snip: Under U.S. leadership and Israeli influence, French political leaders have championed “regime change” in Libya and Syria on the tacit assumption that civil war would be better for the people of those countries than living under a “dictatorship”. In practice, however, most people can get along better without a vote than without a roof over their heads. Or without their heads.[...]

Dogs of Western resentment bark as Chinese WWII parade passes

The importance for China of this coming Thursday’s parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII in the Asia-Pacific cannot be overstated enough.

The parade rolling past Tiananmen Square officially celebrates the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This is an extremely serious – and sensitive – business for 1.4 billion Chinese and the Chinese diaspora all across the world.

And once again, the West – displaying trademark cultural/historical insensitivity – has blown it. Beijing is carefully scrutinizing the diplomatic ramifications of shows and no-shows. Symbolically, absences speak volumes.

President Vladimir Putin will be in Beijing, as well as leaders of the four Central Asian ‘stans’ that are part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Sanctioned Terrorism

…we must fight sanctioned terrorism today.

What is left unmentioned and unrecognized in our collective psyche is the kind of terrorism that has been deliberately obfuscated: sanctioned terrorism or terrorism with a license – sanctions.

Shamelessly, even after sanctioned terrorism took the life of one million Iraqis, the UNSC licensed terrorism against Iran – sanctions, without any remorse for the lost lives of 1 million Iraqi victims of sanctioned terrorism and untold numbers or other victims across the globe.

The overall failure to identify and deliberately obfuscate this act of terrorism has enabled this premeditated act of terrorism to continue with impunity. The success of this deception is owed to controlling the narrative with complicity from the media. This has been so effective that even the victims of sanctioned terrorism fail to grasp that they are being subjected to terrorism.

Terrorism is foundation of Israeli regime: Rouhani

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says the Israeli regime has been founded and continues to survive on terrorism.

President Rouhani made the remark at an international conference commemorating the Iranian victims of terrorism in the capital, Tehran, on Monday.

“This regime (Tel Aviv) began its work on the basis of intimidation, terror and occupation, and is continuing [to move on] the same anti-human path today,” Rouhani said.

In his keynote speech, the president also referred to Takfiri groups, including Daesh, Taliban and Boko Haram, as other sources of terrorism in the region.

Blowback on a NATO beach – Pepe Escobar

We’ve had it coming from the beginning.

And when it came, virtually the whole planet reacted with stunned silence. Sometimes it takes just a photograph to put a noxiously complex version of hell in perspective.

We’ve had it coming when the “we’re the new OPEC” Bush administration invaded, occupied and destroyed Iraq – creating the set-up for the establishment of Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

We’ve had it coming when the Petraeus surge bribed Sunnis to half-heartedly fight Al-Qaeda in Iraq – which then took its time to reorganize in the heart of the desert, change its name to Islamic State and plot a comeback.

We’ve had it coming when NATO, enthusiastically “led” by London and Paris, and allied with hardcore Salafi-jihadis, set out to duly “liberate” Libya into a failed state run by militias.

82 new US-trained Syrians prepare for fighting

Coalition is rotten at its core! Time to change the players and game itself to create a shot at success.

A US military source has revealed in private conversation that the US-led Coalition formed to target the Islamic State (IS) and other terrorist groups is currently training 82 new recruits for its Syria operations. These include 12 new fighters in Jordan and 70 in Turkey.

A spokeswoman for the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM), Major Genieve David, would not confirm these numbers. “We are not giving out numbers due to operational security concerns,” she said via phone.

But Turkey’s Foreign Minister Minister Mevlut Çavu?o?lu’s comment a few days ago that “in the second group we have around 100 (fighters)” suggests that the source’s numbers are likely to be accurate.

It is uncertain, anyway, if all 82 trainees will graduate from the Coalition training program.”

Russia and Syria: The Die Is Cast

Hope the Russians will bring peace to Syria and the refugees will return home.

