Seven Years Ago Today, The 'Irvine 11' Dared to Heckle An Israeli Ambassador on an American Campus- & Learned How 'Special' Israel Really Was
Seven years ago, on Feb 8, 2010, students at UC Irvine protested a speech given by Israeli ambassador Michael Oren. They heckled the Israeli, calling him a war criminal and other such things, and were escorted out of the auditorium by campus police. But that wasn't the end of it. It was only the beginning of a years-long legal battle and criminal prosecution which shockingly illustrated just who Americans 'aren't allowed to heckle.' You can watch the video of the students 'crimes' here. Nearly a year after the incident, prior to the statute of limitations, a rabbi paid a visit to the Orange County, CA Districy Attorney- who swiftly charged them at the very last minute & aggressively prosecuted all of them. They were all eventially convicted.
