2005: CNN Host Christiane Amanpour Tells Assad US Looking For New Syrian Leader, Supporting “Opposition,” Preparing Coup

By Brandon Turbeville

By now, it is common knowledge among researchers and journalists focused on the Syrian crisis that the plan to destroy the Syrian government was not merely hatched in 2011 at the beginning of the physical crisis itself, but that it was part of a much older plan to eliminate all resistance to the world finance oligarchy. Indeed, not only did the plan go back further than 2011, its beginnings could be seen going all the way back to the 1980s.

One window into the coming destabilization came two years after the United States had invaded and destroyed Iraq for the same reason. Notoriously pro-war propagandist Christiane Amanpour sat down for an interview with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, during the course of which she alluded to the fact that the United States was planning on his overthrow...

AWYER ARRESTED FOR HOLOCAUST DISSENT IN KANSAS

An activist lawyer was taken away in handcuffs and held behind bars for 18 hours because he asked challenging questions and distributed flyers at a conference on the Holocaust. Bruce Leichty was arrested March 17 at a conference on "Mennonites and Holocaust" at Bethel College in Kansas, for which he had properly registered. Leichty, who lives and practices law in California, is a lifelong Mennonite. He served as immigration counsel to recently deceased Holocaust revisionists Ingrid Rimland Zundel, herself a former Mennonite, and her husband, Ernst Zundel. "I did nothing wrong and committed no crime," says Leichty. "I did not disrupt the conference in any way, and I was peaceable in all my interactions."

Thousands of stolen artifacts forfeited by Hobby Lobby return to Iraq

Thousands of artifacts stolen from Iraq and smuggled out of the country have been returned to the Iraqi government, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

A press release from the Department of Justice stated that approximately 3,800 artifacts were returned to the residence of Iraq's ambassador at a repatriation ceremony on Wednesday. The return of the artifacts comes after arts-and-crafts chain Hobby Lobby agreed to forfeit the artifacts as well as $3 million in civil penalties over the company's role in the smuggling scheme.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable!!!

And Hobby Lobby defines itself as a "Christian company"?!?

What Makes Hobby Lobby a Chiristian Company?!? Hint:
it is not a greed of mysoginy thing

How is it at all Christian to loot priceless artifacts from Iraq, then sell them for profit, being complicit in destroying a Muslim country's history and heritage?!? If this is not greed, then I do not understand the term at all.

And of course, no one goes to jail; the elite rarely eat their own.

Giuliani Calls Feds "Stormtroopers," But In 1995, George H. W. Bush Quit NRA In Outrage After Its VP Compared Federal Agents To " Storm Troopers"

"I was outraged when, even in the wake of the Oklahoma City tragedy, Mr. Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of N.R.A., defended his attack on federal agents as "jack-booted thugs." To attack Secret Service agents or A.T.F. people or any government law enforcement people as "wearing Nazi bucket helmets and black storm trooper uniforms - wanting to "attack law abiding citizens - is a vicious slander on good people..." Lavrov: Ukraine lost its independence

The Russian top diplomat comments on the situation in Ukraine

Ukraine has actually lost its independence and national economy due to the internal crisis provoked by some Western countries led by the US, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Italy’s Panorama magazine.

"For many years, attempts were made to force Kiev to make a false choice, ‘either with us or against us,’ between the development of cooperation in the East or in the West, which has eventually resulted in the collapse of the Ukrainian statehood, which has never been particularly strong. The result as of today is the de facto loss of independence, people’s suffering, the collapse of the country’s economy, which had every opportunity to become one of Europe’s most stable and strong," he said.

According to Russia’s top diplomat, "a group of Western states led by the US who consider the entire world a sphere of their influence...">>>

Rudy Giuliani Says Trump Paid Cohen Back For $130K Stormy Hush Money. Trump Denied Knowing.

On Fox News tonight, Rudy Giuliani shared some jaw-dropping things.

Sean Hannity sounds shocked, as you can hear for yourself in this video clip--he says “I didn't know that” when Giuliani reveals that Donald Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen for the $130,000 paid to silence Stormy Daniels.

You know what's so crazy? Giuliani wasn't even asked. He just blurted it all out.

Giuliani tells Hannity that Donald Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen for that $130,000 paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels, which Giuliani said tonight means no campaign violations were committed, which who knows.

