The threat of a nuclear war between the US and Russia is now at its greatest since 1983

When the Commander of NATO says he is a fan of flexible first strike at the same time that NATO is flexing its military muscle on Russia’s border, the risk of inadvertent nuclear war is real.
US Air Force Gen. Tod D Wolters told the Senate this week he “is a fan of flexible first strike” regarding NATO’s nuclear weapons, thereby exposing the fatal fallacy of the alliance’s embrace of American nuclear deterrence policy.

Pentagon races to counter coronavirus threat on military forces

The Pentagon is taking care to prevent a slip in national security and readiness following the steady global spread of the coronavirus that has the Department of Defense (DOD) holding off on a military exercise, quarantining fleets and curtailing troop movement.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, DOD in the last week has canceled a joint military exercise with South Korea, restricted access to public areas at Army installations in Italy and ordered all ships that have visited countries in the Pacific region to remain at sea for 14 days, essentially a self-quarantine.

U.S. Central Command has also ordered a stop to all nonessential travel in the Persian Gulf region.

Russia Deploys Elite ‘Hellduck’ Bombers for Strikes on Jihadists as Clashes in Idlib Escalate

The Russians have deployed several warships carrying Kaliber Cruise Missiles off the coast of Syria the past couple of days and these planes too.

Amid escalating clashes in Syria’s Idlib province, which have seen Turkey providing considerable armaments and direct fire support to a range of jihadist militias on the ground, the Russian Air Force has deployed its elite Su-34 ‘Hellduck’ strike fighters for attacks on militant positions.

A Syrian friend is telling us that his sources in Syria are telling him that Turkey is preparing to invade Syria along it entire border at various points. The Russian and entire Syrian military are on high alert. Turkey Asks NATO to Join Its War Against Syria and Russia

Note: The events that led to this critical impasse were reported by me last night, and that report thus continues here, in order to provide context to these events.

The spokesperson for the Islamist party of Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan has called upon all of NATO to go to war against Syria for Syria’s having killed dozens of Turkey’s troops in order for Syria to defeat Turkey’s invasion and military occupation of Syria’s Idlib Province, which borders on Turkey. Going to war against Syria would mean going to war also against Russia, which is in Syria to protect Syria’s sovereignty over its own territory. If the United States accepts that Turkish proposal, then World War III will consequently result.

THIS ASSANGE “TRIAL” IS A SELF-CONTRADICTORY KAFKAESQUE NIGHTMARE

It’s common in British courtrooms to have something called a “dock”, a place where defendants sit separately from court proceedings. Not all UK courtrooms have docks, and not all docks are the “secure” glass cabinet type which Assange is kept in; they can also be open wooden enclosures. Because Assange is being kept without explanation in a maximum security prison normally reserved the most dangerous violent offenders and terrorism convicts, his trial is taking place in a cage that is very much the “secure” type (so much so that he’s been complaining that he can’t hear the proceedings in his own trial through the bulletproof glass), and there is an expectation that he remain there. The magistrate has ruled that this nonviolent offender shall be kept in his sound-resistant enclosure throughout the duration of his trial, bizarrely asserting that Assange poses a danger to the public.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please remember; nothing ever reported at Wikileaks, has ever been proven to be wrong.

What is happening to Assange is punishment for having told the truth, and "embarrassing" certain US public officials; nothing more and nothing less.

His extradition, and ultimate guilty verdict in an alleged US "Court of Law", means that no journalist will ever be safe in this country if they tell the truth, EVER AGAIN.

THE TRILATERAL COMMISSION: USING CRISIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO REFORM

SOURCE: STEVEN GUINNESS
A couple of years ago I posted an article that gave a brief overview of the Trilateral Commission, quoting directly from numerous former members of the institution and how their overarching goal was for the integration of nation states at the expense of self determination.

As noted in the brochure, one of the purposes of creating the Trilateral Commission back in 1973 was to ‘buttress a beleaguered trading order.’ When considering the rise in political protectionism, trade is at the forefront of the discussion. As well as the future trading relationship between the UK and the EU, and the ongoing trade conflict between the U.S. and China, there is now the added element of the Coronavirus which threatens to restrict global supply chains. Taken together, it is a melting pot of developing crises.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In our world, there is only one, count them, ONE set of "Contracts with America"; they are called the Constitution and Bill of Rights, period, end of discussion.

SYRIA - DEADLY BOMB STRIKE WARNS TURKEY TO END ITS ESCAPADES

SOURCE: MOON OF ALABAMA
The last three days of the Idleb campaign were quite eventful.

The Turkey supported Jihadis threw everything they had against Saraqib where the M4 and M5 highways join. This enabled the Syrian army to take some 40 towns and cities at the southern front. The whole Ghab plain is now in liberated and the frontline has been massively shortened.

Saraqib fell to the Jihadis but they paid a very bloody price for it as the Syrian and Russian air force continued to intensively bomb the approaches to the city. A new defensive line has now been established around Saraqib and the Syrian army is preparing to recover it.

To take the large area in the south in difficult terrain and against little resistance was more important than the temporary loss of Saraqib.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope and pray that someone besides Erdogan, in Ankara, is reading the tea leaves here, and understands - fully - what has to happen, which is a total and complete withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria, and as immediately as humanly possible.

Angering Russia in this way was one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid things Erdogan could have done here, to the point where Moscow believed that the only remedy for Turkey's aggression, was a retaliation of this magnitude.

I would like to hope (and pray) that Edrogan is capable of learning from his mistakes, but am unsure how this will translate into Turkey's future policy on Syria and Russia.

Traditionally, Russia and China are classified as land powers and the United States of America as a sea power. The American nation is a historical heir to England, which for a long time reigned sovereign over the oceans. American geopolitics, therefore, is based on tactics of expansion by the sea, allowing this country to act in areas outside its continent, influencing the whole world and thus guaranteeing its global hegemonic power.

Turkish military carries out massive attack against Syrian Army

Putin is a day late and a ruble short. The Man has repeatedly let the terrorists and their sponsor Turkey off the hook! Very weak!

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:25 P.M.) – The Turkish military carried out a massive attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) last night, as their drones and ground forces launched several strikes on the government’s positions in the Latakia, Hama, Aleppo, and Idlib governorates.

Even NATO is unwilling to touch Turkey’s Idlib mess with a ten-foot pole

is a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer. He served in the Soviet Union as an inspector implementing the INF Treaty, in General Schwarzkopf’s staff during the Gulf War, and from 1991-1998 as a UN weapons inspector. Follow him on Twitter @RealScottRitter

Having been hit by the Syrian Air Force in Idlib, Turkey has called on NATO’s protection, but as much as the alliance would like a fight with Assad and his ally Russia, it’s refused to back Ankara’s questionable adventure.
Turkey engaged NATO in Article 4 consultations, seeking help regarding the crisis in Syria. The meeting produced a statement from NATO condemning the actions of Russia and Syria and advocating for humanitarian assistance, but denying Turkey the assistance it sought.

