Syria Rejects Media Reports on Clashes between Russian, Iranian Military Men

A senior Syrian military source rejected media reports on clashes between the Russian forces and Iranian military advisors in Deir Ezzur and Aleppo as "baseless and untrue".

“General Command of the army and armed forces categorically refutes those reports circulated on the websites and newspapers and it asserts that the news are baseless and untrue,” the source was quoted as saying by SANA news agency on Saturday.

The army command called upon different mass media to seek accuracy and be responsible for broadcasting news and avoid battlefield reports unless those issued by a military source, the source added.

Iranian and Russian militaries have been assisting Syria in fighting against the terrorist groups upon official demand of the Syrian government since the first days of war.

Iran has played a military advisory role in the war-torn Arab states.

Some Israeli websites had earlier claimed clashes between Iranian and Russian forces in Western Homs.

Crimea Vows To Ship Oil To Syria Amid Ongoing Fuel Crisis, Thwarting US Sanctions

Via AlMasdarNews.com

The President of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, vowed to help the Syrian Arab Republic amid their ongoing fuel crisis that is a result of the sanctions imposed on the country by western nations.

Aksyonov told Russia’s Sputnik News that there are plans to export wheat, petroleum derivatives and power tools to Syria as well as rebuilding railways there.

He pointed out that whether it is Crimea or Russia, they are willing to export products to Syria in order to help the war-torn nation.

The Crimean President noted that a shipment of wheat and other industrial products is being prepared and will be heading to Syria soon.

He also pointed out that a joint shipment company is being founded, adding that Syria will export citrus fruits, olive and olive oil to Russia.

The fuel crisis in Syria has forced the Syrian government to issue rations on gas in order to deal with the ongoing sanctions that are greatly effecting the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder; just how Crimea will get these supplies, unless they move a lot of them through the Mediterranean, on their way to Tarsus, which is an officially Russian-leased port on the Med.

You know that the US military will be in the Med, guns blazing, attempting to derail the Syria-destined aid, if they get the slightest whisper, that this is really happening happening.

And BINGO, we can look at NATO's website to determine what kind of training exercises are going to be taking place, right around the time that these shipments should be happening.

Fact Sheet: NATO EXERCISES, 2019:

It looks as though the following will be the closest "fit", in terms of a time line:

SPRING STORM
A large-scale live exercise of the Estonian Defence Forces, with
participation from NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence and other Allied
forces. Some 10,000 military personnel are expected to participate.
29 April – 10 May

Folks, that start date for this NATO exercise is 29 April; one week from this Monday.

I hope (and also pray) that the Adults in the Room in the White House, and its Military, are not going to let things get out of hand with these shipments; unfortunately, with a card-carrying Dominionist at the helm of the US State Department, Mikie Pompeo, God only knows what kind of havoc he may have in store for these aid ships, simply trying to get help to a fractured, broken country, (largely courtesy of the last Administration, and the current Administration.)

The location of this drill is also more than a little un-nerving; right after Crimea held its referendum, to determine, post-putsch, if Crimeans wanted to stay with Ukraine, or petition the Russian Federation to become a member (that latter is the one that happened), there was all sorts of chatter that Russia would want to invade Estonia.

And it appears that the American Public is being "groomed" to expect a Russian attack against Baltic nations, which would, of course, would mean that NATO would be stepping in here.

Europe's worst nightmare: here's what a NATO/RUSSIA war would like like, dateline 31 March 019

So, we get this story, end of last month, and NATO exercises in Estonia latter this month, starting 29 March, and headed through the beginning of May.

Coincidence?!?

I hope to Heaven that I am wrong, but when I see dates start to "jive" as they do for this exercise, and potential disruption of a Crimean relief operation for Syria, I don't think that this was a coincidence.

‘Declare war on Lebanon, take out Syria’s S-300s’: Outgoing Israeli general on handling neighbors

Israel has the full arsenal needed to take on Hezbollah in Lebanon and eliminate the Iranian threat in Syria, the outgoing IDF Northern Command chief boasted, warning Damascus against using S-300s to protect its sovereignty.

“If our freedom of movement is threatened, we will remove the threat. We know how to do that,” General Yoel Strick told Ynet News, adding that Israel will soon introduce “advanced weapons systems” to ensure it can continue to violate neighboring states’ airspace and to strike targets in Syria with impunity.

If the Syrians employ Russian S-300s against our planes, and we take them out, it will be seen as a legitimate move on our part.

