Brennan and Clapper: Elder Statesmen of the Intelligence Community or “Serial Fabricators”?

In other words, after an arduous 12 month-long investigation involving both Houses of Congress, a Special Counsel, and a small army of high-paid Washington attorneys, the only straw Brennan has found to hold on to, is a few innocuous advertisements posted on Facebook and Twitter that had no noticeable impact on the election at all. That’s a very weak foundation upon which to build a case for foreign espionage or presidential collusion. It’s hard not to conclude that the public has been seriously misled by the leaders of this campaign.

Entire Bedouin village faced with forced displacement

An entire village consisting of dozens of Palestinian Bedouin families is threatened with imminent forced displacement, after Israel issued a rare evacuation order for the whole community.

Jabal al-Baba, which lies to the east of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, is home to more than 300 people.

"Residents are becoming paranoid of the future because it is unknown," Atalah Jahalen, a local community leader, told Al Jazeera on Saturday.

"All their lives, they have lived and built in this area, and now all of it can be destroyed at any moment."

According to Jahalen, Israel's civil administration and police entered Jabal al-Baba on Thursday. They hung a poster in a central location detailing the evacuation decision and displaying a map of the area.

The order informed residents that they had eight days to collect their belongings and leave, or else Israeli authorities would return to force them out.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This strategy, on Israel's part, makes a potential contiguous Palestinian state impossible; and secondly, where, please, are these soon to be dispossessed Palestinians supposed to go?!?

Coming to grips with the fear of war in Lebanon

Ahmad Tajeldin Abdullah remembers when his neighbourhood was filled with dead bodies. Three years ago, on the streets of Tripoli, he witnessed snipers shoot children on their walk to school, homes destroyed by explosions, and women being shot while hanging laundry outside.

Abdullah was starting to get used to peace in his country, but now he is terrified that it is about to end.

"I can already see a war coming," he says. "I have a daughter who's just 13 days old. I'm afraid for my children's lives."

Is Lebanon on the verge of another conflict?
Halim Shebaya
by Halim Shebaya
His fear stems from a political crisis brewing in Lebanon.

It started on November 4, when Prime Minister Saad Hariri abruptly resigned.

He made the announcement from Saudi Arabia, fell off the radar for eight days, and then broke his silence in a televised interview, again from Saudi.

The series of events fueled rumours that Saudi forced Hariri to resign.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is not only Iran and Saudi Arabia vying for political power here; it is also Israel as well.

The colour-coded Israeli ID system for Palestinians

After the 1967 war, the Israeli military declared the occupied territories to be closed areas, making it mandatory for Palestinian residents to obtain permits to enter or leave. Palestinians who were abroad during that time missed out on the subsequent population census and were not granted identification papers.

The clear delineator that has separated and dictated the lives of these Palestinians is the colour-coded identification system issued by the Israeli military and reinforced in 1981 through its Civil Administration branch. Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip have green IDs - generally issued once they turn 16 - while Palestinians in East Jerusalem and Israel have blue IDs.

The cards affect everything from freedom of movement to family unity.

Tool of control

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is painfully ironic, in light of the reality that it was the Nazis in Germany who initiated color coded and shaped badges with which to identify prisoners:

STARVED, ‘MUTILATED’ AND BLACKMAILED, MIGRANTS AUCTIONED OFF AS SLAVES, BY SMUGGLERS IN LIBYA

From becoming one of the major points in Africa from which migrants can attempt to cross over into Europe, Libya is now turning into a slave trade city thanks to the heavy flow of desperate people from other parts of the continent. A new investigation has revealed people are being sold as modern-day slaves for as little as £300 ($400).
According to CNN which exposed the racket, slave sales are conducted on the outskirts of the nation’s capital, Tripoli, where auctions take place for various types of manual labourers. In one case, a video was made available, which shows the sale of “big strong boys for farm work”.
An undercover operation revealed similar auctions where around a dozen people were sold in a matter of five to six minutes. “Does anybody need a digger? This is a digger, a big, strong man, he’ll dig,” an auctioneer calls out in one clip. “What am I bid, what am I bid?”

Webmaster's Commentary:

In her cheerleading for the forcible removal of Ghadaffi as the governmental head of Libya via assassination, did Hillary Clinton ever see this possibility coming?!?

That a new slave trade would result from the wake of his assassination?!?

The short answer has to be, "Hell, no!!"

US Quietly Builds Up Troops in Somalia

One of the many quiet escalations in countries where US military operations on the ground hadn’t really been well publicized in the first place, officials say that the US has more than doubled the number of ground troops in Somalia this year, and now have over 500 troops there.

This is the most troops the US have had in the country since 1993, when the Black Hawk Down incident killed 18 US soldiers and led to a quick withdrawal from the nation. This year was also the first year since 1993 that any US troops died in Somalia.

This escalation has involved a soaring number of US airstrikes in Somalia, not to mention a number of joint ground operations with Somali forces, mostly against al-Shabaab fighters, but many of them with very unclear goals.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The "goals" of this escalation are entirely clear, if one knows where to look for them:

Natural resources: uranium and largely unexploited reserves of iron ore, tin, gypsum, bauxite, copper, salt, natural gas, likely oil reserves
Definition: This entry lists a country's mineral, petroleum, hydropower, and other resources of commercial importance.

You can see the words "largely unexploited"; that is the whole point;
the US government wants to get to those resources before Russia/China can lay claim to them; it is just that simple.

60 Minutes, barred from Yemen, still got the footage

This week on 60 Minutes, correspondent Scott Pelley reports on the dire conditions for children in Yemen. The situation is so severe that, according to the U.N., a child in Yemen dies every ten minutes. But the widespread starvation is an underreported story because, as Pelley explains, the Saudi-led blockade that's cutting off food supplies is also blocking journalists from entering Yemen.

"As soon as we got to Djibouti, the Saudis rescinded the permission that they had given us to be on the ship," Pelley says. So the team started asking questions. Was the ship being held in port? No, they were told. It was still going; they were not.

From the window in their hotel room, they watched the ship depart without them.

Though physically blocked, the team was not deterred.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bravo to 60 minutes for actually getting the footage out of Yemen they did; they were very ingenious and very inventive in making this work.

However, that being said, the US government's fealty here is to Saudi Arabia, in what can only be characterized as a genocide in Yemen, courtesy of its Butcher in Chief, Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman, who appears to be taking over as King this week, while Americans will be dozing from the L-tryptophane in their turkey.

I am profoundly morally uncomfortable being a citizen of a country colluding with the Saudis in war crimes in Yemen, and firmly believe that US citizens need to be having a very public, and peaceful, but loud and detailed, conversation about why this country's leadership is completely morally comfortable in their participation in war crimes in Yemen.

Because in my world, one Yemeni kid who has been assassinated by Saudi airstrikes, with US military "guidance"; one Yemeni kid who has died from complications of malnutration; or one Yemeni kid who has been killed by exposure to cholera (possibly weaponised), is one Yemeni kid too many.

