Deposed Catalan President Puigdemont allegedly flees to Belgium

Spain’s Attorney General Jose Manuel Maza has told local media that Madrid plans to file charges against deposed Catalan President Carles Puigdemont and his deputies, in the aftermath of declaring Catalonia a sovereign republic. Many openly suspect that the deposed Catalan leadership will be charged with “rebellion”, which in Spain can carry a 30 year prison sentence. Additionally, it is thought that the Catalan leaders will also be charged with sedition and embezzlement by Madrid. Spanish media have also reported that Puigdemont has fled to Brussels in order to avoid prosecution. The Belgian Migration Minister Theo Francken had previously stated that it was “not unrealistic” that Puigdemont could receive asylum in Belgium, a country which itself is in danger of splitting between Flemish and French speaking Walloon regions.

Talks on breakaway Transnistria may restart in November

Participants in negotiations on a settlement of the conflict surrounding Moldova’s breakaway republic of Transnistria expect to restart meetings in the 5+2 format in November, says the press service of the Moldovan government after consultations of Prime Minister Pavel Filip with 5+2 representatives... tensions between Chisinau and Tiraspol are escalating. In this situation, Moscow has urged a new session in the 5+2 format as soon as possible. Tiraspol voiced an active support, and Chisinau also agreed, but the European security agency said the sides in the conflict must reach preliminary agreements on some thorny issues before such a meeting. The Transnistrian conflict erupted in March 1992 when initial clashes occurred between Moldovan police and Transnistrian militia near the city of Dubossary, followed by an outbreak of armed hostilities.

Europe Will Reap What Spain Has Sown

The Spanish government decided to reach back into its history and borrow from the playbook of longtime Spanish fascist dictator Francisco Franco in dealing with Catalonia’s decision to declare independence from the Spanish Kingdom as the Republic of Catalonia. The Catalan government’s decision to declare independence followed an October 1 referendum in the region that resulted in a “yes” for independence.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, whose Popular Party is a direct political descendant of Franco’s fascist Falangist Party, wasted no time in invoking, for the first time, Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, which allows the Spanish Kingdom to impose direct rule on regions not adhering to the whiplashing from Madrid. Catalonia is the first, but possible not the last victim, of Spain’s neo-fascism on display for the entire world.

A Red Scare in the Gray Zone

The United States isn’t alone in fielding a large contingent of special operations forces. The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency estimates that Russia’s Spetsnaz (“special purpose”) troops number around 30,000, a sizeable force, although less than half the size of America’s contingent of commandos. Russia, SOCOM’s Thomas told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee earlier this year, is “particularly adept at leveraging unconventional approaches to advancing their interests and it is clear they are pursuing a wide range of audacious approaches to competition – SOF [special operations forces] often present a very natural unconventional response.”

REVEALED: Shock strategy Brussels will use to LURE member-states into EU army

A GERMAN MEP has outlined how the EU will push through its plans to build its own army - by encouraging member states to "save money" by handing over control of military affairs.

The European Union will persuade other member-states to join Jean-Claude Juncker's plan for a bloc-wide army by grounding it in "economic efficiency".

Jo Leinen, a German MEP, dropped the shock revelation yesterday, claiming the policy of national armies "cannot continue" for much longer.

It comes as Donald Tusk, the European Council President, plans to set up an EU army by the end of the year to fight back against “destabilisation around Europe”.

Jo Leinen calls for more efficiency of Brussels' spending

Webmaster's Commentary:

Could someone please explain to me how these members of the EU are defining "destabilization around Europe"?!?

Because to the intelligent, casual observer, Europe is suffering the self-inflicted wound of allowing unchecked immigration to flood European countries to the point where social services cannot cope.

These immigrants do not want to assimilate; they want to take the traditions of their own failed coutries, like sharia law, and impose them on Europe.

They have no job skills, and when they learn those skills, are given preferential job-seeking status above that granted to native born Europeans.

Rape, and genital mutilation, are common forms of treatment of women among these immigrants.

So I am at least more than a little perplexed as to precisely how the establishment of a European army is in any way, going to fix this, except, perhaps, for pressing these immigrants into such a military, so that Europe can conquer their countries of origin militarily, and then, economically.

Look at the countries mentioned in this article: Mali, Central African Republic, and Somalia, all just chock full of natural resources European companies would love to exploit, and over which citizens of these countries have the bad taste to be living; how economically rude!!

Madrid imposes direct rule on Catalonia just 40 minutes after the region FINALLY declared independence as Spanish Prime Minister calls for 'calm' amid fears of violence on streets

The Catalan Parliament has voted to declare independence from Spain, prompting the national government to impose direct rule on the region just 40 minutes later.

