Visa Anyone? Ukrainians Ridicule Poroshenko’s ‘Success’

Twitter users ridiculed the statement of Petro Poroshenko that the value of the Ukrainian passport had grown after the introduction of a visa-free regime with the European Union.

Many Ukrainians found it strange to rejoice at the positions in the rating, while the standard of living in the country leaves much to be desired.

“Raise the standard of living, not the passport rating,” – wrote @ VitaliiA5.

Ishchenko – ‘Russian Liberal Delusions Destroyed By Electoral Realities’

As you know, greatness is seen from a distance. Therefore, in order to better understand the Ukrainian elite, one should look at the actions and try to understand the motivations of the one, the vanishingly small part of the Russian political elite that the Maidan has not taught anything to, and who is still dreaming of returning to the “blessed” 90’s. For this, let us turn to the recent presidential elections.

Poroshenko’s End? Who Would Be Ukraine’s Next President?

The current head of the Ukrainian state Petro Poroshenko’s administration and other advisers are trying to convince him that it is more beneficial for him to first hold elections in the parliament, and then conduct presidential elections. Because if you first hold presidential elections, then, accordingly, with a high probability, Poroshenko will not be president.

This was said on the radio station “Voice of the Capital” by an expert of the Ukrainian Institute of Analysis and Management Policy, political scientist Nikolai Spiridonov, reports RIA Novosti Ukraine.

UNESCO broke ties with Crimean partners under western pressure, Russian envoy says

UNESCO’s Secretariat is no longer maintaining contact with the administrations of the World Heritage List sites in Crimea, Russian envoy to UNESCO Alexander Kuznetsov said in an interview with Izvestia. "Under the western pressure the secretariat of UNESCO has broken all contacts with their traditional partners in Crimea, including the World Heritage List site - the Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese. The Secretariat even rejects accepting reports on its integrity," he said. According to Kuznetsov, the UN cultural organization uses monitoring results based on Kiev’s reports, which are biased. "They [the reports] are extremely politicized and unilateral. So what ‘monitoring’ in Crimea are we talking about? UNESCO simply ignores the real state of affairs on the peninsula," he emphasized... Kiev and Western states continue to raise the issue of Crimea’s belonging at UNESCO sessions.

Lavrov Calls French President Stance on Syria ‘Colonial’

The Russian and Chinese foreign ministers have held a joint press conference after talks in Beijing, which were dedicated to the situation on the Korean peninsula in the wake of North Korea's decision to halt nuclear and missile tests, as well as the situation in Syria.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has lashed out at the missile strikes carried out by the US, France and the UK on Syria, saying that they were aimed at hindering the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) investigation into the alleged use of poisonous substances in Douma, Eastern Ghouta.

"Both sides gave an extremely negative assessment of the missile attack of the United States and its allies on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. This is a gross violation of international law," Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.

‘Putin is a strong leader, we should never be weak with him’ – Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron says Russian President Vladimir Putin is a clever ‘strongman’ who exploits his opponents’ weaknesses, and who has a completely different view on democracy than his Western counterparts.

“I think he’s a very strong man. He’s a strong president. He wants a great Russia. People are proud with his policy,” the French leader said in an interview to Fox on Sunday. However, Macron cautioned that “we should never be weak with President Putin. When you are weak, he uses it.”

Noting Russian-French disagreements on a number of issues, Macron then pulled no punches on Russia’s alleged wrongdoings against foreign democracies.

US stance leaves no chance for speaking about easing of tensions in relations — Kremlin

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov is certain that the real state of affairs and Washington’s stance leave no chance for considering an easing of tensions in Russian-US relations. "The reality - the real state of affairs and real steps that we see Washington take - point in the other direction (not at an easing of tensions in Russian-US relations). Hardly anyone will dare argue with this," Peskov told the media on Tuesday. Earlier, US ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman said President Donald Trump had repeatedly declared his intention to seek more effective cooperation with Russia.

Moscow finds London's answers on Skripal case just don’t add up

The UK has failed to provide answers to the most important questions on the Skripal case, the Russian Permanent Mission to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) informed TASS on Tuesday. "The materials we have received from the British side do not suit us," the mission stressed. "We will certainly need some time for a more detailed analysis. The first impression is that the British have not given answers to the most important questions that we asked." The mission is currently considering "possible options for further steps." "Anyway, we will seek substantial answers on the aspects which are vital for us," it stressed. On April 13, Russia handed over to Britain a list of questions concerning the Salisbury poisoning in accordance with Article 9 of the Chemical Weapons Convention." The answers to these questions were due to be received by April 23.