Giuliani said the money was “funnelled through a law firm.”

FLASHBACK - A GALLERY OF FAKE DEAD BIN LADENS

First off, whoever was killed in that house was not shot by any US forces!

Pakistan actually shot the man claimed to be bin Laden.

At about 1:20 a.m. local time a Pakistani helicopter was shot down by unknown people in the Sikandarabad area of Abbotabad. The Pakistani forces launched a search operation in the nearby area and encountered with a group of unknown armed people. A fire exchange followed between the two sides.
When the fire exchange ended, the Pakistani forces arrested some Arab women and kids as well some other armed people who later confessed to the Pakistani forces they were with someone they thought was Osama Bin laden when the fire was exchanged and "Bin Laden" was killed in the firing.

Fr. Coughlin explains the Federal Reserve, 1940: This privately owned corporation 'thrives on misery' and is 'leading this country into chaos'

Fr. Coughlin begins "On December 23, 1913- 27 years ago- a Federal Reserve Act was approved by the Congress of the United States. This Act permitted bankers to establish a bankers' bank- or, to be more precise, 12 bankers' banks situated one in each regional division of the United States of America... In other words, the Federal Reserve Banking System is a privately owned corporation. It is not a Government owned corporation as some persons believe. ...It is both amusing and alarming to learn that not only some factory workers but also some professional and business men labor under the impression that the Federal Reserve banking system is a Government owned corporation."

Hoisting the false flag

BRAVE GUATEMALAN air force pilots rebelled against a leftist regime in 1954 and used their planes to bomb the regime’s bases. Army commanders also rebelled; Guatemalans could hear them directing troop movements over the radio. Finally these patriots won their revolution. The United States trumpeted their victory around the world.

This was a “false flag” operation — staged by one force but made to look as if someone else did it. Planes that bombed targets in Guatemala were painted with Guatemalan air force insignia, but the pilots were CIA contractors. Radio messages about troop movements had been pre-recorded at a CIA base in Florida. A revolution that seemed to be emerging from one country, Guatemala, was actually the project of another, the United States.

The CIA Gives a Highly Sanitized View of Gina Haspel While Keeping Her Torture Record Secret

While the CIA has said that it is “committed to transparency,” it has so far only granted senators — and not the public — access to some classified information about Haspel. Last week, the CIA disclosed a 2011 memo — written by a former CIA official with a record of excusing torture — which supposedly cleared Haspel of responsibility for the destruction of evidence documenting the brutal torture of a man in CIA custody in 2002. But the CIA shouldn’t get to cherry-pick which documents it will declassify — while hiding the most important torture records.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, has also pushed back against the agency’s handling of Haspel’s nomination and requested a copy of a special prosecutor’s report that addressed the destruction of evidence of torture.

America's Jews Are Driving America's Wars

UPDATE: On the morning of September 21st Phil Giraldi was fired over the phone by The American Conservative, where he had been a regular contributor for fourteen years. He was told that “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars” was unacceptable. The TAC management and board appear to have forgotten that the magazine was launched with an article by founder Pat Buchanan entitled “Whose War?” which largely made the same claims that Giraldi made about the Jewish push for another war, in that case with Iraq. Buchanan was vilified and denounced as an anti-Semite by many of the same people who are now similarly attacking Giraldi.

Is This The Collapse You Ordered…?

The Romans had their own version of a financialized economy: they simply devalued their coins by mixing in less and less silver at the mint, so they could pretend to pay for the same luxuries they had grown accustomed to as resources stretched thin. Our financialized economy — like everything else we do — operates at levels of complexity so baffling that even its supposed managers at the central banks are flying blind through fogs of debt, deception, and moral hazard. When that vessel of pretense slams into a mountain top, the effects are likely to be quick and lethal to the economies on the ground below.

The End Of Our Empire Approaches -- History is clear on where we're headed

But what happens when the economic pie is no longer expanding, yet the keepers of the system seem unable to turn off their own desires to grab more, more and yet more from that same pie? That is where we find ourselves today. The economic oxygen is being sucked from the middle and lower classes and the social and political pressures are building. Meanwhile more and more claims (currency and debts) are being piled on top of this stagnant economic pie thereby increasing the pressure on a creaking system. Someday that all gives way rather spectacularly and ends very badly. History says it ends with a lot of social anarchy and quite possibly another world war.

