Kissinger threatens Regime Change in Iran if coup fails..

" I am sure that Americans would favour the emergence from the present situation of a truly popularly based government and it is very appropriate for the president to make clear that that is what he favours. Now if it turns out that it is not possible for a government to emerge in Iran that can deal with itself as a nation rather than as a cause then we have a different situation, then we may conclude that we must work for regime change in Iran from the outside."

Confidential memo reveals US plan to provoke an invasion of Iraq

A confidential record of a meeting between President Bush and Tony Blair before the invasion of Iraq, outlining their intention to go to war without a second United Nations resolution, will be an explosive issue for the official inquiry into the UK's role in toppling Saddam Hussein.

The memo, written on 31 January 2003, almost two months before the invasion and seen by the Observer, confirms that as the two men became increasingly aware UN inspectors would fail to find weapons of mass destruction (WMD) they had to contemplate alternative scenarios that might trigger a second resolution legitimising military action.

Settlers torch tent with Palestinians inside near Hebron

Three Palestinians from a small hamlet near Yatta, south of Hebron, on Sunday narrowly escaped death after Israeli settlers set fire to a tent while they were inside.

Local residents told Ma’an that Israeli settlers from the nearby Susia settlement, which sits on Palestinian land, set fire to a large tent used as a meeting hall for the small village.

Jingo Me Another War, I'm Tired of the Old One

After being victims of multiple false and propagandistic media campaigns one would think that we would be able to read between the lines when our mainstream media sources act in lockstep with one another in marketing the agenda du jour.

Have we already forgotten the “flowers and candy” which the gracious Iraqi people were going to greet us with? You know, as “Liberators.” The weapons of mass destruction? The fear campaign waged against us to surrender our national treasure to a few Wall Street firms? When the mainstream media moves together in uniform, repeating the same talking points, it’s time to get suspicious, not complacent.

Amateur video shows tear gas fired in Tehran protest

Iranian police have used water cannon, batons, tear gas and live rounds to break up protests over the presidential election, witnesses in Tehran say.

A BBC reporter said he saw one man shot and others injured amid running fights.

Defeated candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi repeated calls for the election to be annulled on the grounds it was rigged.

US President Barack Obama urged Iran's government "to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people", saying the "world is watching".

At least five people have been killed in Pakistan's South Waziristan region in suspected US drone attacks on alleged hideouts of anti-government fighters.
Officials said that at least three missiles were fired on Thursday in two separate areas in the region known as a stronghold of al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters.
"Three missiles struck a training camp run by a local militant commander, Malang Wazir," an intelligence official, who asked not to be identified, said.

Another security official, citing witnesses, said five people had been killed in the same strike.
The second attack was in a separate village but neither of the officials had details of any casualties.

CIA has Distributed 400 Million Dollars Inside Iran to Evoke a Revolution

Former Pakistani Army General Mirza Aslam Beig claims the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has distributed 400 million dollars inside Iran to evoke a revolution.

In a phone interview with the Pashto Radio on Monday, General Beig said that there is undisputed intelligence proving the US interference in Iran.

“The documents prove that the CIA spent 400 million dollars inside Iran to prop up a colorful-hollow revolution following the election,” he added.

Pakistan’s former army chief of joint staff went on to say that the US wanted to disturb the situation in Iran and bring

The key issue for any inquiry would be why Khan, 30, who had been photographed, followed and bugged by surveillance officers because of his links with known terrorists, was left free to carry out the attacks.

Iran finds US-backed MKO fingermarks in riots

The group masterminded a slew of terrorist operations in Iran and Iraq -- one of which was the 1981 bombing of the offices of the Islamic Republic Party, in which more than 72 Iranian officials were killed.
A 2007 German intelligence report from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has identified the MKO as a "repressive, sect-like and Stalinist authoritarian organization which centers around the personality cult of [MKO leaders] Maryam and Masoud Rajavi"....
A May 2005 Human Rights Watch report also condemns the MKO for running prison camps in Iraq and committing human rights violations. According to report, the outlawed group puts defectors under torture and jail terms.

Leave Iran Alone!

I rise in reluctant opposition to H Res 560, which condemns the Iranian government for its recent actions during the unrest in that country. While I never condone violence, much less the violence that governments are only too willing to mete out to their own citizens, I am always very cautious about “condemning” the actions of governments overseas. As an elected member of the United States House of Representatives, I have always questioned our constitutional authority to sit in judgment of the actions of foreign governments of which we are not representatives. I have always hesitated when my colleagues rush to pronounce final judgment on events thousands of miles away about which we know very little. And we know very little beyond limited press reports about what is happening in Iran.