Washington Using Currency War To Destabilize Iran

The neoconservative hawks around the US President, notably new National Security head John Bolton and designated Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, are on record that Iran is in Washington’s sights for regime change or at a minimum, economic sanctions and chaos. The rhetoric is not empty. The ground is being laid by US threats to not renew the Iran nuclear agreement in May, a move opposed by the other signatories and a move that would plunge Iran into a deep economic crisis at a time it can ill afford.
The orchestration of the US-led bombing of Syria, regardless of what targets were or were not hit, now sets the propaganda stage for a dramatic escalation of new sanctions against Iran, and for a major destabilization, something not possible in 2009.

What is taking shape now from the side of Washington is preparation to unleash a new wave of economic and financial sanctions on Iran, regardless.

In the course of the drills, the crews are practicing the algorithms for a group of warships to conduct a sea battle," the press office said. "During the drills, the frigates as a strike group notionally attacked the guard ships, which in turn practiced measures to jointly repel a simulated enemy’s attack, the press office said. US CENTCOM Chief Makes 'Secret and Unprecedented' Visit to Israel as Russia Mulls Arming Syria

Increasingly it appears that the recent US coalition missile strikes on Syria have utterly backfired: instead of weakening Syria or degrading its military capabilities, the attack may have actually served to strengthen Syria's defenses. Since the massive strike which involved the US, UK, and France launching over 100 cruise missiles, Russia is rumored to be moving forward on delivery of its advanced S-300 missile defense system, which would be a monumental upgrade allowing Syrian defenses to far surpass current capabilities which utilize the Soviet-made S-125 and S-200 air defense systems. Crucially, S-300s have a range of up to 150-200 kilometers (or 120 miles), bringing Syrian deterrent reach easily to within Lebanese airspace (as Israel has routinely struck targets inside Syria while firing over "neutral" Lebanese airspace in recent years), and could even extend airspace coverage into Israel itself. Could this be the reason for some major behind-the-scenes diplomatic scrambling?..

Did The West Just Lose World War III By Forfeit?

Almost immediately upon reports of the staged chemical attack in Douma on April 7, speculation began as to the likely response from the west – which in reality meant from the United States, in turn meaning from President Donald J. Trump. Would Trump, who had repeatedly spoken harshly of his predecessors’ destructive and pointless misadventures in the Middle East, and who just days earlier had signaled his determination to withdraw the several thousand Americans (illegally) stationed in Syria, see through the obvious deception?

Haley is representative of US Deep State, an enemy of Russia: Analyst

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is the representative of the US Deep State, which is determined to go to war with Russia, says E. Michael Jones, a political analyst in Indiana.

Jones, a writer, former professor, media commentator and the current editor of the Culture Wars magazine, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly invited Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone conversation for a meeting at the White House.

“On the surface it seems a kind of paradoxical because it looks as if we are engaged in Cold War II, and Russia is the enemy. However, appearances are deceiving here,” Jones said.

“If we take a step back I think the invitation is perfectly consistent with the events of the past month,” he added.

Another Dodgy British Dossier: the Skripal Case

Ukraine’s far-right honors SS unit, but guess what the Western MSM is really worried about

A notorious Waffen SS division is celebrated with an exhibition of swastikas, Nazi attire and pictures in Lvov, Ukraine, but for some Western journalists, the greater concern is how the Russian media will cover it.

As neo-Nazi extremists prepared to celebrate Adolf Hitler’s birthday on April 20 across Germany, Ukraine’s far-right set up an open-air exhibition in the city of Lvov to mark the 75th anniversary of the formation of the 1st Galician Division, a notoriously cruel SS fighting force made up predominantly of Ukrainian volunteers.

Dressed in Nazi uniforms of the era, local right-wing extremists organized a display of photographs rarely seen in public before. Nazi-made weapons, vehicles, ammunition, and personal items pertaining to the Galician Division were also exhibited. The event, which will run until May 6, was opened as a precursor to a neo-Nazi march which organizers plan to hold on April 28.

An interview with a prolific Twitter user accused by the British government of being a “Russian Bot” quickly turned heated as challenged their arguments, particularly their claim that by not toeing the UK government line, he was “anti-Britain” - and perhaps even a Kremlin agent.