'Oswald's KGB handler': New JFK docs fill in some blanks on events around assassination

Just months before President John F. Kennedy was gunned down in Texas almost 55 years ago, an FBI field agent sent word back to headquarters on the activities of a Soviet sympathizer named Lee Harvey Oswald.

FBI agent James P. Hosty Jr. wrote to Washington that Oswald “reportedly drank to excess and beat his wife on numerous occasions.”

The memo, dated Sept. 30, 1963, is one of the 19,045 documents released Thursday in what was supposed to be the end of a declassification process that began the year after the Kennedy killing. A law signed in 1992 put it on a 25-year schedule to completion.

But after boasting on Twitter last year that he would release all the JFK assassination documents, President Donald Trump backpedaled last October, giving the CIA and FBI six months to work through the lifting of information still shrouded in secrecy.

Why Did The U.S. And Its Allies Bomb Libya?

Why Did the U.S. and Its Allies Bomb Libya? Corruption Case Against Sarkozy Sheds New Light on Ousting of Gaddafi.
***
Last month, French police detained and questioned Sarkozy about illicit payments Gaddafi is said to have made to Sarkozy’s 2007 presidential election campaign. A few days after Sarkozy was released from detention, he was ordered to stand trial for corruption and influence-peddling in a related case, in which he had sought information on the Gaddafi inquiry from an appeals court judge. The scandal has highlighted a little-appreciated bind that Sarkozy faced in the run-up to the Libyan intervention: The French president, who took the lead among Europeans in the military campaign against Gaddafi, was eager to compensate for diplomatic blunders in Tunisia and Egypt and most likely angry about an arms deal with Gaddafi that went awry. Sarkozy, it now appears, was eager to shift the narrative to put himself at the forefront of a pro-democracy, anti-Gaddafi intervention .

Trump Walks Back Promises To Declassify Remaining JFK Files Despite Remaining Questions

By Aaron Kesel

U.S. President Donald Trump has walked back his previous promises to declassify the remaining classified JFK Files out of the CIA until at the latest October 26, 2021.

“I agree with the Archivist’s recommendation that the continued withholdings are necessary to protect against identifiable harm to national security, law enforcement, or foreign affairs that is of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in immediate disclosure,” Trump wrote in a Presidential memorandum released by the White House.

Trump added that need for the continued protection of the documents, “can only grow weaker with the passage of time.”

Last October, Trump wrote on Twitter, “Subject to the receipt of further information, I will be allowing, as President, the long-blocked and classified JFK FILES to be opened.”...

Igniting Fallujah: US killings of protesters in 2003 that signaled start of insurgency

Exactly 15 years ago US occupation troops stationed in Fallujah opened fire on a crowd of protesters, arguably marking the start of the unending insurgency and ever-perpetrating violence in Iraq.

The name Fallujah is mostly associated with two bloody battles fought for it by the US-led coalition in 2004 for the US public. Some may recall how the first battle was in response to an ambush of a convoy, in which US contractors from the private military company Blackwater were killed, their bodies desecrated and hanged from a bridge over the river Euphrates. Younger generations may recall that Fallujah was in the hands of the terrorist group Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) until yet another siege in 2006 forced them out.

Controlling the airwaves: Russia's electronic warfare systems

Modern armed forces are equipped with systems capable of disabling enemy equipment and weaponry by attacking their electronics, and Russia’s military is no exception.

Electronic warfare (EW) systems are not at all inferior to direct impact weapons in terms of efficiency, but unlike cannons and missiles, they destroy not the enemy's manpower and equipment, but its "nervous system" – systems of control, guidance and surveillance.

Such a strike can at once deprive it of all opportunities to fight – disabling electronics, shutting down electrical wires, blinding radars, and immobilizing combat aircraft and warships.

The fiasco of the bombing raid on Syria

The Inhibitor!
However, the Russian army observed the shots and transmitted the coordinates of the Allied missiles to the Syrian Arab Army in real time, in order to allow the Syrians to destroy them. Besides this, when the Syrians became swamped by the number of allied missiles, the Russian army deployed its system for inhibiting the commands and controls of NATO, which paralysed most of their launchers.