Despite doubts and denials, Russia is about to embark on an ambitious expansion of its Syrian presence, likely to change the game in the war-torn country. Russia’s small and dated naval repair facility in Tartous will be enlarged, while Jableh near Latakia (Laodicea of old) will become the Russian Air Force base and a full-blown Russian Navy base in the Eastern Mediterranean, beyond the narrow Bosphorus straits. The jihadi multitudes besetting Damascus are likely to be beaten into obedience and compliance, and the government of President Assad relieved from danger and siege. The war with Da’esh (ISIS) is to provide the cover for this operation. This is the first report of this fateful development, based on confidential and usually reliable Russian sources in Moscow

Obama Defeats Netanyahu In Iran Accord Battle

Benjamin Netanyahu’s AIPAC-controlled U.S. minions lost their battle to destroy President Obama’s nuclear accord with Iran and the P1-5 world powers.

A final, crucial vote was announced when Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md) became the 34th Democratic Senator to support the carefully constructed firewall needed to sustain a Barack Obama veto.

One day later, Senator Cory A. Booker (D-NJ) padded Obama’s veto-proof party vote with his support of the accord. With Mikulski and Booker on board, Obama now has 35 Senators who will vote to defeat a Republican-backed resolution of disapproval.

Rainbow Warrior bomber finally unmasked

The French spy who planted the bombs that sank the Rainbow Warrior has been unmasked.

More than 30 years on from the terrorist outrage in the Waitemata Harbour, Jean Cammas has confessed to planting both bombs on the hull of the ship.

The former secret service agent was tracked down by journalists from TVNZ's Sunday programme and he told them the mission was "a big, big failure".

The bombing, which killed photographer Fernando Pereira, rocked New Zealand and shocked the world. It was state-sponsored terrorism and those who carried it out were never properly held to account.

Alain Mafart and Dominique Prieur, who acted as a support team, were the only two caught of a dozen agents. They were sentenced to 10 years' jail but were both back in France within three years.

Marine Le Pen collects the national front for Russia and against Europe

It is the embodiment of one of the slogans of marine Le Pen — "France of forgotten". She appeals to the peasants and inhabitants of small towns, where the ideas of the FN more and more popular. It is known that the farther from the cities, the stronger the national front.
Speaking at a rally in a small village Brachet, region champagne-Ardenne, in which there are only six dozen residents and which on this occasion brought together hundreds of supporters, and marine Le Pen called ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy "zombie", returned from the dead, and current President Francois Hollande — "lazy weakling."
In her speech, MS Le Pen has again called for the release of a United Europe, taking advantage of this time with new arguments. It is curious that the first argument became loss suffered by France as a result of anti-Russian sanctions, which is connected to the socialist government. "The real President immediately cancelled the sanctions against Russia," said Marine Le Pen.

Joint British-French Border Force to be Deployed to Calais to Confront Migrant Crisis

British police, including UK Border Force officers, will be deployed to France after Home Secretary Theresa May signed a belated agreement with the French government on the Calais migrant crisis.

The agreement will establish a joint control and command centre, headed up by senior British and French officers, and signals a step up in British involvement in Calais. The unusual feature of the Euro Tunnel project, which effectively pushed the British border forward onto the continent for the first time since the 13th century, has caused friction between the two countries as it has left the French government patrolling the border almost unassisted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There would not be a migrant crisis is the western nations hadn't been mucking about in the Middle East and Africa!

"This Country Is Destroyed": 26 countries, 35 days in Europe During the Economic Collapse of 2015

Many discerning people are expecting an economic collapse at any moment, yet it's still possible to travel without spending a lot of money. My wife and I took off July 10th & went to Europe for 35 days. We hit 26 countries, at a pretty fast pace. I'm a notorious cheapskate, & the main point I would like people to know is that travelling to Europe is not as nearly expensive as most people are led to believe. We bought the EuroRail pass & travelled throughout Europe by train. From Copenhagen to Istanbul, Norway to Bosnia, this was quite a trip. We met all sorts of interesting people including several in Athens, Greece, who told me "this country is destroyed."

