‘I now hate my ship’: Surveys reveal disastrous morale on cruiser Shiloh

“It’s only a matter of time before something horrible happens,” one shipmate warned.

“Our sailors do not trust the CO,” another noted.

It’s a “floating prison,” one said.

“I just pray we never have to shoot down a missile from North Korea,” a distraught sailor lamented, “because then our ineffectiveness will really show.”

Frequently in focus is the commanding officer’s micromanagement and a neutered chiefs mess. Aycock was widely feared among sailors who said minor on-the-job mistakes often led to time in the brig, where they would be fed only bread and water.

Press review: Putin's Valdai speech takeaways and Rosneft's Kurdistan oil deals in danger

Political Scientist Gleb Kuznetsov, who is a member of the board of directors at the Expert Institute of Social Studies, told Izvestia that Putin’s speech is "a direct answer to Trump on his ideas of reforming the United Nations"...
On Thursday, Iraq said all agreements on developing oil and gas fields, if they had not been endorsed by Baghdad’s oil ministry, are illegal, Vedomosti writes. On October 18, Russia’s Rosneft announced that it had inked a deal with the government of Iraqi Kurdistan on buying an 80% share in five oil deposits in the region. The deal is worth $400 mln and the reserves at the fields total around 670 mln barrels of oil. http://tass.com/pressreview/971705

Russia has no plans to join treaty on nuclear weapons prohibition — Lavrov

Russia has no intention to join the treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons as it is of destabilizing nature, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the Moscow non-proliferation conference on Friday. "We are concerned over the fact that we are approaching the 2020 review conference under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons with disquieting results so far," the minister noted. "The destructive actions by some states, which have broken the consensus on the draft final document of the previous conference in 2015 have done considerable damage to the viability of the treaty and have prompted a numerous group of countries towards the intensified development of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons that was recently opened for signing," Lavrov said. "We do not intend to join the Treaty on the prohibition of these weapons.

Canada approves anti-Russian law sponsored by Russophobes

Canada has effected its own "Magnitsky Act," which stipulates sanctions against foreign government employees suspected of corruption and human rights violations. On October 19, the document was effected upon receiving a formal sanction from Queen Elizabeth II. Prior to that, the law was passed by the House of Commons, and on Tuesday - by the Senate. Russian Embassy to Canada said that the law, known as S-226, was an irrational law sponsored by a fugitive tax evader and people who hate Russia. Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry earlier expressed disappointment over Canada's move to adopt an analog to the Magnitsky Act. Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, said that the bill would disrupt relations between Moscow and Ottawa. She also said that the document was aimed at imposing sanctions against Russian citizens.

Riots spark in Ukraine again, but people will not die for idiots this time

Is there another Maidan brewing in Ukraine now with the help of former Governor of the Odessa region and exiled President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili? On the one hand, there is a crowd of protesters, there are tents and field kitchens, people demand a change of power again. On the other hand, the number of protesters is too small in comparison with the riots that Kiev saw in the winter of 2013-2014. Today, there are no burning tyres, no Molotov cocktails, and no (thank God) victims. Only three protesters and one police officer were hurt. Mikhail Saakashvili came to Kiev's central square to speak, but he could speak for only 10-15 minutes. Some people in the crowd started shouting: "Saakashvili is our president!" They were obviously paid for that. In his emotional speech, the ex-President of Georgia urged sitting Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to step down.

Flashback: Antidepressant prescriptions in England double in a decade

The number of antidepressants given to patients in England has doubled in a decade, official figures show.

In 2015 there were 61m such drugs prescribed and dispensed outside of hospitals. They are used to treat clinical depression as well as other conditions such as generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and panic attacks.

The total was 31.6m more than in 2005 and up 3.9m, or 6.8% on 2014, according to a report from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).

Flashback: High antidepressant dose linked to self harm in youths

For the study, Miller and colleagues looked at the health records of 162,625 privately insured people ages 10 to 64 treated for depression with three popular antidepressants best known by the brand names Celexa, Prozac and Zoloft.

They compared otherwise similar patients — based on the intensity of their depression symptoms, previous self harm and other factors — who got either typical starting doses or higher doses.