According to Kurdistan24, DAESH (ISIS) used chlorine gas in Syria

An Iraqi court sentenced to death the Belgian citizen Bilal Abdoul-Aziz al-Marshouhi (aka "Abou Fadhil al-Belgiqi") for his membership of the Islamic Emirate terrorist organization (Daesh is known in the West as Islamic State or by its English acronym, ISIS).

"I was born in Belgium and have Belgian nationality, despite my Moroccan origins (...) I studied engineering at the University of Antwerp. I became a jihadist after becoming friends with someone who read books that preached radical Islam, " he explained.

Accused of having set up a pornographic website, Bilal Abdoul-Aziz al-Marshouhi received military training from the al-Nusra Front (al-Qaeda in Syria), but then left to join Daesh. From then on he was successively a member of the military police, the criminal police and the moral police of Daesh in the occupied part of Aleppo and finally joined the general administration of Daesh in the Syrian city of Raqqa, then considered the capital of the Caliphate.

11 Killed in Syria’s Aleppo as Russian Troops Clash With Shi’ite Militias

With Syria’s major northern city of Aleppo already facing rocket fire from al-Qaeda forces in Idlib, the pro-government forces within the city itself are now causing trouble, with at least 11 reported killed in fighting between the Russian military and Shi’ite militias.

Details are still emerging, but the fighting seems to have taken place near a vegetable market, and several civilians are among the slain, and there are conflicting ideas of what caused the fighting in the first place.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights suggested that control over checkpoints was a big priority, with both sides charging people to cross the checkpoints, and considering it a substantial money-maker.

Ankara Deeply Concerned over US Arms Shipments to Syrian Kurds

A prominent Turkish political analyst underlined Ankara's concerns about Washington's continued arms shipments to the Kurdish militia, warning of the US plans against Syria's territorial integrity by setting the stage for Kurdish
independence.

The Arabic-language service of Sputnik quoted Turki Mahmoud Othman as saying on Tuesday that the US has supplied the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with a large amount of weapons and military equipment.
***
Othman claimed that the US intends to protect and support the SDF with the help of the European forces as it promises Turkey to create a demilitarized zone in Northern Syria to buy time, and warned that the demilitarized zone is likely a trap for Turkey by Washington.

Amnesty International silent on Al-Qaeda war crimes to criminalize Syrian government

Amnesty International’s biased and misleading report ignores the suffering of communities under attack from Al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria’s Idlib.
Tensions are being ratcheted up in the north-westerly provinces of Idlib and Northern Hama and Western media prepares itself for the revival of the notorious “last doctor” meme.

In September 2018 Russian and Turkish negotiators agreed to establish a demilitarized zone in Idlib which should have been completed by October 15, 2018. The reality is that the withdrawal of heavy weaponry has only been partially successful and the remaining armed groups dominated by Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), effectively a rebrand of Al-Qaeda or Al-Nusra Front, have consistently violated the ceasefire and targeted cities, towns and villages on the borders of the so-called “safe zone.”

Back on track: Railway linking Iran to Syria through Iraq

Plans to link the railway networks of Iran, Iraq and Syria have been revealed by a source at the Syrian Ministry of Transport.

“Now, the countries are working on the resumption of the project connecting the railways of Syria, Iran and Iraq,” the source told Al-Watan newspaper yesterday.

“[They] are determining the date of the meeting between the representatives of the countries to develop the points of view.”

The strategic project seeks to link Tehran and Baghdad to the ports in Syria’s north-western city of Latakia. Before the war, 97 per cent of construction of the project on the Syrian side was complete but, large tracts of the railways were bombed during the eight-year conflict.

ISRAEL LAUNCHES OVERNIGHT AIRSTRIKES ON SYRIA MERE DAYS AFTER NETANYAHU "MANAGED" TO HOLD ON TO POWER IN A CLOSE "ELECTION"

Earlier this morning, the Israeli Air Force launched several airstrikes on the key Syrian city of Masyaf in the Hama Governorate. According to a military source near the scene of the airstrikes, the Israeli warplanes hit a number of sites near the Masyaf National Hospital.

The source said the Israeli airstrikes targeted some of the military storages in Masyaf; this resulted in several loud explosions that could be heard as far east as Hama city. He added that the S-300 system was not in use during the Israeli attack.

Masyaf is an important city because it is considered headquarters of the Tiger Forces and several other military units. The S-300 system has also been installed around the city.