The most that we know for certain is that a French plane was unable to fire one of its missiles, and was obliged to jettison it out to sea without triggering it [9], and that two French multi-mission frigates suffered a computer failure and were unable to fire their naval Cruise missiles [10] — these are symptoms that are well known by anyone who has had to face up to the Russian inhibitor weapon.

The Crash Of 1929: "Can It Happen Again?"

Currently, we are in a situation where, according to several metrics, the stock market is the most over-valued in the history of the NYSE. The central banks, with their orthodox and unorthodox monetary policies, have fed the asset market mania for nine years now but, currently, they are in a tightening cycle. Moreover, the global economy is in a risk of a dramatic slowdown. This indicates that the main components of the crash of 1929: an over-valued stock market, a central bank tightening cycle (higher interest rates) and a slowing economy are almost all present in the US. We will thus soon know how well the history rhymes.

How False Flag Operations Are Carried Out Today

The lesson that should be learned from Syria and Skripal is that if “an incident” looks like it has no obvious motive behind it, there is a high probability that it is a false flag. A bit of caution in assigning blame is appropriate given that the alternative would be a precipitate and likely disproportionate response that could easily escalate into a shooting war.

Latin Mass Priest Slaps Down "Annoying, Arrogant" Parkland "Revolutionaries" In 'Idolization of Youth" Homily

My favorite Catholic Latin mass priest hits another one out of the park. He mentions Parkland students Hogg and Gonzales by name. The homily summary states, in part, "In this crazy modern world in which we live- in these revolutionary times- everything has been turned upside down, for we are now told that the young should lead, guide, and teach the old. The immature are now expected to provide the example for the mature. The young should not listen, but rather should speak out and not be silenced, for they are now the modern voice of wisdom. But it's interesting to note that the young leading others is actually seen as a curse in the Holy Bible. The prophet Isaiah states that the good Lord would punish Israel by having the young in positions of power: And I will give children to be their princes, and weak effeminate ones shall rule over them- the young shall rise up against the old, and the dishonorable against the honorable."

We should be sceptical of far-away governments who claim to know what is happening on the ground in Syria

During the bombing of Baghdad in January 1991 I went with other journalists on a government-organised trip to what they claimed was the remains of a baby milk plant at Abu Ghraib which the US had just destroyed, saying that it was really a biological warfare facility ... It took years for the official version of the bombing to fall apart. ... Proof came slowly, long after public interest had waned ... The story of the Abu Ghraib baby milk factory is worth retelling because it underlines - in the wake of the US, British and French air strikes on alleged Syrian BW sites on 14 April - the need for permanent scepticism towards claims by governments that they know what is happening on the ground in Syria or anywhere else.

When President Trump in October approved the release of previously classified or redacted documents on the JFK assassination, he blocked the release of others over national security concerns and gave federal agencies 180 days to re-review the withheld documents. Almost One Million Irish Slaves At Risk Of Being Scrubbed From History

They came in the holds of overcrowded ships, packed in among cargo and animals, and those who survived the journey were bought and sold in chains to work as hard their owners chose. They were taken to the Carribean, to the American colonies, and beyond. Sound familiar? But these forced immigrants, deprived of all personal freedom, were Irish slaves, and their servitude started long before black slavery was common.

The history of the Irish slaves has long been suppressed, and a modern movement of Irish slavery denial has even gained mainstream acceptance. Promoters of this toxic ideology claim that it is ‘racist’ to say the Irish were ever sold as slaves, as this ‘takes away’ from the black experience.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Slavery is slavery. Any person who is bought and sold, chained and abused, whether for a decade or a lifetime, deserves to be remembered, their tragic legacy respected.

Glendale Approves Armenian-American Museum as Its "Forward-Looking Legacy"

April 24 is one of the most sober days on the calendar for the Armenian community. Armenian Genocide Memorial Day recognizes the onset in 1915 of the campaign of extermination in the Ottoman Empire, modern-day Turkey, that killed an estimated 1.5 million Armenians.

His grandfather survived but was an orphan raised by a Muslim Arab family before he discovered his Armenian heritage. His other grandfather also was orphaned by the atrocities and witnessed beheadings.

“Everyone has a story,” Najarian said of members of the Armenian-American diaspora after the genocide, which the government of Turkey still denies occurred.

