Google is warning that bots are causing more problems for business -- but many companies are only focused on the most obvious attacks.

At the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic Microsoft chief Satya Nadella said Microsoft had seen "two years' worth of digital transformation in two months." Google now sees that attackers have adapted to these changed conditions and are boosting attacks on newly online businesses, with bots high on the list of tools used.

Bot attacks can cover anything from web scraping where bots are used to gather content or data, to bots that try to beat Captchas, to ad fraud, card fraud and inventory fraud. Of particular concern are distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS), where junk traffic is directed at an online service with the purpose of flooding it to the point of knocking it offline.

A Paris court has found former French President Nicolas Sarkozy guilty of corruption - which is only the second time in modern history that a French head of state has gone down on such a charge - for which he's been issued a sentence of three years in prison, two of which have been suspended.

For the first time ever, Statistics Canada has released race-based homicide data that reveals a stark representation of Black Canadians among homicide victims in 2019, prompting calls for targeted mental health programming for members of the Black community.

StatCan’s 2019 homicide data, released on Oct. 29, shows one-third of homicide victims were visible minorities — 44 per cent of whom were identified as Black, yet Black people account for only 3.4 per cent of the Canadian population. This means Black people are 4.3 times more likely to be victims of homicide in Canada.

Biologically female athletes shouldn’t be forced to compete with athletes who are born biological males, student-athlete Linnea Saltz told an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Saltz, who participates in the highest level of U.S. intercollegiate athletics known as NCAA Division I, said Feb. 27 that her views don’t stem from a desire to discriminate against transgender women, but rather from the belief that accommodating for LGBTQ athletes shouldn’t come at the expense of destroying women’s sports and the dreams of biological female athletes.

“We use this trigger word ‘inclusion,’ but people don’t realize that by being inclusive, in that sense, it is exclusionary to people like myself. And so we don’t want men’s and co-ed sports, we want men’s and women’s sports. And that’s why there is the separation of sex within sports as well,” said Saltz, who was a guest speaker on a panel at the annual conservative conference, held in Orlando this year.

Doctor Scott Segal told NBC News that Americans should consider wearing FOUR face masks if they want the most effective protection against spreading COVID-19.

Yes, really.

As we highlighted yesterday, Dr. Fauci advised Americans to begin wearing two masks, saying that it “makes common sense” for more than one layer to be more effective.

However, Fauci was outdone by researchers at Virginia Tech, who said that two face masks only provide 50-75% efficacy and that three masks should be worn to achieve 90% effectiveness.

But why stop at 90 per cent?

Research suggests reparations for slavery could have reduced COVID-19 infections and deaths in U.S.

Civil rights activists have long called for monetary reparations to the Black descendants of Africans enslaved in the United States as a financial, moral, and ethical form of restitution for the injustices of slavery.

Now, a study led by Harvard Medical School researchers suggests reparations could also have surprising public health benefits for Black individuals and the entire nation.

Calling them “Community Funding Projects” (CFP) rather than using the infamous earmarks label, House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) approved late Friday that earmarks are again part of the congressional spending scene.

“Members want Congress to help their communities, particularly now as the pandemic exposed so many inequalities and needs,” DeLauro stated while declaring the return. “Community Project Funding will allow Members to put their deep, first-hand understanding of the needs of their communities to work to help the people we represent.”

Earmarks before were obscure spending orders inserted, usually anonymously, into significant pieces of legislation that frequently served a congressman’s family members, supported special interests, or campaign donors.

The White House plans to roll out a new policy starting Monday that would charge journalists $170 to take a COVID-19 test every time they enter the grounds, and reporters in the press corps and beyond are not happy about it.

What are the details?

The Washington Post revealed the plan, reporting that the Biden administration is getting pushback from media outlets large and small who are unhappy about being asked to pay the government what could amount to tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege of doing their jobs.

But the Biden administration says the tests are just too expensive for the White House to keep paying.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) issued a Sunday night statement explicitly denying claims that he touched and forcibly kissed a former aide, and suggested that inappropriate comments he made about another aide's sex life were nothing more than 'good-natured teasing.'

"Questions have been raised about some of my past interactions with people in the office," said Cuomo, adding "I never intended to offend anyone or cause any harm. I spend most of my life at work and colleagues are often also personal friends."

NASA's Perseverance rover has spent the last week on the surface of Mars and in that short time has already sent back thousands of photos - including a cheeky selfie. The latest rover from the US space agency landed on the Red Planet just before 21:00 GMT on Thursday, February 18 after a hair raising '7-minutes of terror'. Among the most iconic images sent back was the rover dangling over the Martian surface, attached to the sky crane that helped it safely land on the Red Planet. Other images returned include a sensational high resolution 360-degree panorama of the Martian landscape and a video of Perseverance's nail biting landing.