The typical starting doses were 20 mg. a day for Celexa and Prozac and 50 mg. a day for Zoloft.

Result: After a year, children, teens and young adults were twice as likely to engage in deliberate self harm if they started at higher doses. Such acts were especially common in the first three months. No such link between starting dose and self harm was found in adults 25 and up.

'Steep rise' in self-harm among teenage girls

Since 2001, girls have had much higher rates of self-harm than boys - 37.4 per 10,000 compared with 12.3 in boys.

While self-harm rates stayed constant among 10- to 12-year-olds and 17- to 19-year-olds, there was a 68% increase among 13- to 16-year-olds over the three-year period studied.

This took the rate in girls from 45.9 per 10,000 in 2011 to 77 per 10,000 in 2014.

The researchers, from the University of Manchester, looked at data for nearly 17,000 patients from more than 600 GP practices.

When It Comes to Israel Accountability, UN and EU Are All Talk and No Walk

It is welcome news to hear that eight European Union countries are demanding Israel compensate them for the demolition of new school facilities for Bedouin communities in the occupied West Bank. A letter from the eight member states is expected to be delivered to Israel's Foreign Ministry in the coming days. Belgium is said to be leading the move, followed by France, Spain, Sweden, Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland and Denmark. In August, Israel demolished structures intended to serve as classrooms in various Bedouin communities and confiscated solar panels on another structure being used as a school. The regime authorities claimed the buildings were constructed illegally, while Palestinian activists and EU diplomats countered that Israel makes it almost impossible to obtain building permission. The letter, initially reported in France's Le Monde, said the eight countries would demand over €30,000 (£27,000) in compensation if Israel does not return the seized equipment.

The Thwarted Dreams of Kurdistan

Almost a century ago, European powers promised the Kurds a state but soon reneged on the deal, leaving Kurdish nationalists to fume for generations and leading to Iraq’s recent military capture of Kirkuk, reports Lawrence Davidson: It was in 1916, in the midst of World War I, that Britain and France (pitted against the Germans, Austrians and Ottoman Turks) made their infamous Sykes-Picot agreement. In grand imperial style, they used this agreement to divide up the Middle East between them. It was a daring move, considering that the war was at a stalemate and the two allies did not know if they were going to win the struggle. Nonetheless, they went ahead with the agreement and in doing so made a number of decisions that continue to shape the region to this day. Besides bringing traditional European imperialism forward into the Twentieth Century, what made Sykes-Picot infamous was the fact that it broke a significant previous promise made to the Arabs.

Russian parliamentarian says Ukraine owes Russia compensation for Crimea

The Ukrainian authorities should pay compensation to Russia for Crimea which Ukraine had used illegitimately for more than 20 years, a parliamentarian from the Russian State Duma lower house told TASS on Thursday. President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman said on October 10 that Crimea’s reunification with Russia was already an "accomplished fact" and any Ukraine’s attempts to return the Black Sea peninsula would trigger a European war. The Czech leader added that Russia could pay compensation to Ukraine "in financial form or in oil and gas." He said that if Ukraine disagrees, it would mean a "European war." He also criticized Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev’s decision on handing over Crimea to Ukraine in 1954. "Speaking about who owes whom and how much, it is rather Ukraine that should pay Russia for ‘the lease’ of Crimea, as it had used the territory for more than 20 years without sufficient legal grounds," said Andrei Kozenko.

Russian ambassador rebukes US, Israel for ignoring Palestinian problem

Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya leveled sharp criticism at Israel and the US on Friday for ignoring the Palestinian problem in the course of debates on Middle East peace settlement at the UN Security Council. As he took the floor at the meeting, he warned that in the absence of a peace process on the political horizon in the region, a dangerously explosive potential was accumulating there and it could produce an explosion at any moment. Israeli ambassador Danny Danon and US ambassador Nikki Haley bypassed the Palestinian issue in their speeches and concentrated on Iran’s activity instead, accusing it of destabilization in the region. The Israeli diplomat tried on the role of an arbiter by reading out the charges with global support for terrorism, encroachments on human rights, instigation of anti-Semitism, and the aspirations to annihilate Israel that he ascribed to Teheran. After listing these accusations, Danon passed a guilty verdict on Iran.