A failed gamble

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is painfully obvious, that Erdogan did not due his "due dilligence" with NATO, of which Turkey is a member, to sound out potential support for this military misadventure, which is on track to be one of the most miserable epic fails in Turkey's contemporary history, before he decided to send in troops.

The next Turkish Parliamentary elections are scheduled in about 3 years from now. Turkish General Elections Scheduled for 2023.

IF Edrogan keeps writing geopolitical checks his military is unable to cash, this pathologically "bad behaviour" on his part may well sour the Turkish electorate on him; cause the voting public to go back to a Parliamentary system of elections; and find someone else who will care enough about the Turkish people and its military to not put them in harm's way like this.

And now, we have a related story, from rt.com, with the following headline:
Turkey & Syria on brink of WAR in Idlib: How did it come to this?

I am hoping (and praying) that Russia's collective general level head will continue to prevail, but it all depends on how hard Erdogan, and his military, are willing to push back here.

Erdogan has been very much behaving like the human version of a loose cannon, ever since the 2016 attempted coup in Turkey; I am seriously hoping that there has got to be a point, where he has to realize what harm he is bringing to both his people, and his military; but in looking at his current behaviour, relative to Syria, I am not so certain that we are going to see a change in the behaviour which brought Turkey into Syria in the first place.

US Defences Are Incapable of Intercepting Russian, Chinese Missiles, Navy Admiral Admits

The statement was made during a hearing devoted to the US plans to modernise American weapons and to possible ways the US can respond to the new cutting-edge weapons Russia rolled out in last two years.

US Navy Admiral Charles Richard has admitted that existing American air defences were not designed to counter modern hypersonic glide weapons, like the one recently deployed by Russia, and currently developed by China, and hence these weapons "challenge" the US, during an open hearing at the US House Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. He added that the Pentagon even has trouble determining the capabilities of modern weapons, although it still can make a reliable guess on what threat these weapons pose.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get my head wrapped around this; for all the money spent, the US military is still behind the proverbial 8-ball when it comes to weapons development which should be AT LEAST a step ahead of what Russia and China are producing right now?!?

For all the money US taxpayers have forked out to prevent this, it is still, apparently, happening; there should be a public hearing as to why this has happened, and the heads of those companies which have screwed US taxpayers out of the best weapons systems in the world (which we should, absolutely, have by now, with what has been spent on these systems) should be hard time in a non-club Fed prison for a form of treason against the people of the US, not to mention its military.

Draconian?!? Absolutely.

But it will possibly "cure the problem"?!?

I strongly believe that the short answer is, "HELL, yes!!"

Hundreds of Refugees Reportedly Move Towards European Borders Amid Escalation in Idlib

Ankara has linked a new refugee crisis with renewed hostilities in Syria’s Idlib Province, where the Syrian Army has been repelling militant attacks, some of which began under the cover of Turkish artillery fire, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

Hundreds of refugees coming from Syria, Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq are currently moving towards Turkey’s borders with Europe following reports that Ankara will no longer prevent migrants from crossing them, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported. According to the media outlet, these refugees have been moving in large groups on foot and using vehicles via the cities of Istanbul, Edirne, Izmir, and Aydin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Turkey-Russia Tensions Soar After Deadly Syria Strike

The leaders of Russia and Turkey held crisis talks Friday after 33 Turkish soldiers died in a regime air strike in Syria, prompting President Donald Trump to urge an end to the Moscow-backed Syrian offensive against rebel holdouts.

The attack by Syrian forces took place late Thursday in the northwestern province of Idlib, where President Bashar al-Assad is waging a fierce campaign to oust rebels from their last stronghold.

Trump "condemned" the attack on Turkey's troops and joined his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in calling jointly on Russia and Syria to "halt" the Idlib operation, the White House said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word please, just in case your "kitchen cabinet" failed to inform you; Idlib is sovereign Syrian territory, which the Syrian and Russian governments are working to take back from foreign -sponsored terrorists, like those Turkey has been supporting, training, funding, and arming.

The country absoflippinglutely in the wrong here, is Turkey,; not Syria, and not Russia; I do not know why you have a problem keeping this fact straight, but it appears that you very much do have a problem, keeping this fact straight.

Turkey needs to leave immediately, to ratchet down tensions here.

33 KIA in Airstrike on Turkish HQ in Syria. Russia Denies Ankara’s Request to Evacuate the Wounded by Air

In any case, the strike was possible because Russia keeps Idlib skies closed to Turkey, and Russia’s attitude was demonstrated sufficiently with the refusal of the Turkish request to allow speedy medical evacuation of the wounded with helicopters, which doubtlessly contributed to more agony and possibly deaths of Turkish soldiers. (An aerial evacuation was allowed earlier this month when Turks were hit by Syrian counter-artillery fire but since then a video emerged of Turkish soldiers firing an anti-aircraft missile at a Russian plane.)

The threat of a Russia-Turkey-NATO hot war over Idlib is a godsend for US foreign policy

Turkey is calling for NATO’s protection after 33 of its soldiers were killed in an apparent Syrian airstrike in Idlib, allegedly while fighting in terrorist ranks. In the regional chaos that ensues, only one player stands to gain.

Speculation over what’s to come next has seen #article 5 trending on Twitter in the hours following the attacks, after Omer Celik, spokesman for Turkey’s ruling AKP party, indicated to reporters in Ankara that he was looking at requesting formal NATO protection against Damascus and, by proxy, the Russian air force.

“We call on NATO to [start] consultations. This is not [an attack] on Turkey only, it is an attack on the international community. A common reaction is needed. The attack was also against NATO,” Celik told Turkish media.

Article 5 of the NATO treaty says an attack on one member is an attack on them all.

Capture of M5 Hama-Aleppo Highway: One of the Most Celebrated Prizes in Damascus’ Campaign to Regain Territory

The return of the M5 should lower costs of shipments of goods between Aleppo and Hama, Homs and Damascus at a time the Syrian economy is in crisis due to nearly nine years of warfare and US and European sanctions. Jamil’s journey shows that travel has been eased for civilians who save time as well as rationed petrol.

The capture of the M5 by the Syrian army is one of the most celebrated prizes in Damascus’ campaign to regain territory lost to takfiris and rebels since unrest erupted in 2011. The 450-kilometre M5 links Syria’s main cities, Deraa, Damascus, Homs, Hama and Aleppo, and was the main artery for both commercial and personal travel before the war. The government began to lose control of the highway when diverse rebel and takfiri groups seized different sectors.

The War Scenario Between Israel and Hezbollah

Sources within the “Axis of the Resistance” believe the next battle between Hezbollah and Israel, if ever it takes place, would be “controlled and not sporadic, with a focus on specific military objectives without damaging the infrastructure, on both sides”.

