SOME POLITOONS TO START THE WEEK

Israel, Washington’s closest ally in the Middle East, is armed to the teeth with the aid and assistance of the United States, and has built its own substantial nuclear arsenal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who bitterly opposed the 2015 nuclear agreement, immediately condemned the Iranian missile test on Monday. He said he would press the Trump administration to renew economic sanctions on Tehran when he visits Washington this month.

3-minute video: Trump, US rogue state imperialists escalate lies for war on Iran. US military & public: either demand .01% arrests for ongoing illegal Wars of Aggression or be used as sub-human minions & work animals always ‘Hoping for change’

Melissa Dykes of The Daily Sheeple’s sharp three minutes:

Documentation of recent US actions and rhetoric for more lie-started and illegal war on Iran:

US Secretary of Defense calls Iran “single biggest state sponsor of terrorism” despite the US initiating over 200 illegal military armed attacks around the world since WW2, with war and poverty-murders totally ~400 million in just the last 20 years. The US population is a little over 300 million.

White House Press Secretary lying to the world’s media that Iran attacked the US Navy to initiate war. The actual facts include US armed attacks on Yemen backing Saudi attacks followed by a Yemen-supporting group attacking a Saudi naval vessel.

Trump’s National Security Advisor put “Iran on notice” in ongoing war rhetoric despite Iran violating no law, and as documented below, constant US and Israel violations that have killed over a million Iranians.

How the US Helped Create Al Qaeda and ISIS

Much like Al Qaeda, the Islamic State (ISIS) is made-in-the-USA, an instrument of terror designed to divide and conquer the oil-rich Middle East and to counter Iran’s growing influence in the region.

The fact that the United States has a long and torrid history of backing terrorist groups will surprise only those who watch the news and ignore history.

US Preparing New Sanctions Over Iran's Missile Test

The Donald Trump administration is expected to announce new sanctions against Iran to ratchet up pressure on the country over its missile program.

US Betrays Iran Deal as Predicted – Edges Closer to War

As the world remains mesmerized by the antics of US President Donald Trump, his national security adviser Michael Flynn brazenly linked Iran to Yemeni fighters who attacked a Saudi warship, as well as cited an Iranian missile test as grounds to reverse course on US rapprochement with Tehran, concluding that Iran was “put on notice.”

US corporate-financier funded think tank, the Brookings Institution, in a 2009 policy paper titled, “Which Path to Persia? Options for a New American Strategy Toward Iran” (.pdf) would lay out in detail various means of provoking war and regime change against Iran.

In it, Brookings explicitly revealed how a “superb offer” would be given to Iran, only to be intentionally revoked in a manner portraying Iran as ungrateful:

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to National Security Advisor Flynn; if the US goes forward with this war against Iran, what do you intend to do about Russia, which will almost inevitably go to Iran's aid?!?

I would politely suggest, Sir, that before you go about sabre-rattling against Iran, that you have a very, very long talk with Sec-Def Mattis about just what are US capabilities against Russia and/or China; I think his response will be that of counseling patience, while the many problems with the American military posture are resolved.

The US may have to consider firing on Iranian boats after latest Houthi attack

This is complete insanity. This will start a war! I didn't vote for this!

But according to Brennan, the US may not allow hostile, unresponsive ships to get so close to Navy vessels after a force associated with Iran used suicide boats to kill two Saudi sailors.

"The overarching duty of self-defense mandates revision of the ROE to provide a sufficient 'bubble' to prevent the risk of a suicide attack, particularly from swarming boats," Brennan said in an email to Business Insider.

Trump Favors Military Escalation: Washington’s War Threat Against Iran

It is just two weeks since President Donald Trump was sworn into office after delivering an inaugural address proclaiming his policy of “America First” and vowing to defend the United States against “the ravages of other countries.”

Any illusions that this policy spelled a turn away from the unending wars waged by the US over the past quarter of a century in favor of isolationism have been rapidly dispelled. Trump and his advisors have staged one bellicose provocation after another in a sharp escalation of the longstanding militarist policy of American imperialism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

An honest, and urgent, memo to President Trump; sir, if in fact you choose to go to war against Iran, goaded by Israel's Netanyahu, that it is "the right thing to do", you will be leading the American people, who you claim to "love and fight for" into the absolute, and abominable, hell of a war the US military might not be able to win.

And it is completely conceivable that war against Iran will ultimately lead to a war with Russia.

Please understand I have the utmost respect for every single man and woman in uniform; but our military has been badly shortchanged by short-sighted governmental policies, over decades, which has left them without the troop strength; the money; the manufacturing; or the weaponry to achieve a successful outcome of a conventional war with Russia.

The Russians spend far less on military equipment than does the US military, but are getting way more "bang" for their weaponry buck than does the US military.

