Senior Foreign Policy Official: Israel Behind Dividing Muslim World

Head of Iran's Strategic Foreign Relations Council Seyed Kamal Kharrazi blasted the Tel Aviv regime for creating rift among the Muslim states, and said that Israel is the main cause for insecurity in the Middle East. "The Zionist regime is the main reason behind division among the Muslims, specially regional states," Kharrazi said on Monday. He, meantime, underlined that the issue of Palestine today is of special significance and Muslim states should pay special attention to it. Kharrazi underlined Iran’s interest in promoting unity among the Muslims, and said, "Israel is main sponsor of terrorism in the region." In relevant remarks in late October, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi strongly blasted the Israeli regime for striving to create rifts among Muslim countries in a bid to cover up its 70-year-long occupation of Palestine and massacre of the Palestinian people. Qassemi's remarks came in reaction to the recent visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Oman and his meeting with Oman's Sultan Qaboos. "The Muslim countries should not allow Tel Aviv to create further trouble for the region, under the pressure of the White House," the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said while deploring Netanyahu’s unannounced trip to Oman two days earlier. "Undoubtedly, Tel Aviv regime seeks to create rifts among Muslim countries via covering up 70 years of occupation, aggression and massacre of the oppressed Palestinian nation," he added.