It all started with a blog post from the Digital Forensic Research Lab of the DC-based, Gulf-funded think tank Atlantic Council, which said that some of the conversations about the poisoning of double agent Sergei Skripal "appear to involve organized activity, including possibly fake accounts masquerading as English users, in the well-known pattern of the ‘troll factory' in St. Petersburg." Did UK Fake The Skripal Case To Shut Down RT?

The British authorities have accused the television channel Russia Today of bias in covering the case of the Skripals and threatened to revoke their license. There is not a single broadcasting violation by Russia Today over the past year and a half. This is data provided by the British media regulator Ofcom. And now, seven separate investigations into the television channel have been started: the media regulator is investigating a violation of the principle of objectivity.

“We covered the case of the Skripals much more objectively than all other media, and this can be easily verified,” Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the channel, says. “Ofcom wrote that our channel, in fact, follows the rules of this regulator well and does not violate them. ”

In total, since 2012, Ofcom has recorded 15 minor violations by RT. This is a normal standard for Europe. For comparison: the British Sky News, for the same period, has 10 violations.

Russia did not provide WikiLeaks with Democratic National Committee emails during the 2016 US presidential campaign and Julian Assange has physical evidence to prove it, says a Republican congressman who met with him.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-California) visited the Ecuadorian embassy in London in August 2017 and met with Assange. He brought up that meeting on Wednesday evening’s episode of Breitbart Radio.

“By now, everybody knows that this idea that Trump was colluding with the Russians in order to get them to do things like steal the DNC emails and then release them through WikiLeaks, the public knows that’s just total baloney,” Rohrabacher said.

Putin & Trump will not allow armed confrontation between Russia, US – Lavrov

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will absolutely not allow armed confrontation between Russia and the US, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told RIA Novosti in an interview.

“Speaking about risks of a military confrontation, I am 100 percent sure that [both the US and Russian] militaries won’t allow this, and of course neither will President [Vladimir] Putin or President [Donald] Trump,” Lavrov said.

“After all they are leaders, elected by their people and are responsible for their peace,” the Russian foreign minister added.

Global Cyber Attacks Blamed On Russia Right Before Spiking Internet Outages Occur - Live Attack Map Shows Attacks From Within

Twitter went down worldwide, came back up and then went down again, with Down Detector racking up over 6,000 reports in one hour, but Twitter wasn't alone in suffering outages, as multiple communications networks also saw a spike in reports overnight, with the live outage maps from different companies showing the same geographical locations being hit.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Go to the Norse tracking map and you will see that the hack attacks are mostly internal to the US, with little or no activity coming from Russia.

Russia Warns Of ‘Precise And Painful’ Response To Any Future US Sanctions

Russia is continuing to warn the West of further attacks against Russia. Whether it be in the form of missiles or sanctions, the former Soviet Union doesn’t seem like they wish to play “war games” any longer.

The United States this month added several Russian firms and officials to a sanctions blacklist in response to what it said were the Kremlin’s “malign activities.” Moscow says those sanctions are unlawful and has warned that it will retaliate in a “painful” manner.

“No one should be under any illusions,” said Valentina Matvienko, who is closely aligned with the Kremlin, was quoted as saying by the Interfax News Agency. Matvienko, the speaker of the Russian upper house of parliament, said on Wednesday that Moscow’s response to any United States sanctions will be targeted and painful, Russian news agencies reported.

Russia Threatens To Halt Critical Rocket Engine Exports To The U.S.

Despite earlier reported hopes that Putin seeks a deal with Trump, as opposed to escalating tensions, it appears Russia is planniong to do just that.

Last Friday (the 13th), just before the US, UK and France launched 105 Tomahawk missiles at Syria, we noted that as part of Russian countermeasures against US sanctions, it could halt titanium exports to the US, critical for the production of Boeing airplanes, which promptly sent Boeing's stock lower.

As it turns out Russia has leverage not only over the biggest US exporter of airplanes and military equipment: what piqued our interest, is the United States Department of Defense (DoD) dependency on Russian-manufactured rocket engines to launch military satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO).

POLL SHOWS AMERICANS SUPPORT THE INVASION OF SYRIA

The first even marginally trustworthy poll of American “registered voters” regarding the April 14th U.S.-and-allied missiles-invasion of Syria, shows an overwhelming 66% supporting the invasion (36% “Strongly” and 30% “Somewhat), and only 23% opposing (8% “Strongly” and 11% “Somewhat”).

