The Berners Street Hocks - The Greatest Joke of the 19th Century

Theodore Hook was born on September 22, 1788 in Charlotte Street, London. He was the son of popular songs James Hook.

He was educated in private schools and he spent a year at Harrow School. Theodor was only 16 years old when he started working closely with his father on music, which included the return of successful soldiers, a comic opera which was very popular with the public.

The return of a soldier brought him £ 50 when he was only sixteen. During the next five or six years, they built many farms and melodramas.

For the things that Hook was most remembered, among them was the love of fans, practical jokes and fraud.
