Robert De Niro Bashes Trump Again: ‘Down With This Motherf—er!’

Robert De Niro may have been the target of the Donald Trump-supporting pipe bomb mailer, but that isn’t stopping the Oscar winner from trashing the president.

Just two days after playing Robert Mueller again on “Saturday Night Live,” De Niro zinged the commander-in-chief with more verbal zingers.

In presenting Billy Crystal with the Friars Club’s entertainment icon award on Monday night in New York City, De Niro first shouted, “F— Crystal!” as a wink to his condemnation of Trump at the Tony Awards earlier this year. “I just get so upset with that jerkoff in the White House,” he said, drawing boos from the crowd. “Boo is right! Down with this motherf—er!”

California's devastation from the air: Drone footage and aerial photos show full horror of the state's wildfires - including town of Paradise that was completely wiped out by the blaze

Home after home completely leveled, cars all burned to a crisp, everything in site either gray rubble or black ash.

This is the horrific portrait of devastation captured by new drone footage in Paradise, the Northern California town that was completely wiped out by the Camp Fire.

The Camp Fire is now the deadliest and most destructive fire in the state's history, killing at least 48 people and destroying more than 6,500 homes and 260 buildings as it burned through more than 160,000 acres.

After six days, the blaze only remains 35 percent contained and more than 200 people are still missing.

The new drone footage, obtained by ABC10, shows all that is left in Paradise, which was consumed so quickly by the Camp Fire that many victims didn't even have time to start their cars. Some bodies were found laying next to vehicles.

Pence: "All-Out Cold War" Coming If China Doesn't Change Course; "We Won't Back Down"

The Washington Post's Josh Rogin has revealed stunning comments issued by Vice President Mike Pence during a conversation between the two aboard Air Force Two as the VP traveled for an official trip to Asia this week, where he landed in Singapore for regional summits highlighting Indo-Pacific security, trade and investment.

Pence reportedly said the White House is prepared to undertake take dramatic policy changes regarding China if Beijing does not capitulate to its demands as the trade war continues. In addition to the issue of tariffs, pressing security issues include the US demanding Chinese cessation of what's reported to be widespread intellectual property theft and refusal to recognized America freedom of navigation through and above the South China Sea.

According to Rogin, Pence went so far as to speak of "an all-out Cold War" during the interview, promising that:

SoCal Fire May Have Ejected "Incredibly Dangerous" Radioactive Particles Into The Atmosphere

he 95,000 acre Woolsey fire which has coated Southern California with an apocalyptic orange glow may have released a toxic stew of radioactive particles and toxic chemicals into the air, after scorching the land on closed-down government weapons testing facility in Simi Hills known to be heavily contaminated from decades of experiments.

Commencing operation in 1947 for Rockwell's Rocketdyne Division, a government contractor for the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), the Santa Susana Field Lab (SSFL) has a checkered safety record, to put it lightly. In addition to several nuclear accidents - including the worst nuclear meltdown in US history, toxic materials have accumulated on-site from years of dumping, just miles from thousands of residents.

Webmaster's Commentary:

just like Fukushima, which was initially characterized as "not a danger to civilians living close to it.

These California officials understand that when the truth comes out, after a number of people get cancer due to exposure to these materials, there will be waves and waves of class-action lawsuits against the State, and the utility company which allowed faulty power lines not to be repaired.

Bolton Vows to ‘Squeeze’ Iran, Escalating Sanctions

With the newly reimposed US sanctions against Iran having little to no perceivable economic impact, national security adviser John Bolton is talking up his plans to continue to escalate the sanctions track, saying he will “squeeze Iran until the pips squeak.”

Bolton shrugged off the reality that Iran is still doing business internationally, saying that he believes Iran is “under real pressure” from the sanctions, and that he’s determined to see it keep getting worse.

Bolton went on to predict that the European efforts to keep trading with Iran would ultimately fail. He said the Europeans are going through the six stages of grief, and would ultimately lead to European acceptance of the US demands.

With sa growing number of countries ignoring the sanctions outright, what does Bolton think the US should do with all the countries still trading outright, declare war on them?!?