The sources consider Gaza as a precedent. In Gaza Palestinians and Israelis have fought many recent battles that lasted only a few days in which the objectives bombed were purely military. This is a new rule of engagement (ROE) regulating conflict between the belligerents. When Israel hits a non-military target, the Palestinian resistance responds by hitting a similar non-military target in Israel. The lesson extracted from the new ROE between Israel and the Palestinians is that every time exchanges of bombing go out of control, both sides understand they have to bring it back to an acceptable and equitable level, to limit damage and keep such mutual attacks from targeting civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Hezbollah seems to be discounting, and this is a highly dangerous, if not a thoroughly naive position for Hezbollah to embrace, is that there is zero guarantee that Israel will not deploy chemical/biological weapons against it to "enhance" its capabilities on the ground, no matter how many missiles Hezbollah may have with which to do damage to Israel.

Pentagon Papers Case Vindicates Julian Assange

Under the First Amendment, affirmed by the Supreme Court in the Pentagon Papers case, analogous to the Trump regime v. Assange, no one may be lawfully punished for truth-telling — not journalists or anyone else.

In wanting Julian Assange extradited to the US for prosecution under the long ago outdated Espionage Act relating to WW I, the Trump regime aims to reverse the landmark Supreme Court Pentagon Papers ruling.

Arguing to uphold speech and press freedoms when the case was heard by the High Court, Justice Hugo Black said the following:

The government’s injunction to prohibit publication by the NYT and Washington Post “should have been vacated without oral argument when the cases were first presented,” adding:

“(E)very moment’s continuance of the injunctions…amounts to a flagrant, indefensible, and continuing violation of the First Amendment.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Punishing people for telling the truth, is an anathema, in a truly democratic society, which unfortunately, the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America, is not any more.

U.N.'s Bachelet urges Saudi to release women activists, uphold rights

- U.N. human rights chief Michelle Bachelet urged Saudi Arabia on Thursday to uphold freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly and review convictions of activists, religious leaders and journalists as it prepares to host a G20 summit this year.

Bachelet, in a speech to the U.N. Human Rights Council, called on Riyadh to release several Saudi women activists jailed for demanding “reforms of discriminatory policies”.

“I also call for full transparency in the ongoing judicial proceedings, and comprehensive accountability, regarding the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi,” she added, referring to the U.S.-based journalist killed by Saudi agents at its Istanbul consulate in October 2018

Webmaster's Commentary:

Good luck on THAT, my dear!

The only way this will change, is for all Saudi women for whom it is possible, to immigrate out of the country; cause birth rates to plunge; and cause men to be unable to find wives, at any possible bride price.

That ... is the only thing which may, over time, cause the Saudi stance on women to begin to soften somewhat.

Because right now, women are considered "useful", only as creators of children for their families; and do not get me wrong, this is vital if a society is going to grow, and prosper.

But that being said, if there was ever a country where a middle eastern version of "Stepford Wives" might be possibly and potentially, already in the works, it would be Saudi Arabia, because of their government's consistent denial of basic human rights for women.

Oh, and let's not forget the potential cloning of children here, when the birth rate plunges below zero; one has to wonder if Saudi Arabia has already borrowed a page from China's gene/birth manipulation process, to produce their own version of "super babies", because women do not want to bear children, given the unbelievably restrictive set of policies by the Saudi government against women Saudi nationals.

The Paradox of America’s Endless Wars

Here’s a word that essentially dropped out of Washington’s dictionary in this century: peace. It used to be part of the rhetoric, at least, of politicians there, but in the era of the war on terror it’s barely made an appearance. In election year 2020, however, it’s back, not as a global phenomenon or as a general term, but very specifically connected to the more than 18-year-old American war in Afghanistan. News reports now regularly refer to a “peace deal” or “peace agreement” that’s been secretly (and yet half-publicly) negotiated between the Trump administration and the Taliban and that will reportedly be signed at the end of this month; if, that is, it doesn’t collapse the way the last version of it did when Donald Trump canceled a meeting with Taliban officials at Camp David.

Donald Trump's Erratic Foreign Policy Is a Failure

One of the most memorable parts of the 2020 State of the Union was President Trump’s surprise reunification of a military family. “For the past seven months, her husband, Sgt. 1st Class Townsend Williams, has been in Afghanistan on his fourth deployment,” the president said, introducing Amy Williams and her two young children before revealing to thunderous applause that Sgt. Williams was present in the House chamber. A happy moment, but why shouldn’t all military families experience the same joy?

Reuniting one family is good, but what about the tens of thousands of other families still separated by wars Trump could end at any moment? The president talks a good talk about ending “endless wars,” to use a phrase from last year’s SOTU, but he has failed to extricate the United States from a single conflict. The incongruity is indefensible.

Beyond Israeli Elections: Israel at the Cusp of a Bleak Era

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, must be channeling the spirit of Houdini as he continues to plot his escape from one of the most convoluted political dilemmas in Israel’s history.

It is no secret that Netanyahu’s political behavior is almost entirely shaped by his desire to survive in office for as long as possible in order to avoid possible jail time. But how long will the Israeli escape artist manage to survive, now that a date for his trial has already been set?

After months of bargaining with the country’s political elite, on one hand, and pleading to his own right-wing constituency on the other, Netanyahu has failed to create the necessary momentum that would render him immune from prosecution and secure his position at the helm of Israeli politics.

After failing to form a government following the April elections, Netanyahu has masterfully linked his fate as a Prime Minister to all of Israel’s affairs, internal and external.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why Netanyahu desperately needs a "misdirection", to deflect Israeli anger at his failure to deliver a government twice, not to mention his upcoming corruption trial.

The man is certainly not above creating a "false flag" in order to do this, let's say, creating a false flag strike against Saudi and US military personnel in Saudi Arabia, then blaming it on Iran.

Israeli elections start this Monday, and trust me; the man will do everything in his power, to stay in power, and present himself as "untouchable" in these ongoing corruption investigations.

The big question for Israeli voters is, how much is he actually willing to risk in terms of Israel's security, in order to attempt to pull something like this off?!?

I must tell you, I wouldn't want to have to be an Israeli voter, pondering that question right now.

2,500 US Troops Now Stationed in Saudi Arabia to ‘Deter’ Iran

Al-Qaeda was very publicly using the presence of US ground troops in Saudi Arabia as a recruiting tool in the period around 9/11. Suggesting that many lessons have not been learned, some 2,500 US troops are back in the kingdom, and readying for a long stay.

Hype surrounding military tensions with Iran are driving this US deployment back into the region. More and more ground troops are being sent every time there is even a little tension, nominally to “deter” Iran from attacking the Saudi kingdom.

These deployments began in earnest when Yemen’s Houthis fired at missile at Saudi oil producing regions, and the Saudis blamed Iran for it. US military tensions in Iraq led to many more troops being sent, since Iraq made clear they didn’t want more US troops there, and the US wanted them somewhere near Iran.

US hostility toward Iran isn’t getting better, so a decision to leave seems unlikely.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please; the leadership of Iran may be many things, but one of them, sir, is NOT overtly stupid; they understand that any attack directly against Saudi Arabia will translate into a US attack against it which would leave the country a radioactive puddle of oozing glass and concrete.

So who, in the region, might be the likely culprit for a false flag attack against Saudi Arabia, to be blamed against Iran?!?

