Dear President Trump: Please Read This Before Bombing Syria

Dear Mr. President,

You've said you're a smart man.

Now's the time to prove it ...

You've said that you'll get to the bottom of who carried out the latest Syrian chemical weapons attack.

We can help ...

Instead of bombing Syria for a chemical weapons attack, please prove that you are smart enough to learn the facts.

If you spend 5 minutes reading, you'll learn that Syria has been "framed" for more than 50 years, that the U.S. first carried out a "regime change" operation against Syria in 1949 and has been drooling to do it again ever since, that the Ruskies have framed other countries to justify war ... and that you're too smart to fall for the "Oldest Trick In the Book".

OF THE LIARS, BY THE LIARS, AND FOR THE LIARS

In today's enlightened age of alternative media and global internet communications, lies by rulers are quickly laid bare. Yet most people remain trapped by their beliefs of what they imagine their rulers to be, and greet each new revealed mendacity with, "What? Our ruler lied to us?" The question more properly ought to be, "When don't rulers lie to us?"

The historical fact is that all rulers lie pretty much all of the time, and each newly revealed lie ought not to be thought of as a shocking isolated incident, but merely a continuation of standard operating bullshit! In short, the vast majority of what you are told by rulers is a lie, and the rare moment of absolute truth a rare and precious gem worthy of celebration.

Here are some examples from history.

THE LIE OF THE (LAST) CENTURY

There is nothing new in a government lying to their people to start a war. Indeed because most people prefer living in peace to bloody and horrific death in war, any government that desires to initiate a war usually lies to their people to create the illusion that support for the war is the only possible choice they can make.

May hesitating to join Trump's attack on Syria, wants more evidence – Times

British Prime Minister Theresa May is reportedly not keen on joining the US in its potential strike against Syria. The PM told Donald Trump she will not act until there's more evidence of Syria's culpability, the Times reports.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump said that he was "very strongly, very seriously" considering a military option in Syria, promising to make a "major decision" within up to 48 hours.

While the heating-up rhetoric from Washington suggests a military response may be imminent, the UK might be second-guessing its strategic partner now. According to a report by the Times on Wednesday, May told Trump that she would not risk pounding Syria with missiles until she sees more compelling proof of Damascus's culpability in the incident on April 7.

Moscow to Trump: Are ‘smart’ missiles an attempt to destroy alleged chem attack evidence in Syria?

Responding to a threat from US President Donald Trump, who said Russia should prepare for “nice new and smart missiles” launched by America at Syria, Moscow said if the weapons were smart, they would target terrorists.

“Smart missiles should fly towards terrorists, not [Syria’s] lawful government, which has spent several years fighting against international terrorism on its territory,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in response to Trump’s tweet on Wednesday.

She added the US may be seeking to undermine an inspection by chemical weapons experts, who are planning to investigate on the ground in Syria after the alleged attack which sparked the current confrontation between Russia and the US.

Syrian, Russian jets crowd Syria’s coastal provinces in response to US threats

The Syrian and Russian air forces have been conducting a large number of flights along the Syrian coast in response to the U.S.’ latest threat of force against the government in Damascus.

According to a military source in the Latakia Governorate, Syrian and Russian jets have been conducting nonstop flights along Syria’s coast since 6:00 A.M. (Damascus Time), with both air forces sharing the Hmaymim Airport in Jableh.

The source added that the Syrian Air Force has moved several jets to the Russian operated Hmaymim Airport in southwest Latakia.

The reason for the Syrian Air Force moving their jets to the Hmaymim Airport is due to the threat posed by the possible U.S. attack on their military installations.

From Skripal To Syria, Will Western Bluffs Spark World War 3?

The situation in the Middle East and the world as a whole is a matter of skyrocketing concern. The risks of conflict were escalated a little over a month ago when UK Prime Minister Theresa May launched the “Skripal affair” and threatened Russia with cyberwar. Then the tune of chemical weapons supposedly used against Syrian “rebels” in Eastern Ghouta was sung more than a few times with the same notes of unsubstantiated arguments as a pretext to blame those who are working against the West’s interests. In Syria, the US and Britain are acting as the outright direct lawyers of jihadists, while the Syrian Army, supported by the Russian Air Force and volunteers from Iran, has virtually liberated Eastern Ghouta from jihadists.