Are the Iranian Protests Another US Orchestrated "Color Revolution?"

Commentators are "explaining" the Iran elections based on their own illusions, delusions, emotions, and vested interests. Whether or not the poll results predicting Ahmadinejad's win are sound, there is, so far, no evidence beyond surmise that the election was stolen. However, there are credible reports that the CIA has been working for two years to destabilize the Iranian government:

On May 23, 2007, Brian Ross and Richard Esposito reported on ABC News: “The CIA has received secret presidential approval to mount a covert “black” operation to destabilize the Iranian government, current and former officials in the intelligence community tell ABC News.”

What happened? Did he start unprovoked wars? Did he steal the land of others? Did he lock people up in a cage and then slaughter them? Did he preside over great human suffering? Obama, the Right and defendants' rights

On Thursday, the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision (.pdf), ruled that convicted criminals have no constitutional right to access the state's evidence in order to subject it to DNA tests which could prove their innocence. Two lower courts, a district court and the Ninth Circuit, had ruled there was such a right. In reversing those rulings, the Court's
majority was composed of its conservative Justices (Roberts (who wrote the opinion), Scalia, Alito, Thomas, and Kennedy).

Numerous liberal commentators are, rightfully, infuriated by the decision, but have been notably incomplete in their critiques.
There's one important fact missing from all of that analysis: namely, this was yet another case where the Obama DOJ sided with the Bush administration and advocated the position that the conservative justices adopted.

(*As a state senator, Obama sponsored and lobbied for legislation that gave all inmates a post-conviction right to DNA evidence )

That it has done this, however obliquely, is amusing enough. But it has done this without a hint or nod by the Obama administration as to the provenance of their latest fear in refusing to release notes from Patrick Fitzgerald's interview of Dick Cheney during the Plame investigation

“We Should Be Ashamed”

There used to be a time when sympathy for the underdog was a trait publicized as well as valued by most Americans. And this was to a degree influential in the behavior, actions, demonstrations of those who valued the ideal of equal justice and opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, class or color. Justice for all, regardless of whether they lived in the South, in Nazi occupied Europe or behind the Iron Curtain.

What will be the results, long term, upon us, citizens of these United States, when those who have grown accustomed to torturing those, overseas, who an unkind Fate has placed in their power, return to civilian life and fill positions of trust in law enforcement? Do those who say torture is justified care to think that far ahead? What was considered fine and proper for a suspect of terror, overseas, may well be on the way to be considered par for the course for Americans accused of the slightest crimes.

The American Revolution began in a dispute over gun control when British Redcoats marched toward Lexington and Concord to disarm farmers there. London claimed to be the "legitimate" government ruling America, just as Washington or Sacremento or Albany claims to be today. And their attempt to disarm us, stems from the same power lust that drove King George. We must, therefore, hold onto our guns--legally or illegally--for the very same reason the colonists did.

2. Each had extremely high number of Tweets since creating their profiles.
3. “IranElection” was each of their most popular keyword
4. With some very small exceptions, each were posting in ENGLISH.
5. Half of them had the exact same profile photo
6. Each had thousands of followers, with only a few friends. Most of their friends were EACH OTHER.

New Revelations About The Torture Of Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi

Since the story first emerged last month that Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi (whose real name was Ali Abdul Hamid al-Fakheri) had died in a Libyan prison, speculation has been rife that the Libyan newspaper Oea, which claimed that he had died by committing suicide, was covering up the fact that he had actually been murdered.

Once the Bush administration?s most famous "ghost prisoner," al-Libi had been the emir of the Khaldan training camp in Afghanistan, but his notoriety stemmed not from his own activities, but from the fact that, after his capture in December 2001, he was rendered by the CIA to Egypt, where, under torture, he made a false confession that two al-Qaeda operatives had been receiving information from Saddam Hussein about the use of chemical and biological weapons, which was subsequently used to justify the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reason for the government's justification of the invasion of Iraq was a lie based on a confession coerced under torture.

This was the stunt the American government pulled to get a war going in Iraq.

I have to wonder just how long it's going to take the American people to wake up, and just what form their rage will take when they finally comprehend what has been done in their names, with the blood of their families, and their tax dollars to the Iraqi people, all based on a lie from a tortured confession.

Iraq's refugees; the region's largest displacement crisis goes on

Some 2 million Iraqi refugees across the Middle East will spend a fifth World Refugee Day far from home and even further from any prospect of return or a better life as their needs and rights continue to go largely unaddressed.