Before we begin, a quick disclaimer: I am on record at least a dozen times as stating that no, I do not believe "all" women, and that men should not automatically be condemned and have their lives and careers ruined because of an accusation, without any proof, or investigation, etc......

Our first example of extreme hypocrisy involves the "Butcher of Albany", New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Critics on Twitter have been chilled by a major design element of the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference that eerily resembles the insignia of a volunteer unit of Adolf Hitler’s notorious Waffen SS.

A square whose corner juts out from the CPAC stage from connected back-to-back “check marks” bears a striking resemblance to the ancient Norse Odal Rune adopted by the SS unit, which would be particularly apparent from the stage side.

The Anti-Defamation League has noted that after World War II the Odal (or Othala) Rune became commonly used by white supremacists in Europe and North America.

In response to some 100,000 tweets about the issue and climbing, CPAC organizer Matt Schlapp angrily blasted the “stage design conspiracies” as “outrageous and slanderous.” He touted CPAC’s “long standing commitment to the Jewish community.”

The White House has issued a belated response - or ultimately a weak attempt at damage control - amid growing bipartisan outrage that despite his prior "tough" talk on the campaign trail to "hold the Saudis to account", crown prince Mohammed bin Salman is getting off scot-free.

As I’ve detailed in my current series of articles on the COVID PCR test fraud, the test is run in cycles. [1]

Each cycle is a quantum leap of magnification of the swab sample taken from the patient.

When the test is run at 35 cycles or higher, the result is meaningless. Millions of those results are false-positives. The patient is falsely told he is “infected.” [2]

However, most labs FRAUDULENTLY run the test at 40 cycles, or even higher. And the labs do not disclose, to patients or doctors, how many cycles they are deploying. [3] [3a] [3b]

So…here is a legal strategy lawyers should consider.

If a client is told to get tested, his lawyer states the following: “My client needs a sworn affidavit from the lab declaring how many cycles will be used.”

If the lab refuses to comply, sue them.

In his first speech since leaving the White House, former President Donald Trump declared his “America First” movement to be far from over, criticized the Biden administration, charted the course for the future of the Republican Party, and hinted that he may run for president again in 2024.

Speaking before an energized crowd at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Trump said that President Joe Biden had the “most disastrous first month of any president in modern history.” Trump cautioned that Biden has followed a radical socialist path that could lead to communism.

“We will save and strengthen America, and we will fight the onslaught of radicalism, socialism, and indeed, it all leads to communism,” Trump said.

“We all knew that the Biden administration was going to be bad, but none of us imagined just how bad they would be, and how far left they would go.”

Over the course of this pandemic I have often wished that Hans Rosling was still alive. For those who are unaware, he was a medical doctor and a professor at Karolinska Institutet who had a particular interest in global health and development. In 2012, Time magazine declared him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

During the last few months of his life, in 2017, he wrote an excellent book called “Factfulness”, that summed up most of his thinking, and described how many of the things people “know” about the world are completely wrong. Hans Rosling is something of a hero of mine, and if he was still alive, I’m sure he would have contributed to bringing som sanity to the current situation. With his global influence, I think people would have listened.

Antifa’s Saturday night protest in Portland quickly turned into a violent riot as protesters marched along Portland’s Pearl District, where they proceeded to vandalize businesses and mob police officers.

The riots come as the Biden administration opened a temporary child migrant facility in Texas amid a spike in attempted crossings over the border and lower capacity limits at permanent facilities during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Antifa organized Saturday night’s protest in order to ‘abolish deportations’ openly on Twitter earlier in the week, calling it a ‘direct action’ while encouraging participants to dress in black and “be water.”

Governors across the country are lifting coronavirus restrictions, despite warning signs ahead of a new spike from virus variants.

The moves in several states are risky, given that while cases and hospitalizations have declined dramatically in recent weeks, they are still at alarmingly high levels, and are showing signs of spiking up again.

While vaccinations are starting to help reign the pandemic back under control, they are not yet widely available, leaving a crucial period of perhaps a couple of months until increases in vaccine supply can create a larger dent in the pandemic and help ease a return to normal.

The Justice Department (DOJ) on Saturday informed a federal judge that it plans to appeal his ruling that found the federal government does not have the right to launch a nationwide eviction moratorium.

“The Department of Justice respectfully disagrees with the February 25 decision of the district court in Terkel v. CDC that the CDC’s eviction moratorium exceeds Congress’ powers under the Commerce Clause and the Necessary and Proper Clause, and the Department has appealed that decision,” Brian Boynton, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Civil Division, stated.
