Anti-Gun Georgia Governor Deal Meets Personally with Bibi Netanyahu

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, who vetoed a concealed carry bill yesterday, has a long history with Israel. The 73-year-old Baptist lawyer, who only switched to the Republican party after many years in office as a Democrat, went to Israel in 2014 to personally meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Deal brought along his wife and a gaggle of government slugs. He bragged that in only one year since he became governor, "imports from Israel to Georgia increased by 71 percent and total trade increased by 46 percent! Israel is a vital partner in friendship! We are here to bolster our ties as we celebrate Georgia’s 20th year in the Israeli market and our long-standing commitment to the country,” Deal said on his Israel trip, as he made deals.

The Weaknesses that Doomed Ted Cruz

Indiana was supposed to be friendly territory for Cruz, who burst onto the national scene in 2012 by harnessing the tea-party movement, and was the first to grasp that the simmering anger that propelled him to office could also fuel a presidential campaign. Hoosier State Republicans had traded Richard Lugar for the archconservative Richard Mourdock the same year Cruz was elected to the Senate, and as recently as a few weeks ago there was reason to believe they could revive Cruz ahead of the campaign’s final stretch. But in the end, like those in so many other states this cycle, they broke for a candidate with fewer conservative bonafides but more of a claim on the outsider status and anger that Cruz once owned.

Cruz lost Indiana to Donald Trump by 16 points on Tuesday>>>

Bill Kristol prefers Hillary to Trump: What happened to all those conservative principles?

Kristol is just fine with a Hillary Clinton presidency because fundamentally the neocons do not have any conservative principles at all. It’s always been a sham and a masquerade. Since their origins in the Democratic Party, they have always been on the left at heart when it comes to social policy, and any deviation from that is only the result of strategic decisions, not principle. They are completely unprincipled, and the Trump candidacy has brought this to the fore.

TTIP—American Economic Imperialism by Paul Craig Roberts

These so-called “free trade agreements” are not trade agreements. The purpose of the “partnerships,” which were drafted by global corporations, is to make corporations immune to the laws of soverign countries in which they do business. Any country’s sovereign law whether social, environmental, food safety, labor protections—any law or regulation—that impacts a corporation’s profits is labeled a “restraint on trade.” The “partnerships” permit corporations to file a suit that overturns the law or regulation and also awards the corporation damages paid by the taxpayers of the country that tried to protect its environment or the safety of its food and workers.

The law suit is not heard in the courts of the country or in any court. It is heard in a corporate tribunal in which corporations serve as judge, jury, and prosecutor.

In other words, the “partnerships” give global corporations the power to overturn democratic outcomes. Allegedly, Europe consists of democracies. Democracies pass laws protecting the environment and the safety of food and labor, but these laws democratically enacted reduce profits. Anything less than a sweatshop, with starvation wages, no environmental protection, no safety legislation for food or worker, can be overturned at will by global corporations under the terms of the “partnerships.”

Only a traitor, a well paid one, could sign such a pact.

GOP Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia, a former U.S. Congressman, today vetoed HB 589, a bill that would have allowed college students to carry concealed weapons on campus. The liberal republican began by quoting the second amendment but added his own twist, opining "It would be incorrect to conclude, however, that certain restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms are unconstitutional." After a rambling 14-paragraph screed, the traitor concluded "From the early days of our nation and state, colleges have been treated as sanctuaries of learning where firearms have not been allowed. US facing a currency war over watchlist?

US markets and exporters begin the month with what some might dub a new Currency War, after the US Treasury provocatively includes Germany - the jewel in the euro - on its new forex watchlist

Germany will find itself rubbing shoulders, as well as its chin, with trading nations like China and Japan on a new currency watchlist - warning that all three faced extra scrutiny and potential retaliation by Washington as a result of concerns over growing imbalances in their trade relationship with the US.

The action comes amid continuing political pressure in the US for the Federal government to take a stronger stand against currency manipulation.

The timing is also in step with evidence of a strengthening of the Japanese yen in the wake of last week's decision by the Bank of Japan to do nothing on the monetary policy front. Markets had expected the central bank to boost economic stimulus.

The action also follows US GDP numbers last week which laid bare how a strong dollar continued to be a drag on US growth.

So, while the Federal Reserve finds itself increasingly boxed in trying to figure out if and when it might hike rates, so the dollar continues to gain and gives the US government reason to intervene.

While the Argentine government has recently shown signs that it may take the side of farmers over Monsanto, the international agricultural corporation is not willing to simply accept defeat. Nor is it even willing to accept a minor obstacle in its attempt to dominate the food supply.

Shortly after the government of President Mauricio Macri passed a resolution officially giving control of the analysis of seeds, Monsanto is now set to challengethe Argentine government’s decision.