'Exposure to violence, instability and disrupted education characterise the childhoods of many of Iraq's refugee children, some of whom can no longer call Iraq home because of what they experienced there', says Siobhan Kimmerle, Programme Director for World Vision in Jordan. 'We must not turn our backs to their needs, which require long term interventions', she added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Like our wounded vets who came back home to little or no real care, these Iraqi refugees were and are completely expendable to the US government.

The only thing that mattered was the control of the country, and control of the oil, and neither objective has truly been reached.

It will be very interesting in the next couple of weeks to see what companies actually receive development contracts for Iraq's oil, and I would almost be willing to bet that none of them will be US based companies.

Are You Ready For War With Demonized Iran?

What is the source of the information for the US media and the American puppet states?

Nothing but the assertions of the defeated candidate, the one America prefers.

The poll results, the only real information we have at this time, indicate that the election results reflect the will of the Iranian voters.

With the help of Mousavi, the US government is creating another "oppressed people," like Iraqis under Saddam Hussein, who require American blood and treasure to liberate. Has Mousavi, the American candidate in the Iranian election who was roundly trounced, been chosen by Washington to become the American puppet ruler of Iran?

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am sure there were champagne toasts in the halls of power in Tel Aviv and in the halls of power for Washington's neo-cons when it became obvious that Ahmedinejad clearly won the election.

Netanyahu gave Obama an ultimatum on Iran when he met in Washington. Obama has until the end of 2009 to "stop the Iranian's nuclear program...or else."

That "or else" may well take the form of an Israeli attack on Iran, into which the US will inevitably get dragged.

Pentagon Deploys Experimental Missile Shield to Hawaii

First came the attempted launch in April. Then, last month, Pyongyang detonated a test nuclear device, which may or may not have worked as planned. Now the Norks are threatening to launch another Taepodong-2 missile, with a 4,000-mile range, towards Hawaii — and Gates is pulling out all the stops, to prepare for an intercept.

That means sending Army Terminal High-Altitude Air Defense missile systems, still in development, to the islands, and deploying the SBX radar. Joint Chiefs vice chairman General James Cartwright said he was “90-plus percent” sure the U.S. could intercept a Nork missile, in the unlikely event it overflew U.S. territory.

Webmaster's Commentary:

THAAD and SBX, are problematic and non-robust systems, in terms of their design and testing histories.

But then, they're primarily for show in this escalating war of words.

The type of missile North Korea is looking to launch doesn't have the range to hit Hawaii, and has had a bad track record in terms of staging issues.

And even if these missiles were capable of hitting Hawaii, there is one certainty here: Kim Jong-Il and his military are many things, but they are not stupid. They would not do something which would have the guaranteed result of their country turned into molten shards of green glass by a US counter-strike.

One has to wonder what mechanisms are in place to assure that this aid goes where it is supposed to go, and isn't just a humongous bribe for Pakistani civilian and military leaders to pocket for doing precisely what the US dictates they do?

Pakistan's offensive opens new forum for militants: refugee camps

Clearing out Islamic hard-liners is tough enough on the battlefield. Yet even as Pakistan's Army wraps up operations to clear the Taliban from Swat Valley, religious groups with militant ties or sympathies have set up shop among the war's refugees – and are winning popular support with their truckloads of aid.

Among the organizations providing relief is the Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), the charity wing of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the banned militant group blamed for last November's Mumbai (Bombay) attacks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The irony here is sadly amazing.

The militants' charities and other Islamic charities can get food and supplies into the camps, where the Pakistani military and government agencies cannot or will not.

The refugees are entirely right in understanding that it is the government's policies which have lead to their dire circumstances.
What sane human being couldn't blame them for their fury at the Pakistani government's having attacked, killed, and maimed many of its own people who were not militants?!?

Obama Administration Looks to Colleges for Future Spies

The Obama administration has proposed the creation of an intelligence officer training program in colleges and universities that would function much like the Reserve Officers' Training Corps run by the military services. The idea is to create a stream "of first- and second-generation Americans, who already have critical language and cultural knowledge, and prepare them for careers in the intelligence agencies," according to a description sent to Congress by Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are rapidly devolving into a society where "thought crime" is any logical disagreement with any policy or position this government may take, and that is chilling in the extreme.

23-year-old journalist Sameh Habeeb is looking for a way to tell the world. But it is not easy: the power remains out in most of the strip, and as he searches Gaza City for somewhere to connect to the internet – often his only link to life outside Gaza – bombs fall around him.