US War Zone Deaths Rising for First Time in Six Years

Escalations in US operations across the world have led to an increase in the number of US troops being killed in war zones, with 2017 the first time the year-over-year deaths have risen in six years.

26 soldiers were killed in 2016, down from 28 in 2015. This year still has a month and a half to go, and the figure is already up to 31. That death toll does not include a number of sailors killed in ship collisions, which were not inside war zones.

This is not close to the number of US combat deaths during the height of the US occupation of Iraq, with over 1,000 troops killed in 2007. Still, there is every reason to believe that the trend will be continued increases in deaths.

That’s because deployments aren’t just being done in the usual warzones of Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, but increasingly US troops are finding themselves in harms way is places like Niger, where they are in small numbers with little access to backup when things turn bad.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When Karl Marx made the observation that "all wars are economic" in origin, the guy wasn't smoking opium.

These are all wars for resources; not wars for "defending the American way of life"; not for patriotism; not for "freedom", however that may be defined in the USA in the 21st century, with every keystroke, and every telephone call surveilled, and every physical movement you make recorded from your phone's GPS.

These are all about regime-change; forcing foreign governments to become more US/Western centric; expropriating resources to which neither the US government, nor the corporations which own it, have any moral right; and then insuring that these resources are all only sold to "approved " countries and only for the US dollar.

Hezbollah On "High Alert", Says It Will Be Blamed For 'False Flag' Assassination Attempt

Hezbollah has raised its military readiness on the whole Lebanese territory in the last few days and put its forces on high alert in the light of the threats it has received from a number of countries, and especially from Israel and Saudi Arabia. Hezbollah forces have been mobilized in the event of any hostile activity on the borders or in the country, notwithstanding the ongoing conviction of its leadership that Israel will not wage a direct war in the near or distant future.

According to well informed sources, Hezbollah fears the possible assassination of a well-known Lebanese figure, Sunni or Christian, similar to the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005. The aim would be to re-mix the cards on the Lebanese scene, accuse Hezbollah and to embarrass President Michel Aoun.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hezbollah and Lebanon have every reason to be concerned about this possibility, particularly with Prince Salman's grand designs on the region, which may well include war against both Lebanon and Iran.

The entire Middle East appears to be one big tinderbox right at this moment, just waiting for someone, or something, to set it alight.

China proposes three-phase solution to Rakhine issue in Myanmar: FM

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Sunday that China proposed a three-phase solution to help settle the issue in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
China believed that the Rakhine issue can be addressed by a solution acceptable to both Myanmar and Bangladesh through consultations between the two neighboring countries, Wang told a joint press conference with Myanmar's State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi.

The international community and the United Nations Security Council should encourage such efforts by creating conditions and good atmosphere for the consultations, he added.
The Chinese top diplomat said the Bangladesh government pledged to continue bilateral talks with Myanmar over the issue when he visited the country Saturday. Myanmar also expressed the same attitude, he said.
Wang said the Rakhine issue is a complicated one touching on history, ethnicity and religion, which calls for both an urgent and long-term solution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Chinese Foreign Minister Yi is proposing is completely rational, but unfortunately, does not address the centuries of prejudice against the Rohingya people in Myanmar.

I never thought, earlier in my life, that I would have to say, that there would be a group of hyper-nationalistic Buddhists who would want to exterminate another religious group in their country with extreme prejudice; unfortunately, however, that is precisely what I am seeing happening in Myanmar right now.

Even the UN is characterising this behaviour, on the part of these Buddhists, as textbook ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya people.

I sincerely hope that this can get sorted, in a civil and humanitarian way.

ECB Proposes End To Deposit Protection

'covered deposits and claims under investor compensation schemes should be replaced by limited discretionary exemptions to be granted by the competent authority in order to retain a degree of flexibility.'

To translate the legalese jargon of the ECB bureaucrats this could mean that the current €100,000 (£85,000) deposit level currently protected in the event of a bail-in may soon be no more. But worry not fellow savers, as the ECB is fully aware of the uproar this may cause so they have been kind enough to propose that:

"...during a transitional period, depositors should have access to an appropriate amount of their covered deposits to cover the cost of living within five working days of a request."

So that's a relief, you'll only need to wait five days for some 'competent authority' to deem what is an 'appropriate amount' of your own money for you to have access to in order eat, pay bills and get to work.

Detecting Disinformation Agents

There are several types of disinformation agents, from high-profile ones who gain a lot of publicity and promote well-crafted stories, to low-level ones who serve to flood the Internet with less reputable claims. This document deals primarily with the former.

The ultimate purpose of a disinformation agent is three-fold:

a) to create a sense of ridicule about anything that they include in their story so that even what is true will be not be believed by intelligent people,

b) to mislead those who are gullible enough to believe their story, and

c) to divert the efforts of those who seek to know the truth through further investigation.

Although disinformation agents are used to cover up the truth, their claims should not be written off completely, since they can still teach us something about the underlying truth that they’re meant to cover up.

NATO Adds to Turkey’s Chagrin. Turkish Good-Bye to NATO?

There has long been speculation about a Turkish good-bye to NATO.

The U.S. and its military proxy organization in Europe are doing their best to further such a move:

The image of Atatürk was displayed as a target during the drill at NATO’s Joint Warfare Center in Stavanger, Norway held between Nov. 8 and Nov. 17, while a NATO soldier posted defamatory words about Erdo?an on the social media.

Atatürk is the founder of the secular Turkey. He was designated as “target” during a desk-top drill. NATO’s Joint Warfare Center is not a low level school but an elite officer training institution led by a Major-General. The 40 Turkish soldiers who attended the training course were immediately ordered back home.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Turkey now appears, both economically, and militarily, to be moving toward a more Russian/Chinese orbit, and NATO has no one but itself to blame for this.

The US-led War Against ISIS Is Killing 31 Times More Civilians Than Claimed. Report

The Pentagon claims that its air war against ISIS is one of the most accurate in history and that it is so careful in who it targets that the 14,000 US airstrikes in Iraq have killed just 89 civilians.

It turns out that the military’s assertion is a stunning underestimation of the true human cost of Washington’s three-year-old war against ISIS. An 18-month-long investigation by the New York Times has found that the US-led military coalition is killing civilians in Iraq at a rate 31 times higher than it’s admitting.

“It is at such a distance from official claims that, in terms of civilian deaths, this may be the least transparent war in recent American history,” Azmat Khan and Anand Gopal report.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why am I not surprised here?!?

The US government collectively lies through its teeth on everything else it tells American citizens, and the world!!

Families as pawns: Israel pressures Palestinians into exile through foreign spouse visas

Like many young married couples across the world, Claire and her husband have a five-year-plan. But instead of their main concern being how to deal with the imminent arrival of their first child, Claire’s family is facing the very real possibility of expulsion and exile.

