Obama also vowed to "keep the pressure on Al-Qaeda" which used a safe-haven in Afghanistan to plot the September 11 attacks in 2001, which triggered the US war and grueling war on terror.
He cautioned that strikes against America were "being plotted as I speak," and said he would go after Osama bin Laden's terror group in Somalia or Yemen or further afield if necessary.
1. As reported on 11 November 2009 in:
"Although the war in Afghanistan began as a response to al-Qaeda terrorism, there are perhaps fewer than 100 members of the group left in the country, according to a senior U.S. military intelligence official in Kabul who spoke on the condition of anonymity."
2. Osama bin Laden has assumed "room temperature" quite some time ago.
3. Somalia has oil.
4. The tinpot dictator, Ali Abdullah Selah, is the guy the US is supporting, with money and guns, in Yemen.
His government is so crooked they collectively have to screw their socks on in the morning, and most of the people in this country are poor and illiterate. We may well see US troops on the ground here as well, to suppress the Houthi rebel insurgency in the north of the country.
With so many fronts and people allegedly plotting against the US, one has to wonder when Obama will call for a reinstitution of the draft; there are only so many volunteer soldiers and hired mercenaries left!
