Iran offers alliance with Russia to counter USA in the Middle East

Iran put forward and idea to set up a coalition with the participation of Russia to counteract the United States. According to Iran's Fars news agency, assistant to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Major-General Yahya Rahim Safavi, said that Iran's regional alliance with Russia, Syria, Pakistan and Iraq would be able to counter the American coalition. According to him, the US strategy in 2018 is to "preserve the conflict in the region," as well as expand it, and Washington seeks political, economic and military benefits for this activity. According to Safavi, the US seeks the establishment of an autonomous Kurdish region, even though the actions of the Americans violate international norms about territorial integrity of states. Russia and Iran have similar positions in Syria, even though strategic goals of the two countries are different.

Iran seizes bombs, explosives in Saudi terror plot

Iran has captured two large caches of explosives and powerful bombs that were supposed to be detonated in populated areas as part of two terrorist plots, one of them directly designed and led by Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry said in a Wednesday statement that in one operation, security forces discovered no less than 23 remote controlled bombs that terrorists were going to use in order to wreak havoc in the eastern parts of the country.

Terrorists had managed to carry the bombs over Iran's eastern borders and sneak them into the country using help from Saudi intelligence agencies, according to the statement.

US Vice President Mike Pence has underlined Washington’s resolve to change Iran’s nuclear deal, warning that the US will withdraw from the agreement if it is not altered.

During a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Jerusalem al-Quds on Tuesday, Pence stressed that “the time has come” for Washington’s desired changes in the deal, adding, “If our allies will not join us, President [Donald] Trump has made clear we will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal immediately.”

“But we hope in the months ahead to be able to strengthen it,” he added.

Iranian Military Official Asks Int'l Community to Support Protest Rallies in US

Deputy Chief of Staff and Spokesman of Iran's Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri called on the world states to support the American people's anti-government protest rallies.

The international community should show full support for the American people in rallies and confrontation against the country's wicked governments and does not allow the people of the US and other countries to sustain spiritual and physical damage under the evil policies of the US rulers," General Jazzayeri said on Monday.

"The continued and exacerbating unrests in the US will force the country's rulers not to interfere in other countries' internal affairs anymore," he added.

Neoconning the Trump White House

Washington's well-funded web of interventionist elites is quietly populating the president's national security circle, again.

What has been less obvious, but has become much clearer in these last few months, is that other neoconservatives are quietly filling the vacuum left by Obama’s cadre of liberal interventionists. Many of them had taken a pass on “Never Trumping” publicly, and are now popping up at the elbows of top cabinet officials.

“You Are Now Entering the American Sector” (Will Syria Be Partitioned?)

Do not take your eyes off the ball, remember that all this delicate pussyfooting is about power.

Russia avoided the Syrian quagmire despite dire predictions. Putin minimised his footprint, his war is almost over, ISIL has been defeated. Trump could also exclaim “Mission is completed!” – and fly home.

But, it seems he is eager to rush in where angels fear to tread. Trump does not mind doing for the Israeli Prime Minister what his predecessors, whether Democrats or Republicans, refused, namely, fighting Israel’s war by indefinitely extending the hostile and illegal occupation of Syria.

Why Is Putin “Allowing” Israel to Bomb Syria? The Saker

The truth is that “the Russians are *not* coming”. The key for Putin is to do what needs to be done to advance Russian interests but without triggering an internal or external political crisis.

Trying to reason with the Israelis or get them to listen to the UN has been tried by many countries for decades and if there is one thing which is beyond doubt is that the Israelis don’t give a damn about what anybody has to say. So talking to them is just a waste of oxygen. What about threatening them? Actually, I think that this could work, but at what risk and price?

Tillerson Pledges Open-Ended Military Presence In Syria To Counter Iran

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke at Stanford University Wednesday afternoon about the future of Syria and the US role in the war. In his talk entitled, "The Way Forward in Syria," Tillerson once again reiterated the US desire to eventually see President Bashar al Assad removed from power while also pledging US commitment to staying in Syria in order to counter Iran's influence in the region.