Like scores of other foreigners married to Palestinians in the occupied territory, Claire — whose name has been changed to protect her identity, like all other women interviewed for this article — has struggled to navigate the labyrinthine Israeli bureaucratic process to obtain the necessary paperwork to reside in the West Bank with her husband.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Typical behaviour from a wretchedly aparthied, self-proclaimed theocracy, with nuclear weapons, which is precisely what the state of Israel has become in the 21st century.

Global medical watchdog complicit with Israeli abuses

It is now more than 20 years since Amnesty International first concluded that Israeli doctors working with Israel’s security services “form part of a system in which detainees are tortured, ill-treated and humiliated in ways that place prison medical practice in conflict with medical ethics.”

Since then there have been repeated attempts – of which this author has been part – to have the global medical ethics watchdog World Medical Association (WMA) hold the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) accountable for these practices.

But with the latest attempt foundering last year and despite changes in leadership over the years, the conclusion that now has to be drawn is that, when it comes to Israel, the WMA is not fit for the purpose for which it was created after World War II.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Torture is routine, on the part of the IDF against Palestinians, even though it has been proven to not produce actionable results, and will simply get the tortured individuals to say whatever they think their interrogators want to hear in order to get the torture to stop.

So why does the IDF do this?!? Because they can get away with it, with absolute and complete impunity.

Israel bars Palestinian grandmother from visiting slain father’s grave for 70 years

Salwa Salem-Copty hopes to someday return to live in her family’s village in the north of Israel, but at 70 years old, she thinks it is unlikely. Instead she has one request — she would like to be allowed to visit the grave of her father, who was killed when a bus full of workers traveling to Haifa was attacked in April 1948.

Salwa’s mother was pregnant with her at the time, living as an internally displaced person in nearby Nazareth with three young children. She had prepared Easter dinner for her family, as they waited on her husband to return. Instead Salwa’s uncle showed up with the news — Salwa’s father was not coming home.

While the residents of Ma’alul had been kicked out of their village several months previously, when Israeli forces took over the area, demolishing every Palestinian home in the village, residents were still able to bury their dead in the village’s cemeteries.

Webmaster's Commentary:

JUST when I think the government of Israel cannot possibly be more heavy-handedly petty, it amazes me yet again with its pig-ignorant, insensitive behaviour.

North Korea’s Submarine Ballistic Missile Program Moves Ahead: Indications of Shipbuilding and Missile Ejection Testing

Commercial satellite imagery of the Sinpo South Shipyard from November 5 indicates that North Korea is on an aggressive schedule to build and deploy its first operational ballistic missile submarine.

The continued movement of parts and components into and out of the parts yards adjacent to the construction halls indicates an ongoing shipbuilding program. The presence of what appear to be sections of a submarine’s pressure hull in the yards suggests construction of a new submarine, possibly the SINPO-C ballistic missile submarine (SSB)[1]—the follow-on to the current SINPO-class experimental ballistic missile submarine (SSBA).[2]

A probable launch canister support, or launch canister, appears to be present within the service tower at the missile test stand suggesting the ongoing ejection testing of submarine launch ballistic missiles (SLBM). Such testing could support the continued development of SLBMs, a new ballistic missile submarine or a combination of both.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In light of the fact that the land around their missile test site has been geologically compromised, this would be a very logical thing which North Korean scientists would want to do.

Saudi 'Corruption' Probe Widens: Dozens Of Military Officials Arrested

After jailing dozens of members of the royal family, and extorting numerous prominent businessmen, 32-year-old Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman has widened his so-called 'corruption' probe further still.

The Wall Street Journal reports that at least two dozen military officers, including multiple commanders, recently have been rounded up in connection to the Saudi government’s sweeping corruption investigation, according to two senior advisers to the Saudi government.

Additionally, several prominent businessmen also were taken in by Saudi authorities in recent days.

A number of businessmen including Loai Nasser, Mansour al-Balawi, Zuhair Fayez and Abdulrahman Fakieh also were rounded up in recent days, the people said.

Attempts to reach the businessmen or their associates were unsuccessful.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would observe that these arrests of Saudi military are to consolidate power absolutely, so there is not a one of his COs who will not be behind him, one hundred percent, ultimately, for a strike against Iran.

I would like to hope that some of his trusted advisors have at least mentioned that this will most probably mean a war against Russia as well, as Russian military and civilian leadership have consistently stated that should Iran be attacked militarily, Russia will come to its aid.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned Russian nationals about possible terrorist attacks in large European and American cities during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. A statement to this effect was made by the ministry’s Crisis Management Center Department on Friday.

"There is a high probability of terrorist attacks in big cities in Europe and the United States during the New Year holidays from December 20 to January 20," the ministry tweeted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am hoping to heck that the Russian Foreign Ministry's Crisis Management Center Department is absolutely wrong; unfortunately, however, the Deep State of the Occupied, Unhinged, Surveilled States of Amerika is desperate for some kind of horrific crisis (read: domestic or international false flag) around which to galvanize public opinion about who is the villain du jour is, and that whatever country it is, it needs to be militarily whacked about the head and shoulders for "having been so evil" as to have done that.

Senators propose 'USA Liberty Act' to reauthorize NSA surveillance

The question of how to reign in monitoring enabled by Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) has been in the spotlight ever since the Edward Snowden PRISM revelations. What exactly to do about it has gone back and forth, but the latest attempt to "reform" surveillance is here in the form of the USA Liberty Act, a bipartisan proposal introduced by Senators Mike Lee and Patrick Leahy (PDF). The Washington Post figures it has little chance of passage, however, it does contain language that would make government agencies get a warrant before searching information collected by the NSA under Section 702.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I love the irony and hipocrsy of the title of this legislation; and the serious question which must be asked is, does this legislation actually make us more safe, or simply provide a conduit for surveilling evey bit ofminutiae in our lives?!?

I would politely suggest that it accomplishes the latter, but not the former, and for good reason.

The fastest way to get any kind of terrorism away from the US, or US interests, would be to stop mucking about in other peoples' countries; expropriating resources to which the US government, and the corporations which own, it have utterly no moral right; and insisting that those resources ony be purchased with US petrodollars.

You're welcome, FBI, CIA, DHS, and NSA! :-)

Trump to be presented with $47M deal to arm Ukraine against Russia

President Donald Trump will be presented with the recommendation to finance and sell anti-tank missiles to the Ukrainian government — a move aimed at deterring aggression from pro-Russian separatists, a State Department official told ABC News.

The National Security Council decided during a meeting on Tuesday to greenlight the presentation of a $47 million grant package to the Ukrainian government to purchase American defense arms, including the powerful Javelin anti-tank missiles.

The president and Congress must approve the sale of anti-tank missiles. The Javelin, a portable missile with a steep price-tag, has been described as "The American Military's Anti-Tank Killer."

Webmaster's Commentary:

NO, ABC, this was not a "popular uprising"; can you manage, for one millisecond, not to be regurgitating the official government line, and tell the truth here?!?

