Germany confirms departure of spy agency chief

The German government confirmed on Wednesday that Gerhard Schindler, the head of the BND foreign intelligence agency, would leave his post two years early but provided no reason for the surprise change.

In a short statement, Chancellor Angela Merkel's chief of staff Peter Altmaier said Schindler, who has run the BND since 2012 and is not due to retire until 2018, would be replaced on July 1 by Bruno Kahl, an official in the finance ministry responsible for privatizations and government real estate.

"The BND faces major challenges over the coming years, encompassing all aspects of its work," Altmaier said.

Suppressed Memo: Eli Lilly Hid Increase in Suicidal Thoughts and Aggression with Prozac for Years

It would seem that every time there is a mass shooting in this country, the shooter has either been taking psychotropic medications, usually in the form of antidepressants, or the shooter has recently quit taking antidepressants.

It is well known that these medications can cause suicidal thoughts, especially in young people up to around age 24. If a medicine can cause suicidal thoughts, it would only follow that it can possibly cause violent or homicidal thoughts as well. . .

. . . Eli Lilly, the pharmaceutical giant that brought us Prozac, knew this from its own trials as far back as 1984, but the company kept it from the public and the FDA for years, long after the drug was approved in 1988. This information only came to light through a highly controversial litigation.

In Cuba, the ballet is something of a national treasure. The dancers recruited into Alicia Alonso’s storied company Ballet Nacional de Cuba, for example, reportedly make more money than doctors and enjoy a level of fandom reserved only for pop stars in the United States. The Cuban government not only funds ballet training but also subsidizes tickets to ballet performances. Lovers of Cuban dance like to say the adoration and skill is in their DNA.

“You can find anyone in the street here in Havana who can dance as well as most professionals,” Cuba’s Ballet Rakatan choreographer Nilda Guerra told The Guardian.

Fifty-five Years Ago: Attempt to Overthrow France’s Charles De Gaulle. Was the CIA Involved?

In the post-World War II era, one week stands out as truly extraordinary. Just a couple of days after the failed US-backed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, on April 21, 1961, a group of French generals launched a coup-d’etat, with the aim of taking down President Charles de Gaulle. This week marks the 55th anniversary of this profound event, little-remembered today.

The conspirators managed to control Algiers, the capital of French Algeria, but failed to achieve their secondary objective of taking Paris. Lacking popular support and having lost momentum, the coup was put down within days.

Evidence suggests that Allen Dulles, the US Director of the CIA, and his numerous contacts deep within the French government, helped orchestrate the plot.

How Wartime Washington Lives in Luxury

In no place in America are the abrupt changes in the nation’s security posture so keenly reflected in real estate and lifestyle than the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In the decade after 9/11, it has grown into a sprawling, pretentious representation of the federal government’s growth, vices and prosperity, encompassing the wealthiest counties, the best schools, and some of the highest rates of income inequality in the country.

“People hate Washington but they don’t really know why,” says Mike Lofgren, a longtime Beltway inhabitant and arch critic of its culture. But show them what is underneath the dignified facades—particularly the greed and excess financed by the overgrown military-industrial complex—and the populist resentment recently harnessed by insurgent candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders just might have a concrete grievance that can drive real change.

U.S. high school seniors slip in math and show no improvement in reading

The nation’s high school seniors have shown no improvement in reading achievement and their math performance has slipped since 2013, according to the results of a test administered by the federal government last year.

The results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress, or NAEP, also show a longer-term stagnation in 12th-grade performance in U.S. public and private schools: Scores on the 2015 reading test have dropped five points since 1992, the earliest year with comparable scores, and are unchanged in math during the past decade.

That is why officials in the city of Augsburg became concerned when they noticed a new phenomenon: Pedestrians were so busy looking at their smartphones that they were ignoring traffic lights.

The city has attempted to solve that problem by installing new traffic lights embedded in the pavement — so that pedestrians constantly looking down at their phones won't miss them.

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden's revelations on government mass surveillance have apparently scared a significant number of people away from searching for terrorism-related information on Wikipedia, as a new study shows readers are afraid of being investigated.

The conclusions come as the online encyclopedia giant showed a 30-percent drop in searches on terrorism-related topics – the most direct evidence yet of something called the "chilling effect," described by University of Oxford and Toronto’s Jonathon Penney as the measure of the negative impact on legal conduct that arises out of the leaks by the former NSA contractor who exposed the PRISM program.

The ransomware encrypts files both on the victim's PC and on attached storage. Kaspersky notes there's a short delay applied to the external storage encryption “to confuse victims and make it harder to detect which websites spread the malware”.

Victims are told – via a Web page, an image dropped in as the user's desktop, and in a text file in case everything else fails – to download the Tor browser and navigate to an Onion site to get recovery instructions.

Although CryptXXX uses RSA4096, Snow writes it wasn' that hard to crack, and it's added decryption to its RannohDecryptor tool here.

One More Casualty Of The 9/11 Farce – The Petrodollar

By Brandon Smith

It’s been about 15 years now since passenger airliners struck the World Trade Center towers on 9/11, and we are still suffering the consequences of that day, though perhaps not in the ways many Americans might believe.

The 9/11 attacks were billed by the Bush Administration as a “wake-up call” for the U.S., and neocons called it the new Pearl Harbor. But instead of it being an awakening, the American public was led further into blind ignorance. The event launched wars throughout the Middle East, energized by a strike-first doctrine which was supposed to bring unprecedented “democracy” to the region. Instead, the Middle East has now become as unstable as it was during WWII...