What the Latest Currency ‘War’ is All About

When the US embarks on perennial quantitative easing, that’s OK. When the EU does QE as well, that’s OK. But when the Bank of China decides it’s in the best interest of the nation to let the yuan go down a bit instead of infinitely up, that’s Armageddon.

An internationalized yuan established as a global reserve currency implies a "market-determined" exchange rate policy.

It took the Bank of China to devaluate the yuan on two consecutive days — moving within the 2 percent band that it’s allowed to — for the proverbial global financial banshees to go completely bonkers.

Forget the hysteria. The heart of the matter is that Beijing has stepped on the gas in a quite complex long game; to liberalize the yuan exchange rate; allow it to free float against the US dollar; and establish the yuan as a global reserve currency.

The Social Costs of Capitalism

The public subsidies provided to miners, loggers, and ranchers are as extravagant and as harmful to the public interest as the subsidies that the Federal Reserve and Treasury provide to the "banks too big to fail."

Few, if any, corporations absorb the full cost of their operations. Corporations shove many of their costs onto the environment, the public sector, and distant third parties.

Economists call these costs “external costs” or “social costs.” The mine made its profits by creating pollutants, the cost of which is borne by those who had no share in the profits.

‘Deal or war’: Is doomed dollar really behind Obama’s Iran warning?

This is not just about Iran. It is about other major world economies moving away from holding the US dollar as a means of doing business.

In his drastic prediction of war, one might assume that Obama is referring to Israel launching a preemptive military strike on Iran with the backing of US Republicans. Or that he is insinuating that Iran will walk from self-imposed restraints on its nuclear program to build a bomb, thus triggering a war.

But what could really be behind Obama’s dire warning of “deal or war” is another scenario – the collapse of the US dollar, and with that the implosion of the US economy.

That scenario was hinted at this week by US Secretary of State John Kerry. Speaking in New York on August 11, Kerry made the candid admission that failure to seal the nuclear deal could result in the US dollar losing its status as the top international reserve currency.

The Centerpiece of US Foreign Policy Struggle

The basic question for all Americans is whether we will act as an independent, sovereign country pursuing peace through diplomacy, as we currently see unfolding with Iran and Cuba, or a submissive military instrument, directed by Israel’s proxies hell-bent on destroying America for Israel.

While many US intellectuals, liberals, progressives and leftists support the US-Iran agreement (see the Scientists’ Letter to Obama on Iran Nuclear Deal, Aug. 8, 2015 with 29 top scholars and Nobel laureates support diplomacy), few would dare to identify and attack Israel’s US proxies as they promote Tel Aviv’s agenda pushing the US to war with Iran. A brief glance through the sectarian left press, for example, The Socialist Register, New Politics, New Left Review, finds no discussion of the powerful, well-financed, highly organized, elite-driven Israeli proxies and their role in determining US wars in the Middle East, and more specifically the war agenda toward Iran.

Media reported about the doubling of payments of Paris at the broken-off deal on the "Mistral"

INTERFAX.RU — "Mistral" will cost France two times more expensive than originally anticipated in Paris, wrote on Wednesday the French newspaper Le Canard enchaine.
Paris will be required to reimburse 896 million euros, which Moscow has translated into the construction of ships. In addition, about 100 million euros — the compensation for the costs associated with the trip of 400 Russian sailors and optional equipment installed on one of the helicopter.
In addition, the French side will have to pay damages to their contractors. Thus, the company DCNS, which was engaged in the construction of ships, should receive 350 million euros. Another 500 million Euro will be awarded Thales Safran et, which was engaged in the equipment of ships. For sale helicopter to another country, France will have to adapt them according to the standards of NATO, which will cost another 200 million euros, the newspaper said. This, according to the expert, quoted by the publication, can take up to six months.

