Things Work Until They Don’t

One thing is for certain. People today believe anything but reality and that will catch up to them all very soon in a very painful way. Things work until they don’t. Our economy has been rolling along for decades on the stored wealth of previous generations but that is about to run out of steam very soon. When it does it will be a shock to all but a few. You can ignore reality but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

Is the U.S. Government Evil? You Tell Me

This is a government that treats its citizens like faceless statistics and economic units to be bought, sold, bartered, traded, tracked, tortured, and eventually eliminated once they’ve outgrown their usefulness. -- This is a government that treats human beings like lab rats to be caged, branded, experimented upon, and then discarded and left to suffer from the after-effects. -- This is a government that repeatedly lies, cheats, steals, spies, kills, maims, enslaves, breaks the laws, overreaches its authority, and abuses its power at almost every turn. --This is a government that wages wars for profit, jails its own people for profit, and then turns a blind eye and a deaf ear while its henchmen rape and kill and pillage. -- No, this is not a government that can be trusted to do what is right or moral or humane or honorable but instead seems to gravitate towards corruption, malevolence, misconduct, greed, cruelty, brutality and injustice.

Research Shows Google’s Search Manipulations Tried To Rig Election For Hillary

This is not a coincidence, especially when considering Google was the Clinton campaign’s largest corporate contributor. Google employees, including at least six high-ranking executives, donated more than $1.3 million to Clinton’s 2016 campaign. Call it censorship or manipulation, but the truth is…Google attempted to rig the election for Hillary Clinton by manipulating searches and suggestions, and therefore, voters minds.

U.S. Citizens Fund UN Arms Trade Treaty Which Impacts U.S. Gun Ownership

Recently, I received an email from U.S. Senator Rand Paul regarding an issue which may upset, or be near and dear to, the hearts of many Americans; it stated the USA taxpayer is the second largest DIRECT financial funder of the U.N.’s global gun ban! Did you know that? Of course, most people probably don’t, and such information is one of the reasons I’ve been saying for umpteen years, “Get the USA out of the UN; get the UN out of the USA.”

CDC Buried Data Supporting Defensive Use Of Firearms

It matters because first, it removes one more “talking point” used by anti-gunners to defend their intention to remove firearms from every law-abiding gun owner in the country. Second, it confirms that government agencies cannot be trusted without verification. Third, it is one more argument in the arsenal of those promoting private gun ownership to those who haven’t yet made up their minds.

A Furtive Glance At Washington's Ongoing War Preparations Against Russia

While the world's attention is riveted on Syria, the US is significantly boosting its forces in Europe. And these are not just divisions streaming in to take part in some exercises that will leave once those are over. This is a serious buildup to create a potentially offensive posture. The beefing up of the US forces is taking place amid preparations for a Russia-US summit. That’s a rather peculiar background for the event, to put it mildly!

Armenia Heats Up As The Proxy War Continues

Armenia is an important part Russia’s long-term plans. A member of the Eurasian Economic Union Armenia is key to protecting Russia’s southern flank.

So, I was not shocked back in 2016 when the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh was activated by the U.S. after a brief visit by then Secretary of State John Kerry as punishment for Russia’s intervention into Syria.

Nagorno-Karabakh had been peaceful for more than twenty years before Kerry’s visit. And within days, fighting broke out on the Azeri side of the region which lies between the two countries.

So, color me not shocked that as the Neoconservatives take control of the Trump White House that they activate a color revolution in Armenia while simultaneously pushing Russia in Ukraine, Syria, the U.K., the financial markets and seemingly everywhere else at the same time.

Taiwan To Simulate Chinese Invasion In Live-Fire Military Drill Starting Next Week

As concerns about nuclear war with North Korea wane, Taiwan is reminding the world that its own relations with Beijing have been progressively deteriorating; to do that the small island nation will simulate a response to an "invading force", along with using civilian operated drones, in war games next week amid its increasing tensions with China the defense ministry said Tuesday according to Reuters.

While the annual Han Kuang drills, set to begin on April 30 with a computer-aided command post exercise, make no mention of China, only “offensive forces invading Taiwan” and will include a live-fire field training exercise and “enemy elimination on beaches”, it is clear that the "hypothetical" aggressor is China.

UK Sells $445 Million of Arms to Israel, Including Sniper Rifles

Britain has approved the sale of arms to Israel worth $445m since the 2014 Gaza war, including components for drones, combat aircraft and helicopters along with spare parts for sniper rifles, according to figures seen by Middle East Eye.

The government data will raise fresh concerns that British-made weapons are being used by the Israeli military in the Occupied Territories, amid fears that components in sniper rifles used to kill scores of Palestinian civilians in recent weeks could have been made in the UK.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Gee, ya think that was going to happen?!?

Theresa May has the morals of a dead tree-stump; MI5 and MI 6 know precisely that UK's weaponry is being used to assassinate Palestinians; but as long as the money is getting raked in by the UK's military /Industrial Complex, the British government chooses to remain collectively deaf and blind to the carnage these weaons are causing.

Turkey’s Military Offensive in Afrin

In late January, Turkey launched a ground incursion named Operation Olive Branch in the Afrin canton of northern Syria. The offensive is directed against the Kurdish-led Democratic Union Party in Syria (PYD), particularly its armed wing named People’s Protection Units (YPG), which Ankara considers as a terrorist group since 1985 and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions surrounding the city of Afrin. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that the aim of the operation was to give Afrin back to its rightful owners, a statement that has since been used by Kurdish group to claim that he intends to engineer a demographic shift. However, by March, Turkish troops took control of Syria’s Afrin region, deploying “police force” to oversee 115 “strategic forces” and more than 80 villages under its control, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

Where Is the Shame? Why is the World Silent? Acceptance of the West’s War Crimes is the “New Normal”

Will the Russian president and foreign minister continue to speak of “our Western partners” and seek common ground with proven lawless war criminals? What would that common ground be?

How can other governments accept the US, UK, and French governments that intentionally lied about a Russian chemical attack on the Skripals and about a Syrian chemical attack on Douma, risking a third world war, and then themselves attacking Syria on the basis of a transparent lie unsupported by any evidence? How exactly do you conduct diplomatic relations with war criminals?

You don’t. You put them on trial. Why aren’t Trump, May, and Macron on trial?

The reason is that the world has been conditioned, like Pavlov’s dogs, to expect and accept the West’s war crimes as ordinary common features of life. The West’s crimes are protected by precedents established by decades of failing to hold the West accountable. The West has squatters rights in committing unaccountable war crimes.

It is only a matter of time before the US will find itself in a military confrontation with Russia; that is being engineered by those in the US Deep State as I type this.

In Photos: While the world watches Gaza, Israeli forces invade Nabi Saleh

What’s happening now is what is happening every week, sometimes everyday, since nearly nine years”, explains Belal Tamimi, a resident of the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh. “Every Friday, we have this situation, the soldiers try to surround the village, they don’t want anyone to be near the spring area that the settlers occupied nine years ago. Every Friday, the situation is horrible”, says Belal, who has taken the role of documenting the protests and the constant raids by the Israeli army.

Israelis Continue to Open Fire on Gaza Protestors: An Eyewitness Account

According to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), the Palestinian death toll since March 30, 2018 “has risen to 33, including 4 children and 1 photojournalist, and the number of those wounded has risen to 2,436, including 410 children, 66 women, 22 journalists and 9 paramedics.”

There have been no Israeli casualties.

According to PCHR, on Friday, April 20th, Israeli snipers “killed 4 Palestinian civilians, including a child, and wounded 274 others, including 41 children, 6 women and 1 journalist, in addition to hundreds suffering tear gas inhalation, including PCHR’s fieldworkers who were documenting the Israeli forces’ suppression of the entirely peaceful demonstrations near the border fence with Israel, east of the Gaza Strip.”

Israeli government justifies killing child protesters in Gaza: They’re not in school

Mohammed Ayoub was the last to be killed: last Friday at 4:30 PM.

Israeli education minister Naftali Bennett was asked on Sunday if Israel had not gone too far when it killed Ayoub, as Orly Noy reports at +972:

Army Radio morning show host Razi Barkai asked Education Minister Naftali Bennett if “we had gone too far” in killing 15-year-old Mohammed Ayoub during the Gaza return march protests last Friday.

“If he had gone to school like every other kid,” Bennett responded, “there wouldn’t have been a problem.” That is what Israel’s education minister had to say about the murder of a child – killed by a sniper’s bullet – during a protest.

