Turkish Security Forces Detain 5 ISIL Suspects Plotting Attacks in Istanbul

Turkish security forces detained five suspected members of the ISIL terrorist group in the country's Northern Samsun province, who were planning to carry out attacks in Istanbul, local media said. The statement said that Turkish security forces received information that seven ISIL suspects had been planning to travel to Istanbul to carry out attacks there, Yenisafak reported. On August 11, Turkish police detained 22 people on suspicion of being ISIL members in the country's Eastern Elazig province. Over the past few years, Turkey was hit by a series of deadly terrorist attacks committed by ISIL, including the attack at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul on January 1, which resulted in the deaths of 39 people, including over 20 foreigners.