It's very clear, Christians are not required to merely sit by and submit as they or their families are murdered at the hand of a corrupt tyrannical state. Matter of fact, preservation of one's life is a "grave duty." The catechism slso covers allowable "armed resistance to oppression by political authority." 2264: "...Someone who defends his life is not guilty of murder even if he is forced to deal his aggressor a lethal blow.. Nor is it necessary for salvation that a man omit the act of moderate self-defense to avoid killing the other man, since one is bound to take more care of one's own life than of another's. 2265 Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for one who is responsible for the lives of others..."

Turkey has ‘responsibility’ to share Armenian pain over 1915: Erdo?an

Turkey has a responsibility to share the pain of Armenian citizens over the “1915 events,” according to a statement signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and read at an Armenian memorial held in Istanbul on April 24.

“It is Turkey’s conscientious and ethical responsibility to share the historical pain of our Armenian citizens,” read the statement at the Istanbul Armenian Church on the 103rd anniversary of the mass killing of Ottoman Armenians during World War I.

“We will continue to share your pain and try to resolve your problems in the future,” added the statement, which was read out both in Armenian and Turkish.

Extending his condolences to the Armenian community, Erdo?an also expressed “condolences to the Turkish nation over loss of lives of millions of Ottoman citizens due to wars, migrations, conflicts and diseases during the same period.”

Armenian-Americans flood the streets of Los Angeles as they call on government to formally recognize 1915 genocide by the Ottoman Empire that took the lives of 1.5MILLION

Thousands of Armenian-Americans took to the streets of Los Angeles on Tuesday to commemorate the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians under the Ottoman Empire a century ago.

The demonstrations came hours after Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan resigned following 10 days of large anti-government protests in that country.

Marchers in Los Angeles demanded that the 1.5million deaths starting in 1915 be recognized by Turkey as genocide.

Although Armenians and many historians consider it to be genocide, Turkey - successor of the Ottoman Empire - contends those who died were victims of civil war and unrest.

Los Angeles demonstrators waved Armenian and American flags and carried signs that read '1915 never again' and 'Turkish denial must end.'

Erdogan Pays Tribute to Armenian Victims on Genocide Remembrance Day

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid tribute Tuesday to the Armenians who died in the Ottoman Empire during World War I on the occasion of the international Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

"Once again, I remember with respect the Ottoman Armenians who lost their lives, and offer my sincere condolences to their children and descendants. On this occasion, I also pray for God’s grace and mercy on millions of Ottoman citizens we lost due to contagious diseases, migration, war and clashes during the same period," Erdogan said in a message to the religious ceremony held in the Armenian Patriarchate, obtained by Sputnik.

Trump the Latest in Long Line of US Presidents Trampling on International Law

The U.S. missile attack on Syria in response to unproven chemical weapons use by the Assad regime once again puts America in violation of the international laws that we claim to support. The UN charter forbids such action unless it is in self-defense or approved by the UN Security Council, neither of which applies in this case
***
Trump, like many presidents before him, essentially argues that international law must be broken if it is to be saved. With this bombing, however, he violated more than just international law. He, like his predecessors, also trashed the U.S. Constitution which gives the power to wage war to Congress, not to the president. There is no Congressional authority for any attack on Syria.

Trumpian disregard for international and U.S. law when it comes to making war, unfortunately, adds nothing new to the pages of American history. Way back in 1898, President William McKinley, with no proof, said>>>

What Lyndon B. Johnson said in 1964 about Vietnam also sounded a lot like what Trump said this month. >>>

In October 1983, Ronald Reagan made another of these speeches fit for Trump when he told the American people how 1,000 American citizens, students, and a medical school were threatened on the island of Grenada. >>>

Trump Administration Moves to Undermine Centuries-Old Native American Treaties

Tribal leaders say Trump’s moves violate centuries-old protection treaties signed by President George Washington, and reaffirmed by the Clinton,

George W Bush and Obama administrations.

The Donald Trump administration has proposed a major change to Native American health program, by dismissing their sovereignty and classifying them as a race, under which the Indigenous communities will be included in Medicaid work rules, a move which could further marginalize them and pose a serious threat to their health access.