This was a US sponsored putsch, which threw Yanukovych under the proverbial bus, and "annointed" the Western-centric darling of the moment, Poroshenko, as president, in an election more crooked than a dog's hind leg.

President Obama himself admitted this in an interview in 2015:

Washington Was Behind Ukraine Coup: Obama admits that US “Brokered a Deal” in Support of “Regime Change”

And to the "author" of this piece of stinking codswallop; When ABC's "alleged journalists" continue to lie like this, then wonder why their ratings and credibility are well and truly flushed, they have no one to blame but themselves!!

TURKISH PRESIDENT ERDOGAN ACCUSES US OF SUPPORTING ISIS

Turkey’s president said, “The administration in the United States has changed but everything remains the same as before.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the United States of granting financial aid to members of the Islamic State group, a State Department-listed terrorist organization.

“The United States has disappointed us a lot, saying that it fights Daesh (the Islamic State group) but in reality, it gave them a lot of support,” said the head of state at a meeting of the Justice and Development Party, AKP, the ruling party of Turkey.

Russia has made the similar remarks on several occasions.

The Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zajarova, said that some testimonies indict the U.S. military and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, for supporting the Islamic State group in Afghanistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Erdogan and the Russian Spokesperson, Zajarova, are both correct in their observations.

We had a caller into the show yesterday, a gentleman named Roy, who is a wounded Iraq War Veteran, who joined the US military at 18 right after 9/11. He expressed both his disbelief and displeasure at the reality that the US military was providing money, equipment, and training to our alleged "enemies" in the Middle East, just for the purpose of destabilizing countries even further, thus insuring that Middle Eastern oil was only sold in US dollars, and was only going through, and sold to US-approved vendors.

Both ISIS and the Kurds have been proxy groups, used by a succession of US administrations to terrorize various elements in Afghanistan and the Middle East, and prevent, wherever possible, a peaceful resolution to geopolitical problems.

SHOCKING CDC TESTS REVEAL 3,800 US WATER SUPPLIES UP TO 400% MORE CONTAMINATED THAN FLIN

For years there has been an ongoing debate about the levels of lead that have been found in the drinking water in Flint, Michigan, but recent studies have shown that water conditions are just as bad in many other areas throughout the country.

In fact, Reuters recently published neighborhood-level blood lead testing results from 34 states, as well as Washington DC, which were collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The results showed that 3,810 neighborhood areas have levels of lead that are at least double those seen in Flint. Close to half of these sites had levels that were actually four times as high as those in Flint.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The fact that this issue of contaminated water has not been vigorously addressed, does not surprise me; there has been a gradual lack of focus on American infrastructure in favor of more bombs and bullets with which the US government ferociously attempts to mandate its will on the rest of the world, while the health and well-being of American citizens... has become irrelevant.

USAID AND WALL STREET: CONFLICTS, COUPS, AND CONQUEST

In 1928 when the US-based United Fruit Company – now known as Chiquita Brands International – faced labor issues in Colombia, it had at its disposal Colombian troops which gunned down hundreds of strikers to maintain production and profits.

Ensuring that Colombia protected “American interests” was the US State Department who hosted company representatives at the US embassy in Bogotá, which in turn was in contact with Washington.

The United Fruit Company’s actions in Colombia was far from an isolated incident. US Marine Corps General Smedley Butler would write a book regarding his personal, first-hand experience in fighting wars on multiple continents for oil companies, bankers, and fruit companies.

Nearly a century ago large corporate interests already possessed full control over the mechanisms of American governance, determining its domestic and foreign policy, and readily using the nation’s military might for their own personal gain across the globe.

SHERIFF THINKS HE CAN USE BOGUS DISORDERLY CONDUCT CHARGES TO SHUT DOWN SPEECH HE DOESN'T LIKE

This is stupid on every single level. First off, as former police officer and current attorney Greg Prickett points out in his post at Simple Justice, there's no way those charges would stick. Sheriff, that's political speech, and it's protected speech. You don't get to silence it because you don't like it, or even because it offends you, the District Attorney, or anyone else. FDA, DEA LAUNCH MASSIVE ASSAULT ON KRATOM – DRUG WAR FOR MIRACLE PLANT RAMPING UP

To no one’s surprise, the U.S. government, after hysterically declaring a “national emergency” over America’s opioid crisis, is once again setting its sights on Kratom, the non-addictive natural plant that has helped thousands of Americans wean themselves off opioids. In 2015, the DEA announced its plans to place Kratom on the list of Controlled Substances (in the same scheduling level as heroin to be exact) but, amid public outcry, the agency backed off, deferring to FDA “review” and “advice.” Many optimistic Kratom activists were tempted to rest on their laurels, trusting that the FDA would prove to be more reasonable in relation to Kratom and hoping the testimonials, overwhelming public support for Kratom, and the science itself would win the day.

Alaska Prepares For War With North Korea: Missiles Will Take Only 20 Minutes To Reach The State - Mac Slavo

The state of Alaska is preparing for a potential war with North Korea. The Alaskans are being urged not to evacuate, though should Kim Jong-Un launch a missile toward Alaska, it would only take 20 minutes to get there.

Emergency planners in Alaska have warned it will not attempt evacuations if a warhead is fired because time would not be on their side. Jeremy Zidek, from the state’s disaster planning team, will urge locals to find shelter rather than risk being caught in the open. He also urged families to have an emergency stash of food and water, flashlights and radios, and medical supplies including the anti-radiation pill Prussian Blue – medication that lessens the radiological impacts on your body.

The Last Time These 3 Ominous Signals Appeared Simultaneously Was Just Before The Last Financial Crisis - Michael Snyder

We have not seen a “leadership reversal”, a “Hindenburg Omen” and a “Titanic Syndrome signal” all appear simultaneously since just before the last financial crisis. Does this mean that a stock market crash is imminent? Not necessarily, but as I have been writing about quite a bit recently, the markets are certainly primed for one. On Wednesday, the Dow fell another 138 points, and that represented the largest single day decline that we have seen since September. Much more importantly, the downward trend that has been developing over the past week appears to be accelerating. Just take a look at this chart. Could we be right on the precipice of a major move to the downside?

John Hussman certainly seems to think so. He is the one that pointed out that we have not seen this sort of a threefold sell signal since just before the last financial crisis. The following comes from Business Insider…

Identity of Secret Informant In FBI’s Clinton Probe Unveiled

More information about the Congressional probes into the Obama-era Uranium One deal leaked out Thursday when Reuters reported that Senate Republicans say their investigation into the Clinton’s role in approving the deal largely hinges on the testimony of a secret informant who was until recently the subject of a federal gag order.

But a month after Trump asked the DOJ to lift the gag order - a command that the DOJ promptly obeyed - the man has decided to speak out publicly for the first time in an interview with Reuters.

His name is Christopher Campbell, and was formerly a lobbyist for Tenex, the US-based arm of Rosatom, the Russian government’s nuclear agency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I sure hope to heck this guy doesn't "get depressed", or start flying in small airplanes; I would imagine that his testimony will be the lynchpin for any possible indictment of Hillary Clinton.