This is now a theme of Israeli propaganda surrounding the killings in Gaza: the children are to blame for not being in school, or not reading books.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In Israel, where genocide against Palestinian children is considered business as usual, there appears to be a real disconnect between what the snipers are doing, and their killing of children with bullets, when all the Palestinian kids have are rocks to throw.

But then, what can one reasonably expect from a viciously apartheid, self-proclaimed theocracy with nuclear weapons?!?

Russia said to warn of ‘catastrophic’ result if Israel hits its S-300s in Syria

Russia may hand over its powerful S-300 missile defense system to Syria in the near future, despite opposition from Israel and other Western powers, the Russian daily Kommersant reported Monday, citing anonymous military sources.

The sources told the newspaper that if Israel tried to destroy the anti-aircraft batteries — as analysts have indicated Israel likely would — it would be “catastrophic for all sides.”

But Russian Foreign Minister later said no decision had yet been made on whether to give the S-300s to Syria, and added that it would not keep such a delivery a secret.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My sense is that Putin will make the decision, and soon, to send the S-300 Defensive Missle System to Syria, and soon; if Israel's government decides to send missiles against it, Russia has told it precisely what will happen.

House Lawmakers Close Pentagon Budget Hearing to the Public

Mattis and Dunford have open hearings at the Armed Services Committees, but will talk over their $686.1 billion request with House appropriators in private.

For the first time in at least eight years, House appropriators will grill the Pentagon’s top civilian and uniformed leader about their budget request behind closed doors, not in an open hearing.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joe Dunford will sit before the defense subcommittee on Wednesday to talk over the military’s $686.1 billion request for 2019. It’s not the largest defense budget ever, but the $80 billion bump over legislated spending caps and the bipartisan budget deal that delivered that figure both represent a massive victory for Pentagon leaders and Congressional defense hawks.

Where those dollars will go, however, will be discussed in a session closed to the public.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Trump’s CIA pick facing brutal confirmation fight

The Senate’s debate over Gina Haspel’s confirmation as CIA director is poised to be a bitter litigation of one of the most controversial episodes in recent U.S. history.

Haspel, the CIA’s deputy director, is indelibly tied to the agency’s use of harsh interrogation techniques after the Sept. 11 attacks. But she is also a 33-year intelligence veteran who is seen even by some critics of President Trump as an experienced and apolitical hand.

Hinting at the challenge ahead, the CIA is engaged in an extraordinarily public campaign to burnish Haspel’s image and correct what it says is a swath of inaccurate reporting about a career intelligence officer who, up until a year ago, was virtually anonymous.

There are few obvious parallels to Haspel’s nomination. Although there have been a handful of CIA nominees with operational experience at the agency before now, many of them had been in the public arena prior to their nomination. Haspel remained undercover until last year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Haspel is the last person in this country who should have been nominated for this position; this signals to me that the acceptance of torture, courtesy of the CIA, will be back as a brutal element of the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America's further wars without end.

Trump Threatens Iran as Deadline to Withdraw From Nuclear Deal Looms: Iran FM: US already violating the nuclear deal

Speaking on Tuesday, President Trump again threatened to withdraw from the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran. Trump previously set an ultimatum of May 12 for withdrawing if the deal isn’t changed substantially. Trump also threatened to make Iran “pay a price like few countries have ever paid.”

The May 12 deadline is when President Trump would have to extend sanctions relief from the deal. Without that, the US would effectively be withdrawing. Iranian officials have made clear if that happens, they’ll resume uranium enrichment they’d stopped under the pact.

The three EU parties to the deal have been trying to come up with a sideline agreement with the US to prevent all this. So far, President Trump appears unwilling to budge. French President Emmanuel Macron appeared to join Trump in opposing the deal’s continuation, backing a joint statement from the two calling the current deal “insane.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The folks at the IAEA, who are inspecting Iran's sites, and tell the world that they are totally in compliance with the deal, are not idiots; they are very bright, accomplished people, and when they tell me that Iran is in compliance, my tendency, as someone who appreciates science, is to believe them.

Unfortunately, however, Israel wants Syria; Iran; and Lebanon regime changed, but ony wants the costs of these military campaigns to be borne in American blood and American money.

And whatever President Trump believes Israeli Prime Minister wants, he will give that to him, delivered on a silver platter if possible, no matter the costs to We the People.

Trump Again Backtracks on Syria Pullout, Vows ‘Strong and Lasting Footprint’

Just a month after another brief public flirtation with the idea of withdrawing from Syria, President Trump once again said he wants US troops out of Syria, promising “big decisions” very soon. His first talk of a pullout was scrapped days later. This time, he backtracked almost instantly.

With French President Emmanuel Macron in tow, Trump told reporters that he and his allies are taking a long-term approach to Syria, and that this would involve leaving “a strong and lasting footprint” within Syria. He said talk of the long-term issues in Syria was “a very big part” of his discussions with Macron.

The idea that Macron is driving Trump’s decision-making was a big issue last week. Macron claimed credit for Trump agreeing to stay in Syria, but quickly reversed course, and insisted the two had always agreed on the issue.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My sense is that the US involvement with Syria is not over by a long shot; and there is a grave concern that the US will wind up making a "military miscalculation", and involving Russia in a shooting war here.

Yemen vows ‘crushing response’ to top Houthi official murder

Yemen’s Defense Ministry has vowed a “crushing response” to the assassination of a senior official from the Houthi Ansarullah movement, saying Saudi Arabia and the US will regret their “criminal adventurism.”

In a statement carried by the official Saba news agency on Monday, the ministry stressed that the Yemeni armed forces reserve the right to deal severe blows to “the aggressors and their evil coalition,” who will not be safe from ballistic missiles.

Saleh al-Samad, the chairman of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, lost his life in Saudi airstrikes that targeted his residence in the Red Sea port city of Hudaydah on Thursday.

The council was formed by the Houthi movement and the General People’s Congress Party to run state affairs in the absence of an effective government in 2016, a year after the Saudi regime and a coalition of its allies began their US-backed war against the country.

United States’ President, Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, narrowly won approval from a Senate panel Monday, paving the way for the CIA director to become America’s top diplomat.

A dramatic last-minute flip by Republican Senator Rand Paul, who for weeks had expressed opposition to Pompeo over his stance on the Iraq war and surveillance issues, gave the spy chief a narrow edge.

That allowed Trump to avoid an embarrassing setback as he sought to replace Rex Tillerson, the secretary of state he fired in March.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pompeo's appointment, with Senate confirmation, guarantees that the wars will continue, unabated, and that the US/Military Industrial complex will get everything it wants, no matter if it actually works, or not, for our military.

Did McCabe issue ‘Stand-Down’ order on FBI Clinton Email Investigation?

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is now facing possible criminal charges for lying under oath about leaks he made to The Wall Street Journal in 2016, in an effort to salvage his reputation and give his account to journalists who were questioning whether he gave a “stand-down” order to FBI agents investigating the Clinton Foundation.

Multiple former FBI officials, along with a Congressional official, say that while there may have been internal squabbling over the FBI’s investigation into the Clinton Foundation at the time, there was allegedly another “stand-down” order by McCabe regarding the opening of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of her private email for official government business.

MERCK ACCUSED OF FRAUD, DECEIT, NEGLIGENCE IN US GARDASIL CASE

Merck’s aggressive agenda to increase HPV vaccine uptake rates, despite causing thousands of severe injuries, is hitting a stumbling block in a court case alleging blatant corruption.

There has been documented evidence that the HPV vaccine has caused more injuries than any other vaccination in history. Despite this evidence however, the HPV vaccination has continued to be hailed a success by the pharmaceutical industry and governments alike.

According to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) VigiAccess database, as of April 09, 2018, a total of 85,329 reports of adverse reactions have been filed regarding the HPV vaccination. These reports include 37,699 reports of nervous system disorders; 2450 cardiac disorders, (including 38 cardiac arrests) 533 reports of Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS); over 3200 reports of seizures or epilepsy, 8453 syncope, and 389 deaths.

UK BANK’S TECH CHAOS BLOCKS CUSTOMERS FROM THEIR FUNDS: DAY 5

As bank IT system revamps go, few have been as disastrous as UK bank TSB’s latest system upgrade, which began on Friday, was supposed to be up and running by Monday morning, but is still down on Tuesday evening. It’s now Day Five of the crisis and an estimated 1.9 million TSB customers still cannot use the bank’s online service. According to customer testimonials featured on The Guardian, some cannot even withdraw cash with their ATM card or their credit cards.

