Last year, Frankfurt became the first city in Germany in which native Germans are a minority and almost all the recent population growth in the country has been shown to have been driven by mass migration.

Is Merkel saving face? Controversial Germany-Spain deal on migrants comes into force

As a Berlin-Madrid deal to send back migrants coming though Spain comes into force, critics call it a "symbolic" gesture aimed to calm the political storm in Germany but that will not solve the migrant crisis.

Germany reached a deal on Wednesday for Spain to take back previously registered migrants who show up at the German border. The move is seen as the first step towards implementing a deal which Merkel earlier reached within the ruling coalition to defuse the political dispute in Germany over migration.

AfD local leader takes heat after calling ‘hero’ who tried to kill Hitler ‘traitor & coward’

An AfD local leader was lambasted on social media - and by his own party - after calling Claus von Stauffenberg, a man who lead a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler a "coward" and a "traitor." ... In modern Germany, many regard Von Stauffenberg, one of the central figures of the German Resistance, as a hero. Yet Lars Steinke, the head of the youth wing of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Lower Saxony, countered that view in a blunt statement, saying for him the officer was "an enemy of the German nation" ... Steinke suggested that von Stauffenberg's actions actually represented "a shameful attempt of a coward" ... "Stauffenberg was a traitor who was ready to sacrifice millions of lives without any notable benefit for the German nation."

German woman receives large fine for criticising refugees on Facebook

A German cleaning lady received a fine of 1,650 euros for criticising refugees and the country’s asylum policy, news outlet Wochenblick reports.

The woman committed her ‘Orwellian thought crime’ on Facebook, as she said this about refugees:

“Sh*t on the state, steal from people, rape, swirling the eggs, demand money from us and sue the state. That’s what they can. They’re more valuable than gold, our super-skilled people.”

The cleaning lady’s plea for help to the German judiciary was not heard. On the contrary, the district court of Dachau fined the cleaning woman because of “sedition” (§ 130 StGB).

She was given a 1,650 euro fine, as the court’s opinion was that her comment against refugees “scared people”.

Germany’s ‘thought police’ uncovered the case after receiving a message from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

‘Antifa Soccer Cup for Tolerance’ Abandoned After ‘Huge Brawl’ Between Refugee Teams

Germany’s annual ‘anti-racist’ soccer tournament had to be abandoned this year after violence broke out during the final, with players from the two refugee teams starting a massive brawl on the pitch.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing violence erupt suddenly during the match after an argument between players from the ‘Red Tree’ team — the organisers behind which say they “fight Nazis” while seeking to make Zwickau “cosmopolitan, tolerant and courageous” — and from “Antifa soccer club” Marienthal United 08’s refugee squad.

ISRAEL'S AMBASSADOR CONVINCES BERLIN'S JEWISH MUSEUM TO CANCEL BDS SPEAKER

eremy Issacharoff, Israel’s ambassador to Germany, complained to the head of the Jewish Museum in Berlin about a hardcore anti-Israel speaker, prompting the museum’s director to pull the plug on the academic’s July talk.

The slated talk was to be delivered by the US-based academic Sa’ed Atshan, a Swarthmore College professor of Peace and Conflict Studies in Pennsylvania, who said in 2014: “We all know Israel is an apartheid state and should be boycotted.”

Ambassador Issacharoff told the Munich-based Süddeutsche Zeitung that he welcomed the decision of the museum to cancel Atshan’s talk. “Atshan is very closely connected with BDS [Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions]” and “he is not a person who wishes to build bridges of understanding with Israel.”

Germany Encourages India To Keep Buying Oil From Iran

Germany’s minister of state for foreign affairs has encouraged India to continue buying Iranian oil, despite pressure from the United States, which Niels Annen called “irritating, to put it mildly.”

“I am not a salesman for Iran but I have an impression that India is willing to continue buying oil from Iran and this will be a very important statement,” Annen told Indian media, as quoted by Sputnik, also noting that whatever New Delhi decided, it would be a sovereign decision.