In a word sir, one of your BFFs in the Middle East, and the guy who is fighting back for his political life, struggling against corruption charges, and a new election next month; and yes, that person would be... (drum roll, please) none other than Bibi Netanyahu.

And if you think, for a millisecond, Mr. President, that Netanyahu would not order such a strike, to attempt to save his own skin, you are horrifically mistaken; Netanyahu, right now is, and has been, a geopolitically wounded animal, between the corruption charges, and twice having been unable to form a new government.

Geopolitically wounded candidates are the most dangerous.

And would he inform you about such a false flag strike before it happened?!?

Mr. President, in order to inflict maximum world geopolitical shock at such an act, to be blamed ultimately on Iran, I doubt like hell this is going to happen, and you have now positioned US troops in Saudi Arabia as absolute "sitting ducks" for such an attack.

Mr. President, I care about our troops; many of them come very much from families like mine - middle class, who believe that service to their country, is an honor, which I also believe.

But sir, Israeli elections will start to be held on this Monday, 2 March
.
Please keep a close eye on your BFF Netanyahu throughout this process; his internal polls may suggest that he needs something terrifying substantive to happen pull people together to support him, and an alleged Iranian attack against Saudi Arabia may just be what he chooses, to galvanize his base around him.

Russian Airstrikes Kill at Least 34 Turkish Soldiers in Syria

Weeks of threats by Turkish President Erdogan to retake Syria’s Idlib Province by force went extremely poorly on Thursday, when Turkish forces moved into an observation post south of Idlib City, and were immediately hammered by airstrikes from both Russia and Syria.

At least 34 Turkish soldiers were reported killed in this strike, a major number of casualties. Turkey’s Hatay Governor reported casualties were still flowing into his province from Idlib.

Turkey has put thousands of troops in Idlib recently, and Erdogan had promised to reclaim all 10 of the observation posts, while ultimately expelling Syria from Idlib. They negotiated with Russia on getting Syria to surrender, but that failed.

Turkey seemed to be under the assumption that they could overrun Syria’s military, still taxed by a long civil war, with little problem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And we have a companion piece to this, also from antiwar.com, with the following headline: Turkey Set for Lone War as US Dismisses Idea of Reentry:
Esper: I don't see any likelihood that we would be back

The article goes on to state: "Turkey’s repeated escalations in Syria’s Idlib Province came at least in part with US officials endorsing them and the idea of confronting Russia. But as Turkey risks blowing this up into a whole new war, it’s a war that they’ll be fighting alone.

US officials are making clear they aren’t considering joining the war in any real way. Defense Secretary Mark Esper in particular said that 'I don’t see any likelihood that we would be back along the border.'

There were few reasons to think the US would want to get sucked back into a war in Syria, particularly one against Russia. This is likely informing Turkey, in the recent flare-up, were trying to play this up as a fight against the Assad government, and not Russia.

That makes sense, of course, because Turkey’s military is in a decent position to fight a one-on-one conflict with war-weary Syria over Idlib Province. Fighting Russia is something else entirely, especially with the US not interested in getting sucked in."

IF Edrogan thought for one second, that his position was secure in Syria, because the US military would be coming to his aid, he really mis-read the tea-leaves here, to the point of being utterly dead-wrong.

I hope that his supporters in Turkey understand that this hairbrained campaign was utterly not in their best interests, and although I do not believe that Turkish law has any equivalency to the US's 25th Amendment, I hope (and pray) that the Turkish people get disillusioned with their current national leadership in a way which will leave room for cooler heads to prevail on the stage of international geopolitics, the next time there is a national election.

RUSSIA'S MILITARY ROLLS OUT NEW 'CRUISE MISSILE KILLER' WEAPONS SYSTEM

Moscow's military has received its latest anti-air system and tested its ability to take on incoming aircraft at a time when Russia and the United States were competing for cutting-edge warfighting capabilities.

Russia's aerospace forces commissioned the new S-350 Vityaz surface-to-air missile system on Wednesday. The system was delivered to the Air and Space Defen?e Academy in the Leningrad region and underwent training "to detect and destroy a mock air enemy."

"The S-350 combat crew demonstrated their skills, hit a mock enemy with electronic missile launches, and marched to a new position area," the Russian Ministry of Defense said Wednesday in a press release.

Israel to form 'anti-Palestinian resistance force' in occupied West Bank

Israeli authorities will establish a joint defence agency tasked with "supressing Palestinian resistance", if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu goes ahead with plans to annex West Bank settlements, according to a Haaretz report.

Composed of state institutions - including the army and police - the new agency is drawing up contingency plans for a range of possible scenarios, including mass popular uprisings in cities across the West Bank.

Intelligence assessments fear mass unrest among Palestinians in the event of Netanyahu's victory in next week's elections, which will likely pave the way for Israel to impose full sovereignty over settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The Knesset caretaker government's attempts to adopt the measure in December drew criticism from Israel's security establishment due to its timing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The potential here for mass Palestinian violence - and massive Israeli military/police crackdown against it- is greater now than it has been for quite some time.

Lieberman says government to be formed without Netanyahu: No chance for unity

Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman, who emerged as kingmaker in Israel's two previous elections this year, said on Wednesday that he is ruling out the possibility of forming a unity government with Benny Gantz's Kahol Lavan and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud after the March 2 ballot.

Speaking at the Ma'ariv Business Conference 2030 in Herzliya, Lieberman said: "Gantz and Netanyahu together reached 65 seats [in the last election], and I told them to form a government, but they preferred to argue over who would be first and who would be second," Lieberman said.

"There is no more unity government. It's clear that nothing can be built with those two, so we're preparing ourselves," the former defense chief added. "We're ready for the day after the election. We will have 61 Knesset seats without Netanyahu, Dery and Litzman," referring to the heads of the two ultra-Orthodox parties, Shas and United Torah Judaism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, come 2 March; but looking at how Netanyahu has positioned himself here, particularly with the approval of the E1 Settlement Netanyahu approves new settlement units in E1, one week before the election, I would not count him out just yet.

Erdogan Says Turkey Will Risk Everything to Expel Syria From Idlib: Says Syria will be ousted from Turkish posts this week

urkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised Turkey will risk “all kinds of sacrifices” in its upcoming military conflict with Syria, promising to see Syria ousted from Idlib Province, and not accepting the smallest step back.

Erdogan in particular is focusing on wanting to reclaim military posts ion Syrian territory, but it’s clear his war is going to go beyond that, as he’s repeatedly talked of retaking towns for the rebels.

Erdogan has said the offensive is still coming this week, with the goal of having all the posts reconquered by week’s end. That’s very ambitious, particularly with Russia backing Syria. Thousands of Turkish troops are in Idlib in anticipation of this fight.

A lot of this depends on how willing Turkey is to take this fight into a full-scale war, with the risk of Russian involvement looming large.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Erdogan is threatening to do, is only completely in-your-face insane, if he doesn't have the covert, and full assurance of the Trump administration to support him in these efforts, as another ploy to regime change Damascus, and Turkish troops are now the US "proxies" in Syria for so doing, at least for the time being.