One TSB customer was reportedly given access to another customer’s £35,000 savings account, £11,000 Isa, and a business account when he logged onto his online banking account on Monday night — an allegation the bank denies. “There’s been no data breach whatsoever. I can categorically say that customers’ data is safe,” said the bank’s CEO, Paul Pester. Judging by the tone of some of their tweets and comments, the customers are not wholly convinced.

TOP SECRET: DOD BUILDING $110 MILLION DRONE BASE IN NIGER

If you thought America’s overseas wars had reached their limit - think again.

The United States Department of Defense (DoD) is building a new $110 million drone base in Niger, adding to its existing footprint of more than 800 military bases in more than 70 countries, the Associated Press (AP) reports.

On Monday, the AP detailed in a report that the U.S. Air Force is constructing a base for weaponized drones, the newest front in America’s expanding foreign wars “against the growing extremist threat in Africa’s vast Sahel region.”

LEGAL MEDICAL MARIJUANA PATIENT JAILED 10 DAYS AFTER TESTING POSITIVE FOR THC

A twenty-four-year-old medical marijuana patient in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, spent ten days behind bars after a blood test showed THC in his system despite his legal use of the plant.

CBS Pittsburgh reports that Sampson Bailey was in court on unrelated charges from last year related to credit card fraud when an unnamed judge speculated that he was high and demanded that he take a drug test. Though Bailey denies showing up in court under the influence of cannabis, his test came up positive for THC (even one single use of cannabis stays in the system for at least one to two days, meaning the positive test result did not prove he was actually high in court).

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just how many pharaceutical companies are in this judge's portfolio; obviously, they have a very limited understanding of US law, where one is innocent until proven guilty, but ascribes to the polar opposite, now known as Code Napoleon Law, where one was presumed guilty until proven innocent.

AUSTRALIAN GOV'T SCOOPED UP TONS OF CELL SITE LOCATION DATA TO TRACK CITIZENS' MOVEMENTS

A couple of years after it happened, Australian citizens are finally being (indirectly) informed their government harvested cell site location info to track their daily activities. This isn't the work of an intelligence agency or a secretive law enforcement effort. Instead, it's an (unannounced) partnership between the Australian Bureau of Statistics (which handles the Australian Census) and a cellphone service provider. The provider apparently willingly turned over cell site info without a court demand, government mandate, or consultation with its customers. Asher Wolf has the details at Medium:

The ABS claims population estimates have a “major data gap” and so they’ve been a busy bee figuring out a way to track crowd movement. Their solution? Mobile device user data.

MSM IS FRANTICALLY ATTACKING DISSENTING SYRIA NARRATIVES, AND IT LOOKS REALLY BAD

I write a lot about how, in a political environment that is saturated in disinformation and propaganda, it’s important to ignore people’s words and watch their actions instead to get a clear picture of what’s really happening. You could not ask for a better illustration of this than the recent behavior of the mass media with regard to Syria.

The always excellent Moon of Alabama put out a piece yesterday detailing the immense deluge of attack editorials disguised as information that have been churned out recently about anyone who questions the establishment Syria narrative, including a single day in which no less than seven smear pieces were issued by prominent publications. Seven. In one day.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The following is a very interesting window on which companies own what in terms of presstitute media:

Who Wons CNN/NBC/MSN/FOX: SOME FACTS.

The article goes on to state:

"GENERAL ELECTRIC --(donated 1.1 million to GW Bush for his 2000 election campaign)

Television Holdings:
* NBC: includes 13 stations, 28% of US households.
* NBC Network News: The Today Show, Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Meet the Press, Dateline NBC, NBC News at Sunrise.
* CNBC business television; MSNBC 24-hour cable and Internet news service (co-owned by NBC and Microsoft); Court TV (co-owned with Time Warner), Bravo (50%), A&E (25%), History Channel (25%).
The "MS" in MSNBC
means microsoft
The same Microsoft that donated 2.4 million to get GW bush elected.

Other Holdings:
* GE Consumer Electronics.
* GE Power Systems: produces turbines for nuclear reactors and power plants.
* GE Plastics: produces military hardware and nuclear power equipment.
* GE Transportation Systems: runs diesel and electric trains. "

GE is part and parcel of the Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika's military industrial complex; therefore, any narrative regarding the reality that the US has NOT been invited to get rid of the Western-sponsored, trained, and funded Jihadis, but Russia has, will be squashed like a bug.

GE wants to see more and more wars against Syria, Russia, China, and Iran and whoever is on the Deep State (and Israel's) "To Regime Change" lists, and those lists are massive.

This is ultimately about who controls the oil in the Middle East, and in what monetary denominations that oil will be sold.

GE is right now in a massive management shakeup, due to lousy performance How GE went from American Icon to Astonishing Mess, and are desperate for something - ANYTHING - to get them out of it. Things are so bad, in fact, that it would be ridiculous for them not to want a war, to turn their flagging fortunes around.

But such a war comes at potentially great geopolitical, military, and fiscal risk to the Unhinged, Surveilled, States of America.

A further US military incursion into Syria will, undoubtedly, bring a military reaction from Russia, and this is where things could get...awkward and ugly in a heartbeat.

We are already hearing the Israeli government making noises, threatening Russia not to use its S-300 or S-400 Defensive system against their missile attacks in Syria, and insists that it will continue attacking Syria.

IF Israel attacks again, and is soundly trounced by these Russian defensive systems, you can almost bet Israel will be crying to the US government that they are being "unfairly attacked", and that the US has to back them up, millitarily, in Syria.

I would like to politely suggest to the Trump administration to not do this; our military doesn't have the troop strength, the weaponry, the manufacturing or the money to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia in Syria; and those are just the facts.

Corporations like GE or Microsoft do not care that the costs of such attacks will be primarily borne in blood and money by the US; they only care about their profit margins, and the leadership of both companies have had their consciences collectively surgically removed.

NORTH KOREA’S NUCLEAR TEST SITE HAS COLLAPSED ... AND THAT MAY BE WHY KIM JONG-UN SUSPENDED TESTS

North Korea’s mountain nuclear test site has collapsed, putting China and other nearby nations at unprecedented risk of radioactive exposure, two separate groups of Chinese scientists studying the issue have confirmed.

The collapse after five nuclear blasts may be why North Korean leader Kim Jong-un declared last Friday that he would freeze the hermit state’s nuclear and missile tests and shut down the site, one researcher said.

The last five of Pyongyang’s six nuclear tests have all been carried out under Mount Mantap at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in North Korea’s northwest.

A research team led by Wen Lianxing, a geologist with the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, concluded the collapse occurred following the detonation last autumn of North Korea’s most powerful thermal nuclear warhead in a tunnel about 700 metres (2,296 feet) below the mountain’s peak.

The test turned the mountain into fragile fragments, the researchers found.

Webmaster's Commentary:

However this happened, the timing is fortuitous, regarding potential US/North Korean talks between President Kim Jung Un and President Trump, later this year.

Israel warns of attack if Russia air defences used in Syria

Israel's Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday that his country would attack Russian S-300 air defence systems in Syria if they were used against Israeli targets.

His remarks came a day after the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported that Moscow could soon start to deliver S-300 systems to its ally Damascus, and cited a source as warning of "catastrophic" consequences if they were attacked.

"What's important to us is that the defensive weapons the Russians are giving Syria won't be used against us," Lieberman told the news website Ynet.

"If they're used against us, we'll act against them."

Russia and Syria signed an accord in 2010 for the S-300 system but the missiles have not been delivered because of Israeli pressure, according to Kommersant.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier this month that no decision had yet been taken on the S-300 missiles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: what Israel has just guaranteed is that a Russian self-defense unit, like the S-300, or S-400 will be used to take Israeli missiles down, if they are used against syria

When it comes to Israeli hubris in this instance, payback... will be a bear.

John Whitehead: "Is The US Government Evil?"

You tell me.

This is a government that treats its citizens like faceless statistics and economic units to be bought, sold, bartered, traded, tracked, tortured, and eventually eliminated once they’ve outgrown their usefulness.

This is a government that treats human beings like lab rats to be caged, branded, experimented upon, and then discarded and left to suffer from the after-effects.

This is a government that repeatedly lies, cheats, steals, spies, kills, maims, enslaves, breaks the laws, overreaches its authority, and abuses its power at almost every turn.

This is a government that wages wars for profit, jails its own people for profit, and then turns a blind eye and a deaf ear while its henchmen rape and kill and pillage.

No, this is not a government that can be trusted to do what is right or moral or humane or honorable but instead seems to gravitate towards corruption, malevolence, misconduct, greed, cruelty, brutality and injustice.

