In 2018 The US Government Will Spend Nearly $2 Billion a Day on War

While the United States Congress has struggled to pass legislation governing taxes and healthcare, it had no problem uniting on the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act—a bill that will ensure the U.S. continues to wage wars around the world, and that promises taxpayers will cover its costly expenses.

The price tag on the latest NDAA is a massive $700 billion, which means that for every day in 2018, American taxpayers will spend nearly $2 billion on war.

What Does Veteran Holidays and Martin Luther King Day Have in Common?

When it comes to Veteran’s day that celebrates Armistice Day, Memorial Day honoring the Dead that fell in all wars, and Martin Luther King’s birthday are the day I call the day of political two-faced hypocrisy. The day when public figures in politics or not go out and make speeches saying how much they care about their concerns. When the days is over they go back to their state or the capitals and betray the very people they say they care so much about. It makes my stomach turn when I hear these parasites lie through their teeth.

“You Are Now Entering the American Sector” (Will Syria Be Partitioned?)

Do not take your eyes off the ball, remember that all this delicate pussyfooting is about power.

Russia avoided the Syrian quagmire despite dire predictions. Putin minimised his footprint, his war is almost over, ISIL has been defeated. Trump could also exclaim “Mission is completed!” – and fly home.

But, it seems he is eager to rush in where angels fear to tread. Trump does not mind doing for the Israeli Prime Minister what his predecessors, whether Democrats or Republicans, refused, namely, fighting Israel’s war by indefinitely extending the hostile and illegal occupation of Syria.

Why Is Putin “Allowing” Israel to Bomb Syria? The Saker

The truth is that “the Russians are *not* coming”. The key for Putin is to do what needs to be done to advance Russian interests but without triggering an internal or external political crisis.

Trying to reason with the Israelis or get them to listen to the UN has been tried by many countries for decades and if there is one thing which is beyond doubt is that the Israelis don’t give a damn about what anybody has to say. So talking to them is just a waste of oxygen. What about threatening them? Actually, I think that this could work, but at what risk and price?

Kiev’s actions with regard to Donbass look like preparation for new war — Foreign Ministry

Ukraine’s passing the law on the reintegration of Donbass can be seen as preparations for a new war, says a commentary of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

"Since being approved under the first reading (on October 6, 2017), the document, although having undergone certain corrections, has preserved its main orientation - to legislatively confirm Kiev’s policy towards the settlement of the ‘problem of Donbass’ through the use of force," the ministry said.

"In particular, it announced reformatting of the so-called anti-terrorist operation into a military one and delegation of control over it to the military to whom all the rest law enforcement officers will be subordinated," it said.

Ukraine’s parliament passes law on Donbass reintegration
"In essence, Poroshenko gets unrestricted, almost dictatorial powers for suppressing dissidence and discontent. This cannot be called otherwise than preparations for a new war," it stressed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And on top of THAT, we have the following articles, which do not augur well for peace in the region:

Trump Administrtion Approves lethal weapons sales to Ukraine

This deal is valued at +/- $41.5 million dollars. Precisely when the weapons will arrive has not yet been revealed.

And then, we have this little gem:

Ukrainian Parliament Passes a Bill to Wrest "Occupied Territories from Russia"

Good luck with THAT!!

There is just one little tiny, teensy logic flaw here, specifically when it comes to Crimea; Russia never, ever annexed Crimea.

And please remember how President Barak Obama characterized the putsch:

Washington was behind the Ukraine Coup; Obama admits it brokered a deal in support of regime change The article goes on to state:

"US President Barack Obama’s recent interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakiria reveals the United States’ involvement in the Ukrainian crisis from its outset and that the country worked directly with Ukrainian right-wing fascist groups, experts told Sputnik.

On Sunday, in his interview with CNN, Obama admitted that the United States “had brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine.”

“Obama’s statement is reiterating something that the world public opinion already knew — the US was involved in the coup of [ex-Ukrainian President] Viktor Yanukovych from the start. History shows us that the US has overthrown numerous governments in Latin America, Asia and Africa and replaced them with leaders that ruled with a fascist ideology that proved useful for Washington’s geopolitical interests,” independent researcher and writer Timothy Alexander Guzman told Sputnik.

After the US sponsored Putch in Ukraine in 2014, which threw the duly elected Yanukovich under the proverbial bus, and "installed" Poroshenko (the candy guy, remember?!?) in Kiev, with an election more crooked than a dog's hind leg, the Crimeans understood that there was no more a legitimate, national Ukrainian government.