So far, three U.S. states, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Indiana have taken the lead to institute work-requirements which would make them eligible for Medicaid, paving the way for other states to follow the suit. Under the Medicaid requirements, the participants will have to work between 20 to 80 hours each month in order to continue receiving the health insurance.

The tribal leaders are contesting the U.S. administration’s stance>>>

Washington Using Currency War To Destabilize Iran

The neoconservative hawks around the US President, notably new National Security head John Bolton and designated Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, are on record that Iran is in Washington’s sights for regime change or at a minimum, economic sanctions and chaos. The rhetoric is not empty. The ground is being laid by US threats to not renew the Iran nuclear agreement in May, a move opposed by the other signatories and a move that would plunge Iran into a deep economic crisis at a time it can ill afford.
The orchestration of the US-led bombing of Syria, regardless of what targets were or were not hit, now sets the propaganda stage for a dramatic escalation of new sanctions against Iran, and for a major destabilization, something not possible in 2009.

What is taking shape now from the side of Washington is preparation to unleash a new wave of economic and financial sanctions on Iran, regardless.

Note: Illegally abducted. Killing and kidnapping is normal for Israel.

How the Deep State Turns Every President Into John McCain

In the wake of last week’s cruise missile attack on Syria, there was a joke going around the internet saying that it doesn’t matter who Americans vote for, they always wind up getting John McCain as President of the United States

The humor derives from the fact that the past three presidents all ran for office committed to reducing America’s interventionism overseas but once in office they reversed course and expanded US military commitments worldwide, turning them into facsimiles of John McCain, who has never seen a war he didn’t like

President Donald Trump’s explicit pledges to avoid expanded engagement in Asia and the Middle East while also fixing the relationship with Russia are by now lost down the memory hole as he has increased troop levels in Afghanistan while, by his own admission, the relationship with Moscow is now even worse than it was during the Cold War. And regarding Syria>>>

THE BBC FINALLY ADMITS THAT MI5 SECRETLY VETTED ITS EMPLOYEES, AN OPEN SECRET FOR GENERATIONS

My wife -- whose father is a TV director who'd worked for the BBC -- learned as a little girl that the British spy agency MI5 secretly vetted people who applied for work at the BBC and denoted possible subversives by putting a doodle of a Christmas tree on their personnel files; people who were thus blacklisted were discriminated against within the Beeb.

This practice -- which continued into the 1990s -- has been an open secret for generations, but the BBC has always officially denied it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I find myself completely unastonished at this revelation; the Brits have their own "flavor" of the Deep State, which upholds narrative to further its agenda, no matter how horrific that agenda may be for its people... like the participation in the Iraq war, a cause championed by Phoney Tony Blair.

America Can’t Be Trusted Anymore

It's hard to be powerful when nobody believes a word you say.

One of the most overused cliches in contemporary U.S. diplomacy is Ronald Reagan’s invocation of a Russian proverb: “Trust but Verify.” Originally used in the context of the Cold War, it conveyed that Washington should be willing to reach agreements with its adversaries but only if it could be sure the other side would live up to its commitments. It was a nice way to indicate both flexibility and toughness, which is of course why people refer to it whenever the United States is contemplating new negotiations with one of its adversaries.

Implicit in Reagan’s dictum is the idea that Americans are honest, plain-speaking truth-tellers who can be counted upon to keep their word and fulfill their promises. America’s opponents, by contrast, are a slippery bunch of deceptive charlatans who will exploit any loophole and seize any opportunity to hoodwink the country. Accordingly, U.S. negotiators must insist on all sorts of intrusive measures — such as the extraordinarily stringent inspection regime incorporated into the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran — to make sure they can verify what others are really up to. Reagan’s proverb notwithstanding, the importance the United States attaches to verification is really a reminder that there is damn little trust involved.

Lately, however, I’ve been wondering whether this wariness has things backward>>>

The CIA and the Drug Trade (Eyeopener Preview)

During the 18th century, the British monopolized the opium trade in India and shipped thousands of chests of opium per year to China as a way of financing their huge trade deficit with that nation. When the Chinese cracked down on opium trafficking in the mid-19th century, the British fought two wars to ensure their Chinese opium market.

By the 1830s, American traders were already getting in on the act, with Samuel Russell’s “Russell & Company” becoming the largest American trading house in China. Russell’s cousin, William Huntington Russell, founded Skull & Bones, a secret society at Yale that has formed the core of the American intelligence establishment, a set of documentable facts that the establishment media seems eager to avoid.