Putin: US failing to honor commitments for plutonium disposal

Russia has honored all its commitments for plutonium disposal whereas the United States has not fulfilled its part of obligations and is behaving ‘inappropriately,’ Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a final plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday. "Moreover, the US has shifted the deadline for eliminating its chemical weapons from 2007 to as late as 2023. This is inappropriate for a country proclaiming itself as the champion in armaments non-proliferation and control," the Russian president stressed. In Russia, this process was fully completed on September 27, 2017, Putin said.

Maung Zarni: Military-Controlled Ethnocracy in Myanmar Causing Exodus of 100,000 Rohingyas Every Week

The Burmese scholar in an exclusive interview with FNA said that Aung San SuuKyi’s leadership has been the direct product of the icon manufacturing by Western media and activists which was intended to give acceptability to what, he believes, is a “military-controlled ethnocracy, wrapped in Buddhism”.

According to the rights activist, Rohingyas in Myanmar live under restrictive measures of movement, marriage and child control in either open prisons or internally displaced persons camps (IDP camps). He also added that the Muslim minority’s access to food supplies and medical care is awfully limited.

Maung Zarni is a democracy advocate, Rohingya campaigner, and an adviser to European Centre for the Study of Extremism. He is also a research fellow at Genocide Documentation Centre and has been frequently interviewed by international media outlets such as BBC, Al Jazeera, Press TV and TRT World.

In a Thursday statement, the IRGC stressed the Guards’ resolve to defend the Iranian nation’s security and emphasized that it will not waver in its resolve to stand against the global “hegemonic system” and “the vicious network of international Zionism.”

The elite Iranian force further stressed that the Islamic Republic’s regional influence and missile program, which came to fruition under tough sanctions, will incessantly continue to expand.

The IRGC statement slammed the “rogue” and “lightheaded” president of the US, Donald Trump, for insulting the Iranian nation and paving the way for cruel sanctions against Iran’s Guards in his mid-October speech.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Look, if you had a powerful foreign leader PUBLICLY threaten your country at the UN with the possibility of a war and national extinction against your people, wouldn't you take the precise same steps as Iran and North Korea are doing?!?

Logic says, HELL YES!!

Unfortunately, these statements from the IRGC are going to play right into Trump's and Netanyahu's plans to further demonize Iran, as a prelude to a war against it.

But Americans had better wake up to the stark reality that the costs of this war, which may well include war with Russia, whose leadership have long pledged military support of Iran should it be attacked, will only be paid in American blood and American money.

Bombshell: Longtime Clinton Friend Admits ‘Warning’ Top-Level Democrats About Weinstein

Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, the creator of the iconic 90s sitcom Designing Women and a close friend for decades of Bill and Hillary Clinton, admits that she not only knew of producer Harvey Weinstein’s predations, but that she warned “top-level” Democrats about him.
Buried deep within a Hollywood Reporter guest column, Bloodworth-Thomason drops this bombshell (with a deflecting shot at Fox News): “I confess to having had no problem warning at least three top-level Democratic operatives against allowing Harvey Weinstein to host political fundraisers. A warning that evidently (and to the glee of Fox News) fell on deaf ears.”

She also says she was a member of “a ‘Let’s Bring Harvey Weinstein Down’ lunch club” and appears to express some disbelief towards those who, “despite knowing him for decades,” now “announce they had no idea what was going on.”

To this, she writes, “OK. Whatever.”

Shake-Up at Democratic National Committee, Longtime Officials Ousted

A shake-up is underway at the Democratic National Committee as several key longtime officials have lost their posts, exposing a still-raw rift in the party and igniting anger among those in its progressive wing who see retaliation for their opposition to DNC Chairman Tom Perez.

The ousters come ahead of the DNC's first meeting, in Las Vegas, Nevada, since Perez took over as chairman with a pledge this year to unite a party that had become badly divided during the brutal Bernie Sanders-Hillary Clinton 2016 primary race.

Complaints began immediately after party officials saw a list of Perez's appointments to DNC committees and his roster of 75 "at-large" members, who are chosen by the chair.