Just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government and military could do, is utterly no guarantee that they will not try to do it; a US war against Russia in Syria could well be one of the worst military catastrophes in which the US could find itself potentially enmeshed, and this may well be upon us, before some adults in the bowels of power in DC have the ability to prevent it.

Netanyahu approves new settlement units in E1 one week before election

Just one week before elections, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced his approval of 3,500 new illegal settler homes in the highly contested ‘E1’ area of the central occupied West Bank.

“I have given instructions to immediately publish for deposit the plan to build 3,500 housing units in E-1,” Netanyahu said in a speech on Tuesday, adding that the plans “had been delayed for six or seven years.”

Israel’s plans for the E1 corridor, which has been in the works since 1995, has been consistently delayed due to pressure from the international community, including the EU and former US administration.

The E1 plan seeks to create a settlement bloc connecting the mega settlement of Ma’ale Adumim with Jerusalem, effectively splitting the West Bank in two, cutting off the north from the south.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This also insures that if Palestine ever is allowed to exist by Israel, that there can be no contiguous Palestinian border.

Badass of the Week: Jacklyn H. Lucas

Looks like the US is getting ready to attack Russia. It wont end well. It will be the end of America and of most of us who live here. Thanks Trump!

A massive trans-Atlantic military exercise has gotten underway with over 40,000 US troops and military vehicles expected to arrive in Europe. It is the largest US troop movement across the Atlantic in 25 years.

In total, over 20,000 troops and 20,000 pieces of equipment are being shipped across the Atlantic, arriving at six European seaports. They will then transfer to staging areas and on to military maneuvers with European partners, the US Army said.

A significant part of the troops and equipment are expected to be deployed to Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

The U.S. Is the World Leader of Bio-Weapons Research, Production, and Use Against Mankind

While tangible evidence is not available, the new Coronavirus, (2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) one in a line of many that could have been produced by man in laboratories, is affecting almost exclusively the Chinese at this point. This has seemingly opened the floodgates to speculation as to its exact origin. This virus has unique characteristics that have happened before with SARS and MERS, and has genetic material that has never been identified, and is not tied to any animal or human known virus. This should be troubling to all, because if this is manmade, it was manufactured as a weapon of war. So who is responsible for its release in China? It is possible that this virus was created in China and was “accidentally” released into the population, but that does not sound credible at any level. Do any think that the Chinese government would create a Chinese race specific virus and release it in their country?

Overt Trump Regime Support for Al-Qaeda Offshoots in Syria, ISIS-Daesh Et Al are Pentagon/CIA Proxies

Both right wings of the US war party support ISIS, Al-Qaeda, its offshoots, and likeminded terrorist groups in Syria and other countries where their fighters are deployed as Pentagon/CIA proxy troops.

Instead of explaining reality on the ground in US war theaters, establishment media blame nations victimized by its aggression for high crimes committed against them.

Syria is Exhibit A, US aggression ignored, government forces, greatly aided by Russian airpower, vilified for liberating cities, towns and villages from US-supported “jihadists” — what’s currently ongoing in Idlib province, the last stronghold in the country of these elements.

On Monday, Trump’s envoy for regime change in Syria James Jeffrey indirectly expressed support for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham — the al-Qaeda offshoot al-Nusra by another name.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Once you realize that this is all about fossil fuel; the control of it, and the selling of it only in American dollars, does the American position of utilizing terrorists to further their objectives in the region become crystal clear.

Israel’s Netanyahu threatens Gaza with ALL-OUT WAR if missile attacks continue

Israel will stop at nothing to ensure its security and may well launch a broad military campaign against Gaza if the local armed groups continue with missile strikes, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Air raid sirens were heard across southern Israel for the second straight day on Monday. The IDF said that some 50 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israeli territory, with 90 percent of them intercepted.

The missile strikes were met with a harsh response, with the Israeli Defense Forces confirming on Twitter that multiple strikes against targets in Gaza have been carried out.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Look for many more alleged "Palestinian missiles" to target Israel as the "justification" for the IDF to go in and bomb every Palestinian still breathing, and very soon.

After all, Israel's next election happens this Sunday, 2 March Israel calls for another election for March, the third in one year, and Netanyahu, with his corruption trial moving forward, is feeling the pressure to present his electorate with as many dead Palestinians as humanly possible, before this happens.

Expect a massive Israeli bombing campaign raining fire and flames down on Gaza before Sunday's election, and I would not be surprised to see such a campaign begin ... today.

Time is short for Netanyahu to "deliver" on this.

ASSANGE EXTRADITION HEARING OPENS WITH SCATHING CONDEMNATION BY MAINSTREAM MEDIA

SOURCE: MINT PRESS
The extradition trial of Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange got underway at Woolwich Crown Court in London today. Assange, 48, is wanted by the U.S. government on 18 charges of hacking and breaches of the Espionage Act, specifically for the publication of evidence leaked by Pvt. Chelsea Manning that detailed evidence of American war crimes in the Middle East. If found guilty he faces up to 175 years in prison.

The prosecution, led by James Lewis, Q.C., began by reading out a damning statement from five leading media organizations, The Guardian, The New York Times, El País, Der Spiegel and Le Monde, all of whom had partnered with Wikileaks, gratefully publishing the group’s revelations but now condemned them, helping his prosecution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please remember; nothing ever published by Wikileaks, has ever been proven to have been wrong, or a lie.

IF the prosecution is successful here, it will mean we have truly come to the end of independent American journalism, and that all we can expect from a monied-protecting infrastructure, coupled with the US military industrial complex, are more lies out of the presstitute media, aimed at intensifying and keeping current US-enabled global wars going, through which to expropriate other countries' raw materials, and creating new fronts through which this country will be fighting more wars for resources.

Is we look at what is happening now in this country and beyond, what we see, when focused through a very long lens, a "history telephoto" lens, is the coming last gasp of the American empire.

And when conscription comes back in this country, (and right now, it appears to be a question of when, rather than if), it will absolutely not come for those scions of rich Americans families; the US government and military, will be coming for your sons (and your daughters) this time, and there will be no way out for them, but to be of service; not actually in service to the American republic, you understand, but to those monied in this country, who, through supporting wars to leverage expropriation of foreign resources, profit immensely.

There are moments when I really wish I had less of a "jaundiced eye", when looking at geopolitical events unfolding all over the globe, and could be slightly more optimistic about the future of humankind; unfortunately, logic, and the sheer weight of the bad decisions this US government continues to make, render optimism impossible, under such circumstances.

How the ‘Interpreter’ Scam Brought 75,000 Iraqis and Afghans to America

One fact about all empires. The Homeland becomes over run by foreigners. Happens to every empire and helps to destroy it.

The latest battle over Special Immigrant Visas pitted Stephen Miller, President Trump’s senior advisor, against the Pentagon. The military brass was lobbying for 6,000 special immigrant visas for Iraqis who worked for American forces in the country. These visas were once again billed as helping “interpreters”.