US Discusses Suspending Afghan Presidential Election

They’ve been profoundly corrupt and often meant little, but Afghanistan’s elections have long been enough to provide the illusion of a functioning democracy. The Trump Administration is in ongoing discussions on maybe backing away from that.

The Wall Street Journal reported ongoing discussions are being held at the behest of US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, who has been pushing the idea of telling the Afghan government to simply indefinitely suspend the presidential election, which is supposed to happen in April.

The US interest in this plan is apparently centered on the attempts to negotiate with the Taliban on settling the ongoing war, with officials, including Khalilzad, believing that such negotiations would be too hard in the middle of a nationwide election.

Russia announces Taliban’s demands for US

Afghanistan’s Taliban will negotiate with the central government in Kabul only after the United States agrees to leave the country, according to a senior Russian diplomat.

Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special envoy for Afghanistan, announced the Taliban’s demands on Monday after hosting an international summit on the country’s crisis that was attended by other members of a security bloc led by Russia and China. The Taliban want the United States to undertake a number of “confidence-building measures,” starting with a deadline for a full withdrawal from the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Perhaps this is the reason why US Under Secretary of State David Hale got so thoroughly unhinged about this meeting with the Taliban and Russia, as to characterize them in the very negative way he did; he knew both what the Taliban wanted (a timetable for US military withdrawal), and that the US government would refuse these terms, immediately and unequivocally.

House Leadership Aims to Stop Debate on US Involvement in Saudi War in Yemen

On Wednesday, a measure is being advanced at the behest of House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) aiming to derail House Continuing Resolution 138, a War Powers Act challenge which would force an end to the US military involvement in the Saudi-led War in Yemen.

Under the War Powers Act, any individual lawmaker is intended to be able to raise the matter of an unauthorized war for debate and a vote on the floor. Efforts to do so have failed, however, as the House leadership has used the Rules Committee to sidestep the issue.

This move to derail the debate is part of the first day of lame-duck House business, and Rep. Ryan and the other leaders seem to be hoping to turn the legal challenge of the war into a partisan issue. Minority Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) accused the Republican leadership of shirking Congressional responsibility.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, this is all about two things; the billions the weaponry companies are making from Saudi Arabia, and about continuing and abetting their war crimes in Yemen, rather than having a national discussion of the moral costs to this country these actions have had. (warning: highly graphic images):

The Saudis are assassinating women, children, or maiming them for life with their bombing raids:

Images: dead and crippled Yemeni children, courtesy of Saudi Bombing Raids

The US enabled blockade of Yemeni ports, means that desperately needed food, and medical supplies cannot be distributed, lead to massive death by malnutrition:

Images: Yemeni children dying of malnutrition.

And now, as the Yemeni people become weaker through malnutrition, there is a cholera epidemic here that has turned absolutely vicious.

Images: Yemeni children treated for cholera

I for one want to see this carnage stopped, immediately, and negotiations among all sides leading to a cease fire, and peace talks among all parties to resolve this horrific war.

And President Trump, I would like to strongly caution you that the optics here internationally...couldn't possibly be worse, for this country, and its participation on the genocide of Yemen, courtesy of one of your BFFs in the region, The Butcher of Yemen, AKA Crown Prince bin Salman.

The most elite US-trained forces in Afghanistan routed by the Taliban, another sign the war is a lost cause

The most elite US-trained forces in Afghanistan suffered a devastating defeat to the Taliban in what's often referred to as the country's "safest district" over the weekend, in yet another sign the war is a lost cause.

Early on Sunday, a company of roughly 50 Afghan special-forces commandos was almost entirely destroyed in the rural district of Jaghori, according to a report from The New York Times.

Over 30 of the US-trained commandos were killed, The Times said, in a district that is "famous" for how peaceful it is.

Schumer Urges Florida to Ignore Ballot Deadlines

Senator Chuck Schumer on Tuesday encouraged Florida to blow off fast-approaching deadlines to submit vote totals for the Senate race where Republican Rick Scott leads incumbent Democratic senator Bill Nelson by a tiny margin.