US Reportedly Mulls 'Powerful Strike' on Syria, 22 Targets Include Russian Sites

US President Donald Trump has canceled his trip to South America in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government forces in the city of Douma in Eastern Ghouta. Moscow and Damascus, for their part, are pressing for a fair investigation into the allegations, maintaining that it was a false flag attack.

Last week, several media outlets reported, citing militants, that Damascus had dropped a chlorine bomb on Douma, which allegedly claimed up to 70 lives. While the United States has held the Syrian authorities accountable for the alleged attack, Bashar al-Assad's government has vehemently dismissed the allegations, insisting that the entire incident was staged.

Taking the World to the Brink of Annihilation

This was Predicted

As reported at Tass, the Chief of Russia’s General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, predicted the current events almost a month ago. The report from March 13 says, "Russia has hard facts about preparations for staging the use of chemical weapons against civilians by the government forces. After the provocation, the US plans to accuse Syria’s government forces of using chemical weapons … furnish the so-called ‘evidence’ … and Washington plans to deliver a missile and bomb strike against Damascus’ government districts."

Gerasimov noted that Russian military advisors are staying in the Syrian Defense Ministry’s facilities in Damascus and "in the event of a threat to our military servicemen’s lives, Russia’s Armed Forces will take retaliatory measures to target both the missiles and their delivery vehicles."

Trump Declares Qatar an Ally in the War Against Terror

Hosting the Qatari Emir on Tuesday, President Trump has declared the Qataris to be “a very big advocate,” praising them as a key ally in the war on terrorism. This is a major step, as only last year President Trump was accusing Qatar, a long-standing US ally, of funding terrorism.

The emir appeared not to appreciate the way Trump presented their alliance as sudden, insisting his nation has been cooperating with the US against terrorism funding all along. Trump’s changing view of Qatar is likely reflective of regional needs.

The US focus right now seems to be scrambling to ready a US-led, coalition attack on Syria, and the major US base at Qatar, the headquarters of US Central Command, would play a major role in any new US war in Syria. Trump’s past alienation of the Qataris could have been something of an obstacle to that, particularly with the Saudis, who have positioned themselves as hostile to Qatar, likely to join the war.

Crown Prince: Saudis May Take Part in US Attack on Syria

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to France has him right in the middle of negotiations of a US-led coalition to attack Syria. The prince confirmed at a news conference that the Saudi military could be involved in this operation.

“If our alliance with our partners requires it, we will be present,” Prince Mohammed confirmed. Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir also confirmed that discussions are ongoing with a number of different countries about the operation.

Jubeir said that the Saudi position is that Syria must be “held accountable,” over allegations of chemical weapon use. The Saudis have been backing regime change in Syria for years, so this position is unsurprising.

The US Has Lost Global Power, and Is Now Just Faking It

It’s a hard job being a global hegemon and the world’s sole superpower.

You have to keep the entire planet in line. Every country needs to be taught its place, and kept there, by force if need be. Now and again a country or two has to be conquered or destroyed, just to teach others a lesson. Plus you have to relentlessly meddle in other countries’ politics, rigging elections so that only US-friendly candidates can win, run regime change operations and organize colored revolutions. Stop doing this, and some countries will start ignoring you. And then the rest will quickly realize that you are losing control and go their separate ways while ignoring you.

Syrian Opposition to Launch Counter-Offensive After Possible US Strike - FSA

News about a new possible offensive in Syria comes as US President Donald Trump threatens with a missile strike on the country. Washington blames Damascus for conducting an alleged chemical attack in Douma, using reports by the controversial White Helmets as proof. Syria and Russia have denied the accusations, branding them a pretext for invasion.

A Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander Fateh Hassoun has announced that it will start a new offensive following a possible US strike on Syria. According to him, the FSA is planning on regaining lost areas and capturing new ones. He also claimed that the possible US strike would weaken Damascus' positions and will allow the start of "real negotiations."