That’s a lot of interpreters considering that there were only 5,200 American troops in Iraq.

How could there be more Iraqi interpreters for American troops than there are troops?

The Lima Group Is More than Just About Venezuela. Scheduling More Coups and Color Revolutions in Latin America?

At the behest of Donald Trump and Chrystia Freeland, the Lima Group met in Ottawa on February 20th, 2020. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne dutifully mouthed their set lines and good Samaritan posturing in the pretense of democracy, humanitarianism and the rule of law. Ostensibly, the purpose of this meeting was to devise and orchestrate ways to oust the vile, murderous dictator, as Washington has sought to cast the duly elected President Nicolás Maduro.

Progressive chroniclers and activists have almost exclusively been concerned with the notion that a dismembered Venezuela is the main, or even the only, labor of love of this nefarious little band of economic fundamentalists, death-incanting, democratically-challenged member regimes of the Lima Group. I fear that we may not fully appreciate what this cartel is up to.

Lest We Forget – Hillary Clinton: We Must Destroy Syria for Israel

This article was originally published in 2018.

A leaked Hillary Clinton email confirms that the Obama administration, with Hillary at the helm, orchestrated a civil war in Syria to benefit Israel.

The new Wikileaks release shows the then Secretary of State ordering a war in Syria in order to overthrow the government and oust President Assad, claiming it was the “best way to help Israel”.

Newobserveronline.com reports:

The document was one of many unclassified by the US Department of State under case number F-2014-20439, Doc No. C05794498, following the uproar over Clinton’s private email server kept at her house while she served as Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013.

Although the Wikileaks transcript dates the email as December 31, 2000, this is an error on their part, as the contents of the email (in particular the reference to May 2012 talks between Iran and the west over its nuclear program in Istanbul) show that the email was in fact sent on December 31, 2012.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just in case we are looking at a "brokered Democratic convention", (read; insert Hillary as (failed) Presidential candidate again), please remember; we are looking at a woman for whom American lives are expendable for Israel, no matter how much blood and money is spent on wars with which to protect it from its own bad behaviour.

What We’re Not Allowed To Know About the Afghan War

So, to hit only the highest of the highlights: let’s review just what’s (sequentially) in, the security section of SIGAR-46 – with particular attention to what it says, doesn’t say, and says it doesn’t say. The darn think begins with a instructive admission from Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, in which he admits the Afghan War is "still" in "a state of strategic stalemate." Not too comforting, that – especially after 19 years of killing and dying. Then, it quotes a January 22, 2020 White House statement that President Trump’s goal is for the Taliban to demonstrate "a significant and lasting reduction in violence…that would facilitate meaningful negotiations on Afghanistan’s future."

Feb 24 07:34

Five things to know about emerging US, Taliban peace deal

The hardest part is yet to come.

Skeptics of the Trump administration's peace efforts have long said the most difficult part will be intra-Afghan talks.

It's also the most critical part, they say, because peace won't happen without political reconciliation in Afghanistan.

The Taliban has previously resisted talks with the Afghan government, which it sees as a puppet of the United States.

Political turmoil within the Afghan government could also complicate talks by giving Afghan President Ashraf Ghani a weakened hand.

Ghani was just declared the winner of the September 2019 presidential elections this past week. But he got only 50.64 percent of the vote, just a smidge above the 50 percent needed to win.

And his chief rival, Abdullah Abdullah, is still disputing the election results, claiming victory himself and pledging to form a government of his own.

Lawmakers remain skeptical.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Had the war criminal President Bush simply paid the price the Taliban was originally asking for lease of Afghanistan pipelines in 2001, none of this would ever have happened.

‘Sick People’: Russian Officials Blast Pentagon Over Drill Simulating ‘Russian Nuclear Attack’

On Friday, the Pentagon reported that it had staged a “mini-exercise” in which Russia dropped a low-yield nuke on a European NATO member. The drill followed a recent House Armed Services Committee hearing in which a senior Pentagon official said that the US needed a plan to be able to “fight and win” wars in a nuclear-contaminated environment.

Russian lawmakers have reacted to the Pentagon’s fantastical scenario involving Russia’s alleged plans to use low-yield nukes on the battlefield, calling the exercise outrageous and offering various ways that Moscow can respond.

Dangerous games: US NUKES Russia in ‘mini exercise’ attended by Pentagon chief

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper played himself in a drill at the US Strategic Command HQ in Nebraska, which featured a bizarre scenario of America nuking Russia in response to its own nuclear strike against a ‘NATO ally’.

US military exercises simulating various crises are not that uncommon, yet, out of all plausible scenarios, this particular drill apparently simulated a highly unrealistic one. The classified exercise conducted at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha on Thursday focused on an imaginary nuclear conflict between the US and Russia in Europe.

Today in History: FDR Issues Executive Order Creating American Concentration CampsBy: Dave Benner|Published on: Feb 19, 2020|Categories: History

On this date in 1942, Franklin Roosevelt signed the infamous executive order 9066, authorizing the War Department to establish military zones that would serve as internment camps for mostly Japanese and Italian Americans.

After the United States entered World War II, the president felt that the presence of foreign nationals could not be tolerated in time of war, and would produce seditious and rebellious behavior:

Webmaster's Commentary:

Many, particularly internment camp members from Hawaii, never got anything back, in terms of money, or lands they may have owned before their internment; it was, at worst, a cynical land and money grab, many times from Asian citizens who never did - or would have - hurt this country in any way.

Saudi Arabia Says It Intercepted Several Missiles From Yemen

Saudi Arabia’s state media has reported that they intercepted several missiles Friday which were fired from northern Yemen. They say the missiles were deliberately aimed at civilians, accusing the Houthis of turning the Yemeni capital of Sanaa into a hub for missiles.

The Houthis confirmed their strikes, saying they hit targets in Saudi Arabia “with precision” and that Saudi Aramco was struck. Aramco made no comments on the incident, and Saudi reports similarly made no mention of them being hit.

In the past, successful Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have been blamed more or less entirely on Iran. Saudi coalition officials this time are trying to emphasize the Houthi “threat” to civilians to justify the ongoing war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Saudis need to stop attempting to position themselves as "a force for good" in Yemen, when they are methodically slaughtering infants; toddlers; children; women; and the medically fragile elderly, then attempting to blame the Houthis for these assassinations.

It's not working; even the American people are awake enough to understand who the "bad guy" is here, and that ... is saying something.

Pompeo Stresses Iranian Threat in Saudi Visit, Meets New Sultan in Oman

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been on a world tour that brought him to Munich, parts of Africa and, most recently, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Not surprisingly, Pompeo’s visit to the two Gulf countries was mostly focused on countering Iran, although he was forced to address the issue of imprisoned US citizens inside Saudi Arabia.

Before traveling to Saudi Arabia, Pompeo talked to reporters in Ethiopia on Wednesday about the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. “The pressure campaign continues. It’s not just an economic pressure campaign, it’s diplomatic pressures, isolation through diplomacy, as well,” Pompeo said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More sound and fury, on the part of Pompeo against Iran, signifying.... absolutely nothing.

