BBC iPlayer stops working on some Samsung TVs

A software glitch is preventing the BBC's iPlayer streaming service from running on many of Samsung's smart TVs.

Affected owners are being advised to download a software update.

But the patch does not work on some older models, which will have to wait until next year to get a separate fix.

The BBC has said that it expects thousands, but not tens of thousands, of screens to be unable to use its catch-up service over Christmas as a consequence.

Flashback - David Bellamy: 'BBC axed me for rubbishing global warming'

BROADCASTER David Bellamy told yesterday how his television career was cut short by the BBC after he dismissed climate change.

The botanist and environmental campaigner said his scepticism over manmade global warming signalled an end to his screen presence.

Furthermore, all other work dried up, he was shunned by colleagues and vilified by green zealots.

Professor Bellamy said: “Someone even emailed me to say I was ‘the worst paedophile in the world’, basically saying I was killing children by denying global warming.”

Until then, television had appeared to be Bellamy’s natural habitat and he was one of the best-known faces in Britain.

Amazon Ring’s Data Maps Surveillance Network; Jeff Bezos Embraces Fascism with Amazon Military Support

By Aaron Kesel

“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”? Benito Mussolini

Jeff Bezos has embraced fascism, criticizing Silicon Valley for employees of companies like Google who don’t wish to work with the military. Bezos made the comments during a Department Of Defense contractor meetup on Saturday at the Reagan National Defense Forum, Defense One reported.

“One of the things that’s happening inside of technology companies is there are groups of employees who, for example, think technology companies should not work with the Department of Defense,” Jeff Bezos said Saturday at the Reagan National Defense Forum. “People are entitled to their opinions, but it is the job of a senior leadership team to say no,” he said.

“My view is, if big tech is going to turn their back on the Department of Defense, this country is in trouble,” he said. “That just can’t happen.”...

Harvey Weinstein reaches $25m civil court deal with more than 30 sexual assault accusers but he WON'T have to admit wrongdoing nor pay out of his own pocket

Shamed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has reached a tentative $25million settlement with dozens of his alleged sexual misconduct victims – however the former mogul would not have to admit any wrongdoing or pay his accusers out of his own pocket.

Following a two year legal fight, the proposed civil settlement has obtained preliminary approval from all the major parties involved, including the board of Weinstein’s now-bankrupt film studio, the New York Times reported.

The claimants – which include more than 30 actresses and former Weinstein employees that have accused him of numerous sexual offenses including rape – would share the payout equally, along with any other accusers that should come forward in the months ahead.

Congress must investigate why America was lied to about Afghanistan for all these years – Gabbard

Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard pledged to seek a congressional inquiry into the Afghanistan war after a damning report said US officials have been lying about what has been happening there since the US occupation began.

Gabbard, a military veteran who runs for the Democratic nomination on an anti-war platform, said there has to be “accountability for the lying” and the lives and taxpayer money lost in the longest military operation in the US history.

“The cost of this war and regime change wars and the nation-building that follows is immeasurable in many ways but it’s measurable in the ways that have been detailed in that Washington Post report,” she told Hill.TV on Tuesday.

These Reporters All Lied About the Steele Dossier, Carter Page, and FISA Warrants

After the report was released on the Russia collusion investigation, it has become clear that FISA requests were approved by judges based on the Steele dossier -- a report funded for and written by anti-Trump hacks. Over the last few years, however, many journalists denied this to be the case. Oh no, they said time and again, the Steele dossier wasn't (much of) the basis of the FISA request(s) to spy on former Trump adviser Carter Page at all. No sir.

Twitter-user @Techno_Fog was so kind as to collect tweets from those journalists about the matter. To start with: the Washington Post's Shane Harris. On January 12, 2018, Harris wrote: "I am telling you the dossier was not used as the basis for a FISA warrant on Carter Page."

CNN, MSNBC Refuse To Air DOJ Inspector General Hearing Live

Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear from the Department of Justice’s Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, on the findings of his FISA report. After providing months of wall to wall impeachment coverage, CNN and MSNBC decided not to air the full hearings with Horowitz.

CNN and MSNBC stopped following the IG hearing after about 30 minutes, and both refused to cover the opening statements by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. The decision does not align with the recent live hearing coverage standard both networks have held for the last few months, giving endless air time to the impeachment hearings lead by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif, and Rep. Jerry Nadler.

Former first lady Michelle Obama defended her friendship with former President George W. Bush in a new interview with Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush Hager.

Speaking on the Today show on Tuesday, the former first lady, 55, said that while she and Bush, 73, may disagree on matters of politics, they actually have plenty in common — something that's true of most people, she believes.

'Our values are the same. We disagree on policy, but we don't disagree on humanity. We don't disagree about love and compassion,' she said. 'I think that's true for all of us. It's just that we get lost in our fear of what's different.'

Hunter Biden’s ‘baby mama’ wants to know how much he made at Ukrainian energy firm

The amount that Lunden Alexis Roberts is asking Biden, 49, to acknowledge he reaped at the energy firm is redacted in the 47-point request for admissions her lawyers filed in an Arkansas court.

But reports have said Biden was paid as much as $50,000 per month in the position. He sat on the company’s board of directors between April 2014 and April 2019.

Mr Jagadeesh, who was turned down for multiple promotions, stated that he was told by his boss to join a 'group' of gay and bisexual men in the office as only they would get promoted.

What Britain’s election means for Palestine

The fate of the Palestinians, always shoved to the end of the line, has not been an issue with any kind of national profile in the course of this wretched election campaign.

In part, this is simply because as voters in Britain, we naturally have our own pressing domestic concerns – especially the gradual sell-off of the National Health Service.

But in large part it is also down to a four-year long witch hunt over a non-existent “Labour anti-Semitism crisis.”

This has made many sympathetic Labour politicians fearful to even discuss Palestine. They know the Israel lobby will immediately jump down their throats.

On December 9, 1987, the first intifada began in illegally occupied Palestine in response to the assassination of four Palestinians outside the Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza. This fight for freedom has been going on for decades and will not end until Palestine is free. The indignation of the young Palestinians about their hopeless situation has consequently dammed – even after they had long ago noticed that their political leaders did nothing for them, but only appeased and arranged with the occupiers, and more or less under the occupation left their country to their fate. Thus, the desperate Palestinians saw no other possibility than in the refugee camps, in the occupied West Bank and in the annexed East Jerusalem to stand up and fight back.