UNIT 731: HOW LEADERS OF JAPAN’S WWII GERM WARFARE UNIT ENDED UP WORKING FOR THE US

Unit 731, the notorious germ warfare unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that conducted horrific lethal experiments on Chinese civilians and Allied prisoners of war before and during World War II, is back in the news again after the Japanese government released the names of more than 3,000 of its former members. The unit is little known in either Japan or the United States; what’s even less known is that rather than punish its members, US authorities during the postwar occupation of Japan paid them millions of dollars to share knowledge gained from, among other crimes, dissecting live POWs and killing hundreds of thousands of Chinese civilians by aerial spraying of bubonic plague and other deadly diseases.

In his powerful new book, Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War, veteran politician and author Pat Buchanan challenges many historic taboos by claiming that Winston Churchill plunged Britain and its empire, including Canada, into wars whose outcomes were disastrous for all concerned. Other writers, me included, have made the same point for decades, but Buchanan has marshalled a formidable array of facts and historians to support his case ... Buchanan's book strips away lingering war propaganda and shows the cynicism, lust for power and foolishness of the "saintly" Allied war leaders and their "good" war.

‘Darkest Hour,’ or the Great Man Theory of History (and Acting)

Considered as history, "Darkest Hour," written by Anthony McCarten ("The Theory of Everything"), offers the public a few new insights and details about the practice of statecraft in a time of crisis ... Like "The King's Speech," Mr. Wright's film is a serviceable enough historical drama. But like "Dunkirk," it falls back on an idealized notion of the English character that feels, in present circumstances, less nostalgic than downright reactionary, and as empty as those ubiquitous "Keep Calm and Carry On" internet memes. Rather than invite the audience to think about the difficulties of democratic governance at a time of peril, the filmmakers promote passivity and hero-worship, offering not so much a Great Man Theory as a great man fetish.

Gangsters for Zion

In 1945, the Jewish Agency, the pre-state Israeli government headed by David Ben-Gurion, created a vast clandestine arms-purchasing-and-smuggling network throughout the United States. The operation was placed under the aegis of the Haganah, the underground forerunner of the Israel Defense Forces, and involved hundreds of Americans from every walk of life ... One group, who remained anonymous and rarely talked about, were men who were tough, streetwise, unafraid, and had access to ready cash: Jewish gangsters ... In his autobiography, West Coast mobster Mickey Cohen claimed that after meeting Haganah and Irgun emissaries, he became so absorbed with Israel that he pushed aside much of his own activities and did nothing but try to help Israel in its war.

International Lawyers: Strike Against Syria Would Be Illegal

We are practitioners and professors of international law. Under international law, military strikes by the United States of America and its allies against the Syrian Arab Republic, unless conducted in self-defense or with United Nations Security Council approval, are illegal and constitute acts of aggression. The unlawful killing of any human being without legal justification, under every legal system, is murder. And an act of violence committed by one government against another government, without lawful justification, amounts to the crime of aggression: the supreme international crime ... We must point out that for the last several years, as is now common knowledge, the United States has armed rebels/insurgents to overthrow the current government of Syria. This is illegal under international law.

''7 Days In Entebbe,' Film About Israeli Hostage Rescue, Is Actually Worth Seeing

I had seen the trailer twice at theatres, and it mentioned "the plight of the Palestinian people" while showing a hijacked airline, so it caught my attention. I already knew that Netanyahu's older brother was the only soldier killed in the raid to rescue the hostages in 1976. The rescue took place in Uganda while this country celebrated our 200th anniversary, on July 4, 1976. I fully expected this movie to be a propaganda piece, but was very pleasantly surprised. Very good acting and the Jewish director, who consulted with many who were actually involved in the rescue, presents an accurate historical recount of events, as well as examines the opinions of the "terrorists" on the struggle between Palestine & Israel. For that reason alone, this film deserves our patronage.

In reviewing the excellent 1997 documentary Waco: The Rules of Engagement, the final minutes of the film reveal Congressional testimony from the hearings on Waco in which Biden and a gaggle of other disgusting government apologists pronounce that the government was blameless in the entire ordeal.