When he finally manages to transmit his daily reports over a slow and unreliable dial-up internet connection, his words are picked up by friends and readers waiting to hear the updates, but more importantly, waiting to see if he has made it through the night. From his blog – Gaza Strip, the Untold Story – and his Facebook page, his words spread like wildfire throughout the internet:

Do We Really Care About Democracy? #IranElection

Israel’s attempt to legislate loyalty to the Jewish state is proof of the failure of the Zionist/colonial project of Israelification, writes Azmi Bishara

Jun 20 08:24

On Sunday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech that — by categorically ruling out the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state — ought to have been seen as a mortal blow to the quest for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

On Monday morning, however, newspaper headlines across the United States announced that Netanyahu had endorsed the creation of a Palestinian state, and the White House welcomed the speech as “an important step forward.”

Reality can be so easily stood on its head when it comes to Israel because the misreading of Israeli declarations is a long-established practice among commentators and journalists in the United States.

Wag The Dog–Israel Threatens “Punishment” Against the US

Similar in appearance to some KGB-produced indictment that in darker times would have been used in charging, convicting and then executing an individual classified as an enemy of the state, the 11-page letter written and then personally given to Netanyahu by his colleague asserts that the new America governed by President Obama has now become “hostile” to the Jewish state.

For tortured detainees, U.S. considered life sentences on boats

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, along with "enhanced" interrogation (waterboarding), there were two other classifications, "Robust" and "Special." These supposedly employed even more severe techniques of which the American people are still unaware. But clues to the meanings of "Robust" and "special" lie in reports of released prisoners whose testicles have been completely destroyed, as well as Binjam Mohammed, whose genitals were repeatedly sliced with a knife over a period of many weeks.

The plan to keep the rest of the detainees on boats is not a plan to keep the prisoner but to keep them unseen by the public and the press. Clearly they bear scars which the US Government wants hidden.

U.S. Govt. Threatens to Prosecute Waterboarding

We've been lobbying the Department of Justice all these months without realizing that the key to justice lay in the Department of the Interior, and specifically in the National Park Service, which has told activist Steve Lane he will be prosecuted if he attempts to demonstrate waterboarding at Thursday's anti-torture rally in Washington, D.C. The permit for the rally reads "Waterboarding exhibit will not be allowed for safety reasons."

Beijing toys with tougher tactics

Apart from anger at Pyongyang's disobedience - and fears that its nuke program could endanger China - Beijing is worried that the latest development would hand a pretext to countries including South Korea and Japan to procure or produce more sophisticated weapons. Former senior director of the US National Security Council Dennis Wilder pointed out that Kim's nuclearization gambit could be "a game-changer in Northeast Asia security dynamics".

Israel Accuses ElBaradei of ‘Bias’

So, ElBaradei had written the Israelis a letter, requesting specifically whether Israeli munitions could have been the source of the "natural uranium" they found at the facility they destroyed.

No answer from the Israelis by report time to ElBaradei’s request.

So, in his latest report ElBaradei again "equally" calls upon Israel to "cooperate" in the IAEA investigation in "establishing the facts and making progress in its [NPT] verification mandate."

Distorting US Intel On Iran: Obama Follows Bush’s Lead, Again

Any intervention by the U.S. government on behalf of the Iranian opposition is destined to backfire given the role it played in overthrowing Iran’s last truly democratically elected prime minister and its subsequent support for the brutal dictatorial reign of the shah, a reality President Obama appears to be mercifully aware of in rejecting self-righteous calls from the likes of John McCain for him to show greater "solidarity" with the Twitter-savvy protesters. Still, while Obama’s generally calm and considered response to the Iranian election is appreciated, it would be nice if he could refrain from repeating unsubstantiated accusations about an active Iranian nuclear weapons program his own Director of National Intelligence says doesn’t exist.

Between the lines of Netanyahu’s speech

If you can bear the full windbag, here he is. The outcome of it comes quicker via Reuters’ Abbas aid urges world shun Netanyahu over speech. The headline was President Mahmoud Abbas’ response to Netanyahu, who wants to establish a demilitarized Palestinian state, and with certain conditions no less. Are the Israelis demilitarizing? I don’t think so. They will remain America’s Mid-East Super-heroes, ready, willing and able to either bomb Iran or finish off the Palestinians if they don’t listen.

Ramses II was King Solomon

There is in fact substantial evidence - acknowledged but ignored by the mainstreamers - that the early years of rule of Ramses II were a coregency with Sethos (King David), whose daughter he married (as Solomon also married the daughter of the pharaoh). Is it not remarkable that a Jewish king is marrying into the royal "Egyptian" Pharaonic family, which allegedly was not Jewish - come on, what nonsense is that? The scholars are clueless.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is consistent with Sigmund Freud's theory that Moses was actually the banished monotheistic Pharaoh Akhenaten, based on the obvious problems with the traditional story.

