Assange charged with helping Manning crack password to leak classified US docs – DOJ statement

The US indictment against Julian Assange alleges that the whistleblower engaged in “conspiracy” with US Army soldier Chelsea Manning in 2010, according to a statement from the US Department of Justice.

The statement said Assange is charged with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion and alleged attempts to break the password for a classified US government computer.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Assange did that (and he had a past as a hacker prior to WikiLeaks), then the Nixon v WP/NYT does not apply and he is in a lot of trouble.

The irony is, the maximum sentence he faces is less time than he spent in that embassy. Had he been tried 7 years ago instead of seeking asylum, he would have been out free by now.

If Assange and.....

Ethan Allen and...

Manning can crack the password on a US Government computer containing classified documents, you have to wonder what,Russia and China or even Israel can do. We would seem to have bigger problems!