‘Mutant fish in murky waters’: US brings global chaos & has no real friends, says Russia's UN envoy

Russia has warned the US and its allies against “fishing in murky waters” of the Middle East, causing further chaos there. The US shouldn’t assume it has friends, only countries unable to disagree, UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia said.

The US and its allies have failed to understand the warning of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words at the 2015 UN General Assembly, ambassador Nebenzia told the Security Council on Monday.

“Do you now understand what you have done?” Nebenzia repeated Putin’s question about the West’s reckless geopolitical games in the Middle East. “No, you do not.”

After challenging the narrative of a chemical attack in the suburban Damascus city of Douma as “fake news” – as no evidence was found of the alleged attack or the victims, after Syrian and Russian troops inspected the area liberated from Army of Islam militants – Nebenzia turned to the remarks made earlier by his US counterpart, Nikki Haley, who said that US and Russia “will never be friends.”

Flashback: Trump says Clinton Syria policy would lead to World War III

While the race for the White House was still on Donald Trump warned that Hillary Clinton’s proposed policy over Syria was so aggresive that it could lead to conflict with Russia. Now, 18-months later we face the very same prospect that candidate Trump once warned of.

This hasn’t happened by accident but is the result of President Trump’s policy over Syria. Rather than withdrawing U.S. forces from the Middle East, as he suggested he would while campaigning for the White House, Trump has overseen a steady build-up of U.S. forces in the region.

As Native Americans would say, Donald Trump speaks with a forked tongue. Over the second-half of 2017 there was a 33% rise in U.S. forces deployed in the Middle East, and that figure doesn’t include the massive U.S. military build-up underway in Afghanistan.

Earlier this month he was still talking about about withdrawing from Syria “very soon“:

For the first time in his career, Washington’s most belligerent foreign policy wonk is officially outside the bureaucratic box.
***
I was surprised to discover, however, that several diplomatic and military officials I have spoken with in the past few weeks are unworried about Bolton, claiming that he is not formally part of the military chain of command.

This bureaucratic perspective is far too sanguine. It does not adequately consider the informal forms of power and influence that national security advisors have historically exercised on military policy and foreign policy more generally. National security advisors have been relatively weaker or stronger compared with their predecessors. But they are intimately involved in nearly every sensitive and consequential national security issue that involves the president and on every operational level.

These False Flags Were Used To Start A War

Just in case one's history textbook had a few extra pages ripped out, this may be a good time to recall just how far one's government is willing to go to start a war under false pretenses.

Below is a partial list of some of the documented "false flag" events that were intended and/or served to start a war in recent and not so recent history.

Franco-Prussian War

Otto von Bismarck waved a "red flag" in front of the "gallic bull" by re-editing a telegram from the Prussian King so that it appeared as though the King had insulted a French ambassador during a time of extremely tense French-German international relations. The telegram is known as the Ems Dispatch. It helped encourage the states to go to war.

Russia blocks US resolution in UNSC on probe into alleged chemical incident in Syria

The UN Security Council gathered in New York to weigh in on the alleged chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma. It is expected to vote on the rival US and Russian draft resolutions, calling for an investigation.
Russia and the US have separately requested a vote on their draft resolutions on Douma. The alleged attack was reported on Saturday by anti-government groups, which claimed that the Syrian Army dropped a chlorine-filled munition on the area, affecting dozens of civilians. However, no solid facts on the purported incident have emerged yet.

The key difference between the two drafts is that the U.S. one would mandate an inquiry to lay blame for chemical weapons attacks in Syria, while the Russian draft would require investigators to report to the Security Council, which would then attribute responsibility.

Russia also asked the council to vote on a second new draft resolution on Tuesday that would specifically support sending investigators from the global chemical weapons watchdog to the site of an alleged deadly attack last Saturday.

