Violence in NW Pakistan triggers exodus
About 100,000 Pakistani villagers have fled clashes between security forces and militants in a northwestern region raising the danger of a big humanitarian problem, a government official said on Friday.
The displaced people are creating one more problem for a new coalition government pre-occupied with political wrangling while economic and security problems mount.
The situation in Pakistan is getting perilously close to melt-down, with no real resolution in sight.
Of course, the more "unrest" we see here, the more the US and NATO will press for Western "boots on the ground" inside the sovereign territory of Pakistan, with - or without - the Pakistani government's permission.