Displaced Syrians Leaving Rukban Camp Say US Occupation Forces Starved Thousands of Camp Residents

A new batch of displaced Syrians on Saturday left al-Rukban Camp in al-Tanf area near the Syrian-Jordanian borders and arrived in Jleigem corridor so as to be transferred to makeshift centers in Homs.

The process comes within the framework of the Syrian State's efforts to end the tragedy of tens of thousands of displaced citizens who have been trapped for years in the Rukban camp by US occupation forces and their affiliated terrorists positioned in al-Tanf.

SANA reporter said that tens of displaced families, most of them children, women and elderly, arrived Saturday noon at Jleigem corridor on board of trucks and tractors.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is not the first time the American military have been criticized for their handling of displace Syrians at this particular camp.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – APR.12, 2019: TURKEY AIMS TO SEIZE TELL RIFAAT AFTER RUSSIAN FORCES WITHDRAWAL

On April 11, the Syrian Military Intelligence Directorate prevented a terrorist attack in the city of Homs. Local sources said that intelligence agents dismantled a remotely-controlled heavy improvised-explosive device, which was attached to a civilian vehicle near the Akramah al-Makhzomeh Elementary School. The attack perpetrators were reportedly apprehended in a special operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the failed attack. However, the IED’s remote control appears to be identical to those usually used by ISIS terrorists.

On October 1, 2014, a double-tap terrorist attack targeted this school area killing more than 45 civilians, mostly women and children. Since the start of the collapse of ISIS’ self-styled Caliphate two years ago, the terrorist group’s sleeper cells have made several attempts to carry out attacks within the government-held area. However, the Syrian military, security forces and intelligence have foiled most of them.

How Netanyahu’s election gifts are murdering international law

With the Golan Heights now recognised as Israeli territory by the US, and Russia and Egypt helping to deliver gifts ahead of today’s general election, it looks like Israel’s dramatic swing to the right has been internationally accepted.

“There is a very important principle in international life,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week at the Golan signing ceremony at the White House in Washington DC. “When you start wars of aggression, you lose territory, do not come and claim it afterwards. It belongs to us.” As absurd and preposterous as it may be, he said this with no attempt to find an argument that could be reconciled with reason. This complete indifference to the international community’s opinion says a lot about Netanyahu’s position while US President Donald Trump is in office.

The situation in Syria is remaining relatively stable amid the continued limited ISIS attacks on the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the eastern bank of the Euphrates and ceasefire violations in the Idlib de-militarized zone.

Over the past few days, pro-militant sources have repeatedly claimed that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and even the Russian Aerospace Forces have delivered strikes on so-called “opposition targets” in northern Hama and southern Idlib. While these reports are mostly propaganda exaggerations, the situation there is in fact complicated with both sides attacking each other on more or less constant basis.

Turkey says ‘irresponsible’ Netanyahu cannot change West Bank status

Turkey on Sunday criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “irresponsible” for saying he would annex Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank if he wins Tuesday’s election.

Netanyahu, asked why he had not declared Israeli sovereignty over large West Bank settlements as Israel has already done in the occupied Golan Heights and East Jerusalem, said he was already discussing the move.

U.S. Eyes New Front to Combat Iran in Golan Heights

The Trump administration’s recent recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the contested Golan Heights territory is part of a larger effort by the White House to open new fronts in efforts to combat Iranian militants and terror proxies in the region, according to U.S. officials familiar with the decision.

President Donald Trump won plaudits from the pro-Israel community and allies on Capitol Hill when he announced that America would officially recognize the Golan territory on Israel’s northern border as belonging to the Jewish state, which annexed the area following war with Syria several decades ago.

U.S. officials last week faced down critics of this decision at the United Nations, a forum unfriendly to the Jewish state, telling member countries that the Trump administration will take every step necessary to protect Israel’s right to self defense against Iranian militants and Hezbollah fighters who have used the Golan area to launch terrorist attacks on Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now, it makes sense that President Trump may well think that the Golan Area is the perfect "base" from which he can attack Iranian and Syrian forces, and that was why he tried to lend some "credibility and legitimacy" to Israel's having annexed this area.

Prepare to see major deployments of US military into this area, and most probably, very soon.

Video: US Says Syrian Army Must Withdraw from Golan Heights’ Contact Line

On March 28, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came with a new statement claiming that his country will continue working against Iranian presence in Syria. The statement shows that the Israeli military is set to continue its military campaign in Syria.