Saudi Arabia Offers Arrested Royals A Deal: Your Freedom For Lots Of Cash

As we noted shortly after the Crown Prince’s purge of potential rivals within Saudi Arabia’s sprawling ruling family, while the dozens of arrests were made under the pretext of an "anti-corruption crackdown", Mohammed bin Salman’s ulterior motive was something else entirely: Replenishing the Kingdom’s depleted foreign reserves, which have been hammered for the past three years by low oil prices, with some estimating that the current purge could potentially bring in up to $800 billion in proceeds.

Furthermore, the geopolitical turmoil unleashed by the unprecedented crackdown helped push oil prices higher, creating an ancillary benefit for both the kingdom’s rulers and the upcoming IPO of Aramco.

And, in the latest confirmation that the crackdown was all about cash, the Financial Times reports today that the Saudi government has offered the new occupants of the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton a way out.... and it’s going to cost them: In some cases, as much as 70% of their net worth.

Israel is ready to share intelligence on Iran with Saudi Arabia – IDF chief

The chief of staff of Israel's military (IDF) told Saudi Alaf newspaper in an unprecedented interview that his country is ready to share intelligence on Iran with Riyadh.
"With President Donald Trump, there is an opportunity for a new international alliance in the region and a major strategic plan to stop the Iranian threat," Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told the paper. "We are ready to exchange experiences with moderate Arab countries and exchange intelligence to confront Iran."

When asked whether Israel has recently share intelligence with Saudi Arabia, Eisenkot responded by saying: "We are ready to share information if necessary. There are many common interests between us..."

Revealed – Saudis Plan to Give Up Palestine – For War on Iran

The left-wing Lebanese paper Al-Akhbar has obtained a copy of the plan (Arabic) in form of a memorandum by the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir to the Saudi clown prince Mohammed Bin Salman (English machine translation):

The document, which is being unveiled for the first time, proves all that has been leaked since President Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia last May on the launch of US efforts to sign a peace treaty between Saudi Arabia and Israel. This was followed by information on the exchange of visits between Riyadh and Tel Aviv, the most important being the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to the Zionist entity. The document reveals the size of concessions that Riyadh intends to present in the context of the liquidation of the Palestinian issue, and its concern to get in return the elements of power against Iran and the resistance, led by Hezbollah.

The Saudi foreign ministry memo starts by laying out its strategic perspective:

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, this report is true, Palestinian leadership has to understand the level and depth to which they have been deceived and betrayed, by Saudi, American, and Israeli leadership.

Bahrain says deadly bus attack engineered by Iran

Bahrain said on Wednesday a bomb attack on a police bus which killed an officer and wounded nine last month was carried out by a militant cell trained by its arch-foe Iran.

After authorities quashed Shi‘ite Muslim-led ”Arab Spring” protests on the Sunni-ruled island in 2011, militants have launched deadly bombing and shooting attacks against security forces that Bahrain blames on Tehran’s Shi‘ite theocracy.

Iran denies any role in Bahrain’s unrest.

There was no immediate Iranian reaction to Wednesday’s Bahraini interior ministry statement, which added that authorities had arrested one member of the cell while others were fugitives in Iran.

“The terrorist cell received extensive training in Iranian Revolutionary Guard camps on the use and manufacture of explosives and firearms, as well as material and logistical support,” the ministry said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And of course, the Sunni government of Bahrain, with a human rights record just to the right of that of Attila the Hun, couldn't possibly have any of its predominanly Shiite population be the least bit upset, whatsoever, at its complete repression of its citizens' basic human rights, could it?!?

The Bahrainis LOVE their government, particularly as it tortures confessions out of peaceful protestors who are simply asking for a constitutional monarchy; throws them into prisons for inordinantely long sentences for crimes they did not commit; and denies their humanity, simply because they practice a different version of Islam than that of the Al Khalifa monarchy.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong here, with these horrifically lousy situations, except everything?!?

Looks as though geopolitically, when in doubt these days, and people don't want to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions, the game here is, blame Iran, or blame Russia!!

China sending special envoy to North Korea days after Trump's visit

Following President Trump’s visit to Beijing, China said Wednesday that it would send a high-level special envoy to North Korea amid an extended chill in relations between the neighbors over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.

Song Tao, the head of China’s ruling Communist Party’s International Department, will travel to Pyongyang on Friday to report on outcomes of the party’s national congress held last month, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

Xinhua said Song, as president and party leader Xi Jinping’s special envoy, would carry out a “visit” in addition to delivering his report, but gave no details about his itinerary or meetings. It also made no mention of Trump’s trip to Beijing or the North’s weapons programs, although Trump has repeatedly called on Beijing to do more to use its influence to pressure Pyongyang into altering its behavior.

17 million in Yemen need food - now hospitals and water pumps will run out of fuel in three weeks

THE UNITED NATIONS warned today that fuel supplies needed to run Yemen’s hospital generators and pump clean water will run out in less than three weeks unless the Saudi-led coalition lifts its blockade.
The dire forecast came as Yemen battles one of the world’s worst outbreaks of cholera, with nearly one million people infected. Some 2,200 people have died.
Adding to the woes of aid workers on the ground, stocks of diphtheria vaccines will be emptied in two weeks unless aid deliveries are once again allowed in the country, UN spokesman Farhan Haq said.

The Saudi-led military coalition shut down Yemen’s sea and air ports as well as borders on 6 November in response to a missile attack by the Iran-backed Huthi rebels near Riyadh.

UN aid chief Mark Lowcock warned last week that unless the blockade was lifted, Yemen will face “the largest famine the world has seen for many decades, with millions of victims.”

US to Continue Refueling Saudi Warplanes During Yemen Attacks

The US Air Force plans to keep refueling Saudi Arabian warplanes committing atrocities in Yemen that have led to the world’s most pressing humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations.
The US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in support of House Resolution 599 Monday, passing the measure by a vote of 366-30. The bipartisan bill does not prevent US tankers from providing fuel to Saudi warplanes but does call for a political solution to the crisis, which House Democrats apparently saw as a compromise.

"Compromise", MY ASTROLABE!!

It is financially very profitable for the US merchants of death to continue to supply Saudi Arabia with the bombs and bullets which kill, and maim for life, innocent infants, toddlers, women, and the medically fragile elderly.

These same corporations, the heads of which have all had their consciences surgically removed before taking office, contribute generously to both parties, so why shouldn't the assassinations of Yemeni innocents continue, as long as they are profitable?!? That is the only thing that matters anymore in American society, profitability, right?!?

Here is what that "profitability" is looking like to Yemeni kids these days:

Mitchell assures Poroshenko about U.S. readiness to increase price for Moscow if aggression continues

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Aaron Wess Mitchell. The men discussed a wide variety of issues about bilateral Ukraine-U.S. ties, including efforts to support Ukraine in restoring its territorial integrity.