Attorney: FBI Informant Was Blocked by Obama Administration from Testifying on Uranium One Deal

Attorney Victoria Toensing, a former Reagan Justice Department official and former chief counsel of the Senate intelligence committee, told The Hill that she is trying to get the Trump administration or the FBI to free her client to talk.

“All of the information about this corruption has not come out,” Toensing said.

She said her client possesses “specific allegations that Russian executives made to him about how they facilitated the Obama administration’s 2010 approval of the Uranium One deal and sent millions of dollars in Russian nuclear funds to the U.S. to an entity assisting Bill Clinton’s foundation.”

At the time, Hillary Clinton was secretary of state and serving on the government panel that approved the deal, the lawyer said. Bill Clinton accepted $500,000 Russian speaking fees in 2010 and collected millions more in donations from parties with a stake in the Uranium One deal. The Clintons and the Obama administration have denied that had any influence on the deal.

WTH? Attorney General Sessions Says Rosenstein Can Investigate HIMSELF in Uranium One Criminal Probe (Video)

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is compromised.
He has to be.

Deep State has something on him and the Attorney General is acting irrationally.

How else to you explain his outrageous behavior to defend the criminal actions of Hillary Clinton and the Barack Obama regime?

On Tuesday John Solomon writing for The Hill reported that the FBI uncovered Russian bribery of the Clintons in 2009 and the Department of Justice and the FBI sat on this for four more years.

Worse yet, from today’s report we discovered the investigation was supervised by then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, who is now President Trump’s Deputy Attorney General, and then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who is now the deputy FBI director under Trump.

Rosenstein and Mueller also sat on the CFIUS committee that approved the sale of 20% of US uranium reserves to Russia despite knowing Russia had bribed the Clintons for the illicit sale.

This further tarnishes this respected organization’s good name.

Liberals Look the Other Way as More Cases of Voter Fraud Pile Up

The Heritage Foundation added another round of cases this week to its ever-growing Voter Fraud Database.

Accounting for these new additions, the database now documents 1,088 proven instances of election fraud, including 949 cases that have resulted in criminal convictions, 48 that have ended in civil penalties, and 75 that have seen defendants enter diversion programs.

Americans should be alarmed, not only because Heritage has compiled so many examples of fraud—impacting nearly every state and elections for all levels of government—but because this figure is likely just the tip of the iceberg.

FBI Informant "Threatened" After Offering Details Linking Clinton Foundation To Russian Bribery Case

While the mainstream media has largely ignored it, the scandal surrounding Russian efforts to acquire 20% of America's uranium reserves, a deal which was ultimately approved by the Obama administration, and more specifically the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) which included Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder, is becoming more problematic for Democrats by the hour.

As The Hill pointed out earlier this morning, the latest development in this sordid tale revolves around a man that the FBI used as an informant back in 2009 and beyond to build a case against a Russian perpetrator who ultimately admitted to bribery, extortion and money laundering. The informant, who is so far only known as "Confidential Source 1," says that when he attempted to come forward last year with information that linked the Clinton Foundation directly to the scandal he was promptly silenced by the FBI and the Obama administration.

Barzani's Failed Kurdistan Project: A Deathblow To The Partition Of Iraq And Syria

The project to divide Iraq was dealt a deathblow by a decision of the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi to send the Army and the security forces to recover all Iraqi territories controlled by the Kurds of Massoud Barzani. The Kurdish leader was riding the horse of Iraqi partition (in fact, a lame horse) to establish a Kurdish state in the northern part of the country. Following the failure of Barzani’s project in taking advantage of the fight against ISIS and therefore declaring his “state”, every country in the Middle East is abandoning him because no one likes to be associated with failure.

Barzani sent envoys (I personally met some) around the globe who returned with apparently promising results: “over 80 countries promised to recognise the new State of Kurdistan”. These promises turned out to be false (“no friends but the mountains”), other (existing) political alliances turned out to be stronger and Barzani was left alone with his empty promises and unreliable advisers.