In own turn, the US did not limit its recent actions in support of Tel Aviv to recognizing the Golan Heights as Israeli territory. It also demanded the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to withdraw from the separation line area established in the framework of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. US-Israeli efforts to force the SAA to do so could easily turn the Golan Heights into a new hot point and fuel the Syrian conflict further.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, this may be precisely what the US and Israel are hoping, and planning for; The Israeli elections are only 7 days away, on 9 April, so having a military "win" if Syrian forces either attack, or refuse to pull back, would distract the Israeli voting public from Netanyahu's corruption trial.

The big question is, if this happens, what will Russia do?!?!?

GIVING ISRAEL THE GOLAN HEIGHTS IS THE PRICE PAID BY ASSAD TO STAY IN POWER

Trump’s decision not only preserves the status quo and legitimises Israel’s occupation, but is also tantamount to declaring war on international norms, represented by the UN and international law. At a stroke he has imposed the law of the jungle on the Middle East and its people.

Whether the Golan Heights was sold for money or a guarantee of the presidency for Hafez Al-Assad, or both, is not really the issue. Either way, the betrayal is clear. The result was Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights and Hafez Al-Assad becoming president after his military coup against President Nureddin Al-Atassi in 1971.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is an interesting observation; but the real question, and the true "power behind the throne" behind Syria, is Russia.

And I have to ask; will Russia allow this to remain a stable situation?!? My sense is that President Putin is, by both nature and intelligence, a cautious man, and will simply allow this to continue. But if there are any more "nicks and scrapes" against the sovereignty of Syria in other parts of the country, by either Israel and/or the US (which still has troops in Syria, BTW) Putin may "turn loose", militarily, on both entities.

I would like to hope (and pray) that such a scenario will not happen; this country's military doesn't have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money, or the manufacturing, to insure a positive outcome to a war against Russia in Syria (or anywhere else).

Trump’s Golan Heights Stunt Ends Need for Israel-Syria-Palestine Talks - Scholar

The United States' decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights has reportedly increased tensions in the Middle East.

Last week, US President Donald Trump signed a proclamation formally recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

The Golan Heights has been mostly under Israel's control since the country seized the territory during the 1967 Six Day War. While Israel adopted a law to annex the territory in 1981, the United Nations declared the move void, without any legal effects. In 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution urging Israel to immediately withdraw its forces from the territory after the country organized local elections in the area on 30 October.

Syria: Is US Fighting ISIS or Liquidating Assets?

From US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) memos dating back to 2012 noting efforts to create a “Salafist” [Islamic] “principality” [State] in eastern Syria precisely where ISIS rose and now clings to its “final stronghold,” to the obvious fact that ISIS’ fighting capacity was only possible through extensive state sponsorship – it was already clear that the US and its partners in regime change against Syria had been using terrorists including ISIS as proxy ground forces.

Now the US claims it has cornered and is on the verge of defeating ISIS – despite the terrorist group having been cleared out of virtually every other corner of the nation by Syrian, Russian, Iranian, and Hezbollah forces long ago.

In reality, the US is merely liquidating assets it had harbored, protected, armed, and funded throughout the 8 year proxy war until no longer politically feasible.

Grand Theft Syria: Cynthia McKinney Exposes Golan Heights Oil Interests In The White House

Back in December before Christmas came around, there was a Christmas miracle (Awoo!), 2008 Green Party presidential candidate and former congresswoman Cynthia McKinney exposed Jared Kushner’s evil deeds for Israel’s interests. This included Israeli-backed energy corporation Genie Energy being directly involved in the White House while exploiting the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights (Syria), and its parent company IDT Corporation using placement in the Trump administration to facilitate its 5G portfolio into the hands of Israeli intelligence start-ups like Armis and telecommunications giant Verizon.

America Has Shown Its Approval Of Territorial Theft

Is there any other country on Earth with which America would dare collude on such a scale? Forget the “special relationship” with the crackpots in Britain, or the New World coming to the rescue of the Old World in the Second World War. There’s only one special relationship that matters right now – and we all know what that is. Having given its blessing to all Jerusalem as Israeli property and having now handed Golan to Israel as a possession – for “to annex” means “to take possession”, does it not? – Donald Trump has undermined the entire foundation of “land for peace” enshrined in Security Council Resolution 242. And Israel is happy. A gift for Benjamin Netanyahu’s re-election, we are told.

