On April 27, President Obama welcomed the University of Connecticut Lady Huskies, who had just won the NCAA women's basketball championship.
After the event, President Obama went to the White House basketball court to shoot hoop with the Lady Huskies. The White House press corps was not allowed to attend.
It appears that the Obama White House is desperately trying to get a lock on perception by carefully manipulating it just the way they want to.
It's an old trick. Pharaohs in Egypt had wonderful, winning battles depicted that .... well.... either didn't happen, or didn't show the real outcome.
And of course, in the 20th century, you had masters at it, like Leni Riefenstahl, who did an amazing job of making Hitler's Germany look like heaven.
But this is why the government is desperately afraid of the blogosphere, and will try anything to get it shut down.
And to the corporate media folks who were shut out, and are complaining about it: get over it. This is a non-story.No matter how telegenic, bright, and athletically gifted these young women may be, an NCAA
womens' basketball championship has absolutely no effect on the lives of Americans.
Of course, you do have some issues you need to be looking at, but won't.
For example, what about the aftermath of the Patriot Act, the continuous use of torture, the potential permanent detention of US citizens, US-backed assassination squads roaming the planet to "neutralize" people the government doesn't like, the real state of the economy, etc.?!?
If you were actually doing your job, and telling the American people the truth, political blogs wouldn't need to exist.
But you won't; so we have to.