The culture of US weapons manufactures makes their CEOs believe that it is perfectly fine to deliver weapons late, to the point of being obsolete; not functioning anywhere NEAR specs (take a look at the debacle which has been the F-35, for a marvelous case in point), and bill the government an obscene amount of cost-overruns for obsolete, non-functioning equipment, because... that's the way it's always been.

Mr. President if we are to go to war with ANYONE, all these issues have to be addressed intelligently and rationally, and with consequences for those CEOS who slide back to business as usual.

Please have some long talks with Sec-Def Mattis on this, to get his take on American readiness for war, at every level of this government's and military's preparedness.

Were I a betting woman, my bet would be that Sec-Def Mattis will counsel restraint against any military action against Iran.

US expands blacklists on Iran

The United States has added 13 individuals, including foreign citizens, and also 12 organizations to its blacklist on Iran, the US Department of Treasury said on its website on Friday. These restrictions are being imposed on those who are complicit in Tehran’s program for developing ballistic missiles or are somehow providing support to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (the elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces). The blacklisted organizations include the China-based extracting company Cosailing Business Trading Company Limited, and also structures whose offices are located in Iran, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.

Defiant Iran Slams Trump: We Won't Yield To "Useless" Threats, Will Conduct More Ballistic Missile Tests

With the US officially warning Iran twice over the past 24 hours in the harshest possible terms yet, when first national security advisor Michael Flynn, and then this morning Trump himself, said Iran has been "put on notice" for "destabilizing activity" after it fired a ballistic missile in defiance of UN resolutions, on Thursday a top adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was quoted by Reuters as saying the country would not yield to "useless" U.S. threats from "an inexperienced person" over its ballistic missile program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Down the page you will see Iran's Foreign Minister say that the US is offering Iran "a few dollars" for Iran to leave its people unprotected from the next Saddam. Iran was already threatening to drop the US dollar over Trump's 90-day travel ban. The sanctions may push them over the line.

THE U.S. PLAN TO TOPPLE ALL 7 COUNTRIES ON TRUMP’S REFUGEE BAN LIST

According to four-star General Wesley Clark, shortly after the attacks of 9/11, the Pentagon adopted a plan to topple the governments of seven countries; Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

According to Reuters, Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order that would include a temporary refugee ban and a suspension of visas for citizens of Syria and six other Middle Eastern and African countries.

The list is expected to include Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. If those countries are starting to sound familiar, there’s a reason for that.

According to four-star General Wesley Clark, shortly after the attacks of 9/11, the Pentagon adopted a plan to topple the governments of seven countries; Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The more I look at the first actions of the Trump presidency, the more I am terrifyingly convinced that the real winner of last November's election was the power-hungry, money mad, and deeply psychotic, American Deep State.

The hard, inescapable reality here is that the American Deep State is all about expropriating resources from countries to which it has no moral right; insuring those countries are run by US/Western-centric governments; and insuring that those resources are only sold for the US dollar.

The blood and money spent is of no consequence to those people running the American deep state, as long as their financial/geopolitical objectives are obtained.

And those American military killed or maimed for life in the process of achieving their financial goals?!? Merely collateral damage, for the sake of private corporate profit.

Of course, politicians cannot possibly say that to grieving families and friends of those killed or maimed; they are assured with such nostrums as "They died to protect this country and the American way of life."

No; these military died and were maimed for life to protect and enrich private corporate profit.

That is simply the bottom line here.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ARMING KURDISH FANATICS, TERRORISTS; U.S. AND RUSSIA FLOAT KURDISH AUTONOMY IN SYRIA

While Trump’s Syria plan has been incredibly vague up until this point, we are now seeing the position of the Trump administration coming into view. While, at this point, it might not be as bad as what was called for under Obama and Clinton, the new approach to Syria is concerning to say the least.

This is because mainstream news reports have revealed that the Trump administration is going ahead with a plan to arm Kurdish militants in Syria who are battling the Islamic State. Of course, these Kurdish fanatics are interesting in only one thing – independence and the creation of their own Kurdish state that eventually crosses the border of Syria, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. They are not interested so much in fighting terror since they have allied themselves with terrorists to achieve their own goals.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a palm to forehead moment here, at velocity.

Are we looking at more "fake news" here, to attempt to sell US citizenry on the narrative that the US needs to be more thoroughly involved in a military solution to the many problems in the Middle East, rather than viable political solutions?!?

And I would politely like to remind President Trump, that doing the same thing, in precisely the same way, over and over, yet expecting a different outcome, is one of the most classical definitions of insanity.

IF in fact these reports are true, it appears that both the Russian and US governments are hell-bent in balkanizing the Middle East, and bending it to their liking, and have made the decision that an independent Kurdistan will horrifically weaken the political ambitions of Syria; Turkey; Iran; and Iraq.