Webmaster's Commentary:

I absolutely refuse to believe this.

Either the pollsters were "push polling", in zipcodes where a positive response could be safely betted upon, or the pollsters were polling the criminally insane.

But IF these results are true, God help the Democratic Republic of the United States of America; this means that Americans have simply lost their capacity for critical thinking, meaning that the Federal Government can get away with any atrocity against any country, through a compbination lies and complete impunity.

THE WHITE HELMETS TRIED TO RECRUIT ROGER WATERS WITH SAUDI MONEY

During a Barcelona concert on April 13, Roger Waters denounced the Syrian White Helmets as “a fake organization that exists only to create propaganda for jihadists and terrorists.” Warning that the groups’ unverified claims about chemical weapons attacks across insurgent-held territory were aimed at triggering Western military intervention, Waters cautioned his audience, “If we were to listen to the propaganda of the White Helmets and others, we would encourage our governments to start dropping bombs on people in Syria. This would be a mistake of monumental proportions for us as human beings.”

UN SECURITY TEAM BLOCKS CHEMICAL INSPECTORS FROM ENTERING DOUMA

The UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) continues to prevent chemical inspectors from entering Douma for their investigation, citing safety concerns. They have offered no timetable for when the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) inspectors will be allowed in.

The OPCW inspectors did not visit Monday, and there were a lot of allegations exchanged as to why. Though British officials blamed Russia for the delay, it is now clear that the UNDSS is driving the scheduling.

The UNDSS team visited two sites in Douma, but fled both times. In the first case, they claimed there was a large crowd there, and they were concerned about safety. At the second site there was a report of an explosion nearby, and claimed to have come under small arms fire by some unknown faction. No UN workers were injured, though one Syrian was said to have sustained light injuries working in a security capacity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder; just what is it that the UN does not want the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons finding?!?

This continued obstruction has the US government's fingerprints all over it.

Russia Blocks Millions Of IP Addresses Including Local Businesses Over Telegram Refusing To Give Encryption Keys

By Aaron Kesel

Russia blocked more than 16 million IP addresses in an attempt to ban encrypted messenger Telegram after the company refused to give up its encryption keys, leading to interruptions in the service, major websites and media including Google, Amazon and many other U.S. businesses.

A court ordered that Telegram be blocked in Russia after it refused to hand over its encryption keys to state security agencies like the FSB.

Yesterday, Roskomnadzor, Russia’s equivalent of the FCC, began telling mobile networks that they had to block access to Telegram...

RUSSIA DEVELOPED THREE TYPES OF WEAPONS that put the end to the inviolability of the drones

The Russian Defense Group Automatika has developed three new types of armaments for radio-electronics battle against drowns - the portable version of "Pistachio" and "Sapsan", as well as stationary "Taran", which are capable of detecting, tracking and crashing.

According to Chief Engineer Sergei Shirjaev, the weapon operates by directly influencing the radio connection with the drones - blocking remote control, hindering navigation and resetting the loaded data.

"The effect is that the drone just crazy. If it's a drone with four elves, it simply remains hanging in the air, after which the wind is kicked out of the balance and drone fall. In the case of a drone with wings, it starts uncontrolled to lose height until it hits the ground, "he explains.

The most powerful is "Sapsan", Shirjaev specifies, who is able to detect the drone at a distance of more than 100 kilometers and to obstruct it or to hand over all necessary information to PVO systems.

The British Are Driving the West’s War Agenda—But Why?

Over the past two months the news has been dominated by two bizarre but related events:

1) the alleged nerve agent poisoning of the exchanged Russian dual-agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, England; and

2) the supposed gas poisoning of Syrian civilians by the Assad government, leading to the “retaliatory” April 13-14 missile attack against the Syrian nation by the U.S. and Great Britain as ordered by President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Theresa May.

This attack was an act of war against a sovereign nation carried out without approval of the U.N. Security Council or the U.S. Congress or British Parliament and were cheered on by French president Emmanuel Macron.

Is Trump’s Broader War against Syria on Hold? A Member State of NATO is “Sleeping with the Enemy”: America is at War with both Syria and Turkey

The US war cabinet chose to implement a face saving punitive bombing rather than an all out war against Syria. Defense Secretary Mattis was acutely aware that a punitive bombing could lead to escalation and military confrontation with Russia.

Russia’s objective was to avoid a military clash while ensuring the defense of Syria. The Russians were crystal clear. They would counterattack if Russian military assets were targeted.