"Mitchell confirmed readiness to continue supporting efforts of Ukraine to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity and, if necessary, to raise the price Moscow would pay for continuing aggression against the Ukrainian state," the Ukrainian president's website said on Wednesday.

"The sides emphasized the importance of new approaches and bold initiatives for the fleshing out of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States - from the enhanced interaction in politics, trade, economy and energy to the strengthening of the partnership between the countries in the area of defense and security," the press service said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Washington Was Behind Ukraine Coup: Obama admits that US “Brokered a Deal” in Support of “Regime Change”

The article goes on to state:

"US President Barack Obama revealed the United States’ involvement in the Ukrainian crisis from its outset and admitted that the United States “had brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine.”

US President Barack Obama’s recent interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakiria reveals the United States’ involvement in the Ukrainian crisis from its outset and that the country worked directly with Ukrainian right-wing fascist groups, experts told Sputnik.

On Sunday, in his interview with CNN, Obama admitted that the United States “had brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine.”

“Obama’s statement is reiterating something that the world public opinion already knew — the US was involved in the coup of [ex-Ukrainian President] Viktor Yanukovych from the start. History shows us that the US has overthrown numerous governments in Latin America, Asia and Africa and replaced them with leaders that ruled with a fascist ideology that proved useful for Washington’s geopolitical interests,” independent researcher and writer Timothy Alexander Guzman told Sputnik.

Yanukovych’s decision to not sign an association agreement with the European Union in late 2013 triggered a mass wave of protests across Ukraine, culminating in the February 2014 coup. Following the transition of power, Kiev forces launched a military operation against those who refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new government."

What Crimea did, when they understood that there was no more legitimate government in Kiev, was to hold a referendum, asking its people if they wanted to stay with the regime-changed Ukraine, or petition the Russian Federation to become a member. Overwhelmlingly, in a free and fair referendum, they voted to petition the Russian Federation to become a member, and the Russian Federation accepted their request.

There was no "Russian annexation of Crimea" whatsoever; but the Crimean referendum was never accepted by the US or the West, hence, Russia got, and continues to get, punished for something it never did, period, end of discussion.

DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE COMPANY PAID MERCENARIES TO BUILD CONSPIRACY LAWSUIT AGAINST ENVIRONMENTALISTS

THE PRIVATE SECURITY firm TigerSwan, hired by Energy Transfer Partners to protect the controversial Dakota Access pipeline, was paid to gather information for what would become a sprawling conspiracy lawsuit accusing environmentalist groups of inciting the anti-pipeline protests in an effort to increase donations, three former TigerSwan contractors told The Intercept.

For months, a conference room wall at TigerSwan’s Apex, North Carolina, headquarters was covered with a web-like map of funding nodes the firm believed it had uncovered — linking billionaire backers to nonprofit organizations to pipeline opponents protesting at Standing Rock. It was a “showpiece” for board members and ETP executives, according to a former TigerSwan contractor — part of a project that had little to do with the pipeline’s physical security.

FDA Approves New Digital Sensor To Ensure "Patients With Mental Health Issues" Take Their Meds

It will “ensure” that patients who suffer from mental health issues take their medicine when they are told. But privacy concerns have not gone unnoticed.

Regulators in the United States have approved the first pill that can be digitally tracked as it makes its way through the human body. The Abilify MyCite aripiprazole tablets used for treating schizophrenia and manic episodes have an ingestible sensor embedded inside them that records that the medication has been taken. A patch worn by the patient transmits this information to their smartphone.

But many are raising the red flag that this could simply be another form of medical “big brother.” You may no longer have the right to refuse medications in the very near future.

The Abilify MyCite features a sensor the size of a grain of sand made of silicon, copper, and magnesium. An electrical signal is activated when the sensor comes into contact with stomach acid - the sensor then passes through the body naturally.

Libya's Slave Auctions And African Genocide: What Hillary Knew

A new CNN investigation has uncovered a network of slave markets operating in warehouses in various cities across Libya six years after NATO-led intervention in the country toppled the government of Muammar Gaddafi in support of US and UK backed rebels. And not only did CNN confirm the presence of slave auctions where human beings are being sold for as little as $400 in "liberated" Libya, but CNN's crew was actually able to film a live auction in progress, while also gathering the testimonies of multiple victims.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh, it can be aptly said that Secretary of State Clinton does, really, care about people; that is, if they had the serious money enabling them to "pay to play", and receive diplomatic favors from her.

Clinton understood what was going to happen, but she allowed it to happen to these people, because from her perspective, those enslaved Libyans were simply the counterparts of the US nationals she characterized as "deplorables"; poor, uneducated, and victims of their fate because they have been "gamed" by the very Libyan rebels she had supported.

Saudi-Israeli Collusion? Is Israel Seeking Role as Leader of the Sunni Bloc?

Israel has instructed its overseas embassies to lobby their respective host countries in support of Saudi Arabia and its apparent efforts to destabilise Lebanon, a recently leaked diplomatic cable shows.

The cable appears to be the first formal confirmation of rumours that Israel and Saudi Arabia are colluding to stoke tensions in the region.

Sent by the Israeli foreign ministry and disclosed by Israel’s Channel 10 news this week, the cable demanded that diplomats stress Iran and Hezbollah’s engagement in “regional subversion”.

That closely echoes accusations Riyadh levelled against Tehran and the Lebanese faction in recent days.

Analysts have noted that diplomatic moves by Israel to intervene directly in a seemingly internal Arab matter are “very rare”.

Yossi Alpher, a former adviser to Ehud Barak when he was Israeli prime minister, called the cable “extremely presumptuous”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You have to remember that Netanyahu is facing a bribery/corruption charge at home. this makes him a very politically vulnerable "wounded animal" in Israeli politics, and and all wounded animals are dangerous.

This new purge by Prince Salman may have been interpreted by Netanyahu as a "the enemy of my enemy (Iran/Hezbullah) is my friend" moment, to further factionalize the Middle East, and potentially give him the momentum to attack both Lebanon and Iran, to misdirect political attention away from his corruption issues, and toward those countries which have been declared Israel's "existential enemies" in the region.

ISRAEL USES U.S. TAX DOLLARS TO ABUSE PALESTINIAN CHILDREN. THIS BILL WOULD PUT AN END TO THAT.

CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS are frequent victims of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories. They face physical abuse by Israeli military forces and are shuffled through an unfair court system without access to legal counsel or even their parents.

The United States has long subsidized these abuses, giving billions of dollars in military aid to Israel every year. Now, a group of Democratic members of Congress is saying enough is enough.

Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., and nine co-sponsors on Tuesday introduced legislation that would require the U.S. State Department to certify every year that American military aid is not being used to fund the systematic abuse of Palestinian children.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Good on all the sponsors of this bill; unfortunately, however, I would politely suggest that, due to the direct pressure from AIPAC and Israel (and why are members of AIPAC not required to register as representatives of a foreign country, BTW?!?), this bill has as much likelihood of passing as do pigs discovering that they are aerodynamic.