A £111 penalty if you refuse a smart meter: British Gas, EDF and First Utility reserve best deals for customers with the digital gadgets

Three of Britain’s biggest power firms are reserving their cheapest deals for customers who agree to have a digital smart meter installed in their home.

It means that loyal British Gas, EDF Energy and First Utility customers who do not want the new technology are being denied savings of up to £111 a year.

Another supplier, E.ON is forcing customers who sign up to its deals to agree to being contacted about smart meters at any time.

Experts say suppliers have started using smart meter-only tariffs as the latest tactic to pressure customers into changing their meters.

An Urban Survival Course with Selco: Your Gear and How to Pack It - Selco

What to Pack for a 5-Day Urban Survival Course

We have just finished our flagship Urban survival course in Croatia.

For 5 days Toby Cowern and I, as instructors, taught students skills and through the different exercises and scenarios, we stress-tested their knowledge and abilities.

For me, the most important thing was to give them a piece of the mindset needed for a real SHTF event and to give them a clear starting point from where they can build more skills, knowledge, and competence.

In some moments it was hard for them, both physically and mentally, but one of the most important points, of course, was to test them in not so perfect conditions.

The whole course cannot be transferred here for reading, but some highlights can be given in a series of articles, reflecting on the most interesting moments of each day. This time, we will start out with the gear necessary for the class.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I consider knowledge like this to be critically important, if the US economy hits a crash moment, or has to deal with a war.

If You Limit ANY Free Speech, This is What You Get

The law originally targetted the KKK. Now it has been used to arrest people protesting against white supremacists.

And that is why free speech is so important.

Plenty of people would love to see new laws to stop white supremacists from exercising their–albeit offensive–free speech.

But as this 1951 law demonstrates, the law as it is intended is not always how it is applied.

Ironically, police routinely wear gas masks and face-covering riot helmets at these kinds of events. Apparently, the law doesn’t apply to them. But that is fitting since most laws don’t apply to the people who enforce them.

Have you ever threatened to shoot someone with a rifle because they had a mask on? Me neither. Police are a different breed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I condemn racism of any stripe; in my world, we are ALL children of God, equally, and hopefully carrying a commitment to our purpose as human beings, which is to make this planet just a bit better, however we can, for the next generations.

That being said, the militarization of our police (sometimes courtesy of Israeli military training)causes them to take the kinds of actions which should be used, allegedly "to protect and serve.", which is their task.

We are very lucky on Oahu to have officers who are, in the main, very decent human beings; but I know that on the mainland, this is not always the case.

Kogan Exposes "Hypocrite" Zuckerberg: "Tens Of Thousands" Of Data Harvesting Apps Out There

Aleksandr Kogan, the computer scientist at the center of the Facebook data harvesting scandal, said Mark Zuckerberg is "totally" a hypocrite in a Monday CNBC interview. Kogan made headlines in March after the New York Times and The Guardian reported that political data firm Cambridge Analytica bought data on as many as 87 million Facebook users - harvested by Kogan's personality app, thisismydigitallife.

The Moldovan-born researcher from Cambridge University says he's being used as a scapegoat, and that there are "tens of thousands" of other apps do the same thing, Kogan said. "It's certain"

"In reality, I think, the truth is we’ve got tens of thousands of over apps that did the same thing, probably on a much bigger scale than me," Kogan told CNBC's Power Lunch. "And they’re all out there and Facebook has no accounting for it."

Might Trump Ask Israel to Fund America’s Invasion-Occupation of Syria?

On 16 April 2018, the internationally respected analyst of Middle-Eastern affairs, Abdel Bari Atwan, headlined about Trump’s increasingly overt plan to break Syria up and to establish permanent U.S. control over the parts it wants, “Attempting the Unachievable”. He stated that

“The coming few months are likely to prove very difficult for the Americans, and very costly, not just in Syria but also in Iraq.”

He closed:

“Who will cover the costs of this American move? There are no prizes for guessing the answer: it has already been spelled out.”

The only country that his article mentioned was Israel:

“It would not be surprising if Israel and the various lobbies that support were behind this American strategic volte-face. For Israel is in a state of panic.”

I do not consider this enormous reversal of Israel — from recipient to donor — to be likely. Far likelier, in my view, is Saudi Arabia, to finance the invasion.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think this analysis is the correct one, with the US tapping Saudi Arabia for the money to continue its invasion/occupation of Syria.

The question is, how long before there is a real, shooting war with Russia over Syria, which Syria invited into this country to get rid of the Western-backed Jihadis there?!?

Because from where I sit, is is a question of when, not if.

Media Support US Violence Against Syria, but Long for More
Atlantic: A Reckoning Will Come in Syria

And by “reckoning,” the Atlantic (4/14/18) appeared to mean “a war with Russia and its allies.”

Corporate media outlets were glad that the US, France and Britain bombed Syria in violation of international law (FAIR.org, 4/18/18), but lamented what they see as a dearth of US violence in the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is never the children of the monied elite presstitutes and warmongers whose kids will get killed, or maimed for life, in such wars; they always want it to be... other people's children, getting killed or maimed for life to preserve the US's economic, and geopolitical hegemony.

Israel wants Syria balkanized and Tehran regime changed; of course, only at the costs of American or Saudi blood and money; and whatever Israel wants, the editors of our non-esteemed manure spreaders, like the Washington Compost, want Israel to have, and want to make sure that the American people swallow such codswallop whole, and unquestioningly.

Americans can no longer tolerate our government doing this, because of the huge costs, geopolitically, and financially of enabling Israel toward its stated end of complete domination of the Middle East, and its oil.

In fact, the following article, states this quite clearly:

As Israel becomes a political liability it is time to challenge its enablers

Democratic National Committee's Lawsuit Against Russians, Wikileaks And Various Trump Associates Full Of Legally Nutty Arguments

This morning I saw a lot of excitement and happiness from folks who greatly dislike President Trump over the fact that the Democratic National Committee had filed a giant lawsuit against Russia, the GRU, Guccifier 2, Wikileaks, Julian Assange, the Trump campaign, Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and a few other names you might recognize if you've followed the whole Trump / Russia soap opera over the past year and a half. My first reaction was that this was unlikely to be the kind of thing we'd cover on Techdirt, because it seemed like a typical political thing. But, then I looked at the actual complaint and it's basically a laundry list of the laws that we regularly talk about (especially about how they're abused in litigation). Seriously, look at the complaint. There's a CFAA claim, an SCA claim, a DMCA claim, a "Trade Secrets Act" claim... and everyone's favorite: a RICO claim.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Any intelligent judge would throw this case right out of court, on a complete lack of merit; but it all depends on which judge actually hears the case, and by whom they were appointed. So the DNC is going to be most likely looking for a sympathetic Clinton or Obama appointment.

But Tom Perez, DNC Chair, please; have you utterly lost your mind?!?

Do you not understand that the optics, and timing, of this case, will make the DNC look absolutely cringe-worthy, clown-like pathetic, come the next mid-terms, and capable of nothing but an extended misery tour, bitching and moaning about the last election?!?

The bottom line here appears to be, "We Didn't Win in the last elections, fair and Square, so we are now going to persecute the guy who DID get chosen by the American people to lead them as their President!!"

You appear to have no message, no forward momentum, and nothing going for you but to attempt to geopolitically crucify President Trump, after the fact of the 2016 elections.

Tom, you had better re-think this, and fast, because you will push thinking Americans away from Democratic candidates for a long time to come, if this is the best you can do here.

And now, we have a lovely bit of fallout from this lawsuit, which is only the beginning of its unintended consequences to the DNC:

Saudi Warplanes Attack Wedding Party in NW Yemen, Killing Dozens

Saudi warplanes carried out an overnight attack against a wedding party in the Yemeni town of Hajjah. Two missiles struck the site, and killed many civilians. Medics initially reported 33 were killed and scores wounded. Other officials put the figure as high as 50 slain.

The civilians were mostly women and children, who were in a tent set up for the wedding party. The bride was also killed in the strike, and the groom was among the wounded. Initial reports called the strike a US-Saudi action, but it was later confirmed to be of Saudi origin.

Saudi coalition spokesman Col. Turki al-Maliki was quoted by CNN as saying that there is an investigation into the attack. They refused to comment further until the investigation has been completed. No other officials offered any indication why the wedding was attacked.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Saudis, guided by their B.O.Y. (AKA, the Butcher of Yemen, Prince Mohammed bin Salman), are magnificently adept at genocide, and slaughter of the innocent in Yemen.