Washington also knew that they could not initiate at this juncture a major military campaign against Syria largely due to divisions within the Atlantic Alliance and the fact that a NATO member State, namely Turkey had become an ally of Russia and was fighting US proxy Kurdish rebel forces (integrated by French, British and US Special Forces) in Northern Syria.

What Washington decided upon was a punitive attack while putting a major theater war against Syria “on hold”.

BEX ALERT - Putin 'DESPERATELY SCRAMBLES' to avoid World War 3 with Trump by giving DEEP CONCESSIONS

VLADIMIR Putin appears to be in a desperate scramble to avoid the outbreak of World War 3 and is willing to offer “deep concessions” to Donald Trump to prevent conflict between Russia and the US, it has been claimed.

Igor Bunin, from the Centre for Political Technologies, declared Mr Putin is planning to succumb to pressure from the West but will do so in a way “to appear like he’s not losing”.

He explained: “Putin is ready to make numerous, deep concessions, but he has to appear like he’s not losing.”

The Centre for Political Technologies has a consultancy that includes Kremlin staff members.

He went on: “He understands Russia can’t compete with the West economically.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I will believe this when I hear it from Putin himself. Otherwise, this is an attempt by the US to save face after its defeat in Syria.

Chemical Agent in Skripal Case Produced in Western Labs, Expert Says

The chemical substance in the case of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal poisoning in the UK city of Salisbury with great certainty has been produced in one of western laboratories, chemical weapons expert said.

"The issue of 'Novichoks' has gained widespread in a considerable number of western laboratories. It is fair to say that today there are at least 20 of such laboratories which undertake work related to 'Novichoks'," expert said. "It can be said with great certainty that the manufacture is somewhere at those laboratories," he said in an intervew with the Russian Investigative Committee.

‘Mature, trust-based partnership’: Moscow & Vienna keep ties level-headed as Austria FM set to visit

A phone conversation between Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Austria’s Sebastian Kurz this week highlighted Vienna’s neutral, constructive approach towards Russia. The call came on the eve of FM Karin Kneissl’s first visit to Moscow.

During their conversation, the Austrian Chancellor and Russian President agreed that the US-led missile strikes on Syria had “aggravated” the situation in that country, and discussed ongoing humanitarian and deconfliction efforts. Writing on Twitter after the call, Kurz said that Russia was a “superpower” and “important player” in finding a peaceful resolution on the conflict. He added that Vienna would always be open to dialogue and negotiations.

Russia’s Ethnic Germans Start Resettling in Crimea – German Cultural Autonomy

Russia's ethnic Germans have started resettling in Crimea, albeit not in mass numbers, Yury Gempel, the chairman of the Crimean German National and Cultural Autonomy and a member of the Crimean parliament, told Sputnik.

"The process of returning [of Russian ethnic Germans] is underway. One cannot say that it is mass but it is rather stable, with 11-12 families of Russian [ethnic] Germans annually returning from Germany to Crimea for permanent residence. Just recently, we have welcomed one more family. They are currently preparing to settle in Dzhankoy district; they run their own small business," he said.

He added that Russia's ethnic Germans wished to build a settlement in Crimea in a German architectural style with the aim of preserving their culture and traditions.

"I think [the initiative] has good prospects. Moreover, such a project has already been implemented in Kazakhstan," he noted.

Soyuz later! Russia might exit satellite launch business

Russia has dropped a broad hint that it might leave the space launch business to private operators.

Space launches have become a relative commodity: SpaceX publishes a price list offering a Falcon 9 trip to geosynchronous transfer orbit for $62m, or $90m for Falcon Heavy.

Russia's official newsagency TASS carried a report suggesting the country might let the new generation of private launch vehicles have the business to themselves rather than try to build a platform that can compete with SpaceX.

London crossed all red lines accusing Putin of involvement in chemical program

The United Kingdom has crossed all red lines and ovetstepped thresholds of decency by accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of being involved in the military chemical program, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said on Wednesday at a United Nations Security Council meeting. According to the Russian diplomat, the British side has circulated at the UN Security Council a letter "full of false, ungrounded and slanderous allegations, as usual." "The United Kingdom has dared to speak about our chemical statement in a preemptory manner, to judge the methods of work of our special services. This time, our British colleagues have gone even further: they directly accused President Putin of being involved in the chemical military program," he said. "I don’t know whether London or the UK’s mission here see that you have overstepped the red line and the threshold of decency.