So what did they do?!? They held two free, and fair, referundums, the first being to ask their citizens if they wanted to stay in Ukraine, or join the Russian Federation. Overwhelmingly, Crimea's citizens wanted to join the Russian Federation. After that, the Russian Federation, agreed, and Crimea became a part of the Russian Federation.

But because of wanting to keep the optics negative on "Bad Russia, it annexed Crimea!" the US, and Ukrainian governments refuse to call it "an act of peaceful self-determination", which it was, and which is enshrined in the UN Charter, to which Ukraine and the US are both (allegedly) signatories.

But two things are powerfully clear here; the US government lies consistently, and regime changes other countries to suit its geopolitical agenda, and even with the US weapons, the Ukrainian military are going to be utterly no match for what the Russians will give their soldiers, potentially fighting in Eastern Ukraine.

‘It might get ugly:’ Bay Area cities brace for ICE sweeps

Swarming federal agents who are conducting raids and arrests will lead to people getting killed. This part of Cali's reaction appears to be a Seditious Conspiracy which may snowball into an Insurrection.

Fear is growing in immigrant communities that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is getting ready to launch massive raids across California — a threat that activists and politicians say is retaliation against the Golden State’s bold “sanctuary” policies.

ICE director Thomas Homan recently told Fox News that the agency will significantly increase enforcement across the state and warned California to “hold on tight.” And a report by the San Francisco Chronicle this week said ICE is planning raids targeting Northern California cities, with the goal of arresting more than 1,500 immigrants.

Koreas’ Olympic Détente Upends US Strategy

The 20+ nations in Vancouver talking about North Korea repeatedly heard the same message from US officials: pay no attention to the bilateral talks between North and South Korea, with officials suggesting they not be “fooled” by the talks and suggesting that nothing would come of them.

That’s a problem for the US though, because something is coming of those talks. North and South Korea may have generations of mistrust to work through, but made big progress in just a few meetings, agreeing to march unified at next month’s Winter Olympic, and even field a common team for ice hockey.

Significant reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula seems to be happening, and it’s a big blow to Trump Administration strategy, which has centered on isolating North Korea and presenting the whole world, beyond China and Russia of course, as unified against them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This...is the absolute, polar opposite from what the US government wanted to see out of these talks, which was more acrimony and more separation between North and South Korea.

Which is why you see Rex Tillerson, sounding nearly completely unhinged, and detached, again from all reality, making the following statement:

Tillerson threatens military action against North Korea

The article goes on to state:

"Tillerson’s position doesn’t make a lot of sense with all factors considered, suggesting the US goal is negotiations, and that the US would respond to North Korea’s refusal to negotiate with military force against them.

In reality, North Korea has repeatedly suggested negotiations in recent weeks, and been rebuffed every single time by the US. Tillerson is clearly aware of this, as every time he’s suggested talks, he too has been condemned by other Trump Administration officials."

It is unfortunate that the 25th Amendment to the US constitution only applies to the President, and not others down the chain of command.

Turkey launches first ground operation in northern Iraq

The Turkish military has launched a land operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, stating that its aim is to “prevent PKK militants from threatening border security.”

The operation is the first time in nine years that Turkish land forces have engaged in Iraq.

Commando units entered the Zap region of Iraq after crossing from the Çukurca district of the southeastern province of Hakkari. The move, which is part of “Operation Zap,” came after the military determined an increase in movement of outlawed militants in the area, Do?an News Agency reported on Oct. 18.

A total of 21 PKK militants have been “neutralized” since the air-supported operations began on Oct. 16, according to statements made by the military. Authorities use the word “neutralized” to refer to militants who are killed, wounded or captured.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Even though this happened last Sunday, and one might think that this is at least some kind of "big deal", not a word in the western media about Turkey launching a ground invasion of Iraq.

Tillerson: US Troops Will Remain in Syria to Stop Resurrection of Daesh

The diplomatic efforts of the United States in Syria will focus on stabilization measures and a political solution to the conflict there, but not on nation-building, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a speech on the US strategy in Syria.

Meanwhile, the United States has sent additional diplomats to Syria since May to help address the country's conflict, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stressed in a speech.

"Since May, the United States has deployed additional diplomats to the affected areas in Syria working with the United Nations, our partners in the global coalition to defeat ISIS [Daesh] and various non-governmental organizations," Tillerson said.