"France has been treated like a doormat!" Why De Gaulle defied the US overlord

About the landing of June 6, 1944, here is what de Gaulle declares to Alain Peyrefitte* in 1964: "France has been treated like a doormat! Churchill called me from Algiers to London on June 4, called me into a train where he had established his headquarters, like a squire summoning his butler. And he announced the landing, with no French units scheduled to participate. We clashed sharply. I reproached him for submitting to orders from Roosevelt, instead of imposing the European will on him. "

Hollande Shot Himself in the Foot by Canceling the Mistral Deal

The events surrounding the contract between France and Russia on the construction of two Mistral ships for more than a year have been the focus of different countries. Particular interest to this deal was paid by Washington, where policymakers were convinced that their “training leash” will not allow the sitting authorities in the Elysee Palace to follow the path of the self-determined Charles de Gaulle.

Even more attention to this deal was paid by the states that have already made their first steps toward the development of economic and military cooperation with Paris, or are considering such options. Those were the state sof the Arab world, Africa and Asia. After all, the credibility of a business partner plays a pivotal role in any trade deal, and when this partner is deprived of its own opinion, while being fully dependent on its masters overseas, it provide little assurance.

The signatories are calling “all the peoples of the world, to realize that the struggle of the Greek people is also their struggle”.

Friends of Greece,

The following text summarizes MikisTheodorakis’ appeal to stop the Syriza Government from selling out the Greek people’s country and stop the currently – almost in secret – ongoing negotiations with the troika on the modalities of the € 86 billion loan and the details of the new austerity measures – “negotiations” to be concluded by about 20 August 2015.

Trump trumps them all in Republican debates — Pepe Escobar

"Our country is in serious trouble. We don’t win anymore..." Donald Trump

Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz has said that the US, on the financial front, is “on the wrong side of history.” As for the Republican candidates chasing the nomination for the 2016 US presidential race, well, they may qualify only for the ‘wrong’ side of the bargain, as they hardly know what ‘history’ means.
And that brings us to a mammoth specimen of entertainment/reality TV; the first Republican debate, no less than a seemingly-eternal 15 months before the actual US presidential election.

It definitely started with a – what else? – celebrity TV bang. Would anybody raise their hands if they were mulling running as a third-party candidate, and ignore the eventual Republican nominee?

In the whole modern history of Europe, there was not such a shameful surrender, or even treason. ‘Alexis Tsipras’ is a Greek translation of ‘Vidkun Quisling’ or of ‘Maréchal Pétain’. The man received the full support of his people, and chickened out. (The first step of Syriza after the fiasco was to enter into military cooperation with Israel.) Now only the far-right Golden Dawn speaks loudly against surrender to the bankers, but this is a party in opposition, and it risks nothing by speaking out.

The Liberation of US Foreign Policy

Once we defeat the Israeli-directed attempt to derail the Iran deal in Congress we can safely go out into the streets declaiming: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we’re free at last!

The Iran deal is a turning point in US foreign policy, and its approval by Congress will represent a sea change in American politics: it will mark nothing less than a day of liberation which future generations might dub “VI Day” – victory over Israel day.

The signing of the Iran deal, and its probable approval by Congress – it doesn’t look like the War Party has the votes to overturn it – heralds the victory of the countercoup, i.e. the overthrow of the Lobby’s stranglehold and the eventual restoration of a pro-American foreign policy. This was evident in practically every line of President Obama’s recent speech at American University, and the text deserves closer examination than it has so far gotten.

International Courts and the Mystery of the Malaysian Airliner

People are not equal in death, either. Some deaths are more newsworthy than others. The media and politicians love spectacular acts of terror, fires, disaster, the death of the wealthy and privileged, a death conducive to a cause. Such is the death of 300 passengers and crew of the Malaysian airliner flight 17 in the crash in Donbass, near Russian-Ukrainian border. Their deaths, regrettable as they were, are deemed to be of much greater importance, or at least newsworthiness than those of some ten thousand local people killed by the indiscriminate shelling of Donbass towns by Kiev regime troops, or that of a million Arabs. It is conducive to the cause of pushing Russia into a corner.

House Members In Israel for Obama-Bashing

Should Congress prevail in undermining “this strong, principled policy diplomacy”, we would have reached a shameful moment in U.S. foreign policy.

While President Barack Obama was speaking about the people’s business, and his Kennedy-like preference for diplomacy over war, freshman members of the U.S. House of Representatives were either 5,000 plus miles away in Israel, or preparing to go there to be feted and educated by a foreign power which opposes the nuclear agreement the U.S. has reached with Iran and major European powers.