Glenn Greenwald on Syria: U.S. & Israel Revving Up War Machine Won’t Help Suffering Syrian Civilians

We begin today’s show in Syria, where Israeli F-15 bomber jets have reportedly bombed a Syrian air base used by Iranian forces. There are reports that 14 people died in the strikes, including Iranian nationals. Israel is said to have launched the raid from Lebanon’s airspace. The Israeli bombing came a day after a suspected chemical weapons attack killed at least 60 people and wounded more than 1,000 in the Syrian town of Douma, the last rebel-held town in Eastern Ghouta. The Syrian opposition blamed the Assad government for carrying out the attacks, but Syria denied having any role. The chemical attack came one day after Syrian forces launched an air and ground assault on Douma. While international officials are still investigating what happened, President Trump took to Twitter to directly accuse Russian President Vladimir Putin of playing a role. The U.N. Security Council is meeting today to discuss the crisis in Syria.

This comes with the expectation that a US-led coalition, that would include France and the United Kingdom, will strike the Syrian military within the next 24 hours.

The reason for such a strike, a decision that US President Donald Trump is yet to make, is because the Syrian military have been blamed for an alleged chemical weapons attack in the East Ghouta town of Duma to the east of Damascus city center.

Russian chemical investigators have found no traces of chemicals being used at the alleged attack site, with Damascus approving an international investigation team to conduct their own research.

Trump Making ‘Major Decisions’ on Syria, Iran and Russia Response ‘Very Quickly’

The conflict between the U.S., the UK and Israel and Syria and its allies Iran and Russia looks set to escalate in the coming hours and days.

U.S. missile destroyer USS Donald Cook has quickly sailed to just off Syrian territorial waters and is reportedly being “harassed” by low-flying Russian warplanes. CNN Turkey reports that they have buzzed the “Arleigh Burke” class warship at least four times.

In an ongoing war of words, the U.S. is today expected to call for a U.N. Security Council vote on Tuesday on a proposal for a new inquiry into the responsibility for use of chemical weapons in Syria after reports of the poison gas attack on a rebel-held town in Eastern Ghouta.

The poison gas attack has been pinned on President Bashar al-Assad’s forces by the President Trump, PM May and some other western governments.

Trump Homeland Security Adviser Bossert resigns

This fellow got fired for questioning the Neocon/Israel Warmonger narration!

Bossert’s resignation comes just days after an appearance on ABC’s ‘This Week’ on Sunday, during which he questioned the “timing” of Saturday’s alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria, which came only days after President Trump promised a withdrawal of US forces from the country.

“American troops aren’t going to fix the six or seven different ongoing conflicts and wars going on in the Middle East or in Syria at this stage,” he said. “We need regional partnership increased and we need US presence decreased.”

North Korea’s definition of ‘denuclearization’ is very different from Trump’s

The White House is gearing up for President Trump to discuss denuclearization with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at their much anticipated summit next month. But what does “denuclearization” mean?

It depends on whom you are asking. To some in Washington, “the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” as Trump tweeted late last month, means Kim handing over his nuclear weapons and missile systems and allowing international inspectors to check that the regime is keeping its word.

To Pyongyang, it means something very, very different. It means mutual steps to get rid of nuclear weapons, including requiring the United States to take down the nuclear umbrella it has put up over South Korea and Japan.

I like the North Korean version better.

He took the opportunity to blast Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Special Counsel, and Rod Rosenstein.

The planet onhold: US and Russia on the verge of a military conflict over Syria

The two superpowers, the United States and Russia, are increasingly coming close to a military conflict in Syria after the latest chemical attack in the city of Duma to the east of Damascus city center, with Washington opening the possibility of bombing, and Moscow warning with serious consequences of such an evolution.

Indicative statements by Donald Trumb just before the meeting with the heads of the US Armed Forces. “We will make a decision today or very soon. And you will all know it. But we can not allow atrocities like the one we have seen … we can not allow these to happen. We have many military options. And we’ll let you know very soon “.

Syria to be the first test for Trump’s hawkish new security adviser

Syria provides John Bolton with first test as US President Trump’s national security adviser
He was one of a handful of hawks who led the Bush administration’s charge into Afghanistan and Iraq

As Donald Trump warned on Monday of an imminent US military response to chemical weapons use in Syria, the new head of his national security team was sitting directly behind him, his bristling white moustache a reminder of earlier American wars.