Moreover, US Secretary of State said that the United States would maintain a military presence in Syria to ensure that the Daesh terror group does not re-emerge in the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Rex, Rex, Rex, Rex, Rex, Rex!!!!

Forgive me, sir, but in what alternative, fact-free universe do you continue to live, sir?!?

At the behest of the Syrian Government, Russian troops have made absolute mincemeat out of Daesh, sending them collectively scurrying out of Syria with their collective tails between their legs. But there is one thing you have chosen, very carefully , to leave out of your speech, verified in a number of articles in the international press:

In secret deal, President Trump Allowed ISIS fighters safe passage out of Raqqa

Video emerges: US allowing ISIS fighters to escape safely from Syria

Trump enrages Turkey; lest hundreds of Islamic State members to leave Raqqa.

US airlifts ISIS/Daesh terrorists out of Syria for the 2nd time in a week

And last, but not least, validated earlier this month:Images: US creates safe passage for Daesh out of Syria

Can you say, "collusion", Secretary of State Tillerson?!? Wow! I knew you could!!

Oh, and on to another related story:

Syrian Arby vow to end US presence in Syria

The Syrians have been working very successfully with Russian troops to get Daesh out of Syria.

So I must ask, Secretary of State Tillerson; are the 30,000 troops in Syria the "sacrificial lambs" to be used to create a false flag against Russia, as a pretext for war against it?

Because right now, in light of the documented reality that the US goverment has been in collusion with, and supporting Daesh, militarily and financially, I can come up with no other reasonable explanation for their presence here.

15 YEARS AFTER THE INVASION OF IRAQ, AND NOW LARGELY OUT OF THE GLARE OF THE MEDIA, US AND UK OIL CORPORATIONS START TO FLAUNT THE SPOILS OF IMPERIAL CONQUEST.

After 15 years of repudiating claims that the invasion of Iraq was only initiated to seize Iraqi resources, large oil corporations fronted by former architects of the war who vacated to the private sector are flagrantly advertising their contracts for exploration and production of Iraqi oil fields to potential investors.

The British oil and gas company BP won the contract to operate the Rumaila Oil Field back in 2009, and now proudly boast of its new drilling capabilities on Twitter. Rumaila is simply huge; by some measures it is the third largest reserve of crude oil on the planet, and is currently extracting 100 million dollars worth of oil every day – enough to cover the annual health budget of Iraq under the wartime rule of the US coalition every five days.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So now, it can be honestly shouted from the rooftops; one of the biggest winners in the war against Iraq is... BRITISH PETROLEUM!!

Funny; I don't remember the Butchers of Baghdad (that unholy triumverate of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld) saying anything about the ultimate winners of the Iraq war being the large petroleum companies who would profit by a takeover of the Iraqi oil fields, or how the US would benefit from that oil only being sold in US dollars.

To the young men and women who enlisted shortly after 9/11, and thought that a war against Iraq would be the perfect revenge; you were decieved with every piece of nationalistic codswallop the US government threw at you, and you swallowed all of them whole.

This war was not about honor, courage, or preserving and defending "the American way of life", whatever that is supposed to be; it was about the money to be made from Iraq's oil reserves, and the reality that the oil would only be sold in US dollars.

Of course, the US warmongering politicians, who benefit greatly from their relationships with America's military/industrial complex, attending memorials for one of our fallen, can never tell the truth as to why this war was initiated in the first place; so they simply reguritate the lies which stand as "cover" for the ugly truth that all wars, including the Iraq war, are truly economic in their origin.

At this moment in time, we stand on a precipice of yet another world war, most likely to be initiated by the American Deep State.

To those young people of draft age, if in fact you have dual citizenship in a country not on the US's invasion route (somewhere maybe like Switzerland, Australia, or Monaco) perhaps heading to those places, and hunkering down there, might not be a bad idea at the moment. And I say that because were I a betting person, I would not bet against the draft being reinstituted in this country, and relatively quickly.

The US government understands that the economy in this country is about to crash, so it desperately needs a war, regional or world-wide, to deflect American attention from the real economic mess into which it has placed all but the most elite, and most monied.

The potential scenarios for conflict are everywhere, and I will mention the most obvious here.

1. The US military is establishing a 30,000 troop strong "buffer zone" for the Kurds in Syria. The Syrian and Russian government are screaming at the US to stand down... or else. And this gets complicated because Turkey's Edrogan has threatened, and appears to be readying, an invasion Syria, to prevent that from happening. So you have NATO allies, potentially the US and Turkey, at each other's throats, militarily.