But what will be the cost in blood and money to make such a military adventure a "success"?!? And how long are the US and Russia committed to pursuing this dangerous game of regime change?!?

Were I a bookie in Vegas, I really would not bet against the resurrection of the draft in this United States right now, possibly coming at the end of President Trump's first year in office.

Lies Promote Trump's Economic War Against Iran

On Sunday, January 29th, the Iranian military apparently tested a ballistic missile. This was not the first test since the signing of the nuclear agreement, but it is one that received a lot of attention by the Trump administration. I think it's important to point out, as I am no expert in these matters, but apparently a ballistic missile is just a missile that goes really high and then uses gravity to come and hit a target. There is nothing inherent in a ballistic missile that makes it part of a nuclear program. Conventional warheads are delivered by ballistic missiles. In fact, most ballistic missiles that are mid-range, and that's what this one was, are used for conventional purposes, not for nuclear purposes. This is not an intercontinental ballistic missile that goes up into the upper atmosphere and usually is associated with a nuclear weapons program. So I think it's an important distinction to make.

THE COMING CLASH WITH IRAN

Iran-backed Houthi rebels, said Flynn, attacked a Saudi warship, and Tehran tested a missile, undermining “security, prosperity and stability throughout the Middle East,” placing “American lives at risk.”

But how so?

The Saudis have been bombing the Houthi rebels and ravaging their country, Yemen, for two years. Are the Saudis entitled to immunity from retaliation in wars they start?

Where is the evidence Iran had a role in the Red Sea attack on the Saudi ship? And why would President Trump make this war his war?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Or is Trump simply gaming the Congress, telling them what they want to hear, until he gets all his confirmations?

US Press Secretary Sean Spicer Falsely Accuses Iran Of Attacking U.S. Navy Vessel, An Act Of War – Video

The White House press corps wanted to know what being put “on notice” entailed, and Spicer responded by claiming that Iran’s government took actions against a U.S. naval vessel, which would be an act of war. “I think General Flynn was really clear yesterday that Iran has violated the Joint Resolution, that Iran’s additional hostile actions that it took against our Navy vessel are ones that we are very clear are not going to sit by and take,” he said. “I think that we will have further updates for you on those additional actions.”

Major Garrett of CBS News quietly corrected him, saying “a Saudi vessel,” and Spicer then responded almost inaudibly: “Sorry, thank you, yes a Saudi vessel. Yes, that’s right.” He did not in any way address his false claim that it was an Iranian attack, however.

Pre-Emptive Attack Iran Bill Active in US House

You will often see potentially important pieces of legislation languish in the US House. A bill will remain active, meaning that it can be brought to the Floor at any time. But it flies just under the radar. Other times the language floats around Washington for years until a "crisis" necessitates its activation and passage. As we know well, what eventually became the PATRIOT Act -- one of the single greatest attacks on civil liberties in US history -- started out and spent much of its early life as a sugar-plumb fairy dancing in neocon fantasies. Then came 9/11 and it was dusted off and imposed on the American people. And the United States has never been -- and may never be -- the same. Pre-Emptive Attack Iran Bill Active in US House

So it may well be with H.J.Res. 10, introduced in the House just as the new Congress began at the beginning of this month. The title of the bill tells the tale: a bill “To authorize the use of the United States Armed Forces to achieve the goal of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.” This legislation, introduced by Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL), is as it appears: an authorization for the President to use military force against Iran. But it is much worse than that.

Why so? Because it specifically authorizes the president to launch a pre-emptive war on Iran at any time of his choosing and without any further Congressional oversight or input. The operative sentence in the resolution reads, “The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as the President determines necessary and appropriate in order to achieve the goal of preventingIran from obtaining nuclear weapons.”

What? So there was a Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 two years before Trump? There was a kind of "Muslim ban" before the Muslim ban? But almost no one critiqued it in 2015 because it was Obama's administration overseeing it.

So for more than a year it has been US policy to discriminate against, target and even begin to ban people from the seven countries that Trump is accused of banning immigrants and visitors from. CNN even hinted at this by noting "those countries were named in a 2016 law concerning immigration visas as 'countries of concern.'" But why didn't CNN note that the seven countries were not named and that in fact they are only on the list because of Obama's policy?

Iran was once a great power, and though invaded by Greeks, Arabs, Turks, and Mongols and exploited by imperialist powers in the modern era, it has continued to assert its national identity and its people have developed a special sensitivity to interference with its sovereign rights. Thus, Iran has publicly rejected the initiative of its allies, with whom he fights, as it seems, for peace and stability in the war-torn Syria. The Iranians have made it clear to Moscow that they intend to maximize the implementation of Russia's strategy in Syria and then in the entire Middle East. Iran may create a variety of problems for Russia, including those associated with the resumption of Russian-US cooperation on Syria. China To Pour $3 Billion in Iran’s Refining Capacity

China will invest US$3 billion in the upgrade of Iran’s oil refining facilities, Iranian media reported, with the bulk of the investment going into the Abadan refinery.