“The more time that passes since election day, the better things keep looking for Democrats,” Schumer said at a joint press conference with Nelson in Washington, D.C.

“Supervisors of the elections should have all the time they need to count every Floridan’s ballot,” the Senate minority leader said. “Even if the vote count has to go beyond Sunday.”

Schumer said the deadlines should be ignored since the Senate race does not have an electoral vote in Congress scheduled for December as the 2000 presidential race did when it underwent a recount in Florida.

Gov. Scott to step down from elections board

Florida Gov. Rick Scott will step down from the state panel responsible for certifying the results in the state's highly contested elections.

Daniel Nordby, a lawyer for the Republican governor, told a federal judge Wednesday that Scott will recuse himself from the state's canvassing commission. The commission is a three-member panel that officially signs off on election results in state and federal races.

Scott is locked in a tight Senate race against U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson that is the subject of an ongoing recount.

The League of Women Voters of Florida and another group have filed a lawsuit seeking to remove Scott from any official control over the election. Scott appoints the state's chief election official responsible for ordering recounts. Ballots, however, are counted by local election officials.

"Things Are Getting Worse": Mall Owners Hand Over The Keys To Lenders Before They Even Default

For years, traditional malls around the United States have been in a state of partial or full collapse thanks to "the Amazon effect": deteriorating conditions, bankrupt or cash-bleeding tenants, with some even transforming into homeless shelters as the retail industry "evolves".

In other words, as Bloomberg writes, "things are getting worse for malls across America." So much worse, in fact, that their owners are simply walking away early from struggling properties, a trend that has sparked fears of material losses among mortgage bond investors.

Investors in and lenders to malls across America are bracing for the fallout from the disappearance of the brick and mortar sub-sector of the industry. With the recent bankruptcy of retail giant Sears, mall operators are continuing to see accelerating defaults in the wake of numerous other retail bankruptcies from stores like Bon-Ton, Wet Seal and RadioShack, and many others, resulting in abrupt declines in rental and lease payments.

Afghans Turning Their Backs on US After 17 Years of War

Seventeen years after the US invasion of Afghanistan, many residents of the country have changed their minds for the worse on the Americans.

The war, by many measures, keeps getting worse. As Sputnik News recently reported, Afghan authorities control or influence a mere 55.5 percent of the country, according to the US Military's Special Inspector General on Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), the lowest figure since the government oversight authority began keeping tabs on it in November 2015.

Despite the grim landscape, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani told an audience of students at an influential Washington university on Monday that "the Taliban are not in a winning position." That same day, a suicide bomber in Kabul targeted demonstrators protesting the lack of security against the Taliban provided by the government, and the militants made further gains in the east.

Bitcoin Could Help Mitigate Iran’s Oil Selling Problem

It seems there’s no end in sight to the US economic pressure being levied against Iran. In addition to the second wave of US sanctions which took effect on November 5th, the US government has tried several different ways to undermine or limit Iranian oil sales around the world. The most recent effort had been the US government’s actions to pressure SWIFT to stop processing financial transactions for Iran. That effort was successful and has left Iran with only a few options to continue selling its oil abroad...

Moscow baffled at US accusations of hindering Afghan settlement

On November 9 Moscow hosted a conference on Afghanistan that involved delegates from Kabul and Taliban and that was attended by an observer from the United States.

Russia is baffled at the United States’ attempts to accuse it of hindering dialogue between the Afghan authorities and the radical Taliban movement (outlawed in Russia), especially on the background of the recent consultations in Moscow that involved both parties, the Russian foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

"We took notice of the statement US Under Secretary of State David Hale made at a conference organized by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy on November 8, where he said in particular that Russia is allegedly hindering peace talks with the Taliban movement," the ministry said. "Such statement cannot but be baffling on the background of Russia’s persistent efforts in cooperation with the regional partners to facilitate the launch of the process of intra-Afghan reconciliation."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hale should have had his bloody head examined, before coming up with this codswallop.