American soldiers aren't dying for our freedom in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. They're dying for nothing

President Trump has promised repeatedly to end “endless wars,” during both his campaign and his tenure so far in office. Despite this rhetoric, endless — and, frankly, pointless —wars are, sadly, still the American norm.

Two more Americans were just killed in Afghanistan — a war that the Trump administration realises needs to end, but seems in no hurry to actually do so. In December 2018, Trump announced that all US troops would be withdrawn from Syria, only to later rescind that declaration in favour of a small force of 400 to 1,000 troops to stay behind indefinitely, complementing the more than 5,000 troops in Iraq, who are there to satiate the administration’s obsession with Iran.

Soldiers who were children when the Afghanistan war began are dying. It’s well past time to bring all of our troops from Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq home.

SYRIAN WAR REPORT – APRIL 1, 2019: US SAYS SYRIAN ARMY MUST WITHDRAW FROM GOLAN HEIGHTS’ CONTACT LINE

Over 50 ISIS members were eliminated by strikes of the US-led coalition in the outskirt of the town of al-Baghuz al-Fawqani in the Euphrates Valley over the past few days, local sources reported. The airstrikes were a part of the operation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the coalition in the area, which is ongoing despite a formal US statement declaring defeat over ISIS.

According to local sources, a notable number of ISIS members is still hiding in a network of caves and underground tunnels in the area.

Besides this, ISIS cells within the SDF-held area have recently carried out a series of attacks killing at least 10 SDF members near the town of Diban and in the area of the Omar oil fields, on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.

large group of residents and activists in different cities and towns of Quneitra, Sweida, Deir Ezzur, Homs and Damascus provinces poured to the streets on Sunday to condemn Trump's measure.

They said that Trump's remarks will not change the Arab-Syrian identity of the Golan Heights, and urged the necessity for the liberation of the region as soon as possible.

The protestors also blasted the US-Israeli attempts to rise tensions and undermine the Syrian nation and army's achievements in the war on terrorism>>>

The Arabic-language Baghdad al-Youm news website quoted a security source as saying on Saturday that the US forces have launched heliborne operations in Syria near the border with Iraq to transfer a key ISIL terrorist to their bases in the country.

Meantime, an Iraqi source earlier said that the US forces have informed the Syrian Democratic Forces after the SDF's control over the town of Baqouz that ISIL ringleader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is still in Syria.

Local sources said earlier this month that more ISIL terrorists had been evacuated from Eastern Deir Ezzur by the US forces.

Many US Troops Will Stay in Syria, Officials Confirm

nitially announced as a total withdrawal from Syria by President Trump, the administration has backpedaled repeatedly, to the point where a large portion of US forces will be remaining on the ground in Syria, and about 1,000 or the current 2,000 are liable to spend the bulk of 2019 in Syria.

Officials say the current plan, such as it is, would be to draw down to about 1,000 by early May, and then “pause” for about six months. Then, there would be a consideration of withdrawing some more troops, perhaps getting down to 400.

This is why there were reports the US intends to keep 1,000 troops in Syria, because they do, and why the administration’s objections, and arguments that the plan is still 400, is highly misleading, as that’s now a best-case scenario.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But what, please, is supposed to happen after this "pause"?!?

Is something really nasty supposed to happen in November of this year, as this will be the time the "pause" is supposed to end?!?

But there is something upon the wind here, which is neither peaceful, nor of the will of the Syrian people; something wicked this way comes in Syria, and I think that is a pretty reasonable statement at this time.

Talk Of Golan Annexation Leaves Out Those Expelled From It

The vast majority of Israelis are still unaware that over 130,000 residents of the Golan Heights were expelled from their villages, towns, and cities during the 1967 war. In fact, over the past decades, the territory has become a “consensus” issue among most Israelis, with many seeing no reason to return it. So while President Trump stunned the world last week by recognizing Israel’s annexation of the Golan, in Israel almost everyone celebrated the move.

Like in the case of Palestinian refugees, for decades the official Israeli line was that the Golan’s inhabitants simply fled of their own accord. According to Syrian estimates, however, only approximately 50,000 of them escaped Israeli bombardments and left alongside the retreating Syrian army. Israeli soldiers admitted in interviews that many residents stayed behind and waited to return to their villages, while others attempted to re-cross the armistice lines.

The ISIS-linked news agency, Amaq, announced on March 29 that the terrorist group’s cells had killed six fighters of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and injured three others in two separate attacks in the Middle Euphrates River Valley.