India is Iran’s top oil client, and it is also one of the countries that are most heavily dependent on oil imports. This means that the consequences of U.S. sanctions on Tehran will spread to India, which already has a problem with too high international oil prices.

Canada should help Holocaust denier on trial in Germany: civil liberties group

A civil liberties group is urging the Canadian government to end the "unjust and immoral" imprisonment of Monika Schaefer, a German-Canadian woman on trial in Germany for publishing videos denying the Holocaust. The Ontario Civil Liberties Association says it's concerned about Canada's apparent unwillingness to come to the aid of Schaefer, who it describes as a Canadian "political prisoner" who was charged with a German criminal law that does not exist in Canada and is contrary to international law ... Schaefer has been in custody since her arrest and her trial is set to continue until August 17, the office says, adding the maximum penalty for each count is three years' imprisonment.

The initial successes of our forces against the Soviets were due to the fact that the Russians were not stationed in defense positions, but were instead positioned right at the front for attack, which made it possible for us to quickly encircle large Soviet forces. Thus, in the first weeks of the war, we were able to capture more than three million prisoners of war as well as enormous quantities of war equipment, all of which was on the frontier, positioned for attack. That's the truth of the matter, which can be proven.

Poll Shows Germans Want US Troops to Withdraw From Germany

A new poll for the DPA news agency is showing German voters are growing resistant to the current level of spending on the military in their country, as well as the number of US troops that Germany is playing host to.

The poll shows that, even as officials fret President Trump threatening to pull US troops out of Germany, voters would welcome the US departure, with only a hair over a third of the Germans wanting US soldiers to stay. 35,000 US troops are currently in Germany.

Taken along party lines, Germans on both the left and the right were the heaviest supporters of the US withdrawal, with Die Linke voters overwhelmingly backing the idea. The ruling Christian Democrats are the least strongly in favor of the pullout.

Germans are not just sick of foreign troops, either. The poll showed strong resistance to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s call to spend 2% of Germany’s GDP on the military. Only 15% of Germans support that idea.

US & Israel want to stop Iran from withdrawing its cash from Germany

Iran wants to withdraw €300 million ($350 million) from bank accounts in Germany before US sanctions kick in, German newspaper Bild reports. The United States and Israel are reportedly pressuring Berlin to intervene and stop it.

Iranian officials told the German Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) the money is needed “to pass on to Iranian citizens who require cash while travelling abroad, given their inability to access recognised credit cards,” Bild reports.

BaFin has been reviewing the request, the media says. Senior officials in the Chancellery, Foreign Ministry and Finance Ministry have been made aware of the situation.

Tehran has accounts at the Europaeisch-Iranische Handelsbank AG (eihbank). The lender was subject to sanctions from 2010-2016, for allegedly financing the Iranian nuclear program.

US and Israeli intelligence agencies have said the money could be used by Iran to fund armed groups in the Middle East, according to the media.

Merkel fires back at Trump: Germany makes independent decisions

Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday said Germany makes "independent decisions", firing back at US President Donald Trump after he accused Berlin of being a "captive" of Russia.
The two-day meet in Brussels was already shaping up to be the alliance's most difficult in years, with Europe and the US engaged in a bitter trade spat and Trump demanding that NATO allies "reimburse" Washington for the cost of defending the continent.

European alliance members were braced for criticism from Trump on defence spending, but his furious tirade at what should have been an amicable breakfast meeting appeared to take even NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg by surprise.

"Germany is a captive of Russia because it is getting so much of its energy from Russia," Trump said, taking particular aim at the proposed Nord Stream II pipeline.

72 percent of Germans say immigration is negligently handled

Three quarters of Germans think the country’s immigration policies are “too careless,” a new YouGov survey reveals. The survey was carried out on 2040 people between June 20 and July 4, when Chancellor Angela Merkel and Interior Minister Horst Seehofer were in the midst of a debate about accepting refugees at the German-Austrian border.More than half of those surveyed thought the country accepted too many refugees, while seven percent said it was too little.

Germany: 'Decapitating' Freedom of the Press?

