yet another reason for a headache - a revolution.

Donald Trump said before that his impeachment would cause global markets to collapse. It could be possible, although no one can say for sure whether the impeachment procedure is going to materialize. Apparently, Democrats would like to think about it as a "highly likely" thing, similarly to all the "highly likely" fake news that they have been generously generating lately.

Donald Trump does not have to search for words. He turned around and said that he has already made America great again. Mr. Trump has thus inadvertently given a trump card to his opponents, because it just so happens that he has done his job and can be free to go.

Why the U.S. Seeks to Hem in Russia, China and Iran

America’s three principal adversaries signify the shape of the world to come: a post-Western world of coexistence. But neolibera and neocon ideology is unable to to accept global pluralism and multipolarity, argues Patrick Lawrence.

The Trump administration has brought U.S. foreign policy to the brink of crisis, if it has not already tipped into one. There is little room to argue otherwise. In Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, and in Washington’s ever-fraught relations with Russia, U.S. strategy, as reviewed in my previous column, amounts to little more than spoiling the efforts of others to negotiate peaceful solutions to war and dangerous standoffs in the interests of an orderly world.

The bitter reality is that U.S. foreign policy has no definable objective other than blocking the initiatives of others because they stand in the way of the further expansion of U.S. global interests. This impoverished strategy reflects Washington’s refusal to accept the passing of its relatively brief post–Cold War moment of unipolar power.