The longer the US stays inside Syria, the more likely a hot conflict with Russia over this illegal invasion of Syria by the US military.

2. North Korea/China. Even though North and South Korea appear to be making splendid progress in recent negotiations toward peace, expect the US to scupper what it can, in terms of creating a war between North Korea, China, and the US. Statements as recently as yesterday, indicate that the US government is terrified of peace breaking out here, with President Trump making the observation that it is possible that these negotiations will not lead to a denuclearization of the North Korean Penninsula, and Tillerson's observation that the US will not honor the "freeze for freeze" concept, presented by Russia and China.

3. Russia/Iran. I have already mentioned the possibility of war over Syria between Russia and the United States, but there are many other potential flashpoints, Ukraine being a very likely scenario. But should the US/Saudi Arabia/Israel attack Tehran, in order to bring regime change there, it should reasonably expect Russia to defend Iran militarily. And we have seen, in Syria, that Russia does have military hardware which works spectacularly well, and countries around the world have been making a beeline to Moscow to acquire these weapons.

4. China/India: there are still massive geopolitical problems here, and both countries are nuclear armed. In a conflict between China and India, the US government has thrown its hat in the ring with India, with an enhanced "security agreement" put into effect by the Obama administration.

5. India/Pakistan: Again, both countries are nuclear armed, and have been threatening each other with nuclear war. Recently, the US government withdrew financial aid to Pakistan. And, as mentioned in an earlier post today, India just tested a nuclear-capable missile, the "jewel in the crown", if you will, of their ICBMs.

So please remember, when the propaganda starts getting spread hard and thick by the presstitutes, as a "justification" for war, any war, please remember; wars are about the rich (and the bankers) getting richer, and the "grunts" being completely expendable, through death or massive injury, after having done what they were tasked to do. All wars are mass murders toward those ends, period, end of discussion, wrapped in a pretty, cheap little flag.

And "patriotism" is the pathological disability to see beyond the propaganda, and to deconstruct the real agendas of war, which are always engineered to bring more money and profits for the already monied and profitable.

‘Washington must stop spending tax dollars to fund regime change wars’ – Tulsi Gabbard

In a shot across the bows of the US regime change hawks, the congresswoman from Hawaii has implored her fellow legislators to vote to end foreign entanglements. Few, however, seem willing to heed the call.
Gabbard, who served a 12-month tour in Iraq as a field medic, called on her fellow lawmakers to rally behind the ‘Stop Arming Terrorists Act,’ which she submitted to Congress early last year.

“The practice of spending taxpayer dollars to fund counterproductive regime change wars must end,” she tweeted. “It is long overdue we pass the Stop Arming Terrorists Act to prevent terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda or state sponsors like Saudi Arabia from receiving cash, weapons, or intelligence.”

India tests-fires Agni-V, a nuclear-capable ICBM

India has successfully test-fired a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the country's Defense Ministry said Thursday.

The nuclear-capable Agni-V is believe to be India's most advanced ICBM. It was fired Thursday morning India time from Abdul Kalam island off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha, the ministry said in a tweet.

It called the test a "major boost" to the country's defense capabilities.

"We will call the (nuclear) bluff of Pakistan. If we will have to really confront the Pakistanis, and a task is given to us, we are not going to say we cannot cross the border because they have nuclear weapons. We will have to call their nuclear bluff," Gen. Rawat warned, responding to a question during a press conference on the “possibility of Pakistan using its nuclear weapons in case the situation along the border deteriorates,” said the Hindustan Times.'

Tillerson Breaks With White House, Rejects Freeze Of Military Exercises Near North Korea

In a direct reversal with the recently disclosed official White House policy, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the U.S. rejects a 'freeze for freeze' approach that would pause joint U.S./South Korean military drills in exchange for a pause to North Korea's nuclear program.

Speaking in Vancouver at a meeting with foreign ministers, Tillerson said that "we reject a 'freeze for freeze' approach, in which legitimate defensive military exercises are placed on the same level as the DPRK’s unlawful actions. The pressure campaign will continue until North Korea takes decisive steps to de-nuclearize."