If it was indeed the authorities' plan to censor the news and keep the information of the beheading under wraps, then it backfired. Due to the reports about the raid, thousands of people have seen the video, and hundreds of thousands have heard about the botched censorship attempt.

Hamburg's government is still trying to conceal the beheading. Among other things, they [the AfD party] wanted to know whether the child had been beheaded. The administration -- in breach of its constitutional duty -- refused to answer. It also censored the questions by blacking out whole sentences.

Why the beheading should be kept a secret is anyone's guess. What has become clear is how easily authorities in Germany can censor the news and punish bloggers who spread undesired information. They have a vast toolbox of laws at their disposal. It does not seem to bother them that the law invoked in this case stipulates explicitly that it shall not be applied to the "reporting of contemporary events."

As Merkel's Star Fades, This Is What Is Really Happening Behind the Scenes

For many years German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been regarded, with reason, as the most powerful woman in the world. Over the past few months Merkel’s authority has diminished precipitously, however, mainly due to her irrational immigration policy. That much became obvious at last weekend’s emergency EU summit on immigration.

The meeting was hastily convened at Merkel’s insistence to develop a joint European strategy to deal with the ongoing migrant onslaught. In reality it was meant to be “Operation Save Mutti”: a means of preventing her government’s collapse by showing that the Union can develop a tougher immigration strategy.

Resistance: Thousands of Germans protest against Merkel and migration in Cottbus

The march was organised by Zukunft Heimat, a German community organisation, and took place throughout Cottbus, with demonstrators calling out, “Merkel must leave”, “We are the people” and “Deport!”.

According to Zukunft Heimat, thousands of citizens were protesting against Merkel’s open border policy. “We are a lot, our numbers grow and we will continue to protest until the 2015 open border policy stops”.

The repeating protests in Cottbus have become a symbol of national resistance against Merkel and her destruction of Germany, Zukunft Heimat reports on their Facebook page.

“It’s good to be here on the streets again,” one participant said, “otherwise you could go crazy in this ‘Merkelised’ country.”

Iranian leader describes EU proposals to save JCPOA as ‘disappointing’

In a phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described as "disappointing" the package of European proposals to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear issue. "Unfortunately the proposed package lacked operational solution and specific method for cooperation, and featured just a set of general commitments like the previous statements by the European Union," the Iranian leader was quoted as saying on his official website. During the phone call, the German chancellor said that the discussion on details of the agreement should continue. "What is important is that we know and we are certain that we want to stay in the deal and we believe that dialogue should continue in peace," she was quoted as saying. Reuters reported later in the day that Rouhani also held a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

U.S. Sidelined as Five Powers Set to Give Iran New Assurance

Top diplomats from world powers will meet on Friday in a bid to defend their landmark nuclear deal with Iran from attack by President Donald Trump.

Foreign ministers from China, France, Germany, Russia and the U.K. will convene in Vienna for the first time without the U.S. in order “to ensure the continued implementation” of the accord, which granted Iran a reprieve from sanctions in exchange for limits to its nuclear program, according to a European Union statement on Wednesday. Trump abandoned the deal in May and reimposed sanctions against countries and companies doing business with Iran.

“Austria and the European Union are ready to maintain and deepen the framework for cooperation with Iran,” Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen said following a meeting in the Austrian capital with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani. U.S. threats to impose secondary sanctions violate the rights of European companies and individuals, Van der Bellen said.

GERMAN PROTESTERS FED UP WITH US WARS BLOCKADE RAMSTEIN AIR BASE

About 2,500 people gathered outside the largest US base in Germany over the weekend as the Trump administration considered a possible US withdrawal from the country.

Sputnik Deutschland contributor Marcel Joppa was on the scene for Saturday’s protest, joining people of all ages including seniors as old as 80 years old, who endured the summer heat and faced down the police to show their discontent with US military operations launched from German soil.

Organized by the “Stop Air Base Ramstein” civil group, the protest was attended by several politicians, most notably Sara Wagenknecht, the leader of The Left Party faction in the Bundestag.

