US warship crashes into cargo vessel - rescue mission underway

AN AMERICAN warship has collided with a merchant vessel near the Strait of Malacca, near Singapore.

The USS John S. McCain guided-missile destroyer collided with the vessel Alnic MC at 11.24pm BST on Sunday (6.24am on Monday in local time).

The Destroyer, nicknamed “Big Bad John”, was travelling to a routine port visit in Singapore.

The collision happened as the vessel was entering into port.

Initial reports say that John S.McCain has damaged the left side at the rear.