1. Could or would an Egyptian princess hide a Hebrew baby in Pharaoh's household?

2. "Moses" is not the Hebrew word for "to draw out." The Hebrew for "To draw out" is "Mushui". "Moses" is an Egyptian word meaning "Prince" and is found incorporated into many Pharaoh's names. Ahmoses, Tutmoses, etc. And again, why would an Egyptian Princess trying to hide a Hebrew baby in Pharaoh's household give the child a Hebrew name.

Then there is the actual archaeological evidence to suggest that the story of the Exodus did not happen to the Hebrews, but to the Hyksos.

Given the amount of propaganda and deception we have seen just in the last few years, together with Ramses II's own lie about Kadesh still carved in the stones of the Temples of Egypt, and the bible's numerous acknowledged factual errors, mistranslations, and alterations through history, and it may well be that we know very little of the true history of ancient times, being on the receiving end of thousands of years of a chain of self serving propaganda and spin.

Opinion: This Is Zionism?

Then a band launched into a rousing rendition of Am Yisrael Chai. I spent more than 25 years as an activist for Soviet Jewry. This was our theme song signaling solidarity both with the history of our people and with all those oppressed Jews in the world whose cause we championed. A group of young men in their 20's with kippot and tziztzit were right in front of me dancing in a frenzy. But they alternated the verse that meant "the people of Israel lives" with "all the Arabs must die." It rhymed with the Hebrew. Given the way all joined in, it was clear that this was not the first time it was sung.

The Retreat of the Shadow Lenders: Why Deflation and Not Inflation Is the Order of the Day

The retreat of the shadow lenders has created a credit freeze globally; and when credit shrinks, the money supply shrinks with it. That means there is insufficient money to buy goods, so workers get laid off and factories get shut down, perpetuating a vicious spiral of economic collapse and depression. To reverse that cycle, credit needs to be restored; and when the banks can’t do it, the Fed needs to step in and start “monetizing” debt.

An Unlikely Discussion on Common Sense and Roses

Competitors who risked their depositors' monies by accepting troubled assets are now rationalizing their poor financials by blaming them on the economy, the global financial crisis, tax rates and the national financial slump. They are forced to accept government bailout money to dress up those troubled assets on their balance sheets. Rather than admit that they accepted bailout money under the 'Troubled Asset Relief Program,' they call it a Capital Purchase Program. Our common sense tells us that a rose by any other name is still a rose and their troubled assets are still troubled.

New crisis in Swat valley as residents run out of food

The government says that total victory is imminent. But military success has come at a human price. More than one million people have fled Swat, according to revised government figures. And inside the valley, hidden from the world, a second crisis is brewing.

"The fields cannot hold them any longer. We have to do it now," said Muhammad Sher, a squat man in a white turban who wrenched onions from his riverside plot. His 23-year-old nephew, Razaullah, lifted his shirt to reveal a shoulder wound.

Moves away from safe havens hit dollar

The dollar drifted lower Friday as investors showed more confidence in world economic prospects, moving away from the safe-haven US currency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the writer of this story characterizes the dollar as "....safe-haven US currency" appears, given the current state of the US economy, to be a very odd way to describe the status of the US dollar.

This is particularly strange in light of the fact that so many countries are getting out of their dollar reserves right now.

Where was the Temple of Herod?

The Temple was not located on the high spot currently occupied by the Dome of the Rock. The Dome was built on the most imposing location, the situation of the former Strato's Tower, a pagan place of worship. It incorporated the eight-sided design of Astoreth's place of worship into its architecture, a feature of the Dome that is unique in Islamic architecture. The actual location of the Temple was to the south of the Dome of the Rock at the approximate location of the Al Kas fountain which is north of the current location of the El Aksa mosque at the south end of the current Temple Mount. This places the Temple directly to the west of the Western Wall (a.k.a. Wailing Wall).

Mossad still stalking malls for U.S. military personnel

Mossad still stalking malls near U.S. military bases
By Wayne Madsen
Jun 19, 2009, 00:18
(WMR) -- Cells of young Israeli intelligence operatives continue to openly solicit relationships with U.S. military personnel from shopping mall kiosks, according to an informed source.
WMR has learned that one such kiosk operates at the MacArthur Center Mall in Norfolk, Virginia, where a number of U.S. Navy personnel from the nearby naval bases are regularly confronted by aggressive young Israelis selling Dead Sea cosmetic products who inquire about where the personnel are stationed and the nature of their jobs. Young Israeli women working at the kiosk also appear to want to strike up a closer relationship with some of the naval personnel.