According to Deputy Oil Minister Abbas Kazemi, China has already “opened the financing” for the refinery’s upgrade. Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure has suffered the results of years of neglect because of insufficient maintenance funds during the sanction years as well as access to new technology and equipment.

Last week China’s statistical bureau reported that the country’s crude oil imports had increased to 64.4 percent of domestic demand and this is expected to continue, with imports rising by a total 17 percent in the period 2015-2020, with domestic output falling by 7 percent in the period, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

IRAN: At least 75 people killed after an iconic high-rise building collapses

The 17-story tower was built in the early 1960s by Iranian-Jewish businessman Habib Elghanian and named after his plastics manufacturing company. It was the tallest building in the city at the time of its construction.

Elghanian was tried on charges that included espionage and executed in the months after the 1979 Islamic Revolution that brought the current ruling system to power — a move that prompted many members of the country's longstanding Jewish community to flee.

The tower is attached to a multistory shopping mall featuring a sky-lit atrium and a series of turquoise-colored fountains. It wasn't immediately clear whether the mall was damaged.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Defenders of the orthodox 9-11 story are pointing to this building collapse as proof that WTC-7 could have been brought down by fire, but there are some mitigating circumstances. This building was fifty years old and not built to the same standards of construction as WTC-7, which was built to house government offices. Second, there are reports than while the building was originally built as a residential unit, many of the units had been converted for storage of inventory for the adjacent mall and were carrying weight loads exceeding what the building was originally designed to carry.

Kerry Advises Trump Against Scrapping Iran Nuclear Deal

Departing US Secretary of State John Kerry says he believes the Iran nuclear agreement will survive and has warned President-elect Donald Trump that canceling the deal would harm the US in an irreparable way.

Speaking on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry said unraveling the achievements of outgoing President Barack Obama will take Trump longer than he expects.

One Year Ago Yesterday: Iran Releases Prisoners Two Weeks After Bold Trump Threat: "THEY WILL BE OUT BEFORE I TAKE OFFICE, I will tell you that much right now."

A mere two weeks after Donald Trump made a bold threat to Iran about the four "hostages" that Trump said Iran was holding, Iran did indeed release the prisoners. The four Americans released were reporter Jason Rezaian, former Marine Amir Hekmati, pastor Saeed Abedini and Nosratollah Khosrawi. Seven Iranians were released from U.S. custody in exchange. At a full-house rally in Biloxi Mississpi on January 2, 2016, Trump boldly vowed that the four would be released before he took office.
"THEY WILL BE OUT BEFORE I TAKE OFFICE. I will tell you that much right now. They will be out," Trump angrily said.

Trump, Kissinger and Ma playing on a crowded chessboard

Place your bets on who will be the major partner in the Trump, Kissinger and Ma law firm.

Kissinger has drafted a plan to officially recognize Crimea as part of Russia and lift the Obama administration’s economic sanctions.

The plan fits into Kissinger’s overall strategy — call it a traditional British Balance of Power, or Divide and Rule, approach — of breaking up the Eurasian front (Russia-China-Iran) that constitutes the real “threat” to what Mattis defines as the “established world order.”

Can Trump Fix the Economy In 2017?

Paul Craig Roberts (born April 3, 1939) is an American economist, journalist, blogger and former civil servant. He reached the height of his government career when he became the United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy under President Reagan in 1981.

Dr. Roberts elucidates how Trump can fix the the Economy.

I cannot assure you that Trump is not another fake like Obama. But it is a mistake to begin with this assumption. Why write off in advance the only person with the courage to put his life on the line and take on the corrupt and evil Washington establishment?

Cold war drama fizzling fast

“It wouldn’t be a bad opening for a Tom Clancy novel about the Cold War” – that’s how the Los Angeles Times described the sequence of events leading up to the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats (“spies”) and the latest face-off between Washington and Moscow.

Indeed the whole episode of has about it a fictional aura, which is, after all, only appropriate, since the entire basis of this latest cold war drama is pure invention.

The Establishment Is Trying To Steal The Presidency From Trump And the Liberal-Left Is Helping

Where is the liberal-left’s moral conscience?

The US military, the CIA, and their whores in the US media are undemocratically pursuing their own agenda independent of the policy of the president-elect.

We could dismiss Trump’s admission as throwing a bone to the CIA so they can feel vindicated and get off his back, and the statements by Tillerson and Mattis could be dismissed as what has to be said in order to be confirmed.

US Intel Agencies Try to Strong-Arm Trump Into War with Russia

The big shots who run the country are trying to strong-arm ‘the Donald’ into carrying their water so the depredations can continue...