And of course, under our current, and very uniquely American "Dear Leader", with his very own Personality Cult, President Trump, we are aiding and abbetting Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

I don't know about the rest of those who read this blog, but I am sick, tired, and profoundly morally uncomfortable, being a citizen of a country which indulges in war crimes around the world, as we are.

But there are very few more glaring examples of such war crimes, than the US/Saudi genocide of Yemen.

As a Christian Pacifist Activist, I will continue to witness to what is going on here, until my last breath.

Nicaragua riots: US State Department pull embassy staff out of the country amid mass violence

The US State Department also raised the threat level for Nicaragua following the deadly protests, and is urging Americans to reconsider any travel plans to the country. The embassy in Managua will no longer provide services to the public, except for emergencies or by phone.

"Violent crime, such as sexual assault and armed robbery, is common," a notice from State read. "Police presence and emergency response are extremely limited outside of major urban areas."

The student-led protests began last week in response to President Daniel Ortega's plan to reform the country's pension plan, which would have increased employer and employee contributions while reducing benefits.

Mr Ortega announced that he was revoking that plan Sunday, hoping to placate the uproar in the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder when DC will order in their death squads, in order to quell these riots; it would not be the first time the US government has interfered with issues in Nicarauga by adding to the violence.

US, EU States Agree on Conditions to Preserve Iranian Nuclear Deal - Reports

The United States, Germany, France and the United Kingdom have agreed on the conditions under which Washington will remain committed to the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), media reported Tuesday.

Under the new agreements, the European and US sides decided that they needed to threaten Iran with new sanctions because of its missile tests and regional policy, but the JCPOA itself would not be altered, according to the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.

A Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was reached concerning Iran's nuclear program in Lausanne, Switzerland, June 2015.

The media also noted citing diplomatic sources that the negotiations had not finished yet.

Trump has repeatedly criticized the JCPOA – negotiated by the previous US President Barack Obama's administration – as being perhaps the worst deal in US history and threatened to withdraw Washington from the deal if it was not amended

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: the US is attempting to use sanctions against Iran for issues which have absoflippinglutely NOTHING to do with the JCPOA, as a way of getting Iran to back out of the deal entirely, thus making the Iranian government look like "the bad guy" to do so, when it will potentially be US sanctions which have caused this.

The only problem is, this is so brazenly idiotic, that the entire world can see what the US is attempting to do here, and has utterly no respect for these sanctions.

Israel Hints It Can Hit Iran's "Air Force" in Syria if It Retaliates for T-4

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, two Israeli F-15 fighter jets conducted an attack against Syria's T-4 base on April 9. Israeli sources claim the attack was aimed at Iranian fighters in Syria, with Tehran denying the claims of its military presence in the country.

Israeli media released aerial photos of alleged Iranian air bases on Syrian territory early on April 17. Sky News Arabia reports, citing an IDF official, that Israel is determined to strike back if Iran decides to retaliate for its attack on the T-4 air base. Roni Daniel, military editor for Israeli TV station Mako, told Reuters that the exposure of images of the bases is a sign that Israel can conduct a strike on them, if it is forced to do so.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I the Israeli government, I would be far more concerned about potential Russian strikes against their aircraft, in these illegal raids against Syria, rather than what Iran or Syria could do.

Of course, the reason the Israelis are panicing right now, is the oil under Syria's Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, where Israel is already selling the oil contracts there illegally.

The other reason for these raids is, that Israel wants to see Syria balkanized, and Tehran regime-changed, for its, and Western banks' interests, but only at the costs of American blood and American money.

Israel wants to find a way of tricking the US into a wider Middle Eastern war, with it, Saudi Arabia, the US and NATO on one side, and Russia and China on the other. The goal is controlling all the oil in the region, even into Africa, and in what denomination that oil is siold.

I would like to hope President Trump is smart enough to appreciate this little factoid of Israeli foreign policy, but that remains to be seen.

I just get the sense, however, that the US is going to be occupying Syria for a long, long time, and that the war here may be widening, thanks to US and Israeli efforts.

Obama Justice Dept.’s attempts to influence investigations exposed in McCabe probe

Tucked inside the inspector general’s report on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was the story of an August 2016 phone call from a high-ranking Justice Department official who Mr. McCabe thought was trying to shut down the FBI’s investigation into the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was running for president.

The official was “very pissed off” at the FBI, the report says, and demanded to know why the FBI was still pursuing the Clinton Foundation when the Justice Department considered the case dormant.

Former FBI officials said the fact that a call was made is even more stunning than its content.

Although the inspector general’s report did not identify the caller, former FBI and Justice Department officials said it was Matthew Axelrod, who was the principal associate deputy attorney general — the title the IG report did use.

Mr. McCabe thought the call was out of bounds.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That is what America's alleged "justice" department has become; "Just Us!" to preserve the wealth and power of the elites, who, in DC, rarely eat their own.

This was simply another demonstration of the lengths to which they will go, to avoid well-deserved scrutiny of institutions, like the Clinton Foundation.

SENATE PROPOSAL TO CONSTRAIN TRUMP’S WAR MAKING WOULD ACTUALLY EXPAND PERPETUAL WAR

A new authorization for the use of military force proposed by Democratic and Republican senators would further entrench the United States in endless war. It would also streamline the ability of President Donald Trump and future presidents to expand the “war on terrorism” to additional countries and broaden a list of “associated forces” that are “co-belligerents” of al-Qaida, the Taliban, or the Islamic State.

Under the proposed AUMF [PDF], which was drafted to replace the 2001 and 2002 AUMFs still in effect, military force against the Taliban, al-Qaida, ISIS, and “designated associated forces” is renewed.

On January 20, 2022, and every four years after, the president is to submit a report on the “use of military force,” which includes a “proposal to repeal, modify, or leave in place” the current AUMF.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is horrific legislation, and should be voted down; Congress has no right, under the Constitution, to abnegate its sole ability to declare war.

US CENTCOM CHIEF MAKES "SECRET AND UNPRECEDENTED" VISIT TO ISRAEL AS RUSSIA MULLS ARMING SYRIA

Increasingly it appears that the recent US coalition missile strikes on Syria have utterly backfired: instead of weakening Syria or degrading its military capabilities, the attack may have actually served to strengthen Syria's defenses.

Since the massive strike which involved the US, UK, and France launching over 100 cruise missiles, Russia is rumored to be moving forward on delivery of its advanced S-300 missile defense system, which would be a monumental upgrade allowing Syrian defenses to far surpass current capabilities which utilize the Soviet-made S-125 and S-200 air defense systems.

Crucially, S-300s have a range of up to 150-200 kilometers (or 120 miles), bringing Syrian deterrent reach easily to within Lebanese airspace (as Israel has routinely struck targets inside Syria while firing over "neutral" Lebanese airspace in recent years), and could even extend airspace coverage into Israel itself.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel must be made to understand, at a level its top military and civilian leadership comprehends fully, that these attacks against Syria, will simply cause Russia to arm the country to the point where it can fight back against Israel's military aggression, and unless Israel is willing to actually invade Syria (which Russia will block, militarily and diplomatically), it should really back off, and right the hell now.

And either the US Centcom chief Votel can communicate this clearly with the Israeli leadership, or we are looking at World War III, with Russia, Syria, China, and Iran gathering forces on one side, and the US, NATO, Israel, and Saudi Arabia on the other; it is just that simple, folks.

EX-FACEBOOK EXECUTIVE: ‘YOU DON’T REALIZE IT BUT YOU ARE BEING PROGRAMMED’

Several months ago, one of the early pioneers of Facebook and its first President Sean Parker, voiced his regret regarding helping create social media in the form we know it today, saying:

“I don’t know if I really understood the consequences of what I was saying, because of the unintended consequences of a network when it grows to a billion or 2 billion people and it literally changes your relationship with society, with each other,”…

”God only knows what it’s doing to our children’s brains.”

Parker says the social networking site exploits human psychological vulnerabilities through a validation feedback loop that gets people to constantly post to get even more likes and comments.

“It’s exactly the kind of thing that a hacker like myself would come up with, because you’re exploiting a vulnerability in human psychology,” he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More and more, I am finding myself less and less in love with social media, because it takes away time from real work I need to do.

19 OIL TANKERS HELD HOSTAGE OFF YEMENI COAST

The Yemeni Houthis have captured 19 oil tankers and are keeping them from entering the Hodeidah port, according to reports from Saudi media quoting the Kingdom’s ambassador in Yemen.

The ambassador suggested three possible reasons for the detention, including an attempt to extract money from the owners of the vessels, “the continued starvation of the Yemeni people”, and a plan to destroy the tankers, causing major environmental damage to the Red Sea.