Two cruise missiles found unexploded by the Syrian military after the US missile strike on April 14 have been handed over to Russia, a source in the Syrian defense ministry told TASS on Thursday. "Two cruise missiles that did not detonate during the US missile strike on Syria overnight to April 14 were found by the Syrian military. Both are in rather good condition. These missiles were handed over to Russian officer the day before yesterday (April 17)," the source said, adding that both "were sent to Russia by plane yesterday (April 18)." Russian corporations to cut space, nuclear contracts with foreign companies

The Russian government has ordered Roscosmos (the nation’s space corporation) and Rosatom (the country’s nuclear energy corporation) to impose a temporary ban on signing legally binding documents with foreign companies from those countries that slapped sanctions on Russia or supported the restrictions. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin signed the instructions to this effect last week, Kommersant writes citing several sources in the government and in the relevant industries. Such agreements can only be inked "if a political decision is made," one of the sources said. According to another government official, these restrictions do not cover existing contracts but will make signing new accords more difficult. "On the other hand, this step will tighten government control," the source stressed.

SWIFT confirms neutral status in Russia, plans to continue staying outside of politics

The global financial messaging service provider SWIFT plans to continue staying outside of politics, the company said Wednesday referring to Chief Executive Officer Gottfried Leibbrandt. "Neutrality is integral to SWIFT, it’s one of our core principles. As a unique utility to the global economy, we believe in serving the global financial community in its entirety. Having as many customers on our network as possible is beneficial to everyone, and in the interests of all global economic flows," CEO was quoted as saying at the annual general meeting in Moscow. Amid a sharp deterioration of relations between Russia and the west, disconnection from SWIFT is one of potential scenarios being discussed now. Earlier this week CEO of Russia’s top lender Sberbank Herman Gref said he doubts that Russia will be disconnected from SWIFT. The possibility of Russia's disconnection from SWIFT has been discussed since 2014, when the first anti-Russian sanctions were introduced over the Ukrainian crisis.

UK feared fugitive tycoon’s potential return to Russia might spill secrets — prosecutor

London could not let the fugitive Russian mogul, Boris Berezovsky, privy to classified information on the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko, return to Russia, Russian Prosecutor-General Yuri Chaika said at the Federation Council (upper house of parliament). "The highest polonium concentration was found in Berezovsky’s office (in London). However, physically, Berezovsky could not have obtained that polonium, nor could he have created so much artificial evidence. Berezovsky acted under the control of the British special services and together with them," Chaika emphasized. "When he (Berezovsky) decided to return to Russia, they could not let him as someone privy to secrets about an act of nuclear terrorism (against Litvinenko) return to Russia," the prosecutor-general stressed. He highlighted that the UK’s accusations against Russian citizens Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitry Kovtun of allegedly being involved in Litvinenko’s murder had been trumped up.

Putin Reportedly "Ready For Deep Concessions", Seeks Deal With Trump

We noted earlier that a Foreign Ministry official told Bloomberg that a US official had notified the Russian embassy that no sanctions would be forthcoming, contradicting Haley's comments from Sunday but affirming a Washington Post report the following day.

And it appears Russia is responding positively to that reported comment, as Bloomberg reports that Russian President Putin wants to give President Trump another chance to make good on pledges to improve ties and avoid escalation, according to four people familiar with the matter.

One said the Kremlin has ordered officials to curb their anti-U.S. rhetoric.

Putin’s decision explains why lawmakers Monday suddenly pulled a draft law that would’ve imposed sweeping counter-sanctions on U.S. companies, two of the people said.

"As for the deadline [for the law to be adopted], it’s not the most important thing right now, and it’s too early to say. The crucial thing for us at this moment is the law’s contents. Russian national Yulia Skripal is hidden from the media and the public, which means in fact that she ‘is being held hostage by the British authorities’, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Alexander Shulgin told an emergency session of the OPCW Executive Council on Wednesday. "Presently, the British authorities are zealously hiding Yulia Skripal from the media and the public," Shulgin said. "Her whereabouts are unknown. Russia proves Novichok agent patented in US as a chemical weapon — OPCW envoy

Russia has submitted the proof that the Novichok agent was produced and patented in the United States as a chemical weapon in 2015, Russia’s Permanent Representative at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Alexander Shulgin said on Wednesday. The Russian envoy made this statement during his speech at an emergency session of the OPCW Executive Council on the Salisbury incident. "On December 1, 2015, the United States Patent and Trademark Office turned to the Russian agency in charge of patents with a request to check the patentability of the invention made by US researcher T. Rubin," the envoy said, demonstrating the document. "This document confirms that nerve agents like Novichok were not only produced but were even patented as a chemical weapon in the United States. And this is not an old story, this happened just several years ago: the patent is dated December 1, 2015," the envoy said.