Addressing the crowd, Wagenknecht spoke out on the issue of drone warfare, “which although not written about much in the big press continues to take place.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

German Journalist: More and more citizens wake up and realize that something is totally wrong here

Germany accepted more than a million migrants. Why did the Germans let it happen? It didn’t look like a very democratic decision?

No, it was not a democratic decision and Angela Merkel was criticised in hindsight by parts of the media. The biggest problem was that it was a creeping development, the extent of which the majority of Germans only became aware when it was too late.

The decision of Angela Merkel from September the 4th 2015, was sold as a humanitarian state of emergency. You have to imagine: The mood in the summer of 2015 was a kind of welcome culture, which was exaggerated to the extreme by the media in Germany.

Merkel herself did not act on humanitarian grounds when she decided to let these people through to us

DOMINIC SANDBROOK: Europe's elite are so blinded by their own sanctimonious piety that they cannot see that the migration crisis is pushing millions to the extreme Right

This has not been a great week for Angela Merkel.

A keen football fan who celebrated in the dressing room after Germany won the last World Cup, she watched in horror on Wednesday as the reigning champions crashed out at the group stage for the first time since 1938.

It might seem trivial. But the humiliation of Mrs Merkel’s boys is an irresistibly compelling symbol of what has happened to her domestic reputation and Utopian dreams.

The day after Germany’s exit, with cruelly ironic timing, Mrs Merkel was also on the move, arriving in Brussels for the EU summit.

For the Chancellor, it was a long day. She was up with her fellow EU leaders until 4.30 on Friday morning, arguing about immigration before agreeing a tissue-thin compromise deal.

'The end of the Schengen?' German MP suggests Merkel has GIVEN IN to her coalition demands

A GERMAN MP, who is a member of Angela Merkel's party, has suggested that the Chancellor gave in to the demands for stricter migration controls, amid concerns over the future of the Schengen agreement.

German MP Klaus-Peter Willsch has suggested that the Europe-wide migration deal, struck in the early hours of the morning, could collapse and doom the Schengen agreement.

Mr Willsch is a member of Angela Merkel's same party, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), but he has become known as a critic of the Chancellor.

He told the BBC's Justin Webb that Germany may still have to resort to Interior Minister Horst Seehofer's controversial suggestion of turning away asylum seekers at the border.

The German politician admitted that this could spell the end of the Schengen Zone, the regime that permits free movement across borders in the EU.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So now, the people of Europe have all the bad side of being in the EU, and lost lost one of the few good sides.

Make Or Break Time For Merkel: What To Look For In Today's EU Summit

Migration, trade, Brexit and the EU budget - but mostly migration - will be the big talking points at today’s EU summit which kicks off in Brussels shortly and continues into Friday.

As DB notes, there’s a laundry list of agenda points to get through for EU leaders with the not so insignificant talking points like Brexit, migration policy, the EU budget, security and the economic and monetary union amongst the big topics. The summit will be of particular significance for Merkel given domestic political tensions of late however yesterday the CDU and Social Democrats confirmed that no headway was made on migration talks in a meeting in Berlin which will only heighten the pressure on Merkel. Notably, the CSU Party leader Seehofer did reaffirm on ARD TV that “I know of nobody in my party who either wants to endanger the government….or bring down the Chancellor”.

Greek Prime Minister Tsipras Open to Deal With Merkel to Take Back Migrants

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said he was ready to strike a deal with Germany that would speed up migrant deportations to the first port of entry, in an interview out Wednesday.

"We don’t care about the fact that maybe we’ll have some returns from Germany if this will help, in order to give the signal to the smugglers," he told the Financial Times newspaper.

Tsipras said he believed the existing Dublin regulation, which requires asylum seekers to apply in the first EU country they enter, to be "out of life."

What's Next? Penises? German TV Invites Kids to Play With Breasts

The controversial game has made headlines in German media and sparked intense debate among experts and social media users. The TV channel already caused criticism earlier this year, after it aired a program that seemed to implicitly support child marriage in Germany.