What, please, has Iran done to the world to make it the world's enemy, except to thrive economically, after the 1979 Revolution?!?

The short answer is, nothing.

And before it gets pulled from English speaking audiences, please bop over to the English language version of www.presstv.com, and see just what the Iranians are saying about themselves, and about world affairs.

I would politely suggest to both Israel's Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, and the US's President Trump, that although Iranian leadership may be many things (including being a theocracy, as is Israel Israel has evolved from democracy to theocracy) , one of them is not wild-ass crazy; they will not do something overtly aggressive, because they understand that should they do something stupid, it will result in that country being melted into green glass by a joint US/Israeli nuclear strike against it.

As Turkey Escalates Syria Fight, Growing Pressure for US to Get InvolvedTurkey wants US warplanes, Patriot missiles in Idlib

Turkey continues to step up fighting in northern Syria, running up against Russian forces, and giving the appearance of an imminent war in the Idlib Province. Turkey’s willingness to escalate seems to have been picked up by US encouragement, and now Turkey seems to be leading the call to get the US dragged into this conflict as well.

US interests in the Idlib Province are virtually non-existent. Any US-backed rebels that were once there have been wiped out, or aligned to some Islamist group long ago. Arguments for intervention are that Idlib is becoming a flashpoint between Russia and Turkey.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Turkey, looking at its battered and flagging options in Syria, against Syrian and Russian military push-back, wants war between the US and Russia in Syria.

And we have a companion piece on this issue, also from anti-war.com,featuring the following headline: As Syria’s War Escalates, Growing Risks of Regional Turmoil:
Conflict increasingly centered around major foreign actors

The article goes on to state: "This week of fighting in northeastern Syria saw a disturbing escalation, with Turkey bringing itself more directly into the war, and several other foreign powers at risk of being dragged in as well.

Turkey’s commitment to prevent Syria from winning the war has threatened to turn this into a border war, and there are a lot of regional interests that could be involved. Russia has warned Turkey away and almost certainly is going to limit how far Turkey can go before they directly intervene to stop them.

That’s already a substantial fight, and with Turkey trying to get the US directly involved in this part of Syria, it could kick off direct military confrontation between the US and Russia. The US has been publicly endorsing Turkey’s action, but it remains to be seen if they’ll get themselves drawn into a war over it."

Unfortunately, just because something is the most monumentally ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government and military could possibly do, is utterly no guarantee that the US will not do it.

I am quite certain that one of the world's best "Trump Whisperers", Bibi Netanyahu, facing one of the most contentious political fights for his life, come the Israeli elections in early March, is "encouraging" Trump to take this idiotic step, toward "regime change" in Damascus, no matter even if it will mean war with Russia, even though the US military is woefully unprepared, under-staffed, and dealing with inferior weaponry, in attempting such a task.

Mr. President: I am respectfully requesting that you NOT commit to a war in Syria at this time. Our military is stretched to the limit with regard to personnel; there is no money, no manufacturing, and no real weaponry advantage we have over the Russian military at this time, and anyone with any horse-sense on this issue, will tell you so, no matter how angry that will probably make you at this time.

And if what I am telling you regarding the status of the US military is the butt-ugly truth right now, (and sir, forgive me, but it is), you have a national, and moral, obligation to fix it: please do so, and right the hell now.

You are welcome, Mr. President.

"Biggest Humanitarian Horror Story Of The 21st Century": Up To A Million Refugees Trying To Flee Idlib

The ongoing final battle for Idlib could unleash the biggest refugee exodus the nine-year war has seen, United Nations officials are warning.

Recent statements from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs puts the latest wave of civilian displacement since December 1 at 700,000.

Turkey's Erdogan is now petitioning the US and NATO to given military assistance against the rapidly advancing Syrian Army backed by Russian air power. International reports suggest up to one million internally displaced persons are now surging toward the Turkish border.

The Wall Street Journal reports that "Families in northwestern Syria are trapped between the advancing Syrian military — backed by Russian airstrikes and pro-Iranian militias — and Turkey."

The report notes Turkey has sealed the border using its military:

"The border is closed to refugees, secured by walls, trenches and guards who have shot people trying to cross without permission," according to the WSJ.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of course, the Wall Street Journal will not mention what the US has supported here for years; that would really eviscerate the narrative that "Whoever the US sponsors, are always the good guys."

There are no easy answers here; but that being said, the US is horrifically culpable in this humanitarian catastrophe, having supported/armed/financed alleged "Syrian moderate rebels" ( read: ISIS, Al Qaeda) for years here.

Erdogan, Putin, Merkel and Macron to Meet March 5 on Idlib

The Turkish, Russian, German and French leaders will meet on March 5 to try to find a solution to the crisis in the city of Idlib as Turkey and Russian-backed Syrian forces risk confrontation in the region.

Following phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that he will meet them all on March 5, without disclosing the location. As Turkey slides toward war, Ankara has appealed to the U.S. and its European allies for support in a conflict that risks undermining the friendly ties he’s built with Moscow.

READ: Turkey and Russia Near Breaking Point in Syrian Standoff

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just what kinds of back-channel communications are going on here, between Ankara and DC; because the US still wants al-Assad out of Damascus, has Turkey been promised some kind of quid pro quo, for keeping Turkish, and Turkish-backed rebels in Idlib, no matter the costs from Syrian and Russian military?!?

Looking at the apparent madness of Edrogan's stand and demands here, this is almost the only thing which makes sense.

TRUMP APPOINTS PRO-ISRAEL, ANTI-IRAN AMB. RICHARD GRENELL AS ACTING INTELLIGENCE CHIEF

SOURCE: CHRIS MENAHAN, INFORMATION LIBERATION
President Donald Trump on Wednesday appointed US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell as the acting director of national intelligence, making him the first openly gay person to serve in a cabinet-level position.

Donald J. Trump
?
@realDonaldTrump
Thank you to our great US Ambassador to Germany, @RichardGrenell, for stepping in to serve as acting DNI. I will be nominating a terrific candidate for the job very soon. Stay tuned!

As The Jerusalem Post reports, Grenell is known for his "pro-Israel and anti-Iran" stances.

"For Israel's security and defense establishment, Grenell's hawkish views towards Iran's regime will be welcomed with open arms," Foundation for Defense of Democracies fellow Benjamin Weinthal said.

Though Grenell officially serves as the US' ambassador to Germany, one might assume by looking at his Twitter feed that he was Israel's ambassador to America.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This absolutely does not augur well for peace in the Middle East, at all; but peace, of course, is utterly not what either Netanyahu nor President Trump wants to see happen here, but a massive "regime change" in Tehran, to be brought about "by any means necessary".

I would, however, like to politely remind Prime Minister Netanyahu; President Trump; and Acting DNI Grennell, of the following, reported in the English language version of the Moscow Times last summer:

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

So, gentlemen, there you have it; should the US(and/or Israel) attack Iran, Russia, and some other, yet to be identified regional players, will be working with Iran to stop such a campaign.