Democratic freshman congress members who may or may not have heard the Obama speech, are traveling in Israel (all expenses paid) courtesy of an educational nonprofit “affiliated with” the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the American Israel Education Foundation, AIPAC’s charitable arm.

What “affiliated with” means is that AIPAC runs the trip while its “education foundation” pays the bills.

Calais under siege: Riot police battle 2,500 migrants desperate to invade Britain through Channel Tunnel

The article below from the British newspaper The Daily Mail includes amazing photographs that show just how far the immigration situation has deteriorated. Britain, a country that once was proud of the fact it hadn’t been invaded since the Norman Conquest of 1066, is now being invaded once again from Normandy, this time by Africans, armed with little more than the treacherous propaganda support of the Zionist rulers of Britain and the rest of the Western World.

Corbyn: the antidote to the Blairite ‘virus’ and Zionist snake-bite

Towards a more sensible foreign policy…

Many certainly can see Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister - a very different and totally new style of PM. He's astute and has a track record of honesty and openness, laced with a burning sense of justice.

Some polls are showing Jeremy Corbyn forging ahead in the Labour Party leadership race by as much as 20 points. The political Establishment is shaken and quite definitely stirred.

Power in the service of Power

Samantha Power has become something of an expert at Russia-bashing and using fiery rhetoric for her selective political aims at the UN Security Council.

The US, as with other NATO states, has set itself up as jury and judge on the MH17 tragedy, and has already decided on Russia’s guilt over the incident. From the outset, Western governments and media have insinuated that Russia or “Russian-backed rebels” in eastern Ukraine are the perpetrators. The case has already been poisoned with politicized prejudice, without any evidence. As Christopher Black, a respected international war crimes lawyer, has pointed out to this author, the tribunal proposed by the NATO countries would have been used as “a trap” to incriminate Russia and possibly even indict President Vladimir Putin for having ultimate responsibility.

The Imperial Designs on Iran

The Masters of the Universe seem to believe that the “pivot to Asia” won’t work if Iran is not part, as a vassal state, of the imperial design for Southwest Asia. Well, listen to Khamenei; that won’t happen.

So what is the Obama administration really up to in Iran? What sort of strategic calculations have led to what for the moment looks like a tactical geopolitical shift?

President Obama certainly concluded that the 36-year-long Wall of Mistrust against Iran was bound to fail. The real Masters of the Universe in Washington – those who control the deep state – always knew that the “nuclear weapons” hysteria was bogus. That was part of a strategic decision to keep the Islamic Republic isolated from the West as long as possible, and ultimately force regime change.

The Hunt for Red October

As a Social Democrat government came to power in September 2014, the Swedish Army, Navy and pro-NATO media plotted to prevent a possible rapprochement of Russia and Sweden.

These days, Sweden is all agog. In the midst of the coldest summer in living history that deprived the Swedes of their normal sun-accumulating July routine, the country plunged into an exciting search for a Russian submarine in the Stockholm archipelago, and (as opposed to the previous rounds of this venerable Swedish maritime saga) this time they actually found the beast.

Washington’s Fifth Columns Inside Russia and China

Russia and China finally caught on. It is amazing that the governments of the two countries that Washington regards as "threats" were so tolerant of foreign-financed NGOs for so long.

Americans need to understand that the biggest threat to them resides entirely in the crazed neoconservative ideology of Washington’s hegemony over the world and over the American people, Paul Craig Roberts believes.

It took two decades for Russia and China to understand that “pro-democracy” and “human rights” organizations operating within their countries were subversive organizations funded by the US Department of State and a collection of private American foundations organized by Washington. The real purpose of these non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is to advance Washington’s hegemony by destabilizing the two countries capable of resisting US hegemony.

Ending Calais migrants crisis is 'top priority'

France and Britain vowed on Sunday that ending a crisis which has seen thousands of attempts by migrants to reach England from Calais in recent weeks is a "top priority".