Netanyahu: Israel Will Act Alone to Force Iran Out of Syria

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the most recent ceasefire announcement did not involve any commitment for Russia to force Iran out of Syria, saying that Iran can maintain a legitimate presence in Syria.

This isn’t sitting well with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who urged the world to unite and force Iran out of Syria at all costs. Now, he’s saying Israel is prepared to act alone to ensure Iran has no permanent presence there.

The narrative of Iran even wanting a “permanent” presence in Syria seems to be more or less wholly an Israeli creation, based on reports of building at a Syrian military facility somehow being extrapolated to it being an “Iranian base.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel's Netanyahu has just declared war on Syria.

But of course, in light of the reality that Netanyahu's corruption trial is about to move forward,
Netanyahu to see bribery charges, what can one reasonably expect him to do, sit down and hum "Kumbiya"?!?

He is a politically wounded animal at this point; and politically wounded animals are highly dangerous.

Do not rule out some incredibly brazen Israeli military actions against Iran, Lebanon, or Syria, at this point, and rather immediately.

House Passes $700 Billion Military Spending Bill

The House and Senate had some differences on the 2018 military spending bill, but reached a compromise last week. The House passed this $700 billion spending and policy bill Tuesday with a 356-70 vote.

The bill includes $634 billion for “core operations,” and $66 billion in Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO). The OCO budget is notoriously used by the Pentagon to shift money around to various programs as officials see fit without having to ask Congress to fund them.

This massive bill is the culmination of months of officials trying to outspend one another, with President Trump proposing what he described as one of the biggest increases ever, followed by both houses of Congress outdoing that, and then trying to outdo each other.

This bill includes funding for myriad new research schemes, including the possibility of creating a new Space Corps and fighting wars in space. It also attempts to assert more Armed Services Committee oversight over military cyber operations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We have reached a phase in American governance where US legislators no longer represent their alleged constituents; they only represent the corporations which own them, and a large swathe of them are from the military/industrial complex.

I am sure that many of these CEOS are absolutely and thoroughly delighted in how their current "legislative assets" have paid off, royally, for them.

Hillary Clinton PERSONALLY Overturned Visa Ban for Islamist Figure Now Accused of Rape

European Islamist scion Tariq Ramadan was banned from the U.S. by the Bush administration in February 2004 for his financial support of a charity that funded terrorist groups. In January 2010, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton overturned that ban. Clinton personally approved a visa for the controversial grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Now, Tariq Ramadan is facing multiple accusations of rape and sexual assault of minors.

Hillary Clinton's visa for Tariq Ramadan was seen as part of the new Obama administration policy of embracing more hardcore Islamists.

The New York Times reported in 2010:

Six years after using the Patriot Act to revoke the visa of a prominent Muslim academic, the United States State Department reversed itself and said Wednesday that it would no longer bar the scholar from entering the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF in fact this report is true, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise.

When you look at the countries from which the Clinton Foundation routinely took money, the following would leap out at you:

Mrs. Clinton commemorates her 1995 women’s rights speech in Beijing in back-to-back events in New York, she finds herself under attack for her family foundation’s acceptance of millions of dollars in donations from Middle Eastern countries known for violence against women and for denying them many basic freedoms.

Saudi alliance bombs Sanaa airport, blocking aid access

Houthi officials told Al Jazeera two air strikes targeted Sanaa's international airport in the rebel-held capital early on Tuesday, making it unusable for aid flights and further complicating humanitarian efforts into the country.

"This attack is intended to cause maximum damage and deprive millions of Yemenis from receiving life-saving food and medicines," Mohammed, a Houthi official who declined to give his surname, said.

The Saudi-led coalition forced the closure of Sanaa airport in August 2016 to all but a few UN aid flights.

The Houthi-run General Authority for Civil Aviation said in a statement the air strike "led to the total destruction of the VOR/DME radio navigation system, taking it offline and thus halting the only flights at Sanaa airport - those of the UN and other international organisations delivering humanitarian assistance".

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am still rather surprised, after the aborted Houthi missile reaching Riadh ast week, that Saudi Arabia has just not hauled off and carpet bombed all of the major cities left standing in Yemen.

That might, however, be the next move on Prince Salman's part, in his ongoing frustration with the intense stalemate going on here in Yemen.

Saudi Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomes Lebanese Patriarch

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Lebanese Patriarch Bechara Boutros al Rahi, Tuesday, reported Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi king Salman bin Abdulaziz received earlier today the Lebanese Maronite Patriarch at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The meeting tackled brotherly relations between the Saudi kingdom and Lebanon and confirmed the importance of different religions and cultures in strengthening tolerance, rejecting violence, extremism and terrorism and achieving peace and security for the region’s people and the world.

A number of Saudi ministers including Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and Gulf Affairs Minister Thamer al-Sabhan attended the reception.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Great optics for the Prince; but I have to wonder why in the Sam Hill Lebanese Maronite Patriarch Al Rahi actually consented to meet with Prince Salman in the first place.

After all, Saudi Arabia is a country where the profession of Christianity is treated as a crime, potentially punishable by death.

The following article goes on to state:

"here are more than a million Roman Catholics in Saudi Arabia. Most of them are expatriate Filipinos who work there, but are not Saudi Arabian citizens.[1][6] The percentage of Christians of all denominations among the roughly 1.2 million Filipinos in Saudi Arabia likely exceeds 60%.[7] There are also Christians from Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Greece, South Korea, Ireland, the United Kingdom, India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and as well a number of Christians from sub-Saharan countries who are working in the Saudi Kingdom.[7]

Saudi Arabia allows Christians to enter the country as foreign workers for temporary work, but does not allow them to practice their faith openly.

Because of that Christians generally only worship within private homes.[7] Items and articles belonging to religions other than Islam are prohibited.[7] These include Bibles, crucifixes, statues, carvings, items with religious symbols, and others.[7]

The Saudi Arabian Mutaween (Arabic: مطوعين‎‎), or Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (i.e., the religious police) prohibits the practice of any religion other than Islam.[7] Conversion of a Muslim to another religion is considered apostasy,[7] a crime punishable by death if the accused does not recant. There have been no confirmed reports of executions for either crime in modern times.

[7] The Government does not permit non-Muslim clergy to enter the country for the purpose of conducting religious services.[7] In spite of this, a 2015 study estimates that there are some 60,000 Christians with a Muslim background living in the country, though that does not mean that all of those are citizens of the country.[8]

International Christian Concern (ICC) protested what it reported as the 2001 detention of 11 Christians in Saudi Arabia, for practicing their religion in their homes.[9] In June 2004, at least 46 Christians were arrested in what the ICC described as a "pogrom-like" action by Saudi police. The arrests took place shortly after the media reported that a Quran had been desecrated in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.[10]

Christians and other non-Muslims are prohibited from entering the cities of Mecca and Medina, Islam's holiest cities.[7]"

Jeff Sessions: 'Not enough basis' for special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton

Jeff Sessions on Tuesday said there was “not enough basis” to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton, a day after reports surfaced that the attorney general had authorized senior prosecutors at the Department of Justice to evaluate an inquiry into the Clinton Foundation.