Powerful elites are using the credibility of the US Intelligence agencies to demonize Russia and prepare the country for war.

Last week’s 25-page report, that was released by the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, illustrates to what extent intelligence is being “fixed around the policy”.

The Intelligence Community has been coerced into compromising its credibility to incite fear of Russia and to advance the geopolitical ambitions of deep state powerbrokers.

Risks and Opportunities for 2017

Just a few days into 2017 and we can already say with a great degree of confidence that 2017 will be a historical year. Furthermore, I submit that 2017 will be the “Year of Trump” because one of roughly three things will happen: either Trump will fully deliver on his threats and promises, or Trump deliver on some, but far from all, his threats and promises or, finally, Trump will be neutralized by the Neocon-run Congress, media, intelligence community. He might even be impeached or murdered.

Of course, there is an infinity of sub-possibilities here, but for the purpose of this discussion I will call the first option “Trump heavy”, the second one “Trump light” and the third one “Trump down”.

The Biggest Destabilizing Force in Middle East - Guess Who? It's US

The international crooks are at it again. President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Defense Department, retired Marine General James Mattis, claims Iran is the “biggest destabilizing force in the Middle East.” During his Senate confirmation hearing on Thursday, “Mad Dog” Mattis said the United States needs to forge a strategy to “checkmate Iran’s goal for regional hegemony,” adding that "Iran is the biggest destabilizing force in the Middle East and its policies are contrary to our interests.” Once again, Mathis - just like the outgoing international crooks at the White House - failed to offer any evidence to support his baseless allegations. He was unable to substantiate as to why Iran’s regional policies are destabilizing. Instead, he mostly focussed on Iran's lawful support for the Regional Resistance Front as well as involvement in the war against ISIL and Al-Qaeda in Iraq and Syria, which he rightly said are contrary to US interests.

The Neocon’s declaration of war against Trump

This is a political coup d’etat...an attempt at removing Donald Trump from the White House.

After several rather lame false starts, the Neocons have now taken a step which can only be called a declaration of war against Donald Trump.

It all began with CNN published an article entitled “Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him”

Within one short week we went from allegations of “Russian hacking” to “having a traitor sitting in the White House”

Obama Okays Massive Shipment of Uranium to Iran That Could Produce 10 Nukes (Video)

With just 7 days left until Barack Obama’s second term in office is “scheduled” to come to an end, we can now add one more shocking unprecedented abuse of power to an already very long list of abuses. It seems just when we thought the Iran nuclear deal could not possibly get any worse, President Obama has once again managed to undermine our national security, make Americans less safe, and he’s done so without even the slightest challenge from anyone in the mainstream media, aka the “fake news.”

Article III, Section 3 of the United States Constitution:

Obama’s ‘Farewell To Arms’ As War Presidency Ends

Self-declared liberal Americans consider Bush to be a warmongering disaster, yet somehow they hail Obama as some kind of progressive «peace president».

Eight straight years of warmongering come to an end as US President Barack Obama bows out with his «farewell to the nation» speech this week, as fawning American media dubbed his valediction.

In reality, Obama’s outgoing address should have been billed as a «farewell to arms» made by arguably one of the most belligerent presidents to ever have occupied the White House.

Only in exceptionally delusional America could such a pernicious paradox be presented as something honorable and sentimental.

Two conflicting interpretations are suggested, says Cohen. Either Trump is about to become a potentially seditious American president. Or powerful US forces are trying to destroy his presidency before it begins, perhaps even prevent him from taking office.

Arab Analyst Underlines Riyadh's All-Out Failure, Iran's Increased Power in Region

Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm newspaper, stressed that 2016 was a bad year for Saudi Arabia and generally all members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) but it brought chance and success to Iran. "Riyadh and other PGCC members have buried their heads in the sand as the war in Yemen is entering its third year and the financial and humanitarian costs are increasing rapidly without any sign of peaceful solution to the crisis," Atwan wrote on Saturday. He added that Turkey's turn to the Russia-Iran alliance to settle the crisis in Syria, limitation of Riyadh's role in Syria and Lebanon, darkened bilateral ties with Egypt and decreasing oil output are among the developments which made 2016 a bad year for Saudi Arabia and weakened its role in the region. "Instead, Iran is gaining achievements one after another; while Saudi Arabia's losses increase, the power and clout of the Russian-Iranian coalition also boosts," Atwan wrote.

2016: The Year of Russia’s Triumph – The Saker

2016 has been a fantastic year for Russia. Putin’s policy of slow, low-key and deliberate move and counter-move has proven to be extremely effective.

Just like European maps place Europe in the center of the planet, so do most western commentators look at the past year from a US/Europe-centered perspective. Which is fair enough. Furthermore, the AngloZionist Empire has just suffered two major disasters, the Brexit and the election of Trump.