However, the only media sources reporting the tanker seizure are Saudi sources and there has been no confirmation from an external source that the Houthis have indeed seized any tankers yet. No details have been disclosed as to the origin of the vessels, either.

Yemen lies along one of the main global oil chokepoints in the Red Sea. Millions of barrels of crude oil pass Yemeni shores from the Suez Canal en route to Europe every day.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to the government of Saudi Arabia, and the B.O.Y. (AKA, the butcher of Yemen, Prince Mohammed bin Salman); the only way to resolve this is with a political solution.

There has been a hubristical arrogance in this military operation in Yemen, aided and abetted by the United States Military, the foundation of which was the belief that you could, through intense genocide, grind the Yemeni people into submission; it has not worked at all.

I would like to politely suggest another way to tackle the problem through diplomacy, if such a thing possibly exists in your country.

You have gassed, starved, and in discriminately slaughtered infants; children; women; and the medically fragile elderly. You have destroyed schools and hospitals with impunity, all to no avail on the ground in Yemen.

Perhaps some other modality might work better now; because all you have accomplished is getting the Houthi rebels so angry at this genocide, that they are willing to do anything...to get the Saudi presence out of their country.

The West is Obsessed with Perverse Types of Punishment

Western culture is clearly obsessed with rules, guilt, submissiveness and punishment.

By now it is clear that the West is the least free society on Earth. In North America and Europe, almost everyone is under constant scrutiny: people are spied on, observed, their personal information is being continually extracted, and the surveillance cameras are used indiscriminately.

Life is synchronized and managed. There are hardly any surprises.

One can sleep with whomever he or she wishes (as long as it is done within the ‘allowed protocol’). Homosexuality and bisexuality are allowed. But that is about all; that is how far ‘freedom’ usually stretches.

Rebellion is not only discouraged, it is fought against, brutally. For the tiniest misdemeanors or errors, people end up behind bars. As a result, the U.S. has more prisoners per capita than any other country on Earth, except the Seychelles.

OFFICER ACCUSED OF RUNNING CHILD ‘FIGHT CLUB’ BREAKS 14YO BOY’S NOSE WITH HIS FIST ON VIDEO

Broward County, FL — Law enforcement in Broward County cannot seem to keep themselves out of the news lately, and as the incident below illustrates—it’s for all the wrong reasons. Prosecutors have just ruled that an officer who slugged a skinny 14-year-old child in the face so hard that it broke his nose—in two places—was justified.

Instead of being held accountable for quite literally smashing in the face of 14-year-old Andrew Ostrovsky, former lockup officer Darell Bryant was allowed to quietly resign and keep his pension.

In a “close-out” memo signed earlier this month, prosecutor Christopher Killoran with the Broward State Attorney’s Office said that Bryant “was justified in his use of force and his actions that day,” according to the Miami Herald.

Total Control: New Measures Toward Global Totalitarianism

For those who have read “1984” by George Orwell, it is almost prophetic in its depth and accuracy. The reason that the warning has not been heeded is that change takes place with glacial slowness. Sometimes the changes take so long they dull the senses and we become inured to “more bad news,” or we just discount it continually. No matter what our reaction, the march toward global totalitarianism proceeds, with or without our consent or even our attention.

SAUDI ARABIA PAYS $40M TO THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

The Saudi Development Fund has paid $40m to the Palestinian Authority (PA) ministry of finance in support of the PA budget, the Saudi newspaper Okaz reported yesterday.

The permanent Saudi representative at the Arab League said that this payment covered the dues of the Kingdom reserved for February and March 2018 – $20m for each month.

Saudi Arabia pays $20m monthly to the PA budget.

The Kingdom’s representative to the Arab League reiterated that his country would continuously support the Palestinian cause on a political, economic and humanitarian basis.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Foreign Policies of Saudi Arabia appear to be schizophrenic in the extreme; on the one hand, they are propping up the PA, and on the other, they are creating a genocide in Yemen, in a situation where most experts I read indicate that the only solution in Yemen has to be a political reconciliation.

THE FBI'S WAR ON ENCRYPTION IS PERSONAL, ACCORDING TO COMEY'S NEW BOOK

Part of the move to device encryption was due to pressure from legislators that phone companies "do more" to protect customers whose devices had been stolen. And some of it was probably backlash to the flow of Snowden leaks, showing the government had assembled a massive surveillance apparatus following the 9/11 attacks, turning tech companies into unwitting accomplices of the surveillance state.

As Comey sees it, the tech sector fails to comprehend the consequences of encrypted communications and devices because it only deals with the positive side of human connections.

The leaders of tech companies don't see the darkness the FBI sees. Our days are dominated by the hunt for people planning terrorist attacks, hurting children, and engaging in organized crime. We see humankind at its most depraved, day in and day out…

Webmaster's Commentary:

As Mike proved with his NSA challenge, and he would characterize himself only as "a modestly decent programmer", encryption which is pretty darn near unbreakable can be created.

Our "alphabet soup" agencies will never be able to hack through it all.

But there should be a damned good reason for ANY Federal agency to want to see what is on someone's phone, coupled with a specific warrant.

Apparently, Comey is blissfully unfamiliar with the 4th Amendement to the Constitution of the United States, which used to, allegedly, guarantee law-abiding Americans freedom from unreasonable search and seizure of their properties.

Apparently, Comey has, all by himself, reverted to Code Napoleon Law, in which every suspect was considered guilty until proven innocent; and just in case he has forgotten this (or never really wanted to understand it), this is not at all the way the US Constitution and Bill of Rights work, at all!!

What Is It Really Like To Work In An Amazon Warehouse? We Spoke To The Man Who Went Undercover To Find Out

“It felt like what I imagine the atmosphere at a prison would feel like”, he says. “Every time you went to the toilet, every time you finished a shift, every time you went on your break, you had to pass out through giant airport-style security scanners, [and] queue for those. You know, remove your belt, remove your watch and everything in your pockets.”

“You carried around with you this hand-held electronic device which would monitor whereabouts you were in the warehouse. It was also a countdown timer, so as soon as you collected your item, because you spend most of your day scanning items and putting them in baskets, as soon as you scan an item the timer would flip and it would be counting down”, he explains. According to James, employees had to follow this timer all day. It’s the sort of gamification that Amazon would never want to see streamed on Twitch.

US STRUGGLING TO HANDLE EXCESS PLUTONIUM

The United States is struggling to handle the excessive amounts of plutonium generated at the cores of its many retired nuclear reactors, according to a new report, raising fears that it might end up in the wrong hands.

Today, there are some 54 metric tons of surplus plutonium stored in nuclear facilities the US Department of Energy operates around the country, according to Reuters.

In Pantex, a plant located near Amarillo, Texas, the surplus plutonium has long exceeded the 20,000 cores, also known as “pits,” that regulations allow such facilities to store in their temporary storage facility.

That means a mishap in the process, which is mostly done manually by contract workers, can trigger massive nuclear explosions.

While in the past the US simply used the leftover plutonium to produce more nuclear munitions, it is now obliged under a 2010 treaty with Russia to keep its arsenal under 1,550 warheads.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem of what to do with nuclear waste is one requiring the highest level of attention by a Federal government which constantly exhibits all the classic symptoms of ADHD.

Unfortunately, it will probably take it a catastrophe of horrific proportions, before this issue is intelligently addressed, and dealt with.

CITING FEC'S REFUSAL TO ACT, CREW FILES SUIT AGAINST PAUL RYAN-ALIGNED DARK MONEY GROUP

After nearly six years of stalling by the federal authority that oversees elections, a government ethics watchdog has filed a "historic" lawsuit against a right-wing nonprofit aligned with House Speaker Paul Ryan, alleging that the group has violated campaign finance laws and should be required to register as a political committee, which would mean disclosing its deep-pocketed donors.

"We're committed to open and transparent elections where everyone is following the rules."

With support (pdf) from Ellen L. Weintraub, the sole Democrat on the Federal Election Commission (FEC)—which has neglected to act on a formal complaint filed in 2012—Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW) on Monday sued the American Action Network (AAN) to challenge the group's nonprofit status.

Washington Using Currency War To Destabilize Iran

The neoconservative hawks around the US President, notably new National Security head John Bolton and designated Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, are on record that Iran is in Washington’s sights for regime change or at a minimum, economic sanctions and chaos. The rhetoric is not empty. The ground is being laid by US threats to not renew the Iran nuclear agreement in May, a move opposed by the other signatories and a move that would plunge Iran into a deep economic crisis at a time it can ill afford.
The orchestration of the US-led bombing of Syria, regardless of what targets were or were not hit, now sets the propaganda stage for a dramatic escalation of new sanctions against Iran, and for a major destabilization, something not possible in 2009.

