Unprecedented Mass Die Offs as Pacific Ocean "Turning Into a Desert" Off California Coast

The ocean is dying, by all accounts – and if so, the food supply along with it.

A startling new report says in no uncertain terms that the Pacific Ocean off the California coast is turning into a desert. Once full of life, it is now becoming barren, and marine mammals, seabirds and fish are starving as a result.

The waters of the Pacific off the coast of California are a clear, shimmering blue today, so transparent it’s possible to see the sandy bottom below […] clear water is a sign that the ocean is turning into a desert, and the chain reaction that causes that bitter clarity is perhaps most obvious on the beaches of the Golden State, where thousands of emaciated sea lion pups are stranded.

But that's just the beginning...

The only man in Fukushima sacrifices himself for radioactive animals

The Fukushima nuclear disaster that took place several years ago made all the residents leave a 12.5-mile radioactive zone. The animals though have not been evacuated.
55-year-old Naoto Matsumura, a fifth-generation rice farmer from Fukushima thought back to all the animals he'd left behind on his farm home.
Despite strict orders from the Japanese government, he made his way back to Fukushima in order to check up on his family's dogs, being fully aware of the risk this endeavour posed. When he got to the farm, Naoto witnessed something he was not ready for.

TEPCO Admits Fukushima Is Leaking Again - Over 600x 'Safe' Radiation Levels

Having killed a robot by underestimating the level of radiation present in the Fukushima power plant, and after delaying its previous admission of a leak, Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) has quickly admitted that the nuclear plant has sprung another leak. As EFE reports, a small quantity of radioactive water has leaked from a storage tank with 70 microsieverts per hour of beta-ray-emitting radioactivity detected on the surface where the water had leaked, far exceeding the recommended maximum exposure of 0.11 microsieverts per hour.

Chernobyl fire: Kiev claims no radiation threat, experts ring alarm bells

But not everyone’s doubts have been dispelled. Greenpeace and a host of experts in the field are ringing alarm bells: “The amount of radioactivity potentially released from wildfires could be the equivalent of a major nuclear accident,” it told Govorit Moskva radio shortly after the situation became started. The potential danger in this fire comes from the radioactive contaminants the burning plants have absorbed, ecologist Christopher Busby told RT.

“Some of the materials that were contaminating that area would have been incorporated into the woods. In other words, they land on the ground in 1986 and they get absorbed into the trees and all the biosphere. And when it burns, they just become re-suspended. It's like Chernobyl all over again." Busby is the scientific secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risks.

Firefighters battle forest blaze in radioactive Chernobyl zone

Ukrainian firefighters reportedly managed to contain a massive forest fire close to the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear power plant on Wednesday. Massive fires engulfed the woods around the facility on Tuesday. The zone is heavily contaminated by radiation after the world’s worst man-made nuclear disaster in 1986.

Chernobyl’s Radioactive Forest Fire. [April 29, 2015] – Location on map, Wind & Radiation Monitoring links

RT: How dangerous is the situation in your opinion? Do you agree with ecologists who say the smoke will spread the radiation John Large: […] It is not the reactor, it is not the location of the reactor that is the problem – it is the dispersal plumes from the original accident – that is the problem. If there are radioactive materials on the ground now and then it’s engulfed by forest fire maybe 40-50 km away from the reactor. But that deposited radioactivity is re-suspended into gas, blown high into the atmosphere by the heat of the flames, and then of course it settles somewhere else.

HAZMAT in Ukraine on Thursday, 30 April, 2015 at 08:36 (08:36 AM) UTC.

Radioactive ashes and dust caused by the forest fire in exclusion zone of Chernobyl nuclear power plant is expected to fall today in Kiev - during the previous days of the fire the radioactive precipitation fell in Belarus. Today, the wind will change and precipitation will fall on Kiev, whose residents will feel cinder of the fire already by dinner.

St. Louis burning: America’s atomic legacy haunts city

Lupus causes a patient’s immune system to turn on its own body, attacking healthy joint and organ tissues. It is most common in middle-aged women such as Nickel, but has recently been linked to exposure to uranium.

That’s what Nickel thinks caused her lupus. She’s since found out that at least three other people from her childhood neighborhood also have the disease. They all grew up in a neighborhood bordered by a suburban St. Louis creek that was contaminated with nuclear weapons waste for decades before any cleanup operations started.

There may still be radioactive waste in the creek, which regularly floods parks, businesses, and neighborhoods — most of which have never been tested for radioactivity and remain open to the public with no notification of the potential risks.

Worst fire since 1992 getting close to Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine

According to him, about 400 hectares of forest are engulfed in flames. "At 18.30 the situation with forest fires around Chernobyl has deteriorated. The flame is again engulfing the forest at the approaches to Chernobyl NPP. Upper level fire and sharp gusts of wind created a serious threat of fire spreading 20 km away from the Chernobyl NPP", - reported Avakov.

Because of the fire in Chernobyl the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk immediately arrived at the area and convened the Commission on Emergency Situations. The national guard and Interior Ministry units have been called up.

"Yatsenyuk and officers of the Emergency Situations Service are working on site, in the vicinity of the line of fire," - writes the Minister of the Interior.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This will make the world sorry it put a CIA death squad in charge of chernobyl

The fire encompasses the plutonium burial areas. According to State Emergency Service (GSChS) the fire blazes already near the village. It is 13 km from the station. People are close to panic. The Deputy Director on scientific work of the Museum of Chernobyl, Anna Royal, said:

The fire had already moved in close to Chernobyl, the radioactive waste burial site. There is one of the most polluted places. Nearby the burial of radioactive waste. Plutonium is one of the most dangerous elements that infects the haematopoietic system of a person. As long as nobody touches it, this element is not dangerous. But if in the street the wind and the fire, plutonium particles can rise a meter and be transported over long distances.

Meanwhile, as reported by the interior Minister Arsen Avakov, to extinguish the fire involved the national guard. In Kiev, there are rumors that some deputies of the Verkhovna Rada and members of the government have taken out of town for their families.

Tepco to abandon the second robot in Reactor 1 again / Camera went out of order due to high level of radiation

On 4/20/2015, Tepco announced they are going to leave the second robot in Reactor 1 as well.

From 4/18 to 4/19/2015, the second robot investigated the first robot that stopped moving inside PCV (Primary Containment Vessel), and they concluded it had one of the wheels stuck between the gratings though they did not release sufficient visual reports.

They need to transform the second robot to let it out of PCV, but one of the cameras was found out of order to control the transformation.

The cause is assumed to be the excessive level of radiation.

As a result, Tepco has decided to abandon the second robot and two of the robots did not bring more than the data they were supposed to send from PCV.