In the first attack, the terrorist group’s operatives targeted a vehicle of the SDF near the town of Diban with a remote-controlled improvised-explosive device (IED). Later, terrorists opened fire at a second vehicle of US-backed forces while it was passing through the same area.

FLASHBACK - Israel provoked the Six-Day War in 1967, and it was not fighting for survival

Finkelstein insists we cannot understand the Six-Day War without going back 11 years, to the 1956 Suez Crisis. That year, the Egyptian leader, Nasser, nationalized the Suez Canal — and Israel, Britain and France launched an unprovoked joint invasion of Egypt to seize the waterway back. But the United States, under President Dwight Eisenhower, opposed the attack, and pressured the tripartite invasion force to withdraw and leave the Canal to Egypt. Suez was a catastrophe for all three invading nations, and British Prime Minister Anthony Eden was forced to resign. Meanwhile, Nasser’s reputation in the Arab world, and across Africa, Asia and Latin America, rose to new heights.

'Why not give Israel North & South Carolina?' Syrian envoy asks US at UN

Syria's UN ambassador has suggested the US hand "a couple" of its own states over to Israel instead of flouting international law and selling others' land for favors with the Israeli lobby, like it did with the Golan Heights.

Syria's UN Ambassador Bashar Jaafari offered a stark rebuke to the US-backed Israeli claim to the occupied Golan Heights at the UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday. Jaafari said the Trump administration does the bidding of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN to curry favor with the powerful Israeli lobby in the US.

Is Trump’s Golan move another Balfour Declaration?

The Balfour Declaration was issued in 1917 by the then British Foreign Secretary, Arthur Balfour, who viewed “with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people”. Netanyahu: Golan Endorsement ‘Proves’ Israel Can Keep Occupied Territories

Still trying to make political gains on President Trump’s endorsement of the Golan Heights annexation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is hinting that Trump’s extra-legal decree could have broad ramifications across the occupied territories.

Netanyahu claimed Trump’s move “proves” that Israel is able to hold occupied territories permanently, telling reporters that anything that is occupied “in a defensive war, then it’s ours.”

That the 1967 War actually saw Israel attack several countries and seize territory from them is beside the point, as Netanyahu and a generation of politicians have engaged in enough historical revisionism to sell at least a modicum of the far right on the idea that the attack was a “preemptive war.” The war not only saw the capture of Golan Heights from Syria, but also of the West Bank from Jordan.

The US decision to recognize the Golan Heights as Israel's territory was taken bypassing the UN Security Council and ignoring the UN dialogue on the issue, said Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of Russia’s Lower House.

“All members of the international community should voice their stand on the matter,” he said during the meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

Such a development could lead to a situation where “everyone is fighting each other,” he stressed. “The rule of force would dominate. This is a highway to war.”

US backs Israel’s ‘sovereignty’ over Golan Heights, proving sovereignty is not something it respects

The US’s “recognition” of the Golan Heights as Israeli territory is brazen – but it’s no surprise. Washington itself violates the sovereignty of other countries with such regularity that it barely even raises eyebrows anymore.

US President Donald Trump signed a declaration on Monday recognizing Israeli “sovereignty” over the disputed, strategically important and (surprise!) resource-rich region. In a joint press conference with Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the declaration “historic justice.”

Back in reality, the Golan Heights is recognized as Syrian territory in international law, having been seized by Israel in a land grab during the Six-Day War in 1967 and later officially annexed in a 1981 Israeli law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Are you surprised? Look at all the nations whose sovereignty is being violated with US' wars and regime change!

Trump’s Golan Heights recognition is a ‘move towards further isolation’ for the US

The US move to recognize the Israeli claim to the occupied Golan Heights will unlikely result in legal repercussions for Washington, but will further set it apart from the rest of the international community, analysts told RT.

US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the territory of the Golan Heights, seized by Israel from Syria during the Six-Day War of 1967 and formally annexed by the Jewish state in 1981, has drawn condemnation from the UN, the Arab League, Russia and Turkey.

Saudi Arabia denounces US recognition of Golan Heights as Israeli territory

Saudi Arabia denounced US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Israel’s 1981 annexation of the Golan Heights, a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency said early on Tuesday, Reuters reports.

“Attempts to impose fait accompli do not change the facts,” the statement said. It said the Golan Heights was an “occupied Syrian Arab land in accordance with the relevant international resolutions”.

“It will have significant negative effects on the peace process in the Middle East and the security and stability of the region,” it said.