I think in fact, Hale may have been jealous about how well this meeting went, and without US governmental supervision.

Female prisoners in England left to give birth without midwife, report reveals

Births in cells are thought to be rare, although nobody knows exactly how many occur or even how many prisoners are pregnant because neither the Ministry of Justice nor the NHS collects the data. But the lack of direct access, even on the phone, to a midwife for a women who thinks she is in labour makes it a risk. Prison nursing staff are not often trained to know when a woman is in labour, nor to cope with emergency deliveries if they cannot get the woman to hospital in time.

“This is an area that we have become increasingly concerned about,” said Naomi Delap, director of the charity Birth Companions, which has been supporting women in prison for over 21 years. Last year they wrote to the prison service expressing concern for the safety of women and babies, asking for urgent measures to be put in place. “We had started to hear a number of stories from different places about women giving birth in prison.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is just bloody medieval, not to mention cruel and unusual punishment.

Of course, US prisons with pregnant inmates are not much better; women are made to give birth in chains, "so they won't escape."

As late as two months ago, a law was proposed in the US, insuring that no women prisoners would have to give birth in chains: New Bill Would Ensure No Woman Forced to give birth in chains

The article goes on to state:

"Fortunately, there is now a bipartisan effort in Congress to begin eliminating dangerous and degrading practices for pregnant women. The Pregnant Women in Custody Act (PWCA) places strict limits on the use of shackles and solitary confinement on pregnant women in federal prison and in the custody of the United States Marshals Service. It also sets forth basic standards for pregnancy care.

Importantly, the bill mandates that the federal government start collecting data on incarcerated women who are pregnant. Because, unbelievably, in a country that lionizes the power of big data for criminal justice, we don’t even know the number of pregnant women in our prisons and jails."

Migrant caravan invades Tijuana — chants ‘Viva Honduras’, ‘Let’s see Donald Trump’

The first migrant caravan arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border this week to find a fortified Tijuana port of entry, and they’re now resting up at Airbnbs in upscale neighborhoods in Playas de Tijuana provided by their American attorneys.

Locals haven’t exactly greeted the group with open arms, according to Mexican journalist Jorge Nieto.

The news site reports the group of about 85 mostly LBGTQ migrants trudged ahead of the first large caravan heading to the U.S. “because they felt they were being discriminated against.”

Proof! Hillary’s Lawyers Did Want to Count Non-Citizen Votes

When news came out that Nelson and Gillum’s lawyers argued for non-citizen votes to be counted, both campaigns claimed ignorance. No one took responsibility for the appointment of the lawyer or for his actions.

BOMBSHELL: Fulton County Numbers Show Massive Duplicate Ballots, Rejected Ballots, Non-Citizens Trying To Vote

Bombshell numbers out of Fulton County, Georgia show that a vast amount of the provisional ballots submitted in the Democrat stronghold were rejected for being duplicate ballots.

Abrams’ search for provisional ballots may yield fruit, but her search for credible provisional ballots that can be counted in this election will prove futile. Why?

A full 1,811 provisional ballots in Fulton County were duplicates (49 percent), and 1,556 of them (42 percent of the total provisionals) were rejected.

Survivors call Vatican telling US bishops to wait on abuse ‘totally unacceptable’

Following Monday’s shock announcement that the Vatican has requested the U.S. Catholic Bishops to delay voting on new standards for bishop accountability, survivors of sexual abuse and bishop accountability activists decried the move as “totally unacceptable.”

Terence McKiernan, co-director of BishopAccountability.org, called the move a “preemptive strike” by the Vatican against U.S. bishops as they seek to respond to the current crisis of sexual abuse and its cover-up “in a modest way.”

Peter Isley, a survivor of clerical sexual abuse who now works with the organization Ending Clergy Abuse, said the decision from the Vatican effectively means, “We care more about our organization and our princely titles and positions” than enacting measures of accountability.