WW3 Alert: NATO Readies 35,000 Troops For Combat Amidst ‘Russia Tensions’

Citing increasing tensions with Russia, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) has begun to prepare 35,000 troops for combat. The troops will participate in the largest training exercise conducted since the end of the Cold War.

NATO commanders revealed the thousands of soldiers from 30 different countries are expected to take part in the Trident Juncture drill in Norway. Massive parts of the Scandinavian country will be impacted by the influx of around 130 warplanes and 60 warships, reported The Daily Star. Trident Juncture will be aimed at rehearsing for any potential threat posed by Russia when it kicks off in October.

Russia May Block US Airlines From Crossing Its Territory

The US has called for a meeting with the Russian authorities on the issue of permits for flights of American aircraft over Russian territory, said State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert. “We had plans to meet this week in Washington with the official representatives of the Russian aviation authorities. This meeting was canceled by the Russian government. We do not have a new date yet. We are waiting for them to work with us about the date (of the new meeting), because we do not want termination (of permits) for US air travelers, ” Nauert said. According to her, discussions with Russian authorities are being conducted by American airlines, while US diplomats render assistance in these negotiations. “Russia has not yet made it clear whether it will prolong the permits, which expire today. But the government of the Russian Federation declared to our embassy: “Do not panic, we are not going to hurt the Americans in terms of airspace.” We hope that is the case.

White House: We Will Not Hesitate To Sanction Russia Over Syria

US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said that sanctions are always under consideration during a briefing in Washington DC on Tuesday, regarding President Donald Trump’s rejection of sanctions on Russia. “The longer that it takes to get OPCW inspectors in to take a look at soil samples and other information that they can get in the ground, that delay further degrades any evidence that’s on the ground, so that is our chief concern,” Nauert said in terms of the alleged chemical attack in Syria. The State Department spokesperson also said the recent airstrikes led by the US, France and the UK were made after “intelligence gathering”, adding “we are very serious about this and we will not tolerate the use of these illegal chemical weapons to kill innocent men, women and children.” She also said the whole goal of the Russian and Syrian government is to cover up, stating “their goal is to try to deflect attention.

Thousands Of US Troops Amass On Syrian Border For Military ‘Drill’

Thousands of U.S. Marines arrived in Jordan at around the same time the United States, the United Kingdom, and France were organizing a direct military strike on Jordan’s neighbor, Syria. Shortly after the US-led bombing of Syria over alleged chemical weapons use, the Marine took part in military drills.

According to Antimedia, nearly 3,600 U.S. troops, including roughly 1,800 Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, arrived in Jordan for the start of an almost two-week training exercise known as Eager Lion.

Thousands of Marines and U.S. troops kicked off a major military training exercise that is reportedly set to include civilian evacuation operations, as well as chemical and biological drills. The drills followed the U.S.-led Anglo-alliance’s assault on neighboring Syria, which was allegedly in retaliation for a chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma.

Is Trump’s Broader War against Syria on Hold? A Member State of NATO is “Sleeping with the Enemy”: America is at War with both Syria and Turkey

However, there is an important element which has largely been neglected in recent independent media reports regarding Syria, which suggests that the US could take the decision NOT to engage in the conduct of a major military campaign at this particular juncture.

Why?

The structure of US military alliances is in crisis.

Military Strategy 101 tells us: you do not wage a major war when one of your key allies is “sleeping with the enemy”.

An understanding of the military structure of alliances including cross-cutting coalitions is absolutely crucial. So-called “enduring alliances” in support of America’s “Long War” can no longer be relied upon.

NATO is in crisis: The U.S. and several NATO member states are not only at war with Syria, they are also at war with Turkey which is fighting the US sponsored Kurdish rebel forces in Northern Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

NATO needs to figure out what it will do with its rogue member, Turkey; at the same time, Russia and China are drawing more and more countries into their orbits of influence, in terms of defense, economy, and geopolitics.

This, taken together, does not augur well for the waning influence of the US in these arenas; more and more, the US is presenting all the symptoms of an empire in deep decline.

