New Pentagon training refers to protesters, journalists as 'adversaries'

A new mandatory Pentagon training course aimed at preventing leaks refers to protesters and journalists as "adversaries" in a fictional scenario designed to teach Defense Department personnel how to better protect sensitive information.

The new course was recently launched as part of Defense Secretary Mark Esper's effort to improve "operational security," or OPSEC, and clamp down on leaks. The training materials are public and include a video message from Esper, as well as a July 20 memo outlining his concerns about operational security and directing all DoD personnel — military, civilian and on-site contractors — to take the course within the next 60 days.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Secretary Esper, allow me to introduce myself; I am Claire Karst Rivero, a published Christian composer, and a Christian pacifist activist.

I have advocated, peacefully and rationally, for many years, for a US government which understands that there are many tools in its "arsenal" to get what it wants, geopolitically, through moral, responsible, and hard-won negotiations.

I would never, knowingly, use any information which could compromise the government of the country of my birth and my nationality.

That being said, sir, I graduated from high school at the height of the Vietnam War, and at that point, understood the depths to which the Federal government would lie to me, and my brother and sister Americans, to appear to be winning a war which was, according to the Pentagon Papers, unwinnable.

Unfortunately, sir, the lies still continue, regarding countries like Iran, the only "crime" of which they have been tried and convicted in the court of hysterically illogical US public opinion, was throwing out the US puppet, the Shah, and replacing him with an Islamic theocracy.

And of course, Secretary Esper, this country HATES theocracies... unless, of course, the country creating that theocracy is the State of Israel, which did this in July of 2018.

Israel Declares Itself 'Jewish State,' Jerusalem as Eternal Capital

I would like to politely remind you that while Israel does NOT have a constitution, Iran does. And that constitution means that although I cannot celebrate Communion at a Christian, English-speaking church in Iran, I can worship with that faith community.

We are constantly told that we have "enemies everywhere", particularly in Russia, South America, Iran, and China. But I would logically suggest, sir, that it has been US foreign policy, which has driven people critical of US foreign policy together as a matter of necessity and survival.

It is utterly no accident, Secretary Esper, looking at US sanctions against countries like Venezuela and Iran, that these countries are working together to circumvent those sanctions as best they can.

Sir, I would like to assure you that I am NOT your enemy; I'm just a 71 year old blogger, weighing in at about 112 pounds soaking wet, who believes that fact, truth, logic, and moral sense should be driving this country's foreign policy; your true enemy... is those decisions taken by this administration which do not honor fact, truth, logic, and moral sense.