What is taking shape now from the side of Washington is preparation to unleash a new wave of economic and financial sanctions on Iran, regardless.

Voter Distrust Of Political News Is At An All-Time High With Good Reason

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey has found that 54% of likely United States voters now say they do not trust the political news they are getting. That’s up from last June’s previous high of 46%. This all comes on the heels of ex-MSNBC pundit exposing the network’s clear “pro-establishment bias.”

Time to Repeal the 2nd Amendment & Ban Guns, How is That Working For You?

The total economic impact of the firearms and ammunition industry in the United States increased from $19.1 billion in 2008 to $51.4 billion in 2017. A 169 percent increase, while the total number of full-time equivalent jobs rose from approximately 166,000 to almost 310,000, an 87 percent increase in that period, according to a recent report released by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the industry’s trade association. There has been no better gun salesman than President Obama and his minions in the history of this country, and it occurred in an otherwise downward economy!

The Truth About The "Multicultural" Invasion Of Sweden

Immigration is an issue that causes tempers to flare. Many Americans want our borders to be firmly closed to outsiders, especially if those outsiders are brown. Having lived in and been welcome in another country, and having brought my children to the United States, obviously, I’m pro-immigration.

But only to a point.

Europe has opened their doors generously but now, they are filled with areas of high risk and looming flashpoints. Let’s take a look at what has happened in Sweden, where unchecked immigration has created a public safety crisis.

The crime in Malmo and Stockholm has skyrocketed. You can read about it in these articles:

Violent crime in Sweden is soaring

Hand grenades and violence rattle Sweden’s middle class

Violence against women has also increased dramatically.

According to the Swedish Crime Survey, compared to 2015, attempted rape against girls 15 – 17 was up 46 percent in 2016.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With many so-called"sanctuary cities" in the US, we have seen a huge uptick in crime as well, although the alleged news media in this country doesn't want to admit it.

Saudi Arabia’s Human Rights Record, Raises Number of Beheadings by 70%, Lack of Basic Freedoms for Women and Girls

n its latest report published Saturday, the European-Saudi Organization for Human Rights (ESOHR) said executions by the Saudi government in the first quarter of 2018 increased by 72 percent.

The report also showed that a number of foreign nationals also face capital punishment in Saudi Arabia.

ESOHR released its report amid widespread criticism of Saudi Arabia over its terrible human rights record, including the censorship of free speech, indiscriminate incarceration of citizens with no due process, and lack of basic freedoms for women and girls.

The Saudi government refrains from providing any official statistics for people on death row but the organization confirmed that 42 people are expected to be imminently executed, including 8 individuals who were minors at the time of the offense.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the B.O.Y. (the Butcher of Yemen, AKA Prince Bin Salman), and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, are two of President Trump's BFFs in the region, I am not looking for any kind of a peaceful resolution to the region's issues anytime soon.

I would travel to Tehran (if I could), because I understand that, as a member of a protected minority religion, as a Christian, I could worship at a Christian church, just as Jewish people can worship in their Synagogues, or Bahais in their shrines, without fear of prosecution.

Unfortunately, the practice of any religion which is not Wahabbi Islam, is a punishable offence in Saudi Arabia, and is sometimes punished severely.

Welcome to Agadez, America’s Latest Front in the War on Terror

Say hello to Agadez:

Agadez is 4,000 miles from Aghanistan, where the Global War on Terrorism began. It’s 2,500 miles from Iraq, our next destination in the war. It’s 2,000 miles from Syria and 1,500 miles from Benghazi. This is where we’re building a $110 million drone base that will host nearly a thousand American troops, double the number of a few years ago. Here is Eric Schmitt:

Taken together, these parallel missions reflect a largely undeclared American military buildup outside the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, often with murky authorities and little public attention, unfolding in remote places like Yemen, Somalia and, increasingly, West Africa.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Major General Hicks, I truly believe that I have a method of completely eliminating any terror threats to Americans in any part of the world; we need, please, to stop mucking about in other people's countries to expropriate resources to which the US government has absolutely zero moral right, or, at least, compensate the people of those countries whose resources we are expropriating.

It's just that simple; and you are welcome!! :-)

Afghanistan: 63 dead in attacks on voter registration centres

Bombings at voter registration centres in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and in Baghlan province have killed at least 63 people and wounded more than a hundred others, health officials said.

At least 57 people were killed in Kabul when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the doorway of an ID distribution centre in the city on Sunday, officials said.

Six more people were killed later in the day in Baghlan's Pul-e-Khumri city, when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb near another voting centre. All six were from the same family.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group said it carried out the Kabul attack, but no group has claimed responsibility for the Baghlan blast yet.

The Kabul bombing occured in the Dasht-e-Barchi area, where many of the country's Shia Hazara minority reside.

Among the victims were many women and children, witnesses said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We have been at war for nearly 17 years in Afghanistan, with no discernible end in sight.

What the US government and NATO should be doing, and right the hell now, is to remove all troops as safely as is quickly reasonable, and negotiate with whatever government is left standing in Kabul for the pipeline and opium control rights.

Of course, THAT... would be logical.

As Korea Talks Progress, Mainstream Media Try to Derail : PeaceMedia starts interviewing random Koreans seeking peace skeptics

Months of diplomatic progress with North Korea has really picked up pace in recent weeks. An historic moment is set for this Friday, when South Korea’s President Moon has a summit with Kim Jong-un. Ending the Korean War, 68 years after it started, is under serious consideration.

And that’s just the start of the reasons for optimism. A hotline between North and South Korea opened last Friday. The US is considering opening an embassy in Pyongyang. President Trump will also be having his own summit with Kim in late May or early June.

North Korea has made numerous significant concessions. They’ve halted missile and nuclear testing and are in the process of closing their nuclear testing site. Most significantly, they are open to a deal to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula without demanding 30,000 US troops withdraw from South Korea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Fingers crossed on this one; I am hoping (and praying) that Trump and South Korea's leadership are reading the signs from Pyongyang correctly.

Twitter Blocks Girl with Down Syndrome for Posting ‘Pro-Life Pictures’

Charlotte “Charlie” Fien, a British pro-life activist with Down syndrome, was reportedly blocked by Twitter for 24 hours this week after posting pro-life materials.

The 22-year-old English girl with just under 2,000 followers was up in arms over Twitter’s heavy-handed move, especially since the social media giant routinely allows pro-abortion users to post anything they want without censorship.

“Funny how Twitter allows willy pics and boobs,” she cracked. “Funny how Twitter allows paedophiles and other scum. Funny how Twitter doesn’t like my Pro Life pics and blocks them.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The treatments for Downs Syndrome have grown incredibly, and this young woman, and her very loving, suppportive family, is living proof of that.

This is a genetic abnormality, and in the 21st century, people should be testing their DNA to insure against that, when they are ready to be parents.
And if it is an issue for a couple, they should think about adoption, which I believe is a very beautiful thing to do.

But for Twitter to block her pro-life images; PLEASE, this is very tacky.

I personally feel that I need to track down this gal, and offer support.

And just in case I haven't made my feelings clear, on this blog, I am very much pro-life, but understand, as a compassionate woman, that not all pregnancies can come to term, and it is a tragedy when that cannot happen.

It happened to two family members very close to us, so I do understand why and how this termination of a pregnancy sometimes just has to be done; I just hate seeing it done as a retroactive birth control measure.

LAWMAKERS ASK FBI WHY IT ISN'T GETTING BUSY CRACKING ITS STOCKPILE OF SEIZED SMARTPHONES

Ever since the FBI began its "going dark" crusade, crucial questions have gone unanswered. Considering the budget and technical expertise the FBI has access to, why was it so necessary to get Apple to crack an iPhone's encryption for the Bureau? Turns out it wasn't. The FBI did have a solution, but the head of the division charged with cracking open the San Bernardino shooter's phone didn't want a technical solution. He wanted a courtroom solution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The FBI is just as critically fractionalized as is the rest of this government, and is collectively impotent to resolve this issue intelligently.

APPLE SUED AN INDEPENDENT NORWEGIAN REPAIR SHOP IN BID TO MONOPOLIZE REPAIR -- AND LOST

Apple's efforts in particular to monopolize repair run deep. The company has worked alongside the Department of Homeland Security and ICE to seize counterfeit parts in the United States and raid shops of independent iPhone repair professionals. FOIA efforts to obtain details on just how deeply rooted Apple is in ICE's "Operation Chain Reaction" have been rejected. The efforts to "combat counterfeit goods" often obscures what this is really about for Apple: protecting a lucrative repair monopoly and thwarting anybody that might dare repair Apple devices for less money.

