Martenson: We Are On Our Own In The Post-COVID World

Authored by Chris Martenson via PeakProsperity.com,

It's time to be our own heroes, because those in charge sure won't be...

Even before the coronavirus pandemic hit, things weren’t all that great for the bottom 90% of households.

The median household was barely scraping by with ultra-low financial reserves, meager retirement savings and high levels of debt. All while being relentlessly crushed by cost of living inflation running far higher than the blatantly fraudulent government statistics offered up by the BLS.

Even more infuriating, the economic pie was preferentially handed to the top 10% — well, more specifically, to the top 1%. And even more dramatically to the top 0.1%. Don’t even get me started on the 0.001%…

While often presented in the media as a puzzling thing without any root cause, both the income and wealth gaps are the direct result of Federal Reserve policies and actions Helped, of course, by lobbyists for the elites influencing Congressional tax legislation.

So it’s no accident that over time, tax rates on the rich have been substantially cut:

This chart says that the very highest income earners have a lower effective tax rate than anybody else in the nation. Billionaire Warren Buffett famously pays a lower rate than his secretary. Goldman Sachs bankers are taxed more favorably than their Uber drivers. Again, this isn’t happening by accident.

And it reveals that, despite the fiction of fairness and freedom, America’s true values and priorities are aimed at funneling more and more of its wealth to in the pockets of an elite few.

Said another way: The final looting operation has begun.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Start living as frugally as you can.

If you live in a state with a very high taxation rate, do your due diligence and vote with your feet and move to a state with a minimum tax rate, and a low cost of living.

I am still amazed by the prices of things here in Indiana, versus the prices we used to pay on Oahu.

Get your credit cards paid down, or off, if humanly possible.

Buy a freezer, and take advantage of any specials your local market or big-box store may offer; the problem with meat availability, and price, after so many meat processing plants have been shut down due to Covid-19, are not going to go away any time soon.

Learn to slow-cook; there are many frugal, brilliant gourmet recipes which can be done elegantly and well in a crock pot.

Please remember how an incredible dish like Boeuf Bourguignon came into being; someone, somewhere in France, had the horse-sense to realize that if you slow-cooked a cut of beef that would taste like shoe leather if you cooked it quickly, that it would melt in your mouth.

Bravo, to whoever came up with this approach!! :-)

If you like clothing, learn what makes you look good, and what defines your style, that you don't necessarily have to purchase in a store, and try buying on-line; you can get a lot more quality for far less than the price of retail shopping.

Don't think you can "wait this out until things get better"; they are not going to get better, but only progressively worse.

The proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel" may only be coming from an on-coming train, which I see as a huge potential for a world war, that the US and its allies may well not win.

From my perspective, this war has already started, and just hasn't been declared yet, and you see flashes of it in areas of the world the US has already occupied; Iraq; Afghanistan; and portions of US-occupied Syria.

And what really frosts me, is the reality that no matter who gets elected in November, it's the "War Party" which always, always wins. I cannot tell you who will win November's election, but I am almost ready to bet real money what will happen after that person takes the Oath of Office in January; a return to a draft in this country, because the "all-volunteer" military model the US government has been using, is just flat not working.

The quality and quantity of people volunteering for military duty, just generally is not there, and if you speak with senior officers under cover of anonymity in our armed forces, they will confirm that to you.