The credit for the election of Donald Trump goes first and foremost to the American people to whom I sincerely believe the entire planet owe a heartfelt and loud “THANK YOU!!!!!”.

Not only did the British people defy the Empire and vote for a Brexit, but now the Imperial Homeland has “backstabbed” them by electing a patriot who is not interested in maintaining the global empire (or so he says, at least for the time being).

Putin’s Bear to Obama’s Turkey

Putin's stoic statesmanship speaks for itself.

Not for the first time, the contrast in character between Putin and Obama was illustrated in the latest diplomatic spat over alleged Russian hacking.

For one thing, Putin’s gracious magnanimity always in the face of American provocations shows the Russian leader to be a fine statesman and human being; whereas Obama looks like a pathetic, cheap nonentity.

President Putin made a surprise attack:

He said that his government would not take retaliatory measures. Indeed, he went further by offering seasonal goodwill greetings to President Obama, his family and the people of America, as well as repeating invitations to the children of accredited US diplomats in Russia to festivities being held at the Kremlin.

RUSSIAN ALLIES DISCUSS SPLITTING SYRIA INTO 3 DE-FACTO STATES TO END CIVIL WAR “

Russia, Turkey, and Iran are reportedly discussing splitting Syria into three autonomous sub-states in a final deal to end the ongoing Syrian civil war, Reuters reports.

The three sub-states would be regionally autonomous and nominally remain under the power of a federal administrative system. This federal system would retain Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in the beginning, before a less divisive figure took the helm. Assad’s religious sect, Shiite Alawites, would remain in charge of the federal system and have their own zone of influence under the terms of the deal.

The Syrian proposal hearkens back to Vice President Joe Biden’s 2006 proposal to split Iraq into three autonomous sub-states in lieu of pursuing the 2007 troop surge. Biden termed the proposal, “Unity through Autonomy.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The absolute, dysfunctional, and colossal "failure of imagination" the US government demonstrated, in their lust for regime change in Damascus, is scarily amazing, and shows, yet again, that those Americans in government are pathologically incapable of thinking any scenario through to its potential conclusions.

And the ultimate outcomes of this war against the Syrian government, could have played out many ways; there wasn't just one possibility of resolution here.

And yet, no one in DC saw, for one moment, that the potential for Russian and Iranian involvement would be game-changers which would not give them the outcome they desired.

Hopefully they will be wrong in that expectation, but it is difficult at this point to see where the next White House will be going with its Middle Eastern policy.

IRAN IS NOT THE BIGGEST NUCLEAR CHEATER — GUESS WHO IS

If you think Iran presents the greatest danger of nuclear war today, think again.

It is none other than the United States that has consistently violated the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty—and it’s these violations that are one of the main drivers of the spread of nuclear weapons and the threat of nuclear war across the world.

While some worry about inspecting Iran’s nuclear facilities, Americans should be pushing first for inspecting something nearer to home: the embarrassing and dangerous record of nuclear treaty violations committed by the US and its fellow nuclear states.

And there’s something else that bears closer inspection: how the mainstream media’s misreporting about nuclear armaments played a key role in justifying the Iraq war and other recent conflicts.

As the worst loser in American electoral history, she must blame Russia, rather than recognize that there were multiple reasons to vote against her.

If the 2016 presidential campaign was a national disgrace, the reaction of the losers is an even more disgraceful spectacle. It seems that the political machine backing Hillary Clinton can’t stand losing an election.

We'll see in a few days how the Electoral College gambit (Hillary's "Plan D" - the first three being rig the election [A], recounts [B] and Russia [C], all failed) plays out.

Anyone who has access to the Trump transition team needs to get one clear message through to them. This is, that the 2016 election is NOT YET over, and Trump could find himself on the evening of December 19th with the new President-elect, Hillary Clinton, having a majority of the votes in the Electoral College which votes that day; or having the election sent to the US House of Representative for the outcome to be determined, as happened in 1800, 1824 and 1876 (for different reasons).

Russia Concerned US Extension of Iran Sanctions Act Threatens Deal

The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement today criticizing the US extension of the Iran Sanctions Act, saying they are “disappointed” in the US move, and fear it could jeopardize the entire P5+1 nuclear deal between the international community and Iran.

The bill which extends the act became law today, without President Obama’s signature. The overwhelming majority of both houses of Congress passed the bill, presumably veto-proofing it, but Obama still didn’t want to have his signature on the matter.

Despite Iran’s warnings about the bill, and the new concerns from Russia, the extension doesn’t technically violate the P5+1 nuclear deal itself, as it imposes no new sanctions on Iran. Rather, the bill makes it more straightforward for future presidents to impose such sanctions on Iran, nominally in the case of a violation by Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Sergei Lavrov: the point of this legislation, sir, IS to destroy the P5+1 Agreement with Iran, as a prelude to war against it!