But before the vote, opposition parties stormed out of parliament in protest - with pro-independence MPs draping their empty seats with Catalan flags.

In response, the Spanish government in Madrid has invoked article 155 of the country's constitution, dismantling Catalonia's autonomy.

Spain's prosecution office said the country's top prosecutor will seek rebellion charges for those responsible for the vote. That means President Carles Puigdemont and others could face up to 25 years in prison.

Spain to Take 'Nuclear Option' on Catalonia

The constitutional crisis in Spain and Catalonia is escalating. In response to Catalonia's recent independence vote, Spain's prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, has announced he will strip Catalonia's autonomy and remove its leader. This so-called nuclear option is based on article 155 of Spain's constitution, which allows the parliament to take extraordinary measures to restore order in the country. The move still needs to be ratified by the Spanish parliament, but on Saturday, Rajoy said it's his only option.

Catalonia’s Pro-Independence Alliance Vows to Challenge Madrid’s ‘Dictatorship’

On Thursday, Catalan political parties are planning to hold a plenary session in the regional parliament to discuss a response to Madrid’s threats to invoke Article 155 of Spain’s 1978 Constitution, which would impose central government control on Catalonia, RT reported. The debate of the Catalan political elite, initiated by the Candidatura de Unidad Popular (CPU) and Junts pel Sí (JxSi) parties, will take place a day before the Spanish Senate is expected to pass Article 155, which will remove Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont from office and suspend the powers of the regional institutions. Speaking out Monday against plans to impose the central government’s rule on Catalonia, Lluis Corominas, president of JxSi, has accused Spain of “acting like a dictatorship.” To keep Catalonia's independence dreams alive, Corominas said a potential legal appeal against Article 155 would be discussed during the Catalonia’s parliament plenary session Thursday.

IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND THE NEXT 10 YEARS, STUDY SPAIN

I believe what’s currently happening in Spain represents a crucial microcosm for what we’ll see sweep across the entire planet over the next ten years. Some of you will want to have a discussion about who’s right and who’s wrong in this particular affair, but that’s besides the point. It doesn’t matter which side you favor, what matters is that Madrid/Catalonia is an example of the forces of centralization duking it out with forces of decentralization.

Serbian defense chief blasts US ‘ultimatum’ to choose between Russia or West

Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin has lambasted ‘hostile’ remarks by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Hoyt Brian Yee who said that Belgrade will have to make a choice between Russia and the West. "Undoubtedly, this is the heaviest public and very undiplomatic pressure on our country and goes against our right to make our own decisions," the minister said in a statement circulated by the TANJUG news agency. "This is not a statement made by a friend or a person respecting Serbia, respecting our right to decide independently. Serbia makes its decisions on its own, without paying attention to the importance of those who believe that they can decide for us." Hoyt Brian Yee, US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, said speaking at the 17th Serbian Economic Summit on Monday that Serbia would have to choose between Russia and the West rather than sit on the fence, if it wants to join the EU.

Babiš led his new party ANO – “ano” is Czech for “yes” – to a resounding poll victory, winning almost 30% of the vote.

The election ended a quarter of a century of political dominance by the traditional parties of the Czech mainstream, with the Social and Christian Democrats scoring just 7% and 6% respectively.

CATALAN SEPARATISTS PLAN HUMAN SHIELD, "CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE" TO BLOCK SPANISH TAKEOVER

If Spain hoped that Catalonia would willingly and cheerfully hand over control over the separatist region to Madrid after Rajoy announced on Saturday that the Spanish government will fire Catalan leaders and force new elections in 6 months, he may be disappointed. According to Bloomberg, Catalan separatists are "mobilizing a human shield" to block efforts by Spanish authorities to take control of the breakaway region as both sides prepare to escalate the political conflict beyond what may soon be a point of no return.

The dramatic Catalan action is in response to Rajoy's shocing announcement on Saturday, when he disclosed plans to clear out the entire separatist administration in Barcelona and take control of key institutions including public media and the regional police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra. Spain’s chief prosecutor said that if Puigdemont declares independence he would face as much as 30 years in jail and signaled that he could be arrested immediately.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This could get very nasty very quickly.

Spanish Prime Minister Rajoy has proven himself to be no friend of peaceful, quiet, and forthright negotiations with the Catalonians, and will introduce as much brute force in this process as he thinks he can get away with, in order to coerce Catalonian leadership away from their declared independence.

But I would like to politely suggest to his advisors in the Spanish government, that it should be prepared for this brutality against the Catalonian people to be seen around the world, 24/7, and the optics of such tactics are going to reek to high heaven, particularly when the first fatality happens, and I am almost willing to bet you that there will be fatalities, to break up this human sheild.