We have definitely deviated from the script. According to virtually all of the “experts”, the stock market was not supposed to keep plummeting in November. This was supposed to be the month when the market calmed down and things returned to normal. But instead, November is starting to look a whole lot like October, and many investors are really starting to freak out. U.S. stocks declined for a third day in a row on Monday, and all post-election gains have now been completely wiped out. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost another 602 points, and all of these large daily losses are really starting to add up. 1,000+ Troops Converge On Border Awaiting Migrant Caravan

A total of about 1,300 troops are now deployed to Rio Grande Valley in South Texas between McAllen and Brownsville according to U.S. Army officials attached to the deployment. On Tuesday, units from the 19th Engineer Battalion out of Fort Knox and 97th Military Police Battalion from Fort Riley spent the day stretching several miles of razor wire along the southern side of an existing border fence near the Brownsville-Matamoros Port of Entry.

Their efforts are part of the preparations that U.S. troops are aiding U.S. Customs and Border Protection with ahead of a possible arrival of members from the migrant caravan trekking north through Mexico hoping to seek asylum in the U.S.

Russia jammed GPS during major NATO military exercise with US troops

The Russian military jammed GPS signals during a major NATO military exercise in Norway that involved thousands of US and NATO troops, the alliance said Wednesday, citing the Norwegian government.

The NATO exercise, Trident Juncture, concluded Sunday and involved some 50,000 personnel. It was labeled the alliance's largest exercise since the Cold War. Non-NATO members Finland and Sweden also participated in the exercise.
A spokesperson for the Norwegian ministry of defense acknowledged the jamming to CNN, which it said took place between October 16 and November 7, and said it would defer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on further questions to Russian authorities.

"Norway has determined that Russia was responsible for jamming GPS signals in the Kola Peninsula during Exercise Trident Juncture. Finland has expressed concern over possible jamming in Lapland," NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu told CNN Wednesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Right now, all we have is an allegation.

Where, please, is the irrefutable truth that this happened?!?

The short answer, right now... is nowhere.

A "determination", without hard evidence, is just that; sound and fury, ultimately signifying... nothing.

LAND SEIZURES IN SOUTH AFRICA WON’T VIOLATE CONSTITUTION... ONCE IT’S CHANGED – RAMAPHOSA

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa told the European Parliament on Wednesday that his country’s land reform will faithfully adhere to the country’s constitution with respect to the rights of all its citizens.
The Ramaphosa-led African National Congress (ANC) aims to change the constitution to allow the government to expropriate land from white landowners without compensation. The land is to be distributed to the country’s landless black majority. Ramaphosa says the change in law is necessary in order to address racial disparities in ownership persisting more than two decades after the end of apartheid.

“This problem of land will be resolved through adherence to the rule of law and adherence to the constitution,” Ramaphosa told the European Parliament.

The widely debated land reform was proposed by the ANC last December. The draft was aimed at changing Section 25 of the South African Constitution that regards property rights.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Appropriation of land without compensation is a form of theft, period, end of discussion. And since Ramaphosa supports theft, he supports land grabs.

And President Ramaphosa, I can promise you that the first resistant seller's families, filmed on an iphone, to document their getting killed defending their land, will make top news for blogs around the world.

And I must ask you; is this the image of South Africa you really want the world to see?!? Because sir, I can assure you that somewhere down the road, such an event is going to happen, in the annexing of private property without compensation.

It will cause a real chill in foreign investment in your country.

This will NOT support "nation building"; it will support the following; a flight for their lives from the current land owners; people now owning the land, but not having not a clue as to how to make their crops successful, leading to massive crop failures, meaning more and more food will have to be imported; and a ton of bank loans to get equipment for those farms left delinquent, hitting South Africa's banks for millions of dollars of losses.

One has to wonder just how soon all this may cause a major devaluation of the South African Rand; this convergence of these events may trigger "the perfect economic tsunami" for the country.

Trump's America First policy only brought US global backlash: Zarif

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has slammed US President Donald Trump’s so-called 'America First' agenda as a “mistake,” saying his administration’s failure to honor international commitments under such an approach has only created a global backlash against Washington.

Zarif made the remarks in an interview with London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed media outlet that was published on Tuesday.