And Apple's efforts on this front are a decidedly global affair. More recently, Apple has been harassing an independent repair shop owner in Norway named Henrik Huseby. After Norway customs officials seized a shipment of 63 iPhone 6 and 6S replacement screens on their way to Huseby's repair shop, Apple threatened to sue the store owner unless they agreed to stop using aftermarket screens and pay a hefty settlement:

CONNECTING THE DOTS OF BIG DATA, SOARING CORPORATE PROFITS, AND TRADE WARS

Here's how I'm connecting the dots of data collection/data mining and the new model for maximizing profitability: the entire model of "capitalism" (maximizing return on capital and labor) has shifted from getting rich making stuff/providing services to distributing/marketing goods and services in a cartel structure.

In this economy, the essential role is played by big data/data mining. Wal-Mart, Amazon, Facebook, Google et al have no interest in where the goods and services are made/generated; the big profits are in the distribution/marketing (i.e. exploiting large data sets) and gathering and selling these large data sets.

Let's stipulate that those corporations whose entire value proposition is manufacturing expertise will continue to extract profits from manufacturing. But this doesn't mean that this manufacturing remains exclusively in the domestic economy, or that Big Data isn't increasingly a core value-generator for manufacturers.

UNIT 731: HOW LEADERS OF JAPAN’S WWII GERM WARFARE UNIT ENDED UP WORKING FOR THE US

Unit 731, the notorious germ warfare unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that conducted horrific lethal experiments on Chinese civilians and Allied prisoners of war before and during World War II, is back in the news again after the Japanese government released the names of more than 3,000 of its former members. The unit is little known in either Japan or the United States; what’s even less known is that rather than punish its members, US authorities during the postwar occupation of Japan paid them millions of dollars to share knowledge gained from, among other crimes, dissecting live POWs and killing hundreds of thousands of Chinese civilians by aerial spraying of bubonic plague and other deadly diseases.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is an ugly reality that the American Deep State frequently does not punish horrific war criminals, but co-opts them for scientific gain, as happened here.

THE BBC FINALLY ADMITS THAT MI5 SECRETLY VETTED ITS EMPLOYEES, AN OPEN SECRET FOR GENERATIONS

My wife -- whose father is a TV director who'd worked for the BBC -- learned as a little girl that the British spy agency MI5 secretly vetted people who applied for work at the BBC and denoted possible subversives by putting a doodle of a Christmas tree on their personnel files; people who were thus blacklisted were discriminated against within the Beeb.

This practice -- which continued into the 1990s -- has been an open secret for generations, but the BBC has always officially denied it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I find myself completely unastonished at this revelation; the Brits have their own "flavor" of the Deep State, which upholds narrative to further its agenda, no matter how horrific that agenda may be for its people... like the participation in the Iraq war, a cause championed by Phoney Tony Blair.

CITIZEN SCIENTIST WHO HELPED EXPOSE FLINT WATER CRISIS HONORED WITH GOLDMAN PRIZE

A stay-at-home mother of four and trained medical assistant who led the effort to expose the water crisis in Flint, Michigan has recieved a prestigious award that honors grassroots environmental activists from across the globe.

LeeAnne Walters is the North American recipient of this year's Goldman Environmental Prize, which is awarded to one activist from each of the world's six inhabited continents.

After Walters's eyelashes started falling out, her twin toddlers broke out in a rash, and her teenage son started experiencing vision and kidney problems in 2014, she filed a formal complaint. Months later, in February 2015, local officials tested lead levels in her water—which, they determined, were dangerously high.

US-BACKED COALITION BOMBS WEDDING PARTY IN YEMEN, KILLING DOZENS

Weeks after President Donald Trump thanked Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince for his country’s use of U.S. military power, the U.S.-backed coalition bombed a wedding party in Yemen, killing at least 20 civilians including the bride. The number of casualties is expected to rise.

On social media, journalist Glenn Greenwald reminded readers of the U.S. connection to Saudi Arabia’s assault on the impoverished country, which has led to what the U.N. has called “the worst man-made humanitarian crisis of our time”—and which would not be possible without U.S. support.

In Yemen today, the Saudis bombed a wedding, killing at least 20 people, including the bride. They killed "mostly women and children." The US & UK - who some believe do humanitarian interventions - both play vital roles in the Saudi destruction of Yemen https://t.co/496jXAigq7

— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) April 23, 2018

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government is brilliant at targeted genocide; this... is precisely what is happening here in Yemen.

Doesnt' it make you absolutely proud to be a citizen of a country with such an incredible kill rate against innocents?!?

And of course, absoflippinglutely ZERO coverage of this by the the corporate Presstitutes or Whoresponents.

VIDEO: CLINTON LAUDS EFFORTS TO CENSOR ALTERNATIVE MEDIA

Hillary Clinton continues to blame everything and everyone apart from herself for not being elected President. In a speech this past weekend, Hillary complained that the “weaponization of false information” by the alternative media cost her the election, and lauded efforts to crackdown on the spread of what she called “outright lies against our democracy.”

“For anyone who thinks that our country isn’t vulnerable to propaganda or attempts to suppress free expression, you only have to look at the 2016 election, which was a case study in the weaponization of false information and outright lies against our democracy,” Hillary told an audience at the PEN World Voices Festival in New York City.

String Theories: Tucker Carlson And The Unspeakable

But Tucker Carlson gets ghosted after a week pounding holes in the Syria story and there’s ... nothing. Nada. Zip.

I mean….that’s weird, right?

The only pundit on television who is not lock-step with the “Assad did it and we need to invade, STAT!” and even invited the Permanent Establishment’s least favorite journalist, Glenn Greenwald, on air to discuss why the media was hell-bent for war — was taken off-air in the middle of the week.

And it's never mentioned.

If you’ve got a few minutes, head over to alleged media watchdog/gossip sites — left or right, it doesn't matter — Media Matters, Breitbart, the ironically named Reliable Sources, Red State, Huffington Post, Variety and Hollywood Reporter. Any mention of Tucker Carlson’s sudden disappearance is conspicuous by its absence.

EU DEBT BOMBSHELL: Merkel tells German savers 'you're LIABLE' if Eurozone fails

CHANCELLOR Angela Merkel has sounded a chilling warning to German savers by telling them they will end up footing the bill if the Eurozone fails.

Mrs Merkel, who has abandoned her opposition to a common European deposit insurance aimed at offering protection across the bloc, told reporters at a press conference in Berlin that her countrymen will be liable in the event of it hitting the rocks.

Speaking alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, she said: "We are also ready to create a joint deposit insurance system in perhaps not the immediate, but more distant future.

“We do want liability and risks to be kept together.”

The CIA and the Drug Trade (Eyeopener Preview)

During the 18th century, the British monopolized the opium trade in India and shipped thousands of chests of opium per year to China as a way of financing their huge trade deficit with that nation. When the Chinese cracked down on opium trafficking in the mid-19th century, the British fought two wars to ensure their Chinese opium market.

By the 1830s, American traders were already getting in on the act, with Samuel Russell’s “Russell & Company” becoming the largest American trading house in China. Russell’s cousin, William Huntington Russell, founded Skull & Bones, a secret society at Yale that has formed the core of the American intelligence establishment, a set of documentable facts that the establishment media seems eager to avoid.

School Resource Officer Stops School Shooting In Ocala, Florida On Friday, No Media Praise

An armed School Resource Officer arrived to the scene of a shooting and had placed the suspect into custody, ending what could have been a longer assault on students and teachers. The media took note of this thwarted school shooting but unless there’s a lot of death and destruction, they’re rather mute. This type of outcome doesn’t feed ratings, and is why they are overlooked. If the US population actually saw these events like they do the tragic ones, I am certain that we would have a lot more people fighting for the idea of armed personnel inside of schools.

A Looming Implication of Face Recognition: Private Photo Blacklists

Finally, let me note the very long history of private companies and government agencies working together to create databases and watch lists about people in the United States. During the labor, civil rights, antiwar, and other social justice movements of the 20th century, there were a number of private databases created by shady collections of right-wing vigilantes and super-patriots who took it upon themselves to compile dossiers on progressive activists. These private databases, such as the San Diego Research Library and the Western Goals Foundation, were often shared with police and government agencies and thus took on quasi-official roles in the efforts of police “intelligence” arms to combat those progressive movements, while remaining outside the normal checks and balances of government.