Ultimately, according to Tillerson, "the Unites States will remain in Syria" until certain conditions are met which include the complete destruction of ISIS, Assad's removal from power, and the return of refugees to a stabilized country.

Iran will not allow changes in JCPOA deal on its nuclear program

Iran will never acknowledge any changes in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for its nuclear program, Izvestia writes with reference to a representative of the country’s embassy in Moscow. If Washington quits the deal, Tehran will follow suit, he added. This comes after US President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly criticized the agreement reached between Iran and six international mediators (the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, and France) on July 14, 2015, announced plans to amend the deal, or even quit it. The US leader said he had decided to waive nuclear sanctions against Iran "in order to secure the European allies' agreement to fix "the terrible flaws of the Iran nuclear deal." "The JCPOA is a respected international document, which in no case is subject to additional discussions.

Iran Arrests Leaders of Recent Riots in Isfahan

Four females who endeavored to provoke the recent economic protests into riots and received orders from the anti-revolutionary forces outside the country were arrested by security forces in the Central city of Isfahan.

security and law enforcement police officials said that the four women had played a role in provoking the protestors during the recent riots in Isfahan and were detained.

They added that preliminary investigations disclosed that they had links with an online movement named 'My Stealthy Freedom' that was commenced in 2014 by Masih Alinejad, an Iran-born anti-revolutionary journalist and activist based in Britain and the US, as well as a the West-based Telegram channel, Sedaei Mardom (formerly known as Amad News), which released fake reports on continued protests in Tehran.

These Are the Real Causes of the Iran Protests

... Even though protests appear to have fizzled out over the past two days, the population's anger and frustration will remain until the Rouhani government takes concrete steps to address the protesters' legitimate grievances. While Rouhani can - and should - make changes to the budget, he has less control over the deeper problem of unemployment and the absence of foreign investment ... Precisely because Trump doesn't care about the protesters and is more interested in destabilizing Iran and undoing anything and everything with Barack Obama's name on it, he may well use the protests as a pretext to do what he has always intended to do: Kill the nuclear deal. The only deviation from Trump's original plan is that he could now pretend to do it out of love for the people of Iran.

The Case Against Iraqing Iran

The case against Iraqing Iran includes the following points: Threatening war is a violation of the U.N. Charter. Waging war is a violation of the U.N. Charter and of the Kellogg-Briand Pact. Waging war without Congress is a violation of the U.S. Constitution ... War supporters said the U.S. urgently needed to attack Iran in 2007. It did not attack. The claims turned out to be lies. Even a National Intelligence Estimate in 2007 pushed back and admitted that Iran had no nuclear weapons program. Having a nuclear weapons program is not a justification for war, legally, morally, or practically ... In the Gallup poll, people within the U.S. chose Iran as the top threat to peace on earth - Iran which had not attacked another nation in centuries and spent less than one percent of what the U.S. spent on militarism.

Given the history of foreign interventions in the Middle East, is the United States or Israel plausibly involved in the demonstrations?
The answer to that is both yes and no. It’s unlikely that Congress will have a comprehensive plan to improve the Iran deal ready by Friday, when the waiver of US sanctions against the Iranian regime is set to expire, the Associated Press reported.

So it’s up to Defense Secretary James Mattis, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and National Security Adviser HR McMaster to convince President Donald Trump that there’s enough momentum behind a bipartisan accord on addressing Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for Hezbollah to justify extending the US waiver and keeping the Iran deal intact.

FRANCE ACCUSES U.S., ISRAEL AND SAUDI ARABIA OF TRYING TO SPARK WAR WITH IRAN

Updated | French President Emmanuel Macron has accused the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia of instigating a war as their mutual foe, Iran, was rocked by a week of protests.

Macron on Wednesday joined several other world leaders to weigh in on protests that began as demonstrations against austerity measures under Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and later spilled into isolated, deadly clashes between civilians and security forces. The French leader called for dialogue with Tehran and criticized three of his international partners for pursuing what he considered bellicose policies toward a country the trio have increasingly sought to isolate and undermine in recent years.