Testifying before the House judiciary committee, Sessions also appeared to push back on Donald Trump’s repeated insistence that the FBI should focus on investigating Clinton as opposed to potential collusion between his own presidential campaign and Russia.

“The Department of Justice can never be used to retaliate politically against opponents. That would be wrong,” Sessions said when asked about Trump’s tweets calling on the DoJ to investigate his former rival in the 2016 presidential race.

“The president speaks his mind. He is bold and direct about what he says,” Sessions added. “We do our duty every day based on the facts.”

How the Developments in Saudi Arabia May Foretell Collapse of Petrodollar

Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman has vowed to return his country to "moderate Islam"; the pledge was followed by the dismissal and detainment of many of the country's high-profile princes and businessmen. Turkish energy analyst Dr Volkan Ozdemir commented that it is not about politics but rather about economics and petrodollars.

In his interview with Sputnik Turkiye, Volkan Ozdemir, the Chairman of Ankara-based EPPEN (Institute for Energy Markets and Policies), said that Riyadh is possibly cleaning out the opponents to the oil trade in US dollars and the changes the country is currently living through could be viewed as part of the US' attempt to fight against a strengthening China.

Webmaster's Commentary:

China and Russia are already bypassing the dollar as their financial medium of exchange in a number of transactions, and this appears to be becoming a trend, particularly with the BRIC countries; the US government certainly does not want to see that trend accelerated, and will do everything within its power to stop it, including waging war.

Psychiatrist: US Doesn't Need People 'Hearing Voices' Leading Troops Into Battle

The US army has expanded its waivers for recruits with a history of particular mental health issues. People with a history of self-injuring, bipolar disorder, depression and addiction are now free to sign up. Dr. Elspeth Ritchie, a former chief psychiatrist in the army explained why such a decision has been made and what the risks of it are.
Sputnik: What’s your general take on the reports? Is there any reason for concern or is it rather a victory for people who have had historical mental disorders?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Damascus: Uninvited US Presence in Syria Constitutes Act of Aggression

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has commented on the remarks by the Pentagon chiefs who said that the presence of the United States in Syria had been approved by the United Nations as Washington is fighting Daesh terrorists.
On Tuesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry commented on US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis' statements about the US presence in Syria, who said that US forces won't leave the Middle East country until they achieve their goals there.

"Syria once again declares that the presence of American forces or any other military presence in Syria without the consent of the Syrian government is an aggressive violation of Syria's sovereignty and a flagrant contravention of the UN's foundations," the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in response to Mattis.

Zimbabwe is on edge amid speculation that a military coup is in progress, with army tanks seen outside the capital a day after the army commander threatened to "step in" to calm political tensions over the president's firing of his vice president. The Associated Press said it saw three tanks with several soldiers in a convoy on a road heading toward an army barracks just outside the capital, Harare, while Reuters reported that four tanks were seen heading toward the capital.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A coup; or a coming civil war in Zimbabwe?!? Only time will tell how this will play out.

Bombshell Report Confirms US Coalition Struck A Deal With ISIS

At a moment of widespread acknowledgement that the short-lived Islamic State is no longer a reality, and as ISIS is about to be defeated by the Syrian Army in its last urban holdout of Abu Kamal City in eastern Syria, the US is signalling an open-ended military presence in Syria. On Monday Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon that the US is preparing for a long term military commitment in Syria to fight ISIS "as long as they want to fight."

Mattis indicated that even should ISIS loose all of its territory there would still be a dangerous insurgency that could morph into an "ISIS 2.0" which he said the US would seek to prevent. “The enemy hasn’t declared that they’re done with the area yet, so we’ll keep fighting as long as they want to fight,” Mattis said. “We’re not just going to walk away right now before the Geneva process has traction.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is apparent that, in Sec Def Mattis' weltanschauung, there is no such thing as a sovereign country whatsoever, and the US government and military have the "divine right" to build military bases where ever it sees fit, never mind the political will of the government which actually runs that country.

Has Al Assad gotten the memo on this, and almost as importantly, has Russia's Putin received the memo on this?!?

Is Mattis gaming for war against Russia in Syria?!? Because THAT... would, indeed, be a nasty turn of events, if true.

Yemen – Having Lost the War Saudis Try Genocide – Media Complicit

Fakenews:

Saudi Arabia ends its blockade of Yemen’s ports and airports – Daily Mail
Saudi-led coalition says will reopen Yemen ports – Anadolu
Yemeni ports to reopen for aid, says Saudi Arabia – Deutsche Welle

From the last link:

Saudi Arabia reacting to UN famine warnings says ports in Yemen it controls will reopen for aid deliveries. Riyadh shut them down last week after a missile attack blamed on Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Saudi Arabia, enabled by the US military, has been committing war crimes in Yemen over the last 3 years, and it is high time that the American public had a conversation about whether it wants its government to be continuing to commit war crimes, and aiding the Saudis in their genocide of Yemen.

Will America Survive Washington? Is the US Preparing a Nuclear First Strike on Russia?

Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznihir, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, stated at the Moscow International Security Conference that the Operations Command of the Russian General Staff has concluded that Washington is preparing a nuclear first strike on Russia.

The other is the report that the US is collecting Russian DNA for the US Air Force weapons laboratory, the implication being that the US intends to research if a bio-weapon can be created that only targets Russians.

As far as I can ascertain, neither of these startling developments were reported in the US media. One would think that the White House would have been on the telephone to Putin giving reassurances that the US is not planning a surprise nuclear attack on Russia. One would think that the publication of US contracts for Russian DNA and Putin’s public statement about it would have immediately resulted in President Trump ordering a halt to the Russian DNA project.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In the immortal words of the American commedian Ron White, "You can't fix stupid"; and indeed, stupid is what the US government, collectively appears to be stuck on right now, both in terms of domestic and international policies.

MIDEAST TURMOIL: FOLLOW THE OIL, FOLLOW THE MONEY

In this scenario, time is running out for Saudi Arabia's free-spending royalty and state - and for all the other free-spending oil exporters.

While there are numerous dynamics at work in the turmoil roiling Saudi Arabia and by extension, the Mideast, one way to cut to the chase is to follow the oil, follow the money. Correspondent B.D. recently posited a factor that has been largely overlooked in the geopolitical / fate-of-the-petrodollar discussions:

Perhaps the core dynamic is a technical one of diminished oil production. Here is Bart's commentary:

"I think the Saudis may be quickly running out of profitable oil to produce/export.

I think they tried to over-produce for a while to damage the competition... and they now have production issues resulting from that. (As has happened in the past)