The joint statement came as a French opposition lawmaker accused British Prime Minister David Cameron of failing to grasp "the severity of the problem", and said migrants should not be stopped from going to England unless stronger measures were taken.

Erodogan and Netanyahu Declare War

The rulers of the two most powerful authoritarian regimes in the Middle East are launching major wars to reconfigure the Middle East.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared war by proxy on Iran, announcing full-scale military mobilization within Israel (July 27 -29) and organizing the biggest political campaign of ultra Zionist Jews in Washington. The purpose of this two-pronged propaganda blitz is to defeat the recently signed US-Iranian agreement and start another major Middle East war.

At the same time, Turkish Prime Minister Erodogan has launched a major war against the Kurdish people and their aspirations for a Kurdish state. T

Demand your teleSUR, RT, PressTV, and CCTV!

Whenever you stay in any hotel in Latin America, which does not “play” RT, PressTV, CCTV, TeleSUR, be a pest; demand! Nag, nag, and nag!

Mighty new television networks based in South America, Russia, China and Iran are locked in what could only be described as an epic battle against the omnipresent Western propaganda and indoctrination networks.Their programs can be seen all over the globe, and they have been dramatically changing the lives of millions in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, even in some hubs of the Empire itself, like New York and London.

Greece – And the Horror of Europe

Dear Reader, this is as far as we have fallen since the ascent of neoliberalism in the last twenty-some years. No ethics, no moral, no law, just coercion for greed and ultimate hegemony – enslavement of the people while and after they are lulled and dulled with lies 24/7.

According to UNHCR about 50 million refugees are on the move every day on our globe. This is most likely an understatement, as this figure doesn’t take into account what takes place in the almost hermetically closed-off Central Africa, Congo, Zaïre, where western corporations are exploiting for a pittance and with millions of slaves precious metals, uranium, hydrocarbons and rare earths – and where millions have died over the past ten years, by butcher regimes supported and armed by the west – and where millions are on the run.

The real figure of refugees on the run is easily 60 to 65 million;

Iran Political Fulmination Versus Diplomatic Deal

Viewers and readers should question polls, whether reported by CNN or Fox or MSNBC with the same vigor the old Chicago News Bureau once counseled, “If your mother says she loves you, check it out”.

Blessings upon New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof for pointing out that “fulmination” is the right word to describe opposition to the diplomatic deal President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have just reached with Iran and the P5+1 major world powers.

The P5+1 offers a strong array of international powers. The term P5+1 refers to the UN Security Council’s five permanent members (the P5); namely China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States; plus Germany.

The PPP poll finds that “there’s strong support nationally for the Iran deal, that voters want their members of Congress to let it move forward, and that there’s no potential political backlash for members who do support the deal”.

Incongruities in the News — Paul Craig Roberts

Jonathan Pollard, a paid spy for Israel described by Michael D. Shear as “one of the country’s most notorious spies,” has been pardoned from his life sentence.

Pollard is a hero to Israel, not to America, and it is Pollard who is released. Manning, Snowden, and Assange are heroes to America, and they continue to be confined.

What disturbs me about the case is that it is Pollard, who spied for a foreign country, who is released. In contrast, Manning and Snowden who spied for the American people are locked away, Manning in a federal prison and Snowden in his Russian exile. Julian Assange, who merely did his job as a journalist and made available to newspapers documents leaked to him, is confined to the Ecuadoran embassy in London.

BREAKING: French Investigators Check Plane Debris on Remote French Island for Clues in MH370 Hunt

Investigators are studying an airplane fragment discovered Wednesday on an island in the Indian Ocean, but they say it is too early to tell whether it might hold a clue to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 last year.

Boeing investigators have looked at photos of the fragment and say that they believe it is from a 777 aircraft, sources told NBC News Wednesday afternoon.

FLASHBACK - ‘Israel will attack Iran if you sign the deal, French MP told Fabius’

A French member of parliament telephoned French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in Geneva at the weekend to warn him that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would attack Iran’s nuclear facilities if the P5+1 nations did not stiffen their terms on a deal with Iran, Israel’s Channel 2 News reported Sunday.

