As details continue to emerge of last week’s US attacks on pro-Syrian forces, it appears that dozens, or by some accounts scores, of the slain were actually Russian military contractors working for the Syrian government. The raises the stakes about US attacks in Syria fueling a direct conflict with Russia.

Over the weekend, the US struck again, with officials now confirmed that a US MQ-9 Reaper drone attacked and destroyed a Russian T-72 tank in Eastern Syria, in what US officials are claiming was an act of “self-defense.”

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Harrigian says the drone saw the tank “that took a shot at us,” and that he believes the US rules of engagement allowed for the tank to be destroyed in self-defense to protect the drone. Three people within were killed.

As to who they killed, US officials are no more forthcoming than they ever are, with Lt. Gen. Harrigian saying the US is “not going to speculate” on who they killed, and that they flat out don’t know whose tank it was, or who was driving it

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government and military appear to be inching toward a direct conflict with Russia in Syria; this appears to be by design.

And I would like to remind our readers that Russia was invited by the Syrian government to work with their military to remove the jihadists from Syria.

What the US government has done, and there is no way to put lipstick on this particular geopolitical pig, is invaded a soverign country which has NOT invited the US military for assistance.

Despite whatever name the military and government give to its military action in Syria, this is about partitioning the country, period, end of discussion.

Even Sergei Lavrov, that usually mild mannered Russian minister of Foreign Affairs, said it out loud, and exasperatedly, this last Tuesday:

The US is Trying to create a quasi-state in Syria

The article, from RT, written on 13 Feb 2018, goes on to state:

"The US has likely taken a “course to create a quasi-state” in the Kurdish SDF militia-held regions of Syria, despite the proclaimed adherence to the territorial integrity of the country, Russia’s FM Sergey Lavrov said.

The US activities in Syria are driven by undertaking “dangerous, unilateral steps” instead of trying to “achieve a common understanding” between all the parties, Lavrov told reporters on Tuesday.

He warned that Washington’s true goal might be the partitioning of Syria. The recent steps of Washington, including the creation of the so-called Border Security Force (BSF), operating under the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), have prompted even more questions in Moscow."

Folks, we are being "frog boiled" into a major confrontation with Russia over Syrian territory.

This US invasion of Syria was completely illegal; but then again, what should we expect from a US foreign policy has devolved into "Invasions R Us", from the Bush regime to the present.

We had better start asking our (alleged) Representatives in Congress some rather pointed questions, including why we are really in Syria in the first place, and what the hell are we doing, colluding with Saudi Arabia in war crimes in Yemen.

If we do not, I expect a relatively quick return to the draft in this country, coupled with even more repressions of American civil liberties, up to, and including, the invocation of martial law here, so that the American Deep State can go on conducting its endless wars with absolute impunity, dealing with no protests against them whatsoever.