Turkey Notifies NATO Of Imminent Massive Invasion Of Syria To Fight Kurds

Turkey is poised for an imminent massive ground invasion of Northern Syria to quash Kurdish militia groups currently holding Afrin near the Turkish border. Multiple regional outlets have reported a build-up of forces that could constitute the largest external intervening force thus far in the entirety of the Syrian war.

According to Middle East based Al-Sura News, Turkey's military build-up currently underway includes special forces troops, Army units, Turkish-backed Syrian Rebels and Turkey's air force. The Kurdish YPG/J (People's Protection Units) has held Afrin since the Syrian government withdrew from the area in 2012, which constitutes the western-most part of the self-declared Rojava autonomous Kurdish zone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia Begins Massive ICBM Launch Drills

On Monday, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation issued a warning to NATO that is has started a massive missile drill involving truck-mounted intercontinental ballistic missile launchers across the country.

The Defense Ministry said the drills would involve “missile regiments armed with Topol-M and Yars mobile systems.” The Topol-M is designed to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) tipped with a single 550 kT yield nuclear warhead. Max range of the ICBM is 6,500 miles, which the mobile launching unit is extremely tough for NATO to track.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With all the potential for conflict with NATO, and/or the US goverment, raging from Eastern Europe to the 'Stans, North Korea and Syria, the timing of these drills is an warning here in and of itself.

US-Backed Syrian Kurds Mobilize Civilians, Turkey May Attack ‘At Any Moment’

The Kurdish YPG is scrambling to raise its civilian population into an irregular force in the Afrin District of Northern Syria, desperately trying to shore up defenses ahead of a Turkish invasion which officials say could happen “at any moment.”

Turkey’s President Erdogan vowed such an invasion over the weekend, and has been talking it up ever since, insisting now that Turkey needs to not only take Afrin, but to strangle the US-backed border army before it is fully operational.

The US has said the border force will be 30,000-strong, and Erdogan is loudly opposed to the idea, calling it a “terror army,” and insisting that the only reason to establish such a border force would be to attack Turkey.

Webmaster's Commentary:

War with Turkey (and, potentially, Russia) over Northern Syria?!?

This is completely insane, on the part of all parties, except for Syria, which simply wants to be left alone, and Russia, which severely frowns on this illegal occupation on the part of the US.

This could go absolutely out of control at any moment. Let us hope that some adults in the room (Namely, Putin and Lavrov) can ratchet down the tensions before this escalates past the point of no return.

America’s shadow war in Africa

A central focus of the mission is the vast desert nation of Niger, nearly twice the size of Texas, which has been a magnet for jihadists of many stripes, including those recruited locally and so-called foreign fighters drawn from North Africa, the Middle East and beyond.

In June, the official number of U.S. troops supporting Niger’s military as it fights the militant groups was 645, up from 575 in December 2016. But now it’s at least 800, according to the Pentagon.

Many of the troops are Green Berets, Navy SEALs and Marine Raiders, but officials said the reinforcements have mostly been Air Force personnel who are there to manage a surge in surveillance flights by unmanned drones and manned spy planes.

Syrian Army Vow to End US Presence in Syria

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has responded negatively to the US pledge to create a new “border” force in northern Syria of some 30,000 US-backed fighters, saying not only are they violating Syrian sovereignty, but the Syrian Army’s goal must be to end the US presence in the country outright.

Syria has long opposed the US military presence in the country, which was deployed without Syrian permission, and which Pentagon officials say will last long after the outright defeat of ISIS.

Whether the Syrians can do anything about it is another matter. The US presence in Syria is substantial, and backed by a large, heavily-armed Kurdish force. Despite the US deployment being plainly illegal, there’s no practical way to remove them by force.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The real question is, how long with the Russians put up with this American foolishness until they feel pressed to "do something militarily" to end it?!?

Syria militants in US seeking CIA dollars to ‘confront Iran’s influence’

Syria militant leaders are in the United States demanding American dollars to fund an allegedly defunct CIA program to “confront Iran’s influence.”

Representatives of the so-called Free Syrian Army are reportedly pressing Americans to revive the program that provides military aid to the militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

In July, US President Donald Trump reportedly ended the clandestine program, to provide arms and supplies to the militant groups, who attempt to destabilize the situation Syria.

US-led coalition intends to create large new border force in Syria: Report

The so-called military coalition led by the United States in Syria is reportedly planning to set up a new large border force of up to 30,000 personnel with the aid of its militia allies in war-torn country, a move that will further infuriate Turkey, a NATO ally that is already angry over Washington’s strong support for Kurdish-dominated forces in the Arab country.