US Opens New Military Base In Former ISIS Stronghold

So much for President Donald Trump's promises to pull US troops out of Syria.

Despite the US's insistence that it intends to pull troops out of Syria (at some point, possibly in the distant future), local media report that the US has set up a new military facility in Eastern Deir ez-Zor - not far from ISIS's last major stronghold in Syria, which was crushed by the Syrian Army back in November shortly before they declared victory against ISIS. The region is also known for being rich in oil.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The President we got with Trump was absolutely not the President those who supported him during the campaign, thought we were getting, based on his campaign promises.

I consider myself a reasonably articulate woman; however, that being said, I cannot begin to verbally express the profound disappointment I feel, watching the degree to which Trump has been turned into yet another Ziowarhawk, regarding the Middle East, and I fear that he will turn this region into an even further zone of desolation, destruction, and despair for its people, upon the orders of Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu.

There are moments when the international agendas of Israel and the US government align; but there are far too many moments when they do not, and any President of this nation who is fit to lead, has to have the horse-sense to understand that.

Regime-changing Damascus, into a Western-centric, and Western-compliant country means that Israel can continue to illegally occupy the Golan Heights, and continue to sell that region's oil, rather than the profits from those sales going, legitimately, to the Syrian government.

And then, there is the issue of the 6,000 LB gorilla, draped over the Busendorfer grand, in the living room; that issue is just how much Western nonsence Russia, which has been invited by the Syrian government to help defend it against the Western-backed jihadis, is willing to tolerate.

Folks, we are looking at a potential, full-on war against Russia over Syria, and the US military may well lose this war, because it does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the manufacturing; or the money to insure a positive outcome here.

I am so looking forward to this government making smarter choices than it has during this administration; unfortunately, with both Israel and the US
military/industrial complex in control, that may only happen...either when pigs discover they are aerodynamic, or when the US government loses a military conflict in the most horrific, embarrassing, and crippling way possible.

Russia Sells Off Billions in US Debt Amid Skyrocketing Tensions

With the prospect of new US sanctions still looming on the horizon, Russia continues to cut its reserves of US government bonds.

According to updated figures provided by the US Treasury Department, in February, Russia’s hard currency reserves currently held in US Treasuries went down by $3.1 billion and now stand at $93.8 billion, the lowest level since March of last year.

Cashing Out: How New Sanctions Can Push Russia Into Dropping Its US Bonds
Russia still remains the world’s 16th largest holder of US government bonds. China holds the top spot with almost $1.8 trillion, trailed by Japan which has shed some of its US Treasuries.

Webmaster's Commentary:

An asymmetric, but reasonable, Russian response to both these existing, and potential on-coming, sanctions.

If both Russia and China decide to collectively dump their US treasury holdings all at once, it is going to be a very lousy moment for US stock markets.

Lavrov on S-300 Supply: After West's Attack, We Mull All Options to Defend Syria

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry had stated that Russian-made air defense systems deployed by the Syrian forces managed to intercept 71 of 103 missiles, fired by the United States, France and the UK on April 14.

“Several years ago we decided not to supply S-300 systems to Syria at our partners’ request. Now, we will consider options to ensure the Syrian state’s security after this outrageous act of aggression from the United States, France and Great Britain,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the BBC.

Responding to the interviewer’s question whether the foreign minister was implying that the recent developments in Syria had made Russia rethink its stance on supplies of the S-300 long range surface-to-air missile systems, Lavrov said that Moscow was ready to consider any means to help the Syrian army curb further aggression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The deployment of Russia's S-300 in Syria will be an absolute game-changer for any US/UK/French/Israeli plans of aggression against it.

PINK FLOYD FRONTMAN STOPS CONCERT TO EXPLAIN FALSE FLAG CHEMICAL ATTACK IN SYRIA

During a solo concert this week in Barcelona, Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters took a moment to address the audience about the recent bombing of Syria. Waters said he was approached by someone before the concert who wanted to get onstage and speak on behalf of the White Helmets about the alleged chemical attacks in Douma.

Instead of bringing the anonymous man onstage, Waters addressed the crowd on the issue himself, saying that he believes the White Helmets are a propaganda organization on a mission to justify Western intervention in the region. Waters said he believes that the person who wanted to make a statement was well-intentioned, but misled, and then offered his opinion to the audience.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This man's esteem, in terms of his humanitarian vision, and understanding of the optics here, has just risen tremendously for me, by his saying this.