Was Rafael Cruz Really Pictured With Lee Harvey Oswald?

The National Enquirer is once again attacking GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, but this time, the claims have nothing to do with secret mistresses. Instead, the tabloid believes they have uncovered photographic proof that Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, spent time with the John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald promoting the Fidel Castro regime.

Carole Lieberman, a University of California forensic psychologist, claims that “they seem to match.” While Mitch Goldstone, president and CEO of ScanMyPhotos, goes a little further to say he has a “high degree of confidence” that both photos (one known to be Rafael Cruz and the other of the mystery man with Oswald) are of the same person.

WTF Happened?

Well, as you know I am pretty convinced that the big players, which include central banks, the big banks and several of the larger market players (Citadel, et al.), are conspiring to move these markets around on a pretty continuous basis.

They do it precisely because of Dave’;s reaction; “Look, all fixed!’

That’s the main point of manipulating markets. Creating the appearance of health is exactly the point.

Today’s “”market”” headlines are likely to report the Dow an S&P closing nicely in the green. What they won’t report is that “someone” banged the close to create slightly better headlines than would have otherwise been written if they had not done this.

On the 30th Anniversary of Chernobyl, Here’s What We Are Still Not Being Told

By Claire Bernish

On the 30th anniversary of the world’s worst nuclear catastrophe yet, a new report shows radioactive contamination from the 1986 explosion at Chernobyl in Ukraine still lingers in startlingly large amounts across the border in neighboring Belarus.

In an exclusive report by the Associated Press, fresh milk from a Belarusian dairy farm contained a radioactive isotope, traceable to the Chernobyl disaster, at “levels 10 times higher than the nation’s food safety limits” — thirty years after the accident occurred.

Though the AP turned to a laboratory to test the milk, dairy farmer Nikolai Chubenok called the results “impossible.”...

Along with the documentation in the above video, let’s consider Earth’s ongoing tragic-comedy history in Emperor’s New Clothes obvious crimes:

Unlawful and lie-began wars.
Crimes Against Humanity for ongoing policy of poverty that’s killed over 400 million human beings just since 1995 (~75% children; more deaths than from all wars in Earth’s recorded history).
So-called “money” that is actually debt that creates accelerating and unpayable total debt.
Destruction of nearly all rights lawfully guaranteed in the US Bill of Rights within the US Constitution, and in Orwellian inversion of limited government.
“Covering the crimes” with lies by corporate media.

Israel to Confiscate 1,250 Acres of Palestinian Land in Favor of Illegal Jewish West Bank Settlements

The Israeli authorities on Saturday delivered notices to the Palestinian village of Jalud in the northern occupied West Bank, alerting residents that 5,000 dunams (1,250 acres) of private land were slated for confiscation in what appeared to be the retroactive legalization of illegal outposts in the area.

Officials from Jalud’s local council told Ma’an that the military identified areas of the Palestinian village expected to lose land to the confiscation as Khallat al-Wusta, Shieb Khallat al-Wusta, and Abu al-Kasbar.

However, the illegal outposts of Adei Ad, Esh Kodesh, Ahiya, and Kidah have already been established in the areas, marking the confiscation as Israel’s most recent retroactive legalization of unauthorized settlement construction.

Obama Reveals Plans To Build A "Missile Defense Shield" Around North Korea

While it has amounted to nothing more than mere populist posturing and jawboning, with the occasional entertaining (fabricated) clip of a submarine missile launch thrown in for good measure, North Korea's launches of ballistic missiles have succeeded in provoking anger among the international community, which has so far been unable (or unwilling) to provide an adequate response to Kim Jong Il's periodic "shows of strength", mostly for domestic consumption.

However, Obama now appears ready to respond. In an interview with CBS' Charlie Rose, Obama described the regime as "a massive challenge."

"Our first priority is to protect the American people and our allies, the Republic of Korea, Japan, that are vulnerable to the provocative actions that North Korea is engaging in," Mr. Obama said.

Chris Evans 'out of control' since taking on Top Gear job - report

The Sun reports that Evans, 50, has upset staff at BBC Radio 2 and that his radio backroom team are becoming increasingly concerned about his outbursts and behaviour.

A report on The Sun's website says that, according to a BBC insider, Evans was recently seen to “shout so viciously that the producer was reduced to tears and an engineer had to tell him to stop”.

The same source contains a quote from another BBC employee: “Chris’s ego is out of control and he’s behaving far worse than Clarkson ever did — which is the opposite of what the Top Gear change was meant to create.

“The Radio 2 show is the country’s most popular. But Chris is turning up exhausted and miserable and his staff have noticed a huge difference. Top Gear’s a full-time job, but Radio 2 involves waking at dawn every day. It’s probably no surprise he seems close to breaking point.”

U.S. military used 'roof knock' tactic in Iraq to try to warn civilians before bombing

The United States borrowed an Israeli military tactic known as "roof knocking" to try to warn civilians before it dropped a bomb targeting Islamic State fighters in Iraq this month, but a woman was killed in the attack, a U.S. military official said on Tuesday.

The controversial tactic consists of firing a warning missile above or near an intended target, to give residents time to flee before the real strike.

The Israeli military used such "roof knocks" in the 2014 Gaza war, but a United Nations commission found in 2015 that the tactic was not effective, because it often caused confusion and did not give residents enough time to escape.

Security Stops Middle Schoolers from Singing the National Anthem at 9/11 Memorial

This is the epitome of modern Orwellian America.

They were stopped — from singing the national anthem at the 9/11 memorial — halfway through by 9/11 memorial security because, well, it seems they didn’t have the proper permit.