“I know [Netanyahu],” the French MP, Meyer Habib, reportedly told Fabius, and predicted that the Israeli prime minister would resort to the use of force if the deal was approved in its form at the time. “If you don’t toughen your positions, Netanyahu will attack Iran,” the report quoted Habib as saying. “I know this. I know him. You have to toughen your positions in order to prevent war.”

France top court backs controversial surveillance law

France’s top court has lent its blessing to a broad surveillance bill that controversially increases the sphere of authority of the country’s intelligence services.

On Thursday, the French Constitutional Council ruled on the constitutionality of the bill that relaxes the restrictions on the interception of telephone conversations and enables the easier application of hidden microphones and cameras.

Empowered by the law, intelligence authorities can now glean telephone, text message, and Internet data from all devices in a given area.

Vive le Act Patriotique: Liberté, égalité, fraternité, pick any two. No, not those

France’s constitutional court (Conseil Constitutionnel) has ruled that the new French version of the Patriot Act is legal.

The Projet de Loi Relatif au Renseignement was passed by the upper chamber of parliament earlier this month, but has attracted outspoken criticism from civil liberties organisations, who described it as “an assault on human rights”.

The fast-tracked law will give French intelligence services lots of new snooping superpowers with little or no judicial oversight.

Peter Beinart’s Fantasy – Raimondo

Does Beinart really believe the media complex that gives the War Party a guaranteed platform suffers from amnesia? I hardly think so.

Peter Beinart asks some pretty good questions: he wants to know why the same crowd that lied us into war in Iraq isn’t completely discredited when it comes to their opposition to the recently concluded deal with Iran. No, he doesn’t put it quite that way, in part because, by his own admission, he was one of the most enthusiastic cheerleaders for what he now describes as “one of the most important, and damaging, episodes in the history of U.S. foreign policy.” He frames his question this way:

“I have a fantasy. It’s that every politician and pundit who goes on TV to discuss the Iran deal is asked this question first: ‘Did you support the Iraq War, and how has that experience informed your position?’”

Beinart is right to regard this as a fantasy, because it will never happen. Yet he fails to ask why that is.

The War on Conspiracy Realists Continues

British government under Cameron's watch has been an active and willing partner in the Machiavellian strategy of divide and rule in the Middle East spearheaded by the US and Israel.

Obama picked up where Bush left off, flooding Syrian and Libyan insurgent groups with untold largesse and arms, using the corrupted Arab Gulf kingdoms as conduits for weapons transfers for the sake of plausible deniability.

ISIS themselves have mostly eschewed hostility towards Israel, posting an official statement on social media in July 2014 saying that they’re more interested in fighting “Muslim infidels” than the Zionist state.[6]

Israeli officials have expressed similar sentiments, with Israel’s former envoy to the US,Michael Oren, stating in a September 2013 interview that Tel Aviv “prefers” ISIS and al-Qaeda over the “bad guys backed by Iran,” namely Syria’s Assad and Hezbollah.

Thirteen Senators Who Could Make History

Thirteen U.S. Senators is all President Obama needs to ensure that the nuclear deal with Iran does not get derailed by Congress

Voters in their states still have time to communicate to Senate offices locally or in Washington.

Do the math:

There are currently 54 Republican senators, all of whom are expected to oppose the deal. The Republicans will need only 13 Democrats to cross party lines and vote against the deal to reach the 67 votes required for an override.

The Fine or the Crude Art of Window Dressing – Hypocrisy at its Best

It is simply tit for tat and it is part of the window dressing routine that both sides have to engage in for a long while.

In the meantime, again we are being told by the Administration officials and the mass media that Iran continues to be the world’s biggest supporter of terrorism and is busy destabilizing the region by backing the Assad regime in Syria, the Shi’a militia in Iraq, and the Houthis in Yemen.