THE ULTIMATE “FAKE NEWS” LIST

Isn’t it ironic how the mainstream media has the nerve to lecture everyone else about “fake news” when they are the primary source of fake news on a consistent basis stretching back years?

Fake news stories and fake narratives put out by the mainstream media have resulted in deaths, destruction and people’s lives being ruined.

The most harmful fake news is routinely published by the mainstream media.

They are the main progenitors of fake news.

Iran Increasingly Sees IS as Threat to Islamic Republic

In an unusual display of public candor, Iranian authorities have said in recent speeches that Islamic State infiltrators are becoming a growing threat to the Islamic Republic.

At least three times in recent months, Iranian officials have spoken about breaking up IS-related terror cells and arresting IS-affiliated militants planning attacks inside Iran.

The claims lack many details, including when the alleged incidents took place, the identity of most suspects and concrete links to IS. And at times, the information has conflicted with other accounts.

But the growing emphasis by Iranian officials on the militant group's possible threat has caught the attention of Western analysts who monitor developments in Iran and offer varying views on the extent of the threat and Iran's aim by speaking publicly about them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although concrete details have not been released, the Iranian government has every reason to be concerned about such infiltration; and the reason is as follows:

ISIS USED AS TOOL BY SAUDIS, US & TURKEY WHEN IT SUITS THEIR INTERESTS – US SENATOR

There is nothing that would be more satisfying to some US and Saudi officials than to see regime change in Tehran, and both countries would certainly not be above using ISIS to do it, as a proxy force, in order to keep their own troops' hands clean, as much as possible.

The Trump Wave – Chris Wallace with President-elect Donald Trump

When asked why would the CIA put out the story that the Russians wanted you to win, Trump said I don’t think it is the CIA, I think it is the Democrat’s,because they suffered one of the greatest defeats in the history of politics.

I am open-minded… I’m somebody that gets it…other countries are eating our lunch…the great American people have been forgotten…millions of people have given up looking for work… I understand our country – Donald J Trump

Obama Out Not With a Bang, But a Whimp

The whimpering Obama administration is not over yet. Expect more sensational CIA exploits; more demonization of Russia; more weaponizing of “moderate” Syrian “rebels”; and even the odd false flag.

Clinton’s campaign – fully supported by President Obama — spent a whopping $1.2 billion and floundered ignominiously at the US presidential election. So Obama decided that the consolation “prize” is to order the “intelligence community” – a contradiction in terms – to conduct a “full review” of how the evil Russians handed out the Big Prize to Donald Trump.

The CIA is up to its old tricks: overthrowing a democratically elected government. Only this time it’s our government.

A senior US official said there were minor disagreements among intelligence officials about the agency’s assessment, in part because some questions remain unanswered.” [emphasis added]

Boeing agrees $16.6bn deal to sell 80 jets to Iran as sanction ease

Boeing has agreed to sell a fleet of jets to Iran in a $16.6bn (£13.2m) deal that marks a new departure in attempts by the Islamic Republic to rejoin the global economy.

The US plane-maker will sell 50 of its workhorse 737 single-aisle airliners, along with 30 of its “mini-jumbo” 777 aircraft to carrier Iran Air.

Deliveries should start in 2018. The deal follows an agreement last year that the Tehran government stops developing nuclear technology in return for an end to international sanctions.

Fake News and War Party Lies – Pat Buchanan

Now, Americans should be on guard against “fake news” and foreign meddling in U.S. elections.

It appears that the battle of Aleppo is about to end and the Syrian Army is on the “verge of total victory.”

Hundreds of jihadists have already laid down their weapons and surrendered while a hardline corps of deadenders continue to fend off the rapidly advancing army.

Home About Antiwar.com Donate Blog US Casualties Contact Latest NewsNo Evidence, But Pentagon Tries to Convince Turkey Iran Killed Their Troops

A late November attack on Turkish soldiers in northern Syria, which killed four troops, was initially and falsely blamed on a Syrian airstrike by Turkish officials. Turkey met with Russia over the matter, who confirmed that this wasn’t the case, and indeed that the indication was that the attack wasn’t an airstrike at all, but an ISIS suicide bombing.

ISIS was quick to take credit for the bombing the day it happened, so it wasn’t clear why Turkey needed a solid week to concede that their initial claim of an airstrike was wrong. The Pentagon, however, is trying to sell Turkey on the idea that everyone is wrong and Iran attacked them for no apparent reason.