John Bolton was one of a handful of hawks who led the Bush administration’s charge into Afghanistan and Iraq, conflicts that are still going on as Bolton returns to centre-stage, after a decade in the political wilderness. His first day at work as Trump’s national security adviser focused on a new front, and the question of how to punish the Syrian regime and its backers for the alleged use of poison gas against a rebel-held enclave in the eastern Damascus suburbs.

Trump says he will meet Kim Jong-un in May or early June

Donald Trump says meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un may slip to June - but he’s hopeful it will lead to ‘de-nuking’
The US president has set a timeline for talks with Pyongyang’s leader and said he hopes they lead to ‘the de-nuking of North Korea’

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he was positive that an upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un - which he said is planned for next month or June - would ultimately lead to an end of the North’s nuclear weapons programme.

“We’ll be meeting with them sometime in May or early June and I think there’ll be great respect paid by both parties and hopefully we’ll be able to make a deal on the de-nuking of North Korea,” Trump told reporters at the start of a Cabinet meeting.

“They’ve said so. We’ve said so,” he added. “Hopefully, it’ll be a relationship that’s much different than it’s been for many, many years.”

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me, the old saying goes. So, tread carefully through the minefields of propaganda laid for the credulous in such low organs as The New York Times. The record so far shows that the blunt instruments of US strategic policy produce a consistent result: failed states.

The Happy-Go-Lucky Jewish Group That Connects Trump and Putin

Chabad wants to bring about Armageddon.

Chabad of Port Washington, a Jewish community center on Long Island’s Manhasset Bay, sits in a squat brick edifice across from a Shell gas station and a strip mall. Trump On Alleged Chemical Attack in Syria: 'This Is About Humanity, We're Talking About Humanity'

Speaking at the White House on Monday, Trump tried his best (and failed) to muster up moral outrage over the entirely unproven, alleged "chemical attack" in Douma, Syria.

Watching him lie like this, so poorly I might add, is just embarrassing.

Watching John Bolton peering over Trump's shoulder his first day on the job as Trump reads off a script pushing for war is also creepy as hell.

“To hell with it”: Trump increasingly weary of staff advice

The speech was written. A cast of relatable Americans with emotional stories was standing by to reinforce the message. But President Donald Trump was in no mood to play along.

“The hell with it,” Trump said, recounting the scene with his aides to a West Virginia crowd last week, Trump tossed the staff-prepared remarks on tax cuts in the air and ducked as the paper fluttered to the floor. “I said, ‘This is boring, come on.’ Tell it like it is.”

This president has never been one to stick to a script, but that abandoned speech illustrates a new phase in Trump’s presidency. He is increasingly at odds with his staff — and growing wise to their tactics.

AEOI Chief: Iran Able to Resume 20% Enrichment in Fordo in 4 Days

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said his organization enjoys the capability to restore 20-percent uranium enrichment at its Fordo nuclear facility in just 4 days if the 2015 nuclear deal is discarded by the other side.

"If senior Islamic Republic officials issue an order to resume the 20% enrichment, we can do it in Fordo within 4 days," Salehi told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.

He said this statement should be seen as a warning by the other side against discarding the nuclear deal, stressing that Iran can even show more extensive progress in other parts of its nuclear activities to go beyond the previous levels.

Iran had also warned last July that it enjoyed the capability to restore its uranium enrichment operations and even develop its capacity to 100,000 SWUs (Separative Work Units) if the nuclear deal with the world powers failed as a result of the US non-compliance with its undertakings.

Trade wars lead to real wars where the strong prey on the weak – economists to RT

Protectionism in international trade could not only wreck the economies of both nations but may disrupt global supply chains, raising prices for consumers across the globe. RT spoke to economists to discuss the potential impact of the latest developments.

Almost by definition, trade wars are negative-sum games and, as such, the chief antagonists would suffer, according to Dr. James Jingdong Wang, associate professor at City University of Hong Kong.

“In this case, the US and China are the top two economies of the world and also the largest two trading nations. Consequently, there could be little doubt that, should a full-fledged trade war break out, it would be a drag on the world economy at large,” said the expert.