Pakistan Threatens India With Nuclear War After Indian Army Chief's Statement

Hawaii’s ballistic missile attack on Saturday turned out to be nothing more than fat-fingered "fake news" by State officials. However, a far more significant threat of nuclear war is growing on the border between India and Pakistan, called the Line of Control (LoC), which continues to be generally ignored by Western media outlets.

Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said Friday his military was ready to call Pakistan’s “nuclear bluff” and carry out aggressive military operations across the border.

"We will call the (nuclear) bluff of Pakistan. If we will have to really confront the Pakistanis, and a task is given to us, we are not going to say we cannot cross the border because they have nuclear weapons. We will have to call their nuclear bluff," Gen. Rawat warned, responding to a question during a press conference on the “possibility of Pakistan using its nuclear weapons in case the situation along the border deteriorates,” said the Hindustan Times.

Erdogan vows to ‘drown’ US-backed Syrian Border Force before it’s born, labels unit ‘terrorist army'

The Turks are going after the US supported terrorists in Eastern Syria and Erdogan means to drive the US Terrorist Special Forces advisers out with them.
The drones against the Russian base have really backfired. Can you say Asymetrical Warfare?

The Turkish president has called US-backed Syrian Border Force using Kurdish fighters a “terrorist army,” vowing to “drown” it before it’s complete. He also added that military preparations against Kurdish-held Afrin are ready.

“Our duty is to drown this terrorist force before it is born,” the Turkish leader said on Monday, as cited by AP.

“This is what we have to say to all our allies: don't get between us and terrorist organizations, or we will not be responsible for the unwanted consequences,” Erdogan said, as cited by Turkish media. He added that Turkish forces will battle “until not a single terrorist remains along our borders, let alone 30,000 of them.”

Self-Defense Myths and Choices for Civilians – The Saker

I encourage everybody to think for themselves and in their own interest. I hope that this will contribute to your reflection.

What I want to do today is to debunk a very dangerous myth which is almost universally accepted and which is repeated with an almost religious fervor day after day and by almost everybody: that semi-automatic pistols are better for the self-defense needs of civilians than revolvers.

First, let’s cover the basics: semi-auto (aka “autoloader”) vs revolvers (aka “wheelguns”).

Nuclear War Survival Skills Updated and Expanded 1987 Edition Cresson H. Kearny

An all-out nuclear war between Russia and the United States would be the worst catastrophe in history, a tragedy so huge it is difficult to comprehend. Even so, it would be far from the end of human life on earth. The dangers from nuclear weapons have been distorted and exaggerated, for varied reasons. These exaggerations have become demoralizing myths, believed by millions of Americans.

° Myth: Fallout radiation from a nuclear war would poison the air and all parts of the environment. It would kill everyone. (This is the demoralizing message of On the Beach and many similar pseudoscientific books and articles.)

Russian Journalists Blow Lid Off Alleged US Terrorist Training Network in Syria

The Pentagon was forced to go into full public relations mode late last month amid fresh allegations by the Russian General Staff that US instructors were providing training assistance for some 350 ex-Daesh (ISIS) militants at the US Army's al-Tanf garrison in the southern Syrian province of Homs. Chief of Staff General Valery Gerasimov accused Washington of intending to use the militants to create a so-called 'New Syrian Army', a military formation aimed at further destabilizing the war-torn country after Daesh had been defeated.

10 Examples Proving The US Gov't is an Expert at Turning Countries into 'Shitholes'

The mainstream media's outrage over reports that President Trump referred to Haiti and El Salvador as "Shithole countries," has gone above and beyond any outrage attributed to the fact that the United States has let its Central Intelligence Agency have free reign over the governments it overthrows and the countries the U.S. invades.

As a result, the countries that have received more than their share of "freedom" from the U.S. have turned into the very definition of "shithole" countries, and have spent years attempting to recover. Here are the top 10:

Korea: Peace Breaks Out Despite McMaster

This isn’t just about the Olympics: it’s the beginning of a new phase in North-South relations, and the start of the decoupling process that was begun, ironically, by this President when he brought up the US-South Korean trade imbalance and raised the possibility during the presidential campaign of withdrawing US troops and having the South take care of their own defense. This no doubt got the South Koreans – particularly then candidate Moon – to thinking that maybe it’s time to strike out on a more independent course … and start putting Korea first.