Catalan Leader Vows To Declare Independence If Spain Triggers "Nuclear Option"

The Spanish government crackdown on Catalan separatists has intensified this week, with a judge jailing two of the movements leaders and the country’s constitutional court officially declaring the region’s Oct. 1 referendum to be illegal. However, after confusing the Spanish government with his independence (non) declaration, regional leader Carles Puigdemont is refusing to back down ahead of tomorrow's second, and final, Spanish ultimatum.

According to Reuters, Puigdemont told a meeting of his party on Wednesday he would formally declare independence Thursday morning if Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy follows through with his threat to invoke the so-called "nuclear option" of Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, and suspend Catalonia’s regional autonomy - a decision that would likely lead to the arrest of Puigdemont and his government, followed by another violent crackdown on separatists.

Former Spy: CIA Will Ensure US Public Never Knows Torture Program’s ‘Full Scope’

The US Central Intelligence Agency “has done everything in its power, legal and illegal, to stop the American people from learning about the CIA’s torture program,” CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou told Loud & Clear on Radio Sputnik Wednesday.

The full 6,700 page CIA report on torture was believed to have been destroyed, or so the agency said for months, until its acting inspector general, Christopher Sharpley, revealed Tuesday that in fact the report had not been shredded.

ISIS in Afghanistan is US tool to cause trouble in whole region – ex-Afghan President Karzai to RT

The US uses the Islamic State insurgency as a tool in Afghanistan, aimed at destabilizing the whole region, the former Afghan president told RT, urging the international community to convince the US that it needs to actually fight terrorism.

No action was taken against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists despite their atrocious acts being well known “since the arrival of Daesh [an Arabic acronym for IS] on the Afghan scene,” former President Hamid Karzai said. He then mentioned reports of “unmarked foreign helicopters” providing support to the terrorists.

Trump: Russian Uranium Deal "Is The Biggest Story That Fake Media Doesn't Want To Follow"

Recall that on Wednesday it was reported that the Senate Judiciary Committee launched a full-scale probe into a Russian nuclear bribery case, demanding several federal agencies disclose whether they knew the FBI had uncovered the corruption before the Obama administration in 2010 approved a controversial uranium deal with Moscow. Sen. Chuck Grassley, the committee chairman, gets his first chance to raise the issue in public on Wednesday when he questions Attorney General Jeff Sessions during an oversight hearing.

"It has recently come to the Committee’s attention that employees of Rosatom were involved in a criminal enterprise involving a conspiracy to commit extortion and money laundering during the time of the CFIUS transaction," Grassley wrote in one such letter addressed to Sessions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

the independent Media was way out in front on this story that now the presstitute corpoprate media is, reluctantly, forced to cover.

Yes, there has been collusion with the Russians; then-Secretary Clinton made it happen, courtesy of a nice Russian financial greasing of her palm!!

BofA Lists 10 Triggers For The Next Crash: "It's Coming Between Thanksgiving And Valentine's Day"

Back in mid-July, BofA's chief investment strategist Michael Hartnett predicted that the "most dangerous moment for market will come in 3 or 4 months." Well, we are now "between 3 and 4" months since that particular forecast was made, and the "most dangerous moment" we have experienced since, ironically, has been today's modest selloff on the 30 year anniversary of Black Monday. So looking back at his forecast, has Hartnett thrown in the towel on calls for a correction, and joined all the other BTFDers? Not quite: instead, Hartnett's thesis has merely shifted, and he now contends that having entered the market's melt up somewhat late, a bubble which as shown before has unleashed raging purchases of tech stocks and credit, especially junk bonds.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF Harknett's analysis proves true... watch for the next major wars to be generated by the United States government to begin in approximately this same time frame also.

We're just about 6 weeks away from Thanksgiving right now........

US Warns Its Citizens of Security Situation in Iraq

The US embassy in Iraq advises its citizens to maintain a “heightened sense” of security awareness and take the necessary measures to enhance their personal security.

The military incursion of the Iranian-backed militias of Hashd al-Shaabi into Kirkuk Province further destabilized the stability of the country and large exodus of people were displaced.

The US embassy said that the security situation is currently stable, but it is yet volatile. Therefore the embassy calls on US citizens in Iraq to remain vigilant about their security situation.

“The security situation is currently stable but could quickly change,” said the US embassy in a statement on Thursday.