If Kabulov has made the Iranian diplomats who attended this conference such a promise, you can bet it came directly down from "the boss", Vlad Putin; career politicians like Kabulov do not even fart, without Putin's express permission.

So, gentlemen, war with Russia over.... Iran?!?

Would someone please, run a cost/benefit analysis of what such a US military campaign would cost, in American blood and money?!?

And President Trump, are you willing to bet the future of your political party on such a dicey prospect, at the end of your first term, or the beginning of your second?!?

And are you willing to face the political consequences of having to reintroduce the draft, which this time, according to legislation quietly ready for implementation, will be coming not only for our young men, but also for our young women as well?!?

I would hope that the answer here will be, "HELL, no!!"

Clusterfuck Nation – Blog February 21, 2020 Keep Throwing Spaghetti at That Wall

We’re reminded this morning by The New York Times, America’s official psychotic fantasy generator, that the Russians are coming (again!) as an ad hoc arm of the committee to re-elect Mr. Trump. You have to ask yourself: Does Mr. Trump actually need their help? His opponents have been self-meddling so diligently that their party now looks like a Frankenstein creature assembled from the spare parts of Herbert Marcuse, Tupac Shakur, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, and Jame Gumb. Imagine that monster running a government.

110 US troops suffered concussion, brain injury in Iranian strike: Pentagon

The US Defense Department has yet again raised the number of troops wounded in Iran's retaliatory missile attack in Iraq last month, saying they have suffered “traumatic brain injuries.”

The Pentagon said on Friday 110 service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury following the Iran strike on January 8. The figure is higher than the last toll that was announced on February 10.

Chuck Baldwin - This is ZOG (Zionist Occupational Gov't.)

While US troops are fighting Israel's wars abroad, the homeland has been conquered not by arms, but by money. How should Americans respond to being subjugated?

by Chuck Baldwin
(Abridged by henrymakow.com)
. The entire political debate in America centers on the left-right paradigm. If you are a Republican, Democrats are the enemy; if you are a Democrat, Republicans are the enemy. The entire political world revolves around this notion.

It's all a game, a façade, a hoax.

Here's how it works: When the ruling class wants to focus on building a socialist Welfare state, dismantling traditional cultural and religious norms and enacting gun control, it puts liberal Democrats in power. And when it wants to focus on building the Warfare State and creating foreign enemies for the purpose of expanding the "war on terror" and a global surveillance state, it puts conservative Republicans in charge.

Assad Forces Give Turkish Army Whipping In Eastern Idlib

On February 20, the 2nd Army of NATO and its proxy forces once again failed to capture the village of Nayrab, eastern Idlib, from the Syrian Army. The Turkish attack involved 2 dozens of military equipment pieces, including battle tanks and artillery, over 200 Turkish soldiers and approximately 300 members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and other Turkish-backed groups.

2/7/20 Danny Sjursen on America’s Coming Battle for Eurasia

Danny Sjursen is back for part two of his conversation with Scott about America’s foreign policy disasters, this time focusing on what Sjursen calls “the coming battle for Eurasia.” According to an old theory of geopolitics, the power that controls central Eurasia—that is, eastern Europe and parts of the Middle East, with all its natural resources and strategic position—will be the dominant global hegemon. Obviously, certain figures in the American government would like to be in that position. The problem, Sjursen points out, is that America is way too far away to have any business trying to do this, especially while countries like Russia and China might have an interest in trying to stop us. He says that based on his experience in the military, people seem to think the U.S. could wage a conventional war with tanks, infantry, and aircraft carriers against other world powers, without resorting to nuclear weapons.

Toggle navigationSYRIA - TURKEY'S BLUFF IS CALLED - MEDIA OPPOSITION SOURCES RUN BY BRITISH INTELLIGENCE

SOURCE: MOON OF ALABAMA

Russia has called Turkey's bluff of a wide ranging attack on Syrian government forces. The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan will now have to find a way out of the Idleb trap he set himself in. His excellent Syria adventure is coming to an end.

Meanwhile we learn that the British military intelligence ran another large dis-information campaign that brought 'Syrian voices' into the 'western' press.

Erdogan continues with his wild rhetoric over Syria.

#ERDOGAN: "#Turkey cannot be confined within the 780,000 km2 border. #Misrata, #Aleppo, #Homs & #Hasaka are outside our actual borders, but they are within our emotional & physical limits, we will confront those who limit our history to only 90yrs."
The Turkish talks with Russia have not gone well. Russia had proposed the following points:

1- 16-km border strip in Idlib under Turkey control
2- Russia controls crossing between Idlib strip and Afrin

Webmaster's Commentary:

Edrogan's brain is writing checks his military are singularly unable to cash, and his military and political friends back home, had better do some creative heads-up, thinking back in Ankara over this weekend.

I do not know if Turkish law has a legislative equivalent to the US Bill of Rights' 25th Amendment, or if snap elections are allowed, but the rest of the Turkish government, and his military, needs to do something to cage the "Erdo-Madness" here, and right the flip now; otherwise, Russia is going make it difficult for Turkey to be able to do anything on the International stage, and that should give both Turkish political and military leaders an industrial-strength pause for thought right now.

NETANYAHU “OPTIMISTIC” ISRAEL CAN USE POLITICAL PRESSURE TO SHUT DOWN ICC WAR CRIMES PROBE

SOURCE: MINT PRESS
TEL AVIV — Since the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced it would investigate war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank last December, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been attempting to rally Israel’s allies in a multilateral effort to stop the ICC’s probe.

Those efforts have now left Netanyahu “optimistic,” with the embattled Prime Minister reportedly telling members of his cabinet that Israel’s efforts to lobby other countries against the ICC case is paying off, according to a recent report published by Reuters. “We are struggling against this [proceeding] and, at our side, I must say, are many friends around the world [which] joined the U.S. in a steadfast stand alongside Israel,” Reuters quoted Netanyahu as saying.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Israel has utterly nothing to hide, in terms of its treatment of Palestinians, why, then is it so terrified of this ICC probe?!?

Is it possible (gasp) that there is some kind of "smoking gun" in the evidence the ICC has garnered, which is going to really make Israel look bad and rotten, should it come to light in the legal process of discovery?!?

The short answer has to be, "HELL, yes!!!", for Netanyahu to be taking such extraordinary steps to shut this investigation down.

Judge Orders US Navy to Review, Release Docs Related to Imploded USS Thresher

The US Navy is expected to make public unclassified documents associated with the 1963 implosion of the USS Thresher (SSN-593), which claimed the lives of nearly 130 individuals and was the catalyst for the service’s Submarine Safety Program (SUBSAFE).

On February 10, US District Judge Trevor McFadden ordered the US Navy to begin releasing unclassified documents on the sinking of the Thresher on April 10, 1963, while the nuclear-powered vessel was conducting deep dive exercises.

According to US Naval Institute News, the service has been ordered to finish a review of 300 documents by April 30 and release them to the public by May 15.