How the CIA Writes History

A dozen boxes of Cleveland Cram’s papers also offered hope of clarifying what the mole hunt cost in terms of lives and money. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the CIA hired Cram to write an 11-volume study of Angleton’s tenure as counterintelligence chief. His encyclopedic opus has never been declassified, but Cram was not shy about sharing his severe judgment of Angleton’s professionalism in a separate CIA monograph based on some of his research. The library records for the Cram papers identified a wide range of Angleton-related material.

When I asked to see the Cram and Applewhite papers, a staff archivist told me both collections had been removed from public view. The CIA, he explained, was reviewing the boxes for “security material.” He said he thought the material would be returned “by the fall” of 2015. When I asked to see the library records for the Cram papers again, I was told the CIA had removed those from public view, too.

“They knew you were coming,” Tim Weiner told me. Author of the best-selling CIA history Legacy of Ashes, Weiner suggested the agency had learned I was writing an Angleton biography and acted preemptively to protect itself.

The diplomatic uproar over the Der Spiegel report about German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s despair over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and of the ongoing construction in the settlements is not damaging Netanyahu politically. On the contrary. However, anyone who has spoken with senior German officials over the past two years knows that the claims that Germany is less inclined to unconditionally support Israel, which has since been denied (at least partially) by sources close to the chancellor, is a reliable reflection of reality. Germany, Israel’s most important ally in Europe, feels Netanyahu is leading it by the nose and taking it for granted while he keeps boosting the settlement enterprise.

Colorado Supreme Court Rules State Law Trumps Local Bans On Fracking

State's high court calls Longmont, Fort Collins measures on fracking "invalid and unenforceable"

Colorado's Supreme Court ruled against Front Range cities' push to limit oil and gas development near people Monday, saying state power to regulate the industry trumps local measures, which the court deemed "invalid and unenforceable."

The court overturned Fort Collins' five-year moratorium on fracking within the city limits. Justices concluded it "operationally conflicts" with state law and therefore, under well-established principles, must be pre-empted by the state. It also rejected Longmont's 2012 ban on fracking because it "materially impedes" use of state power.

Story Of Incarcerated Teen Shows Injustice Of Juvenile Imprisonment

By the time Karter Kane Reed became a teenager, his hometown of New Bedford, Massachusetts, had been dubbed “the most violent place in New England” by the FBI. And violence was just one of the Whaling City’s problems. According to Jean Trounstine’s Boy With a Knife, between 1985, when Reed was 9, and 1993, when he killed a schoolmate, a slew of major employers had moved out of the area, among them, Goodyear Tires, Stride Rite Shoes and Morse Cutting Tools. This meant that unemployment and poverty were endemic, leaving most residents of the hardscrabble town — including the Reeds — struggling.

ISIS Releases New Kill List of 3,600 Random New Yorkers — FBI to Visit Each Personally

Now we’re supposed to believe that ISIS’ Caliphate Cyber Army has leaked the names and home and email addresses of 3,600 average people living in New York, urging terrorists to randomly target and kill them because… terror?

The info was reportedly posted on an ISIS-only channel along with the statement, “We want them #Dead” — because even terrorists know the importance of hashtags.

Meanwhile, this situation is being taken so seriously, it is being reported that police and the FBI are going to personally visit each person on the list and warn them that they have been personally threatened by ISIS… so they can… do…

Harvard Mumps Outbreak: All of the Infected Were Vaccinated

Perhaps this is why this story hasn't been big news... there's no Big Pharma propaganda value.

One of the most popular myths among supporters for mass vaccinations, is the idea of herd immunity. If only everyone was thoroughly vaccinated, then collectively we’d all be safer. Any disease outbreak would be quickly stifled, since there would be so few people who it could spread to. Of course, vaccines only give herd immunity when they actually work, which isn’t always the case.

It’s certainly not the case at the prestigious Harvard University, where over the past two months 40 students have contracted mumps. The school is scrambling to isolate the outbreak and has promoted prevention strategies among the student body as final exams approach.

The EU exists only to become a superstate. Britain has no place in it

For Britain, the issue in the coming European referendum is not Europe, with its great history, incomparable culture, and diverse peoples, but the European Union.

To confuse the two is both geographically and historically obtuse. European civilisation existed long before the coming of the EU, and will continue long after this episode in Europe’s history is, hopefully, over.
“But,” comes the inevitable question, “what is your alternative to membership of the EU?” A more absurd question it would be hard to envisage.

The alternative to being in the EU is not being in the EU. And it may come as a shock to the little Europeans that most of the world is not in the EU – and that most of these countries are doing better economically than most of the EU.

Denmark extends controls on German border, EU set to authorise more

Denmark extended temporary controls at its border with Germany on Monday, imposed to help control an influx of migrants, as the European Commission confirmed it would shortly authorise more such extensions within the passport-free Schengen zone.

Seven members of the Schengen zone, including Germany and Denmark, have introduced temporary border controls after more than one million migrants entered the European Union last year, mostly via Greece.

The European Commission, struggling to prevent the collapse of the Schengen accord, is expected this month to allow EU member states to retain the emergency border checks, which are due to expire in May, for a while longer.