The German TV channel KIKA, whose target group is kids aged from three to 13, has launched a controversial memory game called "Breasts! Breasts! Breasts!" on its official website.

The picture puzzle, that is supposed to playfully inform minors about seven different forms of women's breasts, requires players to search for the identical pairs and match them together with the help of their memory.

The game has caused vivid discussion among the German public about whether it is suitable for small children to play.

HELICOPTERS, 100S OF AUSTRIAN SOLDIERS & POLICE OFFICERS TAKE PART IN MIGRANT 'DETERRING' DRILLS

Hundreds of Austrian soldiers and police were involved in a border protection exercise that simulated containing migrants amid fears neighboring Germany might begin to turn away new arrivals trying to cross their frontier.
Austrian authorities deployed 600 police, 400 soldiers and two Black Hawk helicopters on Tuesday in an exercise which simulated arrival of hundreds of migrants on the country’s border with Slovenia, local media reported.

"A state that in the worst case cannot protect its borders loses its credibility," Interior Minister Herbert Kickl of the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) told reporters, as cited by Reuters. “I am determined that events like those of 2015 must not occur again. And that is exactly the message we want to send from here.”

Thursday Deadline Looms For Merkel to Save Herself as No Deal Reached at Weekend Migrant Crisis Summit

The crisis which could see the toppling of German Chancellor Angela Merkel has heightened after she was unable to secure any consensus or deal at an informal European summit on migration over the weekend.
Chancellor Merkel, along with several prominent European leaders from 15 other countries, met in Brussels over the weekend as part of an informal discussion on migration ahead of a formal summit to take place on Thursday.

Despite looking for a European solution to deal with the migrant issue, Merkel left the meeting with no agreement but what she described as “much goodwill”, Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports.

The lack of any quick agreement is an issue for Merkel as her coalition allies, the Christian Social Union (CSU), who have given her only two weeks to find a European solution to the crisis or she could face the collapse of the government and be forced out of the Chancellery.

Germany's Migrant Policy: Why Trump Was Right

US President Donald Trump attacked German Chancellor Angela Merkel's migrant policy this week. The people of Germany are turning against their leadership as migration is rocking the already tenuous Berlin coalition," he tweeted on June 18. "Crime in Germany is way up. Big mistake made all over Europe in allowing millions of people in who have so strongly and violently changed their culture!" he added.

President Trump's comments come at a time when Merkel is facing the biggest crisis of her career. She is struggling to hold her government together, with the Bavarian Catholic party, the Christian Social Union (CSU), threatening to leave the governing coalition over immigration. The CSU wants the police to have the authority to turn away illegal migrants at the border, a move bitterly opposed by Merkel.

While Trump slammed Merkel's handling of the migrant crisis during his presidential campaign, until now, he has refrained from publicly criticizing her over the issue.

Investigation Finds Migrant Career Criminals Routinely Protected from Deportation

An investigation into Germany’s Federal Agency for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) has found that migrant criminals with records of murder, rape, and drug dealing have been allowed to stay in the country under the asylum law.
German tabloid Bild claims to have gained access to records and letters sent from field officers across the country warning the security department at the BAMF headquarters in Nuremberg of asylum seekers with long records of criminality.

According to one case obtained by the tabloid, the security unit of BAMF was warned about an asylum seeker with 85 criminal charges currently against him in Turkey.

“The applicant stated in his hearing and has shown that there are approximately 85 ongoing criminal proceedings against him in Turkey. There is also an arrest warrant against the applicant,” the letter said.

Merkel Says Undocumented Migrants Should Have 'No Choice' of Asylum Country

On Sunday, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker convened what he called an "informal working meeting" on migration issues, with all interested EU member states invited to participate

Undocumented migrants should not have the right to choose a country, where they will request for asylum, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said.

"On the one hand we cannot abandon the countries accepting refugees, because it would mean that they should deal with all the problems on their own, that it was not a common decision. But on the other hand, illegal transporters and refugees cannot chose on their own, in which European state they will request for asylum," Merkel told reporters on Sunday after the meeting.