Who or What Is Feeding the Unrest in Iran? Philip Giraldi

Given the history of foreign interventions in the Middle East, is the United States or Israel plausibly involved in the demonstrations?
The answer to that is both yes and no. There is considerable evidence that the United States and possibly Israel, joined by Saudi Arabia, have set up several command centers in Iraq and Afghanistan to support the protests. They have been using social networking as well as radio broadcasts to encourage the people to get out and demonstrate. One such station called AmadNews, broadcasting from outside Iran, called on demonstrators to attack police stations and government buildings. It appears to be a US government front manned by Persian speaking Israelis.

Where in the World Is the U.S. Military? Everywhere

As we enter the 17th year of the United States' "war on terror," it is both appropriate, and necessary, to take stock of where our troops are located and for what purpose. The deaths of U.S. soldiers this fall in Niger were a stark reminder that much of the American public, and even many of our country's lawmakers, aren't exactly sure what the war on terror looks like, much less where many of our other military operations are located. According to a new map published this week by the Costs of War Project at Brown University's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, the U.S. is waging this war on terror in 76 countries – or more simply put, 40 percent of the countries on this planet.

Yemen Is Today's Guernica

On the market day of April 26, 1937, at the bequest of General Francisco Franco, a bombing of the Basque town of Guernica took place. It was carried out by Spain’s nationalistic government allies, the Nazi German Luftwaffe’s Condor Legion and the Fascist Italian Aviazione Legionaria. The attack, under the code name Operation Rügen, in which hundreds of people died, became a rallying cry against the brutal killing of innocent civilians.

80 years later, however, an even more criminal action is carried out against Yemeni civilians by Saudi Arabia, with the complicity of the United States. 2018 has begun with the usual deadly Saudi strikes. Recent ones in the city of Hodeida have killed 23 people and Yemenis live in fear of new strikes that do not show respect for civilians, including children.

Is Trump Afghan Policy Aimed at Taliban or at China?

In recent months the US President has reversed yet another campaign pledge to pull out of Afghanistan, America’s longest war, and instead has begun to deploy an added 3,000 troops there. At the same time he has lashed out at the government of Pakistan accusing it of aiding the Afghan Taliban and pledging to cut all US military aid to that country as reprisal. A deeper view into the situation suggests that both moves are linked and have to do with not the Taliban and the Afghan terrorists. It has very much to do with ongoing developments of peaceful construction of the Chinese-led Belt, Road Initiative and desperate attempts of Washington to try to stop those developments using other pretexts.

Google Earth Spots Mysterious "Hypersonic Aircraft" In Florida

As the world seemingly marches closer to global conflict, hypersonic aircraft and missiles are being developed and tested by the United States, Russia and China at an accelerating pace. Other, less belligerent nations are developing hypersonic technologies to a lesser degree. According to Rand Corporation, “France and India are the most committed, and both draw to some extent on cooperation with Russia.” Nevertheless, “Australia, Japan, and European entities” have hypersonic programs in early stages.

In any case, the race for hypersonic technologies is in full swing among global superpowers, who realize that the first to possess these technologies will revolutionize their civilian aerospace and military programs. However, as of January 2018, hypersonic technologies are still in development and or the testing phase, so it remains anyone’s game at this point.

Sessions announces Hezbollah financing, narcoterror team after bombshell report

The Department of Justice announced Thursday that it is creating a task force to take a fresh look at drug-trafficking and money-laundering operations linked to Hezbollah after an investigative report last month claimed that the Obama administration turned a blind eye to such activities to preserve the Iran nuclear deal.

The task force, dubbed the Hezbollah Financing and Narcoterrorism Team (HFNT), will begin its work by reviewing investigations stemming from Project Cassandra, a campaign led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) targeting the Lebanese terror group’s actions.

Military Intelligence Has Weaponized Democracy Worldwide

It doesn’t matter whether it’s the US’ brand of “democracy” for export or the national-specific model of government that strengthens non-Western states, the theoretical concept behind this system has been weaponized by military intelligence agencies worldwide in a back-and-forth competition to change or retain the “deep state” status quo.

Most people are familiar with US’ clandestine and militant export of “democracy” across the globe in order to remove uncompliant leaders and promote its enduring geostrategic interest to retain its own unipolar hegemony, but comparatively fewer have ever thought about how this very same system is actually a method of control no matter what iteration it ultimately takes. This isn’t a judgement but a fact – democracy is really a tool that’s expertly wielded by its “deep state” practitioners in order to retain the status quo in their states.