An exchange between US Ambassador to the UN and her Iranian counterpart is another example of the post-nuclear-agreement Cold War between the United States and the Islamic Republic:

The Iranian administration, reading and hearing the foregoing rhetoric on a daily basis, is certainly not going to take all the allegations and insults without reacting in kind. Both sides must remain actively engaged in window dressing and face saving charade for some time.

One Way to Handle the Crisis in US-Russia Relations

What we are witnessing is the rise of a new wave of the most dangerous arms race with totally unpredictable consequences.

At the moment it is unrealistic to expect a speedy improvement in US – Russia relations. This is to be regretted, but it is a fact: these relations have reached perhaps the lowest point and are even worse than during Soviet times – a really disturbing development.

The general public is aware that both nations are facing off on the political, economic, and informational fronts. However, they also confront each other in yet another area which is only followed by a narrow circle of experts, though it bears directly on the most important security issues facing the whole planet.

The reference is, of course, to major arms control treaties. These took many years and tremendous efforts to negotiate, and yet they now dissolve one after another.

UNSC resolution endorses Iran’s nuclear program: Analysts

Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich : The United States has not changed its attitude towards Iran. Tactics change but goals don’t. Iran has negotiated in good faith but must expect mischief from the U.S.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the Iran nuclear deal and paving the way to lifting longstanding sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

– UNSC unanimously votes in favor of lifting Iran sanctions

– All 15 members of UNSC vote in favor of lifting sanctions against Iran

– All UN nuclear-related sanctions against Iran will be removed in 90 days from UNSC approval.

– Any P5+1 country can raise what it considers violation of conclusion.

British Royal Nazi Salute – a Sign of the Times

The British royal family is up in arms – excuse the pun – over old video footage that shows the young Queen Elizabeth giving a Heil Hitler salute. A photograph published on its front page by British tabloid newspaper The Sun has caused a storm of controversy, with the British monarchy denouncing it as an invasion of privacy. But the real significance is that the image shows how Western so-called democracies were – and still are – so close to embracing fascism.

There was a consensus among Britain’s ruling class during the 1930s that quietly but enthusiastically endorsed Hitler and fascism as a bulwark against democracy and socialism in particular.

Hillary’s secret war

Does she really think the American voters will overlook her criminal behavior and put her in the White House where she can pardon herself?

Recently, in conjunction with my colleagues Catherine Herridge and Pamela Browne, I read the transcripts of an interview Ms. Browne did with a man named Marc Turi, and Ms. Herridge asked me to review emails to and from State Department and congressional officials during the years when Hillary Clinton was the secretary of state.

What I saw has persuaded me beyond a reasonable doubt and to a moral certainty that Mrs. Clinton provided material assistance to terrorists and lied to Congress in a venue where the law required her to be truthful. Here is the backstory.

Mr. Turi is a lawfully licensed American arms dealer.

The Nuclear Agreement; Fantasies vs Facts

Iranians are celebrating the prospects of a long awaited relief from the economic pain that the sanctions had imposed upon the nation. While they blame the United States government for what they believe to have been an unjustified and unfair treatment, they are divided as to what the true motivating factors could have been behind America’s animosity toward Iran.

The majority opinion points to America’s insatiable appetite for a hegemonic control over the region and its energy resources. A much smaller segment of the population comprising of the more educated elites, believe that Israel and its Zionist supporters in the United States have been at the helm and steering America’s foreign policy in the Middle East toward Israel’s preferences, even at the expense of America’s own strategic interests.

Iran’s Long-Game Diplomatic Strategy

Iran has sought negotiations with the U.S. for two decades, but both Democratic and Republican administrations favored hostility demanded by Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Now that Iran nuclear deal is completed, the attention of Western news media and political commentators is predictably focused overwhelmingly on the opposition to the agreement within the U.S. Congress and from Israel and the Saudi-led Sunni Arab coalition.

That media lens misses the real significance of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which is that Iran succeeded in negotiating an agreement with the United States that upheld its national right to a nuclear program despite the obvious vast disparity in power between the two states. That power disparity between the global hegemon and a militarily weak but politically influential regional “middle power” has shaped not just the negotiating strategies of the two sides during the negotiations but, more importantly, how they came about in the first place.