He was asked about a recent tweet by Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, on French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent call for the creation of a “real European army” to protect itself against the US.

Haass had said “America First has brought us the revival of the spirit of De Gaulle. More evidence of a post-American world.”

Zarif stressed that he agreed with Haass regarding the fallout of Trump’s 'America First' approach.

HODGES: Three Reasons Why Pelosi and Her Criminally Complicit Democrats Are Freaking Out Over the Whitaker Appointment

The Democrats are absolutely freaking out over the appointment of Matt Whitaker as the new acting Attorney General of the United States. There are a chorus of Democratic politicians and their mouthpiece media that are demanding that Whitaker immediately recuse himself from any oversight of Mueller.

There are three major reasons why criminally complicit Democrats and the Deep State, as a whole, are in a state of absolute panic over the appointment of Matt Whitaker. Pelosi called Whitaker’s appointment “a violent act against the Constitution”. That is not the reason why this appointment is causing so much anxiety.

The three reasons why this move is creating panic:

Nancy Pelosi: Gun Confiscation “Will Be A Priority”

Well, this sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Does anyone remember that under Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah and following Sandy Hook that the cries from the Democrats were that they were going to make gun confiscation a priority and try to ramrod gun bans down our throat? I sure do, and the American people stood up to them and said no, you’re not! Somehow, I think we need to prepare to do it again. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who is expected to become House Speaker again, has sounded the warning that Democrats in the House will take up gun confiscation measures that are unconstitutional immediately after hypocritically taking an oath to uphold the Constitution.

On Thursday, Pelosi said that it would be a priority for the Democrats, Communists and Socialists in the House of Representatives.

The British Army is carrying out a massive test of military robots and drones

The British Army is testing out over 70 new technologies, including unmanned vehicles and surveillance drones, in a four-week experiment on one of its biggest training grounds.

What sort of stuff? The department isn’t giving out specifics but said the focus will be on “surveillance, long-range, and precision targeting, enhanced mobility and the re-supply of forces, urban warfare and enhanced situational awareness.” The development is part of a £800 million “innovation fund” launched in 2016.

The aim? Primarily it’s about reducing the danger to troops during combat, according to the UK’s Ministry of Defense (MoD). One of the main areas it’ll test is “last mile” supply of fuel, food, and ammunition. The exercise will culminate in a simulated battle involving over 200 soldiers to test out the ideas and products.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would fully suspect that The gap between the rhetoric, and the actual reality of what these agencies want to achieve with these machines, is probably far larger than the British public is being told, at least for the moment.

When given the kind of money to make this technology work, expect that those in control of developing it, may decide to actually create a monster, incapable of being made to stop what it is doing, which will have the capability to tear humans to shreds.

Weaponized Migration is the New Battlespace

The modern battlespace is in flux as innovations in technology and strategy erode the conventional categories of warfare. Recent developments in Finland have prompted a shift in military thinking aimed at dealing with hybrid warfare, a multi-layered approach to offence focusing on non-lethal and often non-military interventions.

We have already heard much talk about weaponized narrative and seen the results of cyber warfare from the Ukraine to the US Elections, allegedly. We can now add to the hybrid warfare arsenal a new strategy concept, the weaponization of mass migration, or, to coin a phrase, sociological warfare. Simply shifting a large mass of people into the enemy’s territory produces chaos, conflict and economic erosion without the aggressor having to fire a single shot, or even appearing to have done anything.

The Finnish were not slow to recognise this, as Bloomberg reports:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Wednesday afternoon that he will take over the role as Defense Minister.

Netanyahu’s decision to take over as Defense Minister comes just two hours after Avigdor Lieberman announced his resignation from this role.

A familiar invasion: Settlers take another mountain top, soldiers follow, and Palestinians demonstrate for their rights

It was the day before Eid al-Adha last summer, and millions of Palestinian Muslims across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, Gaza, and Israel were preparing for the biggest holiday of the year.

But when the residents of the Ramallah-area village of Kafr Ni’ma woke up, expecting to spend the day decorating their homes and preparing sweets for the visitors they would receive the following morning, they were shocked to find a group of visitors on the outskirts of the town.