Unnamed Pentagon officials quoted in the Turkish press offered no evidence of Iranian involvement, but noted that the site of the attack, which again apparently was an ISIS suicide attack, was sort of close to some places where Shi’ite militias are located, and since Iran is a Shi’ite state “it might be Iran.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is what the Pentagon has become in the 21st century; a fact-challenged, conspiratorial false narrator, attempting to anger Turkey against Iran, when there is not a shred of evidence to support it's claim.

Folks, this makes me very nervous!!

And who are these alleged "Pentagon officials" which made this accusation ?!?

IF in fact Turkish officials spoke to them, I want them named, and interviewed by responsible independent journalists.

Want to talk about fake news and fake accusations?!?

The US government takes the cake, hands-down, on this!!.

US Hawks Lay Out Plan for Getting Into a War With Iran

United Against a Nuclear Iran (UANI), an organization packed to the gills with a bipartisan who’s who of hawkish figures, held an event on the “Future of Iran Policy” in Washington DC. Unsurprising, given the list of attendees, the future they envision is war, and lots of it.

The event headlined by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R – FL) and former Sen. Joe Lieberman saw calls to “restore coercion” against Iran, with several figures advocating that the US accept the limits of sanctions alone by sinking Iranian naval vessels in the Persian Gulf.

This call, pushed by Lieberman and Foundation for Defense of Democracies head Mark Dubowitz, who sought to parlay those intermittent events in which the US warships parked off Iran’s coast complain Iran’s boats, inside Iran’s territorial waters, are “too close” by simply attacking and sinking those boats at every opportunity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel has long been demanding some kind of US attack against Iran, even to the point of threatening to do it themselves, which will inevitably lead to US into war against both Iran and Russia.

"Israeli speculation over Iran strike reaches fever pitch"(Guardian, August 14, 2016)

One has to wonder if that huge military aid package from the US to Israel U.S. $38B military aid package to Israel sends a message was the secret component of a quid pro quo for Israel not attacking Iran.

But the Israeli firsters are not giving up, and this call to "restore coercion" against Iran is nothing less than total insanity; I am sorry, but these folks have collectively lost their reality licenses,to be advocating such reckless US military actions, and need to be gently housed in soft, locked facilities with soft toys preventing any choking hazards.

The P5+1 deal may be many things, and is certainly not perfect, by anyone's standards; but going to war against Iran (which will almost inevitably mean going to war with Russia), right after Trump is inaugurated, is one of the most idiotic things I have heard

Big Money Intends To Shut Down Our Website — Paul Craig Roberts

Paul Craig Roberts

Big Money and the US government controlled by Big Money intend to close down Internet truthtellers. As Trump intends to reduce the tensions between nuclear powers, the 200 List prepared by the shadowy Internet site, PropOrNot, is in Trump’s way. Is Peace Possible? A Dialogue With Johan Galtung On Ukraine; Trump, Putin, And…

I expect these two men to cooperate — Johan Galtung

JG: I think there is a big difference in the campaigner Donald Trump, with his horrible remarks, and all his prejudices, and the President-Elect—who announces himself as the President for all Americans! While we are focusing on Ukraine, I was particularly interested in a statement made by a member of the Trump team about the 200-year relationship between Russia and the United States: the point was made that Russia supported what became the United States, against the French and the English empires. And that was Tsar Alexander I!...

It helps to have a long time-perspective! This is the first time in my life that I have heard of a President-Elect, or a President, having an historical perspective!

‘Mad Dog’ Mattis and the Spirit of Trumpism

When it comes to foreign policy, the incoming Trump administration displays a split personality.

Mattis exemplifies the dual nature of the new administration.
This was readily apparent during the campaign, when, on the one hand, Donald Trump told us we were lied into the Iraq war, that NATO is “obsolete,” and that we have no business supporting regime change in Syria – and, on the other hand, he declared that he would crush ISIS, that it was a mistake to leave Iraq, and that we have to “rebuild our military,” as if we don’t already spend as much as the top ten defense spenders.

Hopefully someone will convince Donald Trump that the real answer to eliminating the “Iranian threat” is not war.

One of the most discouraging aspects of the filling out of the Donald Trump cabinet is the array of Iran haters that seem to be lining up in the foreign policy and national security areas.Trump has been personally advocating sensible policies relating to Russia and Syria but he appears to have gone off the rails regarding Iran, which just might be attributed to those who are giving him advice.

During his 'thank you' tour in the midwest, Trump had this to say: "We will pursue a new foreign policy that finally learns from the mistakes of the past. We will stop looking to topple regimes and overthrow governments. In our dealings with other countries we will seek shared interests wherever possible..."
If this is really to be President Trump's foreign policy, it would be a welcome change from the destructive path pursued by the two previous administrations. Such a foreign policy would go a long way toward making us safer and more prosperous, as we would greatly reduce the possibility of a 'blowback' attack from abroad, and we would save untold billions with a foreign policy of restraint.