“The official line pursued by the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia, who are our allies in many ways, is almost one that would lead us to war,” Macron told reporters, according to Reuters.

It was “a deliberate strategy for some,” he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, of course, should these efforts fail, we are very much looking at a "false flag" to be blamed on Iran as the "justification" for an invasion.

What I would like to very seriously impress upon President Trump; President Macron, and Prince Salmon, is the very excellent results the Russian military have had in Syria recently.

They have weaponry that has been shone to work in intense battlefield conditions.

I would strongly caution that if the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and France attack Iran, they will be staring into abyss of such weapons, and into the faces of the successfully adept and capable Russian military personnel who know how use them.

WINTER PROTESTS IN IRAN 2017-2018

In late December, anti-government protests sparked across the country. Over 20 people were killed, hundreds injured and thousands detained because of clashes between security forces and the protestors. The protests emerged due to internal economic factors and the activity of foreign adversaries of Iran. The main factors behind the protests were government imposed barriers to small businesses, a strict regulation of daily life by the government, corruption, high level of the social differentiation and economic variance within the population as well as the infiltration of patterns of the Western consumerist society into the country.

On December 28, protests broke out in the northern city of Mashhad. Over the next few days, these protests spread across the country and reached the Iranian capital, Teheran. In some areas, protestors attempted to storm police stations and government buildings. This became the main reason for the casualties.

And while what we propose in turn may appear at first as only a slight variation of other analysis, and insignificant, it will be very important in how these events are memorialized in the public record, moving forward. The devil is in the details.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps: Riot of Year Failed

Jafari also accused Washington, Tel Aviv and Riyadh of ordering militants of the Daesh terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) to penetrate into Iranian territory "with the aim of subversion."

This position echoes Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's statement made on January 1, in which he stated that the unrest had been provoked by a mix of existing internal problems and foreign influence.

Iran Protesters Want Sanctions, No Support For Syria, Lebanon, Palestine – Call Themselves “Freedom Fighters”

By Brandon Turbeville

During the first few days of the Iranian protests, it was somewhat unclear as to whether or not the demonstrations were indeed organic expressions of Iranians angry with religious and legal oppression as well as economic stagnation. As the days passed and the violence grew and as more and more Iranians began speaking out, it subsequently became more and more clear that the demonstrations were something other than organic expressions of anger. Indeed, now on day six, it is abundantly clear that the protests are nothing more than another warfront for the United States, NATO, GCC, and Israel...

But even as the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards corps, General Mohammad Ali Jafari, declared the end of the “sedition,” many Iranians remain deeply suspicious of the protests but also recognize some legitimate complaints.

After having discussed ongoing violence with a number of Iranians, there are a few points that are abundantly clear...

These fake images of ‘Iran’ are being shared on social media

First among these is a post from conservative media contributor Kambree Kawahine Koa who published a video to her Twitter feed that purported to show a mass anti-government demonstration in Iran. Kawahine Koa told her more than 83,000 followers: “Whoa! 300,000 March for democracy in Iran! Incredible!”

However, Twitter users were quick to debunk the claim, pointing out that the video is actually of protests in Bahrain in 2011. In a series of tweets posted on New Year’s Day, the Bahrain-based Twitter user who re-posted the video said that she had been surprised to find that it was viewed 50,000 times in just two hours. Up to then, it had been viewed a mere 18,000 times in seven years.

Neocons return to power

Neoconservative fingerprints all over Trump National Security Strategy document.

President Donald Trump’s 2017 National Security Strategy report tells us how he sees the world, or rather how the Washington foreign policy elites do.

From a candidate who ran on a message of change, it is striking that the report is essentially a defense of status quo policies and views.

2018 – War or No War? The Saker

Imbeciles and cowards. I also happen to think that they are traitors to their country and their people. Patriots they are not.

Trump Administration now has released a National Security Strategy which clearly show that the Empire is in “full paranoid” mode. It is plainly obvious that the Neocons are now back in total control of the White House, Congress and the US corporate media. Okay, maybe things are still not quite as bad as if Hillary had been elected, but they are bad enough to ask whether a major war is now inevitable next year.