“The settlers came in the middle of the night, no one knew. By morning they had paved a road up to the mountain, set up their tents, and had soldiers protecting them,” Zafer Attayah, a resident of Kfar Ni’ma told Mondoweiss.

Palestinian resistance imposes new rules of engagement with Israel

A ceasefire brokered by four international mediators took effect in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon, ending two days of violence which started when Israel assassinated a senior Hamas commander during an incursion by Special Forces, an act to which the Palestinians retaliated. The Israelis killed seven Palestinians and wounded 26, while one senior Israeli officer was killed and 90 others were wounded; most of them, said the Israeli media, sustained light wounds.

Israeli army sources said that the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip fired 460 rockets, and the “Iron Dome” air defence system intercepted just 100 of them. The rockets caused damage in a number of facilities in the illegal Israeli settlements around Gaza, as well as in the coastal city of Ashkelon. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces carried out 160 air strikes on Palestinian targets, including residential buildings, resistance sites and government offices.

Jewish Politics in America – A Post Political View

In 1994 I enrolled in a postgraduate course in philosophy at a British University. On my first day at the University I had to complete a few routine administrative duties such as registering my name with the philosophy department and meeting my supervisors. I was also told that I had to join the student union. Being a subservient type, I walked over to the Student Union hall where I soon realized that the task was slightly more complicated than I had expected. There were a plethora of student unions to choose from: The Black Student Union, The Asian Student Association, The Socialist Students, The Gay Student Society and more. Confused, I asked for assistance. They asked where I was from. When I told them “Israel,” I was told that the “Jewish Student Union” was my home.

A “Civil War” Lesson for the Uneducated

When the Southern states seceded, they were concerned to do so legally or constitutionally under the Constitution so that the North could not legally claim that it was an act of rebellion and invade the Southern states. To make this case, the South needed to make a case that the North had broken the Consltitutional contract and that the South was seceding because the North had not kept to the Constitution.

This presented a legal challenge for the South, because the reason for which the Southern states were seceding was the tariff, but the Constitution gave the federal government the right to levy a tariff. Therefore, the Southern states could not cite the tariff as a breach of the Constitutional fabric.

Two days after state officials ordered a statewide recount in three key races that ended within razor-thin margins, Broward County elections officials said Monday they have not yet started their recount of more than 700,000 ballots it must tally before Thursday's deadline.

Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes said she was not concerned that her office would not meet its deadline, even if the start of the recount is delayed until Tuesday morning.

"No, there is not" any concern, said Snipes, whose headquarters in Lauderhill were once again surrounded Monday by a small crowd of protesters critical of the elections chief and her competence to serve.

Judge could put the squeeze on Hillary Clinton for testimony on emails

A conservative watchdog group seeking to compel testimony from Hillary Clinton will get a hearing in federal court on the matter Wednesday afternoon.

Judicial Watch announced Tuesday that U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan will hear the case, which stems from a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit regarding the controversial employment status of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin, who was granted a "special government employee" designation to accept outside employment while she was working at the State Department.

Clinton submitted written testimony under oath in October 2016, but Judicial Watch took issue with her answering that she "does not recall" for multiple questions regarding her Clinton.com, non-state.gov email system.

Clinton claimed that she “does not recall” 20 times in her under-oath responses to 25 Judicial Watch questions concerning her Clinton.com, non-state.gov email system. Bentel asserted his Fifth Amendment right and refused to answer 87 questions at his deposition.
The hearing is before U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan.

Merkel joins Macron in call for ‘real, true’ European army after Trump slams idea

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called for a “real, true” European army to be created, just days after French President Emmanuel Macron did the same – and received backlash from Donald Trump for doing so.

“We should work on a vision of one day establishing a real European army,” Merkel said during an address to MEPs at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Monday.

That statement was an apparent nod of support to Macron, who last week said that Europe has to “protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia, and even the United States of America.” Europe cannot do so, he said, “unless we decide to have a true European army.”