The Pentagon has prepared a nuclear posture review (NPR) that gives the OK to development of smaller “useable” nuclear weapons and permits their use in response to a non-nuclear attack.

Army Finds $830 Million In "Missing" Helicopters As First Ever Audit Begins

Transparency, accountability and business process reform are some of the benefits of a financial statement audit.”

And in a preview of what is to come, Norquist told the House Armed Services Committee that an initial Army audit found 39 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter ($830,700,000) were not adequately recorded in the property system. "The Air Force identified 478 structures and buildings at 12 installations that were not in its real property system,” he added. In other words these helicopters were simply "missing" on the books.

Classical Liberalism Strikes Out

Is the Trump presidency an example of liberalism’s decay, or a last gasp to save the system?

We can see how the attraction for a strong, blustering, iconoclastic leader would arise in this context. The appeal of Trump arose from the pervasive sense of helplessness by a broad swath of Americans, especially those who have suffered most from the dissolution of families, churches, communities, and a range of constitutive bonds. On the one hand, I see the effort to exert some control over our destiny – by demanding an economy that works for average citizens, by insisting that a national culture amount to more than borderless non-judgmentalism, and rejecting the “political correctness” accompanying a sexual revolution whose wreckage is accumulating exponentially – as a “last gasp,” as you put it, and even an admirable one.

Wintry Conditions Freeze US Navy Ship at Canadian Port

The US Navy’s newest littoral combat ship, unveiled by shipyard workers in a snow-covered ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 16, was supposed to have completed its journey to Florida by now, but is instead stuck at a port in Canada.

The ship's departure from Buffalo, New York, was postponed from December 16 to December 20. The ship then made a routine port call in Montreal, Canada, where it remains docked, Buffalo News reported.

Trump’s new nuke ‘posture’: Draft allows nuclear response to conventional attack and new warheads

The Trump administration is expected to reveal a new, hawkish nuclear doctrine, which reportedly incorporates more cases in which it would use nuclear weapons, and also mandates the development of smaller-yield, simpler warheads.

The new Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) is expected to be revealed sometime after President Donald Trump’s state-of-the-union address in late January and will be the first update of the key strategy document in eight years.

According to Jon Wolfsthal, a former special assistant to Barack Obama on arms control and non-proliferation, the final draft that he reviewed is pretty hawkish, but some of the more aggressive suggestions from the initial variant have been dropped. Wolfsthal described the document to The Guardian.

A recent op-ed in the Times by Bret Stephens is a perfect example of warmongering mischief wrapped in faux expert testimony to make it palatable. Stephens is the resident neocon at the Times. Trump to call on Pentagon, diplomats to play bigger arms sales role - sources

The Trump administration is nearing completion of a new “Buy American” plan that calls for U.S. military attaches and diplomats to help drum up billions of dollars more in business overseas for the U.S. weapons industry, going beyond the limited assistance they currently provide, officials said.

Are toxic chemicals at Air Force bases leading to cancer, low birth weight?

For 25 years, Dan Cruz delivered mail at the Peterson Air Force Base and drank the water. Then came cancer – thyroid, prostate, testicular – he said never before seen in his family.

"I'm the only one that's been diagnosed with cancer not once, not twice, but three times. People on my route… cancer has come upon them and sometimes stage 4," Cruz told CBS News correspondent Barry Petersen.

The cause could be firefighting foam used since the 1970s at Air Force bases and airports across the country, something meant to save lives that may have harmed them instead. The foam contains highly fluorinated chemicals, known as PFCs. It is suspected of causing some cancers and underweight births.

US Army Major Exposes American Warfare's Giant Open Secret

It’s a remarkably old story actually. Ever since V-J Day in August 1945, Congress has repeatedly ducked its explicit constitutional duties when it comes to war, handing over the keys to the eternal use of the military to an increasingly imperial presidency. An often deadlocked, ever less popular Congress has cowered in the shadows for decades as Americans died in undeclared wars. Judging by the lack of public outrage, perhaps this is how the citizenry, too, prefers it. After all, they themselves are unlikely to serve. There’s no draft or need to sacrifice anything in or for America’s wars. The public’s only task is to stand for increasingly militarized pregame sports rituals and to “thank” any soldier they run into.

Not a lot of people remember this, but George W Bush actually campaigned in 2000 against the interventionist foreign policy that the United States had been increasingly espousing.
